Maybe this entire paragraph won't make sense, but I just had to express my thoughts or it was gonna kill me:
Annabeth, Clarisse, Will, Conner, Travis, Katie and Pollux and maybe so many others lost so many of their siblings in the war after botl and the titan war. And even if it's not shown cuz the books are through Percy's pov, they must have been hurting so terribly. I mean think about it, Clarisse lost Silena who lost Beckendorf, Pollux lost his TWIN, which, idk if is true cuz I don't have a twin, but is like losing a part of yourself?? Maybe?? Hundreds of campers went to war and only a tiny bit came back. Not to mention the nature spirits that died. And as head counselors, Clarisse, Annabeth, Travis and Conner and, I think maybe, Katie, who may have lost their YOUNGER siblings, felt as though failed their families (cuz there is no way that the campers weren't more closer to each other than their actual families) and the campers like Will, who btw lost TWO FUCKING older brothers (Lee and Michael), Lacy, Drew, Nyssa felt maybe lost without their big brothers and sisters. I don't and will never believe that the campers thought of themselves as 'winners' of the war. They must have known they were 'survivors'. And just as they start to recover from this major loss, another camp marches at their doorstep trying to destroy them for no fucking reason. Seriously, FUCK YOU Octavian. So yeah, happiness was definitely not a common thing at camp half blood after the Titan War.

I always imagined he'd be a war correspondent, not sure for what country though. He’d be perfect for the job. There's no risk of dying and STAYING dead; there are many stories around him. Soldiers are losing it when they saw him get taken out by artillery, and the next day he’s back on his feet with one gold coin less (gotta pay the boatman).
His prosthetics would be more makeshift than usual since they’re so likely to break. This also goes for his eye, which is why sometimes when he’s looking to the side, it looks a bit odd. Apparently there was a shortage of prosthetic eyes in WW2 because soldiers would lose an eye a lot through flying projectiles of all kinds.
I nicknamed him “The Skunk” because of his hair. He’d wear it short in those years to maintain it better, making the pigment-less stripe along his scar very visible. Soldiers like to give nicknames.

HI IN LIGHT OF CHAPTER 1114 OF ONE PIECE I AM COMBINING SOME THEORIES A BIT
It might be safe to say that I can axe my theory (here) that the world is sinking due to natural phenomena lol. BUT I'm gonna keep the idea that the people of the Great Kingdom knew the event would happen sometime in the future, and add on the one that connects Lulusia and Enies Lobby (here).
To summarize the latter, the One Piece Wikia has a trivia note on the Lulusia page that points out that the crater formed after Lulusia was destroyed is similar to the circular falls that surround Enies Lobby. This had got me thinking that 800 years ago, the same or similar weapon was used on an island (possibly the Great Kingdom itself) and the World Govt placed their judicial island over the subsequent crater as a monument to their victory and an example of the lengths they'd go for their "justice."
And now from the new chapter, Vegapunk has directly connected the rising sea levels from the Mother Flame weapon to the Void Century. “In order to understand where the world is heading, we must first address the past, specifically what happened 900 to 800 years ago.” This likely means that the weapon Imu and the Five Elders used existed 800 years ago, if one would need to know the past to understand what's currently going on. A threat from the past is also threatening the future. And I feel like with every chapter, there are more hints that suggest this weapon could be Uranus, the final Ancient Weapon. We know next to nothing about Uranus, except that it's one of the three Ancient Weapons mentioned in the Poneglyphs. Since the other two relate to the gods they're named after, many fans have theorized that Uranus will relate to the sky somehow. And as the lasers that annihilated Lulusia came from the sky, it's likely that the weapon is somewhere above the clouds, which would fit in the theorized theme for Uranus. Also the amount of destruction it caused aligns with what we've been told about the Ancient Weapons' potential. An island-sized crater in the earth that causes global earthquakes and rising sea levels certainly counts as mass destruction!
I've been mulling in my head since the last chapter that the Elders have had this weapon at least since the end of the Void Century, but that it could only be used with the Ancient Energy (the same energy the Iron Giant had run on) of the Great Kingdom and that technology was lost after its fall. And then comes Vegapunk who was researching this energy to create his own everlasting energy source to better the world, thus developing the Mother Flame. On a side note, I wonder if the Elders were using Vegapunk this whole time in order to create something that Uranus could run on. Idk I get that York tipped them off, but it seems too coincidental that the Elders would get a sample of the Flame and a guaranteed loyalist that can create it, and then order Vegapunk's death soon after. Vegapunk just seems like too much of a wild card to have been kept alive for so long.
But back on topic!! When the Elders were "testing the Mother Flame" on Lulusia, what I think they were really doing was seeing if that energy would work with Uranus. And because it did, they are desperate to make sure the Flame stays intact on Egghead, as it's they're only way to use Uranus. They've already shown the extent they'll go to in order to keep the world under their feet, it would be just a minor inconvenience for the world's land to sink if it means they can continuously subjugate entire islands in an instant (they live on the Red Line, what does it matter to them if sea levels rise?)
And if the Elders, likely some of the original 20 allied monarchs, had similar views 800 years ago as they do now, then it probably wasn't hard to conclude how they would use Uranus when they got their hands on it. And that could be the reason why Noah was built. Those of the Great Kingdom, a highly advanced civilization, knew the ramifications of using Uranus and thus were preparing for the inevitability of a world with little land. As Doflamingo mentioned, just 5 more meters of rising sea level would swallow up most urban spaces, so it would only take at least 5 more times of using Uranus to sink the majority of land globally (if each use causes sea levels to rise 1 meter). The World Govt then erased records of the Ancient Weapons to make sure no one else could threaten them with the other two, but also to hide the fact they already had one in their possession. And as a counter, the shipwrights of Water 7 passed down Pluton’s blueprints in case the World Govt got hold of that weapon too, which I had brought up in one of my posts.
I feel like with every chapter I'm reforming and rerouting theories lmao. Let's see how this holds up in two weeks 😂

it wasn’t a focus of his character, but curious to think that emiel regis (alongside the other hundreds-of-year-old characters on the continent) lived through some major events of history or “lore” from the past few hundred years (the invention of witchers, fortification of human cities, aelirenn’s last stand, falka’s rebellion, kaer morhen pogrom) …
buuuut because he spent the majority of these past centuries face-down in the gutter and also hadn’t yet adapted to human society, idk if he even noticed what was going on at all during this time, much less remembers most of it

May I ask about your Star Wars fanfics? I wanted you to know I really enjoy them to read on my off time!
May we know your opinions/ headcannons on Dooku and Qui gon's relationship?
How was there dynamic during there early years?
Do you think deep down in when dooku is alone in Sereno, asleep he dreams of seeing his old padawan one last time?
This lyric comes to mind I added on to it.
"Alone and forgotten, i never thought he'd look at me again, but he smiled at me, and I held him.. just like I used to do. Like I used to when he was scarred as a child. Or maybe he was holding me?
Holding me to the light as he used to hold me and look at me, those eyes so full of hope and admiration"
You may absolutely ask me about my Star Wars fics! Thank you for reading my stories! (I swear one day I'm going to finish off those WIPs, aaaaaaaaaa).
Caveat that I'm not as active in the fandom these days (on a bit of Star Wars sabbatical), but I do feel (and I'm someone who melds Master & Apprentice, Jedi Lost, and Dark Rendezvous into canon as I see fit) that in contrast to Dooku's relationship with Rael (which was surprisingly casual, especially as Rael aged. This, if I may be allowed a small tangent, is probably a combination of Rael's aggressive form of charm and Dooku's inexperience and youth)
...but anyway, in comparison to Dooku and Rael, there's this...distance, on the surface, that Dooku keeps from Qui-gon. Their relationship, at least the trappings of it, is more formal, their roles more defined. (This being said, anytime Rael pops by and the three of them are together, those neatly constructed walls start to crumble). This doesn't mean Dooku doesn't care about Qui-gon. He cares, deeply. But as we see in Tales of the Jedi, Qui-gon's apprenticeship years mark the true beginnings of Dooku's disillusionment with the Jedi Order and his slow fall to the Dark Side. And I think part of this detachment from Qui-gon (even as he shows a ferocious protectiveness over him) is, in part, Dooku trying to shield Qui-gon from his more insidious desires and actions. (This backfires, on more than one occasion, when Dooku chokes the crap/lightening attacks/otherwise manhandles out of various enemies who were either threatening his Padawan or were obviously part of the bloating corruption that was metastasizing across the entire Republic).
And to get back to their relationship, we have Dooku being a little more standoff-ish. A little older, a bit more bitter, in general. And young Qui-gon is less outwardly brash than Dooku (at least when he was younger) and Qui-gon is definitely intimidated his new Master. (Although he respects him as a teacher and while Dooku is an exacting, demanding instructor he is also always fair. Whatever his personal troubles are, Dooku is never anything less than a damn fine teacher).
So yes, Dooku cares. Qui-gon's death had no small part in his eventual choice to join the Sith and I have no doubts whatsoever that he dreams both of Qui-gon and Rael regularly as he lies alone in that gigantic, empty bed on Serenno. (I think Dooku, as much as he was trying to manipulate Obi-wan in AotC by bringing up Qui-gon's name, was also being completely honest with Obi-wan in that moment. Actually, he was wholly honest with Obi-wan that entire scene and got shot down due to - at least as Dooku would have seen it - Jedi indoctrination).
And it's this caring that helps to bury Dooku in the end. Caring about his Padawans. Caring about the Republic. About Serenno. About the Jedi. For a man that is so stoic and proper, he is passionate and invested in the future of all the different organizations and governments and societies he's tasked with defending (to the point he'd rather burn them down than allow them to continue to fester). But more than any of that - the Jedi, the Republic, Serenno - Dooku is a teacher. A teacher who is instructing in an intense, one-on-one relationship that puts him in the position of half-mentor/half-parent. We see it when he and Rael embrace after meeting again years later; we see it when Dooku asks an adult Qui-gon for information about this Sith, to protect Qui-gon; we see it when Dooku is forced to turn on Ventress; we see it when he tries to recruit Obi-wan again and again (and, for the record, does not kill him in the bridge scene in RotS when he easily could have crushed Obi-wan with that platform).
This is all to say Dooku cares. And that, to some degree, was exactly the problem.

„Bender, 9th August 1709
Most Serene Princess, most gracious, dearest Sister!
My most dearest heart’s sister! Since an opportunity arose to pay my humblest respects, so I arrive with these few lines, by wishing from my deepest heart that this letter may find my heart’s sister in best health and in best wellbeing, and that I may soon be so lucky as to receive pleasant news abou it, since I have been for so long in fear and without all news. But I always have hope in our Lord, that he will always shield both of my heart’s sisters and our Madam Grandmother [idk how else to translate it, it sounds silly in English] and keep them in constant good health.
I keep the sure consolation that my hope won’t come to nothing, even though I haven’t had any news for so long. On the other hand, rumours have told, that my dearest heart’s sister and H.M. the Queen [their grandmother], are well. What concerns our dearest sister 1), so has an unexpected, wicked rumour benumbed me; it was implied, that we had become all too unlucky through the measles, that both, I and my heart’s{sister}, should have lost all our joy on {Earth}. But since I thought about it and found, that this wicked rumour is completely unfounded, so I have taken courage again and am of the strong conviction, to soon be refreshed by reliable and by all means comforting news about her complete wellbeing. Our Lord protect both of my heart’s sisters and let them both be afforded the solace to enjoy each other’s lasting wellbeing. This is my highest wish, who until death remains
My heart’s sister’s humblest, loyal brother and servant Carolus
{I} have to finish my letter in haste. Otherwise I’d pay {my} respects for longer and could report, what would be better to do orally.
Everything went well here. Only at the end of year and through a special happenstance did the army have the misfortune to suffer losses, which, as I hope, can be made up for soon.*
A few days before the battle I also received a faveur in my foot, which hindered me for some time from riding. Within a short time I hope to catch up the detriment, that I had had to refrain from riding for some time.+”
1) “The Duchess Hedwig Sophia died in Stockholm on 11th December 1708. The message of this sent by the Council via the Royal Secretary Klinckowström arrived already before the battle of Poltava in the Swedish camp. But at the beginning the death was kept a secret from the king, who was suffering from his wound, and only during the flight to Turkey did he gain knowledge of it. Karl XII, whom the defeat did not cause any noticeable emotion, was so devastated by the news of his sister’s death, that he cried like a child, and in the letter to Ulrika Eleonore seemingly doesn’t want to believe in the reality of this painful loss yet.
Or as Hatton puts it:
Tumblr media
My own notes:
*The Battle of Poltava was fought on the 8th of July (the letter’s date is in the Swedish calender and 10 days behind, for context). During the battle the Swedes lost nearly half of the army, due to either being killed or captured, and several days later on the retreat the remaining main body of the army surrendered, leaving Karl with about 1000 men of originally ~20 000.
+ Karl received a shot going through the entire length from the back to the front of his foot on the morning of the 27th of June, his birthday. He rode around with it for several hours, dripping blood. Upon unmounting he fainted, but during the operation he held his own foot, encouraging his surgeon to cut away. Over the next days he went feverish and his life hung in balance. On the day of the battle he had pulled through, but was still weakened, and obviously unable to command in person as he always did. Upon reaching his exile in Bender, a second operation was done on his foot to remove another bone from a toe. By the end of September he was able to walk on crutches and ride with a support for his leg.

It's not fascism when we do it. It's not a war crime when we do it.
The current U.S. Administration is really going with the Neville Chamberlain strategy here. And predictably the aggression expands. Except it is worse than that because they're helping Israel do this.

I have not done a good job of keeping up across all the platforms I’m active on. But I’ll try to do better.
This piece was shot for Godzilla’s 70th anniversary on 11/03. I broke out my Godzilla MonsterArts figure and faced him off against a freshly built custom of Ota Murakami from the Godzilla: Half-Century War comics. The artwork by the inimitable James Stokoe instantly made him one of my favorite artists and gave me 5 different versions to make of the same character. This one is his appearance in 1967. For the 75th anniversary, I intend to have a figure for each of his appearances across all five issues of the series.
