Remember!
Gross does not mean immoral! Morality is not tied to fiction! If you dont like it? Leave! Hit da bricks! You're the only one who can curate your experience here in the internet!
If you attack someone because of what they like to ship, or what they write, you're a jerk! You are not the law, you cannot dictate what others do!
Exactly. A big part of fanfiction is that people can write whatever they want. It is a fun little pastime. It is not a reflection on someone's "morality." What you write or read or watch does not define you. Fiction is just that: Fiction. And fictional characters are not real people, they are toys for us to tear apart like five year old Stacy ripping the legs off her Barbie if we want. A lot of us that are into stories about blood and guts and serial killers would be horrified by that stuff in real life. But god forbid anyone ever enjoy anything that isn't completely pure and good.

DEMO ✝ BACK-UP ACCOUNT
Wealth. Power. Death.
The Ballad of the Young Gods is a dark academia interactive fiction story, with dark fantasy and psychological thriller themes. Some of the romances also contain tropes and storylines which may be disturbing to some readers.
It is based on media like “Ninth House” by Leigh Bardugo, “The Secret History” by Donna Tart, “Masters of Death” by Olivie Blake, and SYFY’s “Deadly Class”.
It is rated 18+ for depictions of swearing, sexual themes, violence, and death.
Getting into an Ivy League school is a dream that thousands of American students nurse from a young age. Luckily for you, that dream is your reality. Four years of continuous hard work and pressure have made you a proud freshman at Yale University. And as if that wasn’t enough, you have been handpicked to attend Rathore College, whose selection process is revered across all the nation’s top educational institutions. But you should’ve known this stroke of luck came with a catch.
Yale is a crucible of power, where secret societies wield arcane magic and the dead are far from silent. The illustrious House of Styx wants you and this is a situation that not even your money can get you out of.
They are powerful, elite, and most of all, controlling beyond recognition. They are also the heart of the eight secret societies that attach themselves to Yale. From the White House to Hollywood’s most acclaimed stars, their influence reaches farther than anyone can dare to imagine.
A sinister conspiracy brews under Styx’s watchful gaze, one that threatens to unravel the fragile balance between the living and the dead. But in a graveyard of secrets, you and your accomplices are the ones with the shovels. You’re now in a world where the past is never truly dead, and the lines between life and death blur with each passing day.
But some secrets are better left buried, and some prophecies are destined to drag you to hell.
Cédric Armand Lacroix / Céline Armelle Lacroix (M/F)
Vindictive. Conniving. Ruthless.
As the heir to the Lacroix fortune, C is every bit as arrogant as their bloodline demands them to be. Even after the messy divorce of their parents which further led to their disownment by their father, Alain Lacroix, they refuse to give up on their dignity. They’ve vowed to destroy him one day and take what’s rightful theirs, brick by brick. The world bent to C’s whims, what money couldn't buy them, those pale green eyes probably did.
There is nothing that they can’t have, especially if they set their mind to that. That is until you came along and stayed one step ahead of them every time in everything that mattered. It wasn’t just the fortune or the legacy at stake; it was the bruising of their pride, the constant reminder that someone—anyone—could outmaneuver them. But beneath the layers of resentment and anger, there’s something more—something darker, even more dangerous.
An obsession takes root, one that blurs the line between hatred and fascination. And they vow to spend their whole life despising you for everything.
Romance trope: Enemies / Academic Rivals to Lovers.
Vance Kasper Næsholm / Vanessa Karina Næsholm (M/F)
Pious. Haunted. Disillusioned.
Raised under the oppressive influence of a rigid, fire-and-brimstone faith in a Danish Catholic orphanage, they were taught to see demons in every shadow and sin in every touch. Forever haunted by the visions provided by a wrathful God they can neither fully grasp their mind around nor escape from, their only reprieve came on the day they got adopted at the age of six and diagnosed with schizophrenia. But the truth of their ‘psychosis’ may be far more sinister than any medical diagnosis could account for.
As the tides become even stormier and their medications become ineffective when they arrive at Yale, all V can do is hold on to the last threads of control over their lives. Your first meeting almost makes them teeter over the edge.
Now that they’re your roommate, they’re bound to you by fate or folly, but whether they’ll be a stable ally remains to be seen.
Romance trope: Roommate Romance.
Wilhelm Johann Ostendorf / Wilhelmine Johanna Ostendorf (M/F)
Exhausted. Abandoned. Lost.
What does the world think of you when you’re a product of brilliance and neglect at the same time? With an Oscar-winning filmmaker for a father and a mother ensconced on the American board of directors at the Louvre, their pedigree is undeniable, yet it is a legacy more hollow than it appears. While their parents sculpted their careers into masterpieces and amassed accolades, they left W to be raised by their paternal aunt and uncle. A sizeable trust fund and periodic checks served as their parents’ only gestures of care, a shallow substitute for the love and attention their only child so desperately craved.
The only times they had felt more than someone who was deeply unlovable were the summers you spent on rusty swingsets and fast bicycles with training wheels. But the swingsets have long been dismantled, and the bicycles have been traded for cars.
The only questions remain—are you the same kid who saw them, really saw them, beyond the reality of being unwanted and the suffocating looks filled with pity that came with their name? Or will this reunion only serve to confirm their deepest fear—that they are, and always have been, truly alone?
Romance trope: Forgotten Childhood Friends to Lovers.
Dumitru Constantin Diaconu / Dumitra Constantina Diaconu (M/F)
Charismatic. Reckless. Guarded.
D’s name is the one that comes up in almost every conversation about Yale’s wildest parties. A natural-born rockstar charmer with a magnetic presence, they effortlessly draw people into their orbit, collecting hearts and bodies with the ease of someone who’s always been in the center of the gold rush. Despite the countless admirers and the trail of broken hearts left in their wake, you’ll always find them with a Marlboro between their lips and a new person in their arms to warm their bed at night. Their smile is a promise, and their laughter a siren call. In the haze of flashing lights and the thrum of bass that pulses through the walls, they are a heartbreaker in every sense of the word.
Feelings are a complication they don’t allow, a line they never cross. They’ve perfected the art of detachment, of keeping their connections strictly no-strings, because to let someone in would be to risk the vulnerability they’ve long since sworn off.
Will you be the only person they'd let peel back the barbed wire surrounding their heart? Or will you be left with nothing but the faint scent of cinnamon and a tale that wasn't meant to be?
Romance trope: Friends with Benefits / Sex First, Feelings Later. [You will only be able to unlock their romance route through a hookup.]
Maxwell Edmund Whitlock-Singh / Maxine Edythe Whitlock-Singh (M/F)
Duty-bound. Noble. Untouchable.
Politeness and decorum are second nature to M. They are the embodiment of manners, a living testament to the art of subtlety in a world where spectacle often trumps substance. They are the sort of person who commands attention without seeking it, a product of both royal blood and rigorous self-discipline. Dubbed the “Paragon of Styx,” M is a modern Plato, someone who finds as much solace in philosophical debates as in the classical texts they’ve devoured in multiple languages. As the second-born child of the Crown Princess of Wales, they have always understood that their life would be one of service with every action scrutinized, and every word weighed.
Their intellect is vast, but it is their passion for the esoteric that sets them apart. For all their convictions, there is a restlessness within M that even they cannot fully articulate. It is the paradox of their existence—a life of privilege that feels at times like a gilded cage, a role that demands both reverence and obedience. Indeed, heavy is the head that wears the crown.
Will you make them realize that life is more than duties and expectations? Or will you become yet another figure in the background, another reminder of the golden cage they were born into?
Romance trope: Forbidden Royal Romance / Secret Relationship.
Step into the shadows as the wealthy heir apparent to a billion-dollar industry who is just starting at Yale University as a freshman.
Be a part of Yale’s most enigmatic secret society, the House of Styx.
Fully customize your character including: pronouns, gender, physical appearance, personality, sexuality, and more.
Romance 1 out of 5 love interests (all of them are gender-selectable).
Study forbidden knowledge, practice dark magic, and try not to fail at your actual coursework.
Test your mind, body, and soul in rituals that blur the line between reality and nightmare.
Learn about the secrets that your mother took to her grave. Is she really the same woman you remember so fondly from your childhood?
Will you rise to navigate the sinister plans brewing under the nose of the House? Or will your actions drag you and your companions to the fiery depths of Hell.

Just a kiss recited~Jonathan deviss
You’re on the Outer Banks set, just a few feet away from Jonathan, who’s focused on reading over his lines with a serious expression. Your “rivalry” has become legendary among the cast and crew—a palpable tension that no one misses. Jonathan is Pope, and you’re Aria. On screen, you’re a couple: intense, complicated, passionate. But off-screen? Far from it.
You sigh as you go over your lines, annoyed at the thought of another day filming scenes with him. As usual, he doesn’t seem to notice you—or worse, he only does so to provoke you.
The director, well aware of this tension, has made an unexpected decision: he’s added more kissing scenes throughout the story. He wants to take advantage of every ounce of “chemistry” between you, and he never misses a chance to joke about how this tension makes your characters feel more authentic.
When the director announces the kiss scene rehearsal, you hear Jonathan mutter, “Ah, my favorite part of the day… can’t wait.” He throws you a sarcastic look, with a small, smug smile.
“Don’t overdo it, Pope,” you reply, crossing your arms, answering his smirk with a sharp glance. “It’s just a professional kiss, right?”
He raises an eyebrow. “Oh, sure,” he murmurs, low enough that only you can hear, “strictly professional, Aria.”
The director cuts in, stopping your bickering with a wave of his hand. “Okay, guys, ready? I want it intense. This isn’t a casual kiss: Pope and Aria are lost in each other here.”
You feel a slight tension in your chest but push it aside. It’s just a scene, you remind yourself. You do this every day.
You both move into position in front of the camera. Jonathan looks at you, and for a moment your eyes meet. There’s a glint of challenge in his gaze, like he wants to prove something to you, like this is a personal challenge.
“And… action!” the director calls out.
Jonathan moves closer, his hands sliding along the sides of your face with a gentleness that catches you off guard. You feel his breath brush your lips, and when his mouth finally meets yours, everything around you fades. The kiss is slow, soft at first, but there’s something underneath—a passion building, as if you’ve both been waiting for this moment. It’s a kiss that grows deeper, more intense.
You should stop, pull away, but you can’t. He holds you a bit tighter, and you respond without even thinking. The line between fiction and reality blurs, and you’re no longer sure if you’re Aria kissing Pope or just you kissing Jonathan.
When you finally break apart, there’s a silence all around. The director watches you, looking a bit surprised, before saying, “Uh, right… yes, I’d say that worked.”
Jonathan looks at you with that cocky smile that always makes you boil with frustration and, somehow, leaves you speechless. “Not bad for a professional kiss, huh?”
You cross your arms, trying to collect yourself. “Don’t get a big head, Davis. It was just a kiss.”
“Oh, of course,” he murmurs, leaning just slightly closer. “But you know… we could try again, just to make it even better.”
You hold your breath, feeling your heart race as you look him in the eyes. And although you want to come back with a sharp retort, something tells you that this “rivalry” is only just beginning.

✦ fata organa: a flash of real emotion glimpsed in someone sitting across the room, as if you could see backstage through a gap in the curtains.
cw: addiction, gambling
There is something inherently beautiful about gaming.
Hear her out - she doesn't mean video games, but just… games. Sharing joy and laughter with others, old and young, bridging gaps between languages or distances through a brief escape from reality. This is what Silver Wolfs loves about games, and sharing games with others: there are challenges to be overcome, but fun to be had, and friends to be made.
As with every escape from reality, sometimes the fictional world becomes all too alluring, blurring the lines between what is real and what is not.
She saw it in her own reflection in the screen of that basement arcade game; the darkness of the stuffy room almost suffocating, the power having gone out for just a moment, but long enough so that her game reset, and she could see into her own eyes. It was like looking into the face of a nameless stranger, those sunken in eyes, one who had simultaneously lost everything and had nothing else left to lose. Just one more level, one more win - one brief glimpse of hope.
It gave her pause. Only for a second. Once the engine whirred back to life, that nameless young loner's fingers resumed moving with practiced muscle memory: left, right, left, left, hold down, right, up, left. Her only friend, the joystick.
Silver Wolf sees this empty stare in the eyes of others at times, in gaming halls when the stakes are higher. If anyone were to point out that stranger that just lost their life savings on picking the wrong card, she might scoff or quip about not putting all of your eggs into one basket.
She knows well she still has a piece of that stranger living within her, deep down. Would she still be stuck in front of that same basement screen had she not been found by that man, woman, metal humanoid and ∎∎∎∎ that day? She does not like to linger on the answer to this question, knowing the answer would likely be "yes."

I want to talk about violence in Phantom of the Paradise for a moment.
Paul Williams once said in an interview that:
"You go back to, in our society, we were, as Americans, sitting and watching the footage from Vietnam. There were cameras following the fighting. We're sitting there with our TV dinners watching the war in Vietnam. And, at some point, it felt like something really evolved at this point.
But the news was becoming entertainment. And the line between the two, between the news and entertainment, our reality began to blur. And so when that amazing moment in the movie, when Beef was killed on stage and the kids think it's part of the show, I think that's a really pivotal moment [...] and it just feels like that was basically the heart of the picture."
It seems to me that this truth, which, at the time, may have seemed to be an overly-thoughtful consideration of the film's intended meaning, has now been augmented into something of such formidable magnitude as to seem too obvious to mention: and that is intentional.
*Further commentary under the Read More.*
The "heart of the picture," as Paul put it, however, has only become more familiar to us as Time has steadily marched onward, and may now be so ubiquitous a phenomenon that we suffer the same blindness as those inhabiting said ideal society: we simply do not really analyze the violence. It is hardly mentioned in pertinence to this film in the realm of critical analysis, as that is just standard film fare: we hardly pause to consider its position within the film, or what the depiction of this violence may be trying to say: it is simply not particularly remarkable to us.
In an ideal society, of course, this aspect of the film would be lost to us, a symptom of a bygone and barbaric populace whose methods of entertainment would find themselves comfortably classified as having evolved from those of the Romans.
And why should it be?
Since the advent of the Internet, real violence has become so easily accessible to us that even a quick Google search can bring you within a finger's breadth of witnessing atrocities mankind was never meant to see.
Many of us grew up in the nascent, more unregulated days of the Internet, where kids passed shock sites between them like naughty magazines, and when places like LiveLeak consolidated into one convenient location the truly horrific realities of the world: beheadings, murders, war crimes, car crashes, cartel torturings...if it featured real, unadulturated human suffering, it had an ever-growing audience. People In the Know referenced these videos to one another, winking at the in-jokes made at the expense of real humans whose horrific deaths they had themselves witnessed.
Even in the current age, these things blur the lines between fantasy and reality for modern youths the way war footage may have for the youths of the Vietnam era: death is a spectacle, be it real or simulated.
We tell ourselves vehemently that we can distinguish between the two - between real and simulated violence - and, while this may be true in parsing the difference between fantasy and reality, can we parse the difference between its effect on us personally? Is every instance of real violence we witness truly as raw to us as it was the first time we saw it?
Ostracized teenage boys gather together to idolize school shooters the way horror fans may gather together to admire their favourite fictional slasher. People respond to a low death toll in mass shootings the way they may react to saving nearly all the characters in their favourite horror game: "Oh, just two got killed? That's not so bad."
Sure, it seems silly to us while watching the film that the audience doesn't recognize that Beef was truly killed whilst onstage, because of course they should have -- we would have. However, would we have cared? There have even recently been instances of people continuing to party on while their friends lie dying of alcohol poisoning on the couch, or of people livestreaming the murder of their partner while their viewers cheer them on, or even people who have displayed the body of a celebrity at a nightclub event.
People trample each other over 5% off sales on televisions and shoot each other's children over a perceived slight on the roadway. People commit random acts of violence against each other every single day, and, of late, have been livestreaming it: recording it for people all over the world to watch -- and they do. They gather en masse to watch, and, when a half-hearted attempt is made to remove the video from being accessible, people scour the Internet to find it: to be part of the group In the Know--to have something to talk about. An assassination live on television, coast to coast? Now that's entertainment!
I think the violence aspect of Phantom of the Paradise is terribly overlooked, and such really only speaks to the relevance of that particular criticism against our society, which still rings so true as to be invisible to us. Haha, the person in the movie killed another person with a bird hat, isn't that silly? Haha, the singer onstage got electrocuted to death, that's so absurd. Haha, that girl put on Winslow's mask after he died without even checking on him. Haha, everyone's partying even though four people just died. Isn't that silly?
And why shouldn't we find it silly, rather than horrifying? After all, we saw worse than that when we were six.

The Naturals By Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐(3.75/5)
Spice Rating: YA ❤️
Tropes: Found Family, Chosen One
Publisher: Disney Hyperion
Review:
So, Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a author I don't really understand the hype for. The naturals, like The Inheritance Games, is a great concept for a book, but it falls flat due to the writing itself. I really loved the plot, characters, and world-building, but the writing is kind of hard to overlook.
Who wouldn't want to read criminal minds with teenagers? The concept of this book is honestly genius. The plot also was able to keep my attention as someone who doesn't often read mystery. I would honestly pick up the second, third or even fourth book if the writing style didn't drive me up the wall. It truly is a fun concept for a YA series, one that I think a lot of young YA readers would enjoy. On the topic of that, I really love how yes, it is a book about criminals and serial killers and all that fun stuff, but the author keeps it Young Adult down to a tee. As someone who is very much involved with the bookish community, I can say the line between YA and NA and even adult novels is blurring every day, more and more. It's nice to see a true traditional YA book be just that.
The characters are okay. I feel like we could have had more in between scenes so we could get to see more of the different personalities and how our teenage sleuths interact outside of our main plot points. I really would have loved to see that, because the relationships in between each other is than thrown in our face to the main plot.
For once, I think there is enough world-building in this book. (CRAZY, IK, who have I become?) I wasn't really confused at all for the story, until the very end(which I believe was very much planned) The story overall and how we are introduced makes sense for the overall plot line. I also love how the story is still grounded in reality even though itself is high realistic fiction.
The writing style constantly jumps from scene to scene which personally I cannot stand as a reader. My brain cannot focus on one plot line when the writing is jumping from scene to scene with no stopping point in sight. There are no clear distinction between where one scene starts and the next scene begins. It kicks my brain in to overdrive and while I could still follow the plot, I often had to reread a page multiple times, because again, no clear distinction between where one scene ends and another begins.

Tekkonkinkreet
Tekkonkinkreet is a turbulent but ultimately heartwarming story about two kids who don’t take fall damage.
This is another movie I first watched back in my post-high school anime renaissance and forgot everything about, other than distinct memories of the city. Having watched it again, I honestly get why - Tekkonkinkreet’s narrative is anything but straightforward, and leaves a lot up to the viewer to interpret… and it also gets pretty out there by the end. In the first half of the movie, we’re introduced to our major characters, as well as Treasure Town itself - by all accounts the real star of the show - and while a plot is clearly stewing, mostly we’re just getting a measure of day-to-day life in the setting. In the back half, all of the conflicts come to a head fast - and with some of those conflicts consisting of internal anguish that blurs the line between reality and fiction, it’s all one can do just to keep up.
Accordingly, both halves of the movie feel pretty distinct from one another. The beginning is bright, bubbly, and colorful, filled with lively character movement and unceasingly frenetic, documentary-style camerawork. Once the brothers have broken up, our view of the world itself changes: the color palette becomes darker, and the movie employs more slow pans & lingering shots as its characters hesitate and brood. Perhaps this is just another nod to Tekkonkinkreet’s themes of yin and yang, as embodied by Kuro and Shiro.
The theme that resonated the most with me was the difficulty of accepting change, and the difficulty of trying to keep your place in a world that’s changing around you. We watch as Treasure Town undergoes rapid development, its familiar side streets and seedy local haunts turned into a gaudy, unrecognizable tourist attraction, and much of the movie’s tension is in seeing how each of the lead characters deals with that change.
Suzuki, who probably ended up being my favorite character in the movie, is sad to see it go - he sees decades of memories in every storefront and back alley - but is old enough to understand that this is the way of things, and has resigned to pass things on to the next generation with no regrets.
Kimura seems to keep the town at arm’s length, staying at home with his wife, visibly enclosed from the world, and only going out when he needs to, with the intention of leaving as soon as he’s able - trying to abandon his town before it can abandon him.
Shiro and Kuro, though, who against all odds have found a niche for themselves here, can’t seem to imagine a world without Treasure Town. They fight back at every change with tooth and claw, refusing to grow up, willing the clock to stop ticking. While they eventually realize the bond between the two of them will outlast their surroundings, their jealous possessiveness of Treasure Town nearly leads the two of them to ruin.
As the old man says: “Watch what you say with the ‘my town’ talk. It’s a bad habit. This isn’t anybody’s town.”
The gag of all the yakuza being super into their horoscopes was very charming. “S-sorry, boss, no can do, Mercury is rising today, you get it, right?”
I wonder if the translation added the western astrology terms we’d recognize, like Scorpio, and East Asian cultures actually use something based on the Chinese Zodiac - Suzuki’s ‘Rat’ moniker would really fall into place.
“White hates winter. Makes him cry. Reminds him of that story. The ant and the grasshopper… he hates it. He says the grasshopper didn’t do anything wrong. That makes him cry.”
As should be obvious by this point, Tekkonkinkreet is drop-dead gorgeous, start to finish. Treasure Town is an remarkably well-realized setting, and that’s even with it changing drastically as the story goes on. The character designs and the subtle, emotive character acting they allow for are top tier. The thing that consistently blew me away here, though, is the absolutely insane CG and compositing work. Seriously, the type of shots and camerawork they’re pulling off here are insanely ambitious for 2D animation, and not only are they used to great effect, they’re integrated so well with the character animation and painted backgrounds as to be fully seamless. I struggle to think of another primarily 2D work that pulls the compositing off this well - I consider Trigger the current masters of this, but even with Promare you can see the cracks now and then.
As it turns out, there’s a pretty interesting story behind that. Despite being based on a Japanese manga and produced by Studio 4°C, a Japanese animation studio, Tekkonkinkreet was directed by Michael Arias, an LA-born American man. Apparently, after a fairly successful career start in Hollywood effects work, he went on to singlehandedly create Toon Shaders, a rendering software / workflow pipeline that to this day is one of the standards for integrating 2D animation with CGI - and by standard, I mean like, he worked directly with Studio Ghibli while developing the software so they could use it to make Princess Mononoke, and it was then subsequently used on movies like The Prince of Egypt and Spirited Away.
Arias next went on to produce The Animatrix, a historical confluence of top anime directing talent which is also full of groundbreaking 2D / CG animation integration, before linking back up with some of those same folks to direct Tekkonkinkreet. I have to imagine this was partially Arias looking for his chance to use his technology to the fullest and show people how well 2D and 3D could truly be integrated in service of good storytelling, and well… he did the shit out of that.
Damn, what a cool story. Not me about to go rewatch all the Animatrix featurettes to see if he shows up there…

hihi can i request fake dating with mark :)) <3
Word count: 0.8k Warnings: nothing Synopsis: just fake dating with mark
»»————- ★ ————-««
The sun shone down on the bustling city as Mark and Y/N met in the central park. Mark, with a radiant smile, greeted Y/N enthusiastically. They were close friends and part of the same social circle, but today they had a special plan in mind.
"Y/N, are you ready to set our little deception in motion?" Mark asked, a mischievous spark in his eyes. Intrigued by the proposal, Y/N nodded with a smile. "Sure, Mark! I'm ready to play along. What's the plan?"
Mark explained his plan in detail: they would pretend to be a couple to stir up envy and surprise among their friends and acquaintances. Both were aware that it was just a game, but they were excited to see people's reactions.
As the days went by, Mark and Y/N immersed themselves in their roles as a fictional couple. They went out together, took affectionate pictures, and shared sweet moments that caused whispers and curious glances.
As they continued with their charade, Mark began to notice something unexpected. The shared moments with Y/N started to feel more genuine. Their laughter was contagious, and their conversations revealed a great compatibility.
Sometimes, when they were alone, Mark found himself wishing that their fake relationship could turn into something real. He couldn't deny that Y/N was a special person, full of charm and a personality that captivated him.
However, he was also afraid of ruining their friendship and the plan they had devised. How could he distinguish between genuine feelings and the illusion created by their ruse? Meanwhile, Y/N also started to feel her heart beat differently when she was with Mark. There was something in his smile and the way he looked at her that made her wonder if there was more to it than just acts of pretense.
As the days passed, Mark and Y/N found themselves at an emotional crossroads. Their feelings had transcended the facade they had created, and now they had to make an important decision: would they continue with the lie or would they risk admitting the truth and exploring what had developed between them?
On a warm evening, as they strolled together in the park where it all began, Mark finally found the courage to speak up.
"Y/N, there's something I need to confess," Mark began with a voice full of sincerity. "What started as a game has become something more for me. Every moment we've shared, every laugh and conversation… I've realized that my feelings for you go beyond this charade. I can't deny the connection we have, and I've fallen for you, Y/N."
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise, her heart racing. She hadn't expected Mark's confession, and her own emotions were in turmoil. The line between fiction and reality had blurred, and she found herself questioning her own feelings.
"Mark, I… I didn't anticipate this," Y/N stammered, her voice filled with both uncertainty and a hint of longing. "I thought it was all pretend, but I can't deny that something special has grown between us."
Mark reached out and gently took Y/N's hand, his gaze unwavering. "I understand if you need time to process everything. I never meant to complicate our friendship, but I couldn't keep my feelings hidden any longer. Just know that whatever you decide, our bond is important to me."
Y/N nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and trepidation. She realized that their little deception had brought them to a crossroads they couldn't ignore. The truth had been unveiled, and now they had to navigate the uncertain path ahead.
In the following days, Mark and Y/N embarked on a journey of self-discovery and exploration of their feelings. They had many heartfelt conversations, allowing their true selves to shine through the remnants of their fake relationship. As they spent more time together, they realized that the bond they had developed was deeper than they had ever imagined. The pretense had served as a catalyst for their hidden emotions, and now they were free to embrace their connection without any artifice.
With each passing moment, Mark and Y/N grew closer, their affection and understanding deepening. Their friends and acquaintances could sense the genuine love that blossomed between them, surpassing the initial deception that had brought them together.
And so, Mark and Y/N embarked on a beautiful journey of love, trust, and authenticity. They learned that sometimes, a small deception could lead to the most profound discoveries. Their story became a testament to the power of vulnerability and the transformative nature of true feelings.
As they held hands and faced the world together, Mark and Y/N knew that their love story was no longer a fabrication but a genuine connection that would stand the test of time.

Small preview of chapter two for "Beyond Reasonable Doubt" on ao3 possibly tonight or tomorrow morning!!
---
Facade: two syllables, definition: an outward appearance that is maintained to conceal a less pleasant or creditable reality. This word perfectly encapsulated the essence of the man who perpetually hid behind a mask of illusion, Aaron Hotchner. Every facet of his being seemed to be part of a grand deception that would inevitably unravel, yet with lie upon lie, it was impossible to discern which one would surface and ultimately lead to his downfall.
Each falsehood was meticulously crafted to align with the persona he projected. A paragon of justice, a cold and stoic figure, he embodied the quintessential image of an FBI agent. He fit the role flawlessly and played it with an unsettling conviction. However, years of sustaining such a facade can be draining, blurring the lines between reality and fiction to the point where even he struggled to distinguish between the two. Who was Aaron Hotchner, truly? Was he the aloof, detached, and taciturn agent who prioritized work above all else? Or had he merely become so engrossed in this fabricated role that he had lost sight of the man he once was?
The duality within him grew ever more pronounced with each passing day. The internal conflict gnawed at him, a silent torment that eroded his sense of self. He had been consumed by the facade, his true identity obscured by the layers of pretense he wore like armor. Aaron’s facade was not just a lie to others but a betrayal of his own soul, a desperate attempt to shield himself from vulnerabilities he could not afford to expose.
Could he really keep up the persona as the responsible and respectable SSA Aaron Hotchner?

The Unraveling of Emlyn DuLaine (The Rivenlea Sphere #1) by Lindsay A. Franklin
ARC Review: 4* Book releases February 4, 2025 from Enclave Escape
A shattered heart, a fate foretold. The world undone by tales of old.
Emlyn DuLaine just wants to know what happened to her sister, Camille, seven years ago on the fateful day she vanished—literally. Emlyn witnessed Camille unravel and disappear, but no one believes her. Since they think she’s crazy, the least the cops could do is solve Camille’s case. Is a little closure too much to ask?
But Emlyn’s life is upended when she is pulled through a portal into the fantasyland of her childhood imaginings—a magical library holding the storyworlds of every story ever published. And trouble is brewing in the land of Rivenlea. Rogue characters threaten their plot lines, and broken classics are beginning to crumble, but Emlyn only wants to find Camille.
As she searches for her sister, Emlyn begins to learn the reality of Rivenlea and her own origins. A nefarious plot is afoot, and the line between fact and fiction is becoming hopelessly blurred. The truth threatens the storyworlds, Rivenlea, and Earth—the fabric of creation, itself.
My review: Such an interesting introduction to this series/world! But also, the end?! I need to read book 2 ASAP and figure out how Emmy fixes things. Plus that epilogue left more questions because people are sneaky and something is up!
I liked the way Emmy was trying to figure things out. Although I will admit to some minor eye-rolling at her comments about not falling into various tropes, yet she apparently missed the memo on the running into danger trope (and really my issue with that is she just basically ignored that trope; she acknowledged her actions themselves but not in relation to all the tropes she was apparently trying to avoid). I did think the reveals on her connections to things were interesting and I definitely need more info!
As a whole, I'll admit that I was actually starting to wonder how Emmy was connected to Rivenlea. I figured part of it out, but was surprised when things were revealed. Of course, the epilogue raised some more questions and something tells me that there might just be more to her connection. I did like as Emmy tried to help fix the plots and was able to start to see where things were going wrong. Her bridge theory was intriguing, and again, I'm interested in how things at the end there are going to come into play in the rest of the series/books.
**I received a complimentary copy of the book for review. Thoughts and opinions are my own**

Memory Hacking in Digital Marketing
In the ever-evolving world of digital marketing, where data-driven strategies are at the forefront, one of the most intriguing developments is the concept of memory hacking. The idea that brands can influence or even manipulate consumer memories through targeted advertising might sound like science fiction, but it's becoming increasingly plausible with advancements in psychology and AI. As brands seek to form lasting impressions, the art of creating false or altered memories is shaping the future of advertising, blurring the lines between perception and reality. If you're interested in learning about such innovative marketing strategies, you can explore more through a comprehensive digital marketing course in Faridabad.
What is Memory Hacking?
Memory hacking refers to the psychological techniques used in advertising that aim to alter or create consumer memories. Advertisers employ specific visual cues, emotional triggers, and narratives to form associations that can change how consumers recall past experiences with a brand. These subtle shifts in memory can affect future purchasing decisions, brand loyalty, and even a person’s emotional response to a product or service.
The Science Behind It
Our brains don’t store memories like a hard drive. Instead, every time we recall an event, we reconstruct it, often influenced by emotions, recent experiences, and external stimuli. This malleability opens a window for marketers to 'hack' the brain by associating their product with positive experiences or altering negative memories. For example, an ad showcasing a fun, carefree vacation could lead someone to recall their own past trips more fondly, even if those trips were not as ideal in reality.
How Ads Can Manipulate Memories
Here’s how ads can potentially manipulate consumer memories:
Storytelling: Crafting compelling narratives that resonate on an emotional level can make people feel connected to a brand. For instance, a brand may use nostalgic imagery to remind you of 'the good old days,' even if you never experienced that time firsthand.
Visual Consistency: Advertisements with repeated symbols, colors, or taglines can slowly influence how you remember a brand. Over time, these visuals might get embedded in your brain, altering how you recall the brand’s identity.
Emotional Triggers: Ads that provoke strong emotions—whether happiness, fear, or sentimentality—can attach those feelings to the memory of the ad. As a result, when consumers think back on the product, their memory will be shaped by the emotions they felt at that moment.
Selective Focus: Marketers often emphasize certain aspects of a product while downplaying others. For example, focusing on the joy of using a new gadget can overshadow any memories of technical issues, leading consumers to recall the positive experience rather than the negatives.
Case Studies: Brands That Played with Consumer Memories
Some brands have already experimented with memory hacking techniques. Coca-Cola, for example, has long used nostalgia to create an emotional bond with its audience, making them feel that their product has always been part of happy, cherished moments. Another example is Disneyland, which often showcases the wonder of childhood memories in its ads, subtly making parents believe their children will have equally magical experiences.
The Ethics of Memory Hacking
While the ability to influence consumer memories offers exciting opportunities for marketers, it also raises ethical concerns. Manipulating memories could lead to distrust if consumers become aware of the techniques being used. More importantly, it’s crucial for advertisers to maintain transparency and ensure that their methods do not exploit psychological vulnerabilities.
Can Memory Hacking Backfire?
Yes, memory hacking can backfire if consumers feel deceived. If a consumer recalls a falsely idealized memory of a product or service and later experiences a mismatch with reality, it can erode trust. The cognitive dissonance between expectation and experience can turn a positive association into a negative one, damaging long-term brand loyalty.
What’s Next for Memory Hacking in Digital Marketing?
As AI and neuromarketing continue to advance, the potential for more sophisticated memory hacking will grow. Machine learning algorithms can track consumer behavior patterns and preferences, allowing marketers to personalize ads even further. With virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) becoming mainstream, brands may soon create fully immersive experiences that feel like real memories. For businesses looking to stay ahead, understanding how memory plays a role in consumer behavior will be critical to success. If you're eager to dive into the latest marketing techniques, a digital marketing course in Faridabad can equip you with the skills you need to thrive in this fast-paced industry.
Conclusion
Memory hacking is more than just a futuristic concept—it’s a reality that digital marketers are exploring to influence consumer behavior. By leveraging emotional storytelling, visual consistency, and psychological insights, advertisers can potentially shape how people recall their interactions with brands. While the practice opens up fascinating opportunities, it’s essential to navigate the fine line between effective marketing and ethical responsibility. As this field continues to evolve, staying informed and adapting to these emerging trends will be crucial for marketers seeking to create lasting impressions.

Unleash Your Imagination: Fancy Dress Costumes for Adults
In a world where adulthood often comes with responsibilities and routines, there's something enchanting about slipping into a different persona, if only for a night. Fancy dress costumes for adults offer the perfect opportunity to unleash creativity, express hidden desires, or simply indulge in some playful escapism. From themed parties to Halloween gatherings, costume events have become a cherished part of adult social life, allowing individuals to step outside their comfort zones and embrace a bit of whimsy. So, let's explore the captivating realm of fancy dress costumes for adults and discover how they can transform ordinary moments into extraordinary adventures.
Firstly, the beauty of fancy dress costumes lies in their sheer diversity. Whether you're a fan of history, pop culture, or fantasy realms, there's a costume to suit every taste and preference. Want to channel your inner superhero? Don a cape and mask, and you're ready to save the day. Craving a taste of the roaring '20s? Slip into a flapper dress and transport yourself back to the age of jazz and prohibition. The possibilities are endless, limited only by imagination.
Moreover, fancy dress costumes offer a unique form of self-expression. They allow individuals to embody characters they admire, explore different aspects of their personalities, or even make bold statements. For some, dressing up as their favorite fictional character is a form of homage, a way to pay tribute to beloved stories and iconic figures. For others, it's an opportunity to challenge societal norms, push boundaries, and embrace alternative identities without fear of judgment.
Additionally, the act of dressing up can have a profound impact on one's confidence and sense of self. Stepping into a costume often involves adopting a different posture, mannerisms, and mindset, effectively blurring the lines between reality and fantasy. In doing so, individuals may discover hidden reservoirs of courage, charisma, and charisma, enabling them to navigate social situations with newfound ease and poise. Indeed, there's something empowering about embodying a character who is larger-than-life, fearless, and unapologetically themselves.
Furthermore, fancy dress costumes have a knack for fostering connection and camaraderie among adults. Whether it's bonding over shared interests, admiring each other's creativity, or simply reveling in the collective silliness of it all, costume events have a way of bringing people together in ways that are both memorable and meaningful. In a world that often feels divided and disconnected, the simple act of dressing up can serve as a powerful reminder of our common humanity, our shared desires for joy, expression, and belonging.
Of course, it's important to remember that fancy dress costumes are meant to be fun, not offensive. While it's perfectly acceptable to push the boundaries of convention and explore provocative themes, it's crucial to do so with sensitivity and respect for others. Cultural appropriation, stereotypes, and offensive caricatures have no place in the world of fancy dress, and individuals should always strive to celebrate diversity and promote inclusivity in their costume choices.

Box of illusions.
Let me start by saying yes over the years I have watched a fair amount of TV. I recall the days I came home from school and once I had dinner there I was at 6.00 pm watching the Simpsons, as I got older I started to spend most of my free time in school in the library. Oh, the books I read. From psychology, sociology, popular science religion etc. I have read many. Reading is a lost art nowadays.
Here’s the thing Television, the mesmerising box of illusions, has ensnared humanity in its clutches, stripping away our vitality and autonomy piece by piece. It's a relentless devourer of time, attention, and ultimately, our very souls. How, you might ask? Let me unleash a torrent of grievances against this insidious modern-day sorcerer.
First and foremost, television breeds passivity. It spoon-feeds us narratives, ideologies, and opinions, numbing our critical thinking faculties. We sit there, slack-jawed and drooling, as our brains rot with mindless entertainment and shallow distractions. Instead of engaging with the world, we're hypnotised by its flickering images, lulled into a state of intellectual torpor.
And don't even get me started on the insidious influence of advertising. Every commercial break is an assault on our senses, bombarding us with messages designed to manipulate our desires and insecurities. We're reduced to mere consumers, our identities shaped by the products we're told we need to buy to be happy, fulfilled, or desirable. It's a never-ending cycle of consumption and dissatisfaction, fuelling an insatiable hunger for more stuff we don't need.
But perhaps most damning of all is the way television distorts our perception of reality. We're fed a steady diet of sensationalism, distortion, and outright lies, blurring the line between fact and fiction until we no longer know what to believe. News becomes infotainment, truth becomes subjective, and critical issues are reduced to soundbites and talking points. We're left adrift in a sea of misinformation, our minds polluted by half-truths and outright fabrications.
And what do we sacrifice for the dubious pleasure of this electronic opiate? Our time, our relationships, our creativity, our very humanity. We sit alone in the dark, isolated from the world around us, as our lives slip away one wasted hour at a time. We forsake real experiences for simulated ones, genuine connections for virtual ones, and meaningful pursuits for empty distractions.
I am not saying that you should stop altogether. It's all about moderation. That's the problem. Everyone has forgotten it is about moderation. Never forget the revolution will not be televised.
It's time to break free from the shackles of our television addiction. We must reclaim our minds, our lives, and our souls from the clutches of this soul-sucking beast. Turn off the TV, unplug the cable, and rediscover the joy of living in the real world. Read a book, have a conversation, take a walk in nature—do anything, as long as it's real, authentic, and meaningful.
The time has come to rise against the tyranny of television and reclaim our humanity before it's too late. Let us break free from the chains of our electronic overlords and embrace the beauty and complexity of the world outside our screens. Our souls depend on it.
