hello!! please could i request one where the reader is an OG member of the IC and very close to azriel (she knows that heâs her mate, he doesnât) and sister-like to the rest of the IC. once feyre and her sisters come about, she often confides with feyre so theyâre also close.
anyway, thereâs an important event for the reader on day and she expected the rest of the IC would join her (she invited them?) but no one turned up and sheâs absolutely exhausted, emotionally and physically, by the end of the day.
when sheâs back, everyone is together at the house having fun and one of them notices she so dressed up but looked exhausted. maybe someone says something snarky and thereâs an argument. azriel defends the snarky person so reader and azriel have an argument (hurtful words towards the reader) and thatâs when the mating bond snaps for az and heâs regretful. things happen but happy ending for the reader, az and the IC. thank you đ«¶đŒđ
Odd One Out
Summary - After 500 years of friendship, the last thing you ever expected was the Inner circle to miss one of your symphonies. But you know what they say, time changes people.
Warnings - I warned you all to watch out for angst, right? Elain being catty, reader feeling lonely, Azriel being an idiot
A/N - I promise Bound by Fate is still coming. I'm just constantly rereading it and not happy with where it's at. It's probably because I needed this out of my system. I hope this is close enough to what you were looking for! It wrote itself, so I'm worried it may stray too far from the ask! Please let me know if it did.

Odd One Out pt 2
Maybe you had asked too much again. You looked to where the empty seats for the Inner Circle and Archeron sisters sat one last time before moving forward. You had worked too hard on this symphony to let this stop you. You were the last to go on stage, the conductor in her gorgeous sparkling gown and heels. You were the picture perfect face of composure as you bowed before turning and raising your hands.
You were introduced to Rhysand at a young age, and the two of you were quickly friends, so when he became High Lord, a place at his side was handed to you without question. You were eloquent, elegant, and kind. You were perfect for the position of emissary, and you single handedly won him friendships and alliances among every court aside from Spring.
He had never stopped you from pursuing passion, though. Your father had forced you into harp lessons from the tender age of 4 until his untimely death. He sat by your side for hours, teaching you to speak through letters written on a sheet that so fee could truly understand. It was an escape that turned into a career. One Rhysand specifically built the amphitheater you currently stood on for. The music you wrote woke emotion on the High Lord and all of Velaris, quickly making you one of the most popular females in the City of Starlight.
No one enjoyed your music more than Azriel's shadows, though. Nor did anyone enjoy you the way they did. How they knew you two were mates while he sat clueless and doting on Elain would never make sense to you, but the shadow turning your sheet music for you tonight was at least a small comfort, even if your family, mainly his master, was not here in their resevered High box seats.
You were exhausted when your arms lowered for the close of the show. You stood to the side, plastering a small faked smile on your graceful features as you held your arm to the orchestra, signaling for their bows before taking your own and leaving. You were the last one there, sharing thank yous and goodbyes as you musicians left. You chose to be alone for a while on the harp that sat in your sound room at the theater. You had a song in your mind, and you needed to let it speak before it left. Even if it was created from a place of raw emotion. It was near midnight when you finished, leaving the new composition to sit until you returned tomorrow.
You could hear the drunken laughter the second you walked into the old Riverhouse, the one you and Azriel made home as the mates of the Inner Circle began occupying the other houses, and signed as you removed your heels and picked them up into white tipped manicured nails. "Y/n!" Cassian's booming drunk voice slammed into you as he did. "Where have you been, baby?"
It was Nesta who gasped, looking at the clock on the wall before whispering a soft oh no as she saw your dress. Nesta who covered her mouth, eyes beginning to water as she shook her head and stared. Nesta who glared to Feyre.
"Why do you look so dolled up?" Rhys had a slight flush to his face, a wide smile as he took you in. "Hot date?"
You couldn't help but stare, shaking your head as your throat tightened. "You all seriously don't remember." Rhys knitted his brow thinking, and his face slowly fell.
"Y/n Darling, I am-"
You put your hand up to him before he could finish, shaking your head as the tears actually fell. "Save it. Spare me your lies and excuses." Cassian looked to Nesta and then Rhys, his own face falling next as he remembered.
"The symphony."
"Was beautiful, regardless of my support system deciding wine and board games were more important than the first live art performance in Velaris since our high lord was captured." Your voice was shaking as you looked up, avoiding Hazel eyes that were wide in shock as every single ounce of heart ache you felt hit him.
The bond finally snaps, his shadows hissed. We've been reminding you all day. And now you've hurt our mate. Ours. We went. Where were you?
"Maybe if you were actually good at writing music, we would have remembered." Mor's glass of wine hit the floor as your breath stilled. Rhys felt his hands fall from Feyre's lap as she audibly said Elain's name in an insulted tone. Amren was immediately held back by Varian. "Obviously, if the people who you claim you're so important to did not see making time to go a priority, we did not miss much."
Cassian heard your breath shutter. You stared to Azriel, waiting for him to come to your defense and not realizing his silence was due to shock from the bond and Elain's sudden cattiness. "Very well. I see I am no longer wanted, and I will not stay where I am not wanted," the whisper was all anyone could hear as you turned and walked away. The door shut behind you, and as if the Mother truly hated you, rain began falling softly, and you made your way back to the amphitheater.
Azriel had never shoved someone off his lap as quickly as he did Elain in that moment. But it was Rhysand who spoke, "How. Dare. You." The High lord went to stand, grabbing his jacket. "When your sister was dying, I sent her y/n's music. The mobile you play for our son every night, is y/n's music. The music that plays in Hewn City is y/n's music. She is an essential part of my circle, my family. How dare you tell her that her passion, her joy, and her career mean nothing to us."
Azriel backed away from Elain. "Your true colors disgust me, Elain Archeron." He studied her, truly studied her for the first time as the door slammed shut following Rhysand's exit. "That is my friend, my closest friend. You just hurt her like it was nothing. Cut her so deeply you will never be able to repair it."
"Well, if she mattered so much you all would have remembered."
Feyre spoke then, between heavy sobs, "I wrote down the wrong date. I wrong down tomorrow night for opening night. We were going to take her to dinner. It was supposed to be Nyx's first concert. This is my fault."
"Again, proof it didn't matter." Elain sipped her white wine as if Feyre had all but solidified her opinion.
"Get out," the growl from Azriel took everyone by surprise. "Get out of my home. You are no longer welcome here."
He was out the door, running to catch up to Rhysand in the rain, but missing the High Lord. He entered the amphitheater drenched and in silence, sitting next to where Rhysand was in the dark.
You were on stage playing violin as you always did when your heart was breaking. Every stroke of the strings had the bond growing tight before you dimmed it on your end, as if each movement of the bow, each note, was you whispering goodbye. "She told me she is leaving," Rhysand rubbed his face next to Azriel. It was then he saw the tears staining the perfect features of the High Lord. "She said this is my last performance before she leaves for Dawn."
"There's nothing we can do then?" Rhysand shook his head at the question before his head fell into his hands and his shoulders wrecked into sobs. "She's my mate."
"I know," Rhysand looked to the stars. "I've known for years. She never said anything, and now she never will. What little piece we had left is gone. Her light had been blown out by Elain's statements."
"Let me-"
"Just please stop talking and let me enjoy this."
It was the song he had sent Feyre under the mountain. A score that read of hope through pain.
And hope was all Azriel could hold on to as you stood and bowed, winnowing away as soon as you were finished.

Heyy dunno if this is something youâd consider writing but I just saw an edit of Spencer and it made me realize we donât really go into how he essentially relapsed when he was drugged in Mexico and now I need to see this in writing I donât necessarily have a prompt but something along the lines of just having a convo with him or comforting him? đ«¶đŒ
the ninth step | S.R.
spencer works to make amends after mexico, and he's starting with you
who? spencer reid x fem!reader category: angst; hurt/comfort content warnings: drug use, narcotics anonymous, spoilers for 2x15 "revelations", spoilers for 12x13 "spencer", substance use disorder, fiancee!reader, the ninth step is amends, a lot of crying, only a little proofread word count: 1.11k a/n: you say no prompt and i say free reign!!! i think about spencer in mexico all the time so thank you sooo much for this request!
The only time anyone could find Spencer Reid in a church was when he was in a meeting.
As usual, you waited out front on one of the benches, leaning your elbow on the iron armrest as you kept your notebook balanced on your thigh, scribbling notes down as you waited for Spencer to come out and meet you.
Members of his group left the church in staggered variations of people, some left together to get coffee after, some left alone, and one didnât leave at all. A few of them acknowledged you as they passed, but no one mentioned your fiancĂ©.
Once your car was the last one remaining in the parking lot, you slipped your notebook into your bag before hauling it over your shoulder and standing up. Wiping off the back of your jeans, you walked through the front doors, noting the way the stained-glass windows refracted the remaining sunlight on the linoleum floor.
Knowing the pathway, you walked over to the meeting room, a space reserved for youth groups, Sunday school, and Narcotics Anonymous meetings. With the space vacated, the only sound was the tapping of your shoes as you passed through the doorway, and just as you had assumed, Spencer was the only person remaining in the windowless room.
He didnât move as you approached him, sticking your hands in your jeans pockets as you silently assessed the despondent look on his face. âHow are you?â You asked softly, tilting your head to the side.
âIâm just sitting,â he mumbled, it wouldnât have been intelligible if you didnât have years of practice understanding him and his mumbles. His old NA group had disbanded years ago, and you were glad to find this one close to your apartment.
Nodding understandingly, you took one more step closer to him, âCan I sit with you?â
Brown eyes flickered up at you just then as he seemingly considered your offer, âYeah.â
Looking around, you hooked your ankle around the leg of an empty, gray folding chair and dragged it across the floor until it was next to Spencer. Setting your bag on the floor, you took your seat.
For a while, you sat in silence. For a while, that was enough.
After a couple of minutes, your silence was broken when Spencer finally moved, pressing the heels of his palms to his eyes, and your chest ached when slowly, his shoulders started to shake.
Getting out of your chair, you crouched in front of him, keeping your hands resting on your knees as you looked up at him, âCan I get you anything?â You asked, keeping your voice level as emotion threatened to take over.
You had known that today wasnât going to be a good day from the moment Spencer asked you to drive him to the meeting. He asked you to take him because he was afraid that he wouldnât make it there on his own, and at the time, you hadnât even dared to consider the implications of what that meant for him.
Spencerâs hands fell to his lap, and you eyed him carefully as he took a deep breath. His eyes were bloodshot and watery as he looked at you just as intently â there was a dam built between the two of you, and there had been since he came home.
Things had changed. That much was clear to you ever since he came home to you and said the word out loud. A word that had seemed foreign in your household until it became a reality. You continuously had to remind yourself that you werenât in this situation because of a decision he had made, you were here before of a choice that someone else had made for him.
It churned your stomach to see him knocked back down to day one. Six months later, you were here, in this denominational building, silently pleading with him to say something to you.
Holding your breath, Spencer reached his hands out, taking both of yours in his, âIâm so sorry.â
Your shoulders drooped. We donât have to do this here, you wanted to tell him, but thatâs not what he needed right now. Gently, you squeezed his hands in a comforting gesture, âI know you are, baby.â
âWeâŠâ he whispered, âOur lives should look a lot different right now.â He said, moving a finger and tapping the engagement ring on your left hand.
A previously planned wedding day had come and gone, Spencer had been in Millburn, and you spent the day on the couch in Emilyâs office.
Refusing to disconnect your hands, Spencer wiped his face on his arm, the motion bringing a minuscule smile to your face. âI shouldnât have gone to Mexico. I shouldâve been more honest with you about where I had been going and what I was doing, and I know that now.â
You looked up at him, maintaining eye contact with him. He was trying to make amends with you.
âI know that thereâs no amount of apologizing or groveling that can fully make up for everything youâve lost because of me, but for as long as you keep having me, Iâll spend all of my days trying to make up for all of this,â he lamented, keeping his clammy hands clasped around yours. âActions speak louder than words, thatâs true, especially with amends, and⊠Iâm trying.â
Spencer followed the NA handbook to the very finest minutiae, he stayed away from anything that his substance use disorder could cling onto, and as his voice broke and tears made pathways on his cheeks, you wanted to tell him that you saw him. You noticed every effort he made, but all you could do was cry in time with him.
Disconnecting your hands, he reached out and wiped away your tears before cupping both of your cheeks in his hands, âIâm never going to stop trying for you, Y/N.â
Your lips parted as you wandered the depths of your mind for something adequate to tell him, but nothing came out.
âAll of the sacrifices that youâve made in the name of the life that I messed up, I see them all. I think about them all the time and if thereâs ever anything you need from me, just tell me, okay?â He implored, lifting your chin and gently guiding you up, pulling you toward him until you were sat with your legs perpendicular on his lap.
You let loose a shaky sigh, leaning your head and settling it on his shoulder, âThank you,â you whispered, closing your eyes as he wrapped his arms around your torso, keeping you close to him.

summary: reader gets nervous in the crowd, but luke is right there to help her out of it
notes: iâm once again throwing a luke fic out into the world. i saw this request in my inbox and immediately thought of the zach bryan concert the boys just went to. i would literally give anything to attend a concert with them. i just KNOW theyâre great concert buddies. sorry itâs kinda short, i just didnât know how to drag it out any longer. i hope you enjoy!! happy reading!! đ«¶đŒ
request: from my 400 follower celly - Character A can tell Character B is getting nervous in a big crowd, so A slips their hand into theirs to help them calm down.
[2.8k]
You had been looking forward to tonight for months. From the second Luke surprised you with the tickets for your birthday, you immediately started planning an outfit, making a playlist, and anticipating the trip.
When he told you his brothers and a few friends were tagging along, it only made you more excited, enjoying every moment you got to spend with your boyfriendâs brothers and their hockey friends.
After the concert, everyone was driving over to stay at the lake house for a few weeks, enjoying as much of the summer together as they can before pre-season training starts. You couldnât wait to have a few weeks of fun on the water, but also wanted tonight to last as long as it could.
Your excitement grew even more when you found the perfect outfit for the occasion, even buying a matching light-up cowboy hat off of Etsy. You were especially excited for the chance to wear your boots again, not having many excuses to wear them in Jersey.
Luke had his hand planted firmly on the small of your back, making sure not to lose you as you weave through the crowd. You had bought Luke a new shirt for tonight, the orange t-shirt matching the burnt orange color of your dress.
He leads you over to the crowded merchandise stand, telling you to pick whatever you wanted. You struggled, loving every item tacked onto the display board. When you told him you couldnât decided between a t-shirt and a hoodie, he bought you both before you could even open your mouth to protest, buying himself a hat and t-shirt as well.
âLuke, you just spent over $300 without even batting an eye,â you barked at him, crossing your arms to try and look menacing.
You know Luke couldâve afforded to buy you the entire stand and still not make a dent in his bank account, but you donât like when he spends large amounts on you for no reason.
âYeah, so?â he shrugs, taking your elbow and leading you away from the cloth covered table, slinging the clear bag of merchandise over his shoulder.
You roll your eyes and huff at him, unfolding your arms and taking his hand, letting him lead you through the sea of bodies.
ââSo?ââ, you mimicked his response. âYou didnât have to buy half of the merch stand just because it took me more than three seconds to choose which shirt I wanted.â
He glances back at you over his shoulder. âThe fact that you didnât have your mind made up the second you saw the options means you clearly wanted both, so I bought you both.â
You reach over and pinch his side, mildly annoyed with how well he understands the way your brain works.
âQuit pinching me you little gremlin,â Luke hisses out, the nickname being one he uses when youâre being stubborn or annoying.
âQuit spending all of your money on me, you giraffe-man,â you fire back.
You can see his shoulderâs shake, your impromptu nickname for him amusing him.
He doesnât respond right away, the two of you having made it to the entrance to your seats, walking up to the worker standing under the numbered sign.
The usher instructs you to show your tickets to one of the workers at the bottom of the set of stairs.
When you walk into the arena, you notice how large the space feels, the open floor and mostly empty seats creating the illusion of size.
Luke has to nudge you a bit, reminding you to keep walking, too in awe of the fact youâre actually here.
âNot so unhappy with me spending my money on you now, huh?â he leans down to whisper into your ear, making sure you can hear him over the roaring chatter.
You hit him lightly in the chest, a smirk on his face as the two of you walk down, showing your tickets to the usher once you reach the bottom of the stairs, a bright colored wristband with bold letters spelling out VIP FLOOR printed on each one.
You make your way over to a small, sectioned off area near the main stage, seeing the rest of your group already waiting for the two of you.
Jack is the first one to notice you approaching, his eyes lighting up and arms being slung into the air.
âItâs about time! We were starting to worry the two of you got lost!â he calls out, causing the rest of the group to turn their heads and call out greetings.
You smile, having missed those in the group that didnât live in New Jersey.
Walking over to Quinn first, you give him a long hug, the last time you saw him being when he played his brothers in Jersey months ago. The frequent facetime calls the two of you share not being enough to scratch your Quinn itch.
âQuinnifer! I missed you!â you squeal as you squeeze him as tight as you can.
You can feel his chuckle as he squeezes you back. âI missed you too, Munchkinâ he leans back, ruffling your hair.
Although you see Jack nearly every day back home in Jersey, Quinn is the brother youâre closest to. You and Jack are literally two peas in a pod, but thereâs something about Quinn that made you feel comfortable with him from the moment Luke introduced the two of you.
Heâs like the big brother you never had, always calling him when you need advice or need to complain to someone about Luke.
Anytime you have a particularly nasty argument with Luke, Quinn is the one you call. He always allows you say whatever you need to get out of your system before breaking the problem down and agreeing that his brother is an idiot, but that he also loves you with everything he has in him.
At first you tried to go to Jack with problems surrounding your relationship with Luke, but he clearly didnât know how to help you. He either told Luke about your conversations, causing the argument to grow worse because Luke claimed Jack had no business knowing about whatâs happening in your relationship, or he would shrug his shoulders and say âjust donât yell at him when Iâm trying to sleep. I need my beauty rest.â
You swat Quinnâs hand away, trying to smooth down your now tousled hair.
âI see you dressed the goon, tonight,â he points out Lukeâs orange shirt.
You turn your head to see him talking with Cole.
âBelieve it or not, it was his idea,â you think back to after you bought your dress, trying it on for Luke once you came home from shopping with your girls. He loved the way you looked in it, his eyes widening the second you emerged from your walk-in closet.
He swallowed thickly, his gravelly voice choking out a âDid they happen to have a matching shirt? Because if youâre wearing that, Iâm going to need something to match so everyone knows youâre there with me, not up for grabs.â
You blush at the memory, looking back over to Quinn.
âI always knew he was whipped, but damn youâve got him down bad, huh?â he shakes his head, smiling in amusement.
âWrapped around my little finger,â you hold up your pinky, wiggling it at Quinn with a giggle.
You feel a pair of arms snake their way around your waist, a heavy object resting itself on top of your head.
âWhatâs wrapped around your little finger?â Luke asks, his chin bumping against your scalp as he talks.
âYou, duh,â you reply, moving your head forward and craning your neck to look up at him.
He looks between you and his older brother before uttering out a âOh one hundred percent. Couldnât unravel myself if I even wanted to,â he lets go of you, stepping up to stand beside you.
Quinn just laughs, bringing Luke in for a hug.
After you make your way around to greet everyone, the lights are dimming and the atmosphere inside of the arena changes.
You love the hum of excitement in the air, finding Luke and standing in front of him. You hear the first notes of Overtime as Zach Bryan comes onto the stage, screaming as loud as you possibly can.
Luke has a content, amused smile on his face as you scream out the lyrics, jumping and dancing around as the beat allows.
As the concert goes on, you make the switch from dancing with Luke to dancing with Jack, attempt to get on Quinnâs shoulders to get Zachâs attention, and slinging your arm over Coleâs shoulder to sway back and forth with him during one of the slower songs.
When it comes time for Zach to sing Revival, your favorite song of his, you beg Luke to leave your secluded area to get closer to the stage, wanting to experience being in the crowd for this one particular song.
He looks at you apprehensively, eyeing the large sea of people on top of one another, barely any room between the bodies pressed together. He worries about losing you in the crowd, your small frame allowing you to get swept away easily.
You tug on his arm like a little kid, repeating âplease, please, please,â over and over again, assuring him youâll be fine.
Luke eventually gives in, letting his brothers know where you two are going, claiming youâll meet back up with them after the concert.
Grabbing your hand, Luke leads you off of the small platform and into the crowd, pushing his way as far up to the front as his large body will allow him.
You stop just a row or two of people away from the stage where Zach had just climbed onto, adjusting his guitar and microphone before starting the song.
As the song rang out around you, you sang along to every word, joining the rowdy crowd as the chorus starts.
You start to jump around in the small space you have, enjoying every second, until Zach walks his way over to the small portion of stage in front of where you stand.
As soon as his figure stands over the crowd around you, bodies start pushing against one another, everyone trying to get as close to him as they can. You feel yourself being shifted towards the metal barricade, not being able to fight against the rush of people.
You start panicking, whipping your head from side to side to find Luke. All you can see around you are strangers, not being able to move your body to look behind you. You have absolutely no control over your own body anymore, being stuck in-between a girl slightly taller than you and a man that has at least a hundred pounds on you.
Squeaking out a âexcuse me,â and âcan you let me out please?â you try to make your exit from the suffocating situation. Your eyes turn frantic when you realize that no one can hear you or cares to hear you. Your breath picks up, heart pounding in your chest.
You can feel the tears pricking in your eyes, not being able to regulate your breathing anymore, gasping hot air into your lungs as fast as you can.
Youâre about to let out a scream, begging someone to pay attention to you and let you out of the mess youâre in, when you feel a familiar hand slip its way into yours.
Whipping your head around, you catch a glimpse of curly hair behind you, not realizing that the body pressed against your back has been Luke this entire time. You figured you had lost him when you were surged forward, unable to see him anywhere around you.
Your breath starts to slow slightly, knowing youâre not alone in this crowd easing some of your nerves. The feeling of your heart pounding is still present, not wanting to be in this situation one second longer.
Luke attempts to tug your body back towards him, but the impenetrable wall of people around you prevents him from doing so.
You manage to wiggle your way in a circle somehow, now facing Luke.
He takes one look at your frightened face and knows he has to get you out of here, now.
Pulling you towards him, he cages you in with is arms, your cheek pressed to his chest. He starts walking backwards, his hockey roots coming in handy as he all but body checks people out of his way. The two of you finally make it to the back of the large crowd, Luke not letting go of you until you were back over in your original section.
Quinn was watching the whole thing from the small platform he was stood on, about to walk over and fish you out himself before he noticed Lukeâs head slowly moving backwards, away from the stage.
He can see youâre still shaken, walking over to meet the two of you at the top of the ramp.
âIs she okay? Is she hurt?â Quinn asks, concerned about how frightened even Lukeâs face looks right now.
âNo, sheâs fine. Just shaken up, I think. She got trapped between a random girl and some dude at least triple her size,â he tells Quinn, running his hand down your hair in soothing motions. Your hands were still clutching his t-shirt, not wanting to let go of him just yet.
Quinn stares at your trembling figure the whole time, knowing you donât want to leave Lukeâs embrace but wishing he could do something to help you.
âLetâs get her out of here and to the car, yeah?â Quinn suggests, picking up yours and Lukeâs bag of merchandise off of the floor of the platform.
Luke just nods, leading you back down the ramp.
Quinn steps over and letâs everyone know to just meet them in the parking garage before following yours and Lukeâs intertwined bodies towards the nearest exist.
Luke manages to get you up the stairs and out into the outer ring of the arena without letting you go. Both pairs of your feet moving in tandem, not once risking tripping over one another.
He leads you out of the doors and into the cool night air.
You finally allow yourself to leave his embrace, instantly feeling better in the openness of the outdoors. Never letting go of his hand, you continue to let him lead you to the large garage.
Lukeâs BMW sits right where he parked it, the loud beep echoing in the dark garage as he unlocks it.
He opens the passenger door, lifting you slightly to sit you down on the leather seat. His hands come up to your cheeks, his thumbs wiping the stray hairs that were sticking to the damp skin under your eyes.
âAll good now?â he asks you, the frantic look of your eyes now gone.
You nod, looking into his concerned eyes. âMâalright. Just got scared. Too many people,â you mumble out, leaning into Lukeâs palm slightly. âSorry I made us go out there. Just wanted to have fun.â
Luke leans his forehead against yours, shaking it back and forth slightly. âNo, itâs not your fault. Just bad timing is all,â he assures you, knowing how upset youâre going to be when you realized you missed most of the last song.
He pulls his head back, standing back to his full height outside of the SUV.
You notice Quinn standing a few feet away, letting you and Luke have your space.
Frowning, you call out to the eldest Hughes. âYou didnât have to leave early too, Quinny.â
Quinn looks over when he hears you address him, walking closer to the vehicle.
âEhh, show was almost over anyways,â he waves you off. âHad to make sure my favorite little munchkin was okay,â he shrugs, telling you its no big deal.
You smile at him, thankful you not only have your boyfriend to look out for you, but Quinn as well.
âI promise Iâll make it up to you. Both of you,â you look between the two brothers, only ever seeing how alike they look when theyâre standing in front of you.
They both tell you itâs not necessary, the main priority being that youâre safe and sound outside of the arena.
âFine, I guess that means neither of you want to stop for post-concert pancakes on the way to the lake, then?â you tease, watching both of their heads snap up. All three brothersâ secret love of sweets is something you use to your advantage, only ever having to mention how good ice creams sounds before Luke and Jack are ushering you out of the door and driving you to the nearest ice-cream shop.
âWell, I guess if you really just feel the need to do something nice for usâŠâ Quinn trails off, making a smile break out on your face, unable to hide the laugh at the sudden switch up.
âYeah, thatâs what I thought,â you continue to laugh at the pair, Luke leaning in to buckle your seatbelt for you as Quinn climbs in the backseat, sending a quick text to the rest of your group, telling them if they want to join in on the pancake outing, they need to be making their way out of the arena, and fast.

better together
summary: airline lounges, box box widgets, and a cheesy greeting card đ
words: 1,045
a/n: the romcom girlie in me has always wanted to write a meet-cute and i've been listening to too much lizzy mcalpine! tagging @vamossainz55, @sainzcaleruega, @monzabee, @ssainzz, @diorleclerc, and @userlando just because. let me know if you'd want a part two! hugs and kisses đ«¶đŒ
Love comes when you least expect it. Those same old words had fallen from the lips of every person you knew, so much so that they now felt weightless. On this particular evening, you found yourself at your best friendâs wedding reception, zoning out at the open bar. You nodded along as some man whoâd had one too many G&Tâs rambled on about his meet-cute on the Paris metro. Seeing two people you adored make a lifelong commitment only reaffirmed the fact that you craved the same.
It was no secret you werenât exactly the MVP of the single scene. On any given night out, youâd leave the club before midnight to get a full eight-hour snooze. Dating apps were a no-no, as reruns of Catfish had made you skeptical about âfinding the oneâ online. At work, you kept a low profile, socializing just enough to have a tight circle of work friends. It was as if you were coasting on autopilot, wanting love but hesitant to steer towards it.
Not to say that being single was all bad. Every hard-earned dollar was invested right back into the things you loved: trips, clothes, and your dog Cannoli. You silently weighed the pros and cons of your lifestyle as you stepped into the airline lounge.
Setting down your latest read to save your seat, you made your way to the breakfast buffet and grabbed a plate of avocado toast, poached eggs, and a glass of orange juice. On your way back, you spotted someone in a hoodie and cap making themselves at home in the armchair opposite yours.
The whole lounge was virtually empty, and this just had to be his seat of choice? You slowly approached from behind and let out a quiet gasp as you noticed them flipping through your book. âLove languages, huh?â The man pointed at the cover and smiled.
Your pupils dilated twice their size as you registered just who it was. The fan-made bracelets, the Leica, and, most of all, the signature McLaren capâit all fell into place. âMy manager and I just got into a huge argument, and honestly, Iâd rather be anywhere but with him right now. Do you mind if I-" He gestured towards the seat beside you, his eyes radiating a silent plea.
âNo problem. Let me give you your space,â you responded, hastily gathering your things. Just as you were about to step away, his hand gently clasped your wrist. âI could use the company. Iâm Bob, by the way,â he mumbled, oblivious to the fact that his cover was blown.
As in, you knew he was currently seventh place in the driverâs championship and slowly but surely climbing up the standings. The last thing he needed was for you to bring any of that up, so you did as he said, trying to give him a sense of normalcy he so deserved.
He headed to the breakfast buffet and returned with the very items you had selected. "Copying me?" you teased. âFirst step in getting to know you,â he grinned. Curious about your life, he asked about your job in the emergency room. You told him the hours were grueling but watching extremely sick patients leave healthy made it all worthwhile. "Hope I never end up being your patient," he joked.
His interest didn't stop there; he inquired about siblings (only child), your dream vacation destination (Antibes), and whether you were a dog or cat person (not even a question). You, being a proud dog mom, wanted to show your furry guy off and handed Lando your phone.
As he squinted at your phone, you heard him say, "7 days to go. United States Grand Prix." A wave of panic washed over you as you remembered the Box Box widget that also occupied your screen. The silence was deafening as you wished the ground would swallow you up.Â
âLet me see the app,â He said. You normally wouldnât have acquiesced so quickly, but you crumbled and unlocked your phone. He appeared to scroll and click a few things before he handed it back. âWidget Preferences. Constructor: McLaren? Driver: Lando Norris?â You asked as you noticed heâd made some selections.
âYou hadnât bothered with the preferences, so I took the liberty of choosing.â He blushed as the awkwardness of it all hung in the air. âThat doesnât feel fair. Iâve had all this time to get to know you, and I canât say the same for the other drivers.â You teasingly retorted.
âI'll let the guys know they're in a tight race for your heart." He snickered. The man was on the verge of tears when his manager came by to remind him of his impending flight. âFlightâs in an hour, Lando,â snapped him right back to reality.
He entrusted you with his bags as he ran out to run a quick pre-flight errand. You couldnât help but squeal the second Lando had vanished from view. What kind of magic was in the air at this airport and could it be bottled?
You tapped through your best friendâs Instagram stories as you awaited his return. The nearly empty lounge echoed as Lando asked a nearby gentleman for a pen and jotted something down. Breathless, he handed you a card, urging you to read it later.
"Your shoelace is untied," he mentioned, and as he bent down to tie it, his blue-green eyes met yours.Â
The British racing driver left your life in the abrupt way he had entered it. You took in the card, decked out with drawings of mac and cheese, milk and cereal, and avocado and toast, captioned "Better Together" at the bottom.
It was the only card in the store, but it felt just right. You highlighted âwords of affirmationâ as your love language, so I thought Iâd give this a go. Thanks for keeping me company. Talk soon? - LNÂ
His number was scribbled at the end. You quickly changed your lock screen widget to showcase his stats and took a screenshot to send his way.
New look. I might be biased, but I think you just became my favorite driver. Let's see if you can keep it up.
He replied right away.
I like the sound of that. When can I see you again?

for the prompt request #4 âI know I said you could call me anytime, but⊠Itâs the middle of the nightâ with quinn hughes and a little bit of angst a lil bit of fluff đ
thank you so much for this request, i love a little angsty/fluff with Quinn đ«¶đŒ hope you like this!!
note: i literally never know how to end these and like i know they are meant to be quick little blurbs and nothing crazy but my brain starts going and i wanna end up writing so much đ« so sorry if my endings suck sometimes
âIâm gonna kill herâŠâÂ
Quinn groaned as he heard your ringtone coming from his phone, that he couldâve sworn heâd put on silent. Pulling it from his side table he grumpily answered, ây/n, i swear to god. I know I said you could call me anytime, butâŠitâs the middle of the night.âÂ
âQuintin Hughes, donât be mad at me, please?âÂ
Immediately he knew you were drunk by the tone of his voice, and you only ever called him Quintin after one too many vodka lemonades.
âSend me the address, Iâll come and get you.âÂ
Rolling his eyes he hung up the phone, tossing back the covers before throwing on a hoodie and shoes to come pick you up.Â
You knew Quinn was mad the second you sat down in passenger seat. His jaw clenched as he didnât even look at you, eyes on the road waiting for the sound of the door closing and the click of your seatbelt signaling for him to drive.Â
Once back to his place you slowly trailed behind him, Quinn still not saying a word as he disappeared into the kitchen, you heading to his room only to find heâd laid out a tshirt and some shorts for you already. Despite his silence and angered essence in the car, you knew it wasnât directed at you. At least, not entirely. Quinn had been down since the Canucks playoff exit and his sleep schedule had been a mess. So a late night drunk call after heâd finally fallen asleep at a decent time was not something he was thrilled about.Â
Quinn soon appeared in the doorway of the bathroom as you were taking off your makeup. A water bottle and some chips in hand. âI thought you might want these?âÂ
His voice soft, laced with exhaustion as you could see on his face just how tired he was.Â
âThank youâŠand Iâm sorry.âÂ
He shrugged, crossing his arms as he leaned against the doors frame. Watching you finish up in the bathroom, the two of you making your way to his room and finding your places on his bed.Â
âItâs my faultâŠI didnât put my phone on silent. Or do not disturb. So I did it to myself.âÂ
Quinn slightly chuckling as he rested his head against the wall, eyes closing as you broke open the water and chips. âWell, I shouldâve been more cognizant of the fact that it was so late. I couldâve called someone else.âÂ
He glanced at you with a smirk on his face. âWe all know Iâm the person you will always call. Drunk y/n loves calling Quintin Hughes to save the day.â Mocking your tone in which you call his name when youâre intoxicated, Quinn laughs while you just blush.Â
âI canât help it when you always have water and chips ready to go for me! And itâs the variety pack of chips so itâs always a surprise!âÂ
Quinn shook his head, the funny thing being is that you didnât make that comment because you were drunk. You were just that much of a good to genuinely enjoy that he kept a variety pack of chips at his place.Â
âWell, look,â setting the now empty bag of chips on one of his bedside tables you moved to sit more in front of him as you spoke. âI will try and not make these drunk calls a frequent thing. Especially with youâre sleep schedule being a mess right now. Iâll try and be more aware. Iâm sorry.âÂ
âY/n, itâs not that big of a deal. I donât mind taking care of your drunk ass. But maybe just give me a heads up next time if youâre going out, so Iâm at least aware that I might be on call.âÂ
âOh my gosh, should we get pagers? Like doctors used to have back in the day? And I could page you when I need you?âÂ
Reaching behind him, Quinn grabbed a pillow, playfully smacking it across your face. âYouâre done, take your drunk ass to bed right now.âÂ
Quinn placing the pillow back behind his head as he rolled over, pulling the covers over him. âFucking pagersâŠyou are something else y/n.âÂ
He chuckled into the pillow as you couldnât control your drunken laughter. âWell, just kidding we can scrap that idea.â
âWhy?âÂ
Quinn asked as he was trying to calm his laughter. âI donât think they make pagers anymore. Google says they mostly use phones nowadays. So it looks like your stuck getting calls from my Quintin!âÂ
Rolling over you wrapped an arm around him, pulling him close to you as he groaned, âNot unless I block your number.â
âYou wouldnât dare!â
Quinn laughed at your offended tone, âtrust me, Jack drunk called me like crazy once he turned 21 and he got his number blocked for a few weeks. Donât try me y/n. And if you want to keep your endless supply of water and variety bag chips, I suggest you trust me.âÂ
âAye aye captain!âÂ
Playfully saluting to him he just covered his face with a pillow as he laughed at you before rolling over.Â
Smiling to himself heâd finally calmed down from all the laughter, drifting off to sleep. The fastest heâd been able to sleep in weeks, thanks to having you by his side.Â

a game of wizards chess on a rainy day
~â~ i've never written for enzo before but my mutuals (love you allđ«¶đŒ) have slowly been turning me into an enzo girlie đ€đ€ this if for week three of @thatdammchickennugget's hogmarch challenge!!
pairing: enzo berkshire x fem!slytherin reader, platonic mattheo riddle x reader
prompt: wizards chess/"you filthy cheater, we go again!"
warning(s): none its all fluff!!!
The weekend's rainy weather brought with it a sense of serenity and peace as it swept across the Scottish highlands like a flurrying storm. The castle grounds were barren of people, everyone making the unanimous decision to avoid the heavy downpour that had steadily been building in a crescendo all week. The corridors were even emptier, avoided by those who wanted to escape the cold, only the odd person running late to a detention, or for a quick stop in the kitchens, could be seen or heard amongst the chattering painting and silently gliding ghosts.
The common rooms however, were teeming with students, from all year groups. In the Slytherin common room, you and your friends had been some of the lucky few to snag a small grouping of pleated seats, right beside a roaring fire. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that one of said friends was the feared Dark Lord's son, but either way, you were grateful that you could relax by the fire for a few hours, soaking up what little warmth the dungeons could provide in such miserable weather conditions.
Except that you feel anything but relaxed right now. You had somehow found yourself sitting across the small coffee table from Enzo, a fierce game of wizards chess playing out between the two of you. It was common knowledge, between you and your friends, that you absolutely sucked at it, but that didn't stop you from trying, and failing, to beat Enzo at his own favoured game.
You jumped back on your haunches as his bishop savagely destroyed one of your lone pawns and gaped as he jumped up and cheered at his small victory, ignoring the way students around him violently shushed him with scowling faces. Your friends, who only paid sporadic attention to the pair of you, smirked as Enzo sneakily glanced your way, to watch how your face would scrunch in barely restrained irritation.
"And he strikes again!" He says with a cheer, that has Draco glaring at him from over his Potions homework with narrowed eyes. Enzo vehemently ignores him in favour of watching the way your face shifts between a million and one emotions in a split second. "I'm like two moves away from checkmate, sweetheart. Are you sure you can handle losing, again?"
The way he's smirking at you, with mirth painting his face, those brilliantly vibrant eyes of his shining as he stares across the table at you, has a blush fighting it's way up your neck. You scowl at him, menacingly.
"No one likes a show off, Berkshire." You snap, as you move your last remaining rook to take his knight. When Mattheo and Theo snicker from behind you, you turn and rapidly send a glare worthy of one of their own that has them covering their faces to try and hide their laughter from you. Even Draco, who'd been more withdrawn lately, had let out a quiet chuckle.
Sorry love. Mattheo says to you wordlessly and you narrow your glare, solely, on him. But you're not doing a very good job at this.
"Well there's no need to laugh at my misfortune, Matt." You reply and he smirks as he watches the way Enzo looks questioningly between you and him, before he moves another one of his pieces, putting you in checkmate.
You turn towards the table again as you hear the sound of shattering porcelain, watching as your rook is destroyed by his queen, which is now somehow in line with your king piece. You search the board for somewhere you can go, and come up agonisingly empty. You gape at the smug boy across from you.
"You filthy cheater!" You accuse and Enzo sends you a smirk that could bring you to your knees at anytime of the day.
"I did no such thing, sweetheart." He says, but the mischief shining in his russett eyes makes you believe otherwise. "Maybe you should pay attention next time."
His words ignite a challenge within you and you steel yourself as the pair of you become locked into a heated staring contest. In your peripheral, you watch as your friends whisper conspicuously between each other, but you pay them no mind.
Huffing you use your wand to fix and rearrange the pieces to their original positions.
"We go again!" You say resolutely, kneeling closer to the table, as if it would somehow make your wizards chess abilities rise to the surface. But you knew that it was wishful thinking.
Ready to lose again, sweetheart? Enzo speaks to you wordlessly, and your glare intensifies at the way his voice lowers a decibel or two, making it a low rasp in your head. I promise I'll go easy on you. He's smirking to himself as he moves the first piece.
And the cycle continues for another hour, until Blaise lets out an aggrieved sigh and takes your place. You sit beside Pansy huffing as you cross your arms over your chest, casting a look of contempt at Enzo, who does a terrible job of hiding his smug face. After half an hour, their game is a close one, and Blaise only just beats Enzo with a move of pure luck.
The latter comes to sit beside you after that, the game becoming abandoned on the table, an arm reaching across the back of the sofa, hand tracing featherlight patterns against your jumper covered shoulder. He's staring at the side of your face, tracing the way your hair falls in rippling waves as you tilt your head in favour of engrossing yourself in a book instead of focusing on him.
"Still bitter that I won, sweetheart?" He murmurs, leaning in close so that his lips brush the shell of your ear.
The twitch of your lip is the only thing that gives away that you hear him, but you choose to ingore him in favour of finishing the chapter, or at least you try to.
Since Enzo had sat down, you'd read the same sentence at least five times now. He pokes your shoulder with the hand that had been previously caressing it and you turn to him, breath hitching imperceptibly when you realise just how close he is to you.
"I'm only bitter because you cheated. I could've won fair and square." You say, your lips falling into a pout that Enzo desperately wants to kiss away.
"I'm no cheater." He says with enough self assurance that you might be inclined to believe him. "You were the one who turned away from the game."
"Only because Matt distracted me!" You retort, your face moving closer to his on your own accord.
"Perhaps I should put you out of your misery and teach you how to play." He whispers. The tension building between the two of you could be severed by a knife with how palpable the charged atmosphere is.
Said knife appears in the form of Theodore's hushed voice, which sounds fed up as much as it is amused.
"For Salazar's sake, please put us all out of the fucking misery of witnessing this and kiss." It was meant to be a muttered statement between himself and your other friends, but it reaches you nonetheless, causing you to recoil from the close proximity to Enzo, covering your reddening cheeks with your hands.
Enzo doesn't bother to remove his arm from where it practically cradles you into him as he scowls at his best friend. But when you don't move away from his touch, he thanks any god he can think of that you don't shy away from him.
The rest of the afternoon is spent in content silence as you and your friends bask in the murky green glow of the lake, warmed only by the heat of the fire. But you feel heated for a whole other reason, because Enzo's arm is yet to be unwound from your shoulder as you busy yourself with burrowing into his body heat, the position cosy enough for you to settle into finishing your book, and eventually even lulling you to sleep.
Enzo stares down at you with a smile as your book falls limply into his lap. He gingerly picks it up and slides the bookmark, that you'd left on the coffee table, into place before gently putting it on the floor beside your bag. He brings your body closer to his and marvels at the way you instinctively nuzzle your face into his chest, relaxed by the steady beat of his pounding heart.
He places a barely there kiss to the crown of you head and he swears he sees the ghost of a smile gracing your pretty lips.
One day. He'd confess to you one day.
And by the twin looks that he spies on Matt and Theo's faces, that day may come sooner than either of you may think.
~â~
A little bonus scene:
"I don't understand how the two of them are so oblivious." Pansy says quietly as she watches the way you berate Enzo with no mutinous ammunition behind your words. "They're so obviously in love with eachother."
"Well they are idiots, bella." Theo says with a laugh. "It'll take it being spelled out for them to realise it."
"We cannot meddle with their love lives." Blaise counters, although his glimmering eyes give away that he wants to do exactly that. Draco looks like he agrees.
"Oh come on, B!" Mattheo retorts, a devilish look overtaking his features. "Where's the fun in that?"
"I'll bet twenty galleons that you can't get them to admit it by the end of the month." Pansy offers with a feline smirk and Mattheo's eyes light up in challenge.
"You have yourself a bet, love. Prepared to lose?" He smirks at his friend who only winks back at him before she settles into Theo's side.
"I wouldn't be so sure of that." She says and they all turn to watch the way Enzo blatently stares at you, eternal love shining in his russett eyes. "Enzo's looks like he's about to burst with it."

Having the baby and you and Charles introducing him to Ruby who is confused because she asked for a baby sister and got a baby brother
a boy? | charles leclerc
live laugh love baby leclerc đ«¶đŒ
Ruby waited by the door. Ever since she woke up that morning, she asked her grandmĂšre and both of her uncles when her parents were going to arrive. She was excited to see her new baby sister. She was confident she was getting a baby sister, she even picked out a name for her.
Ariel Leclerc, named after Rubyâs favorite Disney princess.
âRuby, your mama and papa are here!â Pascale smiled as she approached the door ready to meet her new grandchild. The gender was kept a secret just like Rubyâs.
âAriel is here! Sheâs here!â Ruby jumped up and down. She was still in her pink pajamas. All she wanted was her baby sister.
âRubes, we donât know if the baby is a girl. You probably have a brother.â Lorenzo said to the girl as he picked her up.
âNo, itâs a girl. Sheâs named Ariel and weâre going to play together.â Ruby nodded.
âI hear them!â Pascale said excitedly as she heard the front door open. The Leclercâs saw Y/n enter first. She had messy hair and looked tired, but she had the biggest smile on her face. âCongratulations, my girl.â Pascale brought the woman into a hug.
âMama!â Ruby extended her arms so her mother could hold her but Y/n was still sore from the labor.
âBaby, my arms are weak. Papa can hold you.â Y/n told the girl, who frowned. âLetâs meet your baby brother.â She announced to everyone.
âA boy!â Arthur cheered along with everyone else, but Ruby. She looked around and saw how everyone was very happy for the baby boy.
Charles then walked in with the baby car seat. Inside was a baby peacefully sleeping wrapped in a light blue blanket. He had little mittens on his tiny hands with a matching blue hat. This wasnât her sibling, no, her sibling was supposed to be a girl.
âLook, Ruby, this is your baby brother.â Charles set the car seat down. Lorenzo put Ruby on the floor. She slowly walked towards the sleeping baby and stared at him. âHis name is MathĂ©o.â
âIs there another baby?â Rubyâs question caught everyone off guard. âWhereâs the baby that was in mamaâs stomach?â
âRuby, MathĂ©o is that baby. Heâs very excited to meet you.â Charles tried explaining to her but she was convinced MathĂ©o was someone elseâs baby.
Ruby didnât say anything else. She walked away and went outside to her tiny backyard playground she had.
âShe hates him.â Y/n sighed as she walked slowly to the sofa. Lorenzo saw her struggle and helped her. Charles, Pascale and Arthur followed close by.
âShe doesnât hate him, sheâs confused. We shouldâve found out the gender when we had the chance. We shouldâve told her so she wouldnât be like this when we introduced her to MathĂ©o.â Charles said to his wife.
âIâm going to go talk to her.â Y/n tried getting up but she was stopped by Charles.
âYou just gave birth. Iâll talk to her.â
So while his family got to meet the new addition to the family, Charles walked outside to see his daughter playing by herself on the playground. He walked towards the little girl and watched as she gave an empty tea cup to her stuffed animal. She had different Barbies in a circle around her pretending they were her âguestsâ.
âRuby, we need to talk.â Charles spoke. But the girl ignored her father. She continued playing with her toys. âRuby Jules Louise Leclerc, put your toys down.â
Ruby put her tea cup down. âPapa, weâre having a tea party.â
âI know but right now we need to talk,â Charles sat next to the girl on the grass. âMathĂ©o told me he wants to meet his big sister.â
âBabies canât talk, papa.â Ruby said lowly.
âThen whatâs bothering you, mon chĂ©ri?â Charles knew what was bothering her but he wanted to hear her out.
âLucy from school has a sister and so does Lily. I have a brother.â She said. âI want a sister so we can play together.â
âMathĂ©o can play with you when he gets older. Boys and girls can play together. Just like how you and Jack play in the paddock.â Charles explained. âPlus, MathĂ©o canât wait to meet you. Remember when you and I talked to mamaâs belly and you told him how your day was?â Ruby nodded her head. âHe recognizes your voice.â
âHow? Heâs a baby.â Ruby wondered.
âHe just does. So now he knows that youâre his big sister just like he knows Iâm his papa and your mama is his mama.â Charles hoped the talk would get her to at least meet get her inside to meet the baby.
âDoes he know uncle enzo and uncle arthur are his uncle too? And what about uncle pierre? He has to know uncle pierre! What about grandmĂšre?â
âSlow down, Ruby, heâll know. But just in case he forgot why donât we go inside to tell him?â
Ruby wasted no time in running inside. She even yelled at Charles to hurry up. Once she opened the door, she saw her mother holding her baby brother. âMama! He knows Iâm his sister!â Ruby ran towards her motherâs side and saw her brother with his eyes open. Again, the child was a carbon copy of his father, especially the eyes.
âHe does and heâs been asking for you. Come sit over here.â Y/n said. Ruby obeyed and sat next to her mom. She watched as the baby yawned which made her laugh.
âPapa told me he can recognize my voice.â Ruby said. âDoes he know my name?â She asked curiously.
âWhy donât you remind him.â Y/n leaned forward a bit so Ruby could see more of her brotherâs face.
âHi, my name is Ruby Jules Louise Leclerc. But I like Jules. Papa said that when youâre older you can play with me. But you can play with the cars, the barbies are mine. And you canât say uncle Pierre is your favorite, heâs mine.â Ruby said in all seriousness.
âLucky for MathĂ©o, he has another uncle, right Ruby?â Arthur poked Rubyâs cheek.
âDonât tell anyone but uncle arthur snores.â

hi lovely ! it's milunalupin :)
could i please request remus + "i waited for you" ? đ«¶đŒâš
hello my friend, ty for the request!! im working on my big boy fic for james rn but i wanted a little bit of remus as a break <3 (wc: 691)
âYou smell good.â
Remus looks at the man taking a seat across from him, appalled by such a comment. Sirius looks equally stunned saying it, wrinkled nose a mirror of Remusâ.
âThank you?â
Sirius shakes his head like this is the wrong response.
âWhy do you smell good?â
Remus rolls his eyes, keeping his posture aloof. âTook my annual bath last night.â
Sirius scoffs. ââBout time. Your stench was getting harsh on my delicate canine senses.â
That pulls a laugh from Remus, however small.
By the door, he sees you squeezing into the packed pub, side-stepping between rowdy groups of people and looking around. Youâre wearing a mid-length skirt, and when you spot the two boys in their booth it swishes around each hasty step.
âHi,â you breathe, âIâm sorry. They made me start inventory and then I just had to shower andââ Remus stands to offer you some seclusion via the walled side of the bench seat. You wave your rambling apologies away, winded from running around all day. âNevermind. I need a drink, Remus. Come with?â
âSit,â he demands softly, âIâll fetch it.â
You do as youâre told, hanging onto Remusâ words like a takeout fortune, foolishly hopeful that they mean something. If Sirius didnât demand so much attention, youâd probably turn them over in your head a lot longer, but he really, really does.
âThink you can show us lads up, eh missy?â
Smothering a smile, you stare Sirius down with false bluntness.
âYep. Youâre lucky I even came at all, honestly.â
Sirius laughs, spinning his glass, half empty and through sweating. You realize his drink is the only one on the table.
âIâm surprised you did. Youâre so popular, but you stay humble for us.â
âI have to,â you agree, âI couldâve been with people a lot cooler than you guys, but I just felt so bad. You and Remus donât have anyone else to hang out with now that James is married.â
âMoony, weâre being bullied,â says Sirius, raising his voice a touch to reach the boy in question. Remus places two new drinks on the maple tabletop, sliding in close to you.
âIâm sure we deserve it,â he says, passing one of the fresh glasses off to you. âWeâre turning into losers.â
You bring the cool glass to your lips, relaxing further into the familiar booth cushion and eyeing Remusâ new drink.
âIs that your second?â
Remus shakes his head. âMy first.â
He tracks your brows as they pull together. Theyâd been here almost a half hour already.
âI waited for you,â he explains, smiling gently. Your stomach leaps.
âYou didnât have to do that.â
Sirius jumps in, stepping on Remusâ toes.
âThatâs what I told him,â he says, âI said youâre too sweet to mind.â
âDonât listen to him,â Remus says, following up Siriusâ heel. His voice is still wearing the crooning silk he tends to direct towards you. âItâs the polite thing to do. Sirius just has poor manners.â
Across the way, the man in question sputters objections while you try not to laugh.
âIâIâm impolite? Iâm impolite! Please. Sheâs the only one at this table who was late to a hangout one block away from her apartment. I had every right to drink my sorrows away.â
Remus ducks his head and shoots you a cat-like grin, but Sirius isnât done.
âAnd itâs not being polite if youâre motivated by a massive crush, Moony, by the way. Dâyou know heâs wearing cologne?â
You stare at Sirius, because the alternative of looking at Remus (who is flushed beyond measure) is akin to a death sentence.
âYes,â you admit. Youâd smelled it on him when he stood up earlier, a fresh earthy scent that was too sharp to be soap. Sirius points at your face like heâs caught you.
âSee? The only people who notice a guy wearing cologne are his miserable best mates, and girls who want to be waited on.â Remus shoots him a glare and he throws his hands up as if to say, sue me. âIâm just helping.â
Remus curses through an exhale and drops his head into his hands.

ă· A/N: just a little something for the Mick girliesđ«¶đŒ ps. lets just pretend that Mick isnt a reserve driver!!!! also lets just pretend 2019 was 2 years back LOL.
It all started two years back, when you had just transferred from Alpha Tauri to Mercedes, but Covid suddenly hit.
Video conferences were a thing and Mercedes was holding a team meeting online. Everyone was required to join.
This was a regular thing and often times they would just go over talks about where the team will be moving forward and so on so you didnât really pay that much attention.
Suddenly, your phone dings. It was from an unknown number but you knew it was from Mick because the text read,
âDo you understand what Toto is talking about?â
You quickly saved his number before replying to his text, not realising a smile has made its way to your face. Itâs unexpected really, you werenât really close to Mick. Heâs much closer to Jack and Sebastian.
âNot at all. Iâm not listening. Are you?â
You looked up at your laptop screen, realising Mick was smiling to himself.
âThat makes two of us then.â
Little did you know, this was the start of something bigger.
â
â
â
From then on, the two of you just grew closer and closer. He would bring you around on his bike.
You remembered how you didnât have a helmet so you had to use his spare race helmet. But when your birthday came, Mick had gifted you your own even though you didnât ask for one. You were happy nonetheless because it meant more rides around with him.
The two of you were always caught on camera always together, like that time in Singapore when it was raining. The camera caught Mick rubbing your sides so that you would warm up. They even caught Mick hugging you from the back whilst you were talking to Toto. You remembered this day clearly because you managed to clinch a Mercedes 1-2 with Mick by your side.
It was like the two of you were joined at the hip, everywhere he went, you were there and vice versa. Even during the drivers briefing, he would sit next to you even when there were plenty of empty seats all around.
And when you won your first podium, Mick was there, cheering you on the loudest.
After you came down from the stage, he immediately engulfed you in a hug, congratulating you, not even caring that you were sticky from the champagne.
Of course, not far behind were his mom and his sister, who were already walking towards you with open arms, ready to congratulate you.
âLiebling, darling, now you have no excuses not to come for dinner. Come, letâs celebrate your win!â
You looked over to Mick, he was smiling at you with his gleaming green eyes, hopeful that you would accept his motherâs offer.
âCmon y/n!â Gina says.
âOkay okay, ich komme! Iâll come!â
She goes wide eyed, âYou can speak german?â
You laughed at her reaction, âA little.â You pursed two fingers together. âMick is teaching me, Iâm still learning!â
She looks over to Mick, whispering something to him.
Mick chuckles, âIch weiss. Ich werde versuchen Mama,â was all you heard. But that didnât do you much good did it? I know⊠something-something⊠Mama.
Good god this was definitely a sign for you to take up German so you can understand the gossip between Mick and his mom better.
You looked at Gina, hoping she would translate it to you.
âDonât look at me! Iâve no idea what she said to Mick,â
You smacked her arm, âYouâre lying!â
She laughs.
â
â
â
Of course, everyone had their suspicions, but nobody spoke up and you didnât think anything of it. Not until Jack came up to you.
Mick had invited you to come surf with him and Jack. You had always wanted to try surfing so you tagged along.
You were new to this so you really had no idea what you were doing, but lucky for you, Mick was there to teach you the ropes. After multiple attempts, you managed to ride a wave.
âThatâs it! You got it mein schatz!â
After tiredly trying to surf, you decided to take a break, now seated down when Jack came and joined you. Mick was still busy chasing waves.
âY/N,â He says as he sat down beside you.
âJack,â You replied.
âHeâs good, you know.â
âWhat, at surfing? Yeah you got that right.â
Jack shakes his head as he laughs to himself.
âNo, not that you idiot!â He smacks his forehead. âI meant, heâs good for you. And youâre good for him, yâknow?â
âThanksâŠ? Whatâs that supposed to mean?â
He shrugs, quickly walking off after he sips his drink.
You didnât think much of it, brushing his comment off because deep down you knew Mick didnât like you like that.
â
â
â
ABU DHABI
It was finally the end of the season. Last race down, and now you were on your way to spend Christmas with the Schumachers.
Initially, Mick asked where you were gonna be this Christmas and you replied with âat home.â
and he thought home was with your family, but after your Dad passed, home was your flat in Monaco.
He was appalled that you were gonna spend your Christmas, all alone in a flat with no Christmas tree and decorations.
âMein schatz, how about you come spend Christmas with me instead?â
You stopped packing your stuff, âThatâs so sweet of you Mick, but I canât do that. I donât wanna trouble you and your family,â
He gasps, âDer unsinn! nonsense! Mama and Gina would be more then happy to have you around! In fact, they asked if you were coming.â
You smiled, âReally? If itâs no bother to y-â
He interjects by placing a finger on your lips. âPack what you need. Iâll pick you up tomorrow,â
You nodded in response but quickly panicked, âOh my God Mick! I donât have gifts for them!â
He laughs, âDonât worry mein schatz. Those are not important,â
And so here you are, in Switzerland, en route to the Schumacher residence. Gina was driving the car while Mick was asleep behind at the passenger seat. You were seated in front, beside Gina.
âIâm so happy you decided to join us. Mama has been talking non-stop about your arrival!â
You smiled at her remark.
âI really didnât want to trouble your family, but Mick insisted I come when he heard I was gonna spend Christmas alone,â
Gina chuckles, âI think my brother has taken a liking to you, donât you think?â She turns to look at you for a second before quickly looking back at the road.
âYeah youâre not the first to say thatâŠâ
â
â
â
After you insist you help to clean up dinner because thatâs the least you could do, you excused yourself, making your way to the balcony where it overlooked the huge backyard. Not to mention, the stars were particularly bright that night.
You leaned over the railing, looking at the scenery upon you, taking it all in, realising this is probably one of the best (if not the best) Christmasâ youâve ever had. Your eyes welled with tears, extremely grateful to have spent Christmas with Mick and his family and not alone, sipping your sorrows away on a glass of wine.
You were so engrossed in your own feelings you didnât even realise Mick was standing in the doorway.
âYou okay mein schatz?â He asks as he walks over to you, hugging you from the back as he places his head on the crook of your neck.
You quickly wiped your tears, âIâm good. Just happy. Thank you Mick,â
He smiles, âDonât worry about it. Weâre happy to have you here.â
He lets go of the hug, walking off but he quickly returns with a mug.
âHere,â He says, passing you the mug. âMama made hot chocolate,â You took a sip, moaning because it was delicious and it was just what you needed.
He suddenly giggles when he looks at you.
âWhatâs so funny?â You start to giggle when you heard him giggle.
âY-you have a lilâ s-something,â He says mid laughter, pointing to your upper lip.
âOh here?â You said as you touched your upper lip. âYouâve got a little something too!â You said as you point at his upper lip.
The both of you laugh, realising that you each had a foam moustache.
âCome here,â Mick gestures and you leaned forward. He swipes his thumb over your upper lip, wiping the foam away, afterwards sucking it clean off his thumb.
âThere, no more moustache.â He smiles.
Flustered at his sudden action, âW-what about you?â You asked, trying to play it cool. He quickly licks it clean.
âYouâre so silly Mick,â You smiled at his antics.
âYeah? Tell me something I donât know,â
Unbeknownst to you, Corinna and Gina caught this little moment.
âGlaubst du, dass Micki sie mag? Do you think Micki likes her?â Gina whispers to her mother.
âMag sie? Dein Bruder ist verliebt. Likes her? Your brother is in love.â Corinna whispers to Gina.
Gina lets out a soft chuckle, âGlaubst du, sie weib es? Do you think she knows?â
Corinna chuckles, âIch glaube nicht, dass sie es wissen. I donât think they know.â
âSollten wir etwas dagegen tun? should we do something about it?â
Corinna shakes her head.
â
â
â
Now back home in Monaco, you were unpacking your luggage when you suddenly spot a paper bag youâve not seen before.
Curious, you took it out, opening it to reveal the contents inside.
There were a pair of white Chanel fluffy slides (you took a liking to them after seeing Gina wearing a black pair), a framed photo and a small square box.
It was a photo of a 1-2 podium of you and Mick back in Singapore. There was writing on the glass, âTo many more wins with you, mein podiumssitter! :)â
You smiled, proceeding to open the small square box, only to realise it was a necklace of the Circuit de Monaco, your favourite track, and also where you got your first podium.
You shook the bag just to make sure there was nothing else inside but to your surprise, an envelope came dropping out.
It was a letter from Mick.
âI remember the day we met. You always think itâs on that conference call but you were wrong!
It was on that day when we had to do the pre season shoot. I remember I had no one else to talk to that day other than Toto, but as soon as you waved at me, I knew that we would be the best of friends. Never would I have thought that Iâd be here⊠writing you this.
We have been friends for some time now; and not one day has gone by without me thinking of you. And when I do, the biggest smile comes across my face. I feel warm all over whenever iâm with you.
I thought this would pass, but when you came over and spent Christmas with my family I knew that this wasnât something temporary.
You mean so much to me. I donât know how to tell you face to face so I am going to put my feelings into words on a paper.
Mein schatz, ich habe mich schon vor so langer zeit in dich verliebt, und obwohl ich nicht weib, was du fĂŒr mich fĂŒhlst, könnte ich keinen weiteren tag verstreichen lassen, ohne dir zu sagen, was ich empfinde.
(My treasure, I fell in love with you so long ago and while I don't know how you feel about me, I couldn't go another day without telling you how I feel.)
Lots of love, Mick.â
You jaw was now on the floor. This is unreal, absolutely unreal.
You quickly took your phone, clicking his contact, calling him up.
The line rings, and rings, and finally,
âSchatz,â Mick says, in a sleepy voice.
âMick,â Your voice cracks.
âSchatz? Ist alles in Ordnung? is everything okay?â You hear ruffling on his side.
âMick, Ich⊠habe mich⊠auch in⊠dich verliebt. I fell in love with you too. Did I say that right?â You struggled your way through the sentence, stuttering like an idiot.
Mick lets out a soft chuckle, afterwards the line goes silent. âWait, you feel the same?â
âYes silly! That is why Iâm calling you!â
You heard whoops and cheers from him. He quickly clears his throat, âIâm glad I listened to Mama,â
âWhy?â
âRemember she whispered something to me? That day when you got podium in Monaco?â
âYeah?â
âShe said âsie ist ein guter Mick, ich mag sie. Behalte sie, ja?â Which means, sheâs good Mick. I like her. Keep her will you?â He chuckles as he recalls back to that day.
You let out a soft chuckle, âGosh I should really start learning German so I can better understand the gossip happening around me,â
Mick laughs, âMeine leibe, as long as youre with me you donât have to worry about that,â

Y/N: Meet me at the auditorium after you finish class? Iâll be helping the Jeongyeon and the girls with their Vocal project and then we can go to the library.
Jihoon rereads your text for the fifth time as he makes his way towards the auditorium with a sigh, looking up at the sky as the sun tries to peek out from behind the clouds. Itâs a Friday afternoon, Ji-ah has just sent him off with a kiss and a smile as she leaves campus to take the train back home to her family as per usual, leaving him alone for the weekend. He winces into direct sunlight with a scowl before trudging inside the large building.
Jihoon blinks at the sound of five distinct voices harmonizing together on the empty stage, and he recognizes that the voices belonged to your five girlfriends, Jeongyeon, Jihyo, Momo, Dahyun and Nayeon. He spots you sitting at the piano at the side of the stage, playing a simple melody as the girls sing into the empty theatre. He is captivated at how well the girlsâ voices all blend together.
âHeaven forbid someone whisper âheâs part of some schemeâ,â Jihyo sings. âYour enemy whispers,â
âSo you have to scream!â The girls harmonize, and Jihoonâs eyes widen as you sing alongside them from the piano, still playing flawlessly.
âI know about whispers,â Momoâs voice is soft and delicate.
âI see how you look at my sister...â Your voice is clear as a bell as your voice projects through the room. Jihoon feels like time has stopped as he hears you.
âDonât!â
âIâm not naive, I have seen women around you,â Dahyunâs voice is deep and angry, singing with emotion, your voice harmonizing behind her. He canât keep his eyes off you.
âDonât think I donât see how they fall for your charms,â Jeongyeon and Jihyo sing together, facing each other and locking eyes.
âAll of your charms!â Everyone sings together.
Theyâre good, Jihoon thinks to himself. Really good.
âIâm erasing myself from the narrative,â the girls all sing in a ladder, overlapping each other with precision.
âLet future historians wonder how Eliza reacted when you broke her heart,â their harmonies are on point, Jihoon can feel goosebumps rise on his skin.
âYou have thrown it all away, stand back and watch it,â
âBurn~â
The harmony echoes through the empty seats, Jihoon now sitting at the end of the front row to listen.
âJust watch it all burn,â he keeps his eyes on you, singing full heartedly as you keep playing the piano without missing a beat. Your eyes are glued to the sheet music in front of you as the rest of the girls stay put in their spot.
Jihoon stays quiet in stunned silence as you, alongside your friends sing the rest of the song together in perfect harmony. Heâs shocked at how polished the performance is, you all have clearly put a lot of time and effort into it.
âIf you thought you were mine,â itâs almost like the girls were competing with each other for the best belt for the finale, but at the same time their voices overlapping fits the song perfectly.
âDonât.â The song stops sharply and abruptly.
The girls are all looking expectantly at you, and you turn on the chair to smile at them.
âI think youâre ready.â You beam. âLike seriously, that was the best youâve all sounded yet.â
âReally?â Momo smiles back at you, taking both of your hands in hers.
âReally!â You nod excitedly.
âI personally think we only sound this good because of you.â Jihyo smirks, hugging around you from behind, your laugh echoing in the room as she plants a kiss on your cheek gratefully.
âOh hush, you.â You swat her hands playfully as the others laugh with you.
Your laugh is foreign to Jihoon, but he wouldnât mind hearing it more often, he decides.
âI agree with Ji.â Jeongyeon hums, bumping her hip with yours. âYour voice was just what we needed to make it perfect. Itâs a shame that you have to hide behind that big piano though. We need you center stage with those golden pipes.â
âThen who else will play the music, silly?â You snark back, smiling.
âWe can easily find a backing track, miss smarty pants.â Dahyun raises her eyebrow as Nayeon points to her with wide eyes.
âShe has a point, Bug.â
âAnd risk the performance fucking up because we trusted a machine?â You cross your arms with a pout. âIâm happy behind the piano, you know that.â
âExcuse me!â Jihyoâs voice now booms towards your soulmate, who was now sitting up, startled at the volume of her voice. âThis is a closed practice! Women only!â
âI..â
âYah! Have some decorum!â You throw a bottle of water at her with a laugh. âItâs just Jihoon. We need to go study for Film Studies.â
You roll your eyes with a grin as all the girls rush to grab you. But youâre faster, jumping off the edge of the stage and leaning beside Jihoon with your backpack in hand.
âNo fair! You donât get to steal her away!â Momo whines and stomps her foot, making you laugh and wave at the girls.
âUnfortunately, he does. Unless you want me to fail and stay behind for a year.â You smirk as they all relent. âGood job today, my loves! Same time next week yeah?â You blow them all kisses as they repeat the gesture back to them. âSorry, did I take too long?â You ask your soulmate quietly as he trails out of the auditorium behind you.
âUhh, no.â He finds his voice after a beat of silence, cheeks slightly pink. âNot at all.â Your angelic voice is still ringing in his ears.
âSorry about them,â You wave your hand back at the building. âThey tend to make goodbyes a drawn out affair so I tried to be quick.â
âItâs fine.â He nods, and you release a breath you didnât realize you were holding, walking to the campus library with Jihoon in silence.
Jihoon watches you from the corner of his eye as you walk together, suddenly more withdrawn and quiet. If you were a flower, Jihoon wouldâve thought you just wilted right in front of him.
âDo you think people will sit back and think about that?â
âThis is exactly what this project is about!â You chirp, pushing the laptop towards him. âThink about it. Tony Stark is obviously a fan favourite, both in the comics and the cinematic universe.â Youâre pointing out graphs on the screen. âEveryone was on his side when Civil War came out. I bet you were too.â
âI mean, yeah, I suppose.â Jihoon raises his eyebrow at you.
âWhich brings me back to my point.â This is the most animated heâs seen you be towards him, scribbling down on a notebook in front of you both. âBucky is not to blame for Tonyâs parents death. Yes, he is the one who caused their deaths, but he was under the mind control of Hydra. He was not in his right mind to control his own decision making due to the fact he was literally being controlled by these crazy bastards.â
Jihoon opens his mouth to speak.
âI know what youâre about to say,â you counter before he speaks. âYouâre going to say âbut he still did it.â I mean, he did do it but if I hypnotized you to be a killing machine that you literally couldnât stop yourself from being said killing machine, would you have the power to stop me? The answer is no. Bucky didnât deserve the witch-hunt he was faced with, and Steve was completely justified in protecting his best friend. Bucky even felt guilty about it when Tony confronted him.â
âTony was Steveâs friend too, though.â
âWho he knew for what, five minutes?â You quip back. âIf your childhood best friend made a mistake and spent his entire life in agony against his will, tried to defend himself from your new friend of two years, who would you be picking?â
â⊠you make a point, Choi.â He hums, nodding his head sagely. âYeah, okay, this is good. This will get them talking.â
âAnd itâs perfect, because we can discuss both sides!â You smile. âEven though Iâm on Buckyâs side.â
Jihoon lets out a chuckle, with a little smile on his face. âIâm happy with that idea if you are?â
âReally?â You sit up straight, blinking owlishly. âYou donât have any ideas?â
âI mean, I had a few ideas but they were all pretty one sided. This idea works well because we can say the views from both sides.â
You blink again before giving Jihoon a little smile. His heart skips a beat involuntarily. âOkay, letâs do that then.â
âI can work on the Stark side and you can work on the Barnes side and we can discuss?â Jihoon pulls out his own pen and paper, starting to jot down a few notes. âWe should only do a few ideas now and next week we can meet up to watch the film to draw out some points.â
âSounds good to me.â
You nod your head quickly as you both get to work, the only sounds between you both being your pens and the occasional clicking of the keyboard of the laptop between you both.
Every so often, Jihoon feels like he can feel your eyes on him, but every time he sneaks a glance, your eyes are firmly on your notebook, diligently writing line after line of dot points on your page. It must be his imagination.
Every few moments, he spots you reaching up and rubbing at a spot on your collarbone like you have an itch, and he feels his curiosity growing but decided to leave it be for the sake of the project.
âI heard you were helping out with auditions..â you trail off softly as you walk by Jihoonâs side, two hours after your study session had begun. The sun is setting in the sky now as you shove your hands in your pockets. Youâre standing on the outer side of the sidewalk, feet ghosting over the lip of where the concrete meets the road.
âSure am.â He drawls, kicking at a rock on the pavement. âWhy do you ask?â
âOh, no reason,â You shake your head quickly. âI was just going to ask how itâs going.â Your eyes stay focussed on your feet. Jihoon spots your neck flushing pink.
âItâs not bad.â He shrugs. âBut I donât know how you can work with some of those actors. Almost all of them canât sing for shit.â
You let out a cough as you seemingly choke on your own saliva, a laugh escaping your throat. âTheyâre not that bad, Jihoon-ssi.â
Jihoon feels like itâs so formal when you address him now. There is still the occasional moment you will call him simply Jihoon, but never Oppa. Not since the incident.
âThey are bad when you have to hear the same rendition of âMamma Mia! Here I go again. My my, how can I resist you?â for four hours.â He groans, your amused smile growing on your lips as he speaks. âWhy didnât any of your friends audition? They sound a whole lot better than anyone else who sang.â
At the mention of your friends, you perk up a bit. âBelieve me, Iâve tried. But theyâre happy in their little show choir. I insisted that they would easily get the main role if they just showed up to audition, but they argued with me every step of the way.â You sigh, shrugging your shoulders. âSo, I gave up.â
âHmm, pity.â He hums. âIt wouldâve been better than who theyâre deciding for callbacks.â
You nod along with him, and just as youâre about to respond, Jihoon beats you to the punch.
âYou wouldâve been good, too.â
Your cheeks immediately flush a deep red, turning your head to look away. âUhh, thanks.â
âI mean, it isnât a compliment.â Jihoon retorts. Your shoulders sag. âWell, I mean⊠it is, I suppose.â He immediately tries to mend things. âBut coming from someone who sadly has perfect pitch, you, Jeongyeon and the others were the best singers Iâve heard all month.â
âThank you, Jihoon-ssi.â You smile softly at your soulmate before flinching and taking a quick step towards him.
You were standing a bit too close to the road as a car sped past you, almost knocking you off your feet if it wasnât for Jihoon to catch you by the loop of your backpack. He swiftly maneuvers you to walk on the inside of the path, now standing in your original spot without blinking an eye or missing a stride.
âItâs fine.â He acts like nothing happened. âAnd, if itâs too much for your rehearsal, or whatever.. Iâve been trained in piano since I was in middle school. So, uh⊠I could play the backing track for you if you wanted to focus on singing with the girls⊠if you wanted.â It was his turn to turn red as he walked, stammering. He truly didnât intend on offering this to you, he just let it slip out like word vomit. âI donât have anything to do after school on Fridayâs since Ji-ah usually leaves for her family, so I mean if you guys wanted I could help out.â
He was babbling and probably repeating himself now. Oh god, can you please shut him up.
âOh..â your eyes are wide as you stare at him. âI mean, I can check with the girls⊠but are you sure? You really donât have to if you donât want to.â Jihoon feels it. Your nerves begin to swirl in the pit of your stomach, the doubt and worry running through you as you question everything.
âItâs fine.â He insists. âReally, I love playing the piano anyway so this is just like a holiday for me. Honest.â
âThen, yeah.. sure.â You nod slowly as your walking slows as you reach the block before your house. âIâll ask the girls and see. Thank you.â
âSure.â He hums, hands stuffed deep in his pockets.
âAnd⊠uh⊠before you leave.â You pause at your front gate. Jihoon stops and turns to face you, eyebrows raised in curiosity. âSoonie told me to ask you⊠usually this time of year leading up to Cheolâs birthday, we usually go on a big camping trip. This year weâre going to Busan and Jeonghan has told us to invite anyone who we think would want to go.â
Youâre kicking at the invisible dust on the ground. âSoonie knew I was meeting up with you for the project so he told me to ask if you and Ji-ah want to come. Itâs in a couple of weeks from now so you donât have to decide yet, but the offer is there.â
âOh, that sounds fun.â He nods slowly. âIâm from Busan, so thatâd be nice.â
âAnd you guys wouldnât have to worry about getting a ride there!â You insist quickly. âJeonghan is hiring a bus so you guys can just tag along- wait, what did you say?â
âItâd be fun..?â Jihoon repeats himself before you let his words process through your brain. You blink and nod your head quickly.
âOh, okay. Good.â You step inside the gate. âIâll get Soonie to text you the details?â
âSounds good, thanks.â Your soulmate nods again, a ghost of a smile on his face.
âThanks for walking me home, Jihoon-ssi. Have a good night.â You bowed your head before turning around, rushing to the front door of your home.
âGoodnight.â Jihoon mumbles, the door already closed behind you. Once he knows youâre not going to go out again, he turns around and continues his walk home.
âLadybug? Is that you?â You hear Jeonghanâs voice coming from the kitchen.
âYeah. Itâs just me, Oppa.â You call back, stepping into the room and giving him a quick hug.
âItâs late. Did you walk home on your own?â Seungcheol steps into the room at the sound of your voice, hand on his hip.
âNo, I had to study with Jihoon-ssi, remember?â You lean against the counter with a little smile. âHe walked me home, itâs on his way.â
âOh, how chivalrous of him.â He cooed playfully, making you roll your eyes.
âOh please.â You wave your hand. âHe probably only did it because you wouldâve murdered him if he didnât walk me home, or had someone organized to get me.â
âThis is true.â Your brother smirks, reaching out and ruffling your hair. You have a small smile on your face that doesnât go unnoticed by Jeonghan, who watched you with a raised brow.
âHannie-Oppa,â you turn to said man. âJihoon and Ji-ah are confirmed to be coming to Busan too, Soonie invited them.â
âJi-ah?â Cheol asks, tilting his head.
âHis girlfriend.â You mutter, Jeonghanâs eyebrows raising so high up that heâs surprised they havenât touched the ceiling.

movie nights ~ pedri
summary: santiagoâs first movie night with his two favourite people.
more to this mini series can be found on my masterlist :))
when santiago suggested the idea of a movie night with pedri, y/n was skeptical. she knew how busy her boyfriends schedule was and she didnât want to bother him. hell, even her own schedule was hectic, with classes, and extra classes on top of that, and going to the gym.
sometimes she couldnât even work out a time where even her and pedri were free for a little date night. however, it just so happened that her little brother had worked out some time for her.
she didnât even know how smart this little boy was until she was explaining her whole day to him and he was practically pulling free time out of nowhere. no matter what excuse she threw at him, he shook his head and found a way, which honestly was quite surprising for a kid who spent most of his day either kicking a ball around or playing on his ipad.
in the end, y/n reluctantly found that she couldnât say no to his big eyes and adorable, hopeful smile. he held the remote to the tv in his hand, already comfy in his sweatpants and hoodie, so she agreed and called pedri over.
santiago was so happy. pedri had stayed over lots of times before, but majority of those times had been in his sisters bedroom doing whatever the hell grown-ups did. he was still relatively new to their relationship, albeit very comfortable with it, he felt a different sort of connection with pedri.
he was like an older brother to him and he wanted to spend as much time with him as he could.
santiago opened up the movie heâd been wanting to watch as he waited. he had also grabbed the biggest blanket in the house and set it down on the couch, already comfortably sitting between it.
it wasnât long till pedri got there, and the little boy greeted him with the biggest hug and most excited smile ever. pedri couldnât hold back his own smile due to how contagious the younger ones was.
overtime, pedri had come to realise the little soft spot he had for santiago.
he thought of him as a younger brother, even though he had only known him for a few months so far. he loved his passion for football, just like him, how excited he got at any opportunity to play or talk about or watch football. he also loved the immense respect he held for his family. being the youngest in the family also, pedri adored how well-mannered and respectful the little boy was.
âpedri!!! im so excited you came!â santiago pulled away from the hug and looked up at him with a grin.
âhow could i say no to you, hm?â pedri pinched his cheek. he took his shoes off and allowed santiago to pull him into the living room where the lights had been dimmed and the couch had been fluffled to the brim with pillows and one large blanket.
âwow, you did all this, santi?â
the boy gave a proud grin in return and jumped down in the middle of the couch. he patted the space next to him and pedri happily took the seat.
his arm landed around the back of the couch whilst santiago grabbed the remote. instantly, pedris eyebrows slightly furrowed at the empty seat next to santi, starting to wonder where his girlfriend was.
âdĂłnde estĂĄ y/n?â (where is y/n?)
âaquĂ.â (here.) y/n walked into the living room with some snacks in her hand and a big bowl of popcorn in the other. she shot pedri a warm smile, one which he immediately reciprocated at the sight of her.
she placed the stuff down on the coffee table infront of them before leaning forward to plant a kiss on pedris lips. the older boy hummed into the peck, lips chasing hers as soon as she pulled away. y/n gave him a little look as if to say later, before turning to santi and running a hand over his hair.
âsanti, you picked the movie?â
he nodded in response.
âyou didnât bring the drinks, did you?â
he shook his head, looking back up at his big sister with an innocent pout on his lips. âlo siento, y/n. i forgot.â
y/n ruffled his hair playfully, âitâs okay. iâll bring them. you start the movie.â
santiago only faced forward again. he didnât want to start it yet and therefore waited until his sister was back with the drinks and comfortably settled in next to him, before pressing play.
ïżœïżœâąâą
it was about half an hour into the movie and pedri couldnât help the hand that started wandering towards his girlfriend over the back of the couch.
she was sat so close yet so far, santiago being between the two, and his hands just itched to touch any part of her warm skin. he practically couldnât sit still.
his fingers reached her shoulder and he started playing with the strap of her top. it was an unconscious act, something he didnât pay any mind to as his fingers fiddled with the string. y/n couldnât help the hot blush that started flooding her cheeks at his little action.
normally she wouldnât mind when he started toying with any part of her clothes or hair, but the fact that, even whilst her little brother was sat between them, he still had to be touching some part of her, made her heart flutter.
y/n didnât stop her hand when it reached up to his hand on her shoulder, before she could even think about it. her index finger made contact with his and she slowly let her fingers intertwine with his own.
pedri let her. both their eyes stayed focused on the tv infront of them, yet their hands rested interlocked on y/nâs shoulder, pedri brushing his thumb in little circles over her skin. santiago had also cuddled up to pedri, loving the warmth that surrounded him between two of his favourite people.
pedri had smiled at him, looking down at him with such adoration in his eyes as his other hand rested on his little body.
santi couldnât deny he was loving every second of this; the atmosphere, the warmth, the love. he didnât want it to end. heâd finally gotten his way and he knew he would definetely be having many more movie nights in the future.

Under the cut:
Shu:
It seemed to be a normal day for Shu. He woke up, to his dismay, and went to school as usual. As he was laying with his back to the wall in one of the school hallways with less light, he listened to his music, eyes closed in his exhaustion. However, he couldn't remember the last time he saw you. Were you even in the car with him when the rest of his brothers and him were on their way? It was strange, since you normally sought him out during this time of the night, when you had some extra time between classes. It made Shu wonder what it was you were doing.
He quicked up the faintest sound of footsteps on his left side, immediately knowing it was his younger brother by the way they sounded. "Here to scold me again for how I'm not in class?" He asked with a sigh. "Bothersome..." Reiji's movements came to a halt and Shu opened his eyes and stared up at him. There was something different about how his brother looked down at his face. "Why are you here?" He questioned, raising a golden eyebrow.
"It has come to my attention... that I must inform you of something..." Reiji muttered, holding his hands behind his back. His eyes darted to the floor, unable to make full eye contact. "This morning, Miss Y/N came into my laboratory." He took a breath that seemed unstable. "I may have bit into her with the mere intention of drinking some of her blood but..."
As he trailed off, Shu's half-lidded eyes widened, looking up at his younger brother in shock. "D-did you...?" Reiji shut his eyes and looked at the blank wall. "You bastard. I know that you despise me, but there was no reason to ki-" He voice broke, the hall was so silent you could hear his labored breathing. With his supernatural speed, he got up and pushed Reiji against the wall, squeezing his neck in his fist. The dark-haired man's eyes widened and his glasses slid down his nose, looking at his older sibling in terror as he tried to breathe. "I should fucking snap your neck. But no, that would be too good for you, wouldn't it?" Warm tears rolled down his face as he blinked them out of his vision and glared at the vampire between him and the wall. "I'll get you back for this, I swear to God." Shu quickly teleported back home and stormed into the empty lab, there you were, your crimson blood all over the table and floor, some of it already dried. The normally wonderful smell made the blonde feel disgusted as he stepped closer, you beautiful face was covered in red and your eyes were wide open. Blood dripped from your slashed neck like a waterfall while Shu held back more tears and brushed your soaked hair out of your face. "I'm so sorry." He mumbled down to you as he held you, your blood staining his uniform. "I really am..."
Reiji:
School was giving Reiji a headache today, his focus wasn't as good as it was regularly. He could barely pay attention to the equations being written on the board, variables started to jumble with other numbers in his head, causing a pressure to form on both his temples. When the bell finally rang, it came to his tired mind that he should have you in his next class. You were always a wonderful study partner, and what is even better is that having you around might boost his mood.
However, that class had come and gone without you seated next to him. So during his free period, he searched for you. But when he couldn't find you, worry hit him like a bus. Thoughts of you escaping and leaving him empty attacked him. He became slightly more frantic until he came across a closet. The scent of your blood filled his senses, alerting him. He opened the door, missing the elegance and grace he normally held himself with.
You were laying on the concrete floor in a pool of your own blood, Reiji could tell you were just hanging on so when he slammed the door shut, he quickly got down on his knees. "Y/N... Whatever in the world happened? Who...?" He trailed off, his eyes zeroing in on the bite mark on your neck. "Shu" He spat with venom, tears forming in the corner of his eyes.
You met his eyes and forced your hand up with all your strength so you could touch his face. "Reiji, there's nothing you can do. You're not going to be able to save me, he hit an artery..."
"Don't tell me there's nothing I can do. I'll say when I can't save you." He retorted, his magenta eyes misty. "I'll save you. If not then-"
"Rei." You muttered, brushing his hair out of his face as he looked down at you. "You really have to learn to let things be... I love you."
The light faded from your eyes immediately and Reiji held back a sound of despair. "I'll bring you back... I don't care about that woman anymore, I'll bring you back to me..."
Ayato:
"Chichinashi! Time for my takoyak-" Ayato cut himself off when the scent of blood filled his nostrils, your blood. It filled the air like a sweet aroma, but Ayato knew them and there was something wrong.
That's when his emerald eyes fell on a hand peeking out from behind the island in the home economics room, he hurried to teleport behind it. You were sprawled out, bleeding from a large bite in your collarbone. It seemed you were even fading in and out of consciousness. "Chichi- Y/N! What? Who...?" Ayato's voice cracked and he slid down on his knees, pushing his arms underneath you and bringing your head up on his lap.
"Ruki tried to bite me, and I tried to fight him off... Didn't really work so well." You coughed, wincing at the pain. Ayato's expression was twisted into worry, and as your vision blurred, you thought you saw tears forming. "I'm sorry, I really tried, Ayato." You whispered, closing your eyes.
Ayato held back a sound of despair, gripping onto your now cold body. "I should be sorry..."
Kanato:
As soon as Kanato noticed your absence in history class, he stood up and walked out the door, not caring what the teacher thought. He gripped Teddy against his chest, the thoughts for everything you could be doing flooding his brain. Was someone else touching you?? He would kill them, dispose of them and then show you why he claimed you. His senses immediately focused on the sweet smell of your blood, his irises swirled with rage as he storms into the otherwise empty women's locker room. You were leaning against a locker, a tired look on your face as red liquid dripped down your neck. Kanato flew into rage, screaming as loud as he could. "Who touched you?! Who?! Why did you let them hurt you?!"
You weakly looked at him and grabbed his hand gently, throwing him off. "Kana, trust me, I didn't want it. I wouldn't do that to you." You muttered, pulling him closer to you, which luckily, he allowed.
"But why!? Why would you let..." His eyes glanced at your neck, recognizing the bite mark. "Azusa of all people! Am I not enou-" Quickly, you pulled his lips to yours, letting him take his anger out through kisses one last time. It felt intense, like two waves crashing against each other one last time before the ocean stopped moving completely.
After a second, you pulled away, a tear falling down your cheek. "You've always been more than enough." You whispered, resting your forehead against his. "Don't yell, spend our last moments together holding me, please."
Kanato dropped Teddy to the floor carelessly and held you carefully until you became just like his other dolls, emotionless, soulless, and dead. "My poor dolly..." He sobbed, burying his face in your blood soaked hair. "I love you."
Laito:
"Bitch-chan~ Ooh! How fun to find you in the Biology classroom! You sure thought that out well~ Did you want to have some study time with your Laito-kun?" Laito chuckled as he peaked into the doorway, only to find you haphazardly spread out on a desk, your blood staining the light wood a dark shade of crimson. His face and stomach dropped and quickly rushed in, placing a finger to your wrist to check your pulse. "Bitc- Y/N, wake up please." He muttered, a rare terrified look on his face.
Your eyes fluttered open and met his green ones. "Lai?" You said, your voice strained. "I didn't want it... I swear, I'd never leave you-" You were cut off by Laito placing a finger to your lips, brushing his thumb against them softly. It was rare to see him like this, it was like he was acting like a normal teenager who was concerned, not your Laito.
"I know... I know, you would never try." He paused, his voice wavering. "You love me, you actually love me, right? You taught me the real meaning..."
You closed your eyes and parted your lips as he pressed a soft kiss to them, his nose grazing yours. "I love you, truly..." You muttered, just before you felt your own body go limp before you could do anything else.
Laito was left, a tear running through his eyelashes and down to your cold cheek. "I do too..."
Subaru:
Subaru laid, next to you, a knife in his hand. You looked at it sadly, before your eyes darted to his. "Subaru, no please. You will be okay without me." You muttered, too low on the energy and blood to raise your voice.
His expression was not something you could read at the moment. You had been unable to focus since Kou had drained you a little too much, your vision was slowly starting to go, and touches were getting fainter, like you were drifting away from reality, from the love you had only just found. "I can't... I can't stay on a plane without you."
"Then it's my last wish..." You pleaded, biting your lip as you touch his hand that was holding the dagger. "I'll be heartbroken if I see you up there the moment I leave."
Subaru exhaled, shutting his ruby eyes before hugging you to his chest, water pouring like waterfalls down his face. As your body untensed, you thought you would leave this world knowing your darling would fall in love again. But before you lost your hearing, you heard him mumble shakily. "I'm not going up there anyway..."

no time for goodbyes - luke hughes
word count: 4,282
a/n: so this is technically the first installment of the coug!read x luke seeing as I still haven't finished the other fic, or even started the fic that is the beginning of coug!luke. but I was in my feels last night, so please enjoy this heart wrenching ficđ«¶đŒ
-
the night had started to wind down for everyone in the sophomore house the minute you had gotten back from student teaching. the boys being exhausted from a monday afternoon practice, and you being exhausted from chasing around six-year-olds for eight hours straight. when your five sophomore hockey players walked through the front door a little after four oâclock they found you passed out on the couch, still dressed in your blue and white checkered and a plain white tee. luke was in charge of carrying you up the stairs to your room so mark and eddyâs disaster of cooking dinner wouldnât wake you from a much-needed rest.
you woke up an hour or so later by lightly shaking you awake. mumbling a soft, âmarky and eddy made dinner for us, coug.â to which immediately woke you up based on the fact the last time mark and eddy tried making dinner you almost no longer had a house due a kitchen fire. you stumbled around the practically empty bedroom, minus the boxes stacked up in the corners, before groggily booking it down the stairs to make sure everyone was still alive.
when you ran into the kitchen and dining room area the other four were seated around the dining table in their unofficial seats, smiles on their faces waiting for you to finally join them in order to have one of the last meals together as a found family. after practice tomorrow they were departing to the airport right from yost in order to get on the plane to tampa. meaning that this was it. this was the last meal with all five of them together as once michigan was done so was luke. he was to board a plane straight from tampa to newark and the last two years at michigan would officially be in the books for the youngest hughes brother. leaving you in a house full of four other hockey boys until it was your turn to join luke in jersey after april 28th: graduation day.
âyou guys made family dinner,â you smiled as the bittersweet words left your mouth. not yet wanting to believe that this was the end of the cherry on top of your time at michigan. âand you didnât even burn the house down. iâm so proud of you.â
there was a chorus of laughter that filled your ears before luke pulled your seat out for you. once he pushed you in all the way he took his seat to the left of you, sitting so he was for the last time eating a meal between two of his favorite people - you and dylan. the conversation between bites of the steak, mashed potatoes, and caesar salad was almost nonexistent. everyone in an unspoken agreement to just sit there and soak it all in. of course small talk was eventually made as mackie made you a glass of wine, claiming that it was well deserved even though it was only monday. he knew how hard you were taking everything, you may not have told him directly, but he knew. all of the boys knew. while this was lukeâs last week of college hockey, it was also the last week everything would be semi-normal regarding your relationship. the nhl and the demanding schedule an obvious looming fear to both of you.
the conversation died out after hearing how practice went and the six year olds who had crushes on you found out you would be leaving them soon. and soon one by one all of you dismissed yourself from the table. mark being first, trying to get out of dish duty. eddy followed second, taking everyoneâs dishes as he went. dylan sprinted away afterwards as if filming a monday questions video. leaving mackie, youself, and luke. you were the next to fall, not wanting to be, but ultimately knowing you had too much to do in order to prepare for missing all of your classes thursday and friday in order to be in tampa. your left hand squeezed lukeâs right, as your right hand ran over the discolored wooden table. ââve gotta head up, lukey,â you whispered over to him. a sad smile taking over your face while you stared at him as you tried to read the expression on his face. praying his blue eyes would give you a little insight into what he was thinking. he hummed before turning to look at you. âget out of my work clothes, shower,â you then explained. âgo through your bags to make sure you have everything.â
the last part earned a laugh from mackie seeing as he had done the same for both mark and eddy. duker being too stubborn not allowing anyone to double check for him. âgoodnight y/n/n, see you tomorrow?â mackie asked with a hopeful smile.
shaking your head you frowned, âiâve got school.â instantly the rain cloud that had a hold over the room became even heavier at your words. âi wonât see you guys until thursday. iâm in the middle of teaching during the send-off, and since iâm already missing thursday and fridayâŠâ you trailed off at the end, not having the heart to speak anymore. too afraid that you would break down in the middle of the dining room if you did.
âi get it,â mackie answered with a sweet smile. âweâll see you thursday, mom.â
nodding your head you turned your attention back to your boyfriend. âiâll be up soon, cougy,â he mumbled, eyes meeting your for a split second before he looked back at the table. the use of âcougyâ instead of âcougâ was what tipped you off to what was going on inside of his head. he was reaching his emotional breaking point.
âokay, lu.â he leaned down and pressed a kiss against the top of his curls before turning to look back at mackie, ânight macks. take care of everyone for me until thursday, yeah?â he gave you a final salute and thatâs when you started your terk upstairs to the empty bedroom once more. it made your heart heavy to walk into a room that was normally so full of life, reflecting yours and lukeâs personalities, packed away into boxes like it had been since the end of the big ten tournament. between preparing for regionals, classes, and student teaching luke and you were busy packing up your lives at the mere fact that his season couldâve ended two weeks ago meaning you had to be prepared in case that was to happen.
you let out a deep sigh and walked into the empty room, slowly closing the door behind you so nobody could hear as your walls came crashing down faster than you could piece them together. the shower was where you choose to break down for the night. already knowing that luke would leave you to yourself once he came into the room since he had showered at yost after practice, and knew you needed this time to decompress. so thatâs exactly what you did. you sat under the scolding hot water letting the tears stream down your face as you silently sobbed over your college life that was coming to an end. over this being lukeâs last week as a michigan wolverine. at how after his nhl debut you wouldnât see him again until graduation, something you needed to bring up to him and talk about as the devils would be in the playoffs and there was no way youâd let him miss anything hockey related just to watch you walk across a stage.
when you finally got out of your depression shower, luke was already camped out in your bed. the comforter was pooled around his waist, his bare chest on full display for you. just waiting for you to climb in next to him. âhow was your shower, coug?â his voice was tight as he asked the question, and you wondered if this was when it finally happened. if this was the moment luke finally allowed himself to come to terms with the whirlwind of emotions he was currently experiencing.
âit was nice,â you answered honestly. âhelped me clear my mind.â right away you knew luke would understand what you were getting about. slightly hoping that he would take it as a subtle hint that he too could confess everything he was going through to you. instead, all you got back from him was a small hum of acknowledgment, eyes downcast on his phone screen. after changing into your pajamas which consisted of lukeâs boxers and a worn-out ntdp t-shirt, you crawled into bed next to him. arms immediately wrapping around his torso, head falling against his chest. âi never got around to looking through your bag to make sure you have everything,â you said to break the silence of the room. âiâm not that worried though,â you added on, âi mean everything you needed was the only things you could pack. you just have to remember your chargers in the morning before you go to practice. i can text you in the morning to remind you if you want.â
when luke didnât answer you thought maybe he had fallen asleep. it wouldnât have been the first time the worn out hockey player fell asleep while in the middle of a conversation with you. only that wasnât the case this time. you could feel from underneath its resting place as his heart rate began to increase. his breathing beginning to follow in itâs footsteps. âhey lukey, baby, we gotta sit up. can you sit up for me?â you asked, already knowing what was about to happen. luke was on the verge of a panic attack, everything hitting him all at once. the packed boxes. the final practice at yost is tomorrow. an elc in his future.
ââm okay,â he choked out between ragged breaths. âjust, just stay here. just lay here.â you knew he was referring to you staying situated on his chest, feeling the safest when he had you cuddled up on top of him.
shaking your head you propped yourself up instantly. throwing your legs on either side of his waist in order to straddle his lap. âno, no luke i need you to sit up for me. okay? can you do that for me, baby?â you asked while staring down at him. his eyes were screwed shut, knowing that if he had them open you would be able to see how red and puffy they were. his final moments of sitting at the kitchen table after family dinner ended causing everything to hit him like a freight truck. âluke, iâve got you,â you whispered, hands cupping his cheeks, âbut i need, you have to sit up for me. please.â you were disparately pulling him into a sitting position, letting his head fall against your chest. his arms wrapping around your waist in a bone-crushing hug. âiâve got you. i have you, lukey. itâs okay. iâm right here. youâre safe. just, just get it out. deep breathes.â your words were muttered into the top of his curls, as you soothingly ran a hand up and down his back. the other laced in the curls at the nape of his neck. âi love you. iâm here. youâre okay. iâve got you, lukey.â
âi- i, i start playing in the nhl as soon as saturday,â he finally spoke. voice cracking as he did so, his breathing slowly coming back to a normal rhythm. âtomorrow⊠tomorrowâs my last ever practice at yost. tonight was the last family dinner.â you could feel your own heart breaking all over again at his words. shattering even more so as you knew there was nothing you could say or do to make things better. âour fucking bedroom has been packed up to leave for two weeks!â his hold on you got tighter with each realization. your presence being enough to ground him in this instance for him to get all of his emotions out before it was too late. âcougy, this is it. itâs my final week of college hockey.â it took all the strength in his body to force his head up to look at you. his blue eyes as clear as glass due to the tears that were pouring down his cheeks. âmy final week of seeing you every single day until i retire, which will be what? like ten-fifteen years from now?â
you squeezed your eyes shut in order to prevent the tears from slipping out. forehead dipping down to rest against his, âitâll be okay, lukey. weâre going to make this work. you have to take the good and the bad. thatâs what youâve been telling me since january right?â just barely his forehead moved against yours in a nodding motion. âplus itâs me and you, honey. me and you no matter what.â
âyou and me,â he whispered against your lips. you could taste the salt from his tears that were staining his cracked lips with every word he spoke. âbut coug, i just. this is it. itâs over. and, and i donât even get to say goodbye to you tomorrow. youâll be gone before i wake up, and i wonât see you until thursday. and - and if we lose itâll be for nothing.â
âit wonât be for nothing, luke warren,â you corrected with a pointed look. âeverything youâve done, everything iâve chosen to do in order to watch you play this year has not been for nothing, luke. i do it because i love you. because there is nobody out there more proud of you than me,â you confessed with a small smile, âjust donât tell your parents i said that.â your little jab jim and ellen caused a small smile to grace lukeâs face as well. âif you lose on thursday, which youâre not going too, then we get on a plane and we go to jersey. you get on the team plane and go to boston, and iâll fly out with your parents. weâll be there for you first ever fucking nhl game, and iâll be there standing and waiting for you. tears streaming down my face just like after you scored your hat trick. you know why?â
he shook his head, âno. why?â
âbecuase i love you,â you answered. âbecause the last three years of my life have been the best years of my life because iâve spent them loving you. officially i mean. but what youâre feeling right now luke? itâs normal. itâs healthy. it means that we have met some incredible people who we are so lucky to have in our lives. people that are always going to be there for us, no matter what happens in the future.â
he let out a shaky breathe while he let his eyes meet yours once more. âyou graduate college in twenty-five days. and then youâre mine. in jersey, and everything will be okay again. iâll be there to watch you walk across the stage, and then weâre together, never apart again.â
your heart was in your throat at his words, knowing that there was no better time to bring this up than right now. âabout graduation, lu, youâre going to be in the playoffs. as much as i want you there, you canât be if you have something hockey related. especially if you have a game scheduled for it.â the way his arms loosened around your waist is how you knew you struck a nerve within the nineteen-year-old. âi just! having our parents there will be enough for me. and as soon as the ceremony ends we can have a devils watch party at your house! cheering on my favorite boy, and my best friend.â
lukeâs face hardened with every passing second. not at all thrilled by what you had said. âiâm not missing your college graduation, y/n,â he grumbled, clearly frustrated by the fact you had suggested such an outrageous thing. âyou realize youâre the only one of us whoseâs going to graduate college and have a degree, right?â by that you knew he was referring to quinn, jack, himself and you. the four of you being thick as thieves since you grew up next to each other. you and jack have been best friends since your shared birthday, as well as the fact your mothers were best friends. âhow could i miss that? miss the love of my life getting her degree that sheâs worked her ass off for the past four years to get it? no, absolutely not. iâm coming to graduation on the twenty-eighth. game or no game. end of discussion.â
it was no secret to either of you that you had more to say on the topic, but you knew when luke was set on something he was going to do it so you dropped it. âokay, youâre coming to graduation. but as soon as itâs over weâre getting on the first flight newark, got it?â
âgot it, coug,â he agreed with a smile growing on his face. his head dropped back to rest against your chest once more. his tears pooling into the already wet fabric. âdo you think i - i mean, do you think we can do it this week. win the natty? push my rookie game back until the eleventh?â
âof course i think you can do it, moosey,â you answered with nothing but certainty. âthereâs nothing you guys canât do. you know that.â
he let out the breath that he was holding in. nuzzling his head further into the cotton fabric that smelled just like you. âiâm sorry i acted like the world was falling apart tonight. itâs just, i never thought weâd actually get to this point,â luke confided in you. âit always seemed so far away, like weâd never actually make it to this day. but now itâs here, and i feel like thereâs still so much i havenât done with the guys. so much i havenât done with you, coug.â
you dropped your head to rest against his fluffy curls, taking a deep breath in to smell his shampoo and conditioner. âdonât apologize my sweet boy,â you cooed, kissing the top of his head. âi mean i just broke down in the shower before you got in here. itâs okay, i promise you. itâs a little scary, yes, but you have nothing to regret, lukey. you have left such an incredible impact on everyone here and mich, and youâre going to be so fucking missed. fuck, iâm going to miss you those two weeks before i get to see you at graduation.â
âdonât remind me about that,â he groaned, head diving forward so you were now laying on your back and he was on top of you. a squeal left your mouth from the action, cradling his head closer to your chest. âthose two weeks are literally going to be hell, cougy. weâve never been apart for that long before.â humming you ran your hands through his hair. trying to find the right words in order to try and calm his nerves about it. âare you going to be able to survive without me for that long, y/n/n?â
âgod no, lukey. how am i supposed to fall asleep in an empty room with you not here to hold me?â
you could feel the frown form on his face through the t-shirt. âiâll call you every single night. make sure that you get to sleep. no matter how much jack chirps me, i donât care. and if, you know, the depression gets a little too much in those two weeks, just go climb into bed with duker. or make a bed in mackieâs room.â
a cold shiver ran through your body at the thought of you sleeping in the same bed as dylan. of course, itâs something youâd done before with him being your college best friend. sometimes it was because he needed to comfort of someone other than his boys, someone who would actually listen to what he was feeling and try and help him through it. other times it would be because luke was busy and you were on the verge of crumbling apart. it was in those times dylan would make it a mandate you slept in his room where he could keep an eye on you before luke got home. in fact, youâve slept in every room of the sophomore house. taking turns making sure your college children werenât sad or just being there in case they needed the gentle loving that only you could offer them. âew absolutely not!â you laughed. lukeâs head tilting up to look at you with a smile. âi donât want to step foot in that room. we donât know what goes on in there anymore. itâs definitely highly unsanitary.â
a chuckle fell past lukeâs lips before he rested his head in the crook of your neck. his breath fanning against your skin, lips just barely grazing the skin there. âyou could always have him sleep in here.â
you shrugged your shoulders. âi was thinking about just going home,â you mumbled, almost as if you were scared to admit that you wanted to spend the last two weeks of your college career in either yours or lukeâs childhood bedroom. âi love the boys, and i love being here. but i just, i feel like it might be better for me to stay at home. i mean iâll have your parents, my parents. being here just wonât be the same without you, lukey.â
the sudden confession you had just made was pulling on lukeâs heartstrings. âwould you drive to school and teaching?â you nodded your head ever so slightly, eyes growing heavy with each passing second. the physical and emotional exhaustion finally hitting you once more. âyou could always take my car too if you wanted. just so youâre not constantly using your own.â
yawning you smiled, âi was already planning on it, lukey.â your eyes were closed when luke looked back up at you, and he could feel as your breathing began to even out from underneath him. âi love you, luke.â
multiple kisses were pressed against the skin of your neck and jaw, pulling a smile on the corners of your lips. âi love you too, y/n/n. get some sleep, okay, cougy? iâll be here when you wake up tomorrow.â and with that you drifted off to sleep for the final time in a full sophomore house.
when you woke up in the morning to the sound of your alarm part of you was confused as to how your phone got in the room seeing you donât remember ever grabbing it off the coffee table after your post-school nap. only to remember that luke thought of everything when it came to you and without a doubt brought it up when he came up from dinner. reluctantly you carefully slid yourself out from under the dead weight that was lukeâs sleeping body in order to get ready. grabbing a throw blanket you carefully tucked him in, allowing him the chance to sleep in until his own alarm went off to start his day.
getting ready you were stuck in a whirlwind of emotions as you remembered you wouldnât see any of the boys until thursday morning, having chosen to surprise them by flying out wednesday night rather than thursday morning like you originally told them all. once dressed and ready to make your way to the elementary school you were student teaching at you sat down at your desk, slipping on your cartier ring luke had gifted you along with the necklace that adorned his favorite nickname. your attention then turned to the post-it note stack, maize yellow of course. grabbing the navy blue pen you had resting beside it you scribbled out two final notes for your boyfriend and the boys you considered your children.
lukey, i love you so incredibly much iâll see you on thursday. youâre going to do amazing this week, take it all in. text me when your boarding and when you land. iâll meet you in tampa, moosey. me and you, sweet boy. - coug<3
after writing both notes you stuck lukeâs against his phone he had plugged in on his bed side table. running back to press a kiss against his cheek. a smile pulling on his feature even though he was sleeping. âi love you, lukey,â you then whispered into his ear. kissing the top of his head one last time before you carefully slipped out of your bedroom. the next and final stop in the early morning hours of the house was the front door. you were frozen as you stood there waiting to walk out, knowing if you didnât leave now you would be late to school after running to starbucks. so you forced yourself to put the final note up on the door.
to my hughes wedding bridal party, make sure you have absolutely everything- CHARGERS!!! now that thats out of the way, know that win or lose iâm always going to be proud of you guys. thank you for the past year, thereâs nobody else i would want to life willingly with. iâll see you in tampa! love you guys. - coug⊠aka mom<3
you stared at the note for a minute longer than what was necessary, tearing beginning to well in your eyes before you forced yourself to open the front door. taking a deep breath you pulled it closed behind you, as well as closing the door on the last four years of life.

Hey pookies! I attempted to write a fanfic for the first time in five years. I hope y'all like it! đ«¶đŒ
âź â ËïœĄđŠč âïœĄÂ°â©
Dr. Robert Chase x (Fem)Reader
âčâ Ëâ§ïž”âżâàšà§ââżïž”â§ Ë ââč
This party is shit
Sitting in an empty corner, I try to avoid interacting with anyone at this stupid company party.
Wish we could dip
I only showed up because I thought I might finally have the confidence to talk to him.
Go anywhere but here
Four hours in and I still haven't even gone in his vicinity.
Don't take a hit
Everyone around me, black out drunk. I can't believe people acted like this around their coworkers. I can't believe doctors would act like this around anyone.
Don't kiss my lips
Unable to see him, but I still hoped he hadn't gotten himself black out drunk like others at this party.
And please don't drink more beer
Catching a glimpse of him, I see him head to the refreshment tables; which I was sitting directly behind.
Imma crawl out of the window now
Without thing, I jump out of the closets window. I couldn't bare to interact with him in a place like this; what was I thinking?
Cuz I don't like anyone around
I can't believe I just did that. Letting it all sink in; Not only I did I come to party for a boy but I jumped out of a window too. I'm so stupid.
Kinda hope you're followin' me out
I stand up and dust myself off, I look back through the window. His eyes meet mine, I blush; realizing now he watched me up through the window. My flusteredness quickly turns to panic.
Cuz this is definitely not my crowd
After a couple seconds of staring, he walks out view. SHIT!
Nineteen but you act twenty five now
Trying to figure out how I'm going to deal with this. The front door swings open and I see a tall figure making his way towards me.
Knees weak
I froze in fear wondering what I would say to him.
But you talk pretty fly wow
"Hey, are you okay? The party is inside." He says with a small laugh, trying to make small talk.
Ripped jeans and a cup that you just downed
I look him up and down before responding, "Uh yea, I'm fine."
Take me where the music ain't too loud
"Let me guess, too loud, too many people, not a drinker?" He winks at me. "All of the above," I respond unable to look him in the eyes.
Trade drinks
He hands me the water bottle, he had grabbed for himself. "Here take it," he hands me the bottle and I accept. I thank him for the kind gesture.
But you don't even know her
"I've seen you around the office but never got a chance to speak to you. I'm Dr. Chase, and you are?" He says taking a seat in the grass next to me. "(Y/N)" I respond still a little nervous and kind of glad he had notice me around.
Save me 'til the party is over
"So what's a pretty girl like you doing a party and not living it up?" He smirks. "Pretty girl?" I think to myself blushing at his comment. "Oh I just figured maybe should try putting myself out there, but I think I made the wrong choice." I respond shyly. "Putting yourself out there aye? Does that mean you're single?" His questions get more mischievous. My face turns bright red. "I didn't mean it like that, but I am single" I stutter trying to keep my composer as to not let him find out; I came to this party for him. He perks up at my answer. "Well then, I hope you don't mind me doing this." I didn't get the chance to ask him what "this" was.
Kiss me in the seat of your rover
He grabs my chin and pulls his face to mine. Only centimeters away, he smirks at my obviously flusteredness; he pulls me into a kiss.
Real sweet
Without another word, he drops a piece of paper in my lap with his number. He walks back inside, while I sit here stunned at what just happened.
But I wish you were sober
Tomorrow is going to be a crazy day back at the office.

Fall into the night
As I gaze into you
Her figure demanded JJâs attention as soon as she entered the room, her legs exposed as she waltzed through the house in a pink dress - one which happened to be JJâs favourite. The dress was held up by two flimsy straps tied into bows on her shoulder; one flick of his fingers and it would fall off. He was determined to make that happen tonight.
She fiddled with her fingers as she met his gaze from across the room. His blue orbs were sparkling with something she couldnât quite place. He watched as her line of vision shifted to empty seat beside him, and he had to bite his tongue to suppress a smile. The blonde patted the empty space next to him with zero hesitation.
The rest of the party seemed insufficient to him as she began walking towards him, her dainty figure looking delectable as he shamelessly let his eyes roam around her body.
She pretended not to notice his stare as she took a seat beside JJ on the couch. His aftershave invaded her senses as he turned to face her, an intense look laying behind his eyes that made her feel hazy.
âHas anyone ever told you itâs rude to stare?â She says, fiddling with her rings in order to avoid his gaze. Usually, she was a confident girl. But JJ just knew how to turn her into a nervous wreck, and she hated it.
JJ took notice of her flustered state, ashamed of the fact he fucking loved to see her squirm. âIs that why you wonât look at me?â He says, a teasing tone in his voice as he draped his arm along the back of the couch, his fingers dangerously close to her shoulder.
Her heart skipped a beat as she turned to face him, her cheeks stained with a faint redness as she took note of the crooked smile which graced his features. He was so beautiful.
âHappy now?â She questions, fluttering her eyelashes innocently at him. That depends if your coming home with me tonight, he thought, but he bit his tongue. They were just supposed to be friends after all.
He didnât even need to respond, his eyes said everything she needed to know. His fingers inched closer to her shoulder, and she almost gasped when he started fiddling with the straps of her dress, mouth agape as she drowns in his blue orbs. He was suddenly thankful they were in a room full of people, otherwise he wouldnât of been able to stop himself from tearing the flimsy material straight off her.
She bit her lip as his fingers traced circles on her shoulder, her smooth skin burning his insides. It was a simple gesture of affection, but it drove her absolutely insane, and it dawned on her then that this man could absolutely ruin her if he wanted to.
And my god, did he want to.
I wish I could live without you
But you're a part of me
JJâs jaw clenched as he sat on the couch of the chateau, taking a swig of his beer to try and calm himself down. She turned up about 20 minutes ago, but unlike all the other times, she wasnât alone. It felt like all of the air was sucked out of his body the moment they walked through the door. He just couldnât fathom the fact that she was here with someone else.
He didnât recognise the guy, but it wouldnât have mattered anyway. It wasnât him.
His blood ran cold as he watched them, her sweet smile leaving a sickly taste in his mouth as she giggled at something the guy said. He once thought those smiles were reserved for him, and him only.
He felt disposable in that moment, like a piece of obsolete machinery that no longer needed to be used. These emotions werenât unfamiliar to JJ, thanks to his dysfunctional mess of a family. But that didnât mean it hurt any less.
It was like a part of him was ripped out, a wound that only she could heal. But he couldnât even blame her, they were only friends after all.
John B sat next to JJ on the couch, his smile fading as he observes the emotional wreck that was his best friend. John B followed the shaggy blondes line of vision, and his jaw almost dropped as he saw what he was so focused on. He had never seen JJ so distracted by a girl before.
âNever took you for a simpâ John B says to him, snapping JJ out of his trance. It was an obvious attempt to lighten the mood, but John B knew he evidently failed when JJ scoffed.
âFunnyâ he responds dryly, finding solace in fidgeting with the label on his beer bottle. John B knew then that this wasnât some silly crush, it was more than that.
The brunette had a quizzical look on his face as he came up with a plan, and he wasted no time in putting it into action.
âY/N!â John B shouts, gesturing for her to come over, and JJâs stomach dropped when she turned to them, their eyes meeting briefly.
âJohn B what the fu-â
âJust trust meâ is all he says. And although he trusted John B with his life, he had zero faith in him when it came to this.
JJ stared at nothing as she walked over to them, avoiding her gaze as she stopped in front of them. Her perfume invaded his senses, and it took everything in him to stay still, to not drag her into his bedroom and show her thatâs where she belongs. With him.
âHey guysâ she says, a bright smile on her glossy lips. John B smiled, but her eyebrows furrowed as she trailed her eyes to JJ. He didnât even acknowledge her.
âWhoâs that?â John B says, gesturing across the room to the guy she was with. He was already talking to another girl, and she couldnât help but sigh.
âFamily friend. My mum forced me to bring him here tonight, but he seems more interested in finding someone to swap saliva with then engage in conversationâ she says, and they all watch as he starts making out with some girl.
âSo youâre notâŠâ John B trails off, leaving her to fill in the blanks. Her eyes widened at the implication.
âEw. No way, heâs way too kook for meâ she says, her face contorting with disgust as she considers the possibility.
âReally?â John B says rhetorically, his features bright as the corners of his lips turn upward into a shit-eating grin, turning his head to face JJ.
John B winced slightly as JJ kicked him in the shin. The blonde had never felt so stupid than he did in that moment.
âOkay, someone wanna tell me whatâs going on?â She says, eyes tinged with confusion as she studies her friends faces.
âCanât. Need a refillâ John B starts, getting up from his seat on the worn out couch.
âIâm sure JJ will fill you inâ he says, patting his best friend on the back before retreating to the kitchen.
He felt defeated as she took John Bâs seat, eyes glued to his fingers as if he wanted to make sure they were still there.
âHow the tables have turnedâ she says, a nonchalant expression gracing her features.
âWhat?â He mumbles, his eyebrows furrowing.
âNow your the one who wonât look at meâ
That grabbed his attention then. His features immediately softened as he met her gaze, and suddenly he could breathe again. It was if that one look had melted away all his pain. All of his anger. All of his frustration.
âHow could I not look at you?â He says, a certain intensity laying behind his blue eyes that sent a shiver straight down her spine. She had to suppress a gasp as he ran his thumb over her bottom lip, and her eyes fluttered shut for a second at the contact. It warmed his heart seeing her so flustered, so pure. âYour so fucking beautifulâ
She could have died right then, and she would have been the happiest girl in the world. She came to the realisation then that she didnât want to be touched by anyone else ever again. Only him.
It had always been him.
Wherever I go
You'll always be next to me

fading perfection
4.6k words
genre: angst, fluff
featuring: jack eichel x female reader
warnings: fighting/arguing, jack may or may not punch a wall
note: this is for the jack girlieâs, aka me and @icebound-imagination, and anyone else who wants to come to the jack side đ«¶đŒ - i also didnât proof read much so i apologize for any errors anywhere
Watching the time tick down you were growing less and less hopeful that the cup would be won tonight. The dreaded fear of it all coming down to a game seven becoming more and more of a reality as the game seemed to be going in anything but Vegasâ favor.
You knew that Jack was frustrated, not just from the body language he was showing on the ice but because you knew him like the back of your hand. Having been together so long, youâd learned what made him tick. His anger bound to get the best of him in a situation like this, and you just prayed heâd pull it together for the sake of the team. The game still in reach as the Knights were only down one goal, with ten minutes on the clock being plenty of time for a miracle comeback.
Things had grown chippy as both sides were going to fight until the final whistle. Scrums ensuing after each play was blown dead, the coaches urging both of their teams to hold their composure. Not needing any penalties this late in the game.
You watched Jack from half covered eyes, not wanting to watch but unable to look away. Fixated on him as he skated up and down the ice, a battle in the corner with him and Stoney taking precious time off the clock. Fans banging on the glass urging the Knights to win the battle and get the puck to the net. Sneaky cross checks and punches being thrown out of view from the refs, Jack throwing his weight around to do anything he could to dig the puck free. His face showing how frustrated he was with the other team being able to hold the puck for so long without a whistle.
As the whistle finally blew Stoney and Jack began spitting their criticisms at the refs while Brandon Carlo stepped in to trash talk Stoney. The two of them getting into each other's faces as the Bruins defenseman gave him a cheap shot, Stoney immediately toppling over and grabbing at his forearm.
The fans booing and yelling that no penalty was called, your eyes flashing to Jack as you saw him immediately going after Carlo. He grabbed his stick without a second thought, making contact with Carloâs chest in the form of cross check as he fell over Stoney who was still dealing with his own injury.
The refs stepped in to pull Jack away before a scrum ensued, the Bruins coming to the aid of their defenseman who remained down on the ice.
You watched as Jack was escorted off the ice versus to the box, shaking your head as you knew he had been ejected. The game was surely out of reach now as the Bruins were going to the power play for nearly the remainder of the game.
Less than a minute into the power play David Pasternak scored an empty net goal, putting the Bruins up by two. Burying your face in your hands you hoped it would make it all go away, but as you looked up to the clock you watched as the Bruins scored yet another goal on the empty net.
The fans seated around you booing, not just at the team but also at you. Jackâs name and number plastered proudly on your jacket not keeping it a secret that he was your boyfriend. And despite him often being a hero to this fan base, tonight he was surely enemy number one. His actions having cost the Knights a shot at a possible comeback. While youâd come to experience plenty of trash talk from fans over the years between Vegas and Buffalo, these comments were brutal. Simply doing your best to tune them out as you begged the clock to tick down faster.
The final horn a blessing as you darted from your seat, hurrying through the angered crowd to make your way to the family waiting area down by the locker rooms.
As you waited with the other WAGS, they could see how the game and the fans had affected you. Tears in your eyes as you knew that Jack would surely blame himself for the loss, which he surely could. His emotions got the best of him and who knows how things wouldâve ended up if he couldâve just kept a level head.
The idea of Jack winning the Stanley Cup was something youâd hoped and prayed for since heâd gotten out of Buffalo. The last few seasons being some of the hardest years of his career and life. Youâd seen him go through several ups, with equal if not more downs. None of it being easy. To see him getting hate. To see him be talked about negatively in the public eye. Hearing the comments that were being made constantly when a young athlete failed to meet the sky high expectations set out for him. With just as hard as things were on him, you felt it all just as much. Though never once leaving his side to take it on alone.
And to go through it again, the comments and negativity from the fans. It was difficult to simply brush it off when you know Jack is much better than the person he showed on the ice in that split second rage of anger.
Heâd finally emerged from the locker room, making eye contact with you but not saying a word. No hug or holding your hand on the walk to the car, the silent treatment something you were unfortunately not unfamiliar with.
The drive home was quiet. The only sound filling the void being the run of the engine. You wished Jack would say something. Anything. Just to pretend that things were normal for five minutes before youâd have to wake up and live in reality.
The Knights had lost. The dreaded game seven that youâd hoped wouldnât be needed is in a few days. And right now you werenât even sure youâd get two words out of your boyfriend before then.
Pulling into the driveway you grabbed your key from your bag as you didnât care to wait for Jack to take his sweet time unlocking the door. Needing to get inside and just feel at home, even if the house would feel empty with Jack most likely choosing to be alone with his thoughts.
You watched from behind the kitchen island as he immediately went to turn on the tv, highlights from their game being displayed. Though for the Knights they were more like lowlights.
âCan you talk to me?â
His eyes remained glued to the tv, not even looking at you when you spoke. A sigh leaving your lips as you didnât feel like dealing with him when he was acting like this. Though it was never intentional for him to take out his frustrations on you, it still hurt when he did.
âJack!â
âWhat?â
His voice echoed throughout the house as he shouted back at you, making you jump at the anger behind such a simple word.
âWill you talk to me? Please?â
âAbout what? Iâm sorry that Iâm a little preoccupied with the possibility that the league is gonna suspend me for game seven, so I donât have time for whatever type of emotional talk you want to have right now.â
He shook his head as he tossed the remote on the table as he shut off the tv. No use in watching the recap of the game and seeing his dumb antics on replay as they discussed his possible suspension.
You were sure heâd be fine, guys did worse all the time and got away with it. But that mentality didnât matter to Jack, as all he could think about was being the reason his team lost their shot at the cup.
âThatâs how youâre going to talk to me, and treat me, after I have been by your side through everything? When you were in Buffalo and everyone was against you, I was the only one in your corner. I never once let you believe anything negative that was being said in the media. Or when you had to fight like hell just to try and get the surgery you wanted. I went with you to every meeting, every doctorâs appointment, I even spoke to the Sabres organization on your behalf to fight for you to get the surgery you wanted. I never once made you do any of that alone and now youâre going to shut me out because you chose to be an idiot on the ice tonight?â
âI didnât force you to do any of that.â
Jack spat back at you, his voice low and almost mocking as he stood at the other side of the island. His expression was cold as he stared at you.
âYouâre right, you didnât. I did it all because I love you. I sat in that arena in Buffalo and had hateful things said to me night in and night out because I was your girlfriend and I supported you, even on your worst days. I packed up and moved to Vegas with you because I wanted to continue my life with you. So many things Iâve chosen to give up or push to the side, but Iâd do it all over again and again because I fucking love you. And what type of thanks do I get? Being ignored by you simply because you couldnât control your fucking anger on the ice.â
He smirked as he shook his head, surprised to hear you calling him out on his behavior as it normally wouldnât be your choice to do so.
âYou think I need this shit right now? The last thing I need is my girlfriend bashing me for how I acted out there. I didnât ask for this tonight y/n!â
âThen you shouldâve kept a level head on the ice Jack! I didnât ask for half the shit thatâs come to me simply for loving you and supporting you every night you step on the ice. But I accept it. And if you get suspended, then youâll have to accept that too. But itâs not fucking fair to take your frustrations you have with yourself out on me when Iâve done nothing to deserve that.â
The two of you had closed the distance between you, Jack biting his cheek as you unloaded on him. All of your frustrations and feelings building up over the years as youâd taken on so much to be by his side. And despite seeing how hurt you were, itâs like you were talking to a wall.
âThen leave. If this is too much for you, and itâs not what you signed up for, then fucking leave. Everything isnât going to be sunshine and rainbows all the time. This is my life, my career we are talking about. We had a chance at the cup tonight y/n and we lost. For two seconds can you realize why Iâm so angry? If I canât play next game then what? I will never be able to live down being suspended from game 7 and watching my team lose.â
Your eyes went wide as you listened to him, laughing at his words as in true Jack fashion, he was making it about himself. Not taking the time to hear you out or understand how much you willingly sacrificed to be in his corner. Not because you felt like you had to, or you were forced to, but because you loved Jack and to you it was worth the hardships.
âLeave? Donât you realize if I didnât want this I wouldâve fucking left back in Buffalo? I wouldnât have been trashed online relentlessly for being with you when you ended up being âoverrated and overpaidâ and a disappointment to an organization Jack. Donât you fucking get that? All you care about is yourself, what about how I fucking feel? Stop being selfish long enough to see how much Iâm hurting!â
âShut the fuck up!â
His voice rang in your ears as you flinched, his fist punching through the wall next to you as you stood speechless. Despite arguments being a somewhat normal thing for the two of you, heâd never once gotten physical.
Looking at the wall you immediately were afraid heâd broken his hand, the worry of him being suspended no longer an issue if he couldnât play because of an injury.
His breathing was heavy as he looked from the wall to his hand, as if shocked at himself that heâd gotten to that point.
âFuck!â
Shaking his hand he left the kitchen, retreating to the bedroom and slamming the door. A few muffled expletives poured from his lips as he likely was beating himself up for being so stupid.
You hadnât noticed you were crying until the tears began to fall, hitting the skin on the back of your hand as you moved to see the damage. Tracing the hole that his fist had left, thankfully realizing heâd only punched the drywall and it likely hadnât hurt him too bad. You shook your head, grabbing your keys as you headed out. Not knowing where you were going, but you knew you couldnât stay there.
-
Jack woke up to an empty bed next to him, immediately concerned where you were. The throbbing of his hand reminded him of last nightâs events, making him assume you had slept on the couch.
âBabe?â
He slowly walked into the room, only to see you werenât there. Trying to recall if youâd mentioned leaving the night before, scanning the kitchen for a possible note from you. His eyes noticed the hole his fist had left, mentally cursing himself for letting his anger push him to that point.
The idea of you thinking heâd ever lay a hand on you was one he hoped didnât cross your mind. Jackâs intentions never to hit you, heâd just wanted the fighting to stop. Not able to control his anger as it was instinct to hit something. He wondered if youâd cried when he left the room, if you were now scared of him. The last thing he wanted was to have pushed you to the point that you left.
Checking the time he realized he was running late, needing to be at the airport to catch the flight to Boston in less than an hour. He packed his suit, threw whatever clothes he could find in his duffle bag, and headed out the door.

âEichs, what the hell dude?â
The boys gave him shit for being late to the plane, Jack not paying any mind as he took his seat and pulled out his phone. Checking to see if youâd responded to any of his texts, all of them unread as he switched his phone to airplane mode. Tossing his head back as he could only hope that by the time the plane landed youâd finally respond to him.
-
Jack sat in his hotel room, the conversation with you open on his phone as he kept checking to see if youâd as much as read his texts.
Nothing.
A knock soon came at his door, finally making him look away from his phone for the first time in hours. Noah Hanifin revealed to be behind it as he invited himself in, taking a seat on the bed not occupied by Jack.
âWhat the fuck is going dude? Youâve been quiet since you were late to the plane, your hand is fucked up and it definitely didnât look like that after the game. Everyone is worried about you.â
Jack laid back on the bed, hands covering his face as he groaned. Replaying last nightâs events over and over in his mind, trying to imagine what this present moment would be like had he not been so stupid. Had he not let his anger get the best of him.
âI fucked up Hanny. Bad. And Iâm scared I wonât be able to fix it.â
Noah didnât pry, letting Jack take his time as he could see that whatever was on his mind wasnât something easy for him to talk about.
âY/n and I, we got into it last night. I was being an asshole and she just, all she wanted was to get me to understand her. To know the sacrifices sheâd made being with me, not by force but out of love. But, I wouldnât listen, and I made it all about me. She called me selfish, and I got angry. So I punched the wall. I swear I never meant to do anything like that, and thank god my dumbass didnât hit her. Iâd never be able to live with myself if I wouldâve been that stupid.â
âWell, you are kind of selfish Jack, if Iâm honest.â
Jack shot Noah a look of confusion and frustration, though he should have expected Noah to call him on his bullshit. He was never the type to sugar coat things with Jack, and having known about the things you went through being Jackâs girlfriend, he felt it only right that he defended you.
âJack, I donât think you truly realize how fucking amazing y/n is. Being your girlfriend isnât a walk in the park. This life is not easy on any pro-athletes significant other. The situation in Buffalo was one of the hardest things youâve gone through, and she never once made you deal with any of that alone. None of the negativity being anything she signed up for willingly. But she deals with all of it, the good and the bad, because she fucking loves you dude. She rarely complains about it because whatâs complaining going to do? Add to your stress or your frustrations? Of course she never wants to do that. But, you did act like an idiot last night. And Iâm sure you were an asshole to her, but she doesnât ever deserve that. She goes to bat for you, and Iâm sure for once all sheâd like is for you to stand in her corner for a change.â
Jack sniffled as he felt himself getting emotional at the thought of not having the chance to stand in your corner, to finally be there for you like youâd been needing.
âAnd trust me, if you wouldâve hit her, Iâd be in here beating the shit out of you right now. Thatâs not who you are Jack, and you need to make things right.â
Noah gave Jack a hug, reassuring him that things would work themselves out. Though itmay not be today or tomorrow like Jack would prefer. Real relationships take work, and thatâs all he could vow to do. Work on himself so he can be better, for you, and for each other.
âShe wonât even text me back Hanny, not sure how Iâm supposed to work things out.â
âJack, you punched a hole in the wall. Iâm sure she needs a little bit more time to deal with that. I promise, youâll have the chance to make things right. Just, put the phone down and get some rest please? Weâve got a big game tomorrow.â
-
The morning had come and gone, Jack still not as much as getting you to read his texts. He was starting to worry that heâd gone too far this time. That youâd finally stopped putting up with the difficulties of being with him, that he was too late at being able to fix things.
As he sat in his stall of the locker room, head in his hands as he tried his best to focus, all he could think about was you. How badly he wanted you to be in the crowd cheering him on. The way you always wore his name and number proud, wanting everyone to know you were his girl. He thought about how amazing the moment would be to share with you if they pulled off a win tonight.
But it had been two days, and not a single response from you had come. Jack knew heâd gone too far, punching the wall never something he couldâve imagined doing. And you had every right to be angry with him for acting the way he did. Though heâd hoped that maybe you would put all those emotions aside to be there for him tonight. Of course afterwards youâd have to discuss what happened, but he needed you now more than ever. With one of the biggest games of his career just an hour away, he wasnât sure heâd be able to get his mind right.
He tried one last time to call you, hoping that youâd finally pick up so he could hear your voice. Tell you how sorry he was, how much he loved you. Apologize for not realizing how truly lucky he was to have you by his side.
âHello?â
Your voice was soft on the other end, Jack almost too stunned to say anything. But he knew he wouldnât have long, the boys already getting lined up for warmups in the hall.
âHi, baby. Look, I donât have much time but Iâm so fucking sorry. For everything. Youâre right, I was being selfish and I was wrong. I truly never meant to get angry like that, and I hate myself for putting you through that. I love you so much and appreciate you sticking by my side, even though Iâm sure there were days you didnât want to deal with the bullshit. You stayed, and I need to appreciate you more because, I canât lose you.â
You could hear the emotion in his voice, your heart hurting imagining him getting teary eyed in the locker room for his teammates to see. Though Jack didnât care, he needed this moment with you. His voice was desperate with the need to make it known how sorry he was.
âI know. But right now, you need to focus on going out there and winning the cup okay? Everything will be fine.â
Jack laughed, trying to pull himself together as he wiped the tears from his face, nodding his head as he promised.
âOkay, I gotta go, warmups. I love you.â
-
Youâd gotten to the WAGS suite just as the lights began to dim, signaling that the starting lineups were about to be announced.
âY/n? Oh my god! We didnât think you were coming!â
Mark Stoneâs wife Hayley running up to hug you, the other girlsâ following suit. All of them happy to know youâd decided to come after the other nightâs events making you question the idea.
âThere was no way I could miss this, and I know Jack wants me here.â
Though you didnât tell him youâd made the trip, wanting to keep it a surprise. Which would be even sweeter should the Knights pull off the win.
Taking your seat next to Hayley, the two of you grabbed hands as you took a deep breath impatiently awaiting puck drop.
-
With the final minutes ticking down on the clock, you and the other WAGS sprinted down to the Zamboni gates. Arena staff directing you there for easy access to the ice post-game.
You watched with tear filled eyes as the scoreboard read three goals to one, with Vegas being the team with the lead. All of you joined hands as sixty seconds turned to forty, then twenty, and soon the final horn sounded. Jumping up and down you all cheered, watching as equipment flew through the air as the bench cleared and the guys piled onto their goaltender.
The Zamboni doors opened, but you were instructed to wait until the team was given the cup to take the ice. Arena staff needed to lay out carpets as a safety precaution in the meantime.
âAnd now, your Stanley Cup Champions. The Las Vegas Golden Knights!â
You and the girls crowded the entrance to the ice, phones out to take photos and pictures as each guy awaited their moment raising the cup. Soon enough it was Jackâs turn, and you could feel your eyes welling with tears at the sight. Seeing the emotion written all over his face, it made everything worth it. The hateful comments from the media and fans, navigating a trade out of a difficult situation with his previous organization. Fighting so hard for the surgery he deserved and worked endlessly to research.
The ups and the down of being his girlfriend all evened out for this opportunity to see him hoist the cup. And while it didnât erase the argument youâd had, or the fact that heâd punched the wall, it was a testament to the fact that the two of you could overcome it all.
As he passed the cup off to Noah, you watched as he scanned the crowd. His smile faded as he realized that all his teammates had their significant others to celebrate with, but little did he know you were there, and had been all night cheering him on.
And just as he was set to head off to rejoin his teammates, or find a coach to thank, he saw you. Your WAGS jacket always the easiest to spot since you went a little crazy with the gold glitter. Carefully you stepped onto the ice as he skated towards you, tears in his eyes as he pulled you into his chest. His arms not letting you go even for a second as he spun you around. Finally setting you down to pull your lips to his, his hands cupping your face as he pulled away, resting his forehead on yours.
âIâm so proud of you Jack!â
Smiling up at him as you wiped his tears, he kissed your forehead. Wrapping his arms around you again he held you tight, surely never letting you out of his sight for more than a day ever again.
âThank you so much, for everything. For loving me, supporting me, for being my rock. For coming here and supporting me after I was a selfish asshole, and punched a fucking hole in the wall of our kitchen.â
He laughed embarrassed as you grabbed his hand, looking over the few cuts that remained.
âYeah, how's the hand doing?â
âFeels fucking amazing lifting that cup. And even better getting to hold you again.â
He kissed you once again as you smiled, hands playing with his curls as the two of you let the chaos of celebration continue around you.
âWe can deal with the hole in the wall when we get back home. Right now, this is about you. All the bullshit youâve gone through the last few years, the bashing from the media, everyone doubting you. This is your moment. And Iâm so fucking proud of you, and proud to be your girlfriend. This right here makes it all worth it, to see you come out on top.â
âNo baby, this is about us. This cup is just as much for you as it is me. Without you, I wouldnât be here. And believe me, I realize that now. Having not heard from you for two days, Hanny setting me straight, I realize now how much you mean to me. And I meant what I said earlier, I canât lose you.â
âYouâre not going to lose me Jack, I promise.â
Pulling his lips back to yours, you gave him a kiss. Savoring the moment as you knew just how special this was. Watching as his teammates chugged beers, wrapped each other in hugs, and took photos with their families.
âNow, we can finish this conversation later, but you just won the Stanley Cup babe! Letâs celebrate!â
