I might just be deep in the Locked Tomb Brainrot at the moment, but this duology of Heaven Shall Burn songs feels like the perfect soundtrack for the finale, and epilogue of Gideon the Ninth.

a notp: I'm not huge on Desire/Corinthian and for the life of me, I couldn't say why, but it's just not my thing. But I never say never: if the right work comes along, it could completely change my mind.

favorite platonic/familial relationships: Oh, Desire & Dream, absolutely. They fascinate me because in some ways, they're so alike, and neither of them want to acknowledge that!

a headcanon that is popular in the fandom but that i disagree with: I actually don't think I have one? I don't see a TON of Desire content (which, boo, me, I need to go find some more), so I'll see if I do bump into anything I don't like!

the position they sleep in: Full starfish, taking up as much room as possible.

a crossover au i’d love to see them in: The brainrot is too strong and I would kill for a The Locked Tomb AU or crossover with them in it. They're so Third House it hurts. In a true crossover event, I would kill to see them meet Ianthe Tridentarius. They'd catty quip each other to death and I would live for it.

my favorite outfit they’ve ever worn: It has to be the Threshold outfit with the cat ears. It's so good, such a look, 10/10, no notes.

Currently Watching: Twin Peaks: The Return; currently I'm 13/18ths of the way there. I also started watching Adventure Time recently, and I was watching LOST this summer but got distracted. I'm thinking about doing a Succession re-watch soon.

Last Movie: I'm trying to watch every Wes Anderson movie in order by renting them from my local library, and I'm more than halfway done! So, my most recent in that regard is Moonrise Kingdom, which was quite fun. Non-Wes, I watched the Favourite recently and holy shit, that's an absolutely incredible film.

Currently Reading:

Non-fiction - I'm currently reading On Lies, Secrets, and Silence, which is a book of prose by incredible lesbian Adrienne Rich. I'm studying for my gender comprehensive next week, so as some last minute prep, I've been reading through a bunch of articles by sociologists who study gender as a macro-level social structure; I've worked through Cecilia Ridgeway and Joan Acker, and will hopefully start reading some more Barbara Risman tonight. I'm also have some works from Raewyn Connell lined up to read on hegemonic masculinity and patriarchy, and I'm very excited to give that another glance.

Fiction - Just finished a re-read of Harrow the Ninth this afternoon! Gonna start a Nona re-read, hopefully on audiobook. I have been very slowly making my way through A Feast for Crows, which honestly has been a great book to pick up and put down. I also have a copy of The Bluest Eye checked out from the library, but I don't think I'll get to it before it's due :(

Sweet/spicy/savory: Sweet, with savory as a close second. Unfortunately, I am a bitch with spice.

Relationship status: You know how in middle school, you used to change your Facebook relationship status to "it's complicated" when you wanted people to gossip about you and think you were interesting? I'm there, except if anyone talks about me I'll start crying

Current Obsessions: I'm finally setting down from an obsession with The Last Of Us that comes and goes; I'm sure it will be back when I sit down and finally play the second game. Some of my friends are reading The Locked Tomb series, so Harrow brainrot has returned in full force. I'm in the middle of a continual Sufjan Stevens obsession, and am slowly making my way through all of his music; I just got his new record on Vinyl! I'm hoping some of my crafting obsessions come back, I miss it, and desperately need to finish crocheting a blanket. Overall, my brain is in exam mode, unfortunately.

Currently working on: Passing my comprehensive exam (on GENDER of all things) and not failing out of graduate school. I'm doing great, of course. Also, eating consistently. Also, being a better friend :)

Prime just cancelled my favorite lesbian led show after it was already renewed for season 2, so I'm feeling hopeless about the state of sapphic TV right now. Got any wlw book recommendations?

I’m not gonna lie. I’m not a huge book reader these days. I’m trying to get into it again, but I’m super slow lol. I’ll read a book relatively quickly but then go months without picking one up again. But here are a few wlw books that I enjoyed:

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon: This is a monster of a book (over 700 pages) but it’s sooo worth it. (The chapters are also short, which helped me fly through it relatively quickly). It’s high fantasy with more than one POV character. Kind of like asoiaf but without the raging misogyny. The book isn’t just about the sapphic ship but their relationship does play a big part. They’re also super slow-burn, which I loved. Ead/Sabran literally changed me it’s been months and my brainrot over them is still strong. Can’t recommend it enough. The author also wrote a prequel that I haven’t read yet, but I heard it also has wlw romances in it.

The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir: Gideon the Ninth is the first book in the series, followed by Harrow the Ninth and Nona the Ninth. (And still ongoing). These books will gaslight you multiple times and confuse you, but I still liked them lmao. Lesbian necromancers in space. And lesbian characters who are very morally grey (some more than others lmao) which everyone knows I love. Gideon/Harrow is a great enemies to friends to lovers.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid: Don’t let the het-baiting title fool you. This book is about Evelyn, a classic actress from the 50’s and 60’s, telling her life story as an old woman to a writer. Through flashbacks we see her rise as a famous actress. And one of the biggest components of her story is her long, secret love affair with another fellow actress. Warning: Lots of period-typical homophobia in this one. This book is very flawed but I still love it.

And I haven’t read it myself yet but I did buy it and plan to: The Rise of Kyoshi by F.C. Yee. If you like Avatar, it’s Avatar Kyoshi’s backstory, who is bisexual. And her love interest in this book is a woman.

….And embarrassingly that’s all I have so far. I’m gonna go ahead and mention @tridentarius here because she’s the queen of reading wlw books.

Just...constant thoughts of Gideon's awesomeness, Harrow messy brilliantness, CamPal being wholesome, Ianthe being her usual unhinged psychopathic self trying to help the necromancy guru being the shittiest dad alive and worst manipulative asshole, while Coronabeth tries to be the most supportive gf possible for her dejected Judith, Pyrrha being an exhausted parental figure for all her traumatized foster children, Nona just being the cutest and most cheerful person alive while inhabiting our fav depressed and gloomy goth girl's body...

I know the book will continue to break my heart, I know it will be painful, I know it will crush my soul...but I can't wait to once again completely lose control over my obsession
