Sheogorath: Look, we’ve all been there, right? Letting our fear and anger get the best of us, intentionally expanding the borders of the false world we created.

I felt myself land and suddenly I was stripped of my weapons and armor, having them replaced with the clothes of some dandy fop. More shocking than having my outfit transformed was the banquet I suddenly noticed in front of me with two strange men apparently having tea. One of them was a rather average looking Imperial, but the other was clothed in the strangest outfit of rich red and purple. He spoke in an odd accent as well, and though he appeared younger than his guest, his hair was a snowy white. The conversation quickly revealed that the pair did not care for each other, and the oddly dressed one sent his guest away with a flick of his wrist and a flash of purple flames. Seeing nothing else do be done, I approached the remaining one.

I approached and asked where I was. The strangely dressed man claimed we were inside the mind of historical Mad King Pelagius. Surprisingly calm surroundings, given that. I then asked who he was and he gave me a knowing, yet sinister smile and answered, “I am a part of you, little mortal. A blemish on your fragile little psyche. You know me, you just don’t know it. You can call me Anne Marie, but only if your partial to having an angry immortal skip rope with your entrails! Otherwise, you can call me Sheogorath, Daedric Prince of Madness. Charmed.” I quickly felt faint as it hit me. That mad man had sent me to find his master.... Who else would it be who he would call his master!? When I had recovered from the shock of encountering the Skooma Cat himself, I delivered the message from the man back in Solitude. That his people were missing him, and he said he wasn’t quite ready to leave until he’d had his fun with me. I braced myself for the worst, but he simply handed me a wooden staff with three gaping faces carved into it, he called it the Wabbajack, and challenged me to find the way out of Pelagius’ mind. I looked around and noticed three paths that led from the grove we were seated in. I picked one, and started off.

I heard Sheggorath speak into my mind as I walked down the path. He said this path represented Pelagius’ self-loathing, and I was to be tasked with bringing his confidence up to par with his self hatred. And still, all I had to do it with was this weird staff.

The path ended in a clearing, where I saw a small Pelagius being attacked by a much larger version of himself. I puzzled over what I was supposed to do before I tried casting the staff at the duo. To my surprise, it loosed a ball of red light, that on striking the smaller one, caused him to grow in size. Curious, I tried it again on the larger one, and as I thought, he shrank. From there, it was a small leap to make the small one as large as I could and making the large one small.

After I had finished, and seeing no other options, I walked back to the first clearing and picked one of the two remaining paths.

The next path represented Pelagius’ paranoia. At the end, I found a small arena with two frost atronachs fighting in the pit.

I tried again and again zapping Pelagius’ atronach with the Wabbajack, but to no avail. the other atronach would invariably change immediately after to one that would best his. I watched the two fight a little longer when I was struck by a quite devilish idea. Instead of zapping the atronach, I tried zapping the spectators across the ring. Sure enough, the lot of them vanished when struck by it’s light and Sheggorath congratulated me for figuring it out as I walked back to the final path.

The last path, according to Sheggorath, represented Pelagius’ rampant night terrors, and I was tasked with waking him from his fitful sleep while protecting him from his nightmares. Certainly not an easy task, but it is the last one.

The battle was long, and hard fought. Attempting to wake Pelagius with the Wabbajack caused his nightmares to appear. They started small with wolves, but quickly among them was a hagraven, who caught me with a nasty surprise fireball. I dispatched with the nightmares, though, and Pelagius rose from the bed, and I made my way back to the clearing to finally go home.

Sheggorath was greatly amused by the proceedings, and even by my overcoming his trials, and agreed that a deal was a deal and he would return to the Shivering Isles, his vacation concluded. Before sending me back to Tamriel though, he told me that in return for the amusement he would allow me to keep the Wabbajack. Before I could say anything else, I felt myself falling again.

I felt myself land back where I had been in the Pelagius Wing, and before I could question whether the whole thing had been a dream, I realized I was still dressed in the fancy clothes I had found myself in upon arriving in the grove, and found the Wabbajack among my belongings. Before I could ponder the events much longer, I was reminded of what I was running from as a spectral daedric arrow whizzed over my head and embedded itself in the wall at the end of the hallway.

Realizing it was my only real weapon against the invisible assailant, I picked up the Wabbajack and fired it’s magic at the spot the arrow had flown from. I heard a yelp and what sounded like something falling down the stairs, and cautiously approached. Peeking around the corner and down the staircase, I saw a strange puddle of ooze that smelled of bad meat. If this is the kind of thing the Wabbajack can do, it’ll make for a fine addition to my arsenal.

After a whole days rest to recover from that very stressful night, it was a pleasant surprise to walk out of the sanctuary to the sight of Cicero returning! I knew it was wise to spare him. I greeting him warmly, and he said he was glad to return to his duties as keeper before heading inside. I hope Babette and Nazir aren’t too shocked to see him.

My first order of business back on my feet was to spend all of this gold on restoring the Dawnstar sanctuary. Nazir pointed me back to Delvin for that. I’ll have to remember to ask Delvin what other businesses he has his grubby hands in besides construction. On the way to Riften, I noticed that one of the forts I had cleared bandits out of was now occupied by the Stormcloaks. Bit opportunistic, but It’d be a shame for the place to go to waste, and they did let me pass unopposed.

Delvin was more than happy to restore the sanctuary for a sizable sum. The gold from the assassination more than covered the cost leaving me with a notable amount to pad my own pockets. While I was here, I was feeling a bit guilty for slacking in my thieving duties, so I picked up some jobs from Delvin and Vex. I owe it to them after being gone so long.

Upon returning, the place is already looking much better. Delvin’s men sure do work fast. I’m particularly pleased to have the stained glass back in. Delvin even took the trouble to use it to conceal a secret passageway out of the sanctuary. Will come in handy if we ever get raided again, S’rendarr forbid.

On my way back out to handle those jobs for Delvin and Vex, I recieved a very odd letter claiming I am somehow related to Amaund Motierre and entitled to inherit a small parcel of gold once belonging to him. After the tax and transport fine, it’s only 90 septims, but it’s nice still.

While visiting solitude to nab some jewels off a priest, I encountered this man. He was clearly mad, said something about needing to retrieve his master from his vacation and handed me a pelvis bone. I did want to help him, so I asked for some clarification, and he said his master was on vacation in the Pelagius Wing of the Blue Palace. I told him I’d check it out, and he thanked me profusely before wandering off.

I asked Falk Firebeard, the steward of the Blue Palace, about gaining entry to the Pelagius Wing after I found the door locked. He claimed the area was haunted and forbade me entry. However, he also let it slip that the maids of the palace also have keys.

The maids were much easier to convince of my capability, and they handed me a key readily. While I have Namiira’s Bane, I have nothing to fear of any silly ghosts.

Unfortunately, there were no mere ghosts in the Pelagius Wing, but through the eyes of a Khajiit I percieved the shadowy form of none other than a spectral daedra! I quickly floored him by striking at his legs with Windshear and ran deeper into the halls. As I sprinted from the concealed assaultant, I felt myself suddenly falling, and nothing would prepare me for what I was falling into...

Sheogorath ~ Adam found a headcannon online that said that the hero of Kvatch from Oblivion ascended to become Sheogorath (since he says that he had a hand in the Oblivion Crisis and returned to Jyggalag at the end of Oblivion) and I lost my shit.

*~~SKYRIM TV: EP74 'THE MIND OF MADNESS (Role-Play) by paulsoaresjr~~* I fucking love this guy. He's hilarious and he has near enough 80 videos dedicated to him playing various parts of Skyrim and commentating over it and I just find it really funny. I picked this one because I was having trouble deciding which one to pick and I'm a massive fangirl/fan of Sheogorath ahaha. Fellow Skyrim/TES fans, check it out!
