hi!! I first off wanted to say THANK YOUU!! I came across your page abt two months ago when I needed new fics and I use your recs so often!! I was wondering, what are a few of your all-time favorite fics, if you had to choose? (:

Oh my goodness! I'm so glad to hear that you've been enjoying my blog! I can't believe I've been running this blog for 3 years today!

What a fun ask (I've been sitting on this so I could use it for today!) I really struggled to pick fics - or more accurately, not to pick ALL the fics! I picked fics that are my go to rereads - whether it's because they make me laugh or because they pull at my heartstrings, or because they're so hot, these are some of my personal favorites.

LISTEN. this is one of the most unique stories i have ever read in this fandom. the writer created this whole lore where librarians are like. these otherworldly eternal beings and it follows irma pince's immortal life as she tends the hogwarts library and just. i love it. i love it so much.

Notes on a resurrection by newleaves - ok this one is a drarry fix-it fic where unspeakable draco malfoy accidentally raises harry's dad from the dead. and harry's mum. and harry's favorite dada teacher. and--well, u get the picture. i am not kidding when i say this is one of my favorite fics EVER like ever ever ever the lovely @simmy75 recommended it to me and i am now eternally grateful to her bc it altered my brain chemicals permanently. Like. i will try not to go on and on but this is one of the most beautifully and uniquely written stories i have ever read!! it is complex and confusing and feels like trying to put a puzzle together because draco is SUCH an unreliable narrator and just!!! please go read it. even if u are not a drarry fan this fic is AMAZING

Of Memories and Milk Thievery by moonymoment (@blurryayse hi jude i already yelled at u abt how much i love this) - this is the most recent like. longer completed marauders fic that i've read and it!!! is!!!! so!!! good!!! perfect balance of angst and sweetness and jude's writing makes me run around in circles like a dog chasing its own tail. remus + sirius are exes co-parenting teddy + they are both so petty that it leads to shenanigans + confrontations + tears + a poorly-thought-out parent-trap style plot by teddy + harry.

A Darling, A Demon, A Lamb by brightened - this one is a very dark alice/lily first war fic told from lily's pov. very very heavy so please check warnings + everything if u decide to read - i love angst and i love dark fics and this is beautifully written so i'm kind of obsessed <3 currently on hiatus but the day it comes back i will be devouring it posthaste

When did you get into Drarry and why? about three years ago I got back into the general concept of fandom with the goal to take fic as seriously (possibly more seriously) than I do mainstream publications and films. i got into drarry towards the end of march 2021!

Which Drarry fic hooked you? i got into drarry because What We Pretend We Can't See was randomly recced on an episode of the hannigram podcast i listen to. i actually listened to the podfic before i read it - i put it on my phone, got my headphones on and walked for 18 kilometers straight listening to it. ah, the good old days.

Top three FOUR favorite Drarry fics THINGS: that's an impossible task but my most formative fics are Teenage Wasteland (and all of Galla's fics - i personally identify as her Draco actually), Still Warm, Still warm by @tsauergrass and TOOBK by @lou-isfake! And of course Saras_Girl just, as a spiritual guide. All of those sort of defined draco and harry as they appear in my head!

Why can’t you quit them? part of the reasoning behind my mission of reading fic with the same respect as mainstream literature was realizing that a lot of my formative traits and personality was also derived from the fics i read as a teenager. these things mean something, they speak often more directly to the soul at large. i think drarry for me is the perfect model for redemption and recovery, the primary colors of my life. their love is touching to me, in every iteration. also they're very pretty.

Would you rather be friends with Harry or Draco? my immediate response? draco, because i feel like we have more in common. my real response? harry, because we actually have more in common

Who breaks your heart more often? who breaks your heart: harry, because he is often so harsh and blinded by his own rage and contempt for the world as it compares to the things in his head (tagged/me) who does your heart break for: draco, because i want to take care of him

Ideal career for Harry? For Draco? soft careers all the way! for draco: primary school teacher, pastry chef, writer (especially of cute or gentle things), librarian. i also adore smart!draco. for harry: shepard, lumberjack, primary school teacher, craftsman, chef. i also like it when he doesn't work! AAAB but auror is okay too occasionally

Harry and Draco are being sent to a desert island for a week with plenty of food and water. Each is allowed to bring three additional items (no wands). What do they bring? just one: i hc that harry is very low maintenance luxe, so nike supreme stars dunks

Favorite non-Drarry HP character? ron and blaise <3 especially easy-going ron, you know the type, like FeelsForBreakfast's ron in Clouds That Veil the Midnight Moon or ron in DorthyAnn's fics!

Would you rather read a fic that made you laugh or one that made you cry? fics rarely make me laugh, but I adore it when they do! but i'd rather read something that manages to make me sob honestly, it's just so cathartic

Love it! Such a delicious trope, I love love love the potential for both angst and fluff in it. My favorites are the ones that have buckets of hurt then buckets of comfort, I want my catharsis ok! 😂 funny story, I wasn’t super into this trope when I first joined the Drarry fandom, it was more of an acquired taste after my years in the MCU fandom. Eighth Year - Drarry Fic

Part One:

           Harry woke up to the smell of bacon and the soft coos of Pigwidgeon. It had been months now that he could wake up relaxed, easing into the routine of the Weasleys. After all he'd been through, the consistency felt nice. He stretched his arms and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes before putting on his glasses and blinking the world into a sharp image. Glancing around the room, he noticed that Ron was already awake, given his bed was an empty lump of sheets. This was the first time all summer that Ron had gotten up before Harry, and he suspected it was due to the occasion – their return to Hogwarts.

Harry and his best friends had honestly not been anticipating living through the war, but eventually they stopped being able to dodge the question of what comes next. Harry had immediately been offered a job as an auror following Voldemort's downfall, and Ron thought he was going to land some job at the Ministry. It was Hermione that proposed the trio go back to schooling.

"If you think about it, we've only completed six years," she'd said. The two boys, her boys, were still in a post-war stupor then, not willing to dwell on their days at Hogwarts quite yet.

"Hermione," Ron said, through a mouthful of lunch, "we're 18 now. We're too old for Hogwarts. Besides, what can they teach us that we don't already know?"

"Lots of things, Ronald," Hermione said with a stubborn edge in her voice. "After all the insanity that happened, we deserve a chance to be normal students." She looked at Harry for defense, but he was too stunned with the flood of emotion to say anything, so she continued. "Refinement. New spells. New potions. You're never too old to learn. Besides, after Voldemort's downfall, they're bound to teach students differently. The whole curriculum will be different and I don't want to miss out!"

Harry's breath hitched imperceptibly when Hermione said Voldemort's name. Not because he was scared – he hadn't been scared of saying Voldemort's name in years – but because Hermione said it so boldly. In a way, it was comforting. It served as another reminder that he really was gone.

When he looked up, he caught Hermione's gaze. She had a sparkle in her eye talking about Hogwarts and the idea of going back. He mulled over the thought of an eighth year, and after a bit of a back and forth with Ron, they eventually had decided to enroll at Hogwarts one last time.

He walked into the bright kitchen as he did every morning. Ginny walked over to Harry and pecked him on the cheek. "Morning sweetheart," she sang. Ginny was offended when Mr. and Mrs. Weasley had asked her if she'd be returning. She practically yelled that obviously she was, then insisted the conversation end there. That was something that always impressed Harry about his fiery girlfriend – her unabashed way of standing up for herself. It was a skill she grew into over the past few years, and it made Harry's heart skip a beat every time she'd stride over to him and grab him boldly by the shoulders to plant a kiss on his mouth.

Ron was sitting on the counter, leaning his chin onto Hermione's head, who was standing between his legs. His hands carelessly rested at her hip. When Hermione lifted her gaze from the morning's issue of The Daily Prophet, she gave Harry a soft smile.

"Oy, Harry!" Ron exclaimed with a bit of devilish excitement. "We made the paper!"

Harry looked surprise, and grabbed it from Hermione's hands.

"Hey!" she quipped.

"Sorry," Harry muttered as he thumbed through the black and white pages and moving pictures. He came across the article Ron was talking about. Golden Trio Start Final Term at Hogwarts – Again! the paper read. Harry rolled his eyes. He shoved the paper back at Hermione and sat down, not wanting to read what it said. He had hoped that defeating Voldemort would be the end to his fame. He thought he'd be able to settle down with Ginny and live a nice life in peace.

"The Golden Trio," Harry said, "I mean, c'mon." The nickname referred to him, Hermione, and Ron, and was becoming a popular phrase around Britain.

"At least they're finally getting recognition," he heard Ginny lament. And he knew she was right. For so long it had been Harry vs. the world, so some solidarity felt nice.

"It's just cheesy," he said as he chomped on a piece of bacon.

Harry watched different Weasleys float in and out of the kitchen as the morning progressed. He was definitely going to miss it here. The Weasleys were the family he never had but always wanted. The way they absorbed and protected people like him and Hermione was what made them some of his favorite people. All summer he'd gotten to know the eldest Weasley children, too. Bill, and his wife Fleur decided to travel around the world for a while after the Battle of Hogwarts, and in-between each trip they'd spend a couple weeks with their family. Charlie moved back home for a while too, before agreeing (or being bullied into) getting a flat with Percy. But Percy had proved to be so insufferable, that Charlie visited enough to make it seem as if he'd never left. He'd come in, flopping onto the couch and complaining about "our tight-ass prat of a brother, lecturing me about chores and informing me about the inner-workings of the Ministry."

It was hard for Charlie to walk back into life at the Weasleys because he'd been in Romania so long. Charlie was an independent. He refused to be reined in. He wore all black all the time, painted his nails, and sometimes sported a dangly earring. He'd even had a secret tattoo on his back of a dragon breathing fire. It was charmed so that the dragon flew around between his shoulder blades.

But besides the commentary on his style choices, Charlie struggled with Percy's betrayal and Fred's death. They all did, of course, but besides George and Mrs. Weasley, Charlie seemed to have the most grief. He wished he had never gone to Romania, he confessed to Harry one night when he was wine drunk. Harry told him he didn't mean it, but Charlie insisted and tears welled in his eyes. That was the first time Harry had ever thought any boy was pretty. The way the grief bubbled up into his face like a delicate thing Charlie wasn't used to after having spent so long with gritty dragons stood out.

It was with Charlie that Harry opened up to about his nerves returning to Hogwarts. About how sad it made him, in a way. It wasn't the Hogwarts he fell in love with at age 11. This was a post-war Hogwarts, where Dumbledore and Snape and Lupin and Fred would never step foot in again. It's where he faced Voldemort for the last time, and where so many people had died. He wanted so desperately to relive the magic of boating across the lake and McGonagall smiling at him when he'd been sorted Gryffindor. He wanted the stupid late-night adventures with Ron and Hermione. He wanted the Hogwarts that didn't put him in peril.

McGonagall was now the headmaster, and it was she who permitted the Golden Trio to return for a final year. She said it was her duty as an educator to allow them the full extent of a Hogwarts Education, but Harry suspected she'd had a soft spot for them. When Hermione sent her an owl, she'd told McGonagall that the three of them needed accommodations of sorts, since they would not be the typical students. McGonagall's reply came the next day. She was in agreement that matriculation would be different, and that they could expect any resources for maintaining optimal mental health, first pick of class schedule, access to a special dormitory that was being built for eighth year students, and the promise to negotiate any other contingencies. She also offered them enrollment in a new class taught by an incoming professor for those with advanced skill in combative magic and magical defense. She included that what they should NOT expect was leniency in grading, pity, special privileges, or any other pish posh of the sort.

Ron and Harry were immediately thrilled, but Hermione pouted.

"I'm writing back," she had said.

"Why?" Harry questioned as she furiously scribbled with a fresh quill.

"Because I want to be re-instated as Head Girl," Hermione said, "and I want access to the restricted section of the library."

Ron laughed warmly from his chest. "Tell her, love." In the end, Hermione (mostly) got her way. McGonagall said that she could co-Head Girl, but giving her the sole title would be unfair to the incoming student. Additionally, the restricted section of the library would soon be rid of all dangerous dark magic books and then open to all students with approval from the librarian.

It seemed so soon after Harry's discovery of the headline of the news that Mr. and Mrs. Weasley came bustling into the room saying that it was time for them to get going to King's Cross. The lot of them set off in just as much of a messy haste as ever.

Walking into King's Cross was surreal. Arthur and Molly were the first to press through the brick wall to get to Platform 9 and three quarters. Following them was Charlie, followed closely by Percy, then Ron and Hermione. Harry stood with Ginny's hand wrapped in his. He absentmindedly rubbed his thumb against her fingers.

"Ready for the Hogwarts Express?" Ginny said, eyes twinkling. Harry raised her hand to his lips and kissed it before saying of course. Ginny rushed through with zero fear. She disappeared in a flash of red hair.

After Harry dipped through he found the platform to be more familiar than he thought it would be. The dozens of families wrapping their kids in their arms made him smile almost as much as the youngins waving with their heads poking out through the windows. In a way he felt too old to be going back to school, but in a different, more prominent way, he felt the excitement and potential of Hogwarts filling him.

The train was smooth as it started speeding down the tracks. Ginny was waving goodbye to her brothers and parents, and Ron and Hermione were talking in quiet voices. Harry didn't want to interrupt, so he decided after a while to go explore the cabins and search for some familiar faces. Now that he thought about it, he realized all summer he'd just assumed he and his best friends were the only eighth years returning to Hogwarts, but he didn't actually know.

Before long he had traipsed up and down several cabins, seeing nobody from his original class. He was about to give up when a long shimmer of blonde, wavy hair caught his attention. He rushed up to the girl and plopped down in front of her.

"Oh, hello, Harry," Luna said in a sweet voice. "How are you?" She spoke softly just as she always had, like nothing changed.

"I'm fine, Luna, and you?" He paused for a moment before continuing. "It is so good to see you. Hermione and Ron are here as well."

She smiled widely. "That's lovely!" she said. "Are you lot staying in the new dormitory? It's a small one near where the bridge used to be. You know, the one Seamus blew up?" her wide eyes bore into him. Harry had a painful jolt when she talked about the destruction from the Battle of Hogwarts, but nodded and smiled through it.

"Oy, is Neville here?" he said.

"No," Luna said nonchalantly. "He's been given a job at a magical plant greenhouse. He really loves it. He brings my dad and me organic dirigible fruit and all sorts of magical plants to snack on. He says the mulch helps his head stay clear." The way Luna talked was as if she was reporting information. Which made sense, Harry thought, consider her dad was a journalist with his own magazine. "Harry," Luna said, snapping him out of his thoughts, "remember to sweep for nargles. They've really been prominent this year." She flipped her pink and blue glasses down from her forehead and gave him another wide smile.

"Sure thing, Luna" Harry said as he stood up. "We'll get lunch sometime." His mind was still with Luna when he ran into the last person he wanted to see.

Draco Malfoy was staring Harry down.

1. What fandoms do you write for? SNOWBAZ!! And, never thought I’d say this, but Drarry too.

4. Do you write original stories as well? I do, but not much. Usually if I have a really good idea and I want to just know what it’s like to be inside my own head, then I’ll grab a piece of paper and just write.  I have a couple stories, but they’re only a couple pages long at most. 

12. Break your reader’s heart or make them laugh? I love this one. I would rather make my reader’s laugh than break their heart. I have thought about writing an angst ending to one of my fics though, and just in general.

13.What’s your planning process? 😂Funny question. My planning process is 1, get in the zone and think 2, start jotting ideas on whiteboard 3, put ideas on paper for future ideas 4, Pick ideas and open a google doc. 5, Write a paragraph or two then leave it for the day... maybe two days. 6, double check ideas and start the plot of the fic. 7, after writing for a week, forget plot and plan and just write 😂(Yes, this happens). 8, get back on track and make a new plan.  I’m kidding guys. The last one is almost a lie. It happens sometimes. 😂

18. Favorite writing prompt? I actually can’t say because I don’t go my prompts most of the time. And I am kind of new to writing. Kind of. So I don’t usually check prompts often and write them. I will, go to a prompt blog and check out the prompt there if I’m feeling it. So yeah, I can’t say which one is my favourite, because in all honesty, there is too many 😂

20. List of all current available fics?  Sure thing! Simon’s Librarian Boy, Seventh Year (Which I wrote for a lovely girl on insta), and Penny’s Not-Wanted Birthday Surprise. 💙

24. How many WIPs do you have? 😂Three. If you mean the ones I’m currently working on. I do have a WIP, it’s old, and I don’t think I’m going to continue it. It’s also on paper (because I didn’t trust my family with seeing me write on the pc) (Okay and because I was dumb enough to not think about writing it on a doc). It’s a cute little one-shot, which was actually going to be part of Penny’s N-W B-day Sup., but I changed it, and never got back to writing that story. 

43. Guilty pleasure troupes and scenarios? Damn okay. My guilty pleasure troupes.... probably party troupes. Whatever they are/will be. It doesn’t matter, it could be Dude drunk at party and dude has to take him home then falls for him (something along those lines). Or two boys get chosen for 7 min. in heaven. You know? Yeah, they’re pretty cliche, but I’m a sucker for those.

Hello! I’m super honoured that I was given the chance to participate in Happy Hour! Thank you so much thedrarrylibrarian, you’re incredible!!

When it came to picking a fic to recommend, my mind immediately went to one of the first Drarry fics I've read, which still makes me grin silly whenever I think about it.

The Miseducation of Draco Malfoy by @magpiefngrl (37,600 words, rated E)

Zacharias Smith writes a tell-all about the D.A. Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy are not happy about it.

This fic introduced me to one of my absolute favourite Drarry tropes, Draco exploring Muggle culture! Alongside Harry who gets to watch his fascination unfold. The setting was super intriguing and I instantly became absorbed in Magpie_fngrl’s humour and fun characterizations of the boys. I was utterly charmed by their boyish antics that I bursted out laughing at every interaction.

“Potter smirked. “You like something Muggle,” he crooned and Draco made to punch him on the arm, but Potter dodged and Draco tried again, and they ended up doing a sort of dance, until Potter nodded at the irksome assistants who looked ready to intervene.”

I adored watching them become friendly, silly and sweet. I became so fond of Dracos curiosity with muggle culture that to this day I continue to reread this fic constantly for a boost of serotonin. I hope you fall for this fic like I did! I’m thankful to magpie_fngrl and all the amazing Drarry authors who’ve created impactful fics that inspired me so much to draw Drarry and be part of this fandom!

2. Work you are most proud of (and why):

Probably Looking Through You. I spent the most time and effort on that one. When I was writing it, it just felt like I had to spend a lot of time getting things a certain way. Usually I don’t get so hung up on word choices...I’m more of a dialogue and story person. But for this one, I couldn’t seem to keep going forward until I had things just right. 

3. Work you are least proud of (and why):

I wouldn’t say I’m not proud of anything I published this year. Let’s just say there are some fics I wrote that I like better than others. I won’t say which or I’ll get defensive messages again from people and/or @juliusschmidt teasing me.

4. A favorite excerpt of your writing:

Harry tries his best to walk in normally, but the last time they were here Liam literally had to step between him. He sees Liam tense up in his chair first because he can’t bring himself to meet Louis’ eye. He opens his mouth to say hello or anything really, but he glances Louis’ way and is struck mute by the way Louis looks. He’s wearing the same clothes he left their flat in the night before. He clearly got about as much sleep as Harry did based on the darkness beneath his eyes and the taut lines around his mouth, his hair ruffled haphazardly. He looks exhausted and wounded and yet so lovely it hurts to look at him, and Harry just wants to go home. 

He wants what they once had and the fragile beginning of something that he can’t seem to get right. This is what home means to him now, maybe what it has always meant to him. It means Louis in the flat making tea, it means Louis’ voice calling out his name with a laugh, it means Louis borrowing his t-shirts and never returning them, it means staying in curled up on the sofa with Netflix, it means kissing him with the desperation of a man who just wants him to stay. It means all of it and everything that Louis is to him. And while these are all the things in Harry’s heart, he doesn’t see any sign of the same written on Louis’ face.

(This was the worst trying to find something. But I’m also going to include this next one so @bangiebbelievesinlarry doesn’t come for me.)

The monster shrugs again. Louis really wishes he didn’t look so damn attractive when he’s shrugging. “Well, have fun sitting here waiting for your non-existant trick-or-treaters.”

Louis glares at the monster’s very appealing broad shoulders as he walks away. The monster mainly stays in Niall’s circle, but at one point Louis sees him chatting with Liam and a few minutes later with his lab partner, Lissie. He’s showing them his dimples, too. Probably shows everyone his dimples. He’s a ho. A dimples ho. It’s fine. Louis doesn’t care anyway. He can show his dimples to anyone he wants. Louis just doesn’t want any part of them.

5. Share or describe a favorite comment you received:

Ohhhh, too many to share here. I’m a comment ho. I love every single one of them. I’m utterly delighted every time I get the ao3 email that says I have a comment. I’ll say my proudest moment may have been seeing one of my fics on @magicalrocketships ‘s rec list. If I could go back in time and tell the me that first started publishing fics that someday sunsetmog was going to read and like one of my fics, I would have told my future self to gtfo. 

6. A time when writing was really, really hard:

See all those fics up there? Almost every one of them had a deadline attached to it. I spent the first part of the year signing up for every damn thing that crossed my dash, and I spent the last part of the year regretting all my life’s choices. I’d say by early fall I’d begun to get burned out, which was unfortunate seeing as how I had many fics due November 1. lol. And then I thought, why not do nano in November on top of it? Because I’m an idiot. 

7. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you:

Darcy the Parrot? I dunno. lol. I had no idea when I was writing That’s How I Know that Darcy the Parrot was going to be such a thing. That fic is my fic with the most kudos at this point. Who knew people were going to like troublesome parrots? Not me. 

8. How did you grow as a writer this year:

Well, I apparently wrote a hell of a lot of fic this year. 286k words actually. I’d say I tried out a lot of different genres, so I guess I was adventurous at times with what I was doing. I wrote construction workers, vampires, mischievous cats and parrots, a Regency era romance, librarians, pop stars, songwriters, models, actors, farmer’s markets, and high school aus. I wrote fics set in Rome and Vegas and New York City and Chicago and of course, London. I wrote enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, strangers to lovers, meet-cutes, exes to lovers, and established relationships. I wrote humor and fluff and smut and angst. And I wrote Tomlinshaw and Drarry in addition to all the Larry fics. So yeah, tried out a lot of things this year. 

9. How do you hope to grow next year:

Next year, I’d like to focus on writing more what I want to write rather than write for everyone else, which is what I did this year. I think it was really great for me to do that and stretch myself, but next year I have some things planned that I really want to see through. 

10. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):

Forever and always @taggiecb. I don’t know how I’d write without her, honestly. At this point we talk in our own fic shorthand that we’ve been speaking for the better part of 3 years. Sometimes I have to ask her to really look through something and tell me what’s wrong with it, and she always has the best insight into what could be the problem, but she always does it with such love. I’m so grateful for that because I know she hates to pick apart my writing. She’s the person who loves my fics the most, so she has to fight herself to give me things to fix. lol. 

11. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year:

Hoo boy. Well, for one thing, I have been sometimes intentionally, sometimes unintentionally, writing myself into my Harry characters. And one of my fics this year is almost completely autobiographical. I’ll leave to your imaginations as to which one that might be. 

12. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:

I think the best advice that I’ve experienced is reaching out to other writers. Writing doesn’t have to be a solitary experience if you don’t want it to be. I love having groups of writer friends to go to when I need them for support or to give some fresh eyes to something I’m writing. 

13. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:

I still need to finish my wip And I Could Hear the Thunder. I’m a bit stuck on it at the moment. 

I’ll be publishing one right away in the new year for the 1000 Feelings challenge/ @nottooldforthisship ‘s birthday. It’s based on a great manip from @melmanpur! 

I am writing a fic for the Moodboard Larry fic challenge, but that’s supposed to be anonymous. So I won’t say too much for now on that. 

I have a fairly ambitious longer fic planned. I don’t know how much I want to say about it. I’ll just say for now that it’s historical. And it has a pretty big twist to it.

A strange little love story.Harry is cursed temporarily blind and deaf while alone outside, and is helped by a gentle stranger (*cough* Draco). SO SWEET. Part of her fluffy!verse (collection of one-shots), and anyone after fluff should really read them all

Yours Until Midnight by drarryisgreen (4.5K)- Harry sits at a cafe owned by Draco day after day and wonders why Draco likes to bother him. / Lots of rain, lots of tea(s), lots of fluff.Some fics you just adore for no reason you can articulate, and this is one of those for me. Harry is a (secret) fiction writer under the alias January James, and he writes all his stories in Draco’s cafe, while drinking Draco’s tea and pining without even realizing what he wants. Heart-clenchingly sweet!

Then Comes A Mist and A Weeping Rain by faithwood (21K)- It always rains for Draco Malfoy. Metaphorically. And literally. Ever since he had accidentally Conjured a cloud. A cloud that’s ever so cross.This fic has the most kudos of any Drarry fic on AO3, so everyone and their grandmother has probably read it, but READ IT AGAIN because there is a cloud that follows Draco around raining on the poor boy EXCEPT WHEN HARRY’S BEING NICE TO HIM

Luckiest Fucking Size Queen Alive by @l0vegl0wsinthedark​ (6K)- Potter escorts me home, presses me into my front door and kisses me with a ferocity that’s exhilarating. And then Potter asks me, in a growl that makes my cock throw a wet tantrum in my pants, how many more dates I would deem mandatory before I let him fuck me. I drag Potter to bed.This fic is fucking hilarious. Quite possibly my favorite humor/fluff/smut combination ever. They both work at the Ministry, and Draco is lured to Potter by the rumors of his amazing cock and they’re so cute and it’s just pure brilliance.

Good to me (And I’d Be So Good to You) by AWickedMemory (9K)- Everyone returns to Hogwarts after the war, but nothing is quite the same. Harry’s groupies are creepier than ever, Ron and Hermione are snogging all over the place, and the once-proud Draco is shuffling around like a kicked puppy. But that’s okay: Harry’s got a plan.Harry implements Operation Make Friends With Draco Malfoy, and Draco is very confused. Also featuring “Harry’s Draco Lucius Abraxas Malfoy Repository of Information Collected Whilst Stalking (DLAMRoICWS)” hehehe

The Wolf Pack by dracogotgame (13.5K)- Nobody said achieving your animagus form was easy. Draco could handle being a wolf pup for a while, right? How bad could it be?Oh my GOD Draco’s animagus form is a wolf PUPPY and he meets another wolf in the forest and bothers him all the time and then he adopts this wolf as his protector. And the wolf is annoyed but reluctantly amused and endeared and I WONDER WHO THAT WOLF IS HM WHO COULD IT BE????

Mingling, Mistletoe & Misdeeds by @jadepresley​ (10K)- Three couples in denial. One Christmas party to make them finally see sense. Christmas fluff!This fic is adorable! It also features Ron x Pansy and Hermione x Theo, and I fell in love with those other two pairings in this fic as much as Drarry! Christmassy and LOVELY. And Draco planned the party, so you know it’s a good one ;)

Candy by @bixgirl1​ (5.5K)- It was only after careful consideration that Draco came to the wildly preposterous conclusion that he and Potter were actually friends. Sweet fic. May cause cavities.Harry wants to be friends with Draco, but Draco refuses. And keeps refusing. Until somehow they’re suddenly friends, and then they’re more then friends, and Draco has no idea how any of it happened! Oblivious!Draco is my favorite Draco and yes I think I may have indeed gotten a cavity from how sweet this fic was ;)

Drarry + mystery/case fic recs

Anastasia is one of my favorite childhood movies, so this is a treat. Nice mystery, and assertive!Harry like woah.)

• The Darkness Before the Dawn by Ren (55k)A mysterious creature is loose in London, stalking and killing people. Auror Harry Potter requests the help of a liaison from the Beast Division and gets saddled with Draco Malfoy. Will they be able to stop the creature before it claims more lives? (Very interesting case with scary perpetrator. I freaked a bit. I love the way Drarry are in this, all cute but also arguing. Draco is a sweetheart!)

• Reparations by Sara’s Girl (87k)Harry is about to discover that the steepest learning curve comes after Healer training, and that second chances can be found in unexpected places. (So this isn’t even supposed to be a mystery fic, and yet it has one of the best-written mysteries I know? I ADORE everything about this fic. A++.)

• The Boy Who Only Lived Twice by lettered (54k)Harry Potter is an Unspeakable. Draco Malfoy is the wizard who shagged him. Adventure! Intrigue! Secret identities, celebrities, spies! It’s all right here, folks. (This is all kinds of excellent, I love the writing and the secret identities and the pure pure love. We get some great action scenes in here as well!)

• Running on Air by eleventy7 (74k)Draco Malfoy has been missing for three years. Harry is assigned the cold case and finds himself slowly falling in love with the memories he collects.(Such slow-burn in everything from the love story to the resolution to the mystery behind Draco’s disappearance. Beautiful. I cried rivers.)

• The Mystery of the Dead Man’s Curse by Astardanced77 (30k)An unsolved mystery, an ancient curse and a new librarian. Harry is back at Hogwarts where strange things are afoot!(A recent discovery of mine, I love the writing, the funny details, the mystery of the curse, the pining, and the way Harry is so obviously in love.)

• Eternally Consistent by kitsunealyc (44k)Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter assumed they would never be anything but civil enemies, until Potter lands on Malfoy’s doorstep, bleeding, covered in curses, and acting very strangely indeed. (This fic is one of my long-time faves, I love it so much. It’s really cool, Draco in particular is brilliant, there’s sass and wit, and time-turner mystery!)

And for everyone who hasn’t already read it:

• Crossing Lines by Ren (47k)While investigating a ring of smugglers, the Aurors receive a tip saying that the European Express is being used to move contraband across state lines. To solve the case, Harry has to unmask the smugglers and find the hidden contraband before the luxury train reaches Bulgaria. Draco Malfoy is also on board… but that’s just coincidence, isn’t it? (Previously mentioned and definitely worth a read. Nice case set on a train of all things, sassy!Draco, oblivious!Harry, the works. Oh, and there’s pining~)

Can you recommend some good Librarians fics and videos and such?

Unfortunately, I don’t read a lot of fanfics or watch videos a lot of videos in this fandom for some reason (okay I won’t lie it’s because I read a shit ton of Drarry)

However, I can absolutely recommend @queerseth‘s Home is Where the Heart Is. It is one of my favorites, it’s gay, and it’s emotional which is all you need from a fic really. As for videos, I do have a bunch of my own The Librarians fan videos on my youtube channel and on that channel I keep a playlist of The Librarians fan video from other LITs.

I'm so excited to welcome @phoebe-delia to the library! I've loved reading her work for a long time, and am always especially impressed by the fact that she answers so many prompts! My favorite of her series is Eight Drarry Nights at Hanukkah time every year, which are always warm and so full of love and light. I knew she'd pick a great fic, and I think it'll be a sweet and romantic start to your Valentines season. Thanks again to @phoebe-delia!

I want to start out by thanking the incredible @thedrarrylibrarian for the chance to participate in Happy Hour. You do phenomenal work, and I just really hope you know how valued you are. I fangirl every time we interact and I am incredibly honored to get to do this.

Now, on to the rec!

When our lovely Librarian asked me to do a guest rec for Happy Hour, this fic was the first to come to mind. I still gave it a lot of time and consideration, of course, but at the end of the day I kept coming back to this story.

Malfoy walks across the grounds to the forbidden forest nearly every night, but falls asleep in class during the day. Harry can't get enough of him.

An eighth year fic.

Every fic of Honey’s that I’ve read makes me want to be a better writer, because their storytelling is so effortlessly rich. I always have at least one moment where I have to pause and look off into the distance so I can really appreciate a line and let it sink into my brain.

And this fic has quite a few of those moments for me. The descriptions here are so vivid; I felt like I was watching Drarry through a pensieve. I’m resisting the urge to quote dump here, because I think you should experience this writing for yourself in the way Honey intended it. It’s the kind of story that, in my humble opinion, can’t really be captured in a quote or two. It flows exactly as it needs to.

I adore how Honey characterizes both Draco and Harry. Draco has clearly changed after the war but has kept the same wit and fire that attracts Harry so much. And Harry is just trying to figure out how to exist in this post-war world without Voldemort after him, and it turns out Draco is a big part of his healing. It’s a joy to watch the two of them fall for and into each other.

I just looked back at the comments, because I remembered that I’d left one a while back when I first read it (which was, apparently, in September 2022? What even is time, omg). I’m going to quote from my past self, here, who called the writing “decadent,” and the story “fucking gorgeous,” “creative” and “special.” I told Honey that this fic would always have a special place in my heart. Clearly, my heart kept that promise.

I also told Honey at the time that the fic deserved a much longer, more intensive comment than I could articulate at the time. Turns out I needed over a year. This is as close as I think I’ll get to accurately expressing the way it makes me feel.

Plus, as a personal bonus, this fic happens to include some of my favorite tropes: eighth year, pining, and Harry’s never-ending obsession with Draco.

I hope you all enjoy this fic as much as I do (and that you remember to leave them kudos and a comment!) And Honey, thank you for writing something so wonderful that it stuck with me for over a year.
