And when you come to him, letting him pull you onto his chest- Jason exhales slowly. "Much better."

You make a soft noise he doesn't know the meaning of but- he can feel you relax a little, shifting you around to make sure your neck wasn't at a weird angle and his inevitable wood wasn't grinding into your hip.

"I missed you too," you murmur.

"I- Opf- hey Elmer, welcome to the party." Jason coughed and grunted again when another paw hit his groin. But when he curled up, joining the cuddle pile, purring like an engine; Jason was oddly comforted.

In honor of me officially becoming old and gen beta being born in about a month, you get to get my brainrot Batman headcannons.

Tim- I have the least hope for Tim. He’s worse than me. I like to think he’d be at a WE meeting and would accidentally say something like “L- get radioed” without even noticing.

Steph- doesn’t hold back. She says “chat” so often that Jason has started to think she’s talking to her imaginary friend “Chat.” She’s almost as bad as Tim but is able to hold back in professional settings.

Duke- is aware of it- uses it very sparingly unless Tim and/or Steph are making fun of someone, at that point he joins and will shred someone *cough* Jason *cough* to shreds.

Damian- finds it annoying and dumb most of the time HOWEVER I can totally see him using gen-z slang, especially in school. I can also see him taking a shit on the riddler by calling him the anti rizzler.

Cass- only uses it on criminals she’s already detained. Especially if she did without making a noise. She finds it hilarious when a criminal gets taken down in less then five seconds by a black blur with faint Chappell Roan music in the background only for the the black form to whisper “queen never cry” before disappearing again.

Jason- has no clue what it is or why his siblings are yelling “you’ve gyatt to go” and “- 10 aura” across roof tops whenever they see him on patrol.

I love how, in fanfiction, everyone either jumps to the right conclusion immediately—or to absolutely the wrong one. No middle ground.

Like, if Jason were alive and hanging out with the Batfam outside of the cape (well, Hood), no one except Bernard would jump to the "dead boy Jason Todd" conclusion. No one.

People would be arguing about whether he’s a bodyguard, a love interest, or both.

Like, you see this absolute mountain of a man standing next to Richard Hostage #1 Grayson, who just came back to Gotham for one gala, and you shrug—makes sense, the guy’s exhausted from being kidnapped.

And then there’s a paparazzi shot from Blüdhaven, taken at a nice little burger joint. There’s no music playing near you, but somehow, you can almost hear Whitney Houston singing in the background. Thousands of TikTok edits agree.

"There’s no info on the man," the article writer shares with you conspiratorially. "But he always carries a gun."

“Huh. A mystery”

“Maybe he’s ex-military. Or secret service.”

“Maybe he used to be a bad guy and is turning over a new leaf.”

“Maybe he’s still a baddie.”

And so, a new round of rumors begins.

A couple of weeks later, the buzz dies down a bit—only to flare up again when the entire Wayne family is spotted together. Only family. Even Duke Thomas, Bruce Wayne’s ward, and Stephanie Brown, a close friend of Tim and Cassandra, aren’t with them. But that man? That man is.

And not standing a respectable distance away, like a proper bodyguard or even like Wayne’s butler—no. He’s smack-dab in the middle of the group, chatting with them.

Damian Wayne is slung over his shoulder in a clear youngest Wayne is protesting carry.

Way too familiar. Way too close to them.

"Is he a family bodyguard?"

“Idk, man, he’s way too close with them. And who’s he supposed to protect from the middle of the group? More like they’re protecting him, imo.”

"What if he and Richard are serious? That would make him family, right?"

"Oh god, what if they’re engaged?!"

"Wayne’s way too rich not to curate his rumors. Is he trying to make Richard’s coming out as mild as possible?"

And when asked about this mysterious bodyguard-slash-Richard’s-possible-fiancé, other Waynes and family friends just reply:

"What do you mean, ‘Who’s Jason?’ He’s family!"

Well. At least he has a name now.

Basically, I think Jason hanging out with his family in civvies would definitely catch the attention of Gotham’s gossipers.

An excerpt from a fic I’m writing:

“DON’T-”

The Red Hood turned toward her so fast, he hissed as he felt a sharp pain in his side. Oh right. He’d been shot. Twice.

“Touch that.” Jazz finished quietly. She strode over to his bedside and sat down, revealing a first aid bag. She waited until he nodded his consent to check his bandages and started to change them.

Shit that hurt. Her touch was light but a bullet wound was still a bullet wound. In an attempt to keep his mind off of what she was doing, he asked about the object.

“What is it?” She looked up. He nodded his head toward the… whatever it was. He could have sworn it had a faint green glow around it now.

“Oh that.” She resumed her work while she spoke. “It’s highly contaminated. One touch and your food will come alive and attack you for days until it wears off.”

Ooookay. Not what he expected to hear. And she was so nonchalant about it.

“Really?!” He asked incredulously.

“No!” She finished wrapping his side with new bandages and moved on to his arm.

“I just don’t want you to touch it.” She said with a mischevious smile, then resumed her work.

He chuckled at that, then winced at the pain.

“Careful. Don’t tear the stitches I put in. I won’t do it again.”

Cass: We’ll Be Fine the Wisdom Saga. She likes the idea that even the most powerful can learn from mistakes and be better in the end.

Jason: he says it’s Ruthlessness but it’s actually I Can’t Help But Wonder. This is obvious he wants his dad and who he was so long ago to be okay together but is going to stick to his ways as he’s stubborn

Tim: Puppeteer from the Circe saga. Janet Drake taught him the art of pulling all the strings in the game and he loves seeing a powerful woman in a song doing the same.

Steph: Thunder Bringer from the Thunder Saga. No thoughts thinks the song is just a vibe even with the dark ending

valgrace but one of them fell extremely sick, like deathly pale, fevers running high type of sick and the other doesn’t want to leave their side even though they could also get sick.

if it’s jason — leo is at his side once he’s awake from his nap, offering water and even warmth if jason is cold. jason’s too tired to speak but it’s fine because leo could speak enough for both of them. he gestures wildly as he catches jason up on what he missed, maybe even a little bit of exaggeration that gets shut down if the others visit like nico or will, piper, percy or annabeth.

if it’s leo — jason is the first to arrive at the infirmary alongside will, even opting to help out since he practically lives in the infirmary ever since leo became bedridden. more often than not, he’ll always pass by, asking him how he feels and what he needs, holds his hand and cleans the sweat off his forehead. jason would talk about what leo missed as well but go off topic, mentions the letters he receives from thalia or even reyna, talking about adventures that should be humanely impossible but aren’t.

and without fail, they’d fall into a conversation of creating plans and looking so far into the future that would have the fates reeling and angrily knitting.

and without fail, it’d end with: “in sickness and in health, right?”

“are…are you proposing to me right now?”

“maybe. would you say yes?”

“i’d always say yes.”

I think the Robins as a collective entity would be theeee best audience for the "How Kate Bishop became Hawkeye and stayed Hawkeye" story, because they have all lived some part of that story (it might also be healing for them to see the story of a superhero identity being unwillingly/unwittingly passed along that both parties involved were pretty much chill with)

With the exception of Damian, all of them had the Robin identity taken from them and given to another. They've all had weird and uncomfortable relationships with their replacement/predecessor. Some of them have even attacked their replacement. (Clint and Jason bonding over attacking their replacement, and getting replaced because someone thought they were dead, Tim and Kate being like??? Uh???? Tim: no one GAVE ROBIN to me Kate: I didn't even WANT Hawkeye)

An unfortunate side effect of this is that Clint and Kate start referring to all of the Robins as. Well. Robin. They might specify a little more (Tall Robin, Reading Robin, Insomnia Robin, Purple Robin [obviously their fave], Artsy Robin) but they mostly just yell "Robin!!!" and hope for the best. Steve Rogers meets the Robins at some point and LAUGHS his ASS off, imagine repeatedly giving out the gremlin bird identity, at least he stopped with Kate!! What was the thought process there Mr. Wayne? Hmmm?

Meanwhile Kate and Clint are like oh. ohhhhh um we already made two of them Hawkeyes. Ha ha.
