it’s wrasslin’ season! following in the footsteps of our mildly successful aew revolution predictions, lets today take a look at stand and deliver (yes, we still watch nxt and also miss that simon has stopped doing ups and downs for this, but we get roi).

trick williams v carmelo hayes: carmelo hayes never knew how good he had it when trick williams was on his side - and now he will feel the pain of losing him. trick will whoop him

nxt championship: ilja dragunov (c) will prevail over tony d’angelo, the don of nxt, and his family, even if there are threats to not just him but ilja's family, as ilja is single-minded to the point of recklessness

nxt women’s championship: roxanne perez has tempted lyra valkyria (c) to the dark side, enabling lyra to retain the title, and creating a rift with tatum paxley - but that’s not much of a sacrifice

north american championship: a truly tough one to predict, as dijak is a ruthless operator, and oba femi is a beast. josh briggs just needs a good show, but ultimately he will be pinned by one of the other two, probably dijak, who can have a quick run before another hopefully more successful try at the wwe main roster

tag team championship: baron corbin and bron breakker are ready to return to the big leagues - axiom and nathan frazer get the win thanks to the disharmony between the wolf dogs, leaving breakker ready to break out in smackdown as a superstar

six-women tag: thea hail, kelani jordan, and fallon henley are outnumbered by jacy jayne, izzy dame, and kiana james, as those three still have jazmyn nyx on their side. shenanigans will ensue, to the detriment of our favourite chase u student - who will seek out a confrontation with jacy, with a no interference-type stipulation

joe gacy v shawn spears: the problem here is that while shawn may have the wrestling upper hand, joe just doesn’t know when to quit. both of these have long indie careers behind them, but i think that shawn’s career trajectory is now to put folks over, so i see joe gacy winning this one, to keep both of them as viable challengers to others

She fell asleep.

Damn near right after her story too. 

She went to our school and had a crush on a guy who slammed her with a football during my senior year. I was on the football team, and, of course, what luck, she conveniently doesn’t remember the guy’s name! 

This has to be some sick joke.

“Hey man, sorry,” Jon said glancing back at me. I guess Trin fell asleep too, didn’t have time to notice, all wrapped in my head and shit.

“Nah uce, it’s fine. She don’ know who it was,” I shrugged and continued glaring out the window with my arms crossed.

Jon sighed and shook his head. “Lil’ bro c’mon we both know it was you. You da only one on the team that damn near murdered a cheerleader our senior year!”

“Jon, ain’t neither one of us knows that for sure. Could’ve been anyone else she talked to afterwards might not have been me. I can’t even remember,” I said waving him off. I could feel him rolling his eyes.

“Boy- You gon tell me that you don’ remember us walkin’ home after that day you sent that poor tiny girl flying off that people tower and talkin’ ‘bout “bro that girl was fuckin’ hot as all hell” and a bunch of other things? I ain’ buying what chu sellin Uce,” he said. 

“You both are real lucky that girl could sleep through a damn nuclear bomb cuz you ain’t quiet,” Trin said adjusting her position.

“Sorry Trin, but he trippin,” Jon said pointing at me.

“I ain’t trippin Jonathan,” I said shaking my head.

“You are Josh. I only brought it up cuz Jon was tellin me ‘bout it a while ago,” She said, unmoving. “I’m sorry she couldn’t remember your name, or whoever’s name if you’re insisting.” She raised her arms feeling my glare.

“Can you three musketeers shut the hell up? Some of us are trying to fuckin’ sleep in this damn car an I’m tellin you right now it’ll be all queen of hearts, hablando mal de la cabeza. Pendejas,” Rosie said groggly.

She angrily threw her pillow on my lap, ripped off her seatbelt, and slammed herself onto it on her side quickly going back to sleep.

We all froze.

“Trin… I thought you said she'd sleep through a hurricane?!” I whisper-yelled holding my arms up avoiding touching the girl suddenly sleeping in my lap

Trin stared in shock, “she's never woken up through talking before!” She yelled.

Thankfully the rest of the ride went smoothly, Trin fell asleep an hour after the fiasco, and I wasn't far behind. Jon woke us up when we arrived at the girls house.

It was a large two-story home painted white with stonework by the door and a black roof. The lights were still on when we pulled in, so someone was awake.

Jon shook Trin, waking her up.

“Oh good, the twins are still up,” she said, wiping the sleep from her eyes. She unbuckled and got out heading to the door, and before long two tall skinny men emerged from the house. Jon and I both slid out of the car, me more gently trying not to wake Rosie.

“Guys, this is David and Daniel, the Winters twins, and Rosie's older brothers,” Trin said.

“Sup, names Daniel, just call me Danny. I take it the ray of sunshine is passed out in the back seat as usual?” He asked, All of us nodded. “Well, David, its yo’ turn I woke her ass last time, and I'm still recovering from the  black eye.”

“I never-” David started, but after a dark glare from his brother changed his mind “ugh fine!”

David slowly shuffled his way to the back seat on the passenger side and slowly, with a shaky hand patted his sister's shoulder lightly she adjusted a little but stayed asleep  Danny rolled his eyes telling him he had to shake her harder. He looked at his twin with the nerves written on his face. 

He shoved her a lot harder and we heard a groan.

“I thought I told you that I was trying to sleep!” She groggily yelled, her brother being met with a shoe to the forehead.

“Well, you ungrateful whelp. You're home now so go to yo’ damn bed,” David said.

“Just carry me,” she said. David rolled his eyes.

“Absolutely not, you can walk in after that nice black eye you just gave me,” He said.

Rosie gave him a stank face ripping her bag from the floor, slamming the car door, and stomping up to the door.

“Damn worse than usual what did y’all do?” Daniel asked holding a fist to his mouth.

“Woke her up in the car,” Trin said, laughing as we watched a big beefy Rottweiler jump on Rosies half asleep form. “Now Dexter is all riled up.”

Jon and I shared a look.

Ain’t no one told us there was a big ass Rottweiler here!

The Don, Tony D'Angelo, steps up and asserts his spot as a contender on NXT! (Ilja's face and the way Carmelo swivels to appeal to Ava are fantastic).

I would like to make the arguement that nobody really deserves an award for being "booker of the year" this year when it comes to american wrestling.

I think All Japan or CMLL's booker should be the winner as they've both had a very hot year each, with my personal vote going to the CMLL booker Painco quite frankly.

Tony Khan has booked Dynamite from a 9 out of 10 weekly show down to a 8 out of 10 weekly show, and while i still think AEW is the best weekly program going in america, booking your show down, even if just by a little doesn't make you the booker of the year, along with 2 aew ppv's being quite weak this year, DoN being the 2nd worst of all time in my opinion and World's End being 3rd worst of all time I just don't think he's had the booker of the year award level good booking, it's been good, but there has been episodes that have sucked.

Also Tony Khan has booked weekly ROH as kinda just maintence booking? The PPV's for ROH have been a run away success and all 3 of them this year have been some of the best, but the weekly tv lacks quality and alot of stories, which they're starting to do more of now absolutely, but alot of ROH matches are announced at the last minute for PPVs instead of being built up.

Weekly NXT shows, I say this unironically, if you like weekly NXT shows that much that you think Shawn Michaels is booker of the year you need to get yourself checked out, how do you dress yourself in the morning, are you mentally all there, are you stupid, are you fucking mental, a horrid product with fucking terrible sub high school drama acting and fucking terrible matches that are the worst of gif wrestling.

And Raw and Smackdown, Smackdown just doesnt matter quite frankly the show doesn't matter at all, nothing happens on Smackdown, and Raw being the best of WWE's tv programmings by default is a nuts situation to say, but Triple H has done a horrible job with pretty much everything on Raw/Smackdown, Rhea has done nothing this year, the fake world title Seth Rollins has is laughable, Cody has been spinning his wheels and Roman still exists.

So theres my thoughts for this "booker of the year" stuff, gun to my head and you force me to pick an american booker im picking Tony Khan, but I still say he's booked AEW into a slightly worse position than it was last year.

Edit* When I say america, I do mean just the bigger promotions, the bois over at DPW and Chris Hero are also in the running for bookers of the year with how well they've booked their small indie promotions.

Revolver and Defy too have had strong years.

The Don of NXT

Summary: The reader gets some help from The Don of NXT after she gets kicked out of the womens locker room.

"Umm excuse me!" Tiffany Stratton stomps over to you while you're sitting at the only vanity in the women's locker room.

"What, Stratton?" You ask her in annoyance while trying to fix your eyeliner. "I'm busy. And you're blocking my light."

You glance at Tiffany in the mirror and spot the sneer on her face. She comes around to your side and glares down at you. "You're hogging the makeup station. Some of us actually know how to wear makeup and need the space more than you and your cakey eyeliner." She confronts you.

"Whatever." You puff your cheeks out in frustration but stand up anyway.

Tiffany grins at you with a triumphant look on her face as you collect your small makeup bag. She pushes you away from the table and sits down in your spot. You take your bag and head out of the locker room before your temper gets you into a fight you can't afford to get into.

You round the corner mumbling to yourself and are promptly met with two men. "Woah, watch where you're going. You almost hit The Don." Channing Lorenzo warns you.

"What?" You reply. "Oh, hey, Tony." You lock eyes with Tony D'Angelo.

"Y/N, what are you doing all the way over here, doll?" Tony asks you. "And why you only got one eyelash on?" He adds.

You roll your eyes, clutching your bag in your free hand. "Ugh. Don't even get me started," You seethe. "That barbie doll Tiffany Stratton kicked me out of the locker room before I could finish getting ready." You explain.

"That broad?" Tony scoffs. "How come you didn't put barbie in her place? You could take her, easy, Y/N."

"I've already got two strikes fighting backstage, or I would have," You grit your teeth. "So I guess it's off to the ladies room for me to finish this." You sigh and begin to walk off.

Stacks and Tony share a look as you walk between them. But it's Tony that steps in your path. "Now hold up just a second, doll," He stops you. "There's a mirror in our locker room if you wanna use that one." He offers.

"Oh," You look at the Don of NXT. "Tony, you don't have to do that." You assure him.

"I know, but I want to," Tony insists. "How do you expect to kick ass if you don't look good while doing it? Right?" He adds with a chuckle.

"Are you sure, Tony?" You bite the inside of your cheek. "I'm perfectly okay with doing my makeup in the ladies room, trust me."

Tony nods his head and grabs your arm gently. "I'm positive, doll." He insists. "Come on, let's go get you all dolled up and looking good. Not that you don't look great right now. Cuz you do."

"Thanks, Tony." You giggle and follow him.

Tony and Stacks walk you down to their spacious locker room and shut the door behind them. There's no vanity. But like D'Angelo promised, there is a clean floor-length mirror against the back wall.

You walk over to the mirror and plop down onto the floor to sit. But you barely get your makeup bag open before Tony is barking orders at Stacks.

"Stacks! What's the matter with you? Get the lafy a chair to sit in!" He orders Lorenzo around.

"Oh, I'm alright, Tony." You protest.

Your claim falls on deaf ears though. And Tony shakes his head. "Nonsense. No lady of mine is gonna do her makeup on the floor like some sort of degenerate."

Stacks brings you a chair and even drags over a small end table for you to set your stuff on. You thank them both again and get to work on finishing your makeup. Once you're done you turn back to the duo with a thankful smile.

"There! What do you boys think?" You ask your hosts.

"Gorgeous!" Tony chuckles. "Killer looks to match that killer attitude."

"Thanks, Tony," You giggle. "I've got a match in a few minutes that I need to get to. But let me know if there's some way that I can repay you sometime. Yeah?" You walk over to the door. "I'll be back later to grab my bag."

Tony nods and watches you walk off.

Stacks looks at Tony with a smug smirk on his face. Tony notices and frowns deeply. "What's the look for?"

"You like her." Stacks grins at The Don.

"I do not!" Tony protests, but Stacks looks unconvinced as Tony tries to fumble an excuse out.

The great Tony D'Angelo has a crush on you.

Stacks grins at D'Angelo and claps The Don on the shoulder cheekily. "What are you waiting for? Ask her out when she comes back to get her bag." He points to your makeup bag sitting on the end table by the mirror. "She'd have to be crazy to turn you down, boss."

"I don't need no advice about women from you, Stacks." Tony glares at his subordonant.

Later in the night, you head back down to The Don's locker room to collect your makeup bag. You knock on the door with D'Angelo plastered on the front and wait. A few seconds later, Stacks answers the door.

"Hey, Stacks." You offer him a friendly smile. "I'm just here to grab my bag." You explain.

Stacks nods and lets you inside the locker room. You glance around and find Tony sitting in his seat looking all in charge. "Y/N! How'd it go down in the ring, doll? You kick ass?" He asks you.

"You know it, boss man." You joke and pick up your makeup bag. "Thanks again for letting me use your mirror." You add.

"No problem." Tony nods. "Feel free to come by and use it anytime you need." He adds.

"Really? Thanks! That's sweet of you, Tony." You grin. "Is there anything that I can help you and Stacks with? I feel kind of bad basically mooching off of you guys." You joke with a laugh.

You catch an odd grin on Stacks' face as he stares a hole into the back of Tony's head. "How's about dinner this weekend?" D'Angelo suggests casually.

"Dinner?" You repeat him. "Yeah, I can do dinner. That sounds nice." You nod. "Is...Tony, is Stacks alright?"

Tony turns around and spots the stupid grin on Channing's face. He glares at Stacks and mumbles something under his breath. "Ignore him." He turns back to you. "The boy ain't right in the head. Know what I'm saying?"

"Sure." You giggle.

"I'll give ya a call later to make dinner plans." Tony continues and chooses to ignore Stacks for the moment. "Take care, doll."

You nod and head to the door. "You too, Tony." You smile at him. "And I'll see you this weekend."

Pretty obvious, but Punk, Eddie Kingston, Christian, Jay White and MJF I think are all good at promos. Bray Wyatt was a great promo. I don't think Kenny gets enough credit for how good he can be on the mic.

Thoughts on AEW Dynamite/Rampage (spoilers)

It's awesome seeing Mercedes. She looks pretty happy to be there-- or at least back in a wrestling ring. She's always seemed like she was in that Moxley/Danielson/probably the other Horsewomen crowd of "I need you to understand that I love professional wrestling. I would marry pro wrestling if I could."

You could argue that only people in pro wrestling are the ones that love it, but there's been plenty of people who have gotten into the business without really loving it. But you can tell when people actually enjoy doing it.

Idk how I feel about her entrance music. Mostly because I can barely hear it-- I watch like 90% of AEW shows on an older tablet, so the audio quality is diminished. Plus, AEW is notorious for seemingly always having some kind of audio problem.

Willow vs Mercedes II is gonna fuck, when they book that.

Eddie's sleeveless duster thing looked cool as hell.

Okada manifesting in some portal behind the Codyvator (or he uses the Codyvator, I can't tell) is such a great entrance. Really helps make him feel like he's a big fucking deal.

I'm... fine... with Okada winning the Continental Championship or whatever they're calling it. It's just the one belt of the triple crown. I went into it expecting Okada to win-- I mean, it's Okada. I would have been fine with Eddie retaining, but I feel like it may be a bit too early for Okada to lose in a match where you'd basically have to lose clean.

Since Eddie is going against Mark Brisco for the ROH belt, I do wonder if they're gonna have Eddie just lose all three. And, if so, I wonder if it's for a storyline or something, or if Eddie just needs some time off.

I'm just, like, kind of tired of Chris Jericho. I get that he's important to the company as the first champion, and he's not unpopular. But the Hook match was just okay. I'll take it over the "Chris Jericho beats up Luchadors from CMLL" thing that's been happening.

Tony please stop having Ospreay show up right when I have to feed my cats and get ready for bed. He's so fucking fun and dorky when he's not wrestling.

I almost missed the tag match with Rosa/Deonna vs Toni/NotToni. But I can assume all four were fun, since they're all good in the ring.

Swerve is just so damn cool. The match with The Butcher was fun.

Samoa Joe is so smug, but cool, and scares me. He doesn't have 100% final boss energy, but he's so close.

It's been a little bit since Don Callis has been booed so loudly that it almost completely drowns him out.

Takeshita vs Swerve holy shit

Christian and Copeland was what I expected. It was fun. Absolutely hilarious that the ending to the match technically happened during Rampage. The ending itself was also hilarious. I'm still surprised it took this long for someone to use the strategy of just yam-bagging someone until they give up.

The Bullet Club Gold bit was funny as hell. I was really hoping Jay would be like, "I saved your life." -- while being excessively smarmy and smug like always.

Kinda feeling like The Acclaimed need to split up. Idk what it is really but I haven't been feeling Caster lately.

Best Friends vs The Don Callis Family was fun stuff. Kind of funny how Trent's back was bleeding for most of the match, but Knox didn't bother putting gloves on until Kyle's mouth was a crime scene.

Schiavone absolutely loathing that he has to exist anywhere near Callis is amazing. Reminds me of how much Mauro Ranallo hated Tommaso Ciampa back in NXT during Ciampa's no-music heel phase.

I am always here for a Shibata match.

Takeshita is so fucking good. And Rocky is also great.

Stat/Willow v The Spooky Ladies was fun.

The contrast between Statlander and Skye was amusing. Stat let her self be thrown onto thumbtacks, have them shoved in her mouth and then kicked, do a 450 and basically land knee-first onto some chairs. Skye did everything she could to not accidentally land into the thumbtacks.

Also, I'm assuming that Skye bladed after getting hit with the spike. From a theater/presentation standpoint, I feel like if she had bled more-- like if the cut was a little deeper or she took some aspirin or something-- it would have made the impact of the spike more dramatic. But I'm also not going to actually say that a wrestler *should* have bled more. They do enough and all that shit is at their own discretion. I'm not a booking agent or anything.

All in all, fun stuff.

Since @mcrcedesv and I cannot be in Vegas or DoN with everyone tonight, I treated her to a nice surprise date night. 🤭🤭 Did every little thing myself from the actual menu to cooking to desert... whole nine yards! And we have DoN and even NXT Battleground on for us to watch and yes.. at the same time.

Those wrestling - Kick ass and be safe while doing so.
