For the purposes of this poll, "engaging with" the discourse would include things like putting proship or antiship in your bio or in your DNI, blocking people who identify one way or the other, posting about or arguing either side, etc.
Please don't use this post as a platform to argue for either side. This is just a survey.
We ask your questions so you don’t have to! Submit your questions to have them posted anonymously as polls.

I just saw a really stupid take from a Star Wars fan (I know, absolutely unheard of! (heavy sarcasm)) so here is a reminder:
People who ship clones with Jedi are more than aware of the power dynamic. That’s a huge part of what makes them interesting. If we were to to ship Cody with basically anyone else other than Obi Wan, it probably wouldn’t work as well because Obi Wan is precisely the last person who would ever want to pressure him or cross his boundaries.
The Jedi were totally screwed over and backed into a war that goes against so much of what they stand for and on top of that, now they have an entire army of brand new humans to lead. All of those brand new humans are totally unique and just experiencing the world for the first time, even though they’re all mature adults too. It’s a totally screwed up situation which puts so much added pressure onto the Order, so we throw romantic feelings on top of that and we’re not supposed to find that absurdly compelling?
Obi Wan is literally defined by his empathy and his kindness. The reason shipping him with Cody works so well is because there is no one who represents what the Jedi are meant to be better than him. Goodness is at the core of his character. There would never be a day that he didn’t value Cody’s wellbeing over his own feelings. Not to mention that they’re both so dedicated to their beliefs and responsibilities that a relationship is never even realistically an option while the war is going on.
Codywan is about the yearning. It’s about them both knowing they have feelings for each other and not being able to do anything about it because they are fighting for something much bigger than themselves. It’s about the infamous “after the war” conversation that they never got to have. It’s about them meeting again on Tatooine years later, finally on equal footing and completely alone in the galaxy, bonded together by their grief.
That’s why people love Codywan. The suggestion of anything otherwise is just an insult to the hard work all the artists and writers have put into making some of the most incredible fanfiction and fanart and fanon lore I’ve ever seen in any fandom ever.
P.S.— the portrayal of something in a piece of media doesn’t equal the condoning or promoting of that sort of behaviour. I thought we’d long since established that. Let’s use our brains here.

The way that fanon can affect how people view canon, going so far as to warp the source material to fit their fake opinions is a double-edged sword. It can be something as funny and harmless as curly-haired Luo Binghe or blond Yang Qizhan or something as terrible as some of the biggest and most wide-spread translators of mdzs all deciding to translate “gui dao” as “mo dao” despite those being different words in English, different characters in Mandarin, completely different meanings, and the whole point of the novel being that these are two separate things whose differences must be hammered home multiple times in the story. That so many people independently (I hope) got together to mistranslate that one phrase built entirely on a misconception meant to be debunked in the story means that so many people miss this major deconstruction because “well, if the people who know the og language all say it’s this, who am I, a reader ignorant to said language, to challenge them?”

I want more non-porn fics where most of the cast is known to be having or have had casual sex with one another and it's not a big deal.
*writes a bunch of these fics myself*

I'm really not a villain enjoyer. I love anti-heroes and anti-villains. But I can't see fictional evil separate from real evil. As in not that enjoying dark fiction means you condone it, but that all fiction holds up some kind of mirror to the world as it is. Killing innocent people doesn't make you an iconic lesbian girlboss it just makes you part of the mundane and stultifying black rot of the universe.
"But characters struggling with honour and goodness and the egoism of being good are so boring." Cool well some of us actually struggle with that stuff on the daily because being a good person is complicated and harder than being an edgelord.
Sure you can use fiction to explore the darkness of human nature and learn empathy, but the world doesn't actually suffer from a deficit of empathy for powerful and privileged people who do heinous stuff. You could literally kill a thousand babies in broad daylight and they'll find a way to blame your childhood trauma for it as long as you're white, cisgender, abled and attractive, and you'll be their poor little meow meow by the end of the week. Don't act like you're advocating for Quasimodo when you're just making Elon Musk hot, smart and gay.

I had to download the Spongebob font for this. Whether or not it was worth it I’ll leave up to viewer interpretation

find it sooo funny that foreman is cuddy now and chase is house because although cuddy was an enabler she at least had some semblance of what you’re meant to do as a doctor. so she could hold up the facade a tiny bit. chase is gonna walk in like “I need approval to amputate this guy’s perfectly working legs and then re-attach them using dental floss. without anaesthesia btw. and we’re gonna hypnotise his medical proxy to get consent. we think he has a mild mint allergy and I need the answer” and foreman isn’t even gonna look up from his paperwork before responding “k lol”

I was outlining the next radiostatic fic when I got distracted by the fact that someone needs to put Lucifer into their lap and tell him he's a good boy, and now I'm 6.2k words deep into something that's turned out way more emotional than I thought it would.

ok i absolutely get why people put disclaimers on fics that it’s about the characters/show and not irl people (even if it does feel like a livejournal hangover)
but unfortunately every time i read one my brain is like. the funniest possible thing you could do would be to put a disclaimer on a fic that says actually. this is about those wwii paratroopers. i do think those veterans were fucking
