Queerness in Indian Media
↳Television: THE FAME GAME (2022, Hindi) dir. SRI RAO
While the main plot of The Fame Game follows the mystery around the disappearance of famous actress Anamika Anand (Madhuri Dixit), there is a subplot about Anamika's son, Avinash (Lakshvir Saran) coming to terms with being gay, most specifically with having feelings for his best friend since childhood, Samar (Danish Sood). He is deeply uncomfortable with his sexuality and attempts a few drastic measures to "fix" the situation, but ultimately he is able to accept himself and confess his feelings to his friend. As a bonus, Anamika is fully accepting of her son's sexuality and encourages him to tell his friend how he feels.
The actress Madhuri Dixit has been in multiple gay and gay-coded media, both as a supportive character and as the gay character herself. She has also been supportive in real life of the LGBTQ community.

The way the 7th ep of fame game is the most gayest ep I've ever seen on indian tv . Like when Avi finally comes to terms with himself and confesses to his bestfriend and crush that he reciprocates his feelings . And then they get to have their first date and be intimate with each other . And then the lesbian moms decide to fight for the custody of their son against one of the moms ex husband . And then there's the cute domestic scene between them where they cuddle on the couch . And then the scene where Shobha becomes a lesbian mom guiding her little gay son Avi through his confessions . Like she held out her hand for him and takes care of him during the search . All in one ep .

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Original Work Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Original Male Character/Original Male Character Characters: Sundar, Nitin Additional Tags: Uttarayan, Indian festival, First Kiss Series: Part 1 of Indian BL WIPs Summary:
Over the days of preparation for the Indian Festival of Uttarayan, two college aged boys fall in love.
“I like it,” Nitin says, somehow his voice echoes with the fireworks in the open space. “I like it when you smile.” It’s almost disappointing. Sundar curses himself for what he wanted. “I like it when you’re happy. I want you to be happy. Always.” Something big fires off in the distance, followed by cracklings of smaller rockets. Some part of his brain even catches some music. Sundar is moving before he can think, before he can reason, before he can stop himself and let the moment shrink. Something moves Nitin too. He is aware of it as he moves.

Hey there! Was wondering what affect fame degrees and such have on houses and the ascendant? I have 2 planets with fame degrees, alongside 6 houses and my ascendant in them, so I’d be pretty curious what impact there is.
If you’d like to know which houses and such specifically, I’ll be happy to send them over. Love your work!
Fantastic question!
Really, the same rule applies for the houses as the planets:
If you have a fame degree at the Ascendant, people will know you for your personality (and also the traits of your Ascendant's sign).
If you have a fame degree on the 5th House, for example, you will be known for 5th House endeavors: romance, creativity, entertainment, sports etc.
Basically, whatever the House has the degree (1-12) is another way that you will gain recognition (the degree will tell you the type of recognition).
Does that make sense?

She’s craving for the fame.
It’s a little something I did to try and get myself back to art since I haven’t drawn for such a long time; but I also got really interested in the “Lina Morgana Conspiracy theory”, so I thought I could draw something inspired from it

The list is longer than I expected, and does not include the person the town itself was praising as its homegirl in the 1950s -- an actress that was in like two movies. She's been pretty much forgottten.
Curiously the list also doesn't include a certain person who made headlines by pretending she was pregnant for a senior project, and became the subject of a Lifetime movie. (I've read the book. Half of the adults mentioned in it, I went to school with!)
I don't know any of the names on that list except for that one serial killer. We don't talk about that guy, who was executed in 1993.

people who go through the main tags of big and tumultuous fandoms looking for new fresh good posts to reblog are essential to any circle. they’re like true hunter gatherers leaving the safety of settlement and braving the unknown wilderness to find food for the flock. they risk their lives every day and will come back with a few scratches at best and severe psychological damage at worst

Getting into BL in 2022 makes me think - why not India? Like China is making BLs. CHINA! And before 2016 they were not censored. Yes they were not HEAs and were problematic but they were there. And that is what irks me, I guess. I keep thinking does the audience just not want queer stories, even like the Oscar bait kind. You google this and there is a list of the same 10 books/movies and half of them are non-fiction. So do people just not want it? But that can't be, given how popular BLs are. (Percentage wise it's low but in a population of 1 billion+, even 1% is a million people) Is someone blocking the making of this type of content? Coz like I said, the sheer size of the country's population would justify spending money on this. We've seen some in the last year but even those aren't love stories, they are sad coming out stories.
My gripe with this remains the fact that China made BL and even post censorship they made BLs. Guardian, The Untamed, WoH, etc. While I don't think they will continue making more, these were, like I said, POST censorship BLs. India doesn't have even remotely similar content. And the reason I compare these two countries is there are other variables that are similar. Like India vs USA would not be a fair fight. USA has a different culture. But Asian cultures are overall similar and China also has the same population and they were destitute after the British too. So unlike say, Thailand, which wasn't majorly affected by colonialism, well not as much as the others, India and China have a similar starting point.
