Why is physical media like DVD’s still region locked in 2025? I mean I know why (capitalism) but I thought we left that behind in the 2010’s?

I’ve been trying to buy as many of my comfort shows as possible as physical media, both because I can’t afford all the subscriptions anymore but also because where I’m moving has even worse internet than where I am now, so streaming might not actually be an option all the time. I’ve found most of them but Steven Universe is the only one left I’m struggling with. It’s apparently very difficult to get the physical dvd/bluerays in Australia. Apparently we just never got a physical release here. So I went to go buy it from an American seller because there were no other options I could find (if I wanted it in English) and noticed that there was a tiny warning at the bottom of the listing saying the disks were region locked and wouldn’t play on most Australian dvd players or PCs. I double checked and yeah, nothing I own can read it. Well my pc disk drive can technically do it, but there’s a limit to how many times I can change the region settings, and considering most of my DVD’s are region 4 (and this is region 1) it’s not really practical. That’s even more aggravating though because it means it has the capability built in and it’s artificially locked off…

And just…why? I want to access the show legally and give you money, why are you making it harder?? And yeah, there are ways around it, but man I just want to watch my silly kids show about gay space rocks while I do my work.

Yeah, bit too much detail/elaboration for me to really do- especially given I haven't played or seen much gameplay for Maneater just yet- BUT! I did do some sketches based on/around what you've given me here!

How long does it take you usually to fulfill requests? They seem fairly detailed 🤔

i'll be completely honest, i don't really know! i mean, it depends on exactly what you mean. sometimes it takes weeks for me to even get to some requests with how my inbox is (the oldest one right now is from the very beginning of december, so sorry if you've been waiting that long!!), but from sketching to the finished piece varys greatly

my estimate is anywhere between 20-30 minutes to a few hours. i think there's only been a few times where it takes me multiple days, and thats usually when i start them right before going to bed

My internet has been investigated by a professional.

There might be something weird with the big cables (to quote the guy: the "inner-pair" and "outer-pair" of the eight-cables are of different lengths, but by all accounts still work just fine), but my own equipment has at least passed (no extra-fine for crying wolf for me).

The weird stability-thing continues to be weird. And current test is for them to switch my internet-provider (internet-provider has a use-contract with the cable-operators, who are the ones investigating) over the weekend. See if the problem is on that end.

It's possible that this is the case (at which point I guess I'll try to switch permanently), or that it's that weird cable-length resulting in the problem (which is... a whole different can of worms).

No but like it actually is a big Issue that they Shiny Locked all the returning legendaries in the Indigo Disc DLC

Nintendo/Gamefreak/The Pokémon Company know there’s an entire dedicated subset of fans who’s goal is to collect Shiny Pokémon. Shiny Hunting is already a process that truthfully is so tedious and lengthy that not everyone can do it. You have to have a lot of patience and be able to have a lot of time available (it can be done alongside other things but you do have to pay some attention to the game still) and they still go out of their way to make this nearly impossible.

Shiny Locking didn’t even exist until gen5 and for a while they only locked the current new Pokémon while previous ones were still huntable. It’s even more ridiculous when most of these Pokémon are available as Shiny in Go (and if it’s some weird way to try to people to play Go, well not everyone can do that for multiple reasons, but especially when Niantic ignores making the game more balanced for all player types)

Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, and Mew have all been around for 27 nearly 28 years. There is no reason to Lock them anymore (especially considering Mew can only be legitimately hunted by buying a Japanese Copy of Emerald or paying for the All in One #151 research in Go)

Did you know Manaphy, a Pokémon released in Diamond and Pearl has been around since 2006?? Do you know how many times it’s been available as shiny??? Never. Seventeen Years and the only way you can legitimately obtain a Shiny Manaphy is by getting a copy of Pokémon Ranger and moving the Egg around until the codes will be right.

There’s no reason to keep locking Legendaries, especially the regular legendaries. If this is about them wanting to keep them for giveaways that’s stupid. Wait and hope the one you want is available as a gift and if it’s not sit there and wait some more.

At the very least they can leave the regular legendaries unlocked and save the Event/Mythical Pokémon for giveaways, but even if they do that they have to actually give away the Pokémon. God knows when Hoopa, Volcanion, Marshadow, Zeraora, Zarude etc etc are going to be given away again

i've been going into the liam tag from time to time the last year where both his fans and people who hated him were Weird about him well before there were any allegations so i would get curious, i don't even remember what started it (maybe it was merely looking for photos that update accounts wouldn't post), but i normally try to avoid going into anything but edit tags for people i enjoy bc there are so many nonsense takes

and of course happening to go through today before the news broke bc i wanted to see what was being said about the abuse as i've only gotten bits on twitter and of course there were many posts rightfully calling it out and all but there's that weird mentality which i was getting a lot more of from twitter but some on here where they're like??? celebrating it and girlboss-ing and i'm just like. okay it's great that you're believing a victim but you're making light of it by talking about it like it's just another stan thing, i have seen that time and time again when this kind of stuff comes out and if people already thought that person was annoying or whatever they're just like "oh yes! i knew it! their career is ruined haha!" and it's like. you clearly don't actually care about the horrible things this person has done and just want to brag that you somehow ~knew~ a stranger's vibes were off and it's so beyond gross like you could use that energy to support a person's victims and instead you'll just try to prove you stan the right people and never the wrong ones or whatever
