To anyone who cares to answer: what's your favorite cliché YA trope
Artemis: I don't read "YA".
Holly: His is the "misunderstood bad boy" trope. Mine is the "save me" trope. Where the girl saves the boy, of course.
Artemis: Of course. We can't have subtlety.
Juliet: I thought Artemis's would be the "billionaire love interest".
Artemis: Surprisingly, that trope is meant more for the female gaze. Also, it's wildly incorrect.
Minerva: And he says he doesn't read YA.
Artemis: These tropes aren't only in YA!
Beckett: I like Chosen Ones where the hero gets a magic sword!
Myles: Wizard powers are vastly superior to magical weapons.
Beckett: Not if I cut the wizard's arms off!
Juliet: I like the tropes where children are quiet. Oh, there's no such thing? Life imitating art.
Butler: ... I'm partial to the meet-cute.

Not that fairies believe in vampires, but that’s okay, because vampires by and large don’t believe in fairies.
- The Fowl Twins: Deny All Charges by Eoin Colfer
Fun tidbit but now I kinda wanna see vampires in the next book

Happy (late) Christmas!!!

Bonus unfinished Minerva and beau

Fanfiction specific fanart and pose reference credits under the cut
Have any of you read road to recovery by Snakequeen-in-Norway?
I really like it, or atleast I like the concepts it sets up. There a lot of aspects I really don’t like, whole chapters I need to skip everytime I read it, in fact. And I don’t agree with the main ship.
But I adore the concepts from the original book it expands on, and the ideas it sets up in terms of friendships, family, connection, and supporting loved ones during hard times.
I personally tend to HC artemis as aroace or ship him with Alex Rider, just because I think the alexmis fan-works are really cute.

This is an idea I’ve had in my head for a while.
We know that artemis was hospitalised on his birthday (sept 1st) and that he continued receiving treatment for 6 months. This means he would’ve been receiving treatment during Christmas. I always liked the (admittedly unrealistic) idea of Artemis’s being allowed to return home briefly for the holidays
Sorry for the lateness of this, I travel for Christmas and I need stable internet to use my drawing tablet

myles: *labours for three whole days to figure out the passcode to artemis's lab*
myles: *refuses to tell beckett what it is*
myles: *heads outside and immediately falls into a suspiciously large hole*
myles, who has the physical capabilities of a glue stick: HELP
beckett, who took less than three seconds to dig said hole: gimme the passcode bitch

Myles would be the type of guy to just fangirl (in a Fowl way) over Dune or sm like. just straight analysing each scene and rereading the trilogy every night etc. etc.
And he'd lore dump to Beckett and he'd kinda be a bit indifferent (still listening intently tho ofc) but then Myles would mention the Muad'dib or the worms and he'd suddenly gain interest bc. creature

I just started rereading Artemis Fowl, and now I’m very confused about Lazuli’s genetics.
Spoilers for the end of The Fowl Twins book 3
So, Lazuli is supposed to be a hybrid of elf and pixie with a little bit of goblin, and at the end of the last book it was revealed that her mom was the fairy that Artemis gets the fairy bible from. Initially I thought this was really cool, but while rereading the first book I realized that her mom is a sprite? Does that mean that her dad is also a pixel with a bit of goblin, and Lazuli’s phenotype just doesn’t show any sprite traits?
I considered that maybe Artemis mistook the fairy for a sprite when she actually wasn’t, but that seems unlikely since she had green skin, which as far as I know is only a trait that sprites have.

My favorite number is 26040566546403670636635, what's yours?
Artemis: We are not answering this question, because no one in this bloody found family respects me, and so their answer will inevitably be:
Holly, Juliet, Mulch, Foaly, Beckett, Lazuli, Doodah, Minerva, Vinyaya, Lili, etc.: 4.
Myles: The only correct answer can be Fibonacci sequence, as it is the formula for perfection.
Beckett: Of course you'd ruin the joke.
Myles: I never joke about numbers.

So I managed to find a copy of the first Fowl Twins book on the internet archive and finished it within two days. I'm not sure if it was an earlier manuscript or something but that was easily the most flaunting Eoins done in his writing. Halfway through it I was like God damn, he's *really* flexing here. But again, I dunno if that was a "beta version" or something. But it was enjoyable, to be sure.
It reaches a level of absurdity of character traits that bordered on anime levels of wtf, which I appreciate greatly.
Seriously, a 150 year old fancy pants British noble, a fucking nun, and an extremely small troll?
And then the twins, my God the twins. Two different kinds of autistic, and yet they work so well together.
Much like the book, tbqh. My only gripe is that Lazuli felt a bit under developed in terms of her backstory. We learn alot about her being a hybrid, but not alot about her life and personality. But I'm sure we'll get more in a later book.
Also the opportunity to see Holly made me so happy.

Have you ever drawn NANNI, amongst the other ‘The Fowl Twins’ characters? Having a character who’s essentially Artemis + Holly combined was always funny to me.
No I haven’t, I actually don’t really know how I’d draw NANNI.
Thank you for the idea though, I’ve drawn almost every character in the books atleast once, even Adam adamson.
