Based on the two ACTs so far, I really think they intended to have 12 episodes in Arcane season 2, and Netflix told them no...
Like, it's REALLY good, but it's all happening at such breakneck pace. I'm convinced each ACT was planned to have 4 episodes instead of 3. And when writing, they had to trim a lot of stuff to make it fit the 9 episode structure.

I'll never not be fucked up about Ariane Yeong's story (or the story of Signalis in general).
Like, this girl grew up in (I assume) a loving home with her mom, but was ostracized by the wider community because of her upbringing and other things that make Ariane... well, Ariane.
The fact that she was raised solely by her mother, her love of music, reading, painting... everything.
And it's so clear that she wanted to get away from it all and, she thought, to be alone.
The Penrose program is the perfect escape! She's finally alone, kind of. Elster is there, after all, they just don't really interact at first. Not in any meaningful way.
But before either of them knows it, they've grown close. Ariane isn't alone anymore and they spend a good ~7 or so years together...
I can imagine them sharing excitement about planets and other things, among other things we know they did canonically.
All of that until the reactor starts to fail and all associated events unfold, until, once again, she's completely alone. And it's SCARY, heartbreaking, and painful, I'm sure.
There's more I'd love to comment on, but I don't want this to get too long. I don't really know how to end this, as a result, but... YEAH. I have big feelings about the Signalis characters

When I found our there were like,,, 4 separate endings to the game I fucking lost it. It was even worse when the friend I was playing it with told me they got a different ending I did, and when we watched it together I turned into a weeping grown man.

Inspired by installing BG3 all day, I had a look through my games library for what the other largest games I own are because 138 GB is fucking ridiculous. the closest any other game got was GTA 5 at 109 GB.
