I was so impressed by this quick retelling of the little mermaid in a sci-fi setting. I also thought it was a creative spin--to have the voiceless mermaid translate to an android without vocals

From a short story about an android who develops feelings and falls for a human! She gets a new body but it doesn’t have a voice box AND the guy she’s in love with is in love with someone else AND her new body is going to run out of power after which she will die

I must avenge Linh Cinder- Half joking, I just thought it was an interesting twist on the Little Mermaid story

It's a really cool and creative retelling and the character is really likeable. The story can be read as part of the series it accompanies or on its own but if you love imaginative, romantic (in terms of tone, not romance) sci-fi, this is great.

and I only realized this because when I was writing the tag for the little android I saw the the little mermaid tag?

and it was so obvious too...

in my defense I was only 10 when I first read the series *let's ignore the fact that I have re-read stars above*

I had to clarify that the “current” look is for Season 9, because I’m not sure how or if he’ll change for s10 yet! The “current” version is essentially his updated “default” look! Thought I might mention also that “Back Around” on the loose timeline lineup at the bottom is a reference to a song on his playlist in which he takes some time away from everyone after re-deviating to re-remember and find himself <3

Side note: Etho wears his mask under his chin mostly just around bdubs, but he starts wearing it down more often around doc, tango, or others who are used to seeing the damage. More than anything else, he’s sure to keep it for protection purposes when he’s outside working, exploring, or anything else that isn’t just hanging and chatting with friends :]

Upon reflection Data is so obviously a robot made by someone who's already accidently made an evil robot and is way over compensating this time. Just the gentlest, least evil dude you can imagine.

Stelle is WALL-E....

poor little trash robot, enjoys her work to bits but she gets overworked by greedy higher-ups, which ends with Stelle being sent to repairs with the engineer once or twice, until her owners decide she "isn't worth the money," and they discard her :(((

poor Stelle manages to find her way to you after that, all beaten up and sad AUGH even as a robot she's a puppy

D’AWWWW Stelle being an older model who’s a bit busted up and dirty compared to the sleeker, more efficient models of newer Androids :((

Her owners one day decided that Stelle was simply too old to keep around, and decided to replace her with a newer Trash Disposal Android, kicking her to the streets and leaving her to wander aimlessly through the cyber city without an owner. The only other human she knows of is you, so through days of wandering (bc she’s kinda bad at navigation) she finds your shop again and it’s a pitiful sight. Her plates all dirtied and scuffed up, slightly rusted from the rain, her hair all matted and tangled (it hasn’t been brushed since the last time you repaired her) and it looks like she’s almost out of battery, about to collapse.

Poor Stelle…you quickly take her into your shop to give her a fresh charge and clean up all her neglected plates. The little trash android can’t help but stare up at you with wide, curious eyes as you caress her cheek and replace it with new, cleaner plates this time. (Just like how you did the last time you repaired her)

Once she’s finally affiliated under your ownership, you bet Stelle is trying to find ways to make herself useful. Cleaning all the trash in your workshop, sucking up dust, she’s your little cleaner bot now 🥺 it’s her way of saying thank you for rescuing her <33
