Sorry it took a bit to answer anon. College and work have been killing me these past few days^^;

01 - I speak five languages (German, French, English, Japanese and Korean) at varying levels of proficiency. I actually had my Korean final yesterday and I'd say it went pretty well 👀 Also I learned Italian for a while, though I only remember some basic phrases, how to say one idiom & how to flirt

02 - Ever since the Sins of Flesh update I've been SO obsessed with Cult of the Lamb again. These past few days the game icon just kept staring into my soul while I was trying my best to stay strong and focus on studying Speaking of being obsessed over games, once the new Professor Layton game releases I'm going to be SO annoying. Those games were my childhood :)

03 - When planning out a story, I have the habit of writing the plot details out on flashcards and putting them up on my walls. I get embarrassed over it whenever someone other than a select group of friends come over though, so when someone else visits I usually end up taking them down only to hang them back up once that person is gone lol

Bonus fact!

This one is probably going to MASSIVELY wrap everyone's view of me, but I feel like half of the more creative school work I submitted ended up being fandom related:

In eighth grade, we were supposed to write a two page long story about a murder case, and I just made it a Professor Layton x Phoenix Wright crossover. I even took one of the cases from Phoenix Wright as the base for my story, and I only barely changed the names, so you could EASILY tell that it was fanfiction

I got my English teacher to watch Assassination Classroom because we had to give a 3 minute presentation on something we liked. That's the same teacher that made one of his tests entirely about Batman btw, he was great <3 I also got my math teacher to watch the anime AND read the manga because I asked him about one math problems from it that I just didn't get. He wrote down the solution and literally programmed a little something to help me better understand how to get there. Another great teacher <3

Had to write a three-word story (you're given three words as prompts and have to built a short story around them), except one of the words was "chinchilla". I ended up writing about a "killer chinchilla" which is just the nickname my sister gave Minccino

I once ended up the state winner in a nation-wide art competition with a Pokémon ORAS-themed watercolor drawing I did (that piece was graded, so I'm counting it toward school work)

We were tasked with drawing a picture inspired by a song. I took My Hero Academia's first ED and made the drawing itself about My Hero Academia as well. Burnt through way too many pencils for this one. They hung it right next to the teachers' room, idk if it's still there tho

That same year we were also tasked with "building a creative trash can", and so I decided to make a little Korok that collects paper waste in a little bag. I also learned how to sew in order to make the bag, so that's cool (pic below!)

I somehow convinced my teacher to let me write my seminar paper on My Hero Academia

In elementary school, my friend group came up with a play set in Animal Crossing, and I ended up writing the entire thing (as in literally writing it so that you could act it out in Animal Crossing itself). That wasn't school work by any means, but regardless, I still very much did print it out just so I could give it to my homeroom teacher, so there's that

Also not school work, but once again in seventh grade I wrote an Animal Crossing New Leaf fanficiton (???) where you could vote what would happen next on the end of every chapter. A good portion of my class read it and I also made my PE teacher read the first chapter

That's by far not all of it but those were the first few things that popped into mind. Anyway, here's the pic of my little Korok paper waste collector!

Hi, can you help me come up with a scientific name for a Harpy, Wyvern, Dracolizard and Dracoturtle? I'm a little lost on how to go about it. In my world wyverns and dracolizards aren't dragons but are a closely related cousin species but I don't want to use the Latin or Greek root words for dragon since I used those for my actual dragons and I don't really know what to do with dracoturtles which are, well, turtles with very minor and diluted dracolizard blood. And harpys are just really weird birds that evolved to lure in humans due to their progenitors developing a prominent fondness for human preys.

It's a little hard for me to help you there without knowing more specifics about your creatures, but I can give you the resources I have turned to when making taxonomic names for my own fantasy creatures!

here's a multi part article series about taxonomy. part 1 is just a short bit of history on taxonomy. part 2 actually gets into how the taxonomic naming works. part 3 lists some common suffixes. part 4 is about taxonomic terms related to body parts. part 5 is about using habitat in taxonomy. and the final part 6 is about behaviors in taxonomy.

and using my own older posts as an example, let me explain some of the taxonomic title choices I made. (it got long)

on the goblins: Hadebufo, hades-frog, based on the real life Beezlebufo, meaning devil frog. this is a way to use taxonomy words by combining two words into one. bufo here basically means frog, and I simply smushed another word in front of it. Same goes for the next one, Manibufo, where "mani" means "hand", so it's the hand-frog because it had prehensile fingers that allowed it to grab things. from there, I made up the title "goblus" to represent the whole goblin family tree. it's just a vaguely latin sounding alteration of "goblin". I named the modern goblin "goblus goblus". usually in two-word taxonomic titles, the first word indicates the genus (that's the broader family they're in) while the second word indicates the species. so having them doubled like "goblus goblus" or "rattus rattus" usually indicates that they're like the archetypal species of their genus, the defining group. the two goblin ancestors before goblus goblus had different names; goblus troglodites (taking inspiration from chimpanzees, pan troglodytes.) troglodyte means "cave dweller". the other one is goblus textilis, or "goblin of textiles" because this is when they became very good at weaving baskets.

on the orcs: i took inspiration from prehistoric boars here. hyotherium means "pig monster" with "therium" being a common suffix to indicate a very large creature. I also used mongolian-based words for the first two in this line, since many prehistoric boars and similar creatures' fossils have been found there. which gave me hyotherium khurtshud (pig beast with sharp teeth, remarking on it's more carnivorous diet) and vounotherium sureganchin (mountain beast which hunts in packs, remarking on the evolution into a wolf-like hunting style). from there, I started to make up new terms, this time stealing words from tolkein. Uruk Urukhai, a direct reference to tolkein's strongest orcs. Uruk then became the genus name. From there, Uruk Orci is the modern orc ( could have sworn i made updated names, but i cannot seem to find any updated charts in my files lol) and I have a bonus there for Uruk Korri, taking the second title from Korrigan, a type of small fae from european mythology, often associated with hills and caves. This is a branch species that experienced island dwarfism and then split again to create the mountain dwelling Uruk Gnomi (gnomes) and the burrowing Uruk Hobbi (my version of hobbits/halflings, which I call Haufin).

on the elves: I went for the -pithecus suffix which is common for a lot of primates, including some human ancestor species. so alfipithecus, alf being an alternate word for "elf", and then sylvapithecus, referencing the word "sylvan" which i then used to make the genus name "sylvus". It's a word heavily associated with elves, especially in DnD where Sylvan is like a more ancient version of the elvish language. from here, sylvus arborea, "tree elf", and then the branching species split into sylvus arachne, "spider elf" for drow, and sylvus draculan "dracula elf" for vampires. (this needs an alteration, i'm not sure i want to call them vampires anymore). sylvus sylvan for "true elves" and sylvus hominid for modern elves that have changed with the addition of human blood in their ancestral lines (thanks to supernatural intervention while humans were going extinct)

these are currently the only evolutionary lines i have worked out, and so the only taxonomic names I have come up with so far! i hope that helps you decide what features you want to use as a base for your own fantasy taxonomy! have fun!

I am literally only a matter of maybe 2 or 3 pages max from finishing my fic 👀 I mean I have a lot of editing to do and an extra bonus chapter after but it's basically going to be done within the next week! Just crazy to think that with how long I've worked on it. I'm definitely going to be a little sad when it's done tho but also extremely satisfied lol. Especially as its the longest fic I've ever written!

#i just want to make the ending as perfect as possible #perfection is impossible but i want to get it as good as i can get #i'm really passionate about this fandom/ship so i've been desperate to get it all right from the beginning #but this bit is where ash and serena say their goodbyes to their son as he goes on his journey #so i really want to make sure it gets my readers a little emotional as it's making me writing it aha #like i said it needs a lot of work before i post it #but yeah #i'm so close now #just fanfic drabble

Drawing Station 1

This is the station I had been waiting the longest to finally start doing! I was expecting what i expect most often, what is considered as academic drawing but was kinda delightfully surprised to have a good mix of both so far!

First lesson, Walk and draw

First assignment, easy enough! Take a bunch of paper, go walk around, capture!

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would actually, felt like letting go and just letting the pen flow, as if just working with my subconscious. I realized at one point that I was basically doing people watching on x games mode. As people walk by me, i captured their jackets, their conversations, ect. Walking around the academy I law a lot of wires and electronics, and i liked focusing on that linear aspect combined with the people that i drew.

After drawing we came in and got tape to connect all of our pieces. I really liked the almost electrical tape that i took, and i ripped into thin pieces which I layed out over the exhisting wires that i drew, giving them more shape and dirrection. I also used this to connect all of the disjunkt drawings, making all the exhisting wires connect in a loop. A closed circut if you will!

Second Lesson, Figure Drawing

Exhiting doesn't begin to describe how I felt about this class. I have never done live model drawing at this intensity, by size and time and skill. As well that it was nude drawing I was also shitting bricks because the model was naked and I got very nervouse.

The first page was a warm up where we had to follow the models movement, kinda just in energy and then we got cracking to quick poses. I loved sketching this big even though it ment I couldn't work into the drawing more. Also after this class I realized that I had gotten quicker and more accuret at drawing people! So bonus on that

BONUS ROUND! Station Skill, Digital Model Drawing

What do I do the next day after my first time model drawing? I go and I do it again of course!

I liked how this class had a lot more focuse on shadow and light and capturing figure rather than only capturing the model. The first drawing was to me, a warm up, and the biggest challende here now was fighting photoshop since I had never painted in it before.

Word of advice that I realized right about now in drawing station, never ever look at other peoples work WHILE you're still working on yours. I kept glancing over at other people's work and being like DAMN. It wasn't that I was doing something wrong either, we were all just painting differently, but in the moment it always feels like you're doing the wrong thing.

Also I squeezed into this class without regestering cus I just wanted to attend it so bad lol. Really like Victor's classes and I'd like to attend more. He gave me the greenlight to show up unregistered btw! some people just always skip without unregestering

Third Lesson, Tree of Words

She said pick a word and surprise me!

The day before this lesson I had been experimenting with ink and how to capture and essense of allusivness as well as barely being there. So decided with the first drawing to carry on with that. I don't actualy remember what word I picked, but I'm preatty sure it was shame. So person in ink falling to their death? maybe!

After looking over at other people working (against my own advice), I saw how much of a fluffy edge you can get when working with charcoal. I'm not a big fan of working with charcoal due to how messyyyyy it gets but alas I was really after this fluffy barely there effect. Took the plunge and refrence some old old photos of a friend from 2021. I tried to make a big contrast and try to demonstrate the snow from the photos but idk how good that attempt was. I can always try again!

Forth Lesson, Model Drawing Part Two

3rd time doing model drawing is a lot less intimidating. This lesson I tried more on capturing not only figure but also shadows and dimension. I also realized I gotta scale down no matter how much I love going bigger, I just dont have enough time to work into the drawings on such a scale. I think a lot of these would have looked more rendered and better looking if I just had more time. But oh well! you live and you learn.

he loved it so much, like so much, i cannot stress this enough

he pauses; in shock, but quickly recovers and hugs you even tighter

he has the the softest, most adoring little smile on his face (along with a light blush cuz he’s kinda a shy baby haha)

then i think that he’s pull away just enough to press the sweetest kiss on your lips

because that little kiss you gave him made his heart overflow with so much love that he just had to

now you both regularly kiss each other’s shoulders/neck and it’s just really cute hehdhdj

bonus: when you like actually kiss his neck (rather than shoulder) he gets so frickin soft and flustered and blushes like crazy but he really really loves it lol

and he tried not to freak out

but his blush was so evident like boi-

and again, he was just so cute, so you kissed his neck again

and this child is just about to combust because of the sheer amount of hearts and uwus inside him

so he angrily slams his drawing utensil on the table and attacks you with kisses all over your face

you got there safely and successfully yay and headed to the practice room that jeno told you they were in

you walked in and were very happy to see the jaemin’s back was to you

so you motioned for the boys that noticed you to be quiet and ran up to jaemin, attacking him with the biggest back hug

but THEN you decided to kiss the back of his neck

he was already dying of happiness when he felt his arms around you

and that little kiss just sent him over the edge with love and joy

he MELTED OK HE MELTED INTO YOUR ARMS

it was like all the stress and any negative emotion inside of him just melted away and he just felt so touched by that little kiss from you

especially because he’s the one who usually initiates physical affection

i think he’d actually get slightly emotional, especially if he had a hard/tiring day

time to initiate some sort of other physical affection to make him extremely flustered

you’d never kissed his neck before and now was the time to do so

so you reached over and pressed a sweet, gentle kiss on the side of his neck right below his jaw

as we all expected, he f r o z e

he became a block of hecking ice idc if it was in the middle of summer tho that would make jaemin putting a blanket on you slightly odd but we can ignore that

basically he was just really flustered and a blushing mess but it most definitely makes him very happy and smiley

I am starting to genuinely feel worried about the credibility of Elriel. On all social media platforms (other than Tumblr for my algorithm), I really only see Gwynriel content and theories.

I understand and believe Elriel has canon book content with tons of foreshadow. I truly want them to be endgame. But what if Gwyn is really there for Az? Ngl it kinda terrifies me lol

What if the scene at the end of Azriels bonus chapter was Gwynriel ??? A point a Gwynriel shipper brought up was, Elain doesn’t have the habit of returning gifts. Greysen, Lucien— so why Azriel? I felt a little stumped but I do know it was because she felt rejected.

I just want Elain and Azriel to be together. I need some reassurance lol

Hello!

Firstly, don't worry. Just because they are loud, doesn't mean that they are right. They don't like Elain. That's all. Guess what, many people HATED Nesta (still do), hated Chaol, hated Rowan, hated Rhys (still do)--at the end of the day, it didn't matter. SJM wrote what she wanted to write, told the story she needed to tell, and that was that.

Now, SJM could've written Gwynriel very differently, given something more concrete, given actual interest on part of Azriel towards her, but let's just stick to the beloved POV. If she wanted to set up Gwynriel and since the POV is the the biggest salami out there, hanging for the Gwynriels as 'proof', why, i am curious, would she write the entire part with Elain/Rhys/almost kiss/necklace? She could've just written the Gwyn part. The set up could've been exactly the same--Azriel is returning from Solstice, he is angry, moody, jealous of his brothers, wants a girlfriend. Enter Gwyn! Just write the Gwyn-only portion. Change something with the necklace--let's say he gives her a little gift, even impromptu gift through Clotho. All of that would be much more indicative of interest, of potential.

Instead, you have the Elriel and Rhys portion--where literally, a ton of stuff was suggested, sort of set up, and revealed. Mutual interest, prohibition, Blood Duel, necklace. What exactly was set up in the Gwyn part of the POV? Nothing. She has no bearing on the story as a whole. She is not related to anything that's happening.

Now, onto the necklace. There are different opinions on the significance of the necklace, where some Elriels think he won't play much of a role going forward, like the little book that Cassian tossed into the Sidra. I am of different opinion and I think the necklace will play a role, because I think that the necklace is Made in some way. There is too much back and forth with this necklace, and while I don't think it will play any romantic role/love triangle thing, I think it may possess certain power. That's why Elain (had to) return it. We don't know what Elain knows, what she Sees. We don't know what and how she feels about things. So it's very premature to make any far-reaching opinions about her.

On the surface, and let's stick with that for now, she returned it because it actually shows HOW hurt she was by his rejection. Obviously with Graysen, she couldnt go back to the Human Lands and give the ring back, but she took it off eventually. With Lucien, she keeps showing how indifferent she is towards him through her non-usage of his gifts. With Azriel, it's actually the opposite--it's an action, not passivity. Basically, she is salty. And she lets him know she is salty. She feels rejected and she does the only thing she can in this situation--gives the gift back.

(If somebody thinks that all of this will not be discussed and handled in the next book, well, they are mistaken).

Finally, there is literally no drama, no conflict, no nothing with Gwyn and Az. "I like you, you like me, let's get together'--is that the book? We know SJM will NOT WRITE A LOVE TRIANGLE with two women fighting over a guy. Let's assume Elain steps aside. Gwynriel happens. Then what? That could be done in the first 10 pages. Then what? There never seem to be any answers beyond the vague 'Illyrian plot' which of course is BS. They think she is going to write another book about training? In ACOSF, there was still Nesta (though it seems like people forgot about her), who was Making objects, finding Trove Objects, going to Prison, killing Death Gods, etc. She was the Cauldron Made character with power.

Anyway, I can write and write and write about this...And give like 182718937 examples. :)

Bottom line is, there is no Gwynriel book, as it stands right now. Also, I am pretty sure she'll be given a LI in the next book (not Az), so all of this will be forgotten.

Don't worry. Even ignoring all 4 books of foreshadowing, and going ONLY by the POV, there are like 9 things going on with Elriel that could potentially happen (forbidden romance, Blood Duel, bond rejection? bond acceptance? Rhys vs Az, Lucien, Elain's powers, etc). With Gwyn....no so much.

Possessiveness, jealousy, and overprotectiveness are staples of the romance genre, especially when it comes to paranormal romances, so much so that it’s expected for people to overlook the problematic aspects of possessiveness, jealousy, and overprotectiveness because these concepts in the romance genre are meant to be viewed not only as hot and sexy, but indicators of love and showing that the person cares. Despite their tendency to fall in the yellow flag zone, these concepts are meant to further the romance itself. And when you begin to question these concepts as they appear in different romances, there’s almost always pushback with people saying the books are “just fiction”. But what happens when there’s evidence that shows why these three concepts aren’t always healthy or hot/sexy in a romantic pairing? What happens when the narrative is using these concepts to show how they can be detrimental to a character and those romantically associated with that character?

Possessiveness/Overprotectiveness

In romances, it’s always in the man’s nature to be possessive and overprotective. These two concepts are usually used to show that a character is protective of their partner and we see that happen with almost all of SJM’s endgame ships, but they’re almost always portrayed as good/healthy because of the equal partnership that is present in those relationships. Thinking about acotar, a relationship where possessiveness and overprotectiveness were depicted in a negative light was between Feyre and Tamlin. Their relationship was imbalance and Tamlin’s possessiveness/overprotectiveness of Feyre stood out in the barriers he placed on Feyre when they were together: not letting her leave the house/keeping her in the house; saying everything is for her “protection”; only letting her talk to Alis and Lucien/limiting her interactions with others; telling Lucien to back off from Feyre because Tamlin saw him as a threat and that she could fall for him instead; having Feyre be dependent on him by not teaching her how to fight/learn how to use her powers; controlling every aspect of Feyre’s life at the beginning of acomaf; among other things.

Males in acotar feel an intrinsic sense of entitlement to their mate and are described as being protective and possessive over their mates. When people say that A is exhibiting “mate behavior” towards E, obviously there is a positive connotation associated with that phrase because of how the males act around their mate. But the thing is A isn’t E’s mate. A’s possessiveness of E is treading on the waters of Tamlin-ville because: A speaks for E, which is oddly similar to what some of E’s stans do in fandom discussions (as if E herself reached out of the book to personally tell them things that no one else knows); he makes it known that E shouldn’t help with the Dread Trove, which is an example of A attempting to limit what E does; and he subtly expresses a sense of entitlement over E in the bonus chapter during his conversation with Rhys when he questions if the Cauldron was wrong in pairing E with Lucien. A’s “mate behavior” is completely different from Rhys and Cassian because Rhys and Cassian are canonically mated to Feyre and Nesta, which plays a role in how they act towards them. Also, neither of them attempt to limit what Feyre and Nesta do even if they worry about their safety. To say that A is exhibiting “mate behavior” towards E would have the same effect as saying Tamlin was exhibiting “mate behavior” towards Feyre. I think that the reason A’s actions towards E are described as mate-like is because thinking otherwise calls his actions into question. I assume some people aren’t ready for that conversation because he’s been portrayed as the sad bat boy in the fandom for so long that it’s probably hard for people to come to terms with this not being the case.

When people say A being overprotective of E is similar to Rhys and Cassian being overprotective of Feyre and Nesta, the comparison becomes incomparable because A is overprotective of E to the point where he goes against what E wants to do (E stating she wanted to help find the dread trove, a scene in which A was present and later A said E shouldn’t be exposed to its innate darkness), while Rhys and Cassian know Feyre and Nesta are capable of fending for themselves in dangerous situations. It’s just ironic that A’s overprotectiveness in this moment contradicts E’s “choice” of wanting to help, yet I don’t see that being mentioned in those “choice” arguments.

Jealousy

Jealousy in the romance genre is always meant to further the romance between the love interests and we see that happen with rowaelin and chaorene (and probably other SJM ships too). But when the jealousy and the romance are disconnected from each other, that’s meant to show something about the character who is jealous and what they’re jealous of. On the second page of the bonus chapter, it’s established that A is envious of Cassian and Rhys and that the reason he remained downstairs by the fire was so that he didn’t get swallowed up by his jealousy in his room. Then on the third page, it’s revealed that the reason he stayed by the door at Solstice was because “he couldn’t stand the sight of it, the scent of their mating bond, and needed to have the option of leaving if it became too much”. There is a blatant reimagining happening with A’s bonus chapter to make it seem as though his jealousy is romantically coded when the jealousy has nothing to do with his relationship with E and more to do with him. This reimagining has to be a case of people seeing what they want to see because I highly doubt people are out here failing literature class.

The Romance Genre & SJM

A and E’s interaction in the bonus chapter is frequently compared to Wings and Embers. The only similarity between these two chapters is the sexual undertones, which is part of the reason why I think people compare them in the first place because everything else (the structure of the chapters, their contents, and the amount of characters involved in them) is different. I think people are hiding behind the sexual undertones of the bonus chapter in hopes that it somehow overshadows not only the oddness of A’s interaction with E, but the ending of the bonus chapter as well. And even more than that, A giving away the necklace is compared to Cassian tossing Nesta’s present in the Sidra. Since A is able to give the necklace away that should tell you about the significance of the necklace’s connection to E herself (if A can easily give it away to the next person on the street) whereas Cassian regifting Nesta’s present would probably be meaningless to someone else because it was Nesta specific.

We know that acotar is more romance heavy compared to tog and cc so I can see why people lean more on the conventions of the romance genre as a basis for their arguments. And this is fueled by SJM saying this new trilogy will have one couple per book. However, the downfall of these arguments is that oftentimes the plot, narrative structure of this new trilogy in particular, and individual character progressions are secondary or afterthoughts to the romance they support. These arguments lack any real substance because acotar has proved time and time again that both the romance AND the plot work in tandem, going against the broad strokes of the romance genre formula where the romance is primarily in the spotlight.

Basically, why do you think A’s possessiveness, jealousy, and overprotectiveness of E is romanticized? Why do you think A and E’s dynamic is constantly compared to feysand and nessian? And why do you think people take issue with A being compared to Tamlin?

THIS

I hate the whole discussion of "mate behavior" because the series doesn't even explain that very well. Rhys can't explain why people are mated, if it's for reproduction or being "equals" (in what sense, who knows), the courts all handle acceptance/rejection differently, the consequences of rejection are unclear and make it seem like the woman is beholden to accept on pain of... causing someone else pain.

I agree 100% that people (maybe unconsciously) try to ascribe "mate behavior" to Azriel in order to excuse what would ordinarily be inexcusable. He doesn't have some magical thing making him act this way. Neither did Tamlin, and we know how people view his behavior. And that's another thing with "mate behavior" and the bond. Why would Tamlin and Feyre not be mates, if all it took were these extreme possessive and protective behaviors? Why aren't Az and Mor mates?

And it's not even about Elain! Az acts like this with Mor, and we know there isn't a mating bond there. Azriel has zero reason to behave the way that he does, not in the same way that the mating bond gives Rhys and Cassian an "excuse", flimsy as it is, for the way that they act around Nesta and Feyre. Even that excuse is crap, because we have Rhys out here leaving Feyre's abusive ex alone, and then we have Lucien doing the same with Graysen. The definition of "mate behavior" that some of the fandom is working with... is sus.

The fact is that no matter how "overprotective" and possessive Rhys and Cassian were, they never prevented Nesta or Feyre from doing what they wanted. They might have gotten their hackles up, but then they backed off. Rhys sent Feyre into the Weaver's cottage. Nesta went to war. There is a balance between caring deeply and passionately for these women, and recognizing them as individuals whose autonomy should be respected.

The jealousy is 100% not about Elain. It's not about Elain being with Lucien. It's not about Mor, because we know that it's not really about Mor sleeping with Helion. Azriel has 99 problems, and 98.5 of them are about his childhood and his loneliness. The other 0.5 problem comes in the shape of a snowball.

The only similarity between these two chapters is the sexual undertones

You know I haven't done a full blown comparison between these chapters, but I'd agree. The entire Wings and Embers short was about Nesta and Cassian. There were no other characters and they learned a great deal about one another. What did Elain and Az learn about one another as people in the first third of his POV? Nothing. There was no tension between them other than sexual. Cassian thought Nesta's name over and over, thought about her as a person and her personality and how she made him feel. Azriel literally only thinks about fucking Elain. There is nothing wrong with fucking, obviously, but that's not love. (Maybe I should fully compare them idk.)

It's when we look at everything he doesn't say in conjunction with how he treats Elain and Mor in other scenarios... that's troubling. People can misread our 😬 at his behavior all they want, but the fact is that Az didn't have a single kind, original thought about who Elain is. His POV gave us zero extra insight into who Elain is as a person, which is... startling, if we are supposed to think that they know one another so incredibly well and have such intense feelings for each other. Why would we not get additional insight into her character? We get a lot of insight into Az's character for sure. But following his POV, if he loves and knows this woman so well, we should feel that. We should know why he loves her, what he knows about her, we should... just get some more damn insight into her character, if we are in the POV of someone who supposedly knows her so well!!!!

You know it's funny though, because the Az and Elain interaction in his POV mirrors when Nesta imagined a threesome with Az and Cassian. Close, and potentially pretty hot, but it never really happened because then it would mess up sjm's plans for the future.

Okay now to your ACTUAL questions haha and not just my reactions to what you said.

I agree that romanticizing Azriel's behaviors is the better option for people who ship it because otherwise the alternative is to accept them for what they are, which is not about Elain at all. Az has an even longer history of being all "mate behavior" on Mor, but no one thinks that's odd? I think that some people pick and choose their evidence, which is a big reason why I keep shoving Mor into these conversations. If the "mate behavior" argument was genuine and had a solid foundation, then the people making these claims would still ship moriel.

The whole thing with Az and Tamlin comparisons.... oh boy. I think there is a lot there.

I think that people don't want to see Az as anything less than perfect sad boi that Elain can fix with her love.

I think that people have a difficult time seeing emotional abuse IRL, to the point where even people who experience it directly struggle to come to terms with it, so why would we willingly embrace its presence in fiction? It also flirts with a lot of the ideas you mentioned being present in a lot of romance, though I'd argue a lot of those elements are becoming passé.

I think that Tamlin is Fandom Enemy Number One while Azriel is Self-insert Book Boyfriend Number One, and maybe people don't know how to reconcile those things. (This is quite literally true, I checked AO3 for reader fanfics and compared numbers between the bat boys, Az/reader fics win by a landslide.)

There also seems to be a refusal to see or accept nuance. I'm not even talking about moral complexity because I don't think that either Tamlin or Az intend to behave the way they do. They aren't villains. It just reminds me of people who somehow don't think Nesta was absolutely horrible through much of the series, even though a huge focus of her arc in acosf was coming to terms with how she had treated people. Anyway...

People see "gwynriel shipper" or "elucien 💕" in a bio and just dismiss arguments before trying to understand them

People try to justify their actions of their faves, which I understand!

People don't understand how subtle emotional abuse can be, and how there doesn't have to be clear intention.

I still plan on pulling out evidence from the book about times when their behaviors mirror one another. But it's like I've said for months - Tamlin is a cautionary tale. I don't think Azriel will go that far, but the foundation is there. The fact that acotar/acomaf was so, so explicit about how Tamlin's behavior was not okay, and yet people can see that same behavior in another character one book later and want to try to excuse it... sigh. Way to miss the point, fandom.

How am I supposed to read all your stuff if I'm on mobile?! 😭 I always seem to get lost in the sauce- I mean- never ending comic hoops, and yet I'm certain that some comics are out of the chain, so I can never see them. Is there an order to the madness? I've tried to find one on my own, but it never ends! Everything is a scrambled mess in my brain and most of the characters I see make no sense to me (other than, hey, this skeleton looks really cool! So on the basic level) because I have no backstory for them. So... What should I do? I'm starting to lose hope here... Jk, but still, it's best to say that my brain is mush.

How do I see ~everything~ ever, in the most efficient manner possible?

Also, I just to be certain that you know I'm not flaming you- I love your art, even if most of it doesn't make much sense to me- but even still! I love it anyway- i just want to be in the know lol. I've been seeing your comics on and off for years I'd say- but not in any particular order, or with any logic. I feel like I'm trying to craft multiple intricate puzzles, but all of them are in the same box- but at the same time some random (great) person shows up and starts taking some of the pieces and putting them in other boxes, then adds more, also all great intricate pieces, then adds some sick bonus art to the pile- and I'm also at the same time, really, really bad a puzzles. That's the sort of sheitsuation I'm in. I have no idea how to properly use tumbler (I thought that people could post stuff to a blogs wall- I know now- sorta- that that's not how it works, but the remnants of my stupidity still remain up to this very day), and I also didn't know how to post links- so, you could probably assume why that might be a problem- just an endless supply of wack that really serves to throw my tiny pea brain for a loop.

So, I guess I'm trying to ask this, the tldr if you will: I want to read all of your stuff, but don't really know how. How do I do the do?

Random comics, are comics that can make you either laugh or cry, or feel like there's someone standing right behind you in a dark room. A lot of my favourite comics are in this one lol and I think there's some foreshadowing, too!

...I'm lying. There's a good chance there's foreshadowing crawling everywhere through both random comics AND shenanigans. I just don't remember all of them.

aizawa x fem!reader family headcanons

tags/warnings: abuse mention, child mentions (obviously lol), domestic fluff, overall very fluffy a/n: for someone who doesn’t really like kids and definitely doesn’t want them i’ve thought about this a lot lol (shout out to @winnies-headcannons for suggesting this and giving me the excuse to write this all out)

Aizawa

At first Aizawa thinks he doesn’t want to be a dad

He works so much between teaching and being a hero

He basically already has twenty two children with Class 1A

It was hard for him to accept you into his life and make time for you

Of course it’s the best decision he’s ever made but it was daunting at first

He didn’t want to disappoint you or give you less than you deserve

But the idea of having kids scares him the same way having an s/o did

What if he wasn’t good enough?

What if he didn’t have enough time?

What if they got hurt?

What if something happened to him?

But things change quickly after Eri comes into your lives

Eri

She needed Aizawa for her safety and others safety

But when he looked at her sad little face he couldn’t help but love her

When he brings her home to you your heartbroken at all the things she’d been through

You both just want to protect her and give her the best life she deserves

Sure it was technically a job for Aizawa to watch her but it never feels like one

When they mention what they’ll do with her once her quirk is under control it makes Aizawa so sad

He loves watching you play with Eri and take care of her

Coming home to you two having a tea party with her stuffed animals makes his heart so full

He can’t imagine letting anyone else take care of her

He comes home and brings it up

He isn’t direct, he doesn’t want you to feel like you have no choice

He mentions that they will look for a new home for her once she’s able to leave

You start tearing up before he even finishes

“Shouta we can’t let her go.”

“I’m glad we’re on the same page then.”

You hug each other and are both so happy that you let Eri into your life

You hadn’t even thought about having kids much less talked about it before Eri but it felt so natural for the both of you

One night your finishing up some papers for work and Shouta is cooking dinner

Eri comes up to you, staring up at you with her wide eyes

“Can I call you mommy and daddy?” She asks in her little voice

Eri thinks she said something wrong when you start crying

Shouta is quick to run over, hearing the conversation from the kitchen

He scoops up Eri and sits down next to you on the couch, wrapping an arm around the both of you

“Did I say something wrong?” She asks

“No, sweetie. She’s not crying because she’s sad, she’s crying because she’s happy.”

You wipe away your tears and take a deep breath

“Of course you can call us that.”

It makes you both so happy to know she feels comfortable and safe living with the both of you

Shinsou

It was common for Shinsou to be around the house

After he trained with Aizawa he would come over for dinner

You liked having him over, he was so polite and sweet and had a good sense of humor

He gets along well with Eri, listening to stories she tells him or playing with her toy she shows off to him

He reminded you a lot of Aizawa

You weren’t sure if it was his personality or if Aizawa had been rubbing off on him

One night you and Aizawa are laying in bed tangled in each others arms

He’s nervous, he knows what he wants but he isn’t sure if you’ll want it to

“Shinsou is a foster kid.” He brings it up like it’s no big deal

“Really?” You ask, you can sense he’s nervous so you run your hand through his hair hoping to soothe him

“Yeah.”

“I didn’t know that, is he in a good home?”

There’s a tense pause before he answers

“When we’re training there are bruises that I know aren’t from training.”

You let out a sad sigh

Shinsou is such a good kid it break your heart to think he lives in a house that he can’t feel safe in

“He goes through enough with how cruel people are about his quirk. He works so hard, he should at least have a safe place to go home to.” He says, his tone low

You can tell how upset he is about it

“We have an extra room.” You say. “We could clean it out, there’s not much in there.”

Aizawa is filled with emotion he wasn’t ready for, this is the outcome he was hoping for but you had agreed to it so quickly

In fact you didn’t even agree to it, you offered it freely

“A-Are you sure?” He tries to hold back his tears but the stream down his cheeks

You take his face gently in your hands

“Shouta I think about your childhood a lot, how I wish someone had seen how you were suffering. Seen what you were going through and helped you. Took you into a loving home and supported you. If we have the opportunity and more than enough means to do so it would make me happy. He deserves it. He’s a good kid.”

Shouta pulls you into a crushing hug, more tears running down his face

“I love you so much.”

“I love you too.” You tell him. “You know he kind of looks like you, if he was younger people might think he was our kid.” You joke.

Aizawa asks Shinsou about moving in

Shinsou is shocked, he didn’t see it coming

At first he’s overwhelmed, almost wanting to say no

He doesn’t want to be pitied or a burden

Aizawa opens up to him about his childhood, being moved around from foster home to foster home, the bruises, the burns.

How he was kicked out the second he turned eighteen and how he was homeless for a long time even while doing hero work

Shinsou had no idea his mentor had been through so much but knowing he understands makes him more comfortable accepting Aizawa’s offer

It’s a bit weird moving in with his teacher (if you teach at UA two of his teachers)

He feels like he’s intruding at first

He feels wrong walking around or going into the kitchen to get food, he prefers to stay in his room

You and Shouta give him space and let him get comfortable

But you also take time to draw him out

Invite him to watch a movie with everyone

Ask for his help in the kitchen and teach him how to make his favorite dish

He gets comfortable quickly, he likes being around everyone and it doesn’t take long for you all to feel like a family

You come home to Aizawa grading papers at the dining room table while Shinsou is on the couch with Eri teaching her how to play Animal Crossing

You see Aizawa pause his work to look up at Shinsou and Eri and smile at the sight of them smiling and laughing

You wrap your arms around Aizawa’s shoulders and press a kiss to his cheek and think about how thankful you are to have this perfect family

The Twins

With Eri and Shinsou the house feels full of life and love

You’re laying on the couch after the kids went to bed watching TV

His arms are wrapped around your waist as you sit on his lap

You aren’t expecting your husband to ask this question

“Have you ever thought about having more kids?”

You turn your head to look at him

He looks nervous about asking the question

“I don’t think there are any more students to adopt” You tease him

He gives you a smirk

“I mean we could adopt another kid or... we could try having our own.”

You weren’t expecting that, of course you had wondered what a baby with Aizawa would look like but you never thought he might want to have a baby with you

You hadn’t talked about kids before adopting Eri and you always assumed it would be easier if you didn’t have any

“I’m certainly not opposed to that.”

“I didn’t want kids at first, I worried about everything that could go wrong but after having Eri and Shinsou with us it doesn’t feel as scary.”

So you start trying for a baby

And you’re both overjoyed when your pregnancy test comes back positive

You tell Shinsou and Eri

Eri is so excited to have a little brother or sister and goes on and on about all the games they can play together

Shinsou isn’t as open with his excitement but he’s looking forward to the new baby and he makes sure to let you both know that he’s willing to help out

When you go to the doctors to see what the gender of the baby will be you get a surprise you weren’t expecting

You have not just one baby boy on the way but also a baby girl on the way

Your scared that it might be overwhelming for Aizawa, it is for you but he just gives you a warm smile

“Honestly I had a feeling having one more kid would make me want another, so this is just a bonus.”

Aizawa is the best when it comes to taking care of you

He will get you any food you crave, will help you out with anything you need and he will make sure that him and Shinsou handle most of the household chores, even Eri helps clean what she can

When you finally have the babies everyone is so excited to meet the new additions to the family

Aizawa is at your side the whole time letting you squeeze his hand as hard as you need to, his low voice reassures you the whole time and tells you how much he loves you

The doctor hands you your new babies, it’s hard to tell who they resemble more but they both have their fathers dark hair

Aizawa holds they after you and he doesn’t hide the happy tears that stream down his face

When you take them home it feels like the whole household revolves around them

Aizawa takes time off to help with the babies

Eri loves to sit on your lap and watch them sleep in your arms

If they start crying she’ll run and grab their favorite toy and give it to them

Shinsou will take turns and put them down for their naps

He always tries and helps with all the laundry that comes from the babies, they go through a lot of clothes and blankets

It makes your heart warm how gentle and sweet they both are with them

It makes you so happy when you go out to the store and leave the babies with Aizawa and when you return home you find him fast asleep on the couch with both of them cradled against his chest sleeping peacefully

Overall

Aizawa never expected to have a family but he is overwhelmed with how happy he is with your perfect little family

It brings him so much happiness

He definitely has pictures of all of his kids in his wallet and a picture of you as well

He is private about his family mostly for their safety but the people who know about you will constantly be hearing him brag about how amazing you all are

He loves you all more than he could ever express but everyday of his life he makes sure to show it every way he can possible

You seem to know quite a bit abt venom and I don’t rly know who else to ask so…..I’ve been wanting to pick up reading the comics but I’m not rly sure where to start so I was wondering if you have any thoughts on where to begin/ what I should read first thanks!!

I have lots of thoughts!!! This is long and im sorry.

Fair Warning: If you are looking for the movie storylines, you will not find them. The movie storylines, to my understanding, are an amalgamation of different arcs from the comics. The recent movies are not comic-compliant for their origin stories meaning the other content isnt going to line up w comic-canon perfectly ( I can talk more about this if anyone is curious!)

Short answer 1: there is no good place to start just pick up a Volume 1 from any author and go at it.

Short Answer 2: Mike Costa's 2016 run. Volume #1: Homecoming (leads into the most recent run by Cates and Stegman and you can work backward after you catch up)

Long Answer:

It depends on how much back story you want and what stories youre looking for. Venom goes through many different iterations and hosts over the years so theres a few different places you could start based on ur personal story tastes and what you want out of the comics. Im going to outline the general runs from newest to oldest.

Keep in mind i havent read all of the comics yet so im going off of what i know and my own experiences working through the comics.

Note: In general, you get more bang for your buck by buying Omnibuses, complete collections, collected editions, volumes, etc instead of individual issues. (I only buy back issues for collecting purpose or for ongoing series). You can also read them for free online if you dont like paying money for things (personally i like owning things but w/e)

Anyway:

If you want to really see the relationship between eddie and venom you can start w the Mike Costa run from 2016 or the Donny Cates run from 2018. I LOVE the donny cates run but theres some backstory and info you may miss if you dont have other knowledge of venom from previous comics. (Flash Thompson, Cletus Kassidy/Carnage info mainly) Most of it is easily google-able though and if youre jumping into later issues im guessing you dont care too much about spoilers so google away! I think the Cates and Stegman run of venom is so so good it adds some dark story elements and new layers to the character of Eddie (#11 and #12 will hurt you in a good way). It also adds some mythology and additional lore to the symbiote that i kinda love. This is also the most recent run and it ended earlier this year. The venom comics will begin a new run next month i believe but i have no idea how beginner friendly that will be.

The Costa run will require you to know a little about Flash Thompson, but again all easily google-able. As i mentioned above, this directly leads into the Cates run. The costa run starts as the transition between the symbiote being w Flash Thompson and going back to Eddie Brock through Lee Price and then the story follows Eddie.

Speaking of Flash Thompson, this is a good place to start if you want the full lead up to where the comics are now. Flash Thompson as Agent Venom comics are from the Rick Remender and Cullen Bunn runs, beginning in 2011. This was part of a Rebirth for the character and lasted for i believe 40-something issues. There are 3 large complete collections (2 for Remender and 1 for Bunn) or theres smaller collected volumes. (This leads into the Space Knight story line which will then put you at the Costa run.)

If you wanna start with Venom #1 in his solo comics, David Michelinie's 1993 Lethal Protector is the first issues of venom solo comics and i can outline where to go from there as these issues are usually collected in like limited runs with series titles (ex. Venom: The Madness, Venom: Seperation Anxiety, Venom: Carnage Unleashed etc.) instead of just having the volume numbers and it can get confusing v quickly. The Venomnibuses collect a lot of those early issues and story arcs along with some appearances in other characters' comics all in order. Theres 3 Venomnibuses currently that collect all the venom comics (plus bonus issues) up to 2003 i think? So that includes all the OG venom solo run from Michelinie and the Daniel Way runs and would set you up to start the Agent Venom story arc. Again this is pricey if your buying omnibuses but theyre also like 1000 pages and cheaper per issue in the long run.

If you want REAL OG venom and to start from the beginning, Marvel Comics has an Epic Collection for venom called Symbiosis that collects a good amount of venom appearances in the Amazing Spider-Man series before he got his own series, including Eddie's origin story. Although this collection does miss some crucial story points like #361-364 (i think) which is the first fight between carnage venom and spiderman and #375 which is the point where vemom/eddie go to San Francisco (also first canon appearance of Ann Weying) and is basically the launch point for the 1993 6 part Lethal Protector series (as mentioned above). Those missing issues i THINK are on a spiderman collected edition, you can also buy back issues online or just read them for free online if u feel the burning desire to read them.

Like i said, theres no qrong place to start it mainly just depends on how you wanna do it. Some people are purists and wanna start from the very beginning, others may just wanna dive in and work backwards (basically what i did, i started on either end eventually ill meet in the middle).

January 2022 Update

✨Hi, everyone! ✨

Luckily, this past month has been kinder to me, though it's still been tumultuous overall. I've been able to get more done, but I've had to re-prioritize some of my tasks. This update may seem sparse, but that's mainly because there's not much to elaborate on (proofreading is a big task! But it's also too mundane to really write about, lol). Current status stands at:

✍🏼 Writing

Logan's path - 6/6 chapters written and coded

First chapter has been revised! (next is proofreading )Additional editing in further chapters

Added around 1,000-1,500 words overall

Adrian's path - 6/6 chapters written and coded

First chapter has been proofread!

Ezra's path - 4/6 chapters written and chapter five has a detailed outline

First chapter has been proofread!

Completed some general/light proofreading and revising overall.

Officially crossed the 150,000 word count line!

I'm thinking the entire game (base game + bonus stories) will be around 180,000, but we'll see.

🎨 Art

Created a general itch page banner and changed some of my logo text for readability

Finalized images for credit sequences (In the final game, you'll get different credit sequences depending on if you get the neutral/bad/good endings for each route.)

Drew some promotional images

Began CG work!!!!! :D (Sneak peek below)

💻 Coding

Figured out the basics of a phone messaging system!!!!

It's going to be a pain rewriting some of the phone/texting scenes to include this but . . . it's going to look so much better so I'm excited

Added more SFX

Figured out the CG variance unlocking system for the Image Gallery (somewhat)

🤔 Other

Hired a composer for an original theme

I came up with a melody and have been corresponding back and forth with a lovely composer! So excited to see how the song turns out for the game . . .

I'm continuing to update my social media (check out my Twitter for more quick updates)!

Began brainstorming a new trailer format!!!

A few Mer-skeletons

I will have to put the seal/ sea lion/ walrus in a post of their own lol but let's start with the body structures of merfolk based on dolphins, generic bony fish, and sharks.

the previous post on merfolk tails is over here, the merfolk masterpost is here, and I also have a patreon page here where you can see my sketches and get early looks at my content before I put it all up here (plus bonus stuff on my story writing)

So let's start with the easiest of the group, which was actually the dolphin.

I could add hair, but I chose to leave all of these drawings bald to help show off the skull structure better. Now, these merfolk I have made are definitely a little more on the uncanny side because of how I've used real animal anatomy as a base, so take them with a grain of salt lol. I think the dolphin works very well as a basis for a simpler design, and of course any other whale or dolphin relative will have a similar structure. They're mammals, and they still have "finger" bones in their fins that make adapting in a humanoid arm and hand a little easier. (and if you want to get really uncanny, go check out my patreon to see what this looked like before I changed the position of the eye socket...)

Next up is the shark, which has some similarities to bony fish, but is still quite unique in its structure:

I may have gone a little overboard on the neck, looking back at how much simpler the neck is on the dolphin mermaid haha. Probably not necessary to have it be quite that long and bendy to let the head move vertical or horizontal. As long as the spine connects more to the back of the skull than below it, you should be able to have the head position match the swimming direction without much trouble. Sharks are neat, I like the way they're built.

And now the skeleton that gave me the most trouble (or, the skull did anyway) generic bony fish:

I have another patreon post complaining about how weirdly complicated fish skulls are. They're made of lots of different bits that are sometimes fused and sometimes not, and it's tricky to find diagrams that make sense, but I think I worked this one out okay. Did you know that fish skulls have a piece called the "pelvic girdle", which is where their big front fins attach? Well you do now. I moved that bit down to act as a collarbone and arm instead. Fish mermaids are pretty fun to draw, even if the sideways motion of the tail can be hard to draw from certain angles, because there are so many really net looking real fish you can draw inspiration from.

Anyway, that's my examples of merfolk skeletons and basic body structure using real marine animals as a basis. I'll be making a different post for seals/ sea lions/ walruses.
