“You’ve come for your turn early,” the stranger says, turning to look at Boba as if Gregor does not exist. Gregor flashes Boba a grin, all too-sharp teeth, as the stranger steps away, shaking off the attractive glamour as if it’s nothing. Gregor seems as delighted as Boba is troubled to realise that their would-be customer is more cunning than he seems.

Allow me to recommend one more awesome Bobadin fic - since @sidhebeingbrand and @toughbreaks were kind enough to let me illustrate their fic for my "Jaster lives" square for @bobadinweek's Bobadin AU bingo card... with a bit of cheating - my love for which only grows and grows with time (and trust me, it does get better with every re-read! ). Fantastic and delightful world building with Victorian era and fae magic, and beautifully written characters where every single one of them vibrate with life. (Boba gets to suffer his 99 siblings, Jango is forced through some emotional catharsis kicking and screaming, and Din is trying his best to be a dad of a fae child. It's just the best, okay?) I'll eventually want to make one more drawing for chapter 2, I just realized during my latest re-read that I imagined the whole scene wrong ^^;

The water was freezing as it wrapped icy tendrils around her body, seeping past her armor and soaking her flight suit, seeping past her flesh until it was piercing her bones, shattering marrow under the weight of it’s demands. The light in her rangefinder flickered out the deeper she sank, blue tinged fingertips reaching for the surface with the last of her strength.
The water stung at her open eyes as it seeped into her helmet, suffocating her as it bled into her heaving lungs; Sabine Wren was dying, yet she felt more alive than ever.
“It’s not your time, ad’ika.”
The Mandalorian flailed in the water, darkness surrounding her as she looked for the voice. The ice was numbing into a calming warmth, but the voice ignited fear like an inferno to battle the chill. Strong arms wrapped around her abdomen, prompting her to fight back, kicking and struggling, even as another light in the darkness caught the metallic gold of eyes as large as her head.
“Cin Vhetin, Mand’ika.”
Someone was pulling her back, the surface was closer, and the rumbling of the darkness’s voice eased her fight against the stranger.
Metal smacked into the ground with a loud clang, a weight settling on top of her as her savior fell on top of her, water dripping from both of their armor as the larger Mandalorian pushed off of her.
Sabine’s body wracked with sputtering coughs as her helmet was pulled from her head, light from the torches chasing away darkness as her head turned, coughing up mouthfuls of water as she was turned onto her side.
As water was expelled and oxygen slowly found its way back into her lungs, her Mandalorian savior finally moved off of her, removing their own helmet as Bo-Katan knelt close to the younger woman. “You in there, verd’ika?” Bo-Katan finally spoke, reaching to rest two fingers against Sabine’s spazzing pulse point.
Golden eyes finally opened to the low light of the living waters. Kneeling beside her, Bo-Katan was brushing soaked purple hair from her face, as The Armorer stood closest to the entrance, arm extended to keep Shin back, both goran’alor and dar’jetti watching with neutral expressions, body language primed to spring forward the moment they were cleared.
“I’m okay,” Sabine rasped, flexing her fingers together to try and chase some warmth back into the numb tips of her fingers. “I’m okay,” It sounded less convincing than she meant, as her body started to tremble. Bo-Katan looked to The Armorer for aid at last, allowing the two women further into the cavern.
Only parts of her felt cold, the rest of her body had long since gone numb to the cold that had wrecked her nervous system. Two pairs of hands worked to pull her armor away, as The Armorer unwound the fur from her armor. Shin and Bo-Katan worked on pulling away her flight suit, exposing herself to the warmer air beyond.
Once she was bare, a dark, thick, woolen cloak was wrapped around her shoulders, falling at the tops of her thighs as the blonde settled at her back tucked her into it. The Armorer’s fur was wrapped around her hands, bringing the aching warmth back into her fingers enough for her to feel the effect the water had on her again.
A conversation was happening between the two Mandalorian’s and the Gray Jedi around her, though she couldn’t hear past the blood rushing in her ears. Shin’s chest against her back was enough to hear the soothing rumble of her voice as she conversed on the Artist’s behalf.
The Armorer was the one to lift her from the floor, arms settled under her thighs and allowing the sopping wet Mandalorian to tuck into her neck, arms trapped between their chests, still wrapped in the warm thick fur. Shin stood to fix her cloak, allowing Sabine the coverage and the warmth  as she fixed the way dark cloth fell.
Raspy breaths were hidden in The Armorer’s neck, chasing the warmth that seeped through the fabric of her neck seal as the woman led the concerned parade out of the caves. Shin and Bo-Katan shared the burden of Sabine’s armor and frigid clothes, bundled up haphazardly between them as they followed the quick pace set towards the med-tents on the planet’s surface.
The next time Sabine found consciousness, it was in the shock of a heated blanket as it was settled across her body; She couldn’t tell how much time had passed, except now, she was laid out on a cot, with the scratchy feeling of fresh clothes on her skin and the tingle of medicine in her blood, dulling the pain at her shot nerves. “What…?” She tried to sit up, being stopped by  a pale hand that guided ehr back down.
“Easy, verd’ika. You need to get warm,” Bo-Katan’s voice was strained with worry as  she stood at Sabine’s side, unarmored and equally wrapped in new, warm clothes.
“What happened?” Her voice was scratchy from throwing up excessive amounts of water, vision still spotty as she shifted under the blankets. Her knees knocked together, skin cold where it slid together as she curled into a tight ball beneath the warmed blankets. “Shin..?
“Your Kurs’kaded went with the Goran’alor to secure your gear,” The Mand’alor lowered herself back into her post at Sabine’s bedside, sinking into the chair as she brushed her fingers through her hair. “You almost drowned, you know.”
Sabine’s brows pulled together, lips pulling into a frown as she turned to the unarmored woman. “There’s no way,” She denied vehemently, shaking her head even as the memories bubbled to the surface. “There might be… some way… Bo, was there something else down there?”
She remembered golden eyes, like her own, and the calming rumble of a voice that shook the ice from her bones, the promises of a new beginning, the feeling of the water washing away the grime of her doubts and troubles.
Looking to Bo-Katan, she saw the knowing smile and the twinkle of recognition in her eyes. “The Mythosaur…” Sabine realized, and while the woman beside her was not in her armor, she could still picture the new silver pauldron that had adorned her shoulder, protected by the Mandalorian beast of legend.
“The bombs opened the Living Waters to a deeper network of caverns below, I met them when I first came here with Din Djarin, saving him as he atoned for the sins against his covert. I was promised another chance; and with it-” Her hand gestured to the room around them, though Sabine knew it was for Mandalore as a whole. “We got to come home.”
The air shifted in the room as Bo-Katan leaned forward, elbows on her knees as the smile slipped from her lips, watching Sabine with an understanding that the artist didn’t want to offer any power to. “What were you trying to accomplish, going out that far, Sabine? The drop was marked,”
“I don’t know,” She shot back quickly, staring at her hands beneath the blankets. Bo-Katan didn’t accept it as an answer and Sabine could feel the way her eyebrow rose in response. “I’ve been so…” Frustration had her gritting her teeth; this wasn’t something she thought she’d have to talk about, Ahsoka had so finely skirted the issue, and Shin had needed her to be there, but now that things were mellowing out again, that old, oppressive sinking feeling had settled back in.
“Kyrunyc…” It was the closest word she had to the feeling, to the hopelessness that had plagued her since the night of a thousand tears.
“I understand,” Bo’s hand reached out to settle on her thigh, a frown pulling at her lips as green eyes finally pulled away, staring at the unique threading in the blanket. “Did you find what you were looking for, then?”
Sabine blinked, head turning to stare at the older woman, even as she refused to meet her eyes. “I don’t know what I was looking for…”
“But you found something?”
“I did,”
“Cin Vhetin, Ad’ika.”

About Me: Favorite TV Shows
I'm gonna be honest with all of you: I'm not much of a TV show guy. I'm just typically not one who likes sinking a lot of time into something unless it's a video game with a lot to do in it. This is why I review movies; they're typically the perfect length for my easily-distracted ass to take in.
But still, there are plenty of shows that have broken that rule and managed to keep me engaged and coming back for more. Some of these are favorites from my childhood, while some of these are more recent shows I finally decided to watch. It's a nice mix, but the main thing here is that all of these shows are something truly special to me considering I took the time to watch them all.
There's a few honorable mentions to go over. The four biggest ones are The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, and Rick & Morty. I love all four of these shows... for the most part. My issue with all of them is that despite having stretches that are some of the greatest ever in TV history, they also have huge chunks of absolute dogshit to the point it is debated to this day at which point the shows fell off, or if they even managed to get back on. And sure, every show has bad stretches, but with most of these shows being long running programs and all of them being massive cultural phenomena, it sticks out a lot more. Rick & Morty in particular was hit really bad by this. The reason these shows don't get on while I have other long runners with bad stretches on the list is simple: When these shows are bad, they're offensively bad. Like the middle seasons of SpongeBob are bad, but at least they don't have his giant sperms come to life and impregnate his sister's egg to create a giant incest baby or have an overly long sequence in which he vomits after finding out he fucked a trans woman.
Other honorable mentions include: Batman Beyond, Chowder, Catscratch, Codename: Kids Next Door, Fraggle Rock, Good Omens, Malcolm in the Middle, Heroes, Cardcaptor Sakura, Invader Zim, Ben 10, Gargoyles, and The Mandalorian.
30. Captain Planet and the Planeteers
Tumblr media
I had to find a way to squeeze one "so bad it's good" show on the list, but how? Making a show that's pure camp is more difficult than making a movie like that... but they somehow found a way by giving us the adventures of racially diverse eco-warriors fighting against pollution with the held of an absolutely ripped planetary avatar with a green mullet who spouts an endless stream of cheesy puns and one-liners that would make even Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze take pause. Every time this show is on, you bet your ass I'm sitting down and watching; it's the most beautiful cheese there is.
29. Bluey
Tumblr media
My wife and I caught this on TV during a Disney vacation and we ended up loving it! This turned out to be a blessing, because a while later we had our first kid and she's obsessed with the show (she's going as Bingo for Halloween this year). It's such a cute, charming children's show with relatable messages for both kids and parents, as well as a shockingly good score. It genuinely is one of the best pieces of children's media out there, much better than shlock like Cailou or Peppa Pig (are those shows even still on?).
28. Jackie Chan Adventures
Tumblr media
Cartoons based on celebrities tend to suck balls, but maybe they were picking the wrong celebrities the whole time. Maybe instead of MC Hammer, they should have picked everyone's favorite homophobic, PETA-supporting Chinese nationalist action star, Jackie Chan! This show is literally the Saturday morning cartoon. It really had it all: Wild animated action, mystical artifacts acquired through Indiana Jones-esque adventures. all sorts of crazy monsters and supernatural entities, and memorable characters like my man Tohru, who walked so Prince Zuko could run.
27. Sailor Moon
Tumblr media
I think everyone remembers their first anime, and this was mine. My mom loved the show, so I ended up watching it a lot back when it was airing on the early iterations of Toonami, and it has made me a lifelong magical girl fan. Maybe Cardcaptor Sakura and PPMM did that whole thing better, but neither show had Sailor Mars, my first anime crush. All that aside, the cheesiness and the sheer earnest power of love and friendship that managed to solve every problem is just peak fiction... I just wish it was nearly as good as the manga.
26. Green Eggs and Ham
Tumblr media
If you told me way back when that someday there would be an adaptation of the Dr. Seuss book famous for containing a very limited number of words that expanded on the story, added drama, and threw in a villain who is a blatant spoof of former president and eternal idiot Donald Trump, I think I might have stared at you in utter confusion. And if you told me this show would actually be good, I'd be doubly confused. Thankfully, the show is really damn good, with an impressive cast and good humor that manages to capture the whimsy of the wubbulous world of Dr. Seuss perfectly.
25. Inhumanoids
Tumblr media
I think everyone has a soft spot for an 80s toy commercial, but where most would pick Transformers, My Little Pony, or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, my favorite of the lot was this obscure gem of a show. It's such a fun introduction of horror and Lovecraftian abominations to a young audience, and a lot of it is still unsettling and dark to this day. D'Compose will eternally haunt my nightmares between that raspy voice and the gruesome transformations he inflicts on his victims. Good shit!
24. Danny Phantom
Tumblr media
Forget that stupid fairy show, this right here is the best thing Butch Hartman ever put his name on. It's a loving tribute to comic book superheroes in the same way Ben 10 was, but I think this show is ever-so-slightly better due to its blend of supernatural and sci-fi working really well (and also it doesn't retcon all magic as being alien energy or whatever the fuck they did with Gwen in the sequel series). The only thing holding it back from a higher spot is how hilariously bad the finale is and the rather scattershot quality of the final season in general. Too many loose plot threads hanging for my taste.
23. The Boys
Tumblr media
Seth Rogen has seemingly made it his mission in life to adapt all of Garth Ennis' work in a way that makes it not suck ass, and boy am I here for it. Adapting one of Garthy-boy's most repulsive and spiteful works and turning it into a genuinely great superhero show that satirizes celebrity culture instead of just taking a huge shit all over comic book superheroes was really the way to go, and watching Anthony Starr and Karl Urban command the screen every time they take center stage is a blast. Sure, it's still gory and lowbrow, but it's done in a way where it's honestly appealing as opposed to whatever the fuck Ennis was doing.
22. Mystery Science Theater 3000
Tumblr media
I mean, it should be pretty obvious that I love this series, right? If you ever had the misfortune of watching a movie at home with me, you'd know I just do not shut the fuck up and spend a lot of the runtime either pointing out trivia or cracking jokes, and it's mostly because of being inspired by this show. It's also partly because I'm annoying, but that's neither here nor there.
21. Batman: The Animated Series
Tumblr media
No fucking duh this is on the list. This is pretty much the definitive portrayal of Batman for a lot of people, one that truly encapsulates everything the character is all about. Kevin Conroy truly owned the titular role, as did his costar Mark Hamill when it came to the Joker, and as if that wasn't enough this is the show that spawned one of my favorite comic characters, Harley Quinn. There's no denying the impact this show has had on Batman as a franchise, but even beyond that it's just a damn good show with really good writing. I sure am glad one of the guys who made it never went and flushed all the good will he garnered from creating this by constantly having Bruce Wayne lust after one of his teenage proteges!
20. Courage the Cowardly Dog
Tumblr media
This show is pretty well-regarded for how it showcased some truly weird and fucked up imagery, but I don’t think any of that would be as resonant without the moments of tenderness and heartfelt emotion, the genuinely amusing slapstick, or the often clever writing. When it comes to episodic shows, variety is king, and this show has that in spades.
19. The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
Tumblr media
This show seems to be an answer to a question no one asked: What if they made Family Guy for kids? The black comedy, the negative continuity, the numerous pop culture references, the grossout humor, the musical numbers… it probably wasn’t intentional, but it sure adds up. The biggest difference is that this show is way more consistent in quality and has Jeff the spider, making it the superior show by a mile.
18. Digimon Tamers
Tumblr media
What do you get when you cross the silly monster battles of Digimon with the writing of the man who brought us Serial Experiments Lain and a heaping helping of Lovecraft? You get this show, of course! It’s darker and more psychological than the goofier seasons before it, and while normally I’d balk at a series shifting tone like this, since this was my first ever Digimon cartoon I watched from start to finish I embraced it with open arms. Hell, this show is probably where my love of psychological and allegorical horror came from. And of course the show gave me yet another childhood crush, and if you’ve read the Rhine City stories I co-author you’ll know exactly which character it was.
17. The Twilight Zone
Tumblr media
The brilliance of this anthology series is just the incredibly wide range it has with the supernatural and sci-fi stories. Sometimes you’ll get a resonant and hard-hitting allegory on a social issue, and sometimes you’ll just get a cool, fucked up horror story where some evil little kid can warp reality and holds an entire town hostage to his maniacal whims. I’ve enjoyed every revival they’ve done over the years, but the Rod Serling original just can’t be beat.
16. Stranger Things
Tumblr media
I’ll admit that it’s really the first and fourth seasons carrying this show to #16; seasons 2 and 3 are wildly uneven, with 3 in particular veering close to the shark-jumping ramp with its cartoonish Red Scare stereotypes. But even in the show’s weakest moments, the characters and how they interact with each other have managed to keep me invested. How can I be too mad at season 3 when it gave my boy Steve (the best character) a new BFF, Robin (the other best character)?
15. Elfen Lied
Tumblr media
I think it’s easy to write this show off as overly gratuitous because, well, it is. Everything here is turned up to 11, from the gore and nudity to the drama and tragedy. I kind of feel the same way about this show as I do for V for Vendetta, where if they cut the crucial tragic backstory it would make the work as problematic as the haters say. But with Lucy’s heartbreaking backstory left intact, it definitely elevates the story into something greater. The manga is still (mostly) better, but I have to give the show credit for introducing it to me, and also cutting out the character who constantly pisses herself.
14. Smiling Friends
Tumblr media
Sure, the wacky shitpost humor and the black comedy are great, but can we just stop and marvel at how uncynical the show is? The core concept is a cheerful optimist and a bitter realist work together in a business that helps people be happy, and despite all the hijinks they get into they typically end up succeeding in one way or another. In a world where so many adult animated shows seem to revel in pessimistic nihilism (cough Rick & Morty cough), it’s nice to see a comedy with similar humor but a more optimistic outlook.
13. Ed, Edd n Eddy
Tumblr media
This is one of the absolute funniest shows ever, making great use of the cartoon world to pull off the most wacky slapstick you'll ever see. But I think what truly pushes this series this high is the absolutely fantastic sound effects and music it utilizes. Like, holy shit this show is on another level. It all goes a long way towards making up for the living sexual assault joke that is the Kanker sisters.
12. SpongeBob SqaurePants
Tumblr media
This show dropped almost nothing but bangers for three seasons, gave us one of the best show-to-film adaptations of all time, generated a near endless supply of memes, and was generally just really fucking funny. And sure, it dipped in quality a bit in its middle seasons, but I think the first three to three four seasons are good enough that they can fuck up as much as they want.
11. Invincible
Tumblr media
Gee Amazon, how come you get to have two of the best superhero shows around? Where The Boys is more of a straight deconstruction of superhero tropes, Invincible feels like something of a reconstruction. We still have an evil Superman and morally dubious good guys, but Invincible himself is utterly unyielding in his desire to be good to the point he manages to break down his evil father’s emotional walls and save the world (for the moment) simply by being a loving son. Unwavering goodness even in the face of genuine horror is badass as all hell.
10. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Tumblr media
Not to be a stereotypical weeb, but this show is simply a masterpiece. Now I will admit, the first half of the show was honestly done way better in the original series, and that one also had some interesting takes on some of the characters once it started diverging from the manga. But this series has a much better finale with way better character moments, with stuff like Envy's final fate hitting harder than anything the original show could muster. There's a reason anime fans suck this show's dick so much; it genuinely is that good.
9. A Series of Unfortunate Events
Tumblr media
I’m sure I wasn’t the only one disappointed that the original movie never got a sequel, so my hopes were high going into the Netflix series. Needless to say, I ended up extremely impressed; considering how they managed to incorporate the VFD plotline from the very start instead of throwing it in later in the series, I might even go as far as to call it an improvement on the books. I think the most surprising thing here is that despite expecting NPH as Count Olaf to steal the show, it’s actually Patrick Warburton’s portrayal of Lemony Snicket himself that brings the whole show together.
8. Peacemaker
Tumblr media
youtube
I think this one speaks for itself.
7. Futurama
Tumblr media
I love all of Matt Groening's shows, from the loose family sitcom shenanigans of The Simpsons to the great overarching plotline of Disenchanted. But it's really not surprising that the middle ground between tightly-plotted continuity and great humor is my favorite of his works. The best part of the show is no matter how many times it ends, it always comes back and finds new ways to bust your gut and tug at your heartstrings.
6. Gravity Falls
Tumblr media
Disney has had many great TV shows in their time, but quite frankly nothing compares to this animated supernatural mystery series about a pair of twins having their summer vacation at a shitty scam shack. The episodes are mainly episodic with hints at the bigger lore, and it doesn't really ever feel like it's dragging its feet. It also didn't overstay its welcome, telling a fantastic story over the course of two seasons before gracefully bowing out while on top. Very few shows can say they ended in top form.
5. Jane the Virgin
Tumblr media
One fine day I came home from work to find my wife watching this on Netflix. Curious, I sat down and watched it, not expecting much... and then proceeded to become so emotionally invested in the show I spent the rest of the series shouting at the screen as if the characters could hear me. It's sweet, funny, and absolutely ridiculous, a loving tribute to the telenovelas that inspired it, and a blessing unto this world for giving us the gift of Rogelio.
4. Avatar: The Last Airbender
Tumblr media
Yeah, real bold and daring of me to say this is probably the best Western animated series ever, but it’s hard to deny that it’s true. With a rich world, excellent characters, and a strong story it’s to the point where the worst episode would be perfectly fine in any other show, and the best episode doesn’t even feature the titular Airbender at all. It’s just that good.
3. Breaking Bad
Tumblr media
You know me, I love character studies of awful people, and few fictional villains are as awful as the egotistical meth manufacturer Walter White. Watching his rise and fall, the numerous moments where he goes further beyond the pale than before, is endlessly gripping, and the fantastic cast of characters helps keep things just as good even if we aren’t following Walt. Mike, Jesse, Gus, Skyler, the Salamancas, Hank, Saul… all of them are fantastic in their own right and could easily carry their own show. Speaking of which, about that last guy...
2. Better Call Saul
Tumblr media
As much as I think Breaking Bad is objectively the greatest show ever, I prefer Better Call Saul. In hindsight, you can kind of tell Walter was bad from the start, but Jimmy “Saul Goodman” McGill? We watch him go from a morally dubious but ultimately well-intentioned man into the sleazy bastard he was in the original show, and it is genuinely heartbreaking. This show makes you truly dread the moment Jimmy fully becomes Saul, and considering how beloved the funny lawyer man was that is no small feat. The story of a good man falling from grace only to ultimately claw his way back to ultimately reclaim his humanity in the end… it’s beautiful.
1. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
Tumblr media
I don’t think I could possibly overstate the influence this series has had on me and my writing. The personalized superpowers, the meaningful names, the numerous musical references, the unashamed embracement of even the most ludicrous elements of the stories… If you read the Rhine City stuff you can clearly see where I’ve let the JJBA influence seep in. But even outside the influence, it’s just a damn good action/adventure series, with no part being truly bad (4 - 6 are my favorites, though). It’s never a dull moment watching what sort of insane feats the Joestar family and their allies will pull off against the increasingly deadly forces of evil; here’s hoping we get to see Steel Ball Run sooner than later.

KenUno on deck!
Tumblr media
I watched first two episodes of season 3 of Mandalorian while I did these, all I can say is *spontaneously cries* (about the episodes and these sketches). It’s Unohana’s turn to be Yachiru’s perch. Also of course I used photo references of my beloved Pedro Pascal for both of these sketches, in the spirit of the Mandalorian. This is the way.
(ALSO OK NO THOSE TWO MANDO EPISODES DIN WAS SHOWING GROGU HOW TO USE THE SHIP TO NAVIGATE AND I WAS JUST WRITING SOMETHING SIMILAR BETWEEN UNOHANA AND YACHIRU LAST NIGHT; I WATCHED THE EPISODES FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY; I SCREAMED)
Tumblr media
(This pic is modern/actor AU)
I strive, to give Unohana more expressions. She deserves to be in a silly goofy mood and have more varied facial expressions. Im not saying it’s a fault of her character because I understand that it’s probably just how she is, and not every character in Bleach canon is gonna have exaggerated expressions. But this is my house now. This is also very tame, I want to do more tho.
They’re getting ready to sit and watch The Mandalorian too!
Tumblr media
Kenny is starting to grow his hair out for the show! Also wanted to mess around with some tattoo ideas.
Tumblr media
He has at least one (1) Star Wars tattoo I’m sorry. I also caved and gave him a little bit of scruff and my brain stopped working. Fully. I stopped and stared for five minutes at this.
Tumblr media
She saw the opportunity and took it. They’re great with their neighbors and have a lot of driveway chats. They’re also the best house to go to in their neighborhood during Halloween!
Tumblr media
He’s so ✨soft✨ for Unohana, I need to lay down.
We are interrupting the regularly scheduled KenUno content for a Gild Tesoro resurgence:
Tumblr media
I FINALLY finished this, it’s been a WIP for a while, but it’s done! Yes once more, Pedro Pascal was the original reference.
Tumblr media
This was originally for a Soul Mates bingo event that I never finished, because of work :/
My prompt was Haki. So, if you’ve ever played OP: Burning Blood and went to Tesoro’s description/stats, it states that he has Haki ability. But never stated which kind. I rolled with that and decided to give him armament Haki. It kinda fits that he wouldn’t rely on it in canon, because he’s so full of himself.
I wanted him to have a little one on one fight with - a certain flamingo themed disaster.
Tumblr media
Old Tesoro/Stella art, cropped because it’s a little NSFW 👀

Anakin and Luke for the character bingo!!
Tumblr media
Luke Skywalker, who has done nothing wrong in his life. Sequel trilogy? He didn't show up in that, don't know what you're talking about. They wouldn't assassinate his character, after all.
One of my first blorbo's, I've been obsessed with Luke Skywalker - and being like Luke Skywalker - since before I can remember. So I get just so excited for new stuff with him in. Like the Mandalorian or The Book of Boba Fett. Obviously not the Sequels that did not have him in there. *If I repeat it enough times, reality will surely mold to my wishes...*
He really does go through just so much trauma, but he was the new hope for the galaxy and it was because he never lost hope that he could reach past Darth Vader's sunk cost fallacy issues and remind Anakin Skywalker there was a better way in the end.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile there's Anakin Skywalker who, once he stopped being the most adorable pod racer, did everything wrong with his life. Oh my gosh. Except for saving Luke, he gets props for that.
There are definitely times I could swear the lights are on and nobodies home, he makes such terrible decisions. Definitely the sunk cost fallacy at work with him. If he keeps trying obviously this bad path will turn good. Right???
I think the biggest missed opportunity with his character was for him to be turned against the Jedi and the Republic by Palpatine over the use of a slave clone army. Like... his dream in The Phantom Menace is to go free all the slaves, Palpatine could have played him so badly - and way more understandably than in canon - if the story had taken that route.
I do also think that killing the Sandpeople village in its entirety - and can we stop massacring Sandpeople in Star Wars media??? - was way too heavy handed foreshadowing. Having Anakin manage to get a hold on his rage before he went to far there could have gotten the foreshadowing across while making it all the more tragic when he does finally fall. And it would have made Padme's 'we all get angry' commentary and jumping right into marrying Anakin more understandable.
Anyway, I do love his character overall; he's a very interesting take on a fallen hero. But I would totally yoink his life support suit to save any number of characters.

PoliZ's WIP Update - 27 Dec 2023
A slow-ish writing week, but I’m okay with that, considering the holidays. I touched  4 fics (3 new works & 1 WIP)  for a total of  1917 words.
On Ao3, I posted:
Three holiday ficlets:
Deck the Halls -  a No Powers AU Stucky meet cute/meet ugly while dealing with a Karen.
Making Room  - Post-Endgame Morgan and Tony talking about a family friend  (background WinterPepperony)
I Need a Little Angel Sitting On My Shoulder - No Powers platonic Stony AU with Tony in recovery and Steve as his sponsor.
Reluctant Four Footed Heroes -  Established relationship Stucky + Alpine and Dodger
Chapter Nine of  Never More to Go Astray -  Star Wars fusion with eventual Stuckony - finally wrapping up this fic!
On Tumblr I posted:
A (Not So) Misplaced Gift -  Bucky isn’t sure what to do with the magical gift he’s been given; Steve has some insight.
I have 16 semi-active WIPs   that I’ll be carrying over into the new year 😬 with my  current  deadlines being the Stucky’Verse Bingo which wraps on 29 Dec and the Bucky Barnes Bingo which wraps on 10 Jan.
See  below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc.  As always, feel free to send me   prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding  any of these projects  or any other WIPs I’ve got out there.   Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!
Seek & Destroy Collab
After reading @psychiccatpanda‘s amazing   Morguna and the Green Queen, I  got the itch to explore the Soldier’s POV and talked  Faustie into   collab’ing with me!  We’re working on a new part of the series, and I’ve  contributed about 900 words towards the  2500-ish we have so far.   Going to see if I can squeeze any of my BBB squares into this fic.
Stucky’Verse Bingo Round 1 - [SVB_R1]   (Ends 22 29 Dec)
Seventeen  fills, three  WIPs and a couple of ideas.  Have one bingo & am shooting for hopefully one more bingo with the fics listed below - thanks to the mods extending the deadline by a week!
* B2- Pets - Posted Reluctant Four Footed Heroes  on Monday.  It was  inspired by a round of square interpretation during the BBB Discord party.  Stucky domestic shenanigans with Alpine & Dodger which  came in at 226 words.
* A4 - Fairy Tale Curse  - Despite being custom-made for a continuation of Beyond the Beast,  I just haven’t been able to to pull anything together in time.  😞
* C2 - Meet Ugly - Posted  Deck the Halls  on Friday - a No Powers AU holiday fic that crossed over with my Winter Break Advent calendar prompt Day 1:  Putting Up Holiday Decorations at the Hospital.  It came in at 517 words.
Bucky Barnes Bingo  - [BBB_R5]   (Ends 10 Jan 2024)
I’ve got  twenty-two fills for  four bingos, four WIPs,   and a couple more Vague ideas. Aiming for a blackout - we’ll see how close I get!
* B3 - Sunrise/Sunset -  squished this into Chapter Nine of  Never More to Go Astray  to wrap up my Star Wars fusion fic with  Jedi!Steve,  Mandalorian!Bucky and fugitive!Tony in a Stuckony finale.  It came in at 781 words and posted this morning.
* U3 - Fireplace -  posted  Making Room  on Friday - a soft WinterPepperony + Morgan holiday ficlet that came in at 256 words.
* C2 - Yelena Belova–   The plan is to use this prompt in the next chapter of Peresmešnik,  (aka Three Avengers and a Baby), which is I poked at a little recently and is currently sitting at 1551  words (800-ish of which are mine).
* C5 - Marriage of Convenience/Pretend Couple -  planning to use this in the next chapter of   Lady Natasha’s Consort and Lord Steve’s Companion.    Got a spark of an idea the other day that might get me a bit further on this fic.
* K3 - Magic -  Wrote up A (Not So) Misplaced Gift as a crossover with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt   [#FFF232 Among Any Option]. It came in at 301 words and will  post to Ao3 before this event ends.
* May Adopted - Insomnia - finally got this filled with The Dead of Night, which also filled a Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF211 An Old Friend] along with my JBB FREE square. It came in at 317 words and will post to Ao3 before this event ends.
* August Adoptable: Take the Shot - Got inspired by a  discussion over on the BBB Discord server about which Avengers would be the best at pool/billiards -  pulled in a BaBB December prompt: Wingman and kept my original  WinterHawk pairing to write up It’s In the Way That You Use It - a No Powers AU with a meetup at a bar pool table - Natasha and Steve acting as the wingman/woman. It’s coming in at 1313 words and will post Friday.
Tony Stark Bingo Round 7  - [TSB_R7]   (ends 15 Feb)
Twenty-one  fills and zero WIPs as of the moment, with a couple of ideas in play.
* S1 - Galaxy -  see BBB Sunrise/Sunset.
* T2 - KINK: Cock-blocking 'bots -  I still want to combine this with  the  Fictober Day 27: prompt   "I don't know if they will accept this."
* T5 - Shawarma - possible crossover with SAUB Canon Divergence – Battle of New York-related?
* A2 - KINK: Concubine - possible crossover with SAUB Gentle Dom  and SRB Multiple Submissives.  I’ve got a fairly fleshed out  (so to speak) story in mind   (Dom!Tony/sub!Steve/sub!Bucky) - just need to get it on paper.
* A3 -  FREE  – @SomeSortofItalianRoast and I are looking at collabing on a  Steve/Tony/Scott fic - still need to throw some ideas around on this.
* R5 - Doppelganger/Evil Twins -   The Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF214 Broken Mirror] got me at least a good start on the idea I’ve been playing with for this square. I posted NamNori on Tumblr and have a general idea of how I want to build on it to also fill my SAUB AU: Crack square. It’s currently sitting at 360 words.
Stony AUniverse Bingo  [SAUB_R1] (ends 15 Feb)
Another brand-new bingo I’m helping co-mod!   Six fills, three WIPs and several  crossover ideas already!
* S1 - Edging - Filled this with Ringing in the New, where Tony makes a suggestion to improve/change up their love life. It’s a crossover with a Flash Fiction Friday prompt: How Do You Use ‘It’? and came in at 324 words - I will post it to Ao3 before the event is over.
* S2 - AU: Crack - see TSB   Doppelganger/Evil Twins

* T4 - AU: Canon Divergence - see TSB Shawarma above.
* T5 - AU: No Powers - Posted I Need a Little Angel Sitting On My Shoulder last Friday.  Tony’s struggling with his sobriety during the holidays and reaches out to his sponsor, Steve.   It came in at 484 words and will post on the 18th.
* O2 - Omegaverse - I have a Vague Idea inspired by  @kandisheek’s lovely art piece.
* N2 - Mutual Pining - crossover with CABB Royal Knight?
* N3 - Gentle Dom - see TSB KINK: Concubine above
* N5 - AU: Multiple Identities - Posted  The Secrets We Keep  to Tumblr.  It’s a first person alternating POV ficlet with mutual pining (and secret identity) Stony.   It came in at 314 words and will get posted to Ao3 before the event ends.
* Y4 - AU: Soulmates  -  @chrissihr  posted a cool idea about Animated soulmarks, where  only your SM sees your mark move - may try to do something with this!
Captain (America) Bottom Bingo - Round 2 [CABB] (ends 28 Feb 2024)
I signed up for a 3x3 card for this bingo and have four fills, two WIPs and a couple of crossover ideas.
* A2 - Secret/Forbidden Relationship - see SVB Harem
* B3 - Royal Knight - see SAUB Mutual Pining.
Post July Break Bingo  [JBB_23p] (Ends Apr 2024)
One fill on my  2x3 non-fandom-specific card - still working on  potential crossovers.
* A1 - “It’s you. It’s always been you.” - This might fit in with my TSB Doppelgangers/Evil Twins fill NamNori above :: ponders::
* B2 - Character’s personality is split into two different beings – I’ve never played with Bucky & the Soldier being two different people, but this seems like the perfect opportunity! Will see what might be a good crossover on BBB or WIB (or even SVB)
*  C1 - Touch Starved – another good fit for a Bucky-centric fic. (Steve or Tony or Clint) possibly crossover with BBB Take the shot?
Steve Rogers Bingo - Round 3 [SRB_R3] (ends  15 Jun 2024)
Two fills  - need to ponder possible crossovers, especially with SAUB, SVB   & CABB.
* A2 - Age Difference - see SVB B4 - Sugar Daddy

The Protector
Fandom: Star Wars - All Media Types, The Mandalorian (TV) Pairings: Bo-Katan Kryze &Sabine Wren, Din Djarin & Bo-Katan Kryze Characters: Sabine Wren, Bo-Katan Kryze, Din Djarin  Warnings: No Graphic Tags, Sparring, Depression Era Bo-Katan Kryze Notes: For @whumptober 2023 Day 19 & @sabineweek Bingo Prompt Fill "Mandalorian Protectors" & Sabine Week prompt "Sabine and Bo-Katan." Timeline is set around Mandalorian S3. Prompt: Sabine & Bo-Katan | “I’m not as stupid as you think I am.” “I’ll take one final step, all you have to do is make me.” | Mandalorian Protectors AU Word Count: 3,120 AO3 Link: Here!
Tumblr media
The perimeter alarms went off in a way that brought goosebumps to Sabine’s skin. There weren’t many beings alive who knew Clan Kryze’s ancestral home still sat on Kalevala, and from the list of those alive, even fewer could be trusted to show with less than hostile intentions.
Her helmet was pulled on in short order; Bo-Katan did not utter a word to her protector as she stalked from the desolate Throne Room. Rain fell in thick droplets, rapid in their descent to the earth and in their journey of thoroughly soaking the thick material of Sabine’s flight suit.
The N-1 was bright, chrome plating catching the flashes of lightning as it arced from the skies from several kilometers away. The pilot was just as reflective as his starship, fresh, unpainted armor catching the ever-present gloom of the storm as he landed. There was no Death Watch signet on his armor, and no threat in the way he exited his ship, in fact, the Mandalorian hadn’t even acknowledged the Protector upon his exit, instead turning back to his ship to prepare something from inside.
Sabine’s fingers flexed towards the Westars at her side, peering through the raindrops on her visor as he worked. She could not see what was loaded into the pram, but soon, white-painted durasteel hovered two feet from the Mandalorian’s side, and he’d finally graced her with his acknowledgment. “I’m here to see Lady Bo-Katan Kryze,” He began, the wind caught most of his voice through the vocoder, chin raising as he regarded the strange woman and stranger armor.
“She is not here, you should leave,” Sabine called, shoulders squared and chest puffing out as she regarded the unknown man. Bo-Katan had mentioned a Mandalorian fitting the description of the man, but as her sole Protector, she couldn’t be too careful.
The Mandalorian paused, hopelessness sagging his frame. “Could you pass along a message, from a friend?”
Walking in long strides, Din Djarin had to move fast to keep at Sabine’s heels, the pram floating behind the two Mandalorians, and raindrops falling to the old carpet where it dripped from their armor. Bo-Katan did not raise her empty stare from indents in the floor, even as their purposeful strides bounced off the cavernous walls.
“Lady Kryze,” Sabine pulled her helmet from her head, tucking it under her arm as she approached to bow her head, purple strands of hair falling in her face as she did so. Din seemed taken aback at this, but wisely allowed the Protector to continue once she’d garnered the attention of the Princess. “Din Djarin has come for you,”
The chrome Mandalorian stepped past Sabine, allowing her to take her place to Bo-Katan’s side once more, boots having long since worn into the stone from her weeks of silent vigil at the older woman’s side. “I have come to join you,” He called, imitating Sabine’s posture; shoulders squared, chest puffed out, chin raised. At least an uncivilized member of the coverts could show some respect to the Leader of their people…
For the first time of the day, Bo-Katan’s weight shifted in the throne. Sabine felt the warmth of relief as Bo-Katan’s shoulders rolled. “There’s nothing left to join,” Bo-Katan refused to see it in her grief, that there was something to join, yet Sabine could not step from her place, it was not her duty to make the woman see that, not yet at least.
Sabine’s head turned away as Din turned to stare at her for an explanation. Her teeth gritted and her fingers flexed around the rim of her helmet. It took a lot to keep her mouth shut, but she’d been trained for this, and had devoted her life to this. If Bo-Katan was not ready, Sabine could not force her…
Din’s confusion showed in his tone, his weight moved from the balls of his feet to his heels. “What of your plans to retake Mandalore?”
Bo-Katan scoffed and Sabine winced. “When I returned without the dark saber… My forces melted away,” Those piercing chartreuse eyes settled on her, bringing the younger Mandalorian to attention. She was the only one who’d stayed, after all. She was sworn not to the dark saber, but to Bo-Katan, and would continue to be until her death in battle.
Din still seemed confused by this, his head shook in disbelief. “Then where is the stolen fleet?” He hadn’t spotted the stolen imperial ships on the surface, but he’d known the lengths she’d gone through to acquire such a scale for her nite owls.
The muscles in Sabine’s jaw flexed. She had no kind thoughts on the usurpation of Bo-Katan Kryze for the spineless brute that had rallied her own forces against her. She’d kept her tabs on each of them and had watched every moral Lady Kryze had bestowed upon them all melt away under the promise of a handful of credits. “Making their way across the galaxy..” Bo-Katan answered, beskar catching on the smooth stone of her throne as her weight dropped back again. “As mercenaries,” She added almost sourly.
Din Djarin’s head turned to the protector then, looking at the armored warrior from the paint splatter on her greaves to the colorful mark that named her commander of the guard stamped proudly into her breastplate. “Why have you stayed, then?”
Golden eyes flickered towards Bo-Katan, though the woman had looked away pointedly. “Where she goes… I go,” The younger woman declared pridefully. There would never be any uncertainty about where her loyalties lay, ever since she joined the Mandalorian Protectors and had found the Regent Leader working as a Rebel. Saxon didn’t need her, and Mandalore hadn’t needed another to join the cause of bleeding it dry. Bo-Katan had freed the planet, and herself, and while the Imperials reigned havoc upon their homes, she would never forget the kindness that had come in war.
“Do you still have the saber?”
“...I do”
“Then you lead them,” There was disdain in her tone, Bo-Katan was weary of the interaction already, it seemed. Sabine released a slow breath as she slipped her helmet back over her head, preparing to escort the chrome Mandalorian from Clan Kryze’s castle. “Wave that thing around, and they’ll do whatever you say.”
“So you… gave up your designs to retake Mandalore?” There was a sadness in his voice, one Sabine could echo. Bo-Katan and herself had argued extensively about the planet’s survivability, and if saving their home would even be worth it. Each time, it seemed to only dull the woman’s will to do much more than sit upon the throne and mope.
Coming from Din Djarin, however, this seemed to spark anger. Bo-Katan’s lip curled, and Sabine had to calculate the time it would take her to leap between the two. For a woman who spoke of the heaps of Mandalorian blood spilled by her own, she was always so ready to attack even the slightest offense, to defend herself and her honor, oftentimes forgetting that she had Sabine to help carry that weight.
“Your cult gave up on Mandalore.” She snarled, muscles in her jaw twitching, though neither Heiress or Child of the Watch moved for their weapon, despite stirring hostilities. Still, Sabine took a step down, closer to the apex of tension between them all. “Long before the purge,” A deep breath as the older woman’s brows furrowed, her weight shifted forward and her eyes narrowed. “Where were you then?”
“The Children of the Watch and all the factions that came before,” Her voice dropped; Bo-Katan had never been one to shy away from her part in Mandalore’s destruction or in the part those fallen, fragmented members of her clan had in the division of their people. “Fractured and shattered our people…. Go home… There’s nothing left.” Sabine’s chin dropped at the conviction in Bo-Katan’s voice. It was the same argument, with a different, hopeful Mandalorian in her place.
Din Djarin did not back down, however, and Sabine had to commend such an act. “I am going to Mandalore so that I may bathe in the living waters, and be forgiven for my transgressions,”
There was something familiar in his tone, a voice that had been mimicked by Tristan when he’d run off to the Imperial Academy and returned to Krownest years later with a Jetti and a band of rebels. A promise in his voice that she knew from experience could only be put down with death. Maybe Bo-Katan needed her own Tristan, like she had… A look towards the redhead’s quiet, seething form had told her that no, Din Djarin was not the spark that would reignite the fire of Bo-Katan Kryze.
“You are a fool.” Her weight shifted against the throne once more. The woman was finished with the conversation, that much was clear, as her tired gaze moved to Sabine before lingering back to empty walls, sinking back into the ghosts of her memories, in paintings that had been taken off the walls when the wails of their ancestors grew too loud.
“There’s nothing magic about the mines of Mandalore,” She continued, eyes moving across the stone, as if she was watching the choppy animating of a children’s holofilm play out. “They supplied beskar ore to our ancestors, and the rest is superstition. That planet has been ravaged, plundered, and poisoned.”
“You said that the curse was a lie. Make up your mind,”
Sabine did not often wear her helmet outside of battle, but now she was thankful for the beskar hiding the way her lips split into a smile. He certainly had a fire in him, that was undeniable.
“If you want to go to the mines,” Bo-Katan finally turned to look at him once again. “Be my guest. They’re beneath the civic center in the city of Sundari,”
“Thank you… And I will find out if the planet is really poisoned.” Sabine finally moved from her post to escort the spitfire as he turned away from Bo-Katan.
“Goodbye, Din Djarin.”
“He’s got a point, Lady Kryze,” Sabine began upon her return to the throne room, frowning at the way Bo-Katan sat back on the throne, a gauntleted arm thrown over her eyes in frustration.
“I’m not as stupid as you think I am, Wren,” Bo-Katan snapped without looking at her. Sabine let out a soft sigh as she jogged up the stairs of the throne. The younger Mandalorian sighed as she removed Bo-Katan’s helmet from the side of the throne, setting it carefully on the floor under the hawk-like gaze of its owner until she’d removed her own and set it at her side as well.
Carefully, Sabine perched on the arm of the throne, hands in her lap, nervously picking at the fabric that covered her knuckles. “You’re the smartest person I know, Lady Kryze, nothing is going to change that-”
A scoff from the redhead, as she turned her body to face the back of the throne, armor scraping against each other as she curled her legs onto the chair with her. For someone who stood so tall and took up so much space, it made her chest ache to see her let the world swallow her up.
“Would you like to spar, my lady?”
This, at least, seemed to get some life from the woman. Sabine needed to keep active, and as much as she liked running the trails around the castle or dancing around the cavernous rooms, a good fight was what they both needed to get the blood pumping and burn off Lady Kryze’s simmering stockpile of rage.
Bo-Katan was always a ferocious sight in battle. Being able to witness the woman’s prowess in battle was like having a front row seat to the stories passed down between clans, of warriors with the fires of the Great Forge burning under their hal’cabur, bending the battlefield to their demand as they fought for what was right.
There were no stormtroopers to be found under her fist, yet, as the woman taped her knuckles on the other side of the mats, Sabine could still feel the tangible thrum of anticipation, a thundering in her heart at the promise of being the one to pull the Mand’alor from her stupor, however brief it may be.
Shaking the throes of anxiety from her fingertips, the Protector stretched her arms above her head, palm locking against the opposing elbow until the familiar stretch in her arms thrummed through muscle. Bo-Katan was occupied on the other side; while she did was not one to miss her morning exercises, it had been all too long since she’d allowed the armor to come off. Sabine filed the knowledge away to polish it for the woman later, if all things worked according to plan.
“I can feel your eyes on me, little Wren.” There was humor in her voice was she spoke, yellow-green eyes unblinking as she adjusted the way the dark blue material rested across her knuckles.
“My apologies, Lady Kryze,” The woman’s voice held no apology, but the hints of mirth that Bo-Katan had come to appreciate in her company. A smirk tugged at full lips as Sabine released her arm, swinging them out to loosen up before repeating the process on the other side.
“Alright, Protector, let’s see if you’ve still got it,” There was a spark in her eyes, an ember of something that had been doused by so many before, but not quite put out, not yet, not while Sabine had anything to do with it, at least.
Bo-Katan waited for Sabine to strike first, air displacing around her fist as she jabbed out, using her forward momentum to follow Bo-Katan’s sidestep up with an elbow jabbed outwards. Bo caught the elbow against her forearm, shoving Sabine back to stagger her momentum.
“You start with that?” Bo-Katan taunted, sharp eyebrow raised as Sabine spun on her heel, fingers flexing as golden eyes reassessed.
“Had to make sure you were going to be on your game, this time. Didn’t want to leave you in the dust like-”
Before Sabine could finish, she was put into a terse defense as Bo-Katan snapped forward. Blow after blow was caught on forearms and the meat of her thighs, muscles aching and shaking under the feeling of bruises blooming under powerful hits.
Bo-Katan wasn’t holding back, a smile seemed to pull at her lips as she sunk into the familiar burn, a predator pushing their prey to the bring, playing with their food… It was the most Bo-Katan had seemed like herself since capturing the Imperial fleet and laying eyes upon the dark saber once more.
Before Sabine knew it, a foot was hooking behind her ankle, her body was being pitched forward into a steady column of the older Mandalorian’s body, and, in a last-ditch attempt to regain some control of the situation, they were soon both tumbling to the mats, Sabine’s arms circled around Bo-Katan’s shoulders, pinning one arm under her own as her back hit the mats.
With Bo-Katan’s foot wedged around her shin, the purple-haired Protector was able to koala both legs over the one, knees locking around the thick muscle of Bo-Katan’s thigh as she pitched them to the side, hands scraping, burning against the rough material of the mat as her hands rubbed flat into the floor, pushing herself off the redhead just enough to get a hand on her shoulder.
From the corners of her eyes, she could see the way purple and blue were already beginning to bloom across olive skin, could see the way the freckled skin flushed, sweat-slick and almost shining in artificial lights. Bo-Katan said nothing, breathing through parted lips, a much quieter contrast to the deep swallows Sabine was breathing. Intermingled and tangled, Sabine stared down at the older woman, shock and a sliver of fear at being the one to get the Bo-Katan Kryze on her back.
The silence dragged with Sabine frozen in spot, and Bo-Katan’s eyes raking inquisitively over the protector.
It took a rush of… something, surely not confidence, that had words spilling past Sabine’s lips, words she had mulled over and had not considered articulating when Bo-Katan seemed desperate to stew in her misery. “Lady Kryze-” She paused as if waiting for permission to continue, however, she forged on before the woman could acknowledge her. The younger woman sat up, leaning back against the redhead’s bent knees. “If there is a way to reclaim Mandalore, don’t you think we should? Mandalorians… we’re stronger together,” Her finger twitched against the soft fabric of the woman’s tank top, anxiety brimming over the surface as the embers in her eyes simmered.
“I’ll take one final step,” Bo breathed, voice dark and heavy, lips smoothing into a mask of dispassion as her hands settled against Sabine’s arms, fingertips dancing across bruised elbows before she was guiding the young Protector off of her. Letting herself drop to the mats beside her, Sabine reached to brush her hair out of the way, watching Bo-Katan as she rose and wiped the sweat from her brow. “All you have to do is make me.” When Bo-Katan rose next, she extended a hand down to the woman below her. “Show me…” A pause, like the woman was reconsidering this moment of vulnerability, even with the woman who had seen her through her worst times. “Show me the way, Wren.”
Something itched at the back of Sabine’s mind. The Jetti paired with Tristan’s ‘Ghost’ crew had mentioned the Force to her once, nothing but passing in an explanation of a blind man and his blue son, but from how her vod’ika had explained it, she could only consider it to the feeling of the Manda. When she reached to take Bo-Katan’s hand, there was a flash of the image, distorting in the Manda’s memory of gold and grey armor, reaching to take the blue gauntlet of the woman before her.
Ursa Wren had once been this person for Bo-Katan Kryze, and she had met her end for it, at the hands of Moff Gideon. Bo was danger, she was carnage and blood and ruin. But Sabine always did have an affinity for volatile experiences and people. Ticking bombs were her specialty, and no matter how long the charge that was her Mand’alor lay dormant, Sabine was her mother’s daughter. She knew the risks, and the dangers that came with it, and time and time again, the Wren would follow the Owl to ruin.
Sabine’s hand clasped in Bo-Katan’s as the image steadied, offering a stretch of her lips, a smile as she tugged Bo-Katan until their shoulders bumped. “Then let’s get to work, my lady.”
