hello (one of the) resident phannie data analyst(s) here with some parasocial stats on dnp’s movie tastes! following: distribution of dan and phil's ratings overall, movies they each rated 5 stars, their lowest-rated movies, and the similarities + differences in their tastes
(lore moment: yes i am a data analyst in my real job. yes i surprised myself with wanting to do this in my spare time. but then i remembered when we read dracula in college (yes i was an english major) and i graphed like, how many times dracula was referred to as vampire versus monster or something. so i shouldn’t be surprised.
first up, their overall rating patterns and by ~special status~ (i.e., wall-e, kill bill, avatar, lmao, plus big hero 6 for the fun of it)
dan’s rated 304 movies and phil’s rated 305. both of them have mean and median ratings of 4 with min 1 and max 5.
both rated kill bill vols. 1 and 2 a 5. wall-e got a 4.5 from dan and a 4 from phil (phake phans). both gave avatar a 3.5. and big hero 6 3.5 (dan) and 4.5 (phil)
rating distribution:
i did analyses here by genre but i need to fix the output (i’m writing all of these based on the markdown document from my phone on the subway, but i need to fix the outputs and i don’t have my computer. so those are pending but there are other genre analyses that i could do & haven’t yet!)
while i was sorting through the data i got the impression that dan overall rated movies higher than phil. so, among movies that they've both rated, here's some information

7, 9, 16, 18, 28, 30, 39, 43 (sorry not sorry, I love too many of these) (and treat yourself to any additional ones you want to answer)
7. Name a movie you're emotionally attached to
The Mummy, The Lion King, The Lost Weekend and Notting Hill, all from different era and several reasons.
9. Guilty pleasure movie?
Nah. As in, quote your reply. I'm also no cinephile, so I'm not exactly rabid about high-quality stuff, but I do know what I like. Probably the one more off-beat for me is Stick It.
16. Favourite book to film adaptation?
I'll go with movie and choose both Jurassic Park and Inkheart
18. Favourite actor?
Come on. We all know my one. Mark Sheppard.
To be precise, I wouldn't be so into him if he hadn't been capable to shred my soul while working on various villains from scripts coming from series that weren't... masterpieces.
The magnets for my emotions, aside from him: David Tennant, Kenneth Branagh, Nathan Lane. All of them will convince me that they have felt that emotion, that they've been there, that they have felt things. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis are on that list, too. Daniel Kaluyya and Oscar Isaac are just stratospheric.
28. Have you ever been to a midnight showing?
Yes! Rogue One because Star Wars and American Pastoral because Ewan McGregor and Jennifer Connelly were presenting it and answering questions.
30. Are you looking forward to any upcoming releases?
Honestly, I don't know? There are a couple of movies I'd like to go watch, but looking forward might be a little too big of a term. The crowd of remakes/sequels/prequels and established names sticking to the same thing over and over is making it harder to find new stuff, and I've been both a little busy and lazy to go look for new good stuff.
39. In your opinion, what is the most underrated movie?
Oh, man. I wouldn't know. I really liked Wish You Were Here by Zach Braff and I rarely see it mentioned. I also liked God exists and it lives in Bruxelles and Cafarnao, but I would say they're little known more than underrated. Again, The Lost Weekend is a movie made by Wilder and rarely mentioned in favour of his comedic works.
43. Which movie do you quote the most?
Crap... I don't know about this one, but I think The Lord Of The Rings. It's a three-movie opera and we live in an increasingly dark world, there's a lot to quote.
Special mentions to "Everything you do is bad. I want you to know that." from Ghostbusters II.
BONUS QUESTIONS:
Do you like watching movies alone or with a friend?
Both, but it depends. If I gotta get invested and I know I will get reckt, it's something I would enjoy and other people wouldn't, or my faves are in it, then alone it is. Otherwise, bring on the company!
With snacks. Lots of snacks if it's a shared thing.
This was so fun, thank you!!!

* Does this one actually count as a movie? Feel like it's a bit of a stretch, but it does say "The Movie" right there in the title xD And it's ME, I feel like my list would be incomplete if I didn't include something starring my fave fire boi lol! ** What?! Frozen II on the list, but not the original Frozen?! That's right, it IS possible for one of a person's utmost fave characters of all time to be in a movie they thought was only okay xD Don't get me wrong, I do like Frozen, it just didn't make the cut for this list! Frozen II on the other hand came out in theaters at a time when I only had to pay $15/mo for unlimited movie tickets and I loved it so much, I was seeing it 2 or 3 times a week x'D *** I know rules didn't say to point this out, but I feel like I had to do it anyway: Utmost. Fave. Movie. Of. All. Time. RDJ and Val Kilmer in a comedic whodunit? Movie gold! Watch it. It's good!
Okay, now to tag people! Remember this is just for fun, absolutely no pressure to actually do this, only if you want to! Tagging: @basiliskonline @daughterofkyne @astranovus64 and to anyone else reading this who thinks creating a list of your fave movies sounds fun, I tag you as well! :D

When most people think Michael Jackson and video games, they think Moonwalker, released in 1990 as a tie-in to his earlier film of the same name.
The premise is simple: Michael is off to save scores of children kidnapped by a mysterious villain named Mr. Big.
He defeats his opponents with dance moves, such as spinning, moonwalking and throwing sparkles from his high kicks. One of the moves involve making the enemies on the screen dance like the extras in the Thriller video. Bubbles the chimp appears in the game.
Jackson also makes an appearance in another game: Space Channel 5, a series of games for the Sega Dreamcast. He appeared in the original game, released in 2000, and more prominently in its sequel, Space Channel 5: Part 2, released in 2002. His character is named Space Michael.
He also makes a cameo in Midway's Ready 2 Rumble: Round 2.
It is rumored that he was recruited to do the music for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 but was scrapped after the sexual abuse scandals began to unfold.
When money got tight towards the end of his life he decided to auction off his massive collection of over 100 arcade machines, including massive cabinets lf X-Men, Super Street Fighter II, Crazy Taxi, Donkey Kong, Ms. Pac-Man, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Lethal Enforcers, and Zoltar the Fortune Teller.
