This was a quick project that I did for Halloween last year. The concept sprung from watching old films like White Zombie and Dracula.
I've always kind of been fascinated with the idea of a bride that was left at the alter or her groom was murdered just hours before the wedding and in her grief she throws herself from a cliff (or tower, or window, the list goes on) all for the sake of lost love.
So in honor of that age old story I created a 1920's flapper bride out of an old grey bed sheet and draped old toupe colored lace over. The result was actually very nice.
Later that night though I actually ended up being a zombie because I couldn't resist the scare factor. :)
Ghostcore is an aesthetic revolving around ghosts, spirits, cemeteries, and the eerie feeling surrounding them. Ghostcore involves two different factions, one focuses on death and the philosophy behind the meaning of life and death, and the other faction takes the macabre and depressing and makes light of it. People may often relate to ghosts or wish to live as one. This provides a similar overlap with Voidpunk, and is a part of the Otherkin community. The aesthetic of ghostcore is described as "dark, haunted, and ethereal-like landscapes, cemeteries, the spiritual world and connecting to it, haunted artifacts, dark and mysterious history, legends and ghost stories, and more" according to a private Ghostcore Facebook page. The community is open, casual, and accepting of all who are accepting of them.

I figured now that I’ve got an entire sideblog just for this fandom, I would occasionally post some old-ish sketches every now and then in between the newer fanarts and textposts. So here:
1) The werecat lady, who has no canonical name so I just call her Catherine (ignore the couch, I can’t draw furniture for the life of me)
2) Sally and Catherine with my melody and kuromi cause I thought it was cute and the aesthetics matched (I will make a sanrio reference out of literally anything and you can’t stop me)
3) Brides galore. Emily, Constance, and Melanie ft the phantom looming in sinisterly (also my interpretation of Emily is mainly based on the Tokyo bride cause I adore how she looks)

The new Haunted Mansion Behind the Scenes video has a side by side between Constance and the Movie's Bride. I LOVE this redesign with all the flowers. Looks like Winona Ryder isn't Connie, but I think she looks fantastic.

Jack as the Hatbox Ghost?
Nana has big ghost bride potential but
Tumblr media
I just can't imagine Jack as a legit hatbox ghost. I can easily see him getting his head stuff in a hatbox as a ghost tho.

Propaganda under the cut
The Beating Heart Bride X The Hatbox Ghost (Heartbox) - Disney’s Haunted Mansion
These two don't have one canon personality (the HM franchise, the lore and its characters have the particularily to change in every adaptation) and in her case not one design (though I love her faceless bright eyed shadowy look, creepier and less human) and Disney tries to make us believe she never existed or is the Black Widow Bride, all I know is that back then the Beating Heart Bride aka Emily and the Hatbox Ghost were canonically groom and bride haunting the attic together and their gigs worked together. The potential of a romance between such creepy odd looking ghosts with the taller younger woman and the smaller older man always fascinated me and sounds much more interesting than the other adaptations that depict her with Mr Prettyface Ghost (Master Gracey)
James P. Sullivan and Mike Wazowski (MikeSulley) – Monsters Inc
No submitted propaganda

Dear father…
“Dear, sweet Constance. Poor child! Poor, poor child. Did you know that her mother supposedly killed her father in a fit of rage? Found an axe and took his head off in a single swipe. It’s supposedly still in the house somewhere, just bones and a wandering spirit. Mon dieu! How tragic. How horrible!”
I like to think Constance taking the heads of her husbands is a learned habit. It was, after all, what mother did to father when he threatened to leave them.
‘When a man threatens to turn tail, or has eyes for a younger broad, take his head so he’s yours forever. Don’t let that dog run, Constance. Best to put him down swiftly.”
At least…that’s what Dame Peatcleaver used to tell her young daughter when she allowed her to hold father’s beheaded skull, a hatchet still in his head.
