Forgotten Goddess: so, if I understood correctly, Momo is the youngest daughter of Izanami and Izanagi. Which is very interesting

If I remember Shinto canon correctly, Izanami died during childbirth because she gave birth to a god of fire.

This means that Momo was the younger twin of Kagutsuchi (who was killed and cut in 8 pieces by their dad) who somehow survived next to the fire god, or her body was burned to ash before birth, and she needed to gain it later on, which might explain why she was forgotten.

The other option is that Momo was conceived after Izanami died but before Izanagi broke the not-looking-at-your-spouse-in-the-underworld rule. This would mean that 1. Her parents were extremely horny 2. Momo was born in the underworld and probably has something of it in her portfolio, which she could or could not be aware of 3. Her mom had to relive the trauma of her own death, which probably made her already stressed the full act of giving birth (this time without her (ex)husband for support).

Anyway, I also need to point out that Momo is an older half-sister to Amaterasu and is aunty to the imperial house of Japan (if it survived the dawn of quirks)

What was I going to ask with this preamble? Ah, right. Momo's relationship with her parents—did they love her and stuff?

Really didn't think of the full implications of her placement in the Shinto pantheon (literally all of those options are hilarious by the way, could you imagine Momo being an underworld goddess? It's great). Really considered having her be the second youngest to circumvent the whole "her mom's dead... kinda?" deal.

Yeah, having Amaterasu as an older sister must have been an experience. Especially with her still being around, being able to ask the literal sun goddess for a favor whenever she wants.

Her and her parents weren't close, persay, but there was never any real hostility. They loved her as much as they could, especially since one of them isn't really around anymore.

Hands down, this is my favorite fantasy read of the year!

I think, however, that the thing I loved most about The Forgotten Goddess is that it dives right into the character meetings and drama. Sure, I love a good world building and character-building story, but this one builds as the story progresses from the very first chapter. I liked that it wasn't a hundred pages of info dump before diving into the action. You get the action from the very beginning!

This book also has a little bit of everything. There's humor, there are feel-good moments, action, magical moments, and angst. Ugh, the angst!

I flipped page after page, not wanting to put the book down. And then when it was finally over, I was an emotional wreck. I have no idea how I'm gonna hold out for book 2 lol.

The Forgotten Goddess - Rebekah Sinclair ⭐️⭐️ 🗡️ This reads like a YA fantasy. Like if you had told me that this was written in 2010 and the FMC has a very "Chosen One" Mary Sue typeset, I would never had picked it up. It's like Throne of Glass made awkward and uncomfortable love with any copy-paste dystopia from the 10's and you've got The Forgotten Goddess.

The relationships were like the most frustrating part. It's tagged as a romantasy so I was expecting lackluster world-building and half-done characterizations, but how do you write relationships so 2 dimensional that they are threatening to give back another dimension. A little torture between people who only know the other's first name? Now best friends. Dude was in love with his fated mate and just absolutely torn up about it 400 years later? Give it a chapter and all of a sudden he's over his dead mate. WITH NO EXPLANATION. No building. No chemistry. Just mediocre. 

2 stars and that was being generous because if it was labelled as Young Adult fantasy, it would fit that genre perfectly.

One Pucking Wish - Ellie Wade ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🏒This series is just so easy to read. It's such a cozy read, even the angsty backgrounds of the characters just doesn't seem high stakes. Gunner and Penny have all the chemistry. I wish the relationship was built a little more. Gunner seemed to go from absolute hatred to lusty-liking with absolutely no reasoning.

I'm not mad about it at all. I just wanted it to be longer to be honest. Gunner and Penny were perfect. They were so similar while also being different enough that it didn't feel like one person dating themself.

Awakening the Forgotten Goddess by Rebekah Sinclair

I don’t know where to start this review. The book is an emotional roller coaster ride. The good, the bad and everything in between. It was fantastic! There is so much depth to this story and the FMC and it’s executed so well!

Rebekah’s writing is exceptional! She weaves a story that is complex but will keep you intrigued and on your toes. She will have you falling in love with the good guys and despising the bad guys.

If you are wanting a great story that has all the twists and turns, adventure and trauma, and all the feels, this story is for you! There is some sensitive content so check your trigger warnings.

When the fuck was anyone gonna tell me Ed Greenwood had a youtube channel [x] where he does shockingly well produced lore videos on little tidbits of the Forgotten Realms, straight from his home campaign to the greater rpg community.

Both of these videos related to Eilistraee and non-Lolth sworn drow settlements are a godsend. Visiting Imberlur someday would be a dream come true for my Tav, and I can totally see an astral projection trip into Eilistraee's court when she reaches the climax of her story, similar to how Gale had a one-on-one with Mystra towards the end.

Thank you Ed your little side stories are worth their weight in gold while WotC continues to do nothing with these elements that have been around for literally over 30 years.

Idea that would've been so cool to see in pjo

Leto,similar to Aphrodite and Nemesis looking different from person to person, taking form of the person's mother/ mother figure in their life.

Weather it be their actual mom, or someone they look up to like a mother(another camper, their mortal parent even if they're not technically a mother,a teacher they had, etc)

Like,I still don't know what happened to Leto that got her having to reform(I don't think we ever got an answer to that and I'm still confused by that-) but I kinda wish Rick actually did something more with her.

Like, come on! With all these characters with mommy issues you're not gonna let them interact with the literal goddess of motherhood???

But yeah- honest would've made for really cool interactions with characters though.

If a character doesn't really have someone they see as a solid mother figure, Leto appears to them either with a base appearance she tends to use around her own children, or as close to what the person would imagine a mother figure to appear like.

Say she shows up around hoo to help out the seven in some way or the run into why doing something near one of her temples/sacred places. And she appears differently for each of them.

Specially, imagine Percy who hadn't seen his mom in months because of Hera, likely very much missing her, and then running into Leto who appears a lot like Sally to him

Leo seeing his mom when he looks at Leto and the feelings that come with that, maybe Jason doesn't end up seeing his mom but either a more human looking form of Lupa or just Leto's base appearance that she usually uses to appear more like both her children's own preferred forms. Annabeth either does sees Athena or Sally as well etc

I just think writing off Leto was such a missed opportunity(especially since there's a story where she is assaulted by a giant son of Gaea. Not one the big ones they mainly fight in hoo but close to like the arena giant in botl iirc.)

I also just really want to see her turn someone into a frog.

Spoilers below~ (aka my rant about design and character)

I had a real problem with Madoka, because of few things. She already became a Goddess and had a new design and I couldn't think of her title for my series.

She already is a Goddess, I could take her outfit from the end of the anime, but 1. Where is the fun in this? and 2. It doesn't really... suit her. I mean, I understand the white and more mature look of her clothes, she now has a really difficult role with lots of responsibilities. But. It doesn't really feel like her. All of them had their costumes based on their own ideas and wants. All my designs before were based on their oryginal clothes as Magical Girls, so why I should do differently for Madoka? I still took some element of her ultimate form, but you can still look at it and say it is her. What she would wanted to wear. Still cute and pink, but suited to her role.

Madoka is naive, childish, but also so very optimistic and kind. I had problem to look for a patronage that would suit her. The one that she was in anime were weird for me. Mercy, redemption, and death. They gave her everything. And I guess, mercy suit her, but it doesn't suit my concept of Goddesses. But I finally realized that she always sacrificed her wish for others. That in every timeline we were shown, she became a Magical Girl not for herself but for others. To save friends or cat or people she doesn't even know. It is kinda stupid of her, I am sure there were more timelines where she irracionaly used her wish, where others wouldn't have. But it is so her. She always sees the best in others, never in herself. So it is only natural she would become a Goddess of Sacrifices.

I'm rewatching the episodes in French and Dathura hasn't made a reappearance has she? She just up and vanished.

Sorry to keep you waiting. First I had to take some screenshots and then my laptop's battery was always on the verge of giving out, so I couldn't just sit down and answer sooner.

But honestly, yeah! I actually wanted to point that out too!

Compared to the rest of the Brotherhood of the Forgotten, Dathura's disappearance is just plain weird. I watched an interview where Tot revealed that, unlike what the Kickstarter trailer might suggest, the demigods wouldn't really play a major role in season 4. And honestly, that's fair. Given the show is about the Brotherhood or the Tofu and, more importantly, they had just learned their purpose in life ended up being their being manipulated by a megalomaniac with daddy issues, realistically, I wouldn't want to have anything to do with action for a while either.

There's of course the fact that each of them asked to be sent to completely different locations and had very different goals. For example, Coqueline, Kali, and Sipho just wanted to pick up the pieces of what Oropo and especially Echo started and live as a family. And despite both of them ending up in Bonta, Ush wanted nothing to do with Black Bump.

Which makes Dathura's disappearance from the main plot all that weirder. Because she is about the only demigoddes who has any business participating in the main plot by virtue of her actually being there.

Seriously, once again, the Sadida Kingdom is at the very centre of everything. They're the Nécromes main, or at least first, target. And yet, there is no sign of Dathura helping out as the powerful demigoddess she is despite her accepting Amalia's invitation to live in the kingdom and even going as far as remaining by her side the entirety of the third episode.

She was never even introduced to Armand and Aurora despite both of them being there when Amalia returned with her. Made all the more jarring by the fact that she remained by the princess' side even as she mourned her father's death and the next day (?) she just...vanishes with no explanation?

Seriously, out of all of the members of the Forgotten, the two with the most reason to have a bigger role in season 4 are Dathura and Ush. The former because she is supposed to be living there at the time of the Nécromes' attack, and the latter because he was the one who informed Joris of what was going on.

In Ush's case I can understand he decides to stay on the sidelines since he isn't exactly a hero, he mostly just does his own thing. But Dathura's disappearance can be very jarring.

What, did she awkwardly leave Amalia to mourn her father while she went to check in on Ogrest?

Oh, well. The season's been great so far and I don't really have any trouble with this. It's just weird, it's all.
