Gamera⭐️
This was a suggestion i got from instagram. Mostly asking around there for suggestions. (I only had a small window of time that i did accept request suggestions though in order to finish those first, ive closed them again ^^:) Someone asked for Gamera; Heisei Gamera to be more specific. I did try to somewhat fit for what i could find as for Gamera’s heisei design. Slightly stylized in some parts but other than that, should fit with what was asked. Also for a first time of drawing the giant turtle, i actually like it ^^
Im not that up to knowledge on Gamera separately (i think i recall watching 2 of the movies as some point but better make a mental note to watch some more when i got the time) though i do think theyre really cool from what little i know. In a way, i just have fun drawing kaiju since of course its what makes me happy :]
[i do still enjoy this so thats a good thing i suppose :D]

So I was inspired while rewatching TMNT ‘03…
Thought I’d give a try at doing my own take on a mutant turtle design, combining the elements of each iteration that I’ve seen with some more animalistic turtle traits. Hope they look alright! The turtles themselves are the 2003 ones, I always thought it was a little odd they had no bridge on their shells. I did keep the three fingered hand in later sketches tho!
Poor 2003 Leo. Guy can never catch a break.

Bison-coded Giants that migrate nearly year-round between seasonally good hunting grounds, who never bothered to develop writing because their memory is near flawless.
Gopher-coded Gnomes whose extensive underground civilization is fed by an earthen mound agriculture that they harvest from beneath and which is indistinguishable from regular-ass grassland to the untrained eye.
High Elves that plant Elven Cane everywhere they go, transforming the landscape and expanding the Elven Empire through ecological colonialism.
Appalachian Dwarves, drinking whiskey on a porch near sundown, telling the little’uns a scary story about gettin’ too greedy and diggin’ too deep in those ancient caves what which sum done been older’n life isself

I don't usually post my sketches but I really like how this one turned out.
What's the point of angst without some good aftermath healing?

I'm in that strange purgatory where I know how I want it to end, but trying to piece it together is another story. I appreciate everyone's patience, though!

Biblically accurate Michelangelo! Love this guy. What a round little fella. Box turtles are so circle shape.
Box turtles can do this cool thing where they can go all the way into their shell and close the door! Their plastron is hinged in two, so when they retract they can hide their extremities and completely block out predators from getting in at all. They’re also mostly terrestrial, although they do need water to keep themselves well hydrated and partake in the occasional swim. Male box turtles also have bright red eyes, which is pretty neat.
Mikey probably could retract more than the others, but I don’t know if his humanoid limbs would quite fit completely inside his shell post mutation. Even so, good luck landing a hit on this hard scaled and agile little guy!
I added a little color too for some painting practice! Ornate box shells have some really impressive patterns to help them blend into the grasses and leaf litter they call home.

One of my favorite things to bring up to folks is the correlation between global flood myths across multiple ancient civilizations. How is it that all these people who've never had contact with one another all have myths about a giant flood? Do you honestly believe it was subsistence hunter cavemen who wiped out all the megafauna? They put skilled hunters on the line every time just to kill these creatures en masse? Not to mention these megafauna are all well preserved meaning they weren't even butchered for meat. How were the great planes formed?? You think the cavemen just did that too? Core samples found in Greenland show traces of nuclear glass. Glass that's only formed through intense heat. Now I'm not suggesting we were nuked back into the stone age, that's crazy talk, but have you ever wondered why ancient civilizations were so obsessed with tracking the stars? Was it cause they were just bored? Or was it because they were watching for another meteor? Have you ever thought about the fact that humans today are nearly indistinguishable from humans 65,000 years ago? They had the same capabilities as us and yet written records only begin to appear a few thousand years ago? Doesn't that seem odd to you? Have you ever thought about how you would preserve history? Hard drives? CD's? Paper? On a long enough timeline all these things decay. Oral traditions like storytelling? Now that's a good way to ensure things get passed down but things end up getting distorted along the way. A generations long game of telephone
Tldr: history has been wiped out once before and it's likely that's it's happened multiple times. This implies that it could happen again
