It’d been a long day, comprising you meeting one of my oldest friends, ticking two main Sydney attractions off our list, us getting lost – more than once: the first, when trying to get to the welcome centre to kickstart our scheduled tour; the second, when we were trying to find our way out of a residential neighbourhood and ended up on the pavement of a highway to seemingly nowhere – and a $10 for any ramen bowl deal we serendipitously stumbled into. The three of us were trying, poorly, to navigate our way back to the train station where we’d split from my friend, and head back to our temporary shelter. You were comfortable enough to vocalise your enquiry on directions, “Where the hell is the station?” I shrugged and said, oblivious to the fact that you could hear me, “I don’t know, girl.” You stopped right in your tracks, turned to me with a grin already spreading on your face. “What?” you spluttered, incredulous, grabbing me and lifting me up in the air to spin me around as you continued laughing. Much as with life, I continue carrying no clues about where I am nor where to go next, but I know I’ll always find my happiest place in your arms.

It’d probably be around 10/15 years now, though, realistically I’ve been drawing for all 22 years of my life, but I guess I started taking it like more “seriously” when I was like 8ish and really into pokemon. Fun fact: gravity falls was what got me really interested in animation! Here’s a redraw of an old thing I drew too :)

Crying over the thought of no one remembering Link’s birthday. Like after the 100 years, Link wakes up and realizes one day he cannot recall his birthday.

To his dismay, neither Impa, Robbie, Purah nor Zelda recall his birthday. He acts as if it isn’t a big deal, but he’s always finding himself quite sad when celebrating the birthdays of others.

Sidon notices at his own birthday celebration that his Hylian friend has a sense of sorrow. One that isn’t possible to rid of with his famous smile and flex. When Sidon approaches Zelda, she reveals that Link cannot recall his birthday, and that no one who knew him 100 years ago seemed to remember or take note. Sidon looks sympathetic towards the revelation, but then he has a thought…

Moments later, it becomes rather apparent that Sidon, the literal 10 foot tall birthday shark, has slipped away from his own party! A search begins around the domain. Where did he wander off to?

While looking around, Link finds himself being the one to enter Sidon’s room. He hears a flipping of pages, and he curiously notices Sidon looking through a journal. Before Link’s presence gets known, Sidon smiles his famous smile, and shouts “I KNEW IT”!

Link walks over to the happy shark man. Wondering why Sidon dipped from his own celebration to read a… paper journal. One that seems… familiar. Mipha’s journal?

Sidon, seeing his friend, scoops him up in excitement! Shouting over and over a date that wasn’t too far off in the future. Link looked confused, and when Sidon noticed said confusion, Sidon smiled. “Your birthday, Link! Mipha… she wrote it down! I knew she would!”

Link looked puzzled for a moment. What did Link’s birthday have to do with anything? But then he understood… his birthday WAS remembered. It had a date again. It wasn’t lost. Sidon couldn’t help but show the page of Mipha’s diary that spoke of Link’s upcoming birthday. Of the plans she had to surprise him despite the calamity looming.

Link couldn’t help but tear up at his smiling tail-wagging friend. Sidon looked concerned, thinking he did something wrong, but the tight hug Link gave him said otherwise. He thanked him. Repeatedly. And Sidon only began to smile again. Immediately beginning to ramble off birthday plans for his dearest friend.

But to Sidon’s dismay, Link cut him off. Telling him that it’s not Link’s birthday they should be celebrating right now. That Sidon has a party to get back to. Sidon only pouts playfully before readying to return to the celebration.

After the two do, Link couldn’t help but catch himself looking towards Mipha’s statue throughout the party. A few looks paired with a smile, but a few… a few felt tied with tears.

everyone shut up I need to recontextualize ART and iris' relationship through a sibling lens. im aware that 1) ART experiences time differently than Iris and therefore any sort of age difference means nothing to them and 2) there is a decent chance they were specifically raised together because they're the same age. BUT ALSO thats not as fun to me. The options here are that 1) ART is the older sibling, which I feel like is the dynamic they would automatically fall into given that. You know. It's Like That (something about always giving unsolicited advice and pestering you to self-improve while also being deeply protective of you is older sibling coded) and also experiences time on a much slower scale than Iris so technically, to ART, it is actually older or at the very least has experienced more age. However. Option 2 is that ART is a younger sibling which is just funny. Imagine meeting Iris and she mentions her younger sibling and you're like awww do you have a picture of them? and she's like yeah, this is us when it turned 4!! and shows you a picture of herself as a kid in front of a massive research transport. what do you even say to that. Secret option 3 is that ART is a middle child (iris is the oldest and Holism is the youngest) which is objectively the funniest and therefore is the one I've incorporated into my belief system

The Apothecary Diaries becoming one of the most popular anime of its season had this hilarious side effect of guys who would not normally watch it picking it up and then leaving reviews like, ‘Wow, a good female anime character!’ (referring to Maomao) And it’s so funny cause like, sir, you have never seen a single (good) shoujo anime in your life and it shows.
