introducing my Impsona, Lumi…who ends up under the unfortunate hospitality of Rolando at the One Star Wonder 👀💖 backstory below!!

Lumi the Imp has always struggled to hold down a job, and has worked across the Rings in every role you can imagine. unfortunately they're not the brightest star in the sky, and are often taken advantage of because of their unusually trusting nature. eventually, Lumi ends up in the employ of a notoriously shady demon, whose dealings in the human world are considered unethical even by Hell's standards 😱

oblivious to the scheming of their boss, Lumi departs on an ill-fated trip to Earth which ends in the massacre of their fellow employees. the demon concocted an elaborate scam wherein he rigged a set of faulty goods being transported by the imps to explode, thereby killing the imps, and allowing him to collect the insurance money. however, Lumi (who had wandered away from the delivery truck) was the only survivor of the explosion, and they emerged lucky: with just a set of curious-shaped scars across their face 💔

trapped without a money, food, or a way back to Hell, Lumi turns their sights to the only place they recognise: a local run-down hotel known as the One Star Wonder. Lumi remembers delivering goods to this hotel before, and recalls the owner Rolando to be a generous (if creepy) human who was always willing to accommodate his guests. they have no idea of the true demon which lurks beneath the disguise 👀

tantalised by Lumi's seeming innocence and the slow boil of repressed trauma, Rolando offers Lumi safety and shelter at the hotel, on the condition that they earn their keep as his assistant. over time, Rolando embarks on a personal quest to corrupt Lumi, and manipulates them into tormenting the humans who fall into his clutches... ...whilst perhaps growing a touch too fond of the silly little imp 😉

someone left a comment about Spock & Kirk taking McCoy back to the hotel post- the relationship counseling fic, and deeply tragically my brain immediately spat this out

(I'm probably not going to write this because I almost never write sequels and the story stands fine alone imo, but the context I think is that McCoy's made a throwaway comment which, absurdly, made them jealous of Scotty, and they know they don't need to be jealous of Scotty but they're also realizing in real time that they actually GET to be ACTUALLY JEALOUS now, and meanwhile McCoy is like, hey, what the fuck, no, stop it, don't like that!!!)

“On Tessira II, when you tried to ditch us—” “I didn't ditch you—” “And you went off with that pretty Ambassador, and left us in the Prism Gardens?” “She was flirting with me, and you two were pissing me the hell off with your antics,” McCoy snaps. “Acting like I—” “We've already had that fight once,” Kirk says, “and it didn't go so well the first time 'round.” “Have you considered, Doctor, that it was not that we did not trust your taste in companions, but that we disliked that you were choosing her over us?” “I wasn't—I was hardly—goddamnit Spock, it was a romantic place, and she was pretty and friendly, and you two—” “The next words out of your mouth better be prettier and friendlier,” Kirk says. “You'd been bickering, and I thought spending some time together there would—” “Oh, we had a swell time, Bones, tearing that place apart looking for you—” “And barging in on us,” McCoy says, “and embarrassing me, like a pair of—” “Jealous mates?” Spock offers, and McCoy groans. “You're not gonna make me feel bad for living my life!” “I'm not trying to make you feel bad, Bones, just trying to make you understand—” “Understand what I'm getting myself into? Because I'm—” “Gotten yourself into,” Kirk says, the sudden intensity in his gaze settling like a weight on McCoy's shoulders. “No backing out now.” “Lord a'mighty—gotten, then—” “You'd been pulling away from us! For weeks! Nothing we did seemed enough to make you want to stay!” “Did you ever think,” McCoy says, his voice low and harsh, suddenly, “of just asking me to stay?” “I know it's our fault, Bones,” Kirk says, the tension in his frame suddenly collapsing, leaving him almost limp as he sinks down on the bed next to McCoy. “I know it's our fault. It just...” “It hasn't been pleasant, Leonard,” Spock says, his eyes dark. “Watching you repeatedly choose to walk away from us.”

Normally I am a very dedicated single-shipper and don't multi-ship too many characters, but seeing Sugilite, I was kind of like "Okay, but Sugilite and Aventurine would be a whole lot of pretty in one ship."

Until finally Topaz is like "Sugilite, real talk here: Do you even actually like Aventurine, or are you just jealous he found someone and you're still single? Because you're the most annoying person I know, but also... I'm right here? We could just go on a real date sometime, you know?"

This is how Sugilite realizes he is actually a certifiable boyfailure™.
