I’m so happy I was able to complete this chapter before the end of the year!!! Life through me for a loop once again and I struggled with transitioning the two sections of this chapter. I think the way I ended up doing it was good and also may have filled in an accidental plot hole. What’s also great about this chapter is that it’s also a transition chapter. We have finally finished Act I of the fic and are moving into Act II. Yay!!! 

How many Acts are there? There’s only 3 Acts. How many chapters are in each Act? No one can guess, not even me lol. There were 8 chapters in the first Act and this whole fic was originally supposed to be 10 chapters long... However, that is the beauty of writing. You start with an idea and it just evolves and transforms into something you could have never imagined.

Trivia Time!

There were actually 3 scenes that inspired The Fade of Moonlight:

The first scene, which started everything, is found in Chapter 3

The second scene will be found in Chapter 8 (publishing soon!)

The third scene will be found in the final chapter (TBD)

So, it took two chapters to get to the first scene, and then five more to get to the second scene. And now that I have gotten to the second scene, I can’t bridge the gap and transition between scenes within the chapter 😅 

The problem is that Chapter 8 itself is a transition chapter. We’re transitioning from Act I to Act II (yes, Act I was 8 chapters long; there are three Acts total). Everything has to shift, but my brain is struggling to make it cohesive.

It’ll happen eventually 😁

If anyone has read my fic "The Fade of Moonlight", you might recognize this scene from Chapter 3: Caged Birds, in the "Age 9" section, which is arguably the cutest scene ever. It's also their last happy scene together.

This is the scene that started it all. This is the scene that floated around in my mind. This is the scene that ultimately prompted me to write the fic. This. Bathed in moonlight. Blissful for such a short while. A dichotomy of abused children finding happiness in the smallest moments. But, all moonlight fades eventually.
