at this point, as much as i ship weyler for my own reasons, idc if it ever canonically happens. i just need tyler to have a redemption and come to terms with the shit that happened TO him. i need everyone else to understand he went through it too and it wasn’t really his fault no matter how much they want it to be. he was hurt just as badly as anyone else emotionally and physically. i need him to have the opportunity to be a person. his own person. meaning that we know for a while he was following lucas’s gang. out of anger and spite for the world. between that and ep1 was a year. we don’t know how long laurel had a hold on him. which means he hasn’t had a large chance to live by his own rules and grow as an individual) and i need him to have that for my own closure if nothing else. ideally he gets admitted to nevermore but 🤷🏻‍♀️ bare minimum i’m asking is they don’t make him the inhumane villain and brush him off after all is said and done. i mean we know hes essential to S2 plot (thanks casting/production announcement video) but it could easily be just getting him back in the prison van and shipping him off. or a second ‘master’ who was an unknown accomplice to the battle of crackstone, who’s now taking over after laurel’s death (who could be the stalker.) (while i don’t want this to happen i admit it would be super interesting) that would be so easy for them to do. and i like and want the complex stuff. give him depth. even if they keep him evil and go the route of him liking the murder at least let him have some humanity. I need that much.

hi!! before i ask my question i just want to say i ADORE your blog. your analyses are so interesting and genuine and i love reading them.
my question is pertaining to armand in the show. in the show they have him coming from a muslim background. what impact or bearing do you think this will have on the portrayal of les innocents?
sorry if this is worded strangely i wasnt sure how to word this 😅
Hey!
So glad you like! *hugs*
And all good, I think I know what you mean^^
Okay, so, back when the show aired someone (unfortunately I couldn't find the post, but if someone remembers who and has that post...?) remarked that the prayer Armand was shown to do was slightly wrong. I am not Muslim, so that did not click for me, but there was a discussion about it.
Now I believe Assad would know how to do that prayer and I think the show doing it just a bit wrong might be another hint. I think Armand is probably converting. Has converted. Wants to convert. We'll see.
The area Armand is from was heavily contended back then. It will be interesting to see if they give him a muslim original background or a christian one, because depending on how they spin it, it might change the character story (of being captured and sold as a (sex) slave) a bit. I believe they will keep that part of the story, because Armand can be seen to react to Daniel's flippant "save it for the rent boy".
But, either way, he was eventually picked up by Marius, and educated in Venice (I don't think they'll change that). I do think that the rest of it (the attack on Marius and him, the capture by Santino and the Children of Satan etc) will then play out no matter the underlying religion he had.
And eventually... he will be sent to lead the coven under Les Innocents.
Now the show has shifted Lestat's turning into the time of the "Reign of Terror", to 1794. That is important, because then Lestat cannot have encountered Armand and the coven under Les Innocents, because Les Innocents was closed in 1785 and that closing of the cemetery plays a part in the story.
Lestat will have to encounter the coven somewhere else already. And they still will need to relocate, or are prompted to relocate through the events with Lestat.
So I think... the muslim part (if originally his religion or not) might not play that much into the Les Innocents part after all. Because the importance of Les Innocents has been somewhat removed through the time shift already, and I also think that Armand was never the big believer in the cause. Oh he led his coven, true, he followed the rules. Enforced them. But believe? In the sense of the word?
I think Armand held onto it all because there was nothing else to hold onto for a long, long time.
In the books the events of Memnoch are a kind of wake up call for Armand. IF Lestat is really in his coma in modern Dubai, as theorized after some kind of Memnoch-type event, then that wake up call might have happened there as well.
And Armand might have decided to convert / return to his (chosen?) religion.
To return to the portrayal of Les Innocents: I think the coven under Les Innocents will have happened, and will be mentioned. We know there will be someone called "Andrei" in s2, so we might get a flashback to Armand as a child. I think Les Innocents might be a flashback like this. Who knows, maybe they went with the bones into the catacombs after.
(Or, of course, the show ignores the cemetery being relocated, buttttt they've been so good with these RL events so far? I doubt it.)
So these are my thoughts on this. Hope it makes sense! :))

tyler de transformed because enid kicked his ass (true) but also, and maybe moreso, because they killed laurel and the connection was severed. she lost her control over him and in that moment the ‘command’ stopped being in effect and he was finally tyler again. just tyler. which makes him lying in his dads arms even more heartbreaking. like we don’t know how long he was under laurel’s ‘spell’, the effect of which was heightened by his preexisting issues and trauma and anger, which worsened his relationship with his dad. hell he probably almost killed his dad several times (ep 1, stalking him in the woods. if wednesday wasn’t there-) but it also raises the question what made him transform in the van. no seriously i’m asking. why do we think he transformed? my best guess is fight or flight but??? like if the hyde really took over. was the reason for the jail scene™️ then it may have been like a haze. (he literally cries after he confesses, because he cant stop himself but doesn’t want to be in this situation and only has so much control over his body) imagine that effects a chunk of his memory. so he goes unconscious when transforming back and when he wakes up he’s restrained in a prison van- how could he not freak out. ugh i’m making myself cry
i know these posts are getting repetitive and i’m sorry but it’s all i can think about.

Regarding that casting call, either way we are winning. If the date is a mistake and it's actually 1985, then it's yet another confirmation that Devil's Minion is happening. But if it is really 1785 *puts on clown face* then it's definitely a flashback to finally show us Nicolas (and Lestat) in the theatre. Like, narratively speaking it doesn't make any sense for the show to wait at least 3 or more years to cast someone as important as Nicolas, specially when he has aleady been hinted so many times in S1. Let's not forget that Lestat's first spoken words in the show are literally A DIREKT QUOTE FROM NICKI. The question is ofc who would be telling that part of the story. It would make sense for it to be Armand but I can't really see him sharing that information with Louis and he's very capable of keeping his mind shut. It could be Louis reading some member of the old troupe's mind though. Imagine someone who knew human Lestat first hand and then was turned and ended up working with Armand... Since Louis can read minds in this version it wouldn't be too far out of reach, wouldn't it?
If it was up to me (and given the beautiful way the show has been working with the concept of relics so far) I would just give Louis the Gift to see the past by touching objects (like that character from Mayfair Witches) and make him find the red velvet cloak hidden somewhere in the theatre 🥲
Ha, yeah I'd love that too (and have actually written about it in a fic^^). And yes, mistake or not, both years are "winning", agreed!
As you said - it is highly unlikely that Armand would volunteer that tidbit of information though... I cannot really think of who might do though (except if they massively changed a certain fact).
I just answered another ask, and theorized there that it might have to do with Marius and Bianca in Paris... and the fact that Les Innocents was closed in 1780, and that the bones were moved to the catacombs in 1786.
Which means Armand and his coven had to relocate sometime 1785. Which must have been, of course, a rather harrowing event for the Children of Satan, then.
So, while my first thought also jumped to Lestat and Nicki immediately (and I'll be very happy if they go this route, I hope that doesn't need to be said, because YES *laughs*)... my gut feeling does point more towards that now... ugh. We'll see.
But I love it either way, all the little tidbits of events and lore they use to tie this show in reality... they did it so wonderfully in season 1, I bet they'll be brilliant in season 2 as well.
