Jihoon was so fucked.
To his credit, he is trying. Trying to ignore the fact that his body feels some sort of attraction towards his soulmate, situated only a few feet away from him on a beach chair. Trying to ignore the ink embedded into your skin along your collarbone that he can see out of his peripheral vision.
Trying to ignore temptation.
Your sunglasses are pushed up your nose to keep the sun out of your eyes, having opted to let the sun warm your body up instead of making your way into the water. It’s unusual for Jihoon to see you so still and so silent, simply basking in the sunlight as a hand belonging to Jisoo reaches up to pat your calf. Jihoon immediately scowls to himself when he sees the older man glance up at you from his towel, asking quietly if you’re good to which you respond with a little nod and smile before leaning your head back again and relaxing into the beach chair.
Your soulmate heaves a soft sigh as he checks his phone for the fourth time in the last two hours. Ji-ah was due to arrive back in Seoul soon and he has been growing increasingly more worried the longer it takes for her to not answer.
“Y/N!” A loud voice rouses you from your hungover slumber, causing you to whine and look at the shadow that is now blocking the sun from you that comes in the form of a 6’2 man named Kim Mingyu.
“Mm?” You grumble.
“Why won’t you come swimming with us?” he pouts at you, hands on his hips.
“I’m having my enrichment time out of my enclosure.” You deadpan, eyes closing again, a little grin forming on your face as you hear Mingyu let out a loud whine.
“Please can you come in the water?”
“Why does it have to be me?” You groan.
“Because Wonwoo can’t do swimming because of an accident when he was younger, Kwan and Sol are in their own little honeymoon phase world over there,” he points to said couple who are making an intricate sand castle, “Minnie is hanging off Soonie-hyung like a rash, Hannie-hyung will just attempt to use us all as a floatation device-”
“What makes you think I won’t do the same?” You raise your eyebrow.
“AND,” he glares at you, ignoring your comment. “Your brother is sulking that it’s only me who is playing with him. Please?”
“Do I have to?” You throw your head back with a dramatic sigh.
“If you don’t come in the water willingly, I will have to take you by force, Y/Nie.”
“Ha ha ha.” You roll your eyes. “I’d like to see you try.”
Jihoon has kept his back to you both for the entirety of your interaction with Mingyu, deciding on his own that he needs to actually follow Jeonghan’s advice and actively make an effort to at least attempt to ignore you and help you move on. He is finding it extremely difficult, however, due to the bikini you’re currently in looking too inviting for you to wriggle your way into his thoughts like a catchy song that can’t seem to escape his brain.
Mingyu seems to take your words as a challenge though, as not even two seconds later, Jihoon is alerted by a shriek coming from you.
“KIM MINGYU!” You try and scold, the large man having now scooped you up into his arms, marching his way towards the water. Jeonghan and Wonwoo both begin to laugh at the way you flail and kick to no avail.
“Yes, Y/Nie?” Mingyu grins at you, and you thrash more.
“Kim Mingyu, I swear if you don’t put me the fuck down right now…”
“Oh, put you down?” He smirks. “Okay!”
“YAH!” You let out another squeal as he moves to drop you, but you’re faster. You immediately wrap your arms and legs around his torso, squeezing onto him for dear life. Seungcheol bursts out laughing at the sight of you, a big smile on his face as he watches on.
“I meant out of the water, you BRAT!” You smack at Mingyu’s back, who only trudges deeper into the water. You whine loudly and cling tighter to him.
“Are you sure you want to call me a brat when I could sink both of us into the water right now?” He raises his eyebrows at you, arms down by his sides as you hold onto him like a backpack..
“Yah!” You whimper, burying your face into his shoulder. Jihoon bristles at the feeling in his stomach. “Okay, okay, I’m sorry! I’ll hang out!”
“Told you it would work.” Mingyu smirks to your brother, who only grins back triumphantly.
“I hate that you know me too well.” You groan, carefully untangling yourself from the overgrown puppy’s broad back, shivering at the feeling of the cold water as you sink your feet into the salty beach water. “I swear to god though, if you try to push me under the water, I will end you.”
Soonyoung only giggles at the glare on your face, glancing back to the shore at Jeonghan. “Hyung, isn’t she cute when she’s angry?”
“The cutest!” Jeonghan calls back, an amused smirk forming on his face as you shoot your brother’s soulmate a glare.
“I hate you all.” You grumble, crossing your arms with a pout, only making the boys around you giggle more.
“Oh come here, you big baby.” Seokmin turns around, offering his back to you.
Jihoon feels the immediate change in your mood lift to excitement, glancing over to see you happily perched up on Seokmin’s back, who wades slowly through the water with you comfortably resting against him.
“Thank you Minnie~” You sing sweetly, hugging around his shoulders.
“Hey!” Mingyu points accusingly at you. “That isn’t fair! I went through all that work to bring you out here only to have you be coddled in the water too?”
“Be grateful I’m even here, Mingyu.” You playfully glare at him, Seokmin turning you away from him as Soonyoung starts cooing and patting your head, making you grin.
“Aish, what are we going to do with you…”
For the next hour, Jihoon knows he is torturing himself by listening to the others around him (aka you) have fun. Him, alongside Jeonghan, Wonwoo, Seungkwan and Hansol watches as you with the others play happily around in the water. For the better part of twenty minutes, the game of choice, chosen by the birthday boy, has been Marco Polo. You have opted out of this game, your soulmate keeping an eye on your head currently nestled against Seokmin’s warm shoulder, eyes fluttering closed as the heat from the sun covers you like a blanket and makes your sleepiness return at full force. You look peaceful, he thinks.
His calm thoughts soon turn to discomfort as he feels his phone vibrate against his pocket, hurriedly reaching down to check the text, only to feel himself deflate at the message from his girlfriend.
Made it safe. x
No nickname, no warmth, no nothing. This is seriously unlike Ji-ah at all, and it has Jihoon nervous. Should he reply like normal? Or should he give his girlfriend the space she needs to handle her emergency?
“Jihoon-ah?” Wonwoo’s voice cuts his thoughts short, startling his housemate as he turns to stare at him with wide eyes. “You okay over there?”
“Uh, y-yeah.” He hums slightly. “Ji-ah just let me know she made it home safely.”
“That’s good, isn’t it?”
Is it?
“Yeah, I suppose.” Jihoon replies after a short pause, sighing quietly.
“It’s okay to be worried about her.” Wonwoo smiles at him, patting his shoulder gently. “After all, she is your-”
“YAH!” Your voice squeals out, alarming the others as they turn to look at the ocean. You’re swatting at your brother, who is loudly cackling and snatching you from Seokmin’s arms. “Get away from me, you big buffoon!”
The others upon the shore begin to laugh and smile at Seungcheol as he spins you around bridal style. “You dare be rude to your big brother on his birthday, hmm?”
“HANNIE OPPA!” You shriek as Jihoon glances at your brother’s soulmate, who simply smirks back. “DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR SOULMATE!”
“And ruin my hair if I fall into the water? You’re on your own, Ladybug.”
“You bast-AAAAAH!” You yelp as Seungcheol tosses you to Mingyu, who catches you effortlessly. “I hate you all!”
“What did I do?!” Seungkwan fires back immediately, wagging his finger dramatically at you as the others laugh at the joyful mood surrounding them all.
Jihoon breathes a sigh of relief at the change of subject from Wonwoo’s questioning, letting his head lean back to briefly glance at the sky as he delves back into his own thoughts.“Aw, come on guys, leave the girl alone!” Jisoo chuckles as he rises from his towel, tucking a surfboard under his arm. He jogs into the sea, sitting up on his board as he paddles his way over to the group. “Come here, Goober. I’ll save you from these punks.” He laughs as Mingyu turns away from him, holding you tight to his chest.
“Nuh-uh! She stays with us!”
“She’s not going to stray far, promise.” He pats the board gently, making the tall man sigh and plonk you down in front of your childhood friend.
“Thank you, Shua’ppa.” You smile sweetly at him before poking your tongue out at Mingyu, who huffs and splashes you playfully, making you yelp.
“Do you know how to surf, Goob?” Jisoo asks gently, giving you a cheeky grin.
“Hong Jisoo.” You deadpan, raising an eyebrow. “I am a homebody girl from Daegu. What do you think?”
“Well,” he ignores your sass, crossing his arms across his chest as you mimic him. “Would you like to learn?”
“When I feel like throwing up from how the ocean is rocking me right now?” You laugh. “I think that’s a recipe for disaster.”
“Hmm.. you make a compelling argument.” He hums sagely, reaching up and stroking his chin, trying not to grin at the sound of your giggles. “How about then I teach you how to keep your balance on the board? No wave riding.”
“Can you guarantee that I won’t fall in?” Jisoo simply raises his hand up, his pinky extended to link with yours, flashing you an angelic smile. You narrow your eyes for a moment before reaching out to link your pinky with his. “I swear, if I fall in…”
“Trust me, Goober!”
Jihoon blinks and raises his head as he feels your amusement filling his veins, eyes coming into focus as he curiously gazes out to the sea to see why you’re feeling this way.
Your legs are shaking as you attempt to stand on the idle surfboard, your nervous laughs reaching down to where your soulmate sits. Jisoo is standing behind you with his large hands settled delicately on your bare waist, keeping you steady as he talks quietly into your ear on how to stand correctly that Jihoon can’t hear.
Jihoon feels his hair stand on end as his eyes zero in on the older man’s hands resting on your bare skin, bristling in his chair slightly.
“You can do it, Ladybug!” Jeonghan is cheering from the shore, an amused grin on his face as you flip him off.
“Focus, Goober.” Jisoo’s voice is steady as he keeps his hands on you.
You take a deep breath, standing with your legs apart as he directs you, biting down on your lip and holding your arms out to keep your balance, your eyes squeezing shut.
“That’s it!” Seungcheol cheers you on from the water, keeping a hold on the surfboard so it doesn’t toss and tip as much.
“Look at her go, babe!” Seungkwan coos excitedly to Hansol from their spot in the sand, as his soulmate watches on with an amused smile.
“Bug, open your eyes!” Soonyoung laughs at your scrunched up face.
“Goober,” Jisoo laughs, both hands now in the air. “You’re doing it. Open your eyes.”
You slowly open your eyes, looking down to see your legs balancing on the board. Your eyes widen as you look around at Soonyoung, Seokmin, Seungcheol and Mingyu in the water, all cheering excitedly at you and Jisoo standing behind you with a proud grin.
“Holy fuck.” You laugh nervously. “I’m doing it.”
“WOOHOO!” Seungkwan cheers from ashore, waving excitedly with Hansol as Wonwoo simply gives you a thumbs up from beside your soulmate, who just stares with a bewildered look on his face, not knowing how to comprehend the feelings that are in his stomach.
“See?” Jisoo smiles charmingly at you, leaning in to press his lips to your temple. “I told you that you could do it.”
Jihoon grimaces at the shy smile that graces your face.
“Jihoon-ssi?”
“Hmm?” Jihoon’s brain switches into focus at the sound of your brother's voice calling out for him.
They had been back at the campsite now for roughly two hours after a long birthday dinner in the city for Seungcheol, full of fried chicken and even more alcohol. Everyone now has settled down around the campfire, ready for a final night of alcohol and drinking games for the last hurrah of the trip.
“Soonyoungie said that you are studying music production.” He smiles warmly at him. Jihoon bristles. “What made you want to pursue that?”
“O-oh.” He stutters. “Umm..”
It’s not that he was afraid of his soulmate’s brother and the fact that if he knew that he rejected his precious sister, he’d rip his head off, no, it was the fact that Jihoon isn’t a very sociable person. He has never been one to hold any type of conversation for very long with anyone unless it was something he was passionate about. Luckily for him, music is one of his specialties that he could go on for hours about. So, he does.
”My older cousin is an amateur producer and songwriter.” Jihoon quietly smiles. “He has a few albums that he’s made at the moment. His soulmate does choreography for some of his tracks. I always thought he was really cool and wanted to follow his footsteps and do what he does. I guess I’m kind of his protege now?” He shrugs his shoulders nervously with a chuckle. “There’s just something I find really interesting about breaking down a song into different segments and sections, and creating completely new beats and melodies from the source material.”
“Wow,” Seungcheol replies with curious eyes. “That’s actually really interesting.”
”I suppose so,” your soulmate nods his head as he smiles shyly to himself.
“Do you plan on releasing things in the future?”
“Oh! Um.. Maybe?” He blinks. “I write a few things here and there, but they’re not very good, I don’t think.”
“Don’t downplay your skills and hobbies, Jihoon-ssi.” Seungcheol pats his shoulder once as he rises from his spot by the campfire. “If you enjoy it, that’s all that matters.” He makes his way to grab himself a second serving of the birthday cake you had brought from your work for the final night of Seungcheol’s birthday celebrations.
Jihoon smiles to himself.
He is so kind. No wonder you turned out so well. After all, he did help raise you for most of your teen years.
“It’s not tap, tap, kick,” Soonyoung instructs loudly. “It’s tap, kick, tap! Yah, don’t you remember anything from this routine, Kwan-ah?”
“We made this dance four years ago, Hyung.” Seungkwan glares, hand on his hip. “Please spare me for not remembering a dance that is nearly HALF A DECADE old.”
“NO EXCUSES!” He shouts back, pointing dramatically as he begins to get back into position. “Five, six, seven, eight!” Seungkwan groans and begrudgingly begins to move in time to Soonyoung’s movements, much to your amusement as you weave your way through the camping chairs, bundles of bracelets in hand.
“One for you,” You chirp, two bottles of soju deep as you slide a bracelet onto Seungkwan’s wrist as you pass without skipping a beat. “And a specially made tiger one for you,” You coo, squeaking and giggling as Soonyoung takes your hand, twirling you in his arms and dipping you dramatically as the bracelet slides with ease onto his wrist, your loud laugh echoing through the empty forest and right into your soulmate’s ears, sending goosebumps down his arms.
”Thank you, Buggie Wuggie Boo,” Soonyoung coos, making you groan and shove him away.
“ICK!” You yell as you continue to pass bracelets through the group, Jihoon eyeing you out of the corner of his eye as you draw closer towards where he sits. “Here you go, Hannie-Oppa!”
”Thank you, sweetheart.” your brother’s soulmate smiles, ruffling your hair as he admires the colourful beads on his wrist.
Jihoon takes a deep breath as he feels your presence draw closer, eyes downcast as you fiddle with one of two bracelets in your hand. “Jihoon-ssi,” your voice is once again timid and shy, and he dislikes it. “I didn’t know what colour you liked, and I noticed your wardrobe is pretty void of colour, so…” You quietly place a simple black and grey beaded bracelet with his name written in lettered beads in the middle on his lap. “I thought it matches your look.”
Jihoon stares at the bracelet, picking it up and examining it between his fingers. He can feel your nerves running through your stomach, fiddling with the remaining bracelet in your hands. After a soft sigh, Jihoon slips the bracelet onto his wrist, cheeks warming at the kind gesture of you still including him.
“It’s perfect.” Jihoon smiles softly to you. “Thank you, Y/N.”
Your cheeks flush as you give him a small smile, turning and making your way towards Chan, who said quietly beside Wonwoo as he ate.
“I saved the best bracelet for last,” you smile to the youngest, sliding the final bracelet onto his wrist delicately.
“What colour is it, Noona?” Chan asks quietly, staring at the beads intently.
“Well,” you begin, sitting down beside him. “I made this with every coloured bead I could think of. It’s a rainbow.”
“Huh?” Chan balked, tilting his head. “Why would you do that? I can’t even see them…”
”I made it this way because then, the day that you meet your soulmate,” you nudge the bracelet, “you will be able to see all the colours of the rainbow straight away.” Your eyes light up with a little smile.
Jihoon’s stomach drops at the sound of hope and joy in your voice that is almost infectious, and he scowls to himself.
“Hannie-Oppa did the same for me, see?” You chirp, holding your hand out and showing Chan your nails, now chipped and slightly overgrown. “He gave me all the colours I could have on my hand, and I wanted to do the same to you.”
“B-but…” Chan takes a quiet breath. “Noona.. wh-what if… what if I meet my soulmate and it doesn’t work out? What if… what if I’m left behind and look like a complete fool?” He stares at his lap, knee bouncing nervously.
Your soulmate feels a twist of discomfort in his gut at the maknae’s question, turning his head to see the same discomfort evident on your face.
“Chan-ah,” you smile softly, reaching up to ruffle his hair. “Don’t be silly.”
“B-but you-”
“Uh-uh-uh,” you wiggle your finger at him. “Things like that only happen to people like me, who are just simply unlucky in life.” Jihoon feels the dagger pressing against his chest. “You, little one, are lucky, and I know your soulmate will be absolutely smitten with you when you meet. And, in that impossible scenario,” You bump your shoulder against his, “you’ll always have all of these guys here to spend time with. And even Noona too.” You add on for good measure, smiling sweetly at him. Jihoon feels the dagger twist inside him. Chan shyly smiles back, leaning his head against your shoulder, signaling for you to give him a big side hug, cheek resting against the top of his head.
“Promise I’ll always have you, Noona?”
“Silly boy,” You giggle. “I couldn’t leave you alone, even if I tried.” You ruffle his hair once more, causing him to whine and swat your arm, your giggle growing once more as Jihoon feels his stomach twist and tighten, a million thoughts once again flooding his thoughts.
“Okay,” Seokmin settles comfortably in his chair, looking around at the circle. “Here’s a question.” He hums quietly at the small group that has formed around him of you, Wonwoo, Jisoo, Jeonghan and Jihoon. “If you could have one wish that could be granted, what would you wish for?” Before anyone can open their mouths, he points aggressively towards Jeonghan. “NO WISHING FOR MORE WISHES!”
“Yah, you’re no fun.” Jeonghan whines, slumping in his chair and crossing his arms.
“I would wish for…” Wonwoo mumbles. “Being able to have enough money in my pocket at all times to be able to afford what I need at that time.”
”That is… oddly specific.” Jisoo chuckles.
“But practical.” Seokmin grins.
“I would wish for Seokminnie to let me answer questions the way I want to.” Jeonghan huffs, shooting him a playful glare as Seokmin gasps loudly, pressing his hand to his chest in shock,
“How dare you!”
”What about you, Goob?” Jisoo nudges your side with a little smile.
“I’d wish soulmates didn’t exist.”
The group falls silent, the air filling with awkward tension as they balk, trying to think of an answer.
“Bug, I…”
“Not for the reason you think.” You mutter, staring into the fire with a dull look on your face. “If soulmate’s didn’t exist, I’d only have divorced parents, not a dead mother and an absent father. If soulmate’s didn’t exist, I’d still be able to go home and see my mother and tell her about how my day went. If soulmate’s didn’t exist, I’d actually be wanted.”
Jihoon feels his heart twist, teeth digging into his bottom lip as he eyes your face. You look empty. Jihoon can’t feel a thing, and that frightens him.
“C’mere.” Jisoo takes your hand delicately, leading you to a small clearing; the same clearing that Jihoon went to the night before.
The little conversations start him again, Jihoon’s ears zeroing in on Jeonghan’s light scolding to Seokmin as to why he’d ask such a ridiculous question. His ears are ringing as your emotionless words echo through his head, making him feel worse than he ever has before.
“Goober…” Jisoo encourages you quietly to speak.
“Remember how you asked me yesterday if I was okay?” Your voice shakes. “If I was broken?”
Jisoo nods slowly, hand resting on your shoulder.
“A-and I said to you I was fine?”
“Mhm…”
“I-I.. I’m not. I’m not okay.” You whimper, bottom lip trembling. “I’m living a good life, I have a job I love, friends and family who care about me, I can-” you hiccup. “I-I can see colour… and I’m fucking broken.”
You let out a loud sob, a heartbroken wail, letting yourself fall into Jisoo’s arms, your face burying into the warmth of his sweater as your arms wrap tightly around him. Jisoo feels his own tears filling his eyes at the sound of your broken cries, your hands gripping the back of his sweater for dear life, as if afraid he would disappear.
”I know, Goob… Don’t worry, I got you. Let it out.”
“Are you sure it’s been resolved?” Jihoon smiles at Ji-ah as they stroll through the street, making their way to Love Letter cafe.
It has been a week since he has returned from Busan with you and the others; the group having been mostly quiet as they recovered from the long weekend of partying and merging back into their daily lives. This is the first time Jihoon has seen his girlfriend, having given her space to get through her emergency. He’s finally happy he is able to have a date with her after being at university all week and catching up on the projects he wasn’t able to do while on the road trip.
“Yes, babe, I’m sure.” Ji-ah smiles back at him. For some reason, though, Jihoon finds the smile uneasy and almost hollow, and he can’t figure out why until a quiet voice cuts his thoughts short.
“Ji-ah?”
He pauses as he sees a tall man in front of him with a single rose in his left hand, right hand reaching up to scratch the back of his neck.
“Hajoon.” Ji-ah whispers out with a nervous breath, almost like she’s been caught.
Jihoon freezes at the sight in front of him - his not-soulmate with red tinged cheeks and shy smile on her face, and a stranger looking just as shy and sheepish smiling back at her. He feels his stomach drop as his mind flashes with realization at the scene unfolding in front of him.
He knows the look on her face. He has seen that look before with Wonwoo and Mingyu, Junhui and Minghao, and especially with Seungcheol and Jeonghan.
His heart breaks a little, as Jihoon knows in his heart that he’s already lost his girlfriend to her real love, her soulmate.

“KIM MINGYU!” You try and scold, the large man having now scooped you up into his arms, marching his way towards the water. Jeonghan and Wonwoo both begin to laugh at the way you flail and kick to no avail.

Jihoon breathes a sigh of relief at the change of subject from Wonwoo’s questioning, letting his head lean back to briefly glance at the sky as he delves back into his own thoughts.
“Aw, come on guys, leave the girl alone!” Jisoo chuckles as he rises from his towel, tucking a surfboard under his arm.
“I couldn’t leave you alone, even if I tried.” You ruffle his hair once more, causing him to whine and swat your arm, your giggle growing once more as Jihoon feels his stomach twist and tighten, a million thoughts once again flooding his mind.
The little conversations start up again, Jihoon’s ears zeroing in on Jeonghan’s light scolding to Seokmin as to why he’d ask such a ridiculous question.

You think you’re losing your mind.
That’s the only possible explanation as to why you’re hovering outside of Yoongi’s home studio at four in the morning, arguing with yourself about whether or not you should knock on the door.
He’s been in there for hours, didn’t even come to bed last night, which might explain the plethora of dreams you had. They’re what woke you up, and the absence of Yoongi is what brought you out from under the warm covers and into the chilly night air.
Yoongi’s studio is a small building in your backyard, with no windows and perfect acoustics. He had it built last year, when he finally got tired of going in and out of the city at all hours to work, and best of all, he gave you free reign of the exterior. Now that the garden is blooming and the stones leading to the door have settled into the ground, it really feels like part of your home.
Or it does in the daylight, anyway.
You’ve never come out here at night before, because you’ve never had a need to. You know Yoongi will come inside when he’s finished working so you usually leave him to it, usually try not to interrupt him, but tonight, something is different.
Tonight, you need him.
Desperately.
It’s not like he’s neglecting you, it’s just that he’s been working on a personal project so a lot of his time is spent in the studio, and when he finally calls it a day, all he wants to do is eat and collapse into your arms. You can take care of yourself, quite well, in fact, but nothing beats Yoongi’s touch, nothing.
Every dream you had in your fitful five hours of rest was filled with him; his hands on your body, his mouth between your legs, his cock deep inside of you. It all felt hazy and rose-colored but somehow so real, and when you woke to an empty bed, it was almost heartbreaking.
And it doesn’t help that it’s been ten days since he last fucked you, not that you’ve been counting…
You’d go back to bed if you could, but you already tried to satisfy your craving for him and all that did was leave you wet and wanting him even more, which is why you only feel a little bit guilty when your hand raises and raps twice on the wood in front of you.
It takes a few seconds for the door to open, and when it does, your eyes grow wide and your fingers fly to the hem of your nightie, your suddenly freezing legs reminding you just how short it is.
If it were Yoongi, you wouldn’t care, you’d probably even hike it up a little bit more, but it’s not Yoongi.
It’s Jihoon, your boyfriend’s protege.
“Um,” Jihoon starts, his eyes trailing over your exposed body before snapping back up to your face, a flush reddening the skin of his neck and ears. “Yoongi’s in the middle of a recording session so he didn’t hear the door. Is everything okay?”
“Yes, yeah, um, everything’s fine,” you stammer, because what the hell else can you do?
It’s not like you can admit to someone who’s not your boyfriend that you’re dizzy with desire, especially not when that someone is your boyfriend’s adorable mentee.
Jihoon is barely 27, but he’s been producing since he was in his teens. Yoongi kept an eye on his career for a while and eventually decided to take him under his wing when he noticed he wasn’t advancing in the field like he deserved to be. They’ve been working together for a little under a year now, and Jihoon has become a regular fixture at your house.
You include him in your meals, in your game nights, and even in your karaoke, though he effortlessly outsings you both every single time.
But that doesn’t mean you can tell him you’re here because you need to get fucked.
If Yoongi were the one to answer the door, you wouldn’t have needed to speak, he would have seen that shine to your eyes and known immediately what you needed. You didn’t even know Jihoon was here or you wouldn’t have knocked at all.
Now here you are staring at each other, Jihoon’s blush traveling down under his collar as you shiver in your nightdress, unable to think of even one viable explanation as to why you’re up at four in the morning.
“Babe? What are you doing out there? It’s cold as fuck,” Yoongi appears behind Jihoon, his brows furrowed and his gaze bewildered.
He takes one good look at you and that’s it. He knows.
You can tell by the smirk that’s quirking one side of his mouth up and the heat that flashes in his tired eyes, the sight of both making you bite your lip and twist your fingers in the hem of your nightie.
“We’re gonna take a break, Jihoon. Let’s all go up to the house for a bit, yeah?” Yoongi proposes, though you know it was more of an order than an offer.
You turn mechanically and force one foot in front of the other, trying to ignore the fact that you can feel two sets of eyes on you instead of one.
That’s the theme of the night, apparently, as you find yourself making tea for three, still clad in your pajamas. You would have gone to get a robe but Yoongi caught your hand before you left and asked for some oolong, saying that it’s never as good when he makes it.
While the tea is steeping, you sit on Yoongi’s right side, Jihoon on his left, and try to keep from squirming at the feeling of the cold wooden chair against your hot center. You didn’t bother to put on underwear, sure that Yoongi would just fuck you right there in his studio, and you’re positive he would have, if Jihoon wasn’t there.
But he was, he is, and you have no idea what Yoongi’s game is but you know it’s starting to make you feel a bit crazy, like your skin is too tight for your bones and your heart is too big for your chest.
Then he speaks, and all the blood in your body reaches its boiling point.
“Jihoon was just telling me that he feels like he can’t write sex into his songs because he’s never had it before. Why don’t we help him out with that?”
Jihoon collapses into himself, groaning and cursing, his face buried in his arms where they rest on the table, his muscles strained with tension and his skin bright red.
Yoongi just smiles serenely and looks over to you, raising an eyebrow and lifting his chin like he’s challenging you.
You can’t respond yet, not with the ringing in your ears and the images in your mind, flashbulb memories of how long Jihoon’s fingers are and how voraciously he eats and, worst of all, how he looks when he comes over straight from the gym, his hair still damp from the shower and his veins still popping from the workout.
All things you’ve thought about innocuously, no real intention behind them, now given life, meaning, by Yoongi’s words.
You tilt your head at him, trying to figure out if this is a test, but you don’t see any hint of deception in his eyes. All you see is your boyfriend of four years, wanting to bring someone into the bed you share, wanting to teach someone what it means to give and take pleasure.
No, not just someone, but Jihoon, specifically.
He has a soft spot for the kid and that’s obvious, but you never expected it to extend to sharing you.
However, you’re not… opposed… to the idea.
If anything, you feel yourself get just a bit hotter, just a bit wetter, imagining the both of them in your bedroom.
You know Yoongi can tell how you’re feeling, you’ve never been able to hide a thing from him, and when that satisfied smile stretches his lips, you give up and give in.
“What are your rules?” You ask softly, your eyes darting to Jihoon when he snaps his head up and stares at you, wide eyed and open mouthed.
“He has to wear a condom,” Yoongi says matter-of-factly, before continuing, “Other than that, I have none. What about you?”
You didn’t expect him to turn the question around on you, but you’re grateful he did.
“Same as you,” you respond, before looking to Jihoon. “What are your thoughts?”
He stares at you for a moment, his eyes flicking between you and Yoongi, before he answers, “I - I don’t know. I’m embarrassed, and a little bit annoyed,” he levels a glare at Yoongi. “But I’m… I mean if you’re okay with it, then… then yes, I want this. I’ll wear a condom, I’ll do whatever.”
Yoongi doesn’t even pretend to care about the tea.
He just rises from his chair and extends a hand toward you, waiting for you to take it before nodding at Jihoon, expecting you to reach out to him. You hold your hand out and he grasps it, your fingers intertwining as Yoongi pulls you to the stairs. In between them, you carefully move up the steps, feeling somewhat like you’re on your way to the place of no return.
You know you can stop this at any time, but you fear you won’t want to.
You fear that once you get a taste of Jihoon, of both of them together, that’s all you’ll want.
Yoongi must know, he knows everything about you, and if he wasn’t okay with it, he wouldn’t have offered. So when you cross over the threshold and he lets go of your hand to sit in the chair occupying the corner of your room, you know that he must be anticipating that outcome, and you know that he must be alright with it.
Which makes it easier to turn to Jihoon and cup his cheeks to draw him into a kiss, one that makes him gasp against your lips before he drops a hand to your hip and starts to kiss you back.
He seems experienced enough at this, you think, his plush mouth soft against yours and his tongue tentative where it brushes along the seam of your lips. You open up for him with ease, swallowing his sounds and responding with your own soft hums to show him you’re comfortable.
Your tongue glides against his and he moans, sucking at it with gentle pulses that make your core throb, before you pull away and press a hand to his chest to stop him from following you.
“Let’s move to the bed?” You suggest, perhaps because your knees feel the slightest bit weak but mainly because you’ve been desperate to get Yoongi’s body on top of yours all night. Jihoon isn’t Yoongi, but you think he’ll feel almost as good.
Jihoon nods, his chest rising and falling as he tries to regulate his breathing, waiting for you to climb up and get comfortable before setting a knee on the covers.
“Take your clothes off,” Yoongi calls out from the corner. “She probably wants to see you.”
Jihoon glances over and then looks at you, raising a brow. You shrug shyly and nod, your eyes lowering to his chest as he starts to pull his sweater up. More and more pale skin is revealed, and by the time the fabric clears his head, your gaze is locked on the defining lines of his abdominals. He unties his sweats and pushes them down, stepping out of the cotton and standing before you in just his boxer briefs.
His dick is hard, pressing against the fabric, but you don’t have long to look before he settles on top of you, his elbows bracketing your head and his knees straddling your thighs. His lips find yours again and soon enough, you’re lost in him. He kisses you so attentively, adjusting to your every move, your every breath. It’s not long before you’re squirming beneath him, wanting for more.
“You’re gonna eat her out next,” Yoongi instructs, his voice distant but consuming, echoing in your mind like a looped track.
Jihoon breaks away from you, his eyes heavy lidded and his lips kiss-swollen. He sits back on his knees when you shift up onto your elbows, giving you room to pull your nightie up and off, leaving you bare from head to toe.
His eyes traverse the whole of your body, lingering on your breasts before they land between your thighs, his stare weighty, nearly tangible on you. The thought that you might be the first woman he’s seen naked in person is a heady one, enough to give you the confidence to slide your legs out from between his and spread them on the bed, showing him exactly what he’ll be working with.
His breaths come faster as he gazes at you, slowly moving down to lay on his stomach between your legs, his mouth just inches from your pussy when Yoongi says, “Spit on it.”
“What?” Jihoon questions, turning back to stare at Yoongi in confusion, missing the way you squirm at Yoongi’s instruction.
“You heard me, spit on it. She’s into it.”
“I- No, I’m not gonna fuckin- I’m not spitting on her, that’s ru-”
“Fine, if you won’t, I will,” Yoongi rolls his eyes and rises from his seat, taking a few steps to the bed and pushing at Jihoon’s shoulder when he doesn’t move out of the way.
Yoongi braces his hands on your knees and shoves them further apart, his eyes coasting up your body before they land on yours, a wry smile stretching his lips before he purses them and spits on your pussy. His saliva trails over your clit and down to your entrance, making you gasp and making your cunt clench, your hand shooting down to weave into his hair when he starts to pull back.
“See? Told you,” he murmurs to Jihoon, grasping your wrist and waiting for you to release his hair before stepping away and returning to his chair in the corner.
Your eyes find Jihoon, who looks like he’s been struck. He shakes it off and fills the space between your legs again, flat on his belly with a determined glint to his eye. You can feel his breaths as his mouth gets closer and closer to you, before finally, his tongue drags over you from cunt to clit.
He takes his time learning you, sucking at your folds and dipping into your entrance, never staying in one place for long. He’s making little sounds like he loves the taste of you, the vibrations traveling through your pussy straight to your buzzing brain, straight to the part of you that yearns to be set free.
You long to sink your fingers into his hair and drag him where you want him, take your pleasure from him like he’s a toy, but you know this is a precarious situation, and you’re not going to be the one that tips it out of balance.
So you let him explore, let him figure it out on his own, setting aside the fact that you’ve been aching for hours already. This is Jihoon’s first time, you can stand to not be greedy for once in your life.
Yoongi seems to disagree, telling Jihoon, “Find her clit and suck it, or she’ll never cum.”
You would glare at him for rushing Jihoon, you really would, but then Jihoon listens, his mouth searching until he discovers that bundle of nerves and wraps his lips around it, giving experimental sucks that quickly have your back arching and your toes curling.
“Y-you can, um, put a fing-,” You try to speak but can’t seem to get the words out, not when Jihoon’s mouth is so soft and wet and his tongue is so agile from years of playing the clarinet, the tip lapping at your clit in between pulses of his lips.
“Baby, I’ll tell him what to do, you just lay back and enjoy, okay?” Yoongi says in a soothing tone, making your eyes flicker open so you can see him. You know he wants you to answer him so you force your head to move up and down in a nod, melting into the bed when he sends you that indulgent, proud little smile.
“Jihoon, start with two fingers, she likes to feel full. Palm up,” Yoongi instructs Jihoon, his voice more distant, less affectionate now that he’s not talking to you.
Jihoon’s fingertips glide through your arousal, dipping into your entrance and starting to push inside. You’re still a bit stretched out from taking care of yourself earlier so there’s barely any resistance, his fingers sinking in slowly but surely.
His tongue stutters against you, a weak groan escaping him as your cunt molds to his digits. You squeeze around them just to hear that sound again, biting back a grin when the next groan is louder.
“Feels good, doesn’t she? Now imagine that around your cock,” Yoongi smirks smugly, his eyes caught on the blush rising up the back of Jihoon’s neck. “Gotta make her cum first.”
With renewed fervor, Jihoon sucks at your throbbing clit, his fingers twitching inside of you but not moving yet.
“Now you’re gonna find her g-spot. Curl your fingers and tap until you feel a different texture, you’ll know you’ve got it when she gets wetter.”
Ever the quick study, Jihoon puts Yoongi’s words to action, his fingers crooking and rubbing along your front wall in search of the patch that can make you gush. He encounters it soon enough, grazing the erogenous zone with his fingertips and tapping into it when you gasp and clench down.
You do get wetter, just like Yoongi said, and you can’t help but move with Jihoon’s fingers as he starts to slide them in and out, the tips hooking into your sweet spot on every thrust. You should have expected him to have perfect rhythm and lithe, talented fingers just like Yoongi does, because maybe then it wouldn’t be a surprise when you feel the stirrings of heat deep in your belly.
Would it be embarrassing to cum so soon? Yoongi can get you there in five minutes flat but this is Jihoon, should you try to hold out for longer so he has more time to practice? What if he’s disappointed that you-
“Baby, stop worrying. Just cum when you want to,” Yoongi says softly, and not for the first time, you feel blessed to have a partner who knows you inside and out.
You don’t need his permission to cum but now that you have it, you can feel your climax building even faster, feel it growing, glowing inside of you as Jihoon moans into your pussy, as if he’s echoing Yoongi’s words.
That and the flawless grind of his fingertips into your g-spot are what throw you over the edge, darkness eclipsing your vision as you tumble into a pleasure so deep, you can feel it in your bones.
It races through your bloodstream, electric and razor sharp, setting all of your nerves on edge and stealing every molecule of air in your lungs. You gasp through it, clenching your fingers in the pillow beneath your head so you don’t reach down, tangle them in his hair, and hold him to you until he’s as breathless as you are.
You think you could cum again if he just keeps his tongue curled around your clit and his fingers digging into your g-spot like this. Hell, you’d probably cum even harder, get even wetter for him, even hotter.
It’s so close you can almost taste it, but he starts to pull away and you swallow down the cry of protest that rises in your throat, fighting off disappointment that you fear you don’t have a right to. Yoongi likes to go for more than one but Jihoon isn’t Yoongi, and you can’t expect him to behave the same way.
Yoongi does, evidently, because he says as if it should be obvious, “Keep going.”
“What? She already-”
“She can cum again, keep going.”
When Jihoon looks up at you for confirmation, Yoongi heaves a beleaguered sigh and ambles to the bed, placing a knee on the mattress for stability before leaning over Jihoon’s shoulder and gripping the back of his neck, pushing and holding him down.
Jihoon is more than strong enough to break free if he wants to, which makes it even sweeter when he closes his eyes and dives back into you, one of his hands scooping under your thigh to pull it up onto his shoulder. Now you’re the one holding him down, and Yoongi’s lips stretch in a satisfied smile, like Jihoon has finally done something to be proud of, before he loosens his grasp and returns to his chair.
You’ve lost some momentum in the seconds without stimulation, but you can’t escape the image of your boyfriend shoving his protege’s face into your cunt and that’s almost enough to get you right back where you were.
It helps that Jihoon seems to be insatiable now, though whether he’s desperate for you or desperate to prove himself to Yoongi, you don’t know. It doesn’t really matter either way, not with his lips wrapped around your clit and his tongue digging up under the hood to lap directly at the nerves. His fingers join in too, fucking into you harder and faster, beckoning out enough arousal that you can feel it dripping down your perineum.
The sounds are obscene, the wet suction of his mouth and the squelching of his fingers bringing heat to your cheeks. You wonder if Jihoon can hear or if your thighs are muffling the noises, part of you hoping they are and most of you hoping they aren’t.
You want him to hear what he’s doing to you, want him to know that he’s pleasing you, that his efforts are appreciated, which is why you finally decide to stop holding back.
Your hands skate down your body and delve into his hair, pulling his face even deeper into your pussy as you whimper long and loud. “There she is,” Yoongi murmurs, barely audible with your voice ringing in the air.
Jihoon groans earnestly in response, his hips twitching against the bed and his fingers spasming inside of you before they stop fucking in and out and instead start prodding your g-spot, rubbing and tapping and grinding until you lock down around them, cumming with a gush and a shout.
He doesn’t stop this time, relentless in the pursuit of pulling every last bit of bliss out of you as if he’s learned his lesson. Yoongi always says that Jihoon takes direction well, and you’re honored to experience the evidence of it yourself.
Honored and dizzy, if you’re being truthful.
Your head spins, your pussy growing sensitive and your pleasure growing sharp, almost stinging as he continues to batter your front wall with his fingertips and stab his tongue into your overworked clit.
“Jihoon,” you whine brokenly, drawing out his name and gripping his hair tighter, unsure of whether you want to push him away or pull him closer.
“Don’t stop,” Yoongi calls out, but it sounds like he’s underwater, or maybe you are, every noise in the room muted and dull compared to the roaring in your ears, the rushing of your blood in your veins as your heart races in your chest.
“Maybe you’ll make her-”
Time slows down when Jihoon grunts his assent into you, the vibration just enough to send you spiraling into a euphoria so acute, it brings tears to your eyes. Your vision whites out and you think you scream, and then you’re levitating, no longer on the bed, perhaps not even on the planet anymore.
When your soul returns to your body and you blink your watery eyes open, the first thing you see is Jihoon. He’s still between your legs but now he’s bright red, his chest heaving as he fights to breathe, your arousal covering him from his cheeks down to his sternum.
You would feel nervous about his reaction but as soon as your eyes meet his, he’s climbing up over you and pressing his swollen lips to yours, his kiss ravenous and his tongue soaked with you.
When he pulls away, you’ve got your own essence smeared all over your mouth, and you’re not even startled to feel a familiar hand in your hair. The hand tugs your head to the side and you let your eyes flutter closed, anticipating the swipe of Yoongi’s tongue over your bottom lip. He loves how you taste, even if it’s not directly from the source.
You can feel Jihoon’s eyes on you as Yoongi licks your face clean, and you wonder if he thinks he’s going to get the same treatment.
He might, honestly.
But not tonight, it seems, as Yoongi smacks a kiss onto your lips and lets go of your hair, reaching in the bedside table for the condoms you haven’t used since you got your IUD placed a few months ago.
“You didn’t blow your load, right?” Yoongi glances at Jihoon, raising an eyebrow teasingly and laughing at the way Jihoon glares and says, “No, I’m still fucking hard, thanks for asking.”
Out of loyalty to your boyfriend, you won’t point out that Yoongi actually did blow his load the first time he ever made you squirt.
“You still up for it, baby? Not too sore or sleepy?” Yoongi crouches next to you and cups your face, brushing his thumb over the curve of your cheekbone and gazing at you with gentle, patient eyes.
“I’m still up for it,” you smile peacefully, watching as he hands Jihoon the condom and taking the opportunity to stretch, reaching your arms up above your head and pointing your toes, a soft keening sound leaving you as you relax into the bed again.
When your eyes find Jihoon and Yoongi, both of them are staring at your tits, a dazed look on their faces that makes them appear even more alike.
Yoongi snaps out of it first, blinking rapidly and readjusting in the chair, making you notice for the first time just how hard he is.
You knew he’d have to be into the idea of watching you fuck someone else to propose this in the first place, but you didn’t expect him to be so wrought with desire. You can see it on his face now that you’re really looking at him, the passion in his shadowed eyes and the lustful clench of his jaw giving him away.
You bite back a smile and turn your gaze to Jihoon just in time to watch as he slides off the bed and pushes his underwear down. His cock pops up then hangs heavily, the head blushed red and the length wrapped in veins. He’s similar in size to Yoongi, maybe a bit thicker and slightly shorter, and you’re relieved to know both that the condom will fit and that he won’t stretch you beyond your limits.
Finally, you look at his face again, only to find him staring at you, his eyes staying locked with yours as he brings the condom packet up to his mouth and tears it open with his teeth. At first, you think he’s trying (and succeeding) to be sexy, but then you realize his hands are trembling, just a little, just enough to relay the nerves he’s kept hidden.
“I’ll put it on,” you tell him as you extend a hand and wait for him to drop the condom in your palm, beckoning him forward with your other hand until he climbs back up on the bed and settles on his knees in front of you.
Slowly, you reach out and take hold of his cock, not reacting to the stilted gasp and muted swear that escapes Jihoon though you want to coo and kiss his cheek, he’s so adorable. You pinch the tip and roll the condom on with ease, ensuring it’s snug at the base before giving his hip a squeeze and laying back.
He follows you and braces his hands on either side of your head, his eyes heavy lidded and his cheeks flushed as he leans down to kiss you. His cock drags over your thigh before you spread your legs and hitch them up on his hips, one of your hands snaking between your bodies to position him at your entrance.
Jihoon takes in a deep, shuddering breath before beginning to push forward, his eyelids fluttering and his mouth dropping open as he feels the heat of you around his cock for the first time. The condom is a foreign sensation after all these weeks of taking Yoongi bare, and the fact that it’s Jihoon inside you instead of him is even more odd, but you’d be lying if you said it didn’t feel good.
Because it does, he does, especially when you remember that it’s been ten days since you had anything but a vibrator. Jihoon is warm, and thick, and real, and best of all, he’s holding back whimpers, his eyes closed and his face screwed up in pleasure, his hips jerking into yours in little thrusts like he can’t bear to keep still.
When he bottoms out, he collapses to his elbows, leaving his chest pressed against yours and his face just inches away, every microscopic change in his expression obvious to you with him so close.
You can tell he’s steeling himself to pull out, his jaw clenching and his brow furrowing as he draws his hips back slowly, his cock leaving the warm clutch of your pussy until only the head remains. You don’t even think he’s breathing, his cheeks turning red and his face growing pained, like it feels so good, it hurts.
He slides back in and you make the mistake of squeezing down, and that’s when he stutters, “F-fuck, I can’t- ‘m sorry, I’m gonna fucking-”
His cock jerks and twitches and there’s a muted burst of warmth inside of you, one that’s contained in rubber as he tips into the abyss, his forehead dropping down to rest on your collarbone and his body shaking on top of yours.
His gasps sound more like sobs, his beautiful, diminutive cries of pleasure making you flutter around him, prolonging his orgasm until he’s hissing through clenched teeth and digging his hips into yours as if in retribution.
He starts to soften inside of you and you’re content to let him rest and recuperate, but Yoongi has other ideas.
“Get up,” he commands, making your eyes flick over to him, a glower overtaking your face when he repeats himself. “Jihoon, get up.”
Jihoon reaches down and grips the base of his cock as he withdraws from you, holding the condom in place and cringing when he fully leaves your pussy. He slips the condom off and ties a clumsy knot, tossing it in the waste basket that sits under Yoongi’s bedside table before shuffling off the bed.
He doesn’t look at you, and you wonder if he’s too embarrassed or if he thinks he’ll be met with disappointment. Maybe both, and Yoongi certainly isn’t helping the situation. You don’t know what he’s playing at, rushing Jihoon like this, being so harsh when Jihoon’s at his most vulnerable, but you don’t care for it.
“Yoongi,” you murmur lowly, a warning in your voice.
“Baby, I’m not doing this to be mean. I just want him to learn,” Yoongi placates you, rising from the chair and pointing at it. He waits for Jihoon to take a seat before making his way toward you, gripping the back of his shirt to haul it off as he walks. He sheds his sweats next, his boxers dropping with them, and when you set your eyes on his cock, they almost bulge out of your head.
You think this is the hardest you’ve ever seen him, his dick a purplish rose and his balls heavy, full. You’re speechless, wide eyed, as he climbs onto the bed and reaches for your legs. He arranges you how he wants, planting his hands on the underside of your thighs and pushing them up against your body until he can get his shoulders under your knees.
One hand settles next to your head for balance and the other grips his cock, lightly smacking your pussy with it, the weeping head landing right on your swollen clit. You squirm and gasp at the feeling, your entrance clenching around nothing, pushing out more of your arousal to drip down your ass onto the bed.
He does it again, and again, and again, until you’re whimpering and clawing at him, ready to beg him to just fucking put it in already, and that’s when he guides his cock into place and slides home.
You and Yoongi moan in unison, yours more high pitched than his though both ring with relief.
Him and Jihoon don’t feel all that different but Yoongi is familiar, Yoongi is loved, Yoongi is yours, and that heightens every sensation. He stays buried in you, his gaze locked with yours, possession burning in his eyes like a wildfire.
You’re sure it’s because he gets to feel you bare and Jihoon doesn’t, and you wonder if he’s staying still for so long because he wants you to remember who you belong with. Then you feel him twitch inside of you and notice the tension on his face, and you know that’s not the case at all.
It’s that he’s inches away from doing exactly what Jihoon did, except he doesn’t have the excuse of being a virgin.
Yoongi hasn’t cum early in years, has practically become a paragon of self-control and patience, lasting long enough to get you there twice even when you first did away with the condoms. You’re almost gleeful to discover he’s so close to the edge right now, and you’re about to clamp down around him and push him even closer when his eyes harden and he mutters, “Don’t you fucking dare.”
And you try to listen, you really, really do, but you just can’t help the way your pussy responds to him, especially when he uses that voice on you.
So truly, it’s not even your fault when your walls swallow around his cock and suck him in deeper, the ragged groan he lets out only making you clench down more.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry,” you whisper faintly, taking a deep breath and attempting to relax your inner muscles as he starts to pull out. “Don’t go,” you whimper, clinging to whatever skin you can reach, one hand wrapping around the wrist next to your head and the other flying down to grasp his hip.
You’re not strong enough to hold him in place, so you know it’s of his own volition when he stops moving, your cunt squeezing around what’s still inside, your whole body begging him not to leave.
He leans in close and narrows his eyes at you, probably trying to see if you’re playing some kind of trick on him, but you know there’s nothing in your gaze but a frantic wish to keep him inside, to finally feel him fuck you like you’ve needed for the last ten days.
His face softens into something fond and he murmurs, “Gonna give you what you need, baby.”
Then, with his eyes still on yours, he calls out, “Jihoon, c’mere.”
You hear him padding over to the bed, and you’re sure he’s just as confused as you are at his sudden involvement. Yoongi straightens up, breaking free of your hold and sitting back on his knees before gripping your hips tightly and pulling your ass into his lap, filling you with his cock and making space at the head of the bed in one rough move.
“Get on the bed, grab her hands,” Yoongi tells Jihoon, his stern voice leaving no room for questioning.
It seems Jihoon has learned his lesson by now, obeying Yoongi quickly and carefully, sliding into place behind you with his legs spread under your shoulders. His hands reach for yours and you offer them with only a little apprehension, gasping when he lifts your upper body enough for your head to rest on his thigh, your hands held against his toned stomach.
“Comfy, babe?” Yoongi asks you, waiting for you to nod before drawing his hips back until only the tip rests inside of you. He shoves forward, his pelvis smacking into your ass, a slick squelch sounding when he bottoms out.
He doesn’t give you any time to get used to it, every thrust that follows just as deep, just as vicious.
The rhythm of his cock slamming into you overtakes your heartbeat, your cunt throbbing and drooling around him as he rams into you, forcing your wetness out of your pussy and your thoughts out of your head.
Soon enough, you’re mindless with pleasure and writhing in their laps, arching into and away from the wicked bucking of Yoongi’s hips, his cock plunging into you so fast and so hard, you aren’t sure you’ll survive.
You can’t stop crying either, whining and blubbering nonsense words intercut with your boyfriend’s name, pleading for him to keep going because you’ll die if he stops but also he might kill you if he doesn’t.
“You can take it, baby,” Yoongi breathlessly assures you, his eyes lighting up with a devilish idea. “Maybe you just need something to focus on. Turn your head.”
Maybe he’s right, maybe you do just need to devote what little brain power you have left to something, so you turn your head and there it is, Jihoon’s bright red, rock hard cock.
With a desirous moan, you lean forward and drag your tongue up the side of his shaft, following one of the veins that winds around his dick like a vine. He chokes out a groan, his hands holding yours tighter when you tilt your head back and whimper, “Jihoon, please, put it in my mouth.”
There are tears streaming down your cheeks as you part your lips, laying your tongue out to entice him more. Yoongi is still fucking you, hasn’t let up for even a second, and you can feel his eyes on you as Jihoon transfers your hands to one of his and grips the base of his dick, pointing it in your direction and slowly feeding it into your mouth.
The angle is awkward but you can work with it, letting out a garbled ‘thank you’ and consciously relaxing your throat so he can slide deeper inside.
“That’s my girl, such nice manners,” Yoongi coos with a slight tone of condescension, watching as you swallow around Jihoon’s cock and fight not to choke.
“Wanna feel something amazing?” Yoongi asks Jihoon, who mutters doubtfully, “Something better than this?” and then he must nod because Yoongi says, “Put your hand on her throat. You can squeeze a little.”
Both of your hands are still gathered up in one of Jihoon’s, and you feel his free hand tentatively wrap around your neck, making you whine around him and clench around Yoongi.
“Fuck, is that my-” An avid groan cuts him off, his fingers spasming on your throat, though they don’t tighten to the point of pain.
A trickle of precum slides down your esophagus and you swallow again, your throat working around his thick cock, taking in another inch. You’re almost at the root now, close enough for your chin to brush his balls, and you’re about to get the last little bit inside when Yoongi scoops his hips on a stroke out and grinds right over your g-spot.
You squeak and jerk between them, your back arching as he starts to aim every single thrust there, battering the patch of nerves until you think you’ll cum just from this, just from his dick inside of you.
Then you feel his hand work itself between your thighs, his fingers cruel and exacting on your clit, and you have to pull off of Jihoon to gasp for air as an orgasm tears through you like a tornado, your pleasure wild, furious, devastating.
He doesn’t let up for even a minute, fucking you through it and leaning down over you to sink a hand into your hair, guiding your mouth back to Jihoon’s cock.
“Make him cum, baby.”
You bury him in your mouth again, nuzzling down until your nose brushes his skin and his cock fills your throat. He twitches and leaks, and you just know he’s close, but you don’t have the right angle to bob your head up and down, to give him any friction. All you can do is swallow and moan plaintively and hope it’ll be enough to carry him over the edge.
Your teary eyes flicker up and lock with his, and that’s what does it. His face crumples and a strangled moan forces its way out of his mouth as his cum shoots down your throat, his cock twitching, pulsing, throbbing between your lips. His grasp on your hands is so tight, it almost hurts, but the fingers on your neck never grip harder, never constrict to the point of suffocation.
Your throat convulses around him and he pulls out with a wounded sound, probably too sensitive to stay in the wet heat of your mouth any longer. His hand pets your neck and glides up to your face, wiping your tears away and cupping your cheek as Yoongi’s fingers start to swirl between your legs again.
You don’t know if you have another release left in you, but if you do, Yoongi will draw it out, and he’ll do it with a smile on his face. He’s mean that way, but so nice too, and now that all you have to focus on is the feeling of him surging in and out of you, the spark of painful bliss is familiar.
It reminds you that you’ve survived him before, and that this time won’t be any different even if you don’t feel like the same person after.
Yoongi fucks you like he’s remaking you in the shape of him, like he wants to take you down to your nuts and bolts then build you back up in a new form, one that bears his signature. It’s raw and rough and filthy, but beautiful too, which is always how he leaves you feeling when he’s had his way with you.
That’s the last thought you have before he sweeps all of them up and away with one final circle of his fingers on your sensitive, swollen clit.
Euphoria and agony battle within you, your climax excruciating but rapturous, sending you into a spiral of warring sensations that have you near delirious until finally, finally, finally, Yoongi lets himself break.
You whimper at the feeling of his cock hardening and twitching in your spent pussy but his cum flowing into you is a balm, soaking your delicate, tender walls with a warm wash of white. You breathe through the sting of overstimulation, your eyes watering again and your body shuddering between Jihoon and Yoongi.
Sometimes Yoongi stays inside after but you think he can tell you’re too wrung out, so he carefully slides out of you and lowers your legs from his shoulders, his palms gliding up and down your thighs in a soothing manner.
“Jihoon,” he says softly, his eyes still on you. “Go through that door and grab a washcloth from the closet, the softest one you can find. Get it wet with some warm water and bring it here.”
Jihoon is quick to follow Yoongi’s instruction, supporting your neck as he slips out from under you and brushing a thumb over your cheekbone before he leaves.
You hear the opening and closing of a door, then running water, then the quiet padding of feet on hardwoods. Your eyes have fluttered closed but you’re not surprised when you feel gentle hands cleaning you up, dabbing the washcloth between your legs, mindful of your sensitivity.
They fly open when you hear Yoongi say, “You can stay in the guestroom, if you want. It’s clean and ready for you.”
“You can stay in the guestroom, Jihoon is staying right here,” you assert, reaching blindly for him and clinging to his hand when you find it.
The time after losing your virginity can be fraught with emotion, and you’re not going to make Jihoon go through that alone. You also happen to feel unbearably fond of him now, and you’re itching to give him the affection he deserves after listening to Yoongi so well.
Yoongi just holds his hands up in surrender, muttering, “You’re middle spoon, then.”
As if that’s some kind of hardship.
Yoongi pulls two pairs of pajamas and a big t-shirt out of his drawer, passing one set over to Jihoon before walking over to you and carefully pulling the t-shirt over your head. He reaches into the arm holes and pulls your arms through like you can’t do it yourself, and you’d tease him if you didn’t feel so exhausted, you could pass out.
You have to get up so Yoongi can strip the comforter off the bed, and instead of putting it in the wash like he should, he just tosses it to the floor and grabs the backup from the closet. He waits for you to get under the sheets before throwing it over you, letting it float down to cover the bed and climbing in behind you.
Clothed in his borrowed pajamas, Jihoon awkwardly hovers by the side of the bed, looking unsure. You turn down his side of the comforter and reach a tired hand out, sighing contentedly when he blushes, smiles, and slides in, snuggling up against you.
Yoongi’s arm wraps around your waist and yours wraps around Jihoon’s, and the three of you sink into sleep easily, comfortably, warmly, even as the sun rises and seeps through the edges of your blackout curtains.
They’re making breakfast together and chatting about music when you limp downstairs, fresh out of the shower and starving out of your mind. You wonder if it will be awkward, but then Yoongi presses a kiss to your cheek and raises a brow at Jihoon, clapping him on the shoulder when he does the same, and that's how you know things will be just fine.

hi hi, big fan of Real Eyes, Fake Lies, and all your other work as well. I've constantly been checking for an update, so i'm glad to finally see you're back!! і hope the little break was refreshing and that your holidays have been well <3
I'm excited for what's to come in the next chapters! I've been feeling iffy about Ji-ah for some time, and her sudden change in demeanor has me skeptical even more so. someone please slap some sense into Jihoon. can't wait for more!!
and also, A Wilted Rose has me screaming at the way Jihoon is (painfully) slowly acting like a husband, even if it's just to protect Y/N. i hope he comes to the realization that it’s okay to actually BE A HUSBAND.
here we have me reading both stories, screaming
and here is me PLEADING for more
Oh my goodness you’re way too sweet 😭
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my stories 🫶🏼 I don’t have the heart to write Ji-ah as a bad person so I’m glad that people still understand the intentions I have for her 😁 but I do agree some sense needs to be knocked into jihoon 100% but I’m all about the slow burn 😂
Thank you for loving a wilted rose too!! I have a lot more ideas for little drabbles for this one so stay tuned! 🫶🏼

Hi!
I love your story of Real Lies and Fake Eyes.
They way you describe reader's emotions and feelings of insecurity is amazing.
I think it would be interesting to see reader getting a new group of friends who spend so much time with her she slowly starts drifting from the group and then Jihoon follows her to make sure she's okay.
Another idea would be Reader snapping and going on her own to somewhere else alone without telling anyone... But Jihoon follows and finds her
Hi there, lovely!
Oh my goodness thank you so much for your kind words 🫶🏼
Ooh you’ll definitely be excited for what I have in store, then with your ideas!! I have a little something planned with an idea almost identical to yours so I’m excited to see what you think of it! 🩷
Thank you for the love 😍

Part Two? | Ask to be added to my taglist
Lee Jihoon’s family is known as one of the most feared Mafia families in South Korea, his great grandparents having made a reputation for themselves that has been held up for generations.
Jihoon was born an only child and singular heir to the Lee fortune and the Lee legacy; having known from a young age that he would eventually end up being the leader of the Lee clan. He knew the family business was dangerous, and since being taught the ropes at 13, he knew that his relationships could be used against him from rival clans. This reason alone caused him to be cautious and callous with who he associated with. He only has two important people he would consider his friends.
His closest friend, Kwon Soonyoung also doubles as his right hand man. Both men grew up together due to Soonyoung’s father being close with Jihoon’s. Their frequent meetings caused the young men to be around eachother for long bouts of time, eventually being homeschooled together while their father’s talked business. For Jihoon, Soonyoung is the one and only person he could trust on this earth- time and time again, he has always proved his unchallenged loyalty to Jihoon and his father’s family. If Jihoon was irrational and unfiltered, Soonyoung was his voice of reason and his level-headed decision maker. To him, it was a match made in heaven.
The second person he considered his friend, or used to, was you. You came into both Jihoon and Soonyoung’s life at 8 years old, your family having been hired by Master Lee to work as live-in staff in their mansion. You were the only other child Jihoon and Soonyoung’s age, and despite Master Lee’s cold heart, he grew to treat you like his daughter and let Jihoon frequently spend his younger years playing with his two closest friends when they weren’t being homeschooled together until he was of age to get into the family business.
12 months ago, when Jihoon had just turned 25, Master Lee announced his soon to be retirement to his son. The only condition for Jihoon to step up to be head of the family business was simple but to Jihoon, was absolutely atrocious.
“I don’t understand why you think me marrying would be advantageous to the family, father.” He hisses, adjusting his chain around his neck, glaring at the stupid red rose, the Lee family staple, perfectly pinned to his lapel.
“It is not to a random woman, Jihoon.” Master Lee frowned.
“That makes it worse!” He barked, leaning his head back in frustration.
“Jihoon. You have to know that no one can be trusted in this business. I am not allowing you to marry outside of who we trust. They can slither their way into your heart and when you are at your most vulnerable, they take everything out from under you. If the enemy knows you’re committed to someone already, it keeps them from hurting us from the inside.”
“Yeah, it also makes Y/N the number one target to the enemy and they will try and swipe her away from under our noses!” He’s yelling now.
He would never admit it to anyone, but he cares too much for you. You’re too good to be associated with the dastardly business that is associated with being in the mafia; you’re a good hearted person who happily serves the Lee family alongside your just as good parents. You’re the one good thing that Jihoon has left, and he’d be damned if he couldn’t protect you.
“It’s not like you’re going to be parading her out for missions and stake outs.” Master Lee frowns. “She is only for the parties. So others know that you’re a committed man that will not waver. I guarantee you she will be protected. She will be treated like a queen in here, and she won’t ever have to see the dark side of the business. Son, I promise you.”
For 12 months, Jihoon, in the public eye was the perfect model husband with you. He stayed by your side faithfully at galas and parties, parading you around with a look of what was perceived as adoration by others. Behind closed doors however, Jihoon treated you like a ghost. Long gone was your once closest friend who you stayed up late with to binge watch stupid movies, playing video games and pranks on Soonyoung. The only thing that remained was a quiet man that only greeted you for one meal a day, to his insistence for the sake of ‘normalcy.’ In your opinion, it felt anything but. Your attempts at conversion were shut down with one worded answers or sometimes none at all, and over time, you grew to enjoy your meal with your husband in silence before going about your day around the Lee mansion alone.
Jihoon thought his father’s plan was working. For 12 months, his wife was safe and protected and never got caught up with any of the mafia business. He was in alliance with most rival clans and worked out plans and deals to work for the foreseeable future.
Sadly for Jihoon, Master Lee was full of shit.
Jihoon is frantic. The staff had alerted him while out for a meeting with an ally clan that you had been injured. They were intentionally vague with details, knowing their boss would fly off the handle at the extent to what your injuries were.
“She’s at home.” Jihoon hears Soonyoung’s voice over the phone.
“What the fuck happened, Soonyoung.” He is sure he is making his driver break at least 10 different road laws right now to get back to the mansion. He makes a mental note to contact the local police and send some generous gift baskets.
“The guards don’t know. I’m trying to get it out of them, but no luck yet.”
“She shouldn’t have been out unsupervised.” Jihoon winces, rubbing at his temples. “Tell them if they don’t give you an honest answer by the time I’m back, I will have their tongues.”
“Just go to her right now, Hoon-ah.”
Marching into the living room, Jihoon makes his presence known by the heavy thuds of his boots on the tiled floor. His eyes scan the room until they finally land on you, his childhood friend and arranged wife, sitting anxiously on the couch. He feels his eye twitch at the sight of no guards in sight, you having been left alone since you have returned.
You lift your head up shakily, your eyes widening at the sight of your husband. His long hair, usually sported in a bun atop his head is now strewn about and falling out of the elastic holding it together, suit jacket scrunched and twisted, red rose nowhere to be found. You’re astonished, having grown so used to seeing your husband with his perfect red rose on his lapel at all times. What you didn’t know that after having found out about your capture, he thrown it to the ground in frustration of his worst fears coming true.
“Jihoon?” You blink nervously.
This is the first time you’ve seen him properly (minus your daily lunches) for maybe a month. He stares intently across the room at you, scanning your body. You’re cradling your left wrist in your hand, a bruise in the perfect shape of a hand print forming around your wrist. His eyes lift to your face, his blood boiling at the sight of a small cut across your cheek, your right eye swelling up and starting to turn purple.
“I-I’m sorry,” you stutter, biting down on your lip. “I know I shouldn’t have-“
You flinch at the sight of Jihoon striding forward, only to pause when he walks straight past you and into the kitchen, causing your shoulders to deflate. You were stupid to think your best friend had come back for only a moment. You sink sadly into the couch, curling up slowly.
Your head stays facing down at the floor as you run your fingertip over the hand print on your wrist, wincing and hissing as you press a little too hard. You sigh after a moment, moving to stand up before you pause at the sight of Jihoon’s expensive dress shoes directly in front of you.
You look up nervously at him as he reaches out, delicately taking your wrist, face neutral as he runs his fingers gently over the bruise just like you had done, eyebrows furrowing. You shiver slightly, this being the first physical contact you have felt from your husband in months. Next, he reaches forward and tucks a stray hair behind your cheek before examining the darkening bruise over your eye. At this, you see his eyes darken, heaving a heavy sigh through his nose.
“Who the fuck did this to you.” His voice is soft as he eyes you.
“I-I…”
“I need to know who did this.” He pleads.
“It was Hwang.” You whimper.
His jaw clenches. Hwang has sworn vengeance against the Lee family ever since Master Lee cut ties and alliances with the Hwang’s over his unethical practices. In Hwang’s words, he wanted to poison the perfect garden of roses that Master Lee built.
“H-he said it was a warning..” you can’t look Jihoon in the face. “T-to keep your wife on a leash or else something could happen. Jihoon, I’m so sorry, I really shouldn’t have gone out, I didn’t want to cause any more trouble.” You’re crying softly now, wincing at the pain that your swelling is causing.
You tense up as you feel something cool delicately rest on your cheek, opening your eyes to see your husband holding an ice pack gently to your face. Your eyebrows furrow in confusion as he moves you so you’re sitting down on the couch once more.
“You stay here until Soonyoung gets back to look after you, okay?” He instructs you as you just stare at him, bewildered. “Do you hear me, Y/N?” You nod your head slowly as you cradle the ice pack to your cheek. “Good.”
You watch Jihoon turn around and march back towards the front door of the mansion, pointing to Mr Kim, one of the guards who has been in Jihoon’s family for years. “Make sure no one comes inside this mansion except for me and Soonyoung. You guard her with your life until he gets here.” The man nods his head sternly as he moves to stand in the doorway between the living room and the entryway.
“J-Jihoon? Where are you going?” You ask nervously as your husband adjusts the gun holster around his waist, his voice cold and deadly, sending a shiver down your spine.
“I’m going to kill the fucker who thought he could touch my wife and get away with it.”
And with that, the door slams behind him, leaving you alone with Mr Kim eyeing the door sternly.
You stay anxiously in the living room for what feels like an eternity, waiting to hear anything from Jihoon or his guards. You jolt at the sound of the door after only 15 minutes of sitting in silence, breathing a sigh of relief as you see Soonyoung rush inside and run straight towards you.
“Soon…” you whimper as he meets you halfway, immediately pulling you close and hugging you to his chest.
“Fuck, Y/N, I’m sorry I wasn’t there.” He breathes out, shaky. “The one fucking day I had to go run some errands…”
You hate the fact that Hwang probably waited for Soonyoung to be away from you to strike.
“Soon, it’s fine…” you whisper, wincing as he pulls away to look down at your face, closely examining your swelling eye.
“It’s not fine, look at you!”
“I’m still alive, aren’t I?” You whisper, and he just sighs with frustration, leading you to the couch and sitting you up against the cushions, laying a fluffy blanket over you.
“You’re going to sit here and we are going to watch some tv until Jihoon-ah gets back, okay?” He settles down beside you.
“Soonyoung, you can go have a shower or eat or something...” Your voice is low as he scrolls through random movies to play on Netflix.
“Nope.” He made a promise to stay with you until Jihoon gets back, and he will stay true to his word. Eating and washing up can wait.
“Y/N-ah.” Soonyoung glances at his phone after a few hours. The ice pack against your cheek is now lukewarm, your legs having shaken non-stop since you’d been forced to sit down.
“Hm..” you hum in response.
“Jihoon-ah will be home in 5 minutes. He asked for me to give you both some privacy and take care of some clean-up. Will you be okay with Mr Kim watching you?”
“Okay.” You respond nervously, teeth sinking into your bottom lip as Soonyoung gently touches your good cheek with his finger.
“I’ll be in the other room making calls if you get scared between now and then. Okay?”
“Thank you, Soonie.” You whisper, looking up at him with a grateful smile.
“You’re welcome.” He smiles back before turning around and walking down the hall, leaving you alone once more as the panic begins to rise in your body.
You’re lucky you don’t have to wait long, as true to Soonyoungs word, Jihoon steps inside his mansion and into the living room not even 5 minutes later, heaving a sigh. When you spot him, you rush quickly to him, immediately noticing the blood on his shirt and causing you to panic even more.
“Oh god.. you’re bleeding, what have I done? Your father will have me for this.” You quickly try to wipe the blood off his shirt (which you’re relieved to realize isn’t his). Jihoon surprises you both as he reaches forward to take your injured wrist again, pulling you to him and wrapping his arms tight around your waist.
He pulls your head into the crook of his neck, squeezing you to him as his chin rests on top of your head, grip tight on your shirt. You’re shaking before you just melt into his embrace, holding onto his jacket tight as he hums.
“Are you okay.” When you just nod, he pulls back to look into your face. “I need to hear it from you, Y/N. Please… just humor me.”
“Yeah, I’m okay, Hoonie.” You breathe out with wide eyes.
Why does he look so scared?
He sighs with finality before he pulls you back to him, hugging you tight for the first time since he was forced to hold you at your wedding over 12 months ago.
“We will need more security.” He mumbles to you as he holds you tight. “Guards at every post. When we go out, when you’re out in the garden, everywhere. It’s clear they know your schedule so we need to throw them off your scent.” He is talking a mile a minute as he keeps you close to his chest, afraid you’d slip away. “As a precaution, I will have guards sweep the house for any bugs they could have planted. Tonight, we will sleep in the safe house. Is that okay with you, Y/N?”
“Yeah, that’s fine.” You whisper, your face buried in his shirt. You don’t want to leave his side as much as he doesn’t too - this being the most affection you’ve gotten from someone in 12 months.
“Fuck.” Jihoon didn’t account for the fact his safe house only had one king size bed. “You can take the bed, okay… I can take the couch.”
“Don’t be silly.” You hum, already dragging him to the bed. “We’re both adults here. I think we can handle sharing a bed. We used to in school, right Hoonie?”
“I mean yeah, but we weren’t married then.”
“We’re only married on paper. Why are you being so iffy?” You laugh, wincing as your smile hurts your bruising cheek. Without thinking, he reaches out to cup your face worriedly, examining the bruise before rushing out to the kitchen, returning a few moments later with a small ice pack to press to your cheek.
“I’d feel more comfortable if you were close, Hoon. Please.” You ask quieter now as he rocks awkwardly on his heels.
“Only until you’re asleep.” He bargains, and you nod quickly.
“Deal.”
After an awkward intermission of you both getting ready to share the bed for the first time since your wedding, you’re finally drifting off, curled up beside your husband as he sits up against the bed head, stiff as a board in sweatpants and a large jumper. Jihoon lays on top of the blankets so he can make an easy get away when you fall into a deep sleep.
He’s about to up and leave as your breathing evens out, thinking you’re asleep when he feels you shift. You scoot closer, hand finding his as your head nestles comfortably against his shoulder. You visibly relax at his warmth, your shaky hands slowing to a stop as you essentially glue yourself to his side. He tenses up, looking down at you with wide eyes as you finally fall asleep. He frowns deeply at the sight of your bruise showing before aggressively sighing to himself and wrapping his free arm around you to hold you against his chest. He is unable to resist your cuteness. That, and he wants to protect you, of course.
Jihoon refuses to sleep a wink in case someone tries to break in, but after hour four of him stroking your arm delicately with his cheek resting on top of your forehead, he feels himself drifting off.
When he wakes up, he sees you’re still cuddled up to him, but almost jumps out of his skin when he sees Soonyoung standing at the foot of the bed with a knowing smirk on his face.
“It took you long enough to treat your wife like she is your wife.”
“Shut the fuck up.” Jihoon hisses out as quietly as possible to not wake you, his cheeks bright red. “If she wakes up, I’ll have your head.”
“I’m sure you will.” He winks.
“Kwon Soonyoung I swear to god if my wife wasn’t sleeping against me right now, you’d be six feet under.”
“Mhm~” he sing songs, stepping out the bedroom door.
“If you tell anyone, you’re dead.”

“It’s you, isn’t it?”
Jihoon stares at your brother’s soulmate with wide eyes.
“Is what me?”
“Don’t bullshit me, Lee.” Jeonghan frowns, arms crossed tight across his chest. “Y/N. Are you her soulmate or not?”
Jihoon’s heart skips a beat as he pauses.
“What makes you think that?”
Jeonghan notes his avoidance of the question. “It all adds up a little too well. She found her soulmate the day you were supposed to walk her home. She avoids you like the plague unless she has to be near you. She can barely look in your direction but you stare at her like a lost puppy. I see you smiling about her when you think no one is looking. But… you have Ji-ah.” Your soulmate grimaces. “And knowing my Ladybug, which I do, she would never want to separate a couple if she can help it. She’s too selfless for that. She would give her worst enemy the shirt off her back if she thought it would help.” Jeonghan’s eyes look glazed over, tears filling them. “All of the evidence I’ve seen concludes that you’re her soulmate and she is tearing herself apart to keep you happy.”
“How do you know she is hurting?”
“She is drinking.” Jeonghan mutters. “She only ever drinks if she’s really upset about something. This is the only thing I can chalk it up to. Am I correct?”
“No. You’re wrong.” Jihoon lies through his teeth.
“I hope I am.” Jeonghan retorts quickly. “Because what I’ve heard from Soonyoung about you, you’re a great person.” Your soulmate winces as he feels the guilt seep in again. “I know someone wouldn’t willingly do this to someone as sweet as her.”
“You don’t know me.” Jihoon’s voice is small.
“You’re right. I don’t.” He agrees. “Look, I don’t care if you are or if you’re not. All I care about is that girl back there. If you are her soulmate, you need to stop giving her goo-goo eyes while you’re with another girl and giving her false hope. You need to cut the tether. Let the girl heal in her own way because you two being around each other is giving her hope of a relationship that will never happen.”
“You don’t think I’ve tried that?” He hisses. “I have tried to fucking avoid her and let her heal and let her forget about me!” There are tears in his eyes now.
“If I could change how it turned out, I would. I’m her fucking project partner and her best friend is my best friend. This stupid invisible force keeps drawing me to her and I’m hating it.” His words keep spilling out, the tears beginning to fall.
“I feel her cry every fucking night and I can’t do anything about it and help her without hurting someone else! And the worst part is that still despite everything, she hasn’t told anyone because she doesn’t want anything bad to happen to me! I don’t deserve her! I want to stop her suffering and leave her alone but I can’t! What am I supposed to fucking do?!”
Jeonghan sighs and stares at your soulmate in tears before him. “Is it stupid to say follow your heart?”
“Yes.”
He chuckles. “Then I say make your choice and make it quickly. I can’t stand to see that kid go through any more pain than what she has been through, you better be fast.” Jihoon winces as he watches Jeonghan turn around and begin to walk away. “Jihoon-ssi, Consider yourself lucky that it was me that noticed and not her brother. If it was him, you’d be dead where you stand. Do you understand?”
“Yeah.” Jihoon whispers, running his fingers through his hair slowly.
“Good. I hope I don’t have to tell you to stop hurting her again.”
Jihoon stares up at the starry sky as Jeonghan makes his way back to the campsite, tears still falling down his cheeks. His mind is running a mile a minute, his lungs squeezing as he tries to control his breathing.
What the fuck is he going to do?
It takes Jihoon another 20 minutes before he makes his way back to the group, his brain just as jumbled as it was before. He is no closer to a solution than he was before being confronted by Jeonghan, and he is sure he isn’t going to have it by the end of the night. He looks to the picnic table first, looking to see you still wedged between Jisoo and Seungcheol, sipping from your third bottle of soju. Your eyes are glazed over as you lean quietly into Jisoo’s side, a dopey smile on your face as you laugh at Soonyoung. Jisoo’s arm is kept tightly around you, rubbing your arm soothingly as Seungcheol speaks in hushed whispers with his soulmate.
Jeonghan’s words have planted a seed of worry in Jihoon’s brain as he spots Seokmin watch his soulmate with adoring eyes, who is currently fawning over you. He really should figure out what to do with his fucked up situation, but for now, he makes his way to his housemates and his not-soulmate. He plants himself down in the camping chair next to Ji-ah, who doesn’t seem to notice his arrival. Instead, she is staring at her phone with a little smile forming on her face.
“Did your sister send you some dress ideas, babe?” Jihoon asks, the pet name leaving a bad taste in his mouth.
His presence startles Ji-ah, yelping and almost dropping her phone. “Huh?”
“I just asked if that was your sister.”
“O-oh.” She laughed, tucking her hair behind her ear. “Uhh.. yeah, just talking about cake flavor ideas.” She shoves her phone quickly into her pocket before he can see, cheeks flushed. Jihoon simply hums and nods as he leans forward slightly to listen in on Mingyu and Wonwoo’s conversation.
“No~!” Jihoon hears you whining as Seungkwan takes Seungcheol’s spot beside you. “I want it, Boo.” You jutt your bottom lip out as Seungkwan holds the bottle of soju above your head.
“Ah-ah. No.” His voice is firm. “That is bottle number three when you have had no food in you. It’s time to eat.”
“Why?” You sigh dramatically.
“Because you’re going to get alcohol poisoning.” Jisoo tries to encourage you.
“Maybe I want to get blackout drunk.” You huff.
“Maybe,” Seungcheol agrees with you, leaning against Seungkwan’s back as he held the alcohol high above your reach. “But in this family, we drink responsibly. You will get this back when you eat at least one bowl of rice and some meat.”
“Come on, you,” Soonyoung sits atop the table in front of you, holding the chopsticks full of food towards you. “One bite at a time.”
“No.” You grumble, turning your head away from him.
“If you eat, you get the soju back, Goober.” Jisoo encourages beside you, still rubbing at your arm as you look up at him. Your frown is still visible as he smiles down to you, nodding eagerly. After a long sigh, you open your mouth obediently as Soonyoung puts the awaiting food into your mouth.
“There we go!” Seokmin grins and claps happily at you.
“Good girl.” Jisoo praises, and your cheeks turn red as a small smile forms on your lips, something that doesn’t go unnoticed by your soulmate.
Soonyoung wordlessly offers more food to you, which you take eagerly with Jisoo’s praises, but Jihoon can’t help but stare at your blushing cheeks and dazed smile at your brother's friend with each bite. For the upteenth time that night, Jihoon pushes down the uncomfortable feeling that settles in his stomach as he tries to remember Jeonghan’s words to tell him to move on from you.
Within five minutes, almost the whole plate is finished by you, your rosy cheeks puffed up as you look hopefully to Seungkwan. “I did good?”
“Hmm~” he hums appreciatively. “You sure did.” He grins, patting your head sweetly as he passes the soju to Jisoo.
“Now, you can have this back, but you gotta be good and drink slowly. Okay, Goober?”
“Yes, Shua-‘ppa.” You chirp through your last mouthful of food, and giggle gleefully as he passes the alcohol to you.
Jihoon purposely attempts to keep his back to you to avoid the temptation to keep an eye on you. You’re clearly tipsy at best, and too many nights of handling a drunk, clingy Mingyu have conditioned him to want to try and keep an eye on you to see if you’ll be just as destructive as your friend.
To his surprise though, for the rest of the night you stay by Jisoo’s side, nestled delicately against him. Jisoo doesn’t mind, on the contrary, he has kept up his conversations with the others well as his arm absentmindedly keeps you close, stroking your shoulder as he talks. You stay happily curled up, fiddling with a box of beads and string that Jisoo has brought for the trip, making bracelets as you hum drunkenly to yourself.
“Hyung,” Mingyu is whispering to your brother, standing by the fire near Jihoon’s seat, who can’t help but listen to his housemate speak. “Are you sure you should be letting Y/N-ie drink?”
“She’s not hurting anyone, is she?” Seungcheol deadpans, raising an eyebrow. “Look at her. She’s fine.”
Jihoon follows the line of view with Mingyu, observing you. You’re smiling quietly as you delicately place a purple flower bead onto the small plastic thread, Jisoo leaning down and whispering something in your ear, making you giggle and nudge his side before testing the length of the bracelet around his wrist.
“Aren’t they a little too close?” Wonwoo comments, a frown of concern on his face as your soulmate keeps his eyes on you tying the end of the bracelet around Jisoo’s wrist securely.
“If you’re trying to insinuate my friend would make a move on my sister, you’re wrong.” Seungcheol hums nonchalantly, taking a swig of his beer. “We were all close as kids. This is exactly like how they were.”
“Is Shua single, babe?” Jeonghan asks your brother, loud enough for Jihoon to hear. Jihoon frowns deeply, knowing what he is trying to do.
“I mean, he has a soulmate.” Seungcheol responds, Jeonghan keeping his eyes on Jihoon. “He hasn’t seen them for a long time, but he has one.”
“Interesting.” Is Jeonghan’s only response, sipping his drink as he eyes your soulmate’s obvious grimace.
Your giggles filled the comfortable silence for most of the relaxed evening as you watch Seungkwan nag to Soonyoung, wagging his finger in his face as the older boy starts to imitate him. The night has begun to quiet down now, nearing close to 1am as some of the group have retreated to their tents for the evening, leaving only Seungcheol, Jeonghan, Jisoo, Soonyoung, Seokmin, Seungkwan, Jihoon and yourself left awake. Although, you are clearly losing the battle of consciousness.
You’re currently on your upteenth bracelet of the night, blinking blearily as you place the rainbow beads carefully onto the thread as Jisoo, who now hasn’t left your side almost all evening, joins in as he seems to be making a necklace. Jihoon has been preparing to go back to his tent for a little while now, but he finds himself not able to rest until everyone else has. He stays put in his camping chair as he watches you and your friends wind down for the evening.
“Hey, you.” Seokmin leans over you, making you lean backwards against his front, relishing in his warmth as you hum in content.
“Hi.” You smile sleepily, watching as Seokmin reaches down to tie the bracelet against your wrist.
“Ready for bed, hm?” He smiles down to you as you begin to pout. Before you can speak, though, he laughs. “Come on, Bug, we are going into the city tomorrow to go to the beach. We need to rest so we can have a fun beach day.”
Jihoon can see the gears ticking in your head as you process his words, lip still in a deep frown. It’s cute.
“The bracelets will be here for you tomorrow, y’know.” Jisoo chimes in with a charming smile. “And we are all going to bed now so you won’t miss out.”
“Mm…Kay.” You yawn.
“C’mon.” Soonyoung coos, taking your hand as you rise, reaching up and rubbing at your eye tiredly. He wraps you in a fluffy blanket as he leads you to the large inflatable pool. He glances at Seungcheol and Jeonghan as he passes them, whispering. “Do you have the painkillers for tomorrow?” When they nod, he nods with approval before scooping you up and settling you down on the pillows beside his soulmate who takes you carefully.
“Ready for some stargazing?” Seokmin smiles as you nod silently, already leaning back and looking up at the clear, starry sky as Soonyoung lays down beside you. Your eyes begin to tiredly flutter closed, your head falling and resting against your best friend’s shoulder.
“I thought you said she wasn’t affectionate and cuddly with soulmated people?” Jisoo asked your brother curiously as you snuggle with your friends.
“Normally she isn’t.” Seungcheol hums.
“She’s been drinking, that’s why.” Jeonghan chimes in as he cleans the last of the rubbish on the table.
“Did you end up finding out why?” Your brother asks quietly. “She only ever does when something has really hurt her.”
Jeonghan pauses with a quick glance to Jihoon before shaking his head, a pang of guilt building inside him. “No. She wouldn’t tell me.”
“She will tell you about it when she’s ready, I’m sure.” Jisoo replies sagely with a smile that makes Jihoon almost scoff. He has known you for five minutes.
“Yeah, but…” Seungcheol sighs.
“Hey, no buts.” His soulmate smiles, pecking his lips. “She’s in the safest hands she could be in. And like Joshuji said, she will tell us when she is ready.”
After the others all made their way to their tents for the night, (and after a stupid longing stare at you resting in Soonyoung’s arms) Jihoon heaves a sigh as he steps into his small tent to see Ji-ah sitting straight up on the mattress, looking as if she’d seen a ghost.
“Babe?” The name leaves a bitter taste in his mouth that he chooses to ignore. It causes Ji-ah to jolt, not sensing his presence. “Is everything alright?”
“Jihoon,” she sighs nervously. “Something has happened. I… tomorrow when we go to the city I need to go home.”
“Wait, what?” Jihoon’s eyes widened as he crawled onto the mattress beside his not-soulmate. She tenses. “What’s happened? Do you need me to go with you?”
“No!” She insists quickly, making Jihoon jolt in shock. “I mean… no,” she takes a shaky breath and laughs awkwardly. “No.. it’s fine. I just need to get home as soon as I can.”
“Are you sure you don’t want me to come?” He reaches for her hand, which she hesitantly takes.
“Yes, I’m sure, babe.” She smiles, although to him it almost seems like a grimace. He pauses for a moment before nodding.
“Okay. I’ll get Jeonghan-ssi to take a detour on the way to the beach tomorrow.”
“Thank you…” she smiled again, a bit more genuine this time as they both moved to lay down to rest, although Jihoon doesn’t think he will be able to sleep any time soon - the memories of Jeonghan’s words and your heartbroken face playing over in his head on loop.
At the ripe time of 8:14am, Jihoon steps out of the tent with Ji-ah’s suitcase in tow, wincing at the bright sunlight shining through the trees on the campsite. He rubs at his eyes tiredly, glancing around at the state of the others.
At the early hour, only a few are awake and making breakfast for the (most likely) hungover others who are still resting. Jeonghan and Seungcheol man the barbecue, Jisoo putting all the food onto plates for everyone once they wake. Jihoon can’t help but frown a little at Jisoo before he glances over to where he knows he shouldn’t look.
Seokmin and Soonyoung are awake, sitting up and talking quietly to each other with a still resting you sleeping against Soonyoung’s chest. Your face is hidden from everybody, buried against the soft fabric of your best friend’s hoodie, protecting you from the brightness of the sun. Soonyoung is patting the back of your head as he speaks intimately with Seokmin, who is scratching your back absentmindedly. Jihoon watches for a moment, nose scrunching up slightly before he turns to make his way to your brother and his soulmate.
“Umm, Jeonghan-hyung,” Jihoon starts nervously. Hyung is fine, right? It’s respectful enough. “Can I please talk to you for a second?”
Jeonghan looks genuinely surprised at your soulmate standing before him, looking dare he says… scared? He’s amused as he watches Jihoon glance at your brother nervously for a split second. Your brother pays him no mind, still tending to the food so it doesn’t burn.
“Sure, give me a second.” He smiles, stepping out from behind the barbecue to the picnic table a few meters away, Jihoon trailing behind awkwardly.
“I’d like to ask a favor.” He can’t look Jeonghan in the face. If he was honest, his chat with him yesterday scared the crap out of him at the thought of your brother’s wrath. “It isn’t much, really…”
“What is it?”
“Ji-ah has had a family emergency come up.” He gestures to her suitcase by their tent. “I just wanted to ask if it was okay if we could pass by the train station on the way to the beach today? I can cover for fuel and-”
“Oh!” Jeonghan lets out an airy laugh. “Is that all?” Jihoon’s shocked at the change in his tone. “I thought you were going to tell me that you were going to do something stupid like ask me how to woo your soulmate.”
Jihoon gasps audibly as he quickly turns to look around to see if anybody overheard Jeonghan’s words.
“It’s fine, Jihoon-ssi.” He smiles. “Half of the guys are planning to go shopping in the city while we go to the beach anyway. No sweat.”
He releases a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. “Oh.. thank you, hyung.” He nods slowly. As he turns away, he jumps slightly at the feeling of Jeonghan’s hand grabbing his wrist.
“It’s no problem.” His voice is suddenly icy. “But, for future reference, don’t think about asking me about how to win Ladybug’s heart unless you’re 100% serious, you hear me?” A small jolt of fear runs through him as he nods worriedly. And just as quick as he came, Jeonghan’s expression changes back to his happy demeanor. “Perfect! We are on the same page then! Good talk.” He claps him on the back before making his way to the food. “Now have some breakfast before it gets cold.”
The others are uncharacteristically quiet as they all climb onto the bus for the quiet ride into the city due to the copious amount of alcohol consumption from the night before. Seungcheol is amused at the sight of a hungover you climbing onto the bus and planting yourself down on a seat.
You pull a pair of sunglasses over your eyes, leaning your head on the headrest as you immediately attempt to curl up and get comfy. Seokmin sits beside you, smiling at you as you grab his hand, placing it directly on top of your head with an intelligible mumble. Seokmin seems to understand, though, as he carefully pulls what hair he can back, starting to braid it delicately and neatly as Seungkwan chuckles with Mingyu at how adorably clingy you can be when you aren’t worrying so much.
Jihoon is unfortunately in the seats directly behind you both with Ji-ah, a small frown on his face as he tries to not stare at you and your hair. He’s so close he can hear you almost purring with content as you start to drift off once more, his stomach twisting in pain as Jeonghan starts the bus to take off.
“Thank you again for keeping her company, last night, Jisoo.” Jihoon can hear Seungcheol murmur to his friend, who is sitting beside Soonyoung.
“Oh, it’s nothing.” He chirps happily, the alcohol’s after effects clearly not bothering him. “I’ve missed my little Goober.” Jihoon scoffs quietly, glancing out the window to try and ignore the conversation but feels his blood run cold for a moment as Jisoo’s voice grows softer.
“Besides, she needed that last night - to be carefree and have someone be there for her the way someone who loves her can, even if it was just for a night.” Everyone understands what Jisoo is implying, including Jihoon as he spots your brother’s soulmate stare at him for a moment through the rear view mirror. He winces, glancing away from the intense gaze, opting to stare at the scenery that is his first home town for the remainder of the short drive.
“Thank you again for dropping me off here, Jeonghan-Oppa.” Ji-ah smiles politely as she stands by the door of the bus. “You could have dropped me with the others at the mall, I would’ve found my way here.”
“Don’t be silly,” Jeonghan smiles at her, having got out of the bus to stretch his legs for a moment. “It’s no trouble at all. I would have rather known you made it here safely and in one piece. I hope your emergency is able to get sorted out quickly.” He gently pats her arm as she smiles sweetly at him.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to walk you in?” Jihoon asks her quietly, and she shakes her head with a smile.
“I’m keeping you guys enough as it is. Go enjoy the beach, kay?” She smiles. Jihoon nods with a little smile.
“Alright then. Message me when you get back home?” He leans in to peck her lips, only to be surprised when instead of her lips, his own meets her cheek.
“Will do, Hoon. Bye!” Ji-ah is quick to grab her suitcase, dashing towards the entrance to the station, leaving Jihoon dumbfounded at the foot of the bus.
Did she just dodge his kiss?
“Jihoon-ah.” Jeonghan’s voice calls to him. If he noticed anything unusual, he doesn’t comment. “You coming?”
Jihoon blinks out of his daze, nodding quickly before climbing back up into the bus and back into his seat.
Jihoon has always loved the beach. Even though he was, as Soonyoung would call it, a certified hermit, as a child he would always find himself spending his weekends at the beach with his parents if the weather called for it. He takes in a deep breath as he tastes the familiar salty air, a small smile of content on his face as he watches the waves lull lazily against the shore.
Only a small number of the group decided to join Seungcheol and Jeonghan at the beach, including himself, Seokmin, Soonyoung, Wonwoo, Mingyu, Seungkwan, Hansol, Jisoo and yourself. He was more than happy with anyone who decided to join them, with the plan being the whole group meet up for dinner at a hotpot restaurant to celebrate Seungcheol’s actual birthday before taking the party back to the campsite for drinks and games.
Seungcheol, Soonyoung and Mingyu are already in the water as Jihoon sits down on his beach chair under a large communal beach umbrella where he and the others have set up for the day. He watches as Seokmin sits with Seungkwan and Hansol, happily making plans for a large, elaborate sandcastle while Wonwoo and Jisoo sit quietly on their towels, having a quiet discussion together. He glances down at his phone to see if Ji-ah has texted him yet, and sighs quietly when he sees no notifications.
“Are you seriously not thinking about getting into the water today, Ladybug?” Jeonghan’s hums in the distance, drawing closer to Jihoon and their things. “I think the cool water would make your hangover better, wouldn’t it?”
“Nope.” Your voice is dull and monotone, mirroring the way you feel. “There are sharks in that water, I refuse.”
“Sharks wouldn’t come up to where the water meets your hips, pabo.”
“I refuse to take that chance.” You wave him off, Jihoon hearing your voices getting closer. “I like swimming in bodies of water that are condensed and clear enough so I know what I’m getting into.”
“Then why are you wearing the bikini if you don’t plan on getting in?” Jeonghan retorts. Jihoon gulps.
“Because I need the tan.” You bark back, Jeonghan simply chuckling as he tickles your sides, causing you (and Jihoon) to jolt and yelp.
Jihoon knows he shouldn’t. He really shouldn’t.
Against his better judgement, he turns his head towards where your voice is coming from, choking on his own spit as he sees you; hair braided and sunglasses covering your eyes. You’re wearing a pastel blue and white striped bikini, the little galaxies of your collarbone on full display as you make your way to a beach chair near where Wonwoo is situated.
Jihoon is so fucked.

“Jihoon-ah?” An unknown voice filled Jihoon’s ears as he held the phone to his ear.
“Hyung,” his soft voice croaked.
“You’re calling fairly early. It’s not even 2pm yet. How was your date?”
Jihoon was holding a single rose in his hand, taking long strides towards the train station with a defeated look on his face as he let his legs take him to where he needed to go. To say he was disappointed was an understatement. No, he was crushed, if he was completely honest. But he wouldn’t let Seungcheol know that.
Said date was supposed to start at 12pm sharp. He didn’t know what he did wrong to make her stand him up. He did everything correct, he believed. She had given him her number, he was never disrespectful in their texts, and he was a complete gentleman to her. Her texts from the night before lead him to believe she was eager to see him again too. After a simple suggestion by her for a coffee date to get to know each other, Jihoon was disappointed as he sat and waited in the booth for over an hour before deciding to give up with slumped shoulders and a bruised ego. To top it all off, Jihoon had to get caught in a fucking heavy downpour of rain without and umbrella as he made his next move.
What a fucking day.
“I’ll be there in a few hours. I’ll text you.” Jihoon sighed quietly as he placed his phone back into his pocket, stepping onto the train, oblivious to the state that he’s in.
With a frown, he paced past each cart, frown only deepening when he sees almost every one full. Of course it’s his luck that on the one stormy day that he gets rejected and drenched with rain, he’d end up on the full train with standing room left.
Finally, with a grateful sigh, he sees the last cart has only one occupant, chewing his lip as he stepped inside, opening the door a fraction to see you alone.
Your head stays down, long curls curtailing your face from Jihoon, not noticing his presence as your pencil moves carelessly along your sheet of paper.
“Excuse me,” his voice is soft and timid as he steps into the cart. “May I?” He gestures to the empty double seat across from you. “Everywhere else is full.”
Jihoon is shocked as your head lifts, adjusting your glasses as a small gasp falls from your pink lips. It was only then Jihoon realized his appearance. His grey T-shirt was now sticking to him, leather jacket just as tight as his drenched hair flops hazardously over his eyes. He almost flinches as you jump up quickly, discarding your fluffy wool sweater and taking a hold of his wrists, gently placing him down in your seat and sitting your coat on his knee. Wordlessly, he watches as you grab a small pink backpack from the ground, opening it up and pulling out a soft while towel and passing it to him with a sweet smile as he just stares in confusion.
“You’re the first person I can use my emergency backpack on, congratulations.” You smiled softly as he just stares. “Umbrella, spare towels, bandages, even a packed lunch, everything you could think of in an emergency.”
Jihoon was in awe. You were the first person today who had lent a kind hand to him, and he could feel the overwhelming emotions bubble in his chest.
“Please, put that sweater on,” you insisted quietly. “You’ll catch pneumonia otherwise.”
“Oh god, I’m in your seat…” Jihoon stuttered quietly as he began to rise.
“It’s directly under the heating. You need to dry.” You waved your hand dismissively, a grin washing over your features. “Please, use whatever you need.” You placed the backpack by his feet, Jimin chewing on his lip.
Come on, Jihoon, he thought to himself as he slipped the jacket off his shoulders, only to be filled with the warmth of your sweater seconds later, you can’t let your emotions get the best of you. Especially in front of a cute girl. He was shocked at his own thoughts, having been rejected mere minutes ago by another girl.
Jihoon softly started to pat down his damp hair with the towel, giving you a small but grateful smile in the process. You simply smile back, curling up on the seats opposite him and fiddling with the pencil in your hand. Jihoon couldn’t help but take in your appearance as you distracted yourself with your book. Thick rimmed glasses framed your round face perfectly, your light eyes scanning over your book. Your long hair, now having curled from the rain, sat against your shoulders as your foot bounced to an unknown beat, a soft hum complimenting the silence through your lips quietly. You were now only wearing a plain white shirt with a black skirt with pastel pink hearts adorning the fabric, complimenting your whole look with your pastel pink converse. Jihoon felt his cheeks flush when he noticed the small rose tattooed ever so delicately against the crook of where your inner arm meets your elbow, feeling himself shift in his seat as he looks at the drenched and wilted rose on the empty seat beside him, only reminding him of his shitty day he had experienced.
“Hmm.. fate?” Your voice breaks the silence as Jihoon’s dark eyes met yours in confusion. You gestured to the rose beside him and the one embedded in your arm, a small smile forming on your lips. “The rose. Maybe it’s fate we met.” You joked with a soft giggle as he gave you a quiet smile. “Sorry,” You whispered after a beat. “You seem like you’ve had a rough day..” you trailed off.
“Oh, no,” Jihoon interrupted quickly, neatly folding the towel and placing it on the seat beside him. “It’s actually helping, joking around.” He smiled a bit brighter now. “Thank you, again.. for the,” he gestured to the backpack, “emergency things.” He let the warmth of your sweater take over him, finally settling into his seat. “It’s nice to see someone worried about others. It’s refreshing.”
“That’s what I aim for!” Your bright grin lights up the whole room, Jihoon’s soul included as he can’t help but chuckle to himself. People like you were hard to come by, he thought to himself. Not many girls are so sweet and caring to others. You seemed the type to be so trusting and welcoming to others. “You don’t mind if I hum, do you? I tend to sing or hum while I work..” your cheeks start to turn a soft shade of pink. “I can stay quiet if you’d like to be alone with your thoughts.”
“No,” Jihoon smiled as he let his head rest on the window. “That’s fine, I think it’d make me feel a bit better, if you don’t mind, of course.” He chuckled at your relieved smile adorning your face, nodding softly as you turned to a fresh page of your book, your eyes sharp as you began to work.
“So, what brings you on this serendipitous ride to Busan, good sir?” You hum, not lifting your head as you scribble on your page. “Sorry, I should’ve asked for your name.”
“Jihoon.” He responds quietly, letting the warmth run through his body as it heats him up. “Ah.. decided to travel back home and see a friend of mine who lives there.”
“That’s always exciting, though.” You smile. “It’s always good to catch up with friends.”
Jihoon sighs for a moment. You’re so optimistic. He wishes he was feeling as optimistic as you were after his failed date.
“Yeah, that is true.” He agrees, his eyes fluttering shut. He feels a little guilty, letting sleep take over him so quickly. He feels like he should make more conversation with the kind stranger, but you don’t seem to mind, going back to humming and drawing as he falls into a dreamless sleep.
When Jihoon stirs and opens his eyes, he’s surprised to hear the voice of the conductor over the speaker announce that they have pulled into Busan Station. He quickly begins to rise from his seat before frowning in confusion.
There’s a heavy weight against him. He looks down to see a small blanket draped on him, probably from the emergency backpack you had given him. At the thought of you, he turns to look at the now empty seat across from him where you once sat.
He is a bit disappointed, he wanted to at least know your name to thank you for your small act of kindness. He frowns as he sees a single folded piece of paper and a now dried out rose sitting on top. Jihoon reaches out to take the rose, recognizing it as the rose he had on him as he boarded the train. He turns it over in his fingers for a moment before unfolding the piece of paper. His eyes widen as he sees a roughly scribbled sketch of himself leaning against the window of the train, watching the scenery go by. It is near perfect, in his opinion, and he is in awe by your skill. Looking down in the bottom right hand corner, Jihoon sees a small note.
Jihoon,
I hope your day gets better. Keep the backpack, please.
Sorry if this was insanely creepy. :)
Y/N.
He raises his eyebrows at your neat handwriting, his fingertips tracing over your name quietly with a little smile before quickly stuffing the blanket and your sweater into the backpack still by his feet to get off the train at the sounding of the last calls resounding over the speaker.
“Hey.” Seungcheol smiled as he spots his friend making his way towards him. “How was the trip?”
“Ah, was fine.” Jihoon hums, holding the small pink backpack over his shoulder as his friend’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“Why did you bring a pink bag with you?”
“Oh.” He laughs, awkwardly tucking his hair behind his ear. “‘S a long story.”
“Ohhhkay.” Seungcheol looks confused but shrugs when he sees the contentment on Jihoon’s face.
“Are we ready to go?”
“Almost.” Seungcheol keeps looking around at the countless people walking around the meeting area. “My cousin is here somewhere too. We gotta pick her up and take her back to mine. Is that alright?”
“Sure.” He agrees quickly. “I technically hijacked your weekend anyway.”
“Oppa!” A happy voice calls out as Seungcheol chuckles, opening out his arms as he readies himself.
“Hey, you!” He calls, laughing as he scoops his cousin into his arms, Jihoon staring with wide eyes.
“Jihoon-ah,” Seungcheol grins as he places his cousin on the ground. “This is-”
“Y/N.”

Jihoon yawns. He’s surprised at how calm the bus trip has been so far. They’re approaching hour two and so far there has only been a couple rounds of I Spy and Rock Paper Scissors that have passed down the rows, with some of the group opting to sleep for the beginning of the journey as best as they can. Ji-ah is one of those said few, her head nestled tiredly on her Not-Soulmate’s shoulder, guilt bubbling inside Jihoon’s stomach. He doesn’t have a reason to feel guilty, of course. You and him were never a thing and never have been, but he can’t shake the feeling of hurting you by flaunting the reason for your heartbreak right in front of your face.
He’s watched you for most of the drive, out of Ji-ah’s sight as she rests. You’re listening in on a conversation Soonyoung and Seokmin are having, your free hand stretched over and stroking the fur of the little white fluff ball on the seat beside you. Kkuma is happily chewing on her bone with a yellow sunflower clip holding a small tuft of her fur away from her eyes that matches your dress. You have a small unreadable smile on your face and Jihoon can’t get a read on if you’re upset or just tired. Your emotions have been sturdy almost constantly as of late, and your soulmate worries if everything is getting bottled up or if you’ve truly lost hope.
Your brother stays by his soulmate’s side as he drives, smiling and speaking to each other in hushed tones. Seungcheol’s hand rests on Jeonghan’s leg, rubbing delicate circles against his thigh absentmindedly as they talk and Jihoon can’t help but be endeared to such a simple but romantic gesture between soulmates.
“I’m just saying,” Soonyoung’s voice carries through the bus. “You have two butts. Not one.”
“And I’m just saying, you’re wrong.” Seokmin rebuts. “You don’t have two. It’s only one.”
“Stand up right now and hold your left butt in one hand and right butt in the other. TWO. TWO BUTTS.”
“Incorrect!” He barks back. “You have two butt cheeks! You have one butt hole.”
“You’re a butt hole!”
“Dear god.” You groan, leaning your head back as Seungkwan, seated directly behind you, laughs. “How much longer?”
“Y/N~,” Soonyoung sings sweetly as he peers over the back of his seat.
“Do not drag me into this, Kwon.” You shoot him a playful glare. “Last time I joined in a soulmates argument between you both, you didn’t talk to me for a week.”
“You’re still not over that?” He gasps, hand on his chest. “That was like, nearly two years ago.”
“Yeah, but you made her cry after two days of your silent treatment.” Seungcheol turns around to shoot Soonyoung a not-so-playful glare. “Watch it.”
“Oh come on,” he whined playfully, paying Seungcheol no mind as he reaches over to take your hand in his. You wince as your cheeks immediately flush, trying to ignore the feeling of longing building up inside you. “That was when I was young and stupid.” He pouts, batting his eyelashes at you as his thumbs stroke your hand.
Jihoon’s eyes focus on the delicate way Soonyoung is holding your hand and frowns. An unknown feeling settles uncomfortably in the pit of his stomach, but he refuses to acknowledge what the feeling actually could mean.
“Yah, leave her be, babe!” Seokmin swats his arm. “She is trying to sleep, and she knows the right answer is one butt - she isn’t answering because she doesn’t want to hurt your feelings.”
“That isn’t true!” Soonyoung insists, turning to you after you don’t answer him. “Is it?”
“What would you do if I say yes?” You ask, raising your eyebrow.
“I…” he pauses as he turns his head slowly, meeting the steady glare of your brother staring into his soul. He pauses for a moment before turning back to you. “I would very humbly respect your opinion and thank you for being honest with your closest, longest friend.”
Just for good measure, he leans down and presses a kiss to the top of your hand. He smiles when you let out a giggle, nodding slightly and turning back to see a nod of approval from your brother. Jihoon admires how protective Seungcheol can be over you. If he had siblings, he’d do the same thing.
“Now, will you let the girl sleep? Look at her, she’s been drifting off for the last ten minutes.” Seokmin scolds Soonyoung who concedes with a sigh, your giggles filling the bus.
Jihoon feels his tummy explode with butterflies at the sound of your laugh, the only outer thing indicating him having a reaction at all being the tips of his ears turning red.
“Get some rest, Ladybug.” Jeonghan calls out as you settle down comfortably in your seat, eyes beginning to flutter. “There’s a surprise waiting at the campsite, you’ll need your energy.”
“Mhm~.” You hum sweetly as you already feel yourself beginning to drift off, your head gently lulling to the side.
Your soulmate observes you as your arms gently wrap around yourself, curling up as comfortably as you can with the limited space you have. It only takes a few minutes for your breaths to even out, sleep taking over you. Seokmin reaches over and places a fluffy blanket that was draped over him and Soonyoung now onto you, a fond smile growing on both of their faces as you immediately snuggle into the soft material to seek out the warmth enveloping you. Jihoon is even sure he hears Soonyoung mutter a soft ‘cute’ under his breath, which sets off the new uncomfortable feeling inside him again, but just like before, he chooses to ignore it.
“They really care about her, don’t they?” Minghao whispers to Junhui, who simply nods with a smile as Jihoon watches your two closest friends taking Seungcheol’s phone to quickly take a quick photo of you sleeping soundly.
The remaining two hours of the drive were pretty uneventful in Jihoon’s eyes, maybe because he kept an eye on you resting out of the corner of his eye. He observes Seokmin reaching over to carefully take your glasses off the bridge of your nose and place them on his lap. The bus stayed hushed minus the few small conversations between soulmates. Jihoon tried not to listen out of respect for their privacy, but he couldn’t help but pick up excited whispers from Jeonghan to Seungcheol about how both he and you will love the surprise that is planned. He wouldn’t lie, he was intrigued.
As the bus pulls up on a small campground next to a large, scenic forest, Jihoon can’t help but be in awe at the view of endless trees and greenery in front of them. He tilts his head at the sight of a car already pulled up at their campsite, to which Jeonghan doesn’t seem phased about. Ji-ah yawns beside him, having been awake for roughly half an hour before the bus finally came to a stop, staying sleepily perched against her boyfriend’s shoulder and watching the scenery out the window.
Jihoon glances at you, watching as Soonyoung stands and makes his way around to where you’re sleeping, crouching and slipping the blanket off you. You immediately shiver, scrunching up your nose in discomfort before letting your eyes flutter open with a tired whine that he and the others can’t help but find adorable.
“Soonie…” you frown, sitting up and rubbing your eye with a closed fist.
“We’re here, Bug.” He smiles, taking your hand and helping you up. “Jeonghannie Hyungie wants you and Cheollie Hyungie to get off first. Come on.”
You grumble sleepily, fixing your dress with a yawn before making your way to the front of the bus with Jeonghan and Seungcheol.
“You ready for your surprise?” Jeonghan smiles brightly at you both as you nod in unison.
“Should I be scared?” Seungcheol laughs.
“I don’t think so.”
“You have that smirk on your face, Oppa.”
“What smirk?” Jeonghan tries to make his face neutral.
“The smirk you pull whenever you plan to cheat when we play board games.” You squint, trying to see through him. “I swear if you plan to leave us here for dead…”
Your comment garners some giggles and laughs from the others and a smile from your soulmate.
“Oh hush!” He laughs, reaching down and tickling your side, making you flinch with a grin. “Just step outside and look.”
“Fine, fine.” Seungcheol chuckles, turning around and opening the doors to the bus.
Your brother is the first one to step off the bus and you follow close behind him, glancing from left to right curiously.
“Wow, this place is stunning.” You grin as you take in a deep breath, letting the air of nature fill your lungs as the others all trail out of the bus, looking around at the campsite with approval.
Jihoon stands by Mingyu’s side with Ji-ah towards the front of the ground, directly behind you and Seungcheol as Wonwoo starts calculating where to place tents and where to set up the campfire.
“Woah!” A new voice cuts into the group, startling everyone. “You’re blonde!”
Everyone turns to the newcomer standing by the car at the other end of the site. He stands tall with long light brown hair, his smile bright. He almost looks like a picture perched up against his car, looking at you and your brother expectantly.
“What the fuck?” Seungcheol whispers, eyes wide as he stands dumbfoundedly glued to his spot. “Is that really you?”
“I sure hope so.” The stranger smiles back, opening up his arms wide.
“WHAT THE FUCK?!” Your squeal echoes through the forest as you break into a sprint. “JISOO-OPPA!”
“Language!” Your brother yells, reaching out to swat you, only to be a second too late as you ran.
“Woah there!” Jisoo laughs, bracing himself. “Who is this stunning young lady, and what happened to my little Goober?!”
“Oppa!” You’re sobbing now as you leap into his arms. You immediately bury your face into his shoulder as your cries muffle into the fabric of his shirt. Jisoo simply smiles, his hand reaching up to cradle the back of your head, his other arm wrapped around your waist gently.
Jihoon looks to your family. Soonyoung has a large grin on his face as Seokmin is wiping at his eyes, letting out small sniffles here and there. Seungcheol is still glued to his spot before he looks to his soulmate.
“How did you find him? It’s been years.”
“You would be surprised at how easy it is to find someone these days using modern technology, my love.” He smiles, kissing his cheek sweetly.
“I love you so much.” Seungcheol smiles, pulling his soulmate in for a sweet kiss that makes the others coo at the sight.
“Hyung?” Seungkwan asks no one in particular. “Sorry, but who is that?”
“Jisoo, or Joshua, is Cheol-hyung’s childhood friend.” Soonyoung turns to the younger man. “When their mother passed and had to move in with us, they didn’t get the chance to keep in contact. Y/N tried to look for years for Jisoo for Cheol-hyung. I can’t believe Jeonghannie-hyung found him.”
Jisoo keeps his grip tight on you, his own tears glistening delicately in his eyes as he finally glances at his childhood best friend. He opens his arm out, which triggers Seungcheol to finally rush forward, trapping you between both men in a tight hug. Your sobs have grown quieter now as you squeeze him tight, your soulmate doing the best he can to keep his own emotions intact as yours threaten to overtake his own.
It’s weird, Jihoon thinks. It's weird feeling you cry from a positive emotion rather than a negative one. He thinks he could get used to that feeling.
“What are you doing here?” Your voice is small and almost shy as you lift your head from Jisoo’s shoulder. He lets out a laugh at the sight of your blotchy cheeks and now puffy red eyes, reaching out and wiping the leftover tears.
“A few weeks ago I got contacted by Jeonghan to ask if I remember two siblings who I grew up with and if I wanted to help him surprise you both.” He smiles down at you, still keeping his arm around your waist.
“It was you?” You turn to Jeonghan, who just smirks proudly. You rush forward to him, wrapping your arms tightly around his middle. “Thank you, Oppa.”
“I know how hard you looked for him, Ladybug.” He pats your head sweetly. “Now go and catch up. We will get everything set up here.”
“Are you sure, babe?” Cheol bites his lip.
“It’s your birthday, darling. It’s fine.” He insists, smiling as he pushes you towards your brother and his friend. You give him one last smile before happily running and tucking yourself under Jisoo’s waiting arm, hugging his waist as he leads you both to a picnic table under one of the many trees.
“Wow, Hyung,” Mingyu smiles. “You’re amazing for finding him for them.”
“Nah,” Jeonghan smiles as he watches the three of you talk, Jihoon keeping his eyes on you as you talk animatedly to Jisoo. “I just love them. You would do the same thing for the ones you love, wouldn’t you?” He glances to Mingyu with a small smile of adoration. It makes Jihoon think. “Now, let’s go grab these tents and set up.”
The sun has just passed the highest peak in the sky when Jeonghan and the others have finished setting up all the sleeping arrangements for everyone, tents scattered about in the secluded camping space. Soonyoung and Seokmin have surprised everyone and brought a large blow up pool that can fit up to five people inside filled with the fluffiest pillows and blankets, planning to camp under the stars with you joining them too. Jeonghan was prepared to scold the couple for their outrageous choice of camping style and even dragging you into their shenanigans, but when he found out it was your idea he begrudgingly accepted, muttering something along the lines of the little trio of misfits being crazy.
Everyone is sitting around where the campfire will be held later in the evening, Mingyu and Junhui cooking lunch on the built-in barbecue at the site while the others relaxed. You and your brother are still close by at the picnic table with Jisoo, the conversation still not having died down since it has begun. Jihoon is sitting closest to the table with Ji-ah by his side in their camping chairs with Mingyu and Wonwoo perched on the other side, keeping the table within the circle of conversation.
You have been overcome with happiness ever since you’ve arrived and Jihoon is content. He doesn’t get many happy feelings from you, and he chooses to relish in it and enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling inside him as he hears you speak with excitement and enthusiasm.
“I still can’t believe how much you’ve grown.” Jisoo smiles, patting your head delicately.
“Well it has been nearly ten years since we’ve last seen each other.” You laugh, shrugging.
“You’re just gorgeous, I can’t believe my little Goober is all grown up!” He wails, throwing his arms around you as your loud laugh hits everyone’s ears. It’s almost a blend of Soonyoung and Seungcheol’s signature laughs that are both equally contagious.
Okay, yeah. Jihoon could get used to that.
“Yep! And I even have tattoos now, Oppa.” You smirk proudly, showing him the little Lovebug on your wrist. “I’m practically a rebel.”
“My little Y/N? A rebel? I simply won’t believe it.” He smiles. “All I remember is the sweet little girl who I used to patch up whenever she fell off her bike while her brother went to go get Eomoni, and would only smile afterwards if we sang our Eodonggie song.”
“Oh dear god.” You whine, slinking down in an attempt to hide, wincing at a nearby voice.
“Eodonggie song, you say?” Jeonghan has made his way to sit next to his soulmate, his mischievous grin returning. “I do say, Shua, please elaborate.”
“Please do not elaborate, Oppa.” You’re desperate now. “Please, I have a reputation to uphold.”
“What reputation?” Soonyoung calls out. “Just last week you and Seokmin made a skit for Theatre about a hungry villain who could only be calmed down by a hero who fed him rice.”
“Shush, you!” You point aggressively at your best friend, making Seungkwan and Hansol laugh.
“That was you?!” Minghao chimes in. “I heard from Haechan that you both really made fools of yourselves.”
“Anything for the ‘gram.” Seokmin slips on a pair of sunglasses, leaning back in his chair.
“But you didn’t even film it, Hyung…” Chan mumbles, the joke going directly over his head.
“I can’t stand you.” You deadpan to Seokmin, who only shrugs.
“It’s a good thing you’re sitting, babe.” Seokmin retorts, only making Wonwoo and the others start giggling when you mouth what Seokmin says as he says it. “Yah you little..” he hisses playfully as you smirk. Jihoon smiles a little.
“There is a reason why these three get along a little too well,” Seungcheol laughs. “They’re all practically the same person.”
“We’re getting off track here,” Jeonghan nudges his soulmate again. “Eodonggie?”
“Ah!” Jisoo smiles. “Y/N used to have this little toy when we were little. It was a yellow bunny that wore a cute little outfit with green pants and a blue plaid shirt. He was pretty ugly, to be honest.”
“Hey!” You smack his arm. “Don’t be mean about my boy!”
“I’m sorry, Goob.” He grins down at you. “The main striking point of this bunny was his cheeks. They were big and round and Y/N used to think it looked like a bum. So, Cheol and I named him Eodonggie and created a little song and made him dance. Whenever she was sad, we would make Eodonggie dance. Would work like a charm every time.”
“That is so sweet!” Ji-ah coos, smiling sweetly as you nod your head enthusiastically at her.
“When we moved in with Soonyoungie’s family, we lost him.” Seungcheol frowns. “Y/N was crushed.”
“Yah, I was not.” You jutt your bottom lip out, cheeks heating up. “I was eleven by then, I had better coping skills by then.”
“Sure you did, Bug.” Your brother smiles, but you keep pouting.
“Oh,” Jisoo looks disappointed. “Did you want me to keep this then, if you’ve grown out of it?”
He pulls the small plush toy from his bag. It looked tatted and worn, but the bum on his face was noticeable.
“EODONGGIE?!” Your eyes widened as you looked up at the man. “Y-you found him?!”
“It was the last thing I had of you both, I couldn’t just throw him away. But if you don’t want-”
Before he can finish his sentence, you’re making grabby hands at the toy, the others laughing heartily as he places it in your hands. You excitedly hug the toy to your chest, cheek resting lovingly on the top of his yellow head. Seungkwan coos sweetly with Mingyu as they watch on with the others.
Jihoon keeps his eyes on you as he watches how delicately and lovingly you hold the little bunny, holding it in front of you as you examine it closely.
“You gave him brain surgery.” Your voice is soft as your finger runs over the top of his head which sported a different coloured thread haphazardly stitched in to keep the fabric intact.
“I had to.” Jisoo nudges your side. “Had to make sure that his brain was full of his memories of you.”
“Oh dear god you’re so corny.” You let out a watery laugh, hugging his side. “Thank you, Oppa. Really.”
“You’re welcome, Goober.” He ruffles your hair with an adoring smile as you quickly climb off the bench, turning around and running towards your two best friends to show them the toy. A few of the others come up to you as you start explaining Eodonggie’s, as you call it, origin story to them. Jihoon stays back with Wonwoo, Junhui and Minghao as you explain to the quote unquote ‘maknae’s’ of the group. He glances over to where your brother still sits with his soulmate and childhood best friend, watching you surrounded by your friends.
“She really has grown up so well.” Jisoo’s voice is quiet.
“She has.” Jeonghan agrees.
“Why am I emotional?” Jisoo laughs.
“Don’t worry, I get that way sometimes too.” Seungcheol is smiling.
“I’m so proud of her. She’s been through way too much.”
“She is incredible.” Seungcheol agrees as they watch you, not knowing that your soulmate was watching too.
He watches your smile the most as you make the toy dance, seemingly recreating the famous Eodonggie dance that Jisoo and Seungcheol made for you. There’s a small smile growing on his face, your happiness literally contagious as it runs through him. Jeonghan watches Jihoon curiously, a focussed frown on his face.
“Are we there yet?” Seokmin whines, leaning against your back as you walk steadily uphill, following your brother and your friends.
“If you were going to complain the whole time, I would’ve made you stay back at the campsite and have the tea ceremony with Minghao, Junhui and Ji-ah.” You grumble, pushing the sweaty man off you.
The sun is beginning to set in the sky, the bright blue of the sky darkening ever-so slightly as you and a few select friends who decided to join you hike up to the top of the nearby mountain to watch it set. You were near the back of the group, holding the leash of Kkuma as she happily climbed up the mountain with you. Jihoon stays at the back with Wonwoo, both men keeping an eye on everyone and making sure nobody gets left behind.
“But I have severe FOMO.” Seokmin drawls.
“FOMO?” Jisoo turns his head to look back at you.
“Fear Of Missing Out.” Seungcheol and Jeonghan sigh at the same time.
“He learnt this word last week and won’t stop bringing it up.” Seungkwan groans, rubbing at his temple.
“You’re just not cool and swaggy like me.” He sticks his tongue out at the younger boy.
“You can stop complaining, babe!” Soonyoung yells from the front of the group, happily jumping from side to side. “We made it!”
Jihoon is the last one to make it to the top, standing at the back of the viewing deck at the top of the mountain, watching you as your eyes wide and sparkling as you take in the breathtaking view.
For as far as the eye can see, the eternal sky doesn’t have a single cloud littering the view. Leading down from the observation deck is a sea of green, the trees from the forest making the sky pop. In the far distance, you can see a cable car leading down into the large city of Busan, and Jihoon smiles as he sees his home town.
“Wow.” You breathe out, staring at the sky as the colours begin to change right in front of your eyes.
“This is incredible!” Chan yells happily, taking out his phone to snap photos with the others.
The other men are taking photos of each other, some making silly poses for their camera rolls, others taking cute couple photos with cheek kisses and hugs galore. Jihoon simply stands to the side, looking at the orangey pink sky with a smile before he spots you moving.
You make your way over to your brother, hugging around his middle as you both look out to the setting sun, head leaning against his shoulder. Jisoo and Jeonghan stand behind you both, giving you the space you need. Jeonghan pulls out your Polaroid camera, snapping a quick photo of you and your brother embracing in front of the sunset, a smile content on his face.
“Hi, Eomma.” Your voice is barely above a whisper, but Jihoon winces as he hears it clear as day.
“She looks good tonight, doesn’t she?” Seungcheol rubs your shoulder as he glances down at you with a gentle smile.
“She’s only putting it on for you, Oppa.” You bump your hip against his. “You were always the golden child, of course she’d show off when you were looking.”
“Yah!” He barks as you laugh heartily, raising both of your hands in defense.
“I’m kidding, I’m kidding!” You giggle as Soonyoung and Seokmin make their way over to you.
“Wonwoo-yah,” Soonyoung smiles sweetly to him. “Could you pretty please take a quick family photo of us?”
“Mhm~.” Wonwoo hums, smiling as Jeonghan makes his way to your brother’s side. You scoop up Kkuma in your arms, holding her close as your best friend and his soulmate shuffle in close.
“Say kimchi!” Seungkwan shouts as you all smile, Wonwoo snapping the picture as Jisoo takes a photo from the Polaroid camera Jeonghan had passed to him.
“Beautiful!” Mingyu grins before placing his phone down on a rock. “Quick, everyone in for the next one!”
“What?” Jihoon’s eyes widen as his wrist gets grabbed by Seungkwan, dragging him into the group, Hansol doing the same to Wonwoo and Chan grabbing Jisoo.
“Smile!” Mingyu coos sweetly as you all pose.
Jihoon simply smiles and throws up a peace sign out of pure habit, being used to Soonyoung’s random photo shoots he used to make him do in middle school, cheeks bright red. Luckily for him, the focal point was not the people posing but the sunset behind them, and Jihoon felt relieved for that fact.
“You guys go on back down whenever you’re ready.” You speak quietly after fifteen minutes of watching the sky. “I want to stay here a bit longer and take a few more pictures.”
“We can stay here too, Bug.” Seungcheol insists, Soonyoung nodding aggressively beside him.
“Junhui would have dinner being made by now, Oppa,” you hum, looking up at him. “The hike is only nearly half an hour, I’ll be fine.”
“I’m not gonna leave my little sister up here on her own.”
“You go down, Cheollie.” Jisoo smiles, hand on his shoulder. “I can walk her back down. You go down and we’ll be down once the sun is nearly gone.”
“Are you sure?” He asks nervously.
“Positive. Don’t worry, she’ll be fine.” He pats him on the back.
“I’d like to stay up here for a bit too.” Wonwoo smiles. “Take a couple more photos and that. We’ll go back together.”
“I’ll stay too.” Jihoon speaks up, and he blushes when you look at him in surprise. He doesn’t look your way, though. “Home looks good from here. Want to look at it a bit more.”
“See?” Jisoo grins. “She has a whole protection squad to bring her back down. You guys go ahead and we’ll be back soon.”
After a beat of silence, he sighs. “Fine. But if you’re not back by dark, I’m calling a search party.”
“Okay, Dad.” You roll your eyes playfully as he kisses your forehead.
“See you soon.” He hugs you quickly before everyone turns and starts making their way down the mountain.
Once they’re out of sight, you sigh slightly and sit down on the park bench by the viewing deck, taking a few photos on your Polaroid camera as Jisoo sits beside you, Wonwoo and Jihoon standing a few meters away as they both lean on the rails.
“Penny for your thoughts, Goober?” Jihoon hears Jisoo speak. “You seem pretty glum over here.”
“I’m fine.” You frown slightly. “Everything is fine and perfect. I have you back, my brother is having a great birthday trip so far, my family and friends are happy. Why wouldn’t I be happy?” You don’t look up at him.
“Hmm..” he hums slowly. “That’s true, but you didn’t mention yourself in that sentence.”
“I’m all good.”
“If that’s true, then why do you look so broken?”
You pause. Jihoon feels the pain in your stomach begin to rise as you continue to speak to your long lost friend.
“I have no reason to be broken.” You insist, eyebrows furrowing. “I am living a good life. I have a job I love, friends and family who care about me, I can see colour…” your voice teeters off. “I’d be selfish if I was sad, Oppa.”
Jihoon can feel the tears brimming in his eyes at how quiet and tired you sound, teeth sinking into his bottom lip.
“Y/N…” Jisoo sighs. “You lost your parents in one fell swoop, you and your brother had to be raised by your best friend’s parents while your trash ass father left without a care in the world. And on top of that, Cheol told me that you found the one person who was made for you in this fucked up world and they didn’t want you back.” You wince, a tear rolling down your cheek. Jisoo reaches forward to gently wipe it away. “You have had way too much heartbreak for a girl your age. You’re allowed to be selfish for a little while.”
“I can’t.” You hiccup, shaking your head. “Not now, at least. Not when this weekend is all for Cheol.”
“I’m sure he wouldn’t be upset if you needed a bit more time to heal.” He reaches over and hugs you to his side, rubbing your back.
“Not right now.” You sniffle, quickly reaching up and wiping at your eyes. “Plus, my soulmate is happy. That’s all I care about, Oppa.”
“What about your happiness?” He frowns.
“They’re happy, I’m happy. That’s kinda Soulmate 101. I can feel what he’s feeling, remember?”
“If you’re sure…”
“I am. Trust me.”
You think you’re being quiet. And to your credit, you are. Jihoon is purposely straining his ears to be able to hear what you’re saying to Jisoo, and with every new thing you say, the more Jihoon knows that he doesn’t deserve you - as a soulmate or as a friend.
“Come on.” Jisoo takes a deep breath, rising from his spot. “It’s getting darker. We better go or else Cheol will have my head.”
“Yeah..” you sigh softly before grabbing your things. “Wonwoo-Oppa?” You call out, snapping Jihoon out of his thoughts as he and his housemate both look over to you. “Are you ready to go?”
“Yep, give me a minute.” He smiles at you, Jisoo taking your hand and leading you to the entry of the observation deck. Once you’re a safe distance away, Wonwoo turns to your soulmate. “You okay, Jihoon-ah?”
“Hm? Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?” He responds a little too quickly. Wonwoo just stares at his housemate for a moment before nodding.
“Okay. But if there’s something going on, you know you can tell me, right?”
“Yeah, I know.” He hums. “Let’s go, we better catch up.”
Before Wonwoo can answer, Jihoon rushes to catch up with you and Jisoo, Wonwoo sighing and following a beat behind.
“What made you so late?!” A strained voice bellows as you make your way back to the campsite. You pause in your steps, which makes the trio behind you stop as well.
“What the..” you mumble, stepping closer.
“You didn’t pay~” another strained voice responds.
“Oh no.” You groan, reaching up and covering your face.
“What is it?” Jisoo asks quietly, Wonwoo and Jihoon stifling giggles.
“It’s the chaotic duo.” Wonwoo smiles.
“Who?”
“You‘ll see.”
You all round the corner to see Seokmin and Soonyoung standing in front of the table, hunched over and squinting their eyes. The others are seated in a semi-circle around them, either keeping their heads down or burying their faces into their hands.
“Halmo, can I get some doenjjang-jiggae please!” Seokmin says to Soonyoung.
“They’re playing the Don’t Laugh game.” You shake your head as Jisoo stared blankly at the scene unfolding.
“Hey.. you should pay.”
“Excuse me halmo! Can I please get doenjjang-jiggae!”
“He’s crying.” Mingyu can barely breathe as he looks at Hansol, staring pointedly at the ground.
“Vernonnie???” Soonyoung struts over and bends all the way down to look directly at Hansol. “You should pay!”
Jihoon glances to you as he sees your shoulders shaking, small giggles leaving your lips as no one spots you just yet.
“HEY HALMO!” Seokmin makes his way over to Soonyoung.
Seungkwan is holding his breath as he watches the soulmates. “Someone is going to laugh here…”
“Watch this.” You mumble to Jisoo before turning around.
“Aigoo, grannies, please stop!” You muster your best old man voice as you make your way to your friends.
Almost immediately the whole group bursts out laughing, Seokmin and Seungkwan falling to the ground and Soonyoung throwing his head back with laughter.
Jihoon feels himself start to grin along with the others, feeling your giggles rise within him.
“You made it back safe, I see!” Seungcheol breaks the giggle fest, smiling as he hugs you.
“Yep, and in one piece, would you believe?” You raised your eyebrow with a smile.
“I wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t see it myself.” He ruffled your hair, making you whine and shove him. “Go and get a plate, Junhui’s just finished cooking.
“I will in a sec, I need to go to the bathrooms.”
“Y/N?” Jihoon’s girlfriend stood near you as you spoke. “Sorry… I don’t want to be a bother but can I come with you to the bathrooms?”
“Hm?” You turn to Ji-ah, Jihoon’s eyes wide as he watches you both speak. “Yeah, that’s fine.” You smile at her.
There’s no point being rude to her, you think. She didn’t do anything wrong. And you don’t think you could purposely be mean if you tried. Seungcheol says it’s one of your worst faults.
“Oh, thank you!” She smiles as she steps to you, and you offer to link arms with her. Your smile is soft and genuine, and Jihoon hates himself even more at your pure kindness. Ji-ah links her arm with yours as you walk together to the bathrooms.
“Go fix up a plate, guys.” Seungcheol smiles at Jihoon, Wonwoo and Jisoo. “There’s plenty to go around!” He pats Jisoo on the back as they walk to the table together, Jihoon watching his soulmate and his girlfriend walk away together.
“Thank you again for inviting me on this trip, Y/N,” Ji-ah smiles at you.
“Really, it’s no problem at all.” You smile back as you walk to the building a small distance away.
“Are you sure? I mean, your brother barely knows me and I feel bad sort of… hijacking?”
“Oh please,” you giggle. “It’s so fine. Oppa knows Jihoon-ssi through Soonie, snd by default, soulmates are invited.” The last part slips past your lips before your brain and comprehend what just came out of your mouth.
“Oh,” she laughs, tucking a stray hair behind her ear. “Hoon-ah isn’t actually my soulmate.”
You act surprised. “What?” You gasp. Thank god for your acting skills. “Really?”
“Yeah..” she laughs awkwardly. “I mean, he’s a great guy and all which is obviously why we are dating… but yeah.. I already have a soulmate. He moved away when I was still in middle school and haven’t seen him again since.”
“Oh…” you trail off slowly.
“Oh god.” Ji-ah’s eyes widen. “I-I’m so sorry!” She looks at you worriedly. “I didn’t want to bring up bad memories of your parents because I’m doing the same thing your fathe-”
“Oh, no,” you pat her arm. “Really, don’t stress.” You smile reassuringly. “I won’t judge. Honest.”
“And it’s not forever with Jihoon anyway,” she keeps babbling like word vomit. “We both made a pact that as soon as my soulmate comes back or if he finds his, we’d break this whole thing off!”
“Ji-ah,” you assure her. “It’s…” your brain catches up with her words and you feel the pit in your stomach begin to form. “A pact?”
Ji-ah’s words start running through your head as the realization sets in. Her words begin to drown out as you realize what she’s saying. They were never a forever thing. As soon as her soulmate found her again, or if Jihoon were to find his soulmate, they’d be with their person.
But Jihoon knew who his soulmate was. He knows who it was and he still chose to break the pact to keep Ji-ah.
Fuck. That stung.
You weren’t even good enough to have even after Jihoon went through his whole relationship with Ji-ah with the sole end game being to be with his soulmate.
You blink after your eyes focus once again to a frantic Ji-ah.
“Hey,” you take her arm. “It’s alright, really. You’re your own person that makes your own choices. I’m not going to treat you like crap just because it’s something my father did.” You force a smile now. Every word you spoke felt like your throat was being stabbed.
It hurt to lie.
“Are you sure?” She asks nervously and you nod with a little smile.
“Positive.”
Jihoon lifts his head from his lap as he spots you and Ji-ah walking back to the site. He had felt a sharp pain in his chest five minutes ago, and he hasn’t been able to sit still since. When he sees you and his girlfriend walking back towards them, he keeps a close eye on you. Your eyes stay focused on your feet as you march your way to your brother.
“I made you a plate, Bug!” Cheol smiles, patting the spot between him and Jisoo for you.
“Not hungry.” You mumble, your hair shielding your face as you reach for a bottle of soju in the middle of the table.
Jihoon watches your brother, his soulmate, and your best friend all look between each other with wide eyes. You twist the top of the bottle open, taking a swift swig of the alcoholic drink before leaning against your brother's side in silence.
He feels nothing. He hasn’t felt anything from you since the sharp pain in his chest moments ago, and now he’s worried. You refuse to make eye contact with anyone at the table around you, taking another sip of your soju as Jisoo’s hand rubs at your back absentmindedly, looking at Seungcheol for an explanation.
Jihoon rises from his seat as Ji-ah has stopped to talk to Mingyu about something, turning around and walking to a small clearing in the forest to clear his head. It almost feels clogged, riddled with hundreds of questions and endless scenarios playing all at once. He winces and rubs at his temples before jumping at the sound of a twig snapping behind him, not realizing he had been followed.
His eyes widen in surprise as he sees Jeonghan standing in front of him, a deep frown on his face and arms crossed. He is glaring at your soulmate with a scowl.
“It’s you, isn’t it?”

Today couldn’t have gotten any worse if it tried.
It all began from when you slept through your morning alarm, making you late for work and stepping in a puddle in your attempt to rush to make it on time. While in your rush, you were also blessed with an unwanted shower by a passing bus, the dirty rain water drenching your brand new white shirt. This was followed swiftly by a loud scalding from your manager in your office, leading you to sit silently at your desk, damp, dirty and on the brink of tears. It didn’t help your case when every mistake that could’ve been made by your team decided to be executed all today too, making your already large workload even larger from your incompetent coworkers.
Due to your tardiness, you were only able to drink a poorly made coffee from the coffee machine in the break room while you worked through your morning tea break to fix up the mess left behind by your coworkers and eat a now soggy sandwich through your lunch break. You think that is the end of your bad luck for the day, only for the bus to break down on your way home, causing you to walk the 20 minute walk him in the rain, seemingly giving up on turning the day around.
You heave a sigh of relief as you step into your apartment, wanting nothing more than to have a hot shower, change into a fresh pair of pyjamas and order a take-away pizza for an impromptu date night with your boyfriend. As you step into the bathroom and turn the shower on, you feel the tears fill your eyes once more as only cold water runs through your fingers. The stupid fuckers upstairs have clearly used all the hot water in the complex for the third time.
You feel stupid, crying over something so small. The water seemed to be the last straw for you as you let out a weak sob, turning the shower off before curling up on the bathroom floor.
Fuck today, you think. Fuck this stupid fucking day.
You let your sobs leave your body for what feels like hours, hugging your knees tightly to your chest.
You’re just so fucking tired. Why can’t you have anything good go for you today, just once?
Your cries turn into whimpers after a short while before your body jolts at the feeling of two strong arms hugging you from behind. Just as you’re about to fight back, your whole body relaxes as his voice whispers to you.
“Hey, you’re okay. I’ve got you.”
You sniffle and let out another weak cry, which only makes him coo and scoop you into his lap, tucking your head into his shoulder and wrapping his arms around your waist. His warmth seeps into your bones slowly like a cup of warm tea, and your cries begin to soften as his fingers run through your hair, rocking you ever so slightly.
“I’m sorry,” you hiccup, but he only just shushes you and presses his lips for your forehead. “No, don’t. I-I’m dirty.”
“Oh hush.” He scolds you playfully. “It’s just a little bit of rain. I won’t die.” He kisses your forehead once more, standing slowly and carrying you to the bedroom carefully.
You don’t even want to know what your face looks like right now, eyes puffy and cheeks blotchy, lips red from biting on them all day out of frustration. And to top it all off, your hair probably looks like a birds nest, all knotty and soaked from the rain.
“Come on, you.” He guides you to the end of the bed carefully, getting you out of your wet clothes and changing you into one of his large hoodies and a pair of your Pyjama pants. “There we go.” He’s praising you with every article of clothing he manages to change you into, which you follow almost robotically with no complaint.
“Today sucked.” You whimper as he leads you to the bed, making you lay under the covers.
“You don’t have to talk about it.” He urges, sliding under the blankets beside you.
“I’m just so tired.”
“I know, Jagiya.” He doesn’t wait for you, taking your arm and pulling you into his waiting hold, arms circling around your waist. “I know. You can rest for the day, I’m not going anywhere, Kay?”
You nod slowly as your head rests against his chest, letting your eyes flutter closed at the sound of his heartbeat in your ears.
“I love you.” You sniffle.
“I love you too, my love.” He coos, fingers running through your hair delicately.
You may have had the worst day, but you feel damn lucky that you have your amazing boyfriend to help you pick up your pieces.
