Birds of a feather
Tumblr media
꘎♡━━━━━♡꘎ ꘎♡━━━━━♡꘎
Pairing: Seungmin X gn reader
Summary: After getting sick while trying to cram for exams, Seungmin takes care of you.
Genre: Fluff
Word Count: 1.2K
A/N: This was requested a while ago and I'm so sorry it's taken me this long. If anyone has exams coming up, good luck!! If they've already passed, I hope you passed them. Exams are difficult and kudos to you for studying or winging it, whichever one you choose.
Side note: it probably seems like I'm ghosting people and that's not my intention at all. I traveled to Chicago and then came home and ended up getting sick hours later. I've been absolutely miserable and zooted on Benadryl. I haven't had the energy to open Tumblr, but now that I'm better and not feeling high on medicine, the fun continues.
_ _ _
“Honey, I’m home!” Seungmin called out as he stepped inside the shared apartment. Upon not hearing anything in response, he sighed, and kicked off his shoes.
College was hard and exams were harder. For the past week, you have been cramming yourself non-stop for exams. Seungmin had tried to get you to take breaks and slow down, but you were relentless about your studies.
You had to memorize half a textbook for one course and multiple flashcards for another. Somehow remember a complex math formula, remember a few fancy vocab words for your English class, on and on it went.
Seungmin had warned you multiple times that you were going to burn yourself out, but you refused to listen. You had waited until the last minute again and now it was biting you in the ass.
The bag of fast food in Seungmin’s hands released a greasy scent that he was sure would capture your attention as he grew closer to your shared bedroom.
He called your name and gently knocked on the door. “I know you don’t want to take a break, but I’m pretty sure that you’ve been working for hours without proper hydration and without food. I got us dinner, so can we eat together?”
He held his breath and listened, but you never responded. His eyebrows creased with worry and he knocked a little louder. “Please don’t tell me that you’re ignoring me. You’re not fooling me, I know you’re in there.”
When you didn’t respond a second time, he threw his head back with a groan. His hand reached out and he shifted the knob. Inside the bedroom, you were a wreck and his eyes went wide.
You had taken multiple things off the bedroom wall. The framed photos of the two of you, the painting that Hyunjin had gifted you for your anniversary, and a poster of his band, it was all gone.
In their places, you had plastered sticky note after sticky note. They were all color coordinated and had multiple scribbles on them that looked like chicken scratch. His jaw dropped as he stepped forward to read them.
Each color of sticky note had been for a different class. Green for finance, blue for English, yellow for physics, purple for business. On and on they went. Each one had a scribbled reminder of things you needed to study. Some had a few lines through them and he assumed that those were ones you had already finished working on.
“What the hell?” He whispered beneath his breath. He knew you were swamped with studying, but he didn’t know you were pushing yourself this hard. “Baby?” He called out as he approached the desk you were slumped over.
Two different textbooks were wide open and your arms laid limp over them. Your head found a home where the two met. The dwindling sunlight from outside casted shadows on your face.
He placed the bag in front of you and gently shook your shoulder. “Hey, wake up.” When you didn’t budge, he tried again. “Get up, please. You can’t lie like this, you’re going to hurt your neck.”
The soft shaking sent your head up so fast, you nearly slammed into his chin. You sucked in a deep breath and blinked your bleary eyes. “Sorry, sorry. I’m up, I’m up.” You rubbed your eyes and yawned.
“Are you okay? How long have you been studying for?”
“Studying?” Your voice came out sleepily as your eyes shut again. “Right, studying. I should be doing that and I…” You trailed off trying to find the right words. “I um…I-”
He frowned, “you look miserable.”
“I’ve gotta study all night. The first final is tomorrow afternoon and I-” Your face scrunched up and you forced yourself to swallow. “I can do it and I-”
“Do you feel okay?”
“Mhmm.”
“Honey, you don’t sound okay.” Concerned, he placed the back of his palm to your forehead. “You’re warmer than you usually are. Do you feel okay?”
“I’m so tired.”
“Besides that?”
“My throat hurts a little.”
“Sinus congestion?”
“Some.”
“You do know what I’m going to say, right?”
“Please don’t.”
“You can’t attend your finals if you’re sick. You’ll risk getting everyone else sick and I-”
“I’ll be fine.”
“They will be able to be taken another day. You can get extensions from your professors. If you try to take them like this, you’re going to fail them. Don’t even think about it.”
You threw your head back and complained, but Seungmin wasn’t having any of it. He shook his head, grabbed your hands, and gently tugged you to your feet. “Come on, let’s get you feeling better.”
“My brain hurts.”
“Have you had anything to eat?”
“No.”
“Drink?”
“I got tea from my favorite cafe earlier.”
“You must have picked up a bug or something from there. You’re so tired and stressed out. You’ve been neglecting the basic human needs which means your immune system is down.”
“Are you always a know-it-all?”
“I wouldn’t have to be if you took proper care of yourself. Come on, arms up.” You lifted your arms without hesitation. “You should be glad that you have me in your life. All I want to do is help you.”
You blubbered a response, but it was muffled and slurred. Your entire body felt awful. The pressure in your sinuses was causing a headache. You could barely breathe through your nose and the scratch in your throat was getting worse and worse.
You didn’t fight it as Seungmin shifted your body around to wiggle you free from your clothes. He helped you into a t-shirt and a pair of your favorite shorts. He helped pull you to the bed and gently pushed you back.
“I got you some food, but I bet you don’t feel up for eating, do you?”
“You know me so well.”
“I would hope so, you dork. We sleep in the same bed, so of course I know you. Does the term ‘boyfriend’ mean nothing to you?”
“I love you.”
“You’re so lucky I love you too. Get some sleep and I’m going to lay right here beside you. Let’s get some sleep together, okay?”
You mumbled in an agreement and sank back into the bed. The body pillows caught your limp body parts. You sucked in a final deep breath. “Nighty night.
“Yeah, yeah, good night. Get some shut eye and we’ll talk in the morning.”
“But the exams-” you started.
“Will be there tomorrow and we’ll discuss it then. Just trust me on it, you’ll be okay.”
“But-”
“No.”
“I-”
He cut you off with a kiss. His lips were salty from the warm french fries he stole from the bag. The granules were still coating his lips. When he pulled away, you licked your lips.
“You’re gonna get sick.”
“For you, it’s worth it. If I get sick, then you really have to stay home. You won’t want to leave me alone and dying, do you?”
“You’re unbelievable.” You rolled closer to him and tucked your head beneath his chin. A final sigh escaped you as you closed your eyes.
“I love you too.”

kindly, can I please have a #12 for a little Merlin/Arthur smoochy moment *puppy eyes*
OK, well, this was a real exercise of my abilities. I adore Merlin. I watched it as it came out and watched the ending in real-time. It's one of those shows I always go back to and watch episodes of just to have on. That said while I ship Merlin and Arthur I have never written Merthur before.
You chose a kiss in grief, so I present to you my first ever toe dip into writing this ship. I do really hope you like it. ~~~~~
Merlin knocked on the king's chambers and listened carefully for a reply. He heard nothing, just as he had heard nothing at lunch nor this morning for breakfast. Arthur was not doing well. It has been one blow after another. First, his father, then Morgana, then Agravaine. It has taken its toll. How could it not? He balanced the bowl of soup and plate of chicken on one arm and opened the door.
“Sire? I have dinner.”
“I’m not hungry. You can take it back to the kitchens.” Arthur was sitting at his desk, a stack of untouched papers in front of him and large dark bags under his eyes.
“You haven't eaten anything since dinner yesterday. If this is your version of weight loss, it really doesn't suit you.”
“I don't have time for this, Merlin, really. Go.” Arthur had not bothered to look up at him once since he walked in.
“Please, Arthur, I’m sure if you just have a bite you-”
“Merlin, I said, go!” Arthur stuck his hand out to point at the door without realizing how close he actually was. The bowl of soup tipped out of his hand, and when he instinctively tried to catch it, he scalded himself on the thick broth. He had anticipated Arthur taking a while to eat, so he asked the kitchen to make it extra hot so it could sit longer. Now that seemed like a very poor decision. He took in a sharp breath through his teeth and cradled his hands close to his chest. He looked up at Arthur. He was half out of his chair; one hand braced against the table, the other outstretched to him. His face did not seem to fit the situation at all. It was wide with grief, sorrow, and even fear. “Are you alright? I-I’m sorry -”
“I’m fine sire. Let me just get this cleaned up.” He knelt to take care of the bowl and tried to ignore the growing pain, but Arthur's hand stopped him.
“Stop. You’re not alright. That soup was near boiling.” He grabbed the napkin Merlin had brought with the food and wiped down his wrist and hands. Small blisters were already forming. “Go have Gaius tend to this.” He opened his mouth to protest. “And stop arguing. It’s no longer a request.” He stood on the other side of the door, confused and a little dejected. He did as his king commanded and returned to his home. Gaius greeted him, but when he saw his face, he nodded and motioned for him to sit down. Merlin explained what happened and let him cover his hands in aloe and wrap them.
“You can't force this, Merlin. Grief and betrayal are heavy burdens on someone already carrying so much.” Gaius had him test his fingers before putting away his things.
“I know! If anyone knows, I know! I want to help him! I-I want to be there for him! There was something between us before all of this, and now it seems like it’s all just vanished.” He ran his bandaged hands through his hair. There had been something before. He would never forget the taste of the king's lips on his. How his hands moved to the back of his head, holding him in place. How he made him promise not to get, himself killed when the castle had been attacked. He sat in bed that night wide awake. There was just something not right about Arthur's behavior lately that shook him. There was something he was blind to simmering right under the surface.
He drifted off to sleep, and hours before the sun was up, there was banging on Gaius’s door. The door wasn't even open all the way before Gawain barged in.
“Where’s Merlin? Merlin!” He had spotted him stepping out of his room. “Arthur. He’s refusing to see anyone, and he’s talking nonsense. You need to go see him. Calm him if you can.”
“Nonsense? Nonsense how? Where is he?” He didn't even bother to grab his jacket before he fled out the door, leaving Gawain behind him. He found him in the council room, pacing the floor with a wild look on his face.
“Arthur?” he looked up sharply when he realized someone was in the room. “ Leave. I have no need for you.”
“I’d beg to differ as you’re standing here in your night clothes, pacing like a madman.” He was determined not to let the comment of having no need for him sting him too harshly. It did, anyway.
“You don't understand Merlin. I can't sleep, I can't eat, not until I figure out who’s next!”
“You’re not making any sense! What’s next?”
“NEXT TO BETRAY ME!” The bravado seemed to vanish from Arthur all at once as he braced himself against the table and hung his head. “I’ve lost my father, my sister, my uncle. Will it be one of my knights next, or worse, will they take everything dear I have left. Will they steal you away from me too?” Merlin’s eyes went wide at the confession. Arthur refused to meet his eyes.
“You must know by now I would never betray you!” The words were true and false at the same time. He would never turn against Arthur, but the sheer knowledge of who and what he was would sting all the same.
“Why not! I’ve dragged you through more perils than anyone! I’ve gotten you kidnapped, stabbed, poisoned. Your very position as my servant demands you put your life on the line for me, and I let you! Despite how much I-” He cut himself off and threw his fists into the table. “And last night, you were just trying to help, and I let my temper get the better of me. Now you’re hurt yet again, and it’s my doing.” Arthur crossed the room and gingerly lifted his arm to see the bandages. Those soft blue eyes held a storm of guilt and fear when their eyes met. Feelings that, as a man who had been crown-prince all his life, had learned to suppress. Arthur gently let his hand fall and caressed the side of his face. “Please tell me you won't betray me. Lie to me if you must, but I need to hear it.”
“I’m loyal to you, Arthur, and everything I will ever do will be for you.” He couldn't bring himself to speak the lie even if a lie it truly wasn't. His answer seemed to be what Arthur was looking for. The hand moved from his arm to the back of his head as his other held him steady. Arthur’s lips were warm and kind before they turned desperate. It was like he needed to feel the life in Merlin to convince himself this was real. He let him take whatever he needed from him, happy to be in his arms.
When Arthur released him, he was less manic but looked more exhausted. He nearly collapsed in a chair but didn't seem content to let Merlin out of arms reach just yet. He ran his hand down the length of his arm and brought the bandaged hand to his lips.
“You must be stupid, Merlin, to keep running back to someone who keeps doing this to you. Someone who can't even kiss you in public.” There was humor in the self-deprecating joke, and he decided to take it for what it was. A step in the right direction.
“Maybe one day you’ll change that.”
And maybe one day you’ll forgive me for my betrayal.

“...What?!”
My brain wasn't really comprehending what was going on.
“Wait, you guys are joking, right?” trying to convince myself it was all a big joke, my parents thought otherwise.
“Y/n, we really are moving, even if you like it or not.” my mom seriously said. My father nodded, joining in on the conversation.
“Your mother is right y/n, we are moving. And that’s that.”
“Can’t I just stay here? I can’t just abandon Shinsou!”, in all honesty, I really didn’t want to leave Shinsou. He was my friend and I can't just leave him.
“Shinsou will be fine without you, he can still talk to you over your phone.”
“But it won’t be the same, he’s literally my only friend I have.”
“Y/n. We need this change and without it, we won’t progress economically in life. We’re moving. Final.” feeling a bit guilty about the ‘argument’ that happened, I looked down back at my unfinished food and began to eat little bits and bites as my mom said these words to me.
“Y/n, we need you to start packing once we get home. We’ll be leaving in a few days.” father said as he finished his food and called over a waiter to pay the bill.
“Yes father.”, I said automatically as the three of us got up and went out the doors and into the car.
We were finally on our way back home when I decided to just scroll through my phone.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
As we finally arrived home, my mom parked the car in the driveway, and we all got out and entered our house for the time being. After taking off my shoes at the front door and placing them neatly near the shoe rack, I went upstairs as my parents went elsewhere.
Finally arriving at my room, I entered and closed the door behind me. Walking towards my closet, I open it and begin to dig for some suitcases. I finally find an old crusty-looking brown suitcase with some worn out stickers on it that was buried in there for who knows how long. My mom told me that it used to belong to my grandfather; her dad’s, back when he was in America and that once I was born, he wanted it to be passed down to me. Come to think of it, I have a lot of my grandfather's things.
When I was younger, my grandfather visited us one time and gave me some brass knuckles with blades on each side of it and spikes that resemble my stingers. He told me that he traded it at some pawn shop he found when he traveled for some time in Brazil. Once my parents found out that he gave that to me, my mom gave him a lecture while he just waved the situation as if there was a fly buzzing and annoying him. I ended up getting it taken from me and my dad said that he’d give it back when the time was right.
Smiling, I place the suitcase aside and pull out some cardboard boxes that were also hiding towards the back of my closet.
For the next hour, I stuff the cardboard boxes with my clothing and other junk, while in my suitcase, I place more important and reasonable things in there. After securing the final box full of clothing with duct tape, I put it aside and look around.
My room is completely bare, except for my desk area.
Walking towards my desk, I place the brown suitcase on top of it and open it up, only to find a black journal with a 3-digit number lock on the cover. Curiosity gets the best of me, and I try to unlock it but fail. I try for about 10 more minutes trying to open it but eventually I give up. In the end, I place it on my desk so that I can fit my laptop and other things in the suitcase first before finally putting the journal back on top of everything and closing it.
“Seems like I’m just receiving surprises today.” mumbling to myself as I place my suitcase near all the other boxed up things. I then hear my door open, turning around, I find my mom standing there.
“Can I come in?”
“Sure.”
She comes in and sits on the edge of my bed. I sat down next to her, and we just stayed silent for a bit until she broke it.
“This must be hard for you, moving away from your childhood and Shinsou but, we need this Y/n. Not only for me but for you too. For your future, don’t think that we're only doing this for my shop. Your father and I put some thought into this for you as well. So, please give it a shot?" I listened to her as she explained it.
“I feel guilty and shitty all of a sudden.”, she softly smacked the back of my head as I smiled.
“Mom, I get where you're going. I know all this is for my future and for you guys as well. I’m sorry for arguing with you.”, mom smiles and ends up saying that it’s alright and we just sit there peacefully.
Eventually, she gets up and says that we’ll start getting the things in my dad’s truck tomorrow.
“Your father and I will be taking the day off tomorrow, so we’ll have time to take the desk down and the bedframe. For now, go to sleep alright?” I nod as I get in bed, which was really the only thing that was left normal. Minus the stuffed animals, they were all in boxes.
As my mom walks towards the door, she turns around and smiles.
“Good night y/n.”
“Good night mom.”
As those words left my mouth, she got out of my room and closed the door behind her.

The next day: 2 days before the move
______________________________________________________________________
I asked my parents if I could ride the bus to school today, they said it was alright and I left towards the bus stop. As I wait, I begin to text Shinsou.
[Hornet] Toshi, I’m riding the bus today. Are you?
[•Toshi•] Ya I’m riding today, u there already?
[Hornet] Ya I’m here, I’ll wait for u
I close the messaging app and open up Reddit to look at some memes while I wait for him to show up.
After a while, I feel someone's stare and I look up to see Shinsou just standing there. It finally took my brain about five seconds to comprehend what was happening and I let out a ‘yelp’ and pointed at him accusingly.
“Toshi! Why did you scare me huh?! I could’ve had a heart attack!”
“But you didn't, that’s good.”, Shinsou replied as he moved to stand next to me.
“How's it been?”
“It’s been good, but I do have some news though.”
“Okay, what is it?”
Looking down at the floor, I find the ground more intreading than looking at Shinsou.
“Why am I stalling? Just say that you're moving already, y/n damn it!”
Shinsou must have found my silence strange and looked towards me with an eyebrow raised.
“Hey y/n, are you okay?”
Looking back up and turning my attention towards Shinsou. I spoke without another thought.
“I’m moving.” As those words flew out of my mouth, they seemed to have smacked him because he was expressionless. Silence took over as we just stared at each other, neither one of us wanting to speak first. I looked away from him as the bus pulled up to the stop. I walked towards its open doors and sat down where we usually sit. Shinosu seemed to finally snap out of it and came in after a second or two and sat down next to me.
The bus closed its doors and drove off towards our destination.
Neither one of us speaks, even as we walk next to each other on school grounds and towards our homeroom.
When the bell rang to finally indicate that school was in section, neither one of us spoke as the teacher began the roll call.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
“When?”
I swallow the bit of food I have in my mouth. It was already lunch and before this time, Shinsou still hadn't talked to me at all. So, when he just did at this moment, I didn’t know how to respond.
“What?”
“When, where, and why are you moving?” he spoke with an unnerving amount of seriousness in his tone.
“This man did not just talk to me like that.”
“Hey, watch the tone Toshi. I don’t like it when you talk to me like that.”
Shinsou looked slightly taken back but remained with his natural expression.
“Sorry y/n, I’m just wondering where you're going.”
“It’s alright Toshi, I get it.”
Again, neither one of us speaks for a few minutes until Shinsou decides to talk again.
“So, where are you moving to?”
“Musutafu is the area where I’ll be moving to. And to answer the ‘when and why’ factor of it, I’m moving in like 3 days, then at the end of the 3rd day I’ll have to leave. And it’s for my mom’s company so that I don’t have to take the train every day to UA. Assuming that I’ll get into that school in the first place.” Shinsou stayed quiet for a bit more, and I was about to go dump my food when Shinsou asked me yet another question.
“So, you're going to finish your 3rd year of Jr. high over there?”
“Ya, I am.”
The bell rings, meaning that it’s time for our afternoon classes to take place. And just how it happened in the morning at the bus stop, Shinsou didn’t say anything as we made our way to our next class.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Everyone’s out the door once the final bell rings, not waiting for the teacher to finish what he was explaining. Taking my time, I packed my bag and walked towards Shinsou’s desk. He was packing the last few things and slipped it on his back.
“We should hang out.”
“Toshi, we always hang out.”
“I know that but we should just go someplace, right now.”
Dumbfounded, I stopped walking. Also stopping in his tracks, he turns towards me, waiting for a response.
“I’ll have to ask my parents first.”, pulling out my phone, I text my mom.
[Y/n]
Hey mom, can I hang out with Shinsou right now?
[Mom]
That’s alright sweetie! Just be safe!
[Y/n]
Ok
Putting my phone back into my pocket, I looked at Shinsou who was patiently waiting for me. I then grab onto his forearm, and we begin to walk towards the exit of the school. Unnoticed by you, Shinsou’s cheeks start to form a light hue of red as you pull him along.
“Okay Toshi, Lead the way!”
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
“Imagine losing to me, count'd ever be me.”
“Shut up y/n, that was luck.”
“You mean skill. There's a difference Toshi.”
Shinsou ended up taking me to the arcade we always used to hang out at while we were younger since we still had time back then. We played a lot of games that we used to play and some other new ones that weren’t there when we first came here.
Walking away from the racing game that we just played, we went on our way to find another game to beat until that’s when I saw the cutest, most adorable stuffed animal in one of those claw machine games. It was a f/a. My eyes practically became stars as I stared at it.
Shinsou seemed to have noticed my sudden stop and looked at where I was looking. He seemed to have finally had a lightbulb light up his brain as he left y/n’s side.
“Y/n, can you get us some drinks?”
“Ya sure, I’ll be right back!”, leaving to get the drinks, Shinsou grabbed a hold of my wrist. I look back to see Shinsou’s face, silently asking what he wanted.
“Just grab them and stay at the bench near the entrance.”
Confused, I nodded and walked off.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
“GAME OVER”
“Bitch.”, cursing at the device in my hands, I lost yet another game of f/g. I exited out of the game and checked the time.
“One hour.” It’s been an hour since Shinsou told me to wait outside, promising that he’d be out soon. The drinks in my hands weren’t as cold as they were when I got them, so I decided to open up the messaging app and text Shinsou.
[Hornet] Toshi, where are u?
It’s been an hour, Toshi.
“I swear if he ditched me," shutting off my phone and putting it away, I decide to wait a few more minutes.
“Okay y/n, if he doesn't come or respond in 5 more minutes, leave.” is what I had in thought.
Waiting a few more minutes and finally looking at the time again, it showed that 20 minutes had passed. Sighing, I got up from the bench and threw away my finished drink as I still had Shinsou’s drink in my hand. I begin to walk about a meter or two from the arcade, thinking to myself if I’ve done something along the way to make Shinsou mad at me.
“Y/n wait!”
I turned around to find Shinsou jogging towards me. He finally stopped when he was about two feet from me. I then walk up to him, closing in the distance and slightly shove him.
“What the hell Toshi?! I waited over an hour for you outside! I thought you ditched me!” I yelled at his face, but he didn’t seem to mind that I was yelling at him.
While you began to lecture Shinsou, he didn’t seem to really mind. In fact, he liked the angry look you had on your face, dare he say, cute even. Of course, he didn’t admit this to you, so he just kept quiet until you finally finished yelling at him.
“I didn’t mean to take that long. I just needed time to do something.”
“Fine, sorry for yelling at you. But what the hell was so important that you took over an hour to do?” you asked as Shinsou spoke again.
“Getting something for you was what took me forever, I hope you like it.” he said with a softer tone than when he usually speaks. Before being able to respond or question him any further, he showed you what he had behind his back all along. It was the f/a you saw in the claw machine game.
Taking it into your hands, a small blush forms on your face. Looking at Shinsou, you smile warmly and thank him.
“Thanks, Toshi, this-this is really nice of you. But I feel bad for shouting at you and for you to waste your money for me.”
“Well, you can repay me by hanging out after school for as long as possible, until you have to move.” he says while scratching the back of his head while looking away, not wanting you to see the blush that began to form on his face. Finally, you're able to respond as you nod.
“I’d love to hang out with you until I move. Plus Toshi, it’ll be so much fun!”
“Alright, um, we can go to that ice cream shop down a few blocks. You know, the one that we always used to go to when we were younger.”
“Sure, let's go!” you say as Shinsou takes his drink from your hands.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
“Thanks, Toshi, I really did have a good time today.”
“Ya no problem.”
After getting our ice cream, Shinsou and I just walked around for a while until it neared my curfew. He offered to walk me home and I agreed to it. Now, here we are in front of my house as he gives me my f/a stuffed animal and waves goodbye. Before I could close the door, he called out.
“Same thing tomorrow? Or are you busy with something?”
“Nope, I’m free tomorrow so ya, same deal! I’ll see you tomorrow Toshi!”
“See ya y/n.” he says as he begins to walk away, and I close the door while locking it behind me.
I walk upstairs and begin to set my f/a plushie next to my suitcase, so that I won’t forget it on the day of the move. I go downstairs and eat dinner with my parents and finally, I go back upstairs and get ready for bed.
Pulling the covers over my body, I think about what had happened today. Smiling, I close my eyes, thinking of what Shinsou had in plan for tomorrow.
The next day came and went, the same deal as yesterday.
Shinsou and I hung out after school, and we went to a small local mall that was nearby and just looked around while also trying on some silly outfits and taking selfies.
Afterwards, we both left the mall and just window shopped while walking on the streets. And yet again, we ended the day with Shinsou walking me home and parting our ways.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Today was it.
Today was the last day you’d be able to hang out with Shinsou and then you’ll have to leave. As the days before, you both walked out the school one last time and around town. Today, Shinsou seems to be more quiet than usual and so were you.
As the two of you walk down the sidewalk, you see one of those photo booths and you practically drag Shinsou towards it.
“Y/n, what are you doing?”
“Toshi, we have to take some pictures!” you say as you arrive at the photo booth and shove Shinsou it while you follow behind him. As the two of you sit down on the seat in there, you start swiping and clicking on the screen to set the settings and filters.
“Okay Toshi, you ready?”
“No.”
“Well too damn bad.”, you click the start button on the screen and nudge Shinou to look at the camera with you. He does and you decide to make funny faces while Shinsou just sits there.
“Common Toshi! Just make one funny face for once!” asking him, well, at this point you're begging for him to make one, eventually he sighs.
“Fine, I’ll do it.”
Smiling, you look at the camera as it has already begun its countdown. You both strike a pose, while Shinsous was more poorly made but you didn’t care. The camera takes the picture and you both get out of the photo booth.
You snatch the photos when they get released by the machine and smile at them. Most of them were only one of you doing the funny poses and Shinsou just staring blankly at the camera, but the last one was when you both made a pose, and it had a filter that drew cat ears on both of you. You give one copy to Shinsou as he looks at it and slightly smiles at it.
“Okay Toshi, where to now?”
“Just follow me.”
The two of you begin to walk for a while and end up walking to a park that you know all too well.
It was the playground near the old elementary school the two of you used to go to for recess. And it was the same place where you two officially became friends.
You make your way to the old swing set and sit down on one of them, swinging forwards and backwards slightly as Shinsou sits in the one right next to you. The two of you just swing in silence for a while, you then stop swinging and get off. Shinsou follows you and you finally reach the same spot where you’d always lay down with Shinsou, and so you do just that. You lay down and look up towards the evening sky as Shinsou lays down beside you.
Both of you just lay there in silence, peaceful, enjoying the moment. That's until Shinsou sits up. Sitting up straight as well, you look at him in question.
“I have one last thing for you y/n.”, Shinsou pulls out a nice, small, black box with a golden design to it. Before you could question him, he opens the box, and I let out a gasp.
The box is revealed to have two matching rings inside of it. The rings were both part of a Ying-Yang. It’s just that one had the ying and the other had the yang. (Feel free to use any matching rings you want! I’m just using these as a reference.)
Shinsou takes the Yang ring and holds out his hand, I give him my right hand and he slips the ring onto my ring finger and he slips it onto my ring finger. Once done, he takes the Ying ring and slips it on his right ring finger and looks at me, waiting for my response.
“Toshi, it’s beautiful.” I say in aw, but then a thought accrued to me.
“Toshi, how’d you get this?”
“I paid it off with my own money, don’t worry about it.”
“Your own money? Toshi probably cost too much, take it back!” As you begin to slip the ring off your finger, Shinsou grabs a hold of your wrist, stopping you. Looking up, you meet Shinsou’s eyes and notice how close your face is to his, so you move away a few inches.
“Y/n, keep it. I’m giving it to you as a gift. So, keep it.”
Both of you stare at each other as you finally find your voice again to respond to him.
“Toshi, thank you. This is really nice of you.” you say while smiling, you then hug him. Shinsou froze at first, but then hugged you back.
The two of you stayed like that for a while.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
You finally make it towards your mom’s car. Your father has already gotten in his truck, both ready to go to your new house elsewhere. You turn around to see Shinsou standing there, he accompanied you to your house one last time, for now at least.
Walking towards him, you hug him one last time and he returns the hug.
“I’ll see you at UA, okay?”
“Assuming that I’ll even get in.”
“Toshi, I have a feeling that you’ll make it.”, you say, not wanting to tell him that he will get in, just not in the hero department. You both let go of each other and you smile at him.
“I hope so, it would be a bummer that this really would be our last time we see each other.”
“Ha ha, very funny Toshi.”
“Y/n! It's time to go!” mother exclaimed as beeped her car horn to gain my attention. Looking back at your mother, you look back at Shinsou and smile.
“I’ll text you and everything. See you in UA Toshi.”, and with that, you walk away and towards your mom’s car. You enter the passenger seat and close the door. First, your father pulls out of the driveway and soon, your mother does as well. You wave at Shinsou as he waves back.
Once he’s out of view, you turn back around.
“Ready?” mother asks, as you just nod.
“Yes mom. I’m ready.”

A/n - Originally, this chapter was going to be longer, but I decided to cut it in half. The ring part was inspired by this other fanfic that I read, I just can't remember the author or the name of it. -=- But credit to the author who inspired it to me!

Ganyu and reader eating together at..
Ganyu's office!
Ganyu has been overworking lately and reader wanted to surprise her with a visit and a meal.
You have been leaning against the railing of a balcony waiting for Ganyu to end her break time to come. It has been quite a while since you both had hang out due to both of your busy schedules.
You thought that it would be a nice idea to give ganyu a surprise visit due to her schedule as she rarely leaves for lunch and overworks herself.
You had taken a day off from work so that you can prepare a meal for ganyu. You spent 10 hours making adeptus temptation for her as you had seen her craving for it. Even though she is a vegatarian, she can't resist it. You also made some salads in case ganyu did not feel like eating adeptus temptation.
You snap out of your thoughts and looked at the time. It was already break time for ganyu. You stepped into the building making your way to ganyu's office. You were looking at how neat the inside of the building was, not a speck of dust in sight. You find the working environment very condusive as it was super tidy and clean.
You had finally reached ganyu's door and knocked it. Waiting for her signal "You can come in" to be said, but it had been 3 minutes and you haven't heard anything. You decided to just go in, only to see a sleeping ganyu, resting her head on her desk to catch up on more sleep.
You gently shook her to wake her up. She slowly opens her eyes. "Y-Y/n..? W-What are you doing here?" Her sleepy state quickly turned into a surprised one. You stifled a giggle as she looked quite cute when she was asleep. "I'm here for a surprise visit! I also made some food for us!" You quickly opened the containers. Revealing an adeptus temptations alongside a bowl of salad.
She looked really happy and kind of worried. As she really wants to eat the adeptus temptation but she can't eat too much meat. You reassured her that it is fine to eat it once in a blue moon. You both then ate together in silence.
Tumblr media
Keqing and reader eating together at..
A cafe!
You asked Keqing if she wanted to hang out and she agreed. Only to request to go shopping afterwards as she loves to shop a bunch!
"Y/n! What do you think of this dress?" Keqing came out of the dressing room. Instead of her usually white and purple dress with feather like details. She was now in a purple and black dress.
The black parts of the dress kind of looked like something you would when you go stargazing and the purple swirls on it made Keqing look like a goddess.
"It looks really good Keqing!" You replied and nodded in approval of how she looked like. "Really? Then I'll get it. Are you sure you don't want anything?" She asks. You then shake your head as you already got too much clothes due to keqing shopping for you nearly every single day. Keqing then went to purchase her new outfit. After she was done checking out she took your hand to drag you into another store.
It was a jewelry store, they had necklace with noctilucous jade. Bracelets made out of cor lapis. And one ring that really caught my eye. It was made out of amethyst lump, which can't be found in liyue. Keqing saw it too and decided to buy two, so that you and her could match rings. Even though you insisted that you don't need it.
She was halfway through her shopping spree, she still had 10 more shops to visit. RUMBLE RUMBLE!
Keqing then looked at you after hearing that noise. She then sighed, "You could have said you were hungry you know? I would have stop and take a break. Hmph. There was this one restaurant that had just opened up. Want to go try out their food?" You nodded your head. As you were hungry you wouldn't care much as long as it fills you up.
She then dragged you to the newly opened restaurant. Luckily for you both there was no queue and you guys got a table for two. The waitress passed you both a menu so you both can order.
"This place isn't that bad. The workers are efficient and fast. I'm starting to like this place." She says before taking the menu. You agreed and flipped open the menu. That was where you found your favourite food on there. You already got your order and saw that they had golden shrimp balls too.
Once the food arrived, keqing was trying to contain her excitement for golden shrimp balls. You both chatted while eating together.
Tumblr media
Ningguang and reader eating together at..
The jade chamber!
You decided to make a fancy dinner with home made food for the tianquan. She was out of liyue for a business trip. Today is the day she would be returning back to the jade chamber after her trip and you wanted to make something nice for her.
You were busy in the kitchen preparing multiple dishes for Ningguang. You had plenty of leftover ingredients and you decided you would make a feast for her to welcome her back home.
You took out fish, onions carrots , violet grass and many more. You started cooking bountiful year, Jade parcels and Mora meat.
You got up early to prepare all these meals for her and spent days learning to cook with xiangling so that you could perfect the dish for Ningguang.
Once you were done cooking you looked at the time. It was about time for Ningguang to reach liyue and you got out of the house and went to the docks to wait for her.
"Ah y/n? You're here already? That was fast" You heard her call your name out. You then took her hand and began walking to the jade chamber to get her to have your meals.
When you reached you opened the door for her to step inside, once she was in you gently shut the door and made your way to the dining area. Where she was quite surprise to see that you made a feast for her to enjoy and quickly went back to her stoic face.
"My that's quite a lot of dishes. Mind eating with me?" As she went to her sit to sit down. Only to wait for you to sit so she could begin digging into the meals you prepared. You guys ate together while you listen to Ningguang talking about her business trip in inazuma.

Tumblr media
You’re infatuated with him. He stands tall, you guess at least six feet, and his smell; he smells like no Alpha you've ever encountered. There’s this look to him, unequivocally attractive but in a unique and confusing way that draws you in. His eyebrows lift slightly making his otherwise small and ordinary eyes the focal point of his face. He looks around the room with a focus and intensity that feels inhuman. You finger the small bracelet that holds your secret and walk behind him, your Omega instincts telling you to get close. You suddenly recognize where you are and what you’re doing. looking down to your hands, you stare horrified at the bracelet that was taken off without your noticing. you put it back on and sprint out of the building, not stopping until you’re behind the safety of your padlocked apartment door.
Your phone goes off and you answer, making up an excuse about food poisoning and promising to be in early the next day.
Your Alpha, it had to be him.
You’ve wondered what it would be like to meet your Alpha, if you would feel bad about hiding from them. You don’t feel bad, only upset with yourself for losing control. You almost gave up your whole life in one stupid moment.
The simple silver bracelet that sits on your wrist feels heavy and you look at it. It’s a chain that suppresses your true self and one that sets you free. It’s one you choose to wear because the alternative is a life looking over your shoulder; waiting for your Alpha to find and claim you. Your parents gave it to you the day you presented and it’s given you opportunities not many Omegas get. It changes your scent just enough to let you hide, giving you the ability to decide for yourself how you feel about your Alpha, to choose a life with him or to keep the life you’ve built for yourself.
Tumblr media
Your coworkers don’t waste time the next morning. One is already at your desk and two more walk up as you sit down.
“Ok, what did I miss?” you ask.
“Right when you left this scary looking Alpha started raging. Stark had to call in the avengers to get him to calm down.”
You act surprised, knitting your brows and leaning forward in fake interest.
“What happened?”
“Apparently He smelled his Omega but couldn’t find them.”
“Crazy.” you say, opening up your email and scrolling through.
Coworkers start dispercing and you let out a held breath. You get to work, having extra from the day before and lose yourself for several hours.
“That’s him.” whispers a voice and you look up at your coworker before following their eyes.
It’s him, your Alpha, and he’s walking straight toward you.
You try your best to stay focused on work and not give away the slight shaking of your hands as his scent hits your nose. He stops at your desk and you look up at his chest avoiding eye contact.
“What can I do for you mr…”
“Dr. Strange,” he pauses. “I’m sure you know what happened yesterday.”
“I don’t judge sir.”
He looks at you and leans on your desk.
“Ah, but you are judging. Spit it out then.”
You take your hands off of your keyboard and fold them over your chest.
“Omegas don’t have lives after they mate, I guess it doesn’t doesn’t feel fair to me.”
“What makes you think my Omega wouldn’t have a life?”
“You would let your Omega Work? Travel by themselves? Have their own bank account?”
He thrums his fingers on your desk.
“My Omega will have a good life, they need to know their place though. When I finally find them they won’t even be allowed to leave the house without permission.”
You bristle. “Well then, I’m glad you weren’t able to find them.”
He leans farther over your desk, his demeanor shifting into one of intimidation. You do everything you can not to cower back as his aggressive scent washes over you.
“You don’t understand what you’re talking about.”
“Maybe your Omega is hiding from you, that’s what I would do if I was an Omega.” You finally make eye contact, staring into the stormy grey abyss of his irises and he leans forward even more.
“They better not be.”
“What would you do if you found out they were?”
His fist clenches and you can’t help but push your chair back a few inches. You see Tony walking toward you from the corner of your eye and stand up, pushing your pointer finger against his forehead.
“You sir, are one of the most obnoxious people I’ve ever met, and I work for Tony Stark,” you say.
His mouth opens in surprise and he stands up.
Tony makes it to you at just the right moment. “Hey now, stop harassing my assistant. We’re not having a repeat of yesterday, thank you.”
Strange narrows his eyes at you but doesn’t say anything as he follows Tony into his office.
Tumblr media
You walk to the back of the grocery store, picking up a pint of icecream and hurrying to pay for it. Your day was long and the only thing you can think about is a hot bath. You don’t notice him until it’s too late. His smug face takes in your slightly messy appearance as you try to pass by him.
“Dinner, I assume. Your questionable behavior before is starting to make sense.”
You stare at him unsure how to respond and he tilts his head and smirks.
“I’m insinuating, dear, that your disrespectful behavior this morning was caused by a lack of adequate nutrition.”
You readjust your shirt and let out a huff.
“I wonder,” you pause and smile sweetly. “How much shit did you have to consume in your ‘diet’ to become such an asshole?”
You pull out a pair of earphones and stick them in your ears, turning on your heel to pay for your dinner. He grabs your arm, pulling you close and tears out your headphones with his other hand.
“I’ve never met anyone who gets under my skin so easily, why do you make me so angry?” he sneers.
“Your anger is your responsibility,” you pull away, shaking slightly and holding back tears.
You can feel his eyes watching you as you jump into a self checkout line to pay.  As soon as you reach your apartment you let the tears fall. You hate him. You hate his stupid face and egotistical personality. You hate that you react to him, that your nature makes your knees go weak when you’re around him. You hug your bracelet against your chest and let out a shaky breath. As long as the bracelet stays on you’re safe. You just need to keep it on, that’s it.
Tumblr media
You stand in Tony’s office staring at a folder.
“Send a courier or another employee, I don’t want to do it.”
Tony raises his eyebrows in shock at your sudden and uncharacteristic outburst.
“I need someone I trust to drop them off, Is there some reason you can’t do it?”
“I just don’t get along with Dr. Strange.”
“You’re dropping off a file, not going on a date,” he quips.
You take a deep breath and remind yourself that you love your job. It’s just a quick trip, drop it off and you’re done. It’s been a week since you saw him last, he doesn’t know who you are or he would already have come for you. Just a quick drop off, that’s it.
“I’m sorry sir. You’re right, I’m being unprofessional. I can do it.”
He waves you out and you call an uber riding it to what Tony described only as “The Sanctum”.
You walk in and look around the large entry room, searching for someone who can help. It’s eerily quiet and you walk up a huge set of stars, wandering and looking at various museum-like displays until you’re on the top floor. The room is dark, the only light coming from a large round window. A stranger walks up and looks at you with a surprised expression.
“I’m sorry, I’m looking for Dr. Strange? I’m just dropping something off from Mr. Stark.”
“Ah of course, I’m Wong.” He says holding out his hand.
You reach out and take his hand and he looks at your wrist, grabbing onto your bracelet and pulling it off.
“I haven't seen one of these in a long time.” he examines the bracelet closely.
“That’s mine, give it back please.”
“Not until you tell me why you’re hiding your designation.”
“My Alpha is a cruel man, please give it back. I need it now.” you say urgently.
“Hey, nobody will hurt you here. Who is this Alpha?”
You start shaking and reach out again trying to take the bracelet back from him.
“Wong, I… Oh no, not you again,” Stephen says from an open doorway, his face turning into a scowl.
You grab the bracelet and push it on your wrist. It’s too late though, Stephens eyes widen in recognition as your scent hits him.
You bolt. You know you won’t make it out so you pull at the first door you find, slamming it closed and locking it.
The banging starts almost immediately.  “OMEGA, OPEN THIS DOOR RIGHT NOW!” he yells.
“Don’t do this, please. I don’t want this. I need more time. Don’t force me, please,” you cry.
Sparks start flying in a circle in front of your eyes and your Alpha is suddenly walking through a portal. You look around, seeing a second door and yanking it open. Something catches your leg and you’re pulled backwards by what looks like a glowing rope.
“You knew I was your Alpha the whole time.” he says, moving his body to sit on your middle.
You bite your tongue and glare at him.
“Answer me!” He yells, grabbing your arms and pushing them above you.
His face is only inches from your own and you spit without thinking. He lets go of your hands and sits back, wiping the wetness from his face before staring at his wet hand.
“This explains everything, catching your scent, the extreme annoyance at your lack of respect, the anger I felt at the thought of you not eating like you should.”
He grabs your shirt, ripping it down the middle and causing buttons to fly through the air. Goosebumps appear over your skin and you shiver from both fear and the cold. He flips you over roughly, pulling off your shirt all the way. His hand roams to your mating gland. He leans over and breathes in, kissing it gently.
“Fuck you,” you say through clenched teeth.
He stops and waits until you’re done shaking.
“Why aren’t you biting me?” you whisper.
“You said you wanted time.”
He stands, pulling you up with him and makes a circle with his finger, opening up a portal in front of you. His hand is on your back pushing you through and when you turn around you're alone in what looks like a bedroom. Immediately, you run and try the door, opening it and sprinting out. The breath is knocked out of you as someone promptly slams you into a wall. You start coughing as the pain radiates through your body, then you’re falling onto a soft bed in the same room as before. After a few minutes of coughing you stand and run again, trying the window this time and just like before you’re caught and pushed through a portal back to the same room. You keep trying until you’re completely out of places to run, until your energy, both emotional and physical, is depleted.
The moment you finally give up a portal opens on your right and Stephen walks through.
It would have been easier if he had just bitten and fucked you right away. Letting you run over and over just to squash your hope is even more cruel, like a sick joke where he is the only person privy to the punchline. You stand in the middle of the room with your eyes down and wait for the inevitable.
He walks around you slowly and with each methodical step your anxiety grows until your knees buckle and you drop to the ground, crying into your hands. He stops and crouches in front of you, putting his finger under your chin and raising it slowly until you look him in the face. He lets go and keeps eye contact as he reaches between your legs and almost too gently runs his finger over your pussy. His eyes bore into you as his hand slowly becomes more and more noticeable above your clothes.
“I hate you.” you whisper as he pushes your legs apart.
He slides his hand into your pants and continues to rub over your clit, now making quick circles. His finger dips in your heat and you whimper involuntarily. You close your eyes as the sensations start to build and when you’re about to go over the line he stops. Your eyes shoot open and he smirks.
“It’s important you understand a few things.”
You aren’t expecting it, for him to suddenly pull his hand back and slap you across the face. You’re not prepared for the force behind his hand. How it makes your entire face sting, the pain radiating down your neck and shoulder. You grasp your cheek and bite your lip to avoid crying.
“I own you.” He slides his hand down to your pussy again.
“I own your pleasure.” He slides his hand up to your breast, pushing your bra down and pinching your nipple harshly. “And your pain.”
He backs away and crosses his arms, motioning with his head at the remaining clothes on your body. You slowly rise and remove your pants and underwear, standing in front of him fully naked.
His hand roams to your neck and he holds it gently.
“Hate me all you want.”
His hand constricts slightly around your throat.
“But don’t you dare run from me.”
His hand tightens again.
“Or hide.”
He keeps his hand on your throat and pushes you back to the bed until you’re lying on your back with him above you. His other hand reaches to your legs and taps between them gently. He puts his cheek against yours when you don’t move.
“Open Omega, and don’t you dare close those legs.”
He lets go of your neck when you relax your legs, backing away and unbuckling his pants.
“You don’t even like me,” you remark.
“I didn’t like who you were pretending to be.”
He walks over so that his sizable dick sits in front of your face.
“Suck,” he commands.
You suck on the tip without complaint and he grabs the back of your head and thrusts a few times before pulling out and patting your cheek.
“A much better use for your sharp tongue.”
You bite back a retort and look away as he positions himself in between your legs and pushes himself in with one forceful thrust. You let out a whimper and reach out your arms around him in response. He grabs your shoulders and ruts into you.
“This is where you belong Omega,” he wipes a tear from your cheek, a stark contrast to the painful pace of his thrusts.
“You.” he thrusts. “Belong,” The force starts to push you up on the bed. “ To me!”
He flips you suddenly and fucks you again from behind, gripping your hips tight enough to bruise. A warm hand brushes over your mating gland and you feel his breath against your back. Stars appear before your eyes as he bites, your entire body consumed with the conflicting sensations of pain and pleasure. It pushes you into an intense orgasm that leaves you shaking from the adrenaline.
“Understand?”
You nod and he slides into bed next to you and kisses between your shoulder blades. You look over at his discarded clothes, noticing the gleam of your bracelet poking out of a pocket.
“Were you serious when you said you wouldn’t let your Omega out of the house?”
“Now that you mention it, I’ve actually had a change of heart.”
He peppers kisses across your neck and back.
“You, my adventurous Omega, won’t even leave this room without me by your side.”
You try to move but he holds you close, effectively chaining you to him. You blink back a tear and shift closer to him, letting yourself relax into his arms.
“There you go, let go and accept it.”
“Never,” you say between choked sobs.
His hand roams up your body, exploring every bit.
“We’ll see.”

☆ Pairing: Au!Kuroo Tetsuro x f!reader
☆ Summary: Two broken hearts never truly heal no matter how many years pass. Maybe because the only person who can heal it is the one who caused the tear.
☆ Warning(s): angst, fluff,
☆ A|N: any feedback is appreciated! If you can please give it a heart or reblog it would really help my writing. Thank you!
Kuroo sighed for what seemed the millionth time today. His mind kept wandering off somewhere else, today felt different. There was something within him saying that today wasn't going to be the same again.
His phone vibrated once more alerting him of another incoming message. The screen lit up with the name Nanami. His lips moved as he saw the words spread out on the white background. Closing his eyes he leaned back against his office chair.
"What's with your face?" a voice spoke.
Kuroo rolled his eyes, "Nothing is wrong with my face, Kenma."
"Liar." he placed the folder down on his desk, "Is it Nanami?"
"No..." he half smiled "She's great actually... things are good between us right now."
"For someone who says that it sure doesn't look like it." Kenma said "Could have fooled me."
He sat up and looked at his friend, "Is there something that still needs to be done?"
Kenma shook his head "No everything important got taken care of."
Standing up he grabbed his blazer and put it on. "If anyone else calls can you take care of it?"
"Ok." before Kuroo could make it out the door, Kenma then asked him "Are you going to be alright?"
"I'll be alright. See you tomorrow..." he slightly smiled then took off.
Your feet grew tired as you kept walking the busy streets. The sun was just about to set down on the ocean. Even though it was warm, the air was nothing but fresh, the perk of living near coast.
A small smile formed on your lips as you saw kids running around the nearby playground, playing with their friends. It was the purest sound in the world; you thought.
There was never a doubt in your mind that being a mom was a gift. You hoped one day you too would have the chance at raising a mini you or a little boy that looked like your partner.
Your phone then rang. You quickly took it out of your bag and accepted the call.
"Hey love." you said "I'm on my way back home."
"I can't wait to see you." he said, making your chest tighten "I might be preparing something delicious for tonight."
"Really?" you asked "What's the occasion?"
He smiled, leaning back against the sink. "What, I can't just do something special for the love of my life?"
Your smile faltered as you remembered those words. Those were the ones that hurt you the most, even after almost 10 years.
"Of course you can." you replied "Can I have a hint on what it may be?"
"You would figure it out right away like last time. I'm not making that mistake again." he chuckled.
"It was one time, h/n." you smiled small, "Do you need me to bring something home from the store? I'm close to it."
"Pick out any drink you want to have and dessert if you'd like."
"Okay now I'm really curious about what you have up your sleeve, boy." you chuckled.
He bit his lip, smiling as he heard your laughter. "Don't take too long, alright?"
"I'll do my best love since it is rush hour. Wait for me?"
"Like you have to ask." he leaned over checking the food "I can't wait to see you. Text me when you get to the station."
"I will, love." you bid him goodbye and hung up.
It's sad how he has tried his best to make you happy and yet there's never a moment where something doesn't remind you of him. All these years you still wonder about how he's doing with his new partner. If he could accomplish the goals he had set out for himself. Even the thought if he maybe... still thought about you like you did.
Sighing, you shook your head "Stop it... you can't keep doing this to him. You're with h/n now not with him, he chose you agreed. No more second guessing." You mumbled.
You were about to turn left at the end of the playground when a stranger collided into you. Your feet slipped from underneath you. The bar that was put up around the playground was too far away for you to hold on to. Folding your elbows back, you opened your hands wide so you could stop your head from hitting the pavement.
Lucky enough, the tall stranger reacted in time and pulled you into him to avoid you injuring yourself. "I'm so sorry, are you alright?"
"Y-yeah... I'm fine..." you replied "That was close- wow I almost fell-" you tilted your head up and your breathing stopped.
The stranger kept their arm around your back, holding you against his chest. His eyes roamed the details on your face, from your eyes to shape of your lips. His heart was pounding against his chest, not believing you were in front of him.
"K-Kuroo..." you muttered.
"Y/n... I never thought I'd see you here." his brain couldn't wrap around the idea that you were here.
Realizing your chest was too close to his, you gently stepped back. Your cheeks flushed "I- um... I-I work around here."
"Right..." he mumbled "I thought you had stayed in Tokyo, is all."
"I got a job offer awhile back." You said "I've been living here ever since. What about you?..."
He rubbed the back of his neck, feeling shy suddenly. "I'm working with a company on a project along with Kenma."
"Wow... I knew Kenma was in town but didn't think you'd be here as well."
His head shot up "You spoke to Kenma?"
"Yeah..." you answered "He reached out to me and asked if we could meet up. I've been busy so I haven't had the chance..."
"Why didn't Kenma say anything to me?..." there was hurt in his eyes from the sudden news. "I thought Kenma of all people-"
You cut him off "I told Kenma that I didn't want you knowing. Don't blame him..."
"I see..."
The cars passed by, not knowing or caring about the two ex lovers on the sidewalk. Every person was moving on with their lives, focusing on getting home to their families.
You tried your best to calm your emotions. It was difficult to keep the facade up. Your body was itching to be again in his arms. "I should get going... goodbye Kuroo." you walked passed him hoping to forget you ever saw him.
However, Kuroo didn't want to let you go again this time. "Y/n, wait!" he yelled as he ran after you.
"He's not calling my name..." you repeated under your breath "He's not calling my name." Ignoring the loud sounds coming from the cars, you crossed the street.
"Y/n!" Kuroo yelled louder as he reached for you and held your wrist gently in his hand.
Looking over your shoulder, you made eye contact. "What are you doing, Kuroo?..."
"We need to talk." he gently spoke "It's been too many years."
"There's nothing to say about anything." you looked into his eyes "We both have our different lives, let's focus on that okay?"
"I don't want to walk away from you and regret it for the rest of my life again." Kuroo begged, "Please, give me a few minutes to talk with you...please."
Looking down at your watch, you saw you had some minutes to spare. "Okay..."
He let go of you, "Come on, I know where we should go." you followed him to the nearby bridge that was above an intersection along with shops down the street. You walked up the stairs and sat down on a bench that was in the middle of the two stairways.
It was awkward. As the seconds passed by, all you could think of were the things you wanted to say but felt afraid of saying it out loud. You were timid when it came to expressing how you felt since you were in high school. Yet when you met Kuroo that barrier was destroyed only for it to be rebuilt again a few years later.
"What did you need to tell me?" you asked, playing with your fingers.
"I'm sorry for how we ended things." your movement stopped "I thought back then that it was for the best. I didn't want to continue fighting every time with you. The amount of times we ended up apart became more frequent than the times we had ever spent together." His gazed was fixed on ground feeling too vulnerable to look at you "I didn't want to keep hurting you."
"I can't believe- why now?" you asked "Was that the reason you chose? You didn't want to stay and fixed things so you let me go?"
"We couldn't make things better and you know that y/n." he answered "Every time we tried it put distance between us more and more."
You closed your eyes trying to not let the tears fall "It's the fact that you lost hope in us that hurt Kuroo, not the breakup."
"It hurt me too..." he explained "But it hurt me more knowing you were suffering and not giving you the happiness that you deserved."
"I didn't care..." you sniffled "All I wanted was to be with you and solved it together. I kept on trying to find an answer as to what I did that was so wrong that made you leave me."
"What are you talking about-"
"You seriously don't remember?" you looked at him "The things you said to me that day... when I asked you why and all you said was because I didn't love you anymore, I don't want to stay by you. It's for the best Y/n go find your own life and forget about me."
He looked away, closing his eyes tightly. "I didn't mean to sound harsh..."
"But you did." you wiped away your tears "What hurt was the fact that you acted happy the last few days with me then suddenly... you ripped it off like a bandaid Kuroo..."
"I know..." he said "I know I fucked up- I kept thinking back every day after what happened."
You got up from the bench "Why did you pretend you were happy with me?"
"I wasn't pretending!" he exclaimed, getting up as well. "I was happy being with you."
"Could have fooled me... because knowing this now and you not remembering what you told me makes it harder to believe anything you say!"
"I need you. Trust me when I say that I still love you y/n." he stated.
"I-I can't..." you muttered, covering your face.
You were a sobbing mess, and it broke his heart that he was hurting you again when he vowed never to. Kuroo stepped forward slowly, trying to approach you.
"Please don't cry..." he said.
"I'm just tired of this... feeling this vulnerable and thinking about you," you admitted, "when I should focus on my future and not on the past..."
Kuroo stood in front of you, "Do you still love me?..." you didn't answer. He carefully took your hands into his own as he uncovered your face. "Do you still love me?..." he repeated himself.
His touch was arm, your head was dizzy. It's been so long since you were this close to him again. 'Did I still love him?' you thought, trying to figure out the answer on your own.
He gently wiped away your tears, "Because I haven't stopped Y/n... no matter where I'm going or who I'm with my mind goes back to you."
"Where was this 7 years ago?" you questioned "This love and worry you have about me? How you don't want to see me walk away from you again. Why did you show it too late to me? I wasted so much time wondering over someone who never once batted an eye to me when I saw you on campus those two years after our break up. I almost failed because my emotions were all over the place. If it hadn't been for the friends I had I wouldn't have moved on. Now you suddenly see me again one day and you confess you still love me? When you had chance after chance to tell me but chose not to." you clenched your jaw "You don't get to comeback and tell me you love me... it's not fair."
"I lived with the ache in my chest whenever I saw someone or something that reminded me of you. Out of all the y/n's in the world and each time someone said your name I turned around it hopes it was you but came empty every time it was a stranger." he breathed out trying to not break down in front of you but it became impossible. His voice cracked "I-I... still wish everyday that it had been you... y-you by my side a-and not someone else..."
"I wished we had met when we were older and wiser..." you whispered "Maybe then... this pain wouldn't exist within us."
He held your hand to his chest holding it tightly as he closed his eyes, trying to memorize your warmth. "We didn't know what to do... we were young and naive thinking love was such an easy thing to feel." he sniffled "It would be so easy... so damn e-easy... to say I'm sorry and start all over again. To go back to the days where were in l-love... without any problems..."
In all your years you had known Kuroo it was such a rare sight for him to cry and breakdown in front of you. After years, you were surprised to see he didn't feel shy or embarrassed of showing it to you again. It's like he had grown.
Gently you cupped his right cheek and he leaned into your touch. "I still do love you Kuroo..." you confessed "It scares me that I haven't been able to move on without you."
"I'm so sorry..." the pool of tears he held in his eyes were finally escaping "Maybe things would have worked o-out... if we had- no I had expressed my feelings earlier and told you how I felt from the beginning. If I had opened up myself up to you more and not runaway from the only person that had ever made me feel a whole. But I can't... I-I can't turn back time that was then and t-this is now..."
It was late. Yet hearing those words that you had dreamed for years to happen finally did. Life was definitely funny sometimes. One day you can keep convincing yourself you don't need that person that you're fine without them, then have it change with one interaction.
Smiling weakly you wiped away his tears. He smiled small feeling your thumb gently move against his cheek. "I can't believe I'm saying this but..." a chuckle escaped your lips "After all we've been through and still you make my heart beat like a teenager all over again."
"I would do anything to see you smile, Y/n." his eyes shined brightly as the sun's light reflected off his hazel orbs.
Your faces began to grow closer to one another. The space that was in between you two got shorter the longer you stared into each other's eyes.
"There's not anything else in this world that makes me happy as you do, y/n." he said.
Your foreheads gently rested against one another. His hands held your own tightly and brought them up to his lips. It made your stomach grow butterflies again.
Closing your eyes you focused on his touch not on the sounds of traffic. "I’d have my heart broken all over again if it meant that I could have those first six months with you."
He added "Those were the best months of my life."
Your phone then vibrated with messages coming in all at once. Kuroo freed one of your hands, you unlocked your device to see they were from h/n.
"Shoot..." you bit your lip.
"Is everything alright?" he asked.
"My...um boyfriend... is asking where I am..." you answered feeling conflicted as to what would be the best thing to do.
"You call him and reassure him you're okay." he said "If I was in his place I'd be worried too."
You were surprised by how mature he was, nodding you dialed his number. After a few seconds h/n picked up. Kuroo stood by your side and waited for you to finish.
"Y/n! Where are you I've been worried sick!" he exclaimed.
"I'm sorry... I saw a friend and they needed to talk to me. I didn't mean to make you worry." you explained.
He breathed out in relief knowing you were okay. "It's okay, I'm glad you're okay. Are you on your way back home or are you still with them?"
"I'm still with them I didn't realize it would take long. But I'll be going to the station soon to grab the last train home." you answered.
"Alright, are you sure you don't want me to go pick you up?" he asked "I don't want anything bad to happen to you."
"No don't worry I'll be home soon. I'll make sure to keep you posted okay?"
"Okay, please be careful. I love you." he said.
"I will, see you soon." you hung up then looked at him. "I should get going, Kuroo."
"I understand." he kissed your forehead softly "You don't owe me an explanation okay? Let's take it one step at a time. And if you still want to see me then I'll be here waiting for you. Like I should have done in the beginning."
Your heart swelled with joy that you wrapped your arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. He smiled softly hugging you back tightly, "I missed you so much." you spoke burying your face in his neck.
"I missed you too, Y/n." he rested his chin on top of your head "Can I take you home?"
"I'd like that."
It didn't matter how long it took, he wasn't going to mess this second chance he had with you. He would wait a year if he needed to to be alongside you again. You were his world.

part two | masterlist
Tumblr media
I sketched out some designs at my desk, ideas for some new Instagram and Twitter marketing CatCo we were planning to do. I was in charge of social media marketing at CatCo Worldwide, so things like this were routine at work. What wasn't routine was the cute blonde, Kara, AKA Cat Grant's assistant, approaching my desk with a chirpy smile on her lips.
"Hey, Y/N," she greeted, before setting down a coffee cup in front of me.
I smiled automatically, Kara's presence instantly affecting my mood in a positive way. I glanced at the cup and quirked an eyebrow.
"Hey, Kara. Is this for me?"
She pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose adorably. "I was picking up Miss Grant's order and I remembered you said you loved the chocolate orange hot chocolates Noonan's do. So, I got you one."
I felt my cheeks heat up. "Oh, wow, er, thank you. You didn't have to do that."
She shrugged, and I was sure she looked as flustered as I felt. "No biggie."
I took a sip of the hot chocolate and smiled at how good it was, but mostly because of who got it me.
"So, what are you doing?" she asked, walking around my desk and sitting at the edge. She glanced at my sketches and added, "Is that the new fashion post for our social media accounts? They look amazing!"
"Just some sketches, but eventually they will be," I said, before nodding. "And thanks. I just need the photos so I know what I'm working with. Gotta ask the new guy, James... you met him yet?"
Kara nodded. "Yeah, I just bumped into him earlier."
"Can you believe he knows Superman?" I asked with disbelief. "How awesome is that?"
She smiled with amusement. "Extremely awesome."
"Keira!"
Kara lost her smile when Miss Grant called for her, before looking to me apologetically. "I should–"
"It's cool," I said, nodding for her to leave before Miss Grant tracked her down. "Thanks again for the drink."
Kara flashed me a smile. "Anytime. See you later."
I watched her walk away, waving as she glanced over her shoulder. I found myself biting my lip to contain my own smile, feeling butterflies in my stomach.
Kara Danvers, assistant to Cat Grant.
Ever since she began working here, I found myself crushing on the blonde and her cute mannerisms. We were friends, occasionally hanging out outside of work and doing things together. But that's all it was, sadly. I knew she was friends with Winn – best friends, I think – and I also knew that the tech guy was practically in love with her. I didn't know him as well as I knew her, but I knew enough to not want to get in between the two of them. So, Kara Danvers remained a silly little crush.
I got back to my sketches, managing to draft up some mock-ups on Photoshop before my day ended. I was more tired than I thought that evening, ending up falling asleep earlier than usual. Which meant that I missed the biggest news in National City yet – a mystery woman saving a plane from crashing, possibly a new superhero.
I woke up the next morning to a million and one calls and texts from colleagues at CatCo, all expecting me to get on social media to post about this mystery woman. By the time I got to work that morning, I was caught up with everything and in awe at this new superhero we had. It was pretty darn awesome!
The amazement I felt however was short lived, as Cat was all over me when I got to the office, claiming I should have been on top of our social media coverage as soon as it happened. Apparently me falling asleep wasn't a valid enough point to miss it, so I was put to work instantly, working with the photography and marketing department to find some sort of coverage on this mystery hero.
As I was lining up some posts with the limited images available of this hero, I felt a presence stop by my desk and saw it was Kara.
"Morning," she greeted, before glancing at my computer. "Oh, so you heard?"
I chuckled. "Kind of hard not to. It's everywhere." I nodded to the many TVs around the office that were playing reruns of the news coverage from last night.
"Pretty cool, right?" she asked, a smile tugging at her lips.
"Very, but it also means I now have a lot of work to do, especially because I fell asleep when all of this went down," I said, jokingly. "Cat has been all over me about this all morning."
Kara laughed and it was literally the best thing I'd heard all day.
"So, I was actually hoping I could tell you something," she said, an excited smile on her face as she met my eyes.
I felt a little flustered under her gaze and found myself distracting myself with my computer screen momentarily.
"I actually have a lot of things to do right now,” I said regretfully. “Maybe later?”
Her smile faded as she nodded. "Right, no, yeah, that's totally fine. Sorry."
"No, no, don't apologise," I said instantly, feeling a little bad. "I just– if I don't get this done, Cat will kill me."
"I got it, you do this, it's cool," she said reassuringly, offering me a small smile.
"Sorry," I tried, a little sad that there was nothing I could do. I really needed to get this done, despite wanting to spend some more time with Kara.
"It's fine, good luck," she said, giving me a grin and thumbs up before leaving.
I sighed, before getting back to work. Unfortunately, it was a few hours before I could get away from my desk, and I managed to track down Kara at her own desk, remembering she wanted to tell me something.
"Hey," I said, earning her attention.
She looked up from her notebook, smiling when she saw me. "Hey, you manage to get that content done?"
"Just about," I said, before offering a small smile. "Sorry again for blowing you off."
She waved her hand dismissively. "It's fine, honestly."
"I'm free now though," I said optimistically. "Maybe we could grab an early lunch? You can talk to me then?"
Kara pushed a strand of hair behind her ear as she nodded slowly. "That sounds nice actually, yeah."
I felt a little relieved when she agreed. "Great. Well, I'll let you get your things and meet you by the elevator?"
She pursed her lips, suppressing a smile. "You got it."
We ended up getting lunch, as agreed, and it was nice to make it up to her. Though, I never really noticed that she never ended up telling me whatever it was that she wanted to tell me. I was so distracted by how smoothly our lunch was going that I forgot to ask her about it. Maybe if I'd asked, she might have told me the truth. Or she might have made something up and lied. I guess I would never know.
Did somebody say tiny umbrella drinks? #gottalovethetinyumbrellas #CatCoFoundation [image here]
I sent yet another tweet and picture out from CatCo's Twitter account, watching as it instantly got responses from everyone. I was at an event that Cat was throwing for all CatCo employees plus special guests. It was an event to raise money for Cat's foundation – a charity for children's hospitals in National City. My job was to live-tweet the heck out of the event, hoping to boost donations online.
It was a formal event, so I was comfortably dressed in some high-waisted pants and a silk blouse, it being my best attempt at 'formal' clothes.
The event wasn't too bad. There was free food and drinks, plus I got to hang out with some of my friends from work whilst doing the bare minimum. I just wasn't an evening person, I guess.
"Hey, stranger," a voice startled me, and I turned around, surprised to see Kara Danvers stood there.
I hadn't seen much of Kara in the past few months, despite working with her. She always seemed to be caught up with Winn, and she'd gotten quite close with the not-so-new guy, James Olsen. I wasn't stalking her or anything, but I began to notice when I would try to make plans with her like we used to – little things like grabbing coffee or going to watch a film after work – and she would decline or have plans already. Then I'd see her constantly being surrounded by Winn and James, so I figured she'd just made new friends.
"Kara," I breathed out, smiling as I took in her appearance. "Hey."
I hadn't seen her at all this evening and I was sure she just showed up because I definitely would have noticed how good she looked in that fitted red dress of hers.
"You look really nice," she said, looking me up and down before meeting my eyes.
"Thanks," I said, hoping my cheeks didn't look as warm as they felt. "So do you. You liking the event?"
Kara looked around, nodding. "It's beautiful."
"You did a good job," I said, giving her a knowing smile. "I know you planned it."
"This was all Cat, I just–"
"Kara, everybody knows you plan the events around here," I told her with a chuckle. "It's okay."
She smiled to herself, looking down. "Right." It went quiet for a moment before she looked up and said, "Do you want to dance?"
I was a little taken aback by her confidence, but nonetheless, I found myself nodding. She smiled as she held out her hand. I took it, feeling goosebumps from how soft her hands were.
She led me to the dance-floor, stopping and resting a hand on my waist, the other holding my hand. I nervously rested an arm on her shoulder as I focused on swaying to the music playing rather than stepping on her toes.
"I feel like I haven't seen you in a while," she said after a moment. I looked up and saw her blue eyes staring right through me.
"Well, we've both been busy," I attempted to give a reason.
She shook her head, smiling apologetically. "No, it's not that... it's my fault. I've been hanging out with James and Winn so much lately that I've been neglecting you."
I laughed a little awkwardly. "Kara, it's okay. You don't need to feel bad for having other friends. I mean, you don't have any obligations to me. They're your best friends. Of course you're gonna hang out with them."
She pursed her lips and I admittedly felt nervous as she stared at me, her expression unreadable. She was a little taller than me which didn't help with me trying to keep my emotions in check. She was extremely close to me as we swayed to the music and I could just about focus on it as she continued to stare at me.
"What if I want to have obligations to you?" she asked, and I almost thought she was joking until I realised that she wasn't.
I wanted to understand what she meant, but I didn't get to ask because she leaned forward and closed the gap between us with her lips. I was surprised at her boldness, pinning Kara for the shy type. Nonetheless, I returned the kiss, melting into her embrace and warmth.
We pulled apart soon enough, myself a little flustered from the kiss. My lips were still tingling as she met my eyes, a small smile tugging at her lips.
"I hope that was okay," she muttered.
I nodded slowly, still surprised. "Yeah, it was."
My stomach was doing somersaults as I mirrored her smile; the gala was merely a blur in the background as I realised Kara Danvers had just kissed me. I definitely wouldn't have thought she felt something for me other than friendship.
"I'm assuming you want this to go somewhere," I said, a little stupidly.
She laughed melodiously as she nodded, intertwining her fingers in mine. "That's the plan, yes. But actually, er..."
"Second thoughts already?" I joked, though inside I was genuinely believing she might be second-guessing her decision, judging from her sudden change of facial expression.
"No, no," she said, shaking her head. "It's just, I feel like we should talk first. I have to tell you something. Before this goes any further."
She sounded quite affected by whatever it was, so I nodded, losing my smile for a moment.
"Of course, you can tell me whatever you need to," I reassured her, giving her hand a little squeeze. "Do you want to talk now or after?"
She opened her mouth to reply, but tilted her head to the side as she grew distracted. I waited patiently, expecting her to snap back into reality, but she seemed caught up with something else.
"Kara? You okay?" I asked, growing a little concerned.
"What? Yeah, sorry," she said, shaking her head before meeting my eyes with apologetic ones. "I'm sorry, I have to go for a minute. I just realised I have to check on the desserts for the party."
"Oh, okay." I nodded, giving her a small smile. "You can tell me whatever it is afterwards then?"
She smiled, nodding. "Yeah. I'll be back after, I swear."
I believed her and watched as she let go of my hand, already in a rush to leave. I wondered what was so time-sensitive about desserts, but decided not to question it as I realised the very obvious and surprising fact that Kara liked me.
As she turned to leave, she quickly turned back to me and moved forward, pressing a haste kiss to my cheek. My face heated up as she flashed me a beautiful smile, before moving to leave.
Just danced with the most beautiful girl in the room #CatCoFoundation
I looked up and saw Kara by the door, about to leave, but she stopped when her phone vibrated. After glancing at the screen, she paused and a wide smile graced her lips. Her eyes lifted and she gave me a knowing look before disappearing. I found myself smiling like an idiot the rest of the night.
I guess I should have realised, once again, that Kara never ended up telling me whatever it was that she wanted to tell me. I was so caught up in the fact that she returned my feelings that I never remembered to ask her what it was that she wanted to say. Maybe if I'd remembered, things would have ended up a little differently.
Kara and I went on some dates, our relationship blossoming naturally. It was the best thing to happen to me at the time – finding someone who I thought truly understood me, and vice versa. We had inside jokes, an 'our song', a favourite restaurant we frequented; we were happy and it was amazing. I was really falling for her. I thought she was perfect. Nothing could change that, I thought. She was everything I wanted.
"What are you thinking about in that pretty little head of yours?" Kara asked, tilting her head to look at me.
It was moments like this when I was in awe of her beauty, inside and out. She was comfortable, with her hair tied in a loose ponytail and her face makeup-free. Her glasses were balanced on her nose as she stared at me with an easygoing smile and sparkling eyes. I felt a sudden overwhelming flood of love for her as she waited for me to reply.
"I'm in love with you," I blurted out uncontrollably.
She raised her eyebrows slightly, mouth agape as she realised what I said.
"I'm sorry," I said, shaking my head. "That was random. And weird. Too soon, right? I freaked you out. I'm sorry."
Kara blinked several times, straightening up as she shook her head. "No, it's not, it's..." I watched her with anticipation, as she found her words. "It's fine. It's... I feel the same way."
It was my turn to be surprised now. I raised my eyebrows, a smile forming on my lips. "You do?"
Kara pursed her lips, eyes flickering up to meet mine. "Yeah."
I breathed out. "I'm really happy to hear that, especially because I thought I freaked you out, but like, I feel like something is bothering you, Kara."
Resting a hand on hers, I squeezed it gently. She offered me a small, troubled smile and I wondered what was occupying her thoughts.
"I trust you," she said gently. "I do. I love you. And I... I want you to know that I think what we have is amazing. I've never been happier."
"This sounds like a breakup," I joked, chuckling nervously. She wouldn't break up with me right after saying 'I love you', right?
"No, no, it's not!" she reassured immediately, taking any doubt from my mind. She leaned forward and cupped my cheek gently. "I'm not breaking up with you, silly."
"Good to know," I said playfully, resting my hand on hers and moving it to my lips, kissing it softly. "What is it though? What's on your mind? You can tell me anything you know."
She nodded. "I know... I can. I will. Now."
I stayed quiet, watching as she had some inner conflict going on. What was bothering her so much?
"I want to say that I–"
But she was cut off by her phone ringing. She rolled her eyes and I offered her an approving smile as she reached to answer it.
"Alex, hey, what's up?"
I sat back, keeping ahold of Kara's hand as she listened to Alex on the phone.
"Are you sure?" Kara said, concern in her voice.
I wondered what was going on, as the blonde was scrunching her brows together with worry. Her hand slipped from mine as she stood up, pacing.
"Okay, I'll be there now," she finished, before hanging up.
"Hey, that sounded serious, is everything okay?" I asked, standing up, too.
Kara nodded, already in the process of grabbing her things. "Yeah, sorry, it's just some family stuff with Alex. I should get going and help her out." She stopped moving and turned to face me, a distracted frown on her face. "I'm sorry. I know we were supposed to spend the evening together and I wanted to tell you something, but–"
"It's fine, Kara, you can just tell me another time," I cut her off, moving forward and rubbing her arm gently. "I hope everything is okay with Alex. I'll just see you at work tomorrow, yeah?"
Kara smiled tightly, nodding. "You're too understanding. It's annoyingly admirable."
I chuckled, stepping forward and pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. She had a few inches on me, so I had to step on my tip toes to reach, but seeing the little smile appear on her lips when I did made it worth it.
"Don't get stressed about whatever it is you wanna tell me," I added, meeting her eyes. "I'm sure it'll be fine. I love you and I'm really lucky to have you in my life. I don't think anything will ruin that. Just... remember that, okay?"
Kara nodded, her eyes flickering to the floor. "Thank you, Y/N."
"I'll leave you to it," I said, moving away to grab my coat and put on my shoes. "Good luck with whatever is up, and see you tomorrow."
As I was about to leave, her voice called out, "I love you, too."
I smiled widely at her before leaving, feeling lightweight because of all the love that was bubbling around inside of me. Once again, Kara managed to distract me from the fact that she had something big to tell me, as when I followed up the next day, she assured me that she just wanted me to know that she sometimes moved too fast in relationships and she didn't want me to feel like I was being rushed.
I believed her, blinded by what I thought was my happy ending, and that was that.

Falling in Love with a Single Mom
Sugawara x fem!Reader | Kenma x fem!Reader
[ Headcanons/MiniFic ]
Request: hi!! i absolutely loved your single mum hc and please could you write the same but with sugawara and kenma? thank you so much- you’re doing great!!! — anonymous
a/n: sorry it took so long!! wasn't feeling motivated lately and didn't want to put out half-assed stuff :(( I HOPE U LIKE THIS ANON!!!!!
Tumblr media
❀ suga sat in front of the class, observing his class of 4 year-olds with a gentle smile on his face.
❀ they were all minding their own, occasionally calling out for their teacher when they were short on glue and fancy stickers, checking up on their tablemates to compare their crafts
❀ one particular student catches his eye as the child opted to lay on his arms folded on top of his desk, looking sullen, instead of working on the given task; a father’s day card
“hey, is everything all right? are you not feeling well?”, his voice was soft as he approached the boy and his eyes grew softer when the he shook his head and proceeded to bury his face between his arms.
“why aren’t you making a card, then? look, all your friends are doing one for their dads.”
“i don’t even have a dad to give it to, why would i even make one.”
suga was taken aback by the young one’s words but stood his ground
“give it to me then, i’ll be your substitute dad”, he said with a gentle hand on the boy’s back, smiling even wider when the boy looked at him with a giddy smile
“really?”
❀ the child then proceeded to work on a card; enumerating all the nice things he likes about his teacher-turned-substitute-dad
❀ after adding the final sprinkle of glitter, he excitedly went to show his finished product
❀ suga scanned his work, his smile never leaving his face but the clumsily written bit at the end left his heart soft with sympathy for the little boy
❀ “i wish suga-san really was my dad, we would have lots of fun playing at the park and mama won’t be too lonely anymore!”
❀ when the day came to a wrap, he found himself being dragged through the halls, your child pulling him by the sleeve
"mama said she'll be picking me up today!"
he laughed nervously but continued to match the boy's little steps, "that's great! but why do i have to come with?"
"i want you to meet mama! i bet you'll like her, she's really nice, her food is amazing!! and she's the preeeeeettiest girl ever"
❀ and oh boy was he right
❀ suga couldn't contain the the wild blush that found it's way to his face, tinting his cheeks and the tip of his ears
❀ he hasn't felt this flustered since kiyoko held his hands
❀ he watched the boy let go of his sleeve to run to you, meeting him with a sweet smile
"mama! suga-san said he'd be my dad so i can have someone to give my dad's day card to!!"
you looked shocked. then confused. and then just plainly amused.
"baby, i told you to call your teachers sensei, haven't i?"
"but if he's my dad now should i still be calling him sensei?"
"you'd only cause trouble, baby. besides, i don't think he wants to be a full-time dad just yet, isn't that right sensei?"
you shot him an apologetic smile and he glance at the boy whose eyes are already brimming with tears
"i-i wouldn't mind at all!", he blurted out before he could even stop himself
his face flushed an even deeper shade of red which you found endearingly cute, "I MEAN ONLY IF YOU WANTED TO. IF HE! if he.. wanted to, i mean. yes."
❀ and that is how he found himself sat in your living room floor two weeks later, playing legos with your son
❀ he knew he couldn't be with you just yet, not when he still has your son as his student
❀ but when he glances at you busily preparing food in the kitchen and at the little boy on the floor trying to make turtles out of legos, he knew he'd be able to wait for a bit more.
Tumblr media
❀ you and kenma lived in the same apartment complex, on the same floor, separated by a single wall
❀ being a new mom living alone with her 3-month old child wasn't easy
❀ sleepless nights, panicked grocery runs, and a shit ton of noise complaints from your neighbor
❀ noise complaints in the form of small pieces of paper slipped through the crack of your door
❀ "pls quiet down, trying to sleep. ty"
❀ but it was one evening when kenma had a scheduled stream and your baby's been inconsolable for the last 45 minutes, her cries seeping through the thin walls and bouncing across kenma's flat that he decided to come over yours
he knocked at your door, annoyance clearly shown in the way his eyebrows are knitted in a frown
"can you please do quiet down a bit? i'm trying to stream and the mic's picking up your baby's... crying"
he couldn't help but notice your disheveled look; wrinkled shirt, eyebags and tear-stained cheeks while you held your child, rubbing circles on her back in an attempt to calm her down.
"i'm very very sorry, she hasn't been feeling well. i'm sorry for the trouble, i really am"
he couldn't possibly be mad at you still, he figured you had it really tough and kenma's not the type to deliberately make you suffer even more
with a sigh and a quiet, "it's fine, i guess", he went back to his unit, deciding to cancel the stream just this once
❀ that evening, kenma laid on his bed thinking about you, or your situation rather.
❀ you woke up the next morning with a bag of groceries hanging on your doorknob
❀ it was full of cupped ramen, gatorade, a couple jars of baby food and a note in the same neat handwriting
❀ "i'll be next door if u need any help"
❀ you continued finding random treats at your doorstep with little notes for a few more weeks
"i ordered too much, u can have it."
"sponsor sent some stuff i didn't need."
"friend brought food, couldn't finish it all."
❀ you find it sweet but couldn't help feeling guilty having to bother your quiet neighbor like this
❀ so you decided to post your own little note on your door, hoping he'd find it
❀ "what food do u like?"
❀ the same hour you put it up, you heard shuffling outside your door
❀ and as expected there was another bag of instant ramen with your note scribbled with his reply
❀ "apple pie"
❀ a week passed with radio silence between you two, even your baby has been cooperative enough in your mission of trying to make apple pie
❀ soon you found yourself in front of the door right beside yours, freshly baked apple pie in your mitten-clad hands and your daughter blubbering in her carrier on your back
you knocked.
"uhm hi, i'm y/n. i made some apple pie, figured you wanna share."
kenma's eyes were wide and his cheeks dusted pink the same shade of yours.
he ushered you inside and prepared two plates and forks for the both of you.
"thanks for the stuff" was your meek attempt at breaking the silence.
"it's nothing really"
you noticed him silently looking at your daughter whose hands found their way into her mouth
carefully placing her from your lap to kenma's you giggled as panic flashed in his eyes.
he held her nonetheless, smiling softly as she reached out a slobbered hand to his cheeks and letting out curious coos
❀ you both soon found comfort in each other's homes, coming and going as you both shared takeout, home-cooked meals and stories in between
❀ kenma's fondess for your child grew apparent in the way he'd let her crawl all over him and tug at his hair and the way he held her up just to hear her giggles and the way you'd find him passed out on your couch with your baby on his chest and a protective arm around her
❀ what wasn't obvious to you was the way he would stare at you lovingly as you tucked your daughter to sleep in her crib every afternoon, or the way his little notes turned to subtle love confessions
❀ or the way he's been building up the courage in asking you to move in to a new house together and be a real family.

Little Witch - Part 14
The Darkling x Reader
You felt fine after dinner, the food quickly replenishing your dwindled physique, but you didn't go back to work. You took Aleksander's advice and took the rest of the day to rest and take your mind off the countless tasks you had. There was one thing you needed to do though and that was thank Zoya for today.
She didn't have to do any of it, in fact, you believed she hated you from the minute you interrupted Aleksander's meeting. You were told by a servant she was out training Inferni's and so you made your way down to the Etherialki training grounds. She stood there, the image of a goddess. Her dark hair fell down her blue kefta in defined curls, collecting small snowflakes.
There was no indication she'd been involved in a deadly attack a mere 4 hours ago. Saints, I think I have a crush on Zoya. Nevertheless, you walked over to her, calling out her name to grab her attention.
'Deputy, how are you feeling?' She looked worried yet relieved to see you standing in front of her on both of your legs.
'Y/N will do Zoya.'
'Alright then'
'Thank you for today. I don't know what came over me.'
'We all have our moments. Some of us just hide them better' You couldn't tell whether that was a dig at you or not.
'You're an amazing soldier Zoya. I'm very impressed'
'Well I didn't just sleep my way to the top if that's what you're implying.' She turned her addicting gaze away from you, studying the young Infernis.
'I beg your pardon?' You were taken aback.
'How's your leg?' She tried to change the topic but you weren't ready to.
'What do you mean Zoya, spit it out.'
'You know what I mean Y/N.' Why was she avoiding the conversation if she brought it up in the first place?
'Are you and Gener-' Is this another thing he had lied to me about? You vaguely remember thinking the two had been involved when you seen them in the same room but it passed quickly, surely he would have told you, especially if it was with one of his most trusted Grisha? The thought was another painful blow to your gut. They just kept on coming. You couldn't finish your sentence for she already answered it.
'No.'
Tumblr media
'Zoya'
'Not anymore... Alina is here now' The strong feisty woman was gone now, in her place was a hurt and rejected woman. You were old enough to see it, you had been her before, hell you were her now. You looked at her striking beauty, thought about her incredible skills, and then stupidly compared yourself to her. If he rejected her, you're next. Your silence must have comforted her more than words could, for she shrugged her shoulders and said
'He keeps saying she's his equal, the day to his night' His equal. That's what Alina said.
'You don't need anyone Zoya. I can promise you you'll amount to great things on your own.' Despite the hurt you felt, you focused on her.
'Well as of right now I'm stuck to skiff trips and when you request me' You eyed her inquisitively 'Our dear General's doings.' she admitted.
'What gave you such an honor' you teased.
'I got into a riff with the precious Sun-Summoner after she vexed me.' She shut her eyes tightly as if trying to forget the memory.
'She doesn't strike me as the vexing type-' Your conversation was quickly interrupted when an Inferni accidentally set alight more than just the mannequin and Zoya scrambled to put it out, scolding the boy in the process.
'I'll leave you to it then'
You walked away, hurt and on the verge of tears. You needed to speak to Aleksander, you were sick of him lying to you but you were even more tired of feeling that severe urge to cry every time you thought about him. You came here to do your job and to show everyone you had your powers under control, yet all you've done so far is the opposite. Saints be damned you would walk away from your position because of a complicated relationship, you were better than that. But you also recognized that if you confronted Aleksander about all of this, he would either have to tell you about his plans for Alina or lie again, and you knew he would lie. It was a vicious cycle, one that wouldn't end. It was heartbreaking knowing that the man who claimed to never stop loving you could lie to you so easily.
You were right to question your trust in him, he never gave you a reason not to.
***
He was sitting at his desk, back turned towards you. You hesitated, the thought of running out the door and locking yourself in your room sounding pretty attractive. Maybe a good cry will fix this.
'Y/N I thought I told you to rest' He spoke calmly, his hand never dropping the pen. You shut the doors, not wanting the guards outside to hear what you were about to say. This made him turn around.
'We need to talk'
He dropped the pen and paper and stood up, indicating he was all ears. You glued your eyes to his knowing your vulnerability peeked through but you didn't care to hide it.
'What are your plans for me, Aleksander?'
He cocked his head to the side, confused. 'What?'
'Why keep me around when Alina is here?'
You were never the jealous kind, but you came to realize this wasn't jealousy. It was disappointment and aching after being away from him for almost a century. You had built up this life in your head, one where everything was perfect and Aleksander hadn't changed but you raised the bar too high. The bad parts of Aleksander faded away with each year and the best parts of him enhanced in your mind. You had forgotten what he was truly like, plus coming to terms with the fact that he lived a seemingly happy life while you were gone stung a bit too. With each day, the disappointment turned into hurt and anger.
'Y/N I already told you, I have a plan.'
'So you expect me to watch you and Alina fawn over each other while I stay in the shadows being a dutiful Second in Command? I may be loyal but I'm not going to blindly follow along Aleksander, not anymore.' It's making me miserable.
His hands reached out for you but you moved away. 'You know I love you Y/N' He said as if the foolish statement would make your worries and anger melt away.
Tumblr media
'Then act like it'
'It's not that simple.'
'It never is, is it?' You bitterly laughed. What's the point of loving somebody if you're not willing to do everything to make them stop hurting?
'Why won't you tell me?' Your voice was a whisper he barely registered. 'Do you not trust me? Cause I'll admit it right now, I may love you, but I don't trust you Aleksander.'
Your admission hit him like a pile of bricks. He was brought back to when you first met, your shaking body radiating hostility as you rode in the carriage with him. He tried to assure you you were safe, you were one of his Grisha now, but you were having none of it. You didn't trust anybody for months after you arrived in the Little Palace, especially him and right now, it was all back to square one.
'Have I really given you that many reasons to not trust me?' It had been so long since he had somebody to care for and love that he forgot how to act around you. Perhaps he was back to square one too.
'Yes. Your sly comments about killing the King and finding the stag, your relationship with Alina, even with Zoya- Aleksander you're lying to me every day and you think I'll still be compliant. I'm not the same Y/N you remember.'
'You know what I want Y/N. You've always known'
'I do, but I need to know how you're going to do it all. How can I be supportive when I don't know what the hell is going on around me. A goodnight kiss every now and then won't fix this if you're doing the same to somebody else'
'Is this what this is? Your way of saying I'm fucking my Sun-Summoner on the side?'
'I never said that. All I wanted to know was why I'm not in on the plan that's supposed to give us more power. Is it because I'm a loose cannon, are you scared of what I'll do if I won't agree with you?'
You were sure of one thing; while you were gone nobody dared to disagree with the Darkling and he had grown to get used to it. Power corrupts, resistance humbles.
Somehow you still held your composure, albeit it was difficult. Aleksander however, was losing his temperate demeanor. He was pacing the lengths of the room and his hand had brushed through his hair countless times, the image of someone who was backed into a corner they couldn't get out of.
'I haven't told you because I don't want you to get burned. If it goes wrong it would be good to have some of us not hanged for treason would it not?' Bullshit. He must've forgotten you had the power of a heartrenderer. Aleksander was lying right through his teeth.
'You and I both know that's not true. If history is any indication then they'll turn on all Grisha.'
'And you'll be here to make sure they don't.' He tried to reason but you let out a loud laugh.
'Up until 2 weeks ago you didn't even consider giving me my old post back, do you really expect me to believe you changed your strategy in a matter of days?'
He stayed silent and settled against his desk. His crossed arms showed he was in no mood to discuss any further but you weren't done. He was going to tell you everything whether he liked it or not. You were sick of being kept in the dark. You had your title of Deputy back now, yet you still had no idea what truly went on and had no real sway against the top-ranking Grisha who no doubt were in on the plans. Power corrupts, resistance humbles, and you were done being humbled.
'Aleksander don't make me force it out of you' As soon as the words left your mouth you tried to find some part of you that regretted them but came up empty-handed.
His head whipped around with whiplash speed. You could see the internal battle going on behind his eyes of whether you would actually make do on your threat. You didn't know whether it was empty or whether you actually would do it but it was tempting.
'You said you changed, but I don't think you did' He retorted, eyeing you up and down with a look of displeasure. The situation was a shift from the usual, this time he was the one losing control and spiraling whereas you were the perfect example of a calm before the storm. The Little Witch he had grown to love and worship.
'I'm stronger, I can be stronger. I am limitless' You prided yourself on the restraint you'd shown thus far. You were in a palace full of Grisha, of Healers, a Tailor, a Sun-Summoner yet you didn't make any moves to take anything. The old Y/N wouldn't hesitate to take what wasn't hers. Maybe that's why you would burn out, lose as you gained. This time you knew how to do it properly, how to be an Elemental who yielded it all.
'Your quench for power is contending mine, Sweet Y/N.' For the second time in your life, you saw fear in Aleksander's eyes. He always had a feeling you yearned to have a stronger grasp of the Second-Army and for so long, even now, you tried to lie to yourself and deny it. But deep down some voices always whispered 'it's only right to have a leader who represents them all'.
'Wrong. I already have it, I just need to use it.' You raised your hands slowly, showing him you meant what you said. I'm really doing this. Your heart dropped when his raised too. He's willing to hurt me to protect his lies.
'There's no going back from this' You felt weirdly ready. Although you had never used your Grisha powers against Aleksander in a fight, you had a hefty slice of hope in you that you could overpower him. You had what he had and more.
'Y/N stop this.'
'Why? So that you'll lie to me again? Make me the other woman? It's inevitable that it comes to this' Your heart picked up in speed as your breathing became rapid. The influx of power at your fingertips itched to get out and make itself useful and containing it was painful.
Shadows pooled on the ground and around your feet yet you didn't know who they belonged to. Technically they're all his, I just know how to control them.
Panic shot through you as you felt a tendril of the black nothingness grasp around your wrist. No. You let yourself go, snapping the shackle and mirroring it on him. He had never experienced cruelty at the hands of his own power until now and was completely powerless as the black restraints rendered him useless. You concentrated on his pulse, soothing it to its normal rate then into a slow hum, relaxing his mind. This all felt so wrong yet so right.
'I'm feeling merciful today. When you feel up to it, tell me everything, or else I promise I won't hesitate Aleksander. We're the same in that manner.'
You watched as he gathered himself, anger rising onto his face. His moves were rigid and stiff despite your previous soothing.
'Time is ticking' Before he could say another word, you left the defeated Darkling, instilled with a sudden sense of pride.

“Watcha' doin', kid?”
You can't help but jump slightly on your seat when your father's high-pitched voice interrupts your concentration, not expecting a visit from him in the Chicago Medical library. With a hand on your chest trying to calm yourself, you turn at him, frowning somewhat upset. He sits on the nearest chair shrugging his shoulders and drawing a guilty grimace because of the scare.
“Something happened? Is everyone okay?” You ask confused, lowering the screen of your laptop, until you notice the plastic bag hanging from his right hand.
“This is what you do now, uh? Lie to me? To your dad?”
“I didn't li—”.
“Not again, kiddo. Maggie called me. She said everything you ate today was two bags of chips and a chocolate bar!” Shaking his head as he snorts and rubs the bridge of his nose, your father places the bag on an empty space over the desk. “I understand you have too much to study, that you're on the final exams period, but… how are you gonna be a good doctor, if you don't know the importance of food?”
“Dad, I really have zero time to lose it in the cafeteria or cooking”.
“Mom can cook for you! I can do it too! I can send the candidate with what we prepare in the firehouse, or anything with Uber eats! You have no excuses”.
As your father points out every option trying to not raise his tone of voice, you can feel the bothering growing inside him. You can't be contrary to what he's saying because he's right; you have been so focused on your exams that you haven't taken care of what you eat. You understand he is worried for you, that's why you don't say a single word when he puts your laptop and notes away to empty the bag on the desk. A tupper with pasta and chicken salad, a banana, an energy bar with chocolate chips, a small bag of almonds, and an orange juice.
Even if you wouldn't be hungry, you would be seeing this dinner right in front of your eyes. You can't hide the adoring grim that, inevitably, is drawn in your face. Watching him opening the container and spearing some pasta with a fork, you tilt your head with curiosity.
“I'm not leaving till you eat it all. So… do it by yourself or I'll treat you like the kid you are still”.
It doesn't matter how old you are, nor if you don't live in his house anymore, nor if you are an independent woman; you will be his little girl forever. He can't be a day without hearing your voice, without checking if you need something, without seeing you. Parents don't have a favorite child, but you are his. Every time you remember how much he cried when you told him about renting a flat with your best friend, you cry too.
Without a fuss, you grab the fork to bring it to your mouth and start eating. And as you are finishing the dish he has prepared for you, your father looks more relaxed and less preoccupied. He also looks satisfied because he's aware of the amazing cooker he is and how much you enjoy it. Because, yes, it's a pasta salad; but you need to find the perfect boiling time and obtain the perfect texture. He also knows how you like chicken, roast in its juice, and seasoned with a little rosemary. Then, he mixed both ingredients with tomato diced, corn, and some olive oil.
“Thank you, dad”. You sigh feeling your stomach full to the limits, cleaning your lips with a napkin. “I… really needed it”.
“Bet you study better now”.
“I'm sure”.
“Okay, gotta go back to the firehouse. I'll call you in a few hours to don't fall asleep and be on time for your exam”. Leaning on his chair, your father places a hand on your neck to leave a kiss on your forehead.
“I love you, dad”.
“And I love you, my little girl. I know sometimes I worry too much, but it's only because I want the best for you”.
“I know… I'd never change that from you”.
You watch him leaving the library, taking a sip from the juice he has prepared for you before continuing studying. Without any doubt, your father is the best in the world.

Capture - Grayson Dolan [10/-]
summary: memories.
warnings: fluff, angst, & a little bit of swearing
a/n: i really liked writing this part, no matter how long it took me.. haha..
tag(s): @dearestbailey !
Tumblr media
note: for purposes of respect, his father’s name is Brutus Dolan.
"Please be careful, your friends are pretty reckless. Especially at night, Grayson." Y/N warned with a worried glint in her eyes, a sore, unwanted feeling settling in the lowest part of her stomach.
Wrapping his muscled arms around her, he reassured her with a soft hum that vibrated against her neck. "I'll make sure they're careful, sweetheart." He tightened the embrace, like he was holding on for the very last time— in which he would..
And she returned it just as taut, as though she could foresee the unforgivable future..
"Y/N?" His mellowed voice shook the air around him as he questioned her name, withholding the tears that would soon fall the moment he left her arms.
"Yes, Grayson?" She held onto his name, letting her tongue slide over it for the millionth time. It'd never get old, the way his name made her heart flutter and her head spin.
"You know that I love you.." He took a large breath in, exhaling slowly through his nose, "And I want you in my future, for the rest of my life, however long forever lasts." His cheeks warmed as his eyes filled to the brim with the pain and acknowledgement of the near future.
"Just stay with me tonight, I'm sure your friends won't mind." Y/N could feel the doubt and sadness that washed over his tanned skin, and it made her heart sink. She wasn't sure what it all was, but this goodbye felt different.
"I'm sorry, Y/N." He withdrew his firm grasp of her, settling his eyes on her own saddened ones. She suspected something, he could tell, but she would have no idea of what is to come in the later hours of this very night.
He slipped his calloused hands around her cheeks, faintly drawing patterns with his thumb as he took in her face for what could be the final glimpse. And before he could control himself, he rested his lips against hers in a rhythmic beat, holding onto the lasting feeling of her lips on his.
So surreal.
"I love you too." Her words boomed in his ears and made his heart pump ten times faster, after breaking away from each other's warmth.
Grayson let her words sink in through his ears and blend into his blood, caging her voice in his head for the rest of eternity.
He took a couple steps back, sparing one more glance before brushing his fingertips against the door handle, leaving with a quick huff and slam of the door.
If he wouldn't of left then, he would've never been able to leave ever.
Tears began to trickle down his face, staining his cheeks red as the wind whipped against his face and his choked-up sobs closed his throat.
Y/N didn't shed a tear, she had an eerie feeling, but she couldn't bare the thought of a life without him— so she didn't think of it at all.
-
"That's impossible.." Your voice gloomed as your brows furrowed into a dark mix of confusion and surprise, bringing that inordinate sense of tears filling your eyes.
You wouldn't cry, not in front of him.
You aimlessly searched the room with your wandering pupils, anything to stray away from meeting his mournful gaze. "He died ten years ago, in a crash.." Those very words made your stomach churn and uproar with anger and hurt. An unexpected sob rushed its way through your mouth and broke the barricade of tears that filled your eyes, short hiccups following in suit.
"There's a lot of explaining to do, I know, but please trust me—"
"You expect me to trust you?" Anger now rushed through your burning veins, your stained cheeks becoming a fiery red. The overflowing amount of tears that seeped from your eyes had rolled all the way down your chin and neck, the fabric of your shirt absorbing the warm liquid.
"No Y/N, I don't." He began with his jaw clenched, frustration beaming from his countenance, "But please let me explain myself, I beg you." His hand slid its way around yours, but you declined his warmth and drew your hand away.
You didn't respond right away, although the desperation had clouded your head and you took a seat. "What's his favorite color?"
"Green."
"Brothers name."
"Ethan."
"Sister's na—"
"Cam."
"Favorite food."
"Pancakes." He smiled.
"Birthday."
"December 16, 1999."
"How old are you?"
"Twenty-four."
"Fuck you." You oh-so-softly smiled, your stomach fluttering. You were convinced, surprisingly easy, but you couldn't help the familiarity of his face and body, though there were a lot of differences as well...
The two of you stood in silence for what could possibly be forever. You wiped the drying tears from your cheeks, sniffling the remnants of your emotional state away.
"Would you like to talk in the garden?" He questions, breaking the pause and raising his arm just enough for your own to hook around it, a pleading smile curving his lips.
Oh, how you wanted to giggle and wear a cheesy grin like you would've done all those years ago, but everything has changed. You've grown up, matured from teenager to adult, dealt with the side effects of losing a loved one at such a young age.
It wasn't easy after he left.
"I guess.." You answered, crossing your arms over your chest. You didn't want to give him the satisfaction of your skin on his, something he's taken for granted.
Saddened, he lets his arm fall back to his side. "I forgot how stubborn you were." He chuckled, motioning you to follow as he began a walk in an uncertain direction.
"You've forgotten a lot of things.." You murmured, sighing as you begrudgingly trail after him.
It wasn't too long of a trail to get to what you assumed to be the backyard of such an estate, which of course had an utterly beautiful and blooming garden. The both of you were stood on the cement patio, halfway dry and wet from all the rain, you had noticed.
"Here." He handed you a pair of bright red rain boots, eerily the correct size. He had his own, purple rubber covering almost up to his knees as a plasticy yellow coat hung on his shoulders. It was a humorous sight, such an intimidating man looking like an eight year-old excited to play in the mud.
Child at heart, huh.
He helped you into a smaller coat like his, making it difficult to hold back an awful grin. You didn't share any words as the two of you began the path that led to the garden of sorts. There seemed to be two sides; one for vegetables and one for all the colorful flowers.
"It wasn't my choice, y'know.." He spoke aloud, walking side-by-side with you down an aisle of vibrant purple and blue tulips. You hummed in question, traveling your fingers softly over the delicate petals of a certain petunia, a rosy pink one that faded into white.
"To leave you that night, unknowingly saying goodbye for the last time. I didn't want to do it."
"Then why did you." It was more of a demand from your lips than a question.
"My father needed me." He seethed, an anger arising in his tone at the remembrance.
"I needed you." You stated under your breath, sucking in a large breath. "Who were all those men in that room the other day?" You questioned, changing the subject to ease his frustration.
"My men, and I'm sorry abo—"
"No you're not, you enjoyed that." You knew he would try to apologize for embarrassing you in front of a crowd, but does he really think you're that innocent to believe him? Not anymore, now.
He kept silent, although a small smirk crept on his lips. "Explain who your "Men" are." You had had enough of all the questions in your head, and now seems like the perfect time to discuss them, finally get some answers for once.
"They work for me and my business. It was my father's before mine and Ethan's." His low voice echoed outside, bouncing against all the trees and wildlife.
"How's Ethan?" You pondered, slightly wondering if she's seen him at all.
"He's doing fine, a ladies man from what the boys say." He chuckles, sticking his hands in his pockets. "We haven't been talking much lately, just business inquiries and such. He misses you, a lot."
"I miss him too, and Cam." You reminisce on all those old memories, smiling to yourself. "How's your mother? The last time I talked to her was graduation." You furrow your brows, sorrowful that you hadn't kept in touch with such a kind women.
"She's as good as ever, still compares everyone to you." He smiles too, showing those pearly whites that you were so used to.
"Grayson?" The mention of his name on your tongue gave him shuttering goosebumps, something he didn't think he'd ever hear again.
"Yes, Y/N." The two of you completely stopped to face each other, his brows crossed and your eyes full of question.
"Tell me what happened.. that night, when you left me.."
-
Grayson slammed his fists against the steering wheel, on the brink of screaming and cursing the world for its cruelness as tears fell rapidly. Eternal hatred filled his lungs, and the air around him poisoned all the happiness he had ever had a grasp of.
And it was his fault.
Brutus, his father, whose heart was made of stone and his mind of brick, took away the only thing that kept him sane in such a sickening world.
Y/N.
“You have no say in this, son. You knew this day would arrive, and now it has.” Brutus’s cold stare burned into Grayson’s eyes, unaffected by his own child’s mourning.
Grayson didn’t fight back, he hardly moved from his seat that was set in front of his father’s large, stained desk. His entire body hurt; first beginning from his heart, down his legs, up his neck, and finally pooling within his eyes.
“You have one final goodbye with her. Follow my instructions, Grayson, and you’ll thank yourself later on.” Brutus stood, barely acknowledging the sorrowful man hung low in his chair.
“I’ll never forgive myself.” He hoarsely whispered to himself, straining the sobs away— lost within himself.
His heart shattered as he followed through with his father’s word; a faked death alongside his brother.
to be continued...

"Fuck- She's losing too much blood, Boss, she's not gonna make it!"
"No, no. She's going to make it- I'll make sure of it. Stay alive!"
Your vision was dark and blurry- you couldn't quite see anything. You could only make out a few silhouettes hovering above you, each one rushing around and yelling frantically. You couldn't count how many were there. Your vision kept doubling and it was hard to discern one person from three. Focusing just caused things to get worse.
"Someone put pressure on the damn wound! She certainly won't make it if you all keep messing around."
It was only now that you noticed a sharp pain radiating from your chest, right below your ribs. You gasped loudly and coughed. It hurt worse than the throbbing that already coursed through your head. Your body burned.
Trying to look down, you saw a rag soaked in blood. Hands with bright nails pressed down on your wound to slow the flow, but it didn't seem to be helping. You started feeling dizzy and laid back again, clenching your eyes tight as nausea engulfed you.
"No, keep your eyes open, Y/N, dammit! Wake up!"
Slowly, the pain began fading, as did your view of the people above you and their voices. You could still barely hear the voice crying, sobbing out your name. Whoever they were, they were crushed.
"Wake up!"
Was that voice finally fading away too?
"Wake up!"
No- it was getting louder.
"Wake up!"
"Ellie, what the fuck do you want?" You groaned, rolling over on your bed.
Your roommate bounced on her knees, making your bed creak loudly. "What do you mean? It's like 10am, your class is at 11. Don’t talk to me with that tone of voice."
"Fuck me."
"Absolutely not, baby." Ellie smacked a pillow beside you and got up. "Get ready!" She went to her own room, leaving you to your own devices.
When you applied for an apartment roommate, Ellie was certainly not the one you were expecting. You would've preferred a chill, laid-back, person. Instead, Eleonora Yumizuru walked into your life (and apartment) and practically made herself at home. She didn't judge you from transferring so far away from your old home for your last year of college, claiming that "home roots don't mean shit when it comes to making it in the real world".
She had the right to say such a thing, having moved to Fodlan from another country in her youth. She was able to understand the occasional homesickness and help you cope as you adjusted to Fodlan life. She understood you like the back of her hand from the moment you met and you did the same for her.
Really, you had to let her move in. She’d probably have stayed even if you rejected her.
She was the complete opposite of what you were looking for- overconfident, stubborn, loud- but she grew on you and easily became your best friend. There was just something about the bubbly, blue-eyed, blonde-bobbed bitch that hooked you.
She had certainly hooked other people as well, but thank God her bedroom is on the other side of the apartment. Her social skills and magnetic personality worked for platonic friends and acquaintances as well. Ellie was constantly bringing over friends, allowing you to expand your own circle. She was heaven-sent for a newbie like you.
You sat up from your bed, yawning and stretching. Trudging to your bathroom, you rolled your eyes as the infamous Taylor Swift blared through Ellie's speakers, "Shake it Off" shaking the entire apartment. Nothing against T. Swift, but sometimes she was not the first thing you want to hear when you wake up. At least not at max volume. Ignoring the song switching to "You Belong With Me" -another banger from Swift herself, but really "Teardrops on My Guitar” was your favorite- you finished getting ready and lazed into Ellie's room.
"I've got class 'till late today." You sat on her bed. "Do you want me to pick up dinner? It’ll let me explore the area."
"Oh, please do. You need to get out more. But where?"
You shrugged. "There's really only like two good food places here. Golden Pizza and Blue Lion Buffet. Your choice."
Ellie thought for a moment. "I went to the buffet with my little friend Touma the other day... so pizza! I just can't choose a side in their little spat."
"Spat?" You tilted your head.
"Goodness, Y/N! I know you're a little new here, but you haven't even heard of the shit that goes on between those restaurant owners?"
Shaking your head, you stayed silent for her to continue.
"The owners of Blue Lion Buffet, Eagle's Freezery, and Golden Pizza are all huge rivals. I heard they were all close, but went their separate ways. All the owners' kids are our age, too. They go to Fodlan Uni, but I don't know who they are." She smiled. "I am an esteemed woman with an upcoming high status. Who would I be to take sides? I prefer to cater to them all."
You could only nod, hiding a smirk at Ellie’s infatuation of fame. A huge restaurant rivalry. How funny. "What about that little cafe on the corner? What's it called? Café des Loups?"
"They're pretty neutral, just some college dropouts trying to make some money. I think they’re gonna get involved eventually- every restaurant’s been dragged into their drama at least once."
You nodded, standing up and messing with your apartment keys. "I'll keep that in mind. Bye, Ellie!"
"Bye! I better see some pizza later!" She called as you made your way out of the apartment, now playing "I Knew You Were Trouble".

College was honestly a scam.
You sat in the classes for two hours at a time, for what? You were paying thousands of dollars to be talked at by old dusty men who made you fall asleep faster than trying to read their overpriced textbooks. You paid thousands to nap at a desk.
Unfortunately for you, though, your thousand dollar desk nap was interrupted by a tapping on the surface. You huffed and looked up, coming face to face with a pair of soft, orange eyes. They radiated kindness and just looking into them seemed to lift your mood immediately.
"Hey, you need to wake up for this part. The professor said there's gonna be a quiz on this section tomorrow."
You shot up, looking back at your professor. Blushing embarrassedly, you smiled at the boy. "Thank you..."
"Ferdinand." He drew his bottom lip in between his teeth, as if to conceal his smile, before giving up and returning yours just as brightly.
As you faced forward to Professor Hanneman, as you were pretty sure his name was- or was it Ham Man? You didn’t care enough to know- you were now struggling with two distractions. One, the weight of your eyelids as they threatened to pull you back into dreamland. Two, Ferdinand.
You kept glancing at him, taking in his complexion. He must have come to class late, since you didn't see him before. Or maybe he was on time- you did fall asleep quite early into the lecture.
You were eyeing his carefully sculpted jawline, dotted with subtle stubble that connected to sideburns and led up to clean, silky, orange hair. You wished to run your fingers through it-
"Y/N, this is the second time I've seen you not paying attention." You jumped nearly three feet in the air. "Next time, I'll have to ask you to leave my class since you are obviously taking it as a joke."
"I-I'm not joking! Sorry!" You stuttered, finally finding a reason to keep your attention on the lecture. You did look away once, just to glare at Ferdinand, who only winked and chuckled at your misfortune.
Class was eventually over and you sighed, finally loosening up from forcing yourself to pay attention. You packed your notebook and laptop and swung your backpack on, getting ready to leave the room before a voice called to you.
You turned back. "Ferdinand?"
"I was simply wondering where your next class was. I can walk you to it, if you'd like." Said boy walked quickly towards you, holding himself with a nearly-perfect posture. You felt anxious- he was trying to make himself seem like a gentleman, but you still felt a little unnerved.
"Oh, um, sure! It's not for another fifteen minutes, but it is across campus."
Ferdinand's grin seemed to get larger, making his eyes crinkle at the edges. "How wonderful! That little café is down there and I've been meaning to check it out anyways. It works out perfectly."
"Uh, yeah." You laughed nervously. This was the first time a boy had taken interest in you- or was he really interested? Maybe he's just being nice-
"Also, before I forget. May I get your number? I'd like to talk to such a gorgeous woman like you a little more."
Oh, he was so interested. You had to make yourself breathe again as you handed him your phone to let him put his number in. He gave it back to you and you noticed a heart and a smiley face emoticon next to his contact name. Your heart fluttered at the sight of the emojis and you felt your cheeks heat up a bit. Ferdinand gave you a sweet smile before holding the door open for you, letting you lead the way to your next class.
On the way to the building, Ferdinand spent the time asking you questions and getting to know you better. He had scratched basically the entire surface of you, save for the secrets that new people shouldn't know, and the same could be said for you. Ferdinand was definitely a polished and refined man. He made quite the impression on you.
"What are you doing after classes?" You asked, hoping to invite him for pizza at your apartment.
"Ah, I've got work!" He smiled sheepishly. He definitely caught onto your hopes...
"Really? Where? Maybe after, you could stop by for some Golden Pizza-"
"Actually, I work at the Eagles Freezery." He was tense, suddenly. "So I really shouldn't. Rivalry and all of that, you know?"
You were a little confused, actually. "Why would that prevent you from hanging out for a bit? You didn't buy it, I did. Plus I thought the rivalry was only between the buffet and the pizza place?”
"It's- it's a loyalty thing. It’s between all three of us.”
"It's a restaurant. How loyal could you possibly be to a dumb little ice cream parlor-"
"It's more than that!" Ferdinand snapped his mouth closed, suddenly making himself quiet after his angry outburst. "Listen, I cannot and will not eat there, look at it, talk about it, or do literally anything about it. Please, just understand that."
"Uh, yeah." You nervously readjusted your backpack on your shoulder. "I- I should get to class now. I'll see you later, Ferdinand."
"Goodbye, I'll message you after work!" With that, he sent you a wink and a smile and turned, going about his own day with the most carefree pep in his step. As if nothing ever happened. You, on the other hand, could not have been more confused. Ferdinand seemed unpredictable when it came to his moods. He was comforting and kind, yet was so… upset when you insulted the parlor. It was a restaurant. Why did he get so worked up about it? Maybe Ellie was right about it being such a big deal.
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
“I just ordered! Go, go, I’m starving!”
Not even five minutes after you got out of your last class, Ellie was calling to remind you about dinner. You were still slightly unnerved from your encounter with Ferdinand, but you agreed to pick it up and would never hear the end of it if you didn’t do something as simple as takeout.
Golden Pizza was only about two blocks away and you stayed on the phone with your roommate the entire time, only saying goodbye as you walked in the establishment. The restaurant was very nice, the honey yellow walls and the glow of the wood-fired oven making the ambience warm and welcoming. You didn’t wait long in the line, soon coming up to meet a boy about your age with a glimmering emerald gaze and a smile just as bright at the front counter.
“Hi!” The boy- Claude, according to his nametag- greeted, “How can I help you?”
“I’m just picking up an order for Eleonora Yumizuru.”
Claude nodded and typed a few things into a computer at the counter. “I know Ellie! She and I had Stats together before she dropped out to pursue her acting career. She’s certainly something.”
“Oh, definitely. I’m her roommate.” Speaking of the devil, your phone vibrated in your pocket. It was a message from her. “She actually just messaged me. Wants me to bring her a dumb little lemonade from that cafe.”
Claude laughed, “You can go and get it now, if you’d like. Your pizza will be a few more minutes. Ellie set the time for your pickup for later, so you’re actually ten minutes early.”
You thanked him and left, walking to the cafe. You took your time, observing the shops around you. Across the street from Golden Pizza stood the Blue Lion Buffet. You smiled to yourself- what a cliche to have rivals across from each other. Beside the pizza parlor was another food shop, the Eagles Freezery. You thought about Ferdinand- he said he was working today. Maybe you could drop by and- No. No, Y/N. Go get your lemonade and go.
A soft bell chimed as you opened the door. You saw four people in cafe uniforms, going about their day as you approached the register.
“Welcome to our humble abode!”
“Constance, that’s only used for a home.”
You shyly waved at the so-called Constance and the pink-haired girl who corrected her. Cafe des Loups- or Cafe of Wolves- was a quaint place, quiet and not crowded, kind of like an off-brand Starbucks. Dim lights adorned the high black ceiling, illuminating the shop just enough for a comforting ambience. There was a mural of a rainforest painted on the wall to the opposite of the counter with comfortable tables and lounging areas. If you could, you’d probably waste the day away lounging around. It was the perfect environment for an introvert like you.
At this shop, a large dark-haired man controlled the register instead of Claude. As you approached the register, you noticed that he wasn’t wearing a nametag, but you had a small urge to call him Bigfoot.
“Hey! What can I get ‘cha?”
You scoured the menu. “Just two pink lemonades is fine-”
“Oh! Good choice!” Constance interrupted you, coming to stand beside the man. “Yuri-bird over there makes the best sweet lemonades!”
You followed her gaze over to a man who was sitting on a stool, slouched down and leaning his head on his hand. He stretched and stood up. “Thank God, we haven’t had many customers all day. I was starting to think we lost our appeal.”
“Of course we have not!” Constance replied. She turned to you, but you couldn’t tell whether she was still talking to Yuri or you. Maybe it was neither. “Not when someone as handsome as Yuri is making the drinks and my attractive self is greeting the customers!”
“Hey! I’m just as much of a visual as the boss-man.” The taller man joined in after taking your money. “We’re all pretty nice looking. Especially this little lady ordering~”
You blushed a bit. “Oh, please, I’m nothing special-”
“Nothing special?” Constance laid her hand against her chest. “You’re wonderful! Almost on the same level as me. Isn’t that right, Yuri-birdie?”
Yuri looked up from making your drinks, his analytical eyes seemingly boring holes into you. You shuddered, feeling like he could tell your deepest and darkest secrets from just looking at you. He shrugged, going back to the lemonades.
“She’s alright, I suppose.”
“You suppose? Yuri, that’s rude-”
Hapi was midway through lecturing the purple-haired man when the door to the shop chimed open and a rather large group came in. Yuri looked up and suddenly stood alert, as did the other three workers. In the group, you saw a familiar head of orange hair and orange eyes met yours. Your face screwed up into confusion.
“Ferdinand?”
“Don’t say anything.” The leader of the group, a short, white-haired girl snarled. “Are you a new… worker here?”
“Wh- you just told me not to say anything.”
Slowly, Yuri and the other three came up beside you, standing slightly in front. Your heart nearly stopped- you were in the middle of something you definitely weren’t supposed to be in and your sass had gotten on their bad side already. The white-haired girl scrutinized the five of you, her lavender eyes piercing holes through whatever facade of confidence you had tried to put up. You could feel yourself literally wither under her gaze, even more than you did when Yuri looked at you.
“What do you want, Edelgard?” Yuri put his hands on his hip, one fiddling with something under his shirt.
“I want your loyalty.”
Yuri snorted. “You aren’t in charge.”
“I’m not? Hm. Tell that to my father after he stepped down. I’m the leader now- the emperor, if you will.” Edelgard sighed heavily. “I have no time for more conversation if you won’t comply. Hubert, deal with them.”
The terrifying man who you assumed was Hubert suddenly reached in his coat and pulled out a handgun, aiming it at the five of you. Yuri quickly retaliated and pulled one of his own, throwing it at Constance before grabbing your wrist and running to the back. A loud gunshot rang through the air as you and Yuri continued to run. You both dodged around coffee shop equipment and he dragged you through a labyrinth that they considered the back of the store.
As you were running, Yuri pulled you to a sharp right turn and your arm scraped against a metal machine in your way. You hissed in pain and looked down at it, seeing a large wound going down your shoulder to your elbow. It was starting to bleed rather quickly, but you had no time to worry about it. You’d have time to tend to it if you survived.
“What’s happening?”
“No time to explain. Quick, hide!”
Yuri pushed you against the wall in between two larger cabinets and stood in front, grabbing yet another gun from his other hip. He cocked it, listening for the ruckus of the fight in the main room to make its way towards your location. You were shaking like a leaf, grabbing tightly onto your wounded arm and smearing blood all over your fingers and your clothes. You breathed heavily, trying to calm yourself at least a little- was this why Ferdinand had been so defensive over the Eagles Freezery? What kind of restaurant rivalry would constitute attempted murder? And wasn’t this cafe uninvolved anyways? You didn't have time to ponder any more questions as a loud crash echoed through the room. Yuri lifted his gun and began to speak lowly, not taking his eyes off of the door.
“When I say run, go out the back door and get in the black car back there. Don’t go home- one of them will find you.”
A gunshot rang through the air and Constance, Balthus, and Hapi burst through the doors, running towards you all. Yuri turned to you as the three of them caught up to him, pulling out their own weapons again as Edelgard began yelling.
“Run!”

Bitch Boss || J.HS
Pairing : Jung Hoseok X Reader
Genre :  Fluff, tad bit of Angst?
Summary : " Second thing you need to know? My name is Jung Hoseok, and you're mine."
Wordcount: 1.7k
[ A/N: Lmao guys, here I am. Stress writing while I could also be studying. But no. My shit ass just had to stress write for no valuable reason. Anyway, I had this idea with Hobi in a gang au for like two years already and here it finally is. Also, I didn't check my spelling lmao. Enjoy!]
Tumblr media
The man in front of you seemed to think the same, because he gulped before chickening out.
You glared at the man in front of you. Hard. Very hard, in fact if glares could kill, the man in front of you would be lying dead on the floor.
" I'll just-" His voice cracked.
He swallowed before clearing it.
" My friend will talk to you." He said before leaving.
You rolled your eyes before going to inspect your nails.
It's been four hours.
Four hours since this rookie gang had caught you. You were pretty sure that you would have no problem getting out of here.
A new man entered the room while you were more intrested in your nails.
" So, princess. There's only a few things you'll need to know. First of all, you're not leaving this place. Ever. Or my side to be more specific." The man smiled.
Way too angelic you decided as you looked up from your nails.
Not leaving his side?
" Second thing you need to know? My name is Jung Hoseok, and you're mine."
-
It's been a few days since you've been living with Hoseok, and so far, so good.
Apparently he was part of Bangtan, one of the most feared gangs in South Korea, and he did not know that you were trained to be an assassin. He tough you were an ordinary girl with a big mouth.
" C' mhere." Hoseok opened his arms in expectations of you running into them.
You raised your brow at him, once again inspecting your nails.
" What is it with you and your nails? Want a manicure or something?" He asked.
You snorted.
" You don't understand women at all do you?" You asked sharply.
" Oh shit, are you on your period? What do you want me to do? I can get you chocolates and stuff. Maybe a heat pack?-"
" Let me go." You asked, more like stated as an order.
The shine in his eyes left, and his smile faded into a thin line.
" No."
" That's what's wrong with you, Hoseok. Not me. You canmot keep a woman here and expect her to love you." You stated.
You would use your assassin skills, but you couldn't. No matter what happened, the most you would do is knock someone out.
The reason why you haven't full up attacked Hoseok yet was because you couldn't kill, you knew that he wouldn't let you go that easily anyway. And because you could see the hurt little boy underneath the layer of guns and bombs. You knew you had to think trough your plan of escaping.
Meanwhile the look in Hoseok's eyes softened.
" I'm sorry..... Come with me." He ordered and turned around.
Once he realized that you were still seated and not planning to get up anytime soon, he turned back to you and walked over, grabbing your hand and pulling you up.
" Where are we going?" You asked him.
" Training."
-
His training of that afternoon turned out to be much easier than you were used to. Apparently he decided that you should learn the basics for when things go south while he isn't around, you didn't complain about it.
Today he was going to teach you how to use a gun.
A poor choice really.
" No, you're supposed to- Yeah, like that exactly. How did you know I was going to say that?" He asked.
You gulped but shrugged.
" Well, it's loaded already. Tey to hit the target." Hoseok told you.
Your eyes widen.
The thing was loaded?
An extremely poor choice really.
You turned the gun to him, pointing it directly over his heart.
Hoseok's eyes widen as he didn't expect the move.
" Y/N, don't play around with that. "
Your eyes sharpened and clicked the safety off.
" Y/N, I'm serious-"
You managed to get him to shut him up by turning the gun and hitting the furthest target straight in the bulls eye.
He turned to look at it before turning back to you.
" There's something I haven't been really honest about Hoseok. I'm not as innocent as I look." You smiled coyly before putting the gun down on the table in front of you and walking away.
" Fuck that was sexy." Hoseok said as he watched you walk away.
He grinned to himself before shaking his head.
" Time to redo that background check."
-
It's been a few months since you've been with Jung Hoseok in his mansion. And suprisingly enough, you didn't hate it. In fact, you were slowly falling in love. It pained you when you realized it. It had started with the little moment back in the training session, and then he started letting you go around the property freely, and up till now he started downright spoiling you. You smiled as you tough of him.
Your little moment was cut short however as the wall beside you exploded.
Literally exploded.
Your ears were ringing as you tried to get up, but your legs were giving up on you.
" There she is, experiment 0572." Someone said.
You were suprised to hear anything trough your ringing ears.
Your suprise was cut short as your eyes sharpened.
Experiment 0572.
The name you were given as assassin.
The name you had before you ran away.
Before Hoseok decided to take you off the shitty three jobs you had and decided that you were his.
The fear of losing of what you had now managed to get you up on your shaking legs, your hands balling at your sides before you threw the first punch.
A poor decision as you were weakened.
-
" Hoseok! We have serious problems!" Jungkook yelled ad he entered his office.
" Can't be more worse than this stupid gun which needs to be fixed." Hoseok grumbled back.
" It's about Y/N." Jungkook breathed.
Hoseok stopped with what he was doing and turned his full attention to the younger.
" She's taken from your house. I don't know all the details. Just that there was an explosion and these weird lookimg dudes were there and- I don't understand any of it. Just watch this, maybe you do." Jungkook said, slamming a sd cards onto his desk.
" It's the security tape from outside. Yoongi hyung's already searching for the van that appeared in the video." Jungkook said as Hoseok nodded, wasting no time and putting the sd card in his laptop.
The wall blew up and you were catapulted backwards.
Hoseok sucked in a breath at the sight.
He was caught by suprise when he saw you get up.
" There she is, experiment 0572." A man smirked down at your form.
Hoseok looked at his screen in confusion, experiment 0572?
The man smirked at you and something inside you snapped as you threw a lunch at his face, he was quick to react , throwing a punch right on your sleep, effectively knocking you out.
" This is experiment 0572?" One of the other men in the room asked.
" She's stronger than she looks.I've seen it on tape. Now let's move it before whatever sugar daddy she has comes back home." The man who knocked you out said, and another man unceremoniously threw you in the back of the van.
Hoseok felt rage built up inside him by the sight of someone hurting you. He rewound part of the tape, taking a closer look at the logo on his jacket.
He smirked as he got a clear picture of the tiger on the back of the man's vest.
Hsg.
Hsg was a small rising gang, but not for long.
Because they obviously didn't do their homework right.
You might be some kind of expiriment to them, but you are overall Hoseok's.
And they will certainly not get away with taking what is his.
Hoseok smirked as he called Yoongi.
-
You woke up to the sound of screaming, as if someone was suffering.
A sound you hated.
The sight that came with it was a sight you hate just as much.
There's a lot of blood around you, and a few dead bodies.
Not a pretty sight.
Your stomach wad empty, but if you had any food in it, you were pretty sure that it would have been out by now.
" Princess?" You heard a voice call softly from beside you.
Your eyes lighten up in realization.
Hoseok was here.
He had actually come to save you.
You started mumbling trough the gag that was placed in your mouth.
" I know, I know. I got you." He said as he took the gag off you, holding you in his arms.
You started crying with closed eyes, you weren't sure when the last time was that someone held you.
You especially had never experienced the feeling of being held so secure before.
Your eyes opened again as you took sight of the man in doorway, it was the very man who had knocked you out.
Your eyes widened when you realized he was holding a gun in his hand, and it was aimed right at Hoseok's back.
With a shaky breath you took Hoseok's gun from it's holder.
You felt Hoseok still against you.
" Y/N-"
You clicked the safety off and shot the man.
Twice.
One bullet in both shoulders.
You didn't have it in you to kill him, you couldn't do it.
Hoseok pulled away from you, but didn't let you go.
He took the gun from you and shot the man straight in the head.
" I'll always have you. Thank you for having me." He  wishpered in your hair as he pulled you back into an embrace.

The Detective and his Little Assistant (part 4)
(Part Index)
Chapter 3: The Plot Thickens
*Warning spoilers if you haven't gotten through 6/13 in the game*
A/N-Before the chapter starts, I want to explain a couple things. First, I chose to make Kaito a witch because I identify myself as a witch, and yes, I do mean witch, not warlock, because witch is, in fact, a gender-neutral term, also due to me being a witch, everything Kito does involved with witchcraft will be based off my own experiences, knowledge, religion and opinions, so please don't tell me I'm wrong unless you can cite a reliable source for your info. Second, for those reading this, who don't know Japanese culture very well, calling someone by their first name without an honorific (-san, -kun, -chan, ect.) unless you know them very well, or they've given you permission, is highly offensive. Please remember these for future chapters :) .
Now to the story.

Monday, June 13th, After School
*Akechi's P.O.V*
I was listening to the audio data from the pen I downloaded to my phone on the way from the station to work. I was quite happy to see that it hadn't been accidentally turned off throughout the day, despite the likelihood for it to have. I was actually skipping past a bit that seemed to be a personal conversation between her and her friends, though I seemed to be the topic of their talk. If it weren't for my current opinion of Yuno, I might've even blushed at the direction the discussion was going, however, I was disgusted and just trying to get past it.
"Finally." I sigh, getting past it, not surprised that it took up all of lunch. Listening as she head's to pe. "Hmm, who should I ask for help on my homework today?" She either wonders aloud or asks her friends, judging by the steps I heard around her. Her friends offered up names. I quickly realized all the names were all from the top 10 students in the first and second years, 'but most of those kids would never-oh, yeah, blackmail'  I think, my gritting my teeth. 'Wait, thinking about it, not even Kaito-kun would've taken this lying down, so what's she got on him that he doesn't want me to know?'  I knew it as a little self-centered to think I'm the only one who mattered, but it Kaito had in fact told me that my opinion was the only one that mattered to him, and the teachers would never believe any bad rumors about him since he was the star student of nearly every class he was in. He also never cared what any of the students around him thought of him, except, after we became friends, for me. In fact, a couple months after we became friends and before I knew he considered himself a witch by his religion, a kid that that seemed to a rather bad opinion of Kaito-kun and said something about my friend cursing him or something like that. Kaito-kun seemed to not have even heard him, but then froze quickly looked to me, fear flashing through his eye like lightning before he hid it. I realized later he’d been worried about my reaction and trying to hide it. I'd ended up asking if he'd cursed our fellow student, and he'd replied he never cursed anyone, I'd then asked why out of curiosity, and he'd told me it was because cause he was selfish, and since he believed in karma, he didn't want the negative energy of a curse coming back to bite him later.
I felt an earbud pulling me out of my ear, snapping me out of my small trip down memory lane. "Oh don't worry, I've got something special planned for-" I heard through the other earbud as I paused the recording, knowing I'd have to relisten to it later after, hearing an annoyed sigh next to me that I knew belonged to Sae-san.
"Oh, sorry Sae-san. I got lost in thought it seems." I say with a practiced sheepish smile, pulling out the other earbud.
"I hope you know you were so lost in thought you nearly walked into the door." She smirks teasingly. "Maybe you should keep the music for your work-outs only."
"Guess so." I chuckle, remembering the few hours of music Kaito-kun had given for my birthday as well, that I'd put on my phone and started listening to during my early morning runs, and noticing I’d been only a couple steps from walking into the door.
"Well, let's go in then, we've got cases to get to." She smiles.
"Indeed." I smile, opening the door for her.
"Always the gentleman, thank you." She sighs with a smile, walking in.
"Of course, you're welcome." I smile, following in after.
***
Deciding not to listen to the recording until I got to my apartment, considering how I nearly walked into a door the last time I listened to it on my way somewhere. I was heading back to my apartment in the evening light, hoping Kaito-kun had actually taken the advice of my pre-scheduled messages telling him to go to bed…. even if I wasn't following my own advice. I smile, remembering where my mind had wandered before Niijima-san, and how it had ended. My mind started to drift back down memory lane, remembering how after he'd explained why he didn't curse people, he told me he'd actually reported the student for harassing a female classmate. He ran off to the bathroom after telling me that and it took a little while, however, over the next three days the problem student kept having the worst luck. One of the biggest scenes that spread around the school like wildfire, was the when girl he'd been harassing, who was actually quite sweet and quiet for the most part, slapping him across the face before admitting he'd been harassing her, causing him to get suspended. When he came back, he ran towards Kaito-kun and I at lunch, nearly falling on his face in the process, and yelled about Kaito-kun cursing him again, my friend seemed completely surprised and a little lost. Though after he left a sly smirk pulled at Kaito-kun's lips.
"I don't curse people, but I can enhance one's karma." He smirked under his breath, causing me to look at him questioningly.
"So, you had something to do with this?" I asked, though not quite believing he could.
"I'd like to think so. I mean, I did use a spell to make all he's done come back to him three times three." He smirked, snapping his fingers while saying the last word, the problem student tripping over his own feet and falling at the same time, causing his smirk to grow. "I was gonna leave it at the report and try helping the girl, but...he just kept pushing." He sighs.
I learned two things that day; 1: don't piss off the witch; 2: Kaito-kun wasn't all rainbows and shy smiles like I'd seen till that point and I'd even started putting a little more stock in mysticism and such. "I could report you." I smirked, mostly curious to see how he'd react, though not quite sure how that'd go. His reaction surprised me, his face fell slightly, though he tried to hide it as he looked down to his food and started playing with it rather than actually eating it. I'd expected him to just laugh it off, as he did with most things.
"I'd like to see how that goes down, with your rep, it might actually go a bit differently than the 20 or so other accusations." He smirked, though his voice was a little harsh.
"I-I said could, not would." I quickly stated, trying to back peddle out of this point in the conversation.
He’d pinched the bridge of his nose with an annoyed sigh. "Sorry, I'm overreacting, but you wouldn't be the first to report if chose to." He murmured.
"That's a bit obvi-"
"I meant the first I considered a friend to do so." He specifies with a sigh, making me freeze, realizing what the statement meant, 'he's...used to being betrayed, so when the possibility of it happening comes up, he immediately goes on the defensive'
***
I went straight to my computer after locking my door, hooking my phone up to it so I could better analyze and actually edit the recording so I could only keep what was actually important and discard what wasn't, 'like the first disgusting 30 minutes' I think, deleting that time from the file. Starting back at the beginning of Yuno's talk with her friends. "Hmm, who should I ask for help on my homework today?" I knew whoever she asked for help, probably didn't have an actual choice They talked for a few minutes, before settling on a female student who was 2nd place to Kaito-kun in his class, however one of the other friends piped up. "What about Kaito?" I froze, my worries confirmed that he was a target. I could feel my jaw tighten at the insult of them using his first name, especially without an honorific. "Oh don't worry, I've got something special planned for Kaito today." Yuno giggles, the rest joining her. My hand starts curling into a fist 'what the hell did you do?!' I mentally growl before skipping past, and deleting most the silence of the pe class until I heard Yuno talking to the girl she chose for helping with her homework. Judging by the girl's voice, I was right in assuming her victims at least don't feel like they had a choice in helping her. While she was heading to her next her next class, she told her friends about taping notes to Kaito-kun's locker 'so that's why he seemed a little off after school' I think, feeling the leather strain around my fist. Skipping past and deleting her silent work, stopping when I heard them starting on the notes for his locker, saying what they wrote mostly stupid shit, that had me grinding my teeth and wanting to punch them like 'fag', 'looser', 'freak', then I barely stopped my fist from hitting the desk with the last one, "you're lucky we're not dealing with Salem trails stupid witch". Forcing my hand to relax as I buried my head in my hands, knowing if I hadn't been wearing my gloves, my fingernails would be digging into my scalp right now as they continued.
"If that bitch used my pen to write that." I hissed, ending with a growl that many might've described as murderous as I continued listening, not even wanting to think about what else they might’ve done to him.
"Why not just go ahead and tape a picture of a vase of flowers to his locker Yuno-chan?" One of the friends snickered. "I can't do that, Kaito might freeze long enough for Goro-kun to see, or he might actually tell." Yuno giggled.
*SLAM* my hand hits the desk hard enough I might have actually bruised it hearing that. "Do. Not. Use. My. First. Name." I growled, wishing she could hear venom dripping from every word, wishing I could throttle both of them for that considering doing something like that was a way of telling someone to kill themselves.
"Why didn't you use his pen?" One of the friends smirk, causing me to sigh in relief. "Cause if he manages to find out, he'll never forgive me." Yuno sighs.
'Oh-ho-ho, we're way past no forgiveness bitch' I think with a dark chuckle, getting the last bit of evidence and wishing I had a punching bag in my apartment, as I get up and head to the bath to try and calm myself down enough to go to sleep.
 *Akira's P.O.V*
I had just got back to Lablanc after talking with everyone at the dinner, Makoto-san, third-year, and the student council president had figured out who the phantom thieves were.
"You're back-whoa, you look tired. Long day?" Sojiro-san asks from behind the counter.
'You have no idea' I think with a sigh, nodding my head to my caretaker while I was on probation. "Your day any better?" I ask, deciding to strike up some conversation.
"If slow is better, then yes." He says with a slight smirk.
"Heh, well then, guess I'll head up." I say, not having much else I could say to him.
"Actually..." Sijiro perks up slightly. "Do any students from Aoyama use the station as you?"
"Uh, yeah, Akechi Goro, we actually talked a little this morning too." I say, though figuring that wasn't who he was wondering about.
"No one else?" He asks, trying to seem disinterested...and failing.
I thought for a moment, before remembering the smaller boy that ran over to Akechi-senpai. "Yeah, actually, a boy, around my age, but a bit shorter." I answer, I definitely had Sojiro-san's attention, even if he was trying to hide it. "Akechi-senpai introduced him...Sasaki, Sasaki..." I trailed off, trying to remember his first name.
"Sasaki Kaito, he's short and rather shy?" Sojiro-san offers.
