In short- the bugs of Hallownest did not take it well. Lots of screaming about "The end of the world" and "past sins coming back to haunt them". Elderbug almost had his second heart attack and basically every bug, other than the Pale King children and Quirrel, hid for several hours. (Zote likes to claim he was the first to make contact)

As for why Dewi's Dad is in Dirtmouth? Well, he wasn't very happy when his 11 year old son told him about going into a 'mysterious cave' to see his bug friends. Adult supervision and all that.

#Elderbug: “Guess I'll die”#Dewi is a lot less intimidating than his Dad. (Despite both looking like eldrich horrors to bugs) He's very gentle with his movements #Compared to his dad who has no idea how to handle bugs at all and is frankly terrified that they are crawling all over him #But man. Dewi idolizes his Dad so hard #The Old Stag is here and Also almost had a heart attack. But he likes Dewi and was curious enough to meet his Dad. <3 why not at this point #Hollow is not wanting to explain their first meeting with Dewi to his Dad. Despite being possessed by an evil moth she-demon.#hehe I loved drawing these guys. tho this took wayyyyy longer than it should have. #my art #furry #anthro #monster #dragon #oc #not my own but nevertheless #these characters are all lots of fun....thank you everyone for giving me cool guys to draw #also BIG things coming (said for the sixth time over the course of the year)#anyway i went apple picking for the last time this year recently which pretty much brings scrumping season to an end #here's a review: blackberries EARLY. annoyingly early but they were okay. greengages amazing. brings a tear to my eye #cherries SUCKED. cherries do better next year. grapes i'm still harvesting actually but doing well. sweet #and apples kind of popped off!!! year of the ugly apple this year - the beautiful red ones were worse than the scabruous pimply brown ones #which were crisp and had thin skin and a beautiful sweet-mellow-nutty taste...wonderful

it's finally done, and it's probably the gooiest garbage i'll ever make.

credit to my new buddy @i-love-tdp-if-you-can-tell for doing almost all the characters' flat colors!! i am so so so infinitely thankful to them bc otherwise none of the other efforts of making this would have happened. between the lineart, backgrounds, shading, and touch-ups, these five pages have taken years off numerous braincells' lifespans, and without their help, may have annihilated my entire brain capacity.

you would think that between last time (one other event) i tried comic-ing and now, i would've learned to not handwrite the text, but alas...
