michael vsauce here, first i gotta explain another system i have in my headcanons. because goodness these guys are very, very diverse! and theres subcategories! my favorite! (everything below is headcanon territory, however I'll be formatting it as if its a fact or sm)

all demons belong to a 1st species, which basically means they have traits from whatever region they're spawned in.

theres Lost Temple demons, Thieve's Den, Playground, and Blackrock.

if you want, in another part i can talk abt how evolution/genes occurs in the first place when theres not really a 'passing down' of genes because i have explanations for that aswell! infact I'll happily explain anything further on request, i loove yapping

a 2nd species is basically a second set of traits mixed with the 1st species, this can be animalistic, object, concept, etc. (for example: wolf, fishing hook, music)

a 2nd species isnt always present, but when it is it can override 1st species traits, seemingly at random with less concern for survivability according to environment.

however, animalistic 2nd species are seen to commonly reflect the region theyre born into, whether this is because matching-animal 2nd species are more common or just that they survive more is unknown.

region genetics (aka 1st species)

lost temple demons tend to have thicker, rougher skin all over, rougher palms/soles, longer eyelashes, etc.

claws: longest of all the regions, demons tend to trim them though, to make modern life things easier. tend to be nonretractable. duller than other regions, in color and appearance. very sturdy, can be used for digging through materials like softer rocks, dirt, etc.

skin: lost temple demons tend to have darker skin when spawned, but many also just tan (grey-en? idk) from the sun. skin colors are random when spawned, but think of it as just being more common to be darker.

diet: omnivores. dried insects or lizards, beans, cacti, etc. seen as cultural foods and are quite common to find.

horns: Lost Temple horns can start to flake if not maintained, they are very sturdy, and are the heaviest out of the regions. they are quite solid, seeing a Lost Temple demon with a broken horn is a rare sight as it tends to be easier for the whole thing to be detached from the skull rather than fracturing. this makes them harder to customize shape-wise.

scutes: tend to line the upper side of the hands and feet, (think like reptiles or bird feet) scutes would also sometimes appear in 'armored' areas, like outside of forearm, shoulder, back of neck, along back, shins, outer thighs, etc.

while 'inside' softer skin areas would not have scutes. like the belly, inside of forearm, upper arm, inner thighs, etc.

scutes are shed periodically, and tend to be a mix or offset of horn + skin color. can be polished, traded or gifted afterward.

temp sensitivity: very temperature resistant, as the desert has an incredibly harsh climate (hot during the day, freezing at night) they have to in order to survive, even with shelter.

they dont tend to sweat very much, if at all, as it conserves water amounts.

Lost temple demons tend to be naturally nocturnal, as to avoid the heat, but have adjusted to being awake during the day due to the development of towns, the lifestyle of other factions, and such.

towns historically developed around rivers and oasises.

Lost Temple demons are generally quite tall

they tend to have a third eyelid, its a thin membrane they can shut it over their eye. this helps be able to see partially during sandstorms or if its windy. it freaks other regions out though.

Playground

Playground demons tend to have thicker skin especially at the palms and soles, they have

claws: Playgrounders tend to have medium sized claws, shorter than Lost temple ones. non-retractable. noticeably curved, very sharp, used for climbing or grappling easily. Playground demons will also file or trim their claws down to improve dexterity. they come in brighter colors.

skin: Playgrounders tend to be dark-midtone but having more colorful hues, (ie. they might be grey but with an hue overlay of another color, usually matching horn color.) smooth in texture.

diet: omnivores, fruits and vegetation are very common food sources, spices and herbs are also very common here, and are used in cooking often. avian meat is the kind thats most commonly consumed, aswell as reptiles. Playgrounders tend to have a wide diet.

playgrounders horns are the most malleable, they are softer and more sustainable to breaking or chipping. broken, cracked, or chipped horns are a common sight in Playground. they are smooth in texture.

Playgrounders tend to be shorter/smaller, however they tend to have longer tails than other factions. and these tend to be prehensile tails.

decorating yourself with colorful items and foliage used to be a sign that you were stronger/a threat, however, now its moreso just self expression and is very common.

very quick, along with being small they tend to be nimble and agile, good at evading something trying to chase them. theyre strong in a way that would make them not great at arm wrestles, but would be at tug of war.

very resistant to the humidity and heat. they do poorly in colder or less humid environments. they have pretty good poison tolerance.

Playgrounders also tend to be naturally nocturnal, but now are more active in the afternoon, especially at dusk. Playgrounders tend to nap often rather than taking long sleeps. theyre also light sleepers.

So. I NEED TO TALK ABOUT Q!QUACKITY RIGHT NOW. 

I’ll try my best to stay in order but my brain goes all over the place. So, It really seems that quackity was confined in water for like 3 months. But I really think some things have happened to him because of how he is behaving. 

He sounds sickly, he seems lost, confused, maybe even a bit scared (we’ll get to that). I am trying to think about if he didn’t want to follow Cucurucho. 

The stuff with Cucurcho. It was making him do some tests of some sorts? It made him go on a treadmill that he was practically begging to not have to do. He seems really physically weak, but it may be something else as well. It made him press buttons on the corresponding color, not sure what that is about. Then it showed him the pictures.

The duck appeared, and he freaked out, and huddled over in the corner. Why? What happened to him to make him so scared of the duck? This is why I think maybe there was a point where he was not in the water. But we need to know more I think.

The final test is interesting. Cucurucho made him paint what he saw on some ink blot images. During this, it handed him a picture of the duck, to which he responded by once again becoming fearful. This is the thing that really interests me about all of this.

And then Quackity made it out. This is where things get weird. It seems the only thing Quackity is able to type is “when is the party” or “what time is it” things like that. Everything else is illegible when he types it. This is fascinating to me. I have seen people theorize he possibly has aphasia, and looking into it I agree. 

I am glad the three (baghera, forever, and bbh) are concerned for his well being. I especially like baghera here. She said “I dont think you should be alone” he said “why” and she responded, “you’ve been alone for a while”. Baghera you’re amazing

Also, he was only speaking in Spanish the whole time, but that could be just because it was a spanish stream. We’ll see.

He burned all of his stuff in lava, and then just… started playing minecraft? (right after hitting a bucket clutch without thinking. how.) He went into a village and just started getting basic resources. Why? And then he just logged out? 

Another thing is the tweets about him from official qsmp accounts have been using a chess piece emoji. This is intentional 100%. 

So overall I just really, really want to know what the fuck happened to this man, and if he really remembers nothing. What did that little duck do to him.

How do you tend to go about writing fanfiction? Like do you have a lot of outline or any other interesting things about your processed you could share?

my process is kinda all over the place, just like my brain haha. what i do to help myself not get lost in all that is having a strict rule where before i start writing teh actual prose, i need to have at least a bulletpoint outline of the major events that need to happen in the story. this helps me know what i'm working towards, instead of being lost and eventually paralyzed when I run out of ideas of how to proceed OR (and that happens way more often than having no ideas) i have TOO MANY ideas and i can't decide where to go.

for my black arms maria fic for example i had a rough outline that looked a little like this: (under cut for spoilers, click here if u want to read it first; warning for body horror and blood and gross things (tho very mild if im honest))

5 chapters, each about a stage of a star CH1: how maria gets to go on the ark, roots of her issues, basically where the seeds are sown for the inevitable explosion in the end, how the aliens come into play CH2: the introduction of shadow and the black arms DNA, maria's loathing, innocent little girl corruption arc, she pushes shadow away VS he is taken away and she wants him back, her mental state starts to crack CH3: how it came to the ark raid: maria hides her mutations, parallels to her relationship with shadow, her mental state corrupting with the mutaions, "bloody nose" by the used, black arms hivemind link: black doom talks to her, superiority inferiority complex: she plans to kill shadow CH4: her alone with her mutations, many years spent plotting, biolizard, how gerald is involved and how it fits into sa2 plot CH5: sa2 rewritten to fit the premise, lots of shadows perspective

(as u see i have mentioned a song; making a playlist also helps me a ton bc i vibe a lot to music and it inspires me a lot! It helps that i naturally always arrange playlists in chronological order of a story...)

after i have somehting like that i can start doing more detailed outlines. i dont have the ones for the early chapters anymore but this is what ch4 looked like (i use colored text to make it stand out next to written paragraphs that i will do right above the notes):

This chapter maria wakes up and realizes shes not dead.  shes in despair, trying to move but she CANT. at least not much. the stress knocking her out for a few months. she can at least crawl closer to the core reactor. spends 7 years just lying there and regenerating > when she finally can get up she frantically looks for info on the ark. and gerald and shadow (After a few months she finally managed to find a rhythm for physical activity in between studying notes and files, and heading to the dark chamber for a new lizard's tail. Her condition improved with more nutrition, but she did feel herself becoming unstable, nose bleeds increased.

[Maria gets visions of black arms as she mutates more and more] she trashes the place Her hivemind link is what makes her grow increasingly craving murder and total destruction. I mean she already does bc of finding out dirty dirty secrets about the ark it just increases to 9000)

(She starts growing a long tail and she despairs when she sees herself in the mirror, looking exactly as she saw in her vision years and years ago, turning into the monster she feared (She plots her ultimate plan. Understanding how the ark works, how chaos energy works. Finishing the eclipse canon. [Thinking about how to get shadow to do what she wants. Knowing he was in cryo shortly after his trauma it would be impossible to reason with him, not immediately at least. Not if it was her. Knowing she herself was deeply fueled by rage, hatred, disappointment and despair…. The same emotions would fuel shadow greatly. She saw what he was capable of, she knew what *she* was capable of. Geralds message would only need slight alterations since her own plans came pretty close (???) Some boffoon that shared their family name was wreaking havok on the planet, trying to turn it into metal. She had to admit it was a more noble plan of destruction than her own. (???) Maybe. Cut? When gerald is interogated by gun on the weapon he made bc they found it, he puts on a show, saying shadow is dangerous and needs to be contained. He is the only one who knows how to, before it is too late. This is how shadow ends up in cryo and why the password is maria. Why would gun use maria as password like cmon. Anyway this is also how he smuggled a small video into shadows pod where when he wakes up he will be introduced to the plan. During his execution he choses his last words carefully, leaving an encoded message for maria when she wakes up. Maria, at first, doesn't get the code. Shes just confused and spends a long while just learning more abt the ark. But ahe watches the video often just to have like. Company? She herself grows more and more angry with everything so when she notices the code and learns abt the plan. Shes on board. Sure. Lets fucking go. ] she studies the ark, she studies geralds notes on shadow, she studies all data on black arms she can get her hands on all while doing that she STILL gets that stupid dream. she still gets visions, especially when reading their language She makes her plans to kill the world. chapter ends with her sending eggman an encoded message that he won’t be able to resist cracking

as u can tell not all of it made it into the chapter but that was just me thinking "aloud" about all the stuff that had to do w the chapters main premise. the original outline was short and vague enough to give me freedom to think but constricted enough to not let me wander off into making up completely random new stuff!

idk if this helps, but this is how i write nowadays and it works well for me :] im finally finishing things instead of abandoning them!

Part II "Just A Night"

**This is a continuation from Part I - Just a day

The day became afternoon, the sky with a mix of soft colors. Blues, pinks, oranges and purples. So clear skies. I was finishing to work on the fences and cutting some bushes to make it more clear. No we had no gardener. I did it all.

I sat on the store steps of the front door, tired and covered in sweat after all these hours working. I drank from the jar of water I had next to me and I poured some over me to cool down. It felt so good but I was soaked wet now. I didn't care. I just sat there, leaned back and rested my elbows on the stone steps and just enjoyed the quietude and I felt hungry and I hoped there was some food that night and not just hard bread and cheese.

Finally I went up stairs and towards my room. My dogs there and they came to me as soon as I opened the door and I played with them for a few. Then I took off my wet shirt, used the wet towel to clean and dry my chest from sweat and dirt and wore the clean new shirt. My only two shirts I owned. So I put this one by the fireplace to dry overnight.

I was starving so ordered my dogs to stay and I went downstairs see if we had supper. I could smell broth and that made me more hungry. I walked into the dinning room and there were my brothers, their wives and father seated on the end side of the table facing the door where I came in and on to the other end my mother her back facing the door. I always sat closer to my mother side, she wanted me to sit there since when I was carried back home from the Monastery years ago.

The server poured some broth on my bowl and I devoured that fast listening from away whatever my brother Augustin was talking to my father and my other brother just replying with "yes", "Agree", "Absolutely" how ignorant and absolutely ridiculous they sounded talking about power.

Then to my surprise there appeared by the door the most delicate server Ive ever seen. White pale skin, soft pink lips, blond locks on each side of her round face with pinky cheeks and when she lifted her sight to pour some wine in our cups her blue eyes shy. Ive never seen her around the castle. My eyes just followed her while she poured the wine on my brothers cup and my brother looked at my realizing I was looking at her and he nodded his head with that disgusting face of what the hell I was thinking of.

I ate what I was given to eat. Fruits and vegetables and pieces of meat from the broth and cheese. My brothers, their wives and kids and my father left while I was still eating. My mother stayed, quietly, looking straight seated on a polite posture like if she was in Versailles and she stayed there while I finished to eat. I wasn't sure why it was always like that, why I always ended up alone eating but it was normal but I hated it but i did not. And my mother always stayed even if she was done with her meal. Why? I do not know I never asked.

When I was done, my mother finally stood without a word and left the room. And I stood and left as well. I went outside towards the outside gates wondering if the tavern girl will come or not. I will only wait a few. I dont have that much of a patience and if she wasn't coming I will just go back inside and find some wine and drink it all.

Just a few moments later I saw her coming from the serpent dark road. I felt a mix of emotions. I just looked at her to approach and she smiled at me when she was closer. Opening her arms and wrapping them around me.

"I never forgot, I am here" he looked up at me and smiled

"I see" I held her with one arm around her back waist and I made us to walk towards the door. Upon opening the door she was surprised to see such a magnificent place and so big. I was surprised she loved the Castle so much when I hated every corner of it. I made her wait on the hallway while I went to the kitchen and grab a bottle of wine and then we went upstairs to my room. She almost made me stop every few steps becasue she was astonished of what she saw.

I opened the door to my room "Dont be afraid of the dogs they are friendly" and we walked in. The dogs obviously came to me and they were around her trying to jump and play with her but she seemed scared. Two huge mastiff dogs and one small girl, it was obvious she was a little scared. I finally made them to stop and they went to back to lay down on the rug by the fireplace.

She sat on the edge of my bed and looked around my room.

"Your admiration surprises me. Its just a big room with thick walls" I said while I pet the dogs and walked towards the end table I had by my bed and grabbed the bottle of wine, opened it and drank from it.

"Is beautiful Lestat" she said and smiled at me

I chuckled and threw myself to the bed, my back resting on the pile of pillows by the wall and I drank more and I looked at her. All I wanted was to be drunk. She came closer slowly like a snake on tall grass, her hands sliding over my legs up to my thighs, her mischievous smile on her red lips, her hair tied up just a few locks falling over her face. I drank again and she took the bottle of wine off my hands and sat on my lap pulling up her dress so it would be nothing but her, her under garments and me.

"I dont want you drunk my Lord" she said accommodating herself more in purpose over me and leaving the bottle of wine on the table next to the bed. I smiled. Between that wine and the one few cups I had while having dinner I was a little tipsy.

"Will do then make me forget where I am at then?" I smirked and held her waist with my hands leaning closer and kissing her chest with a few soft kisses.

"yes I can" she replied holding my head her fingers tangled on my hair. That always make me lose all temper and anger and relaxed me so much.

We kissed, we took off our clothes, we felt each other bodies next to the other, we made love a few times over and over to finally we held each other until we could do no more.

I felt falling asleep laying on that straw mattress, her head resting on my shoulder and me all spread like if I fell onto that mattress. I was done and I didn't want no more.

She talked to me about the wolves. "I am scared you are going up there in the morning, is not just dogs Lestat" she said with her fingers playing with my hair.

ok so its been more than a month since my graphic screen is arrived and bein used almost every day for 6-12 hours its time to do a lil review under the cut

(obligatory warning for longreads my english is a crap and yada yada) my bby boaris (kabanchik) cintiq 16'. (old one from 2020) I bought the tablet for a loot of reasons, Very Reasonable ones and not so reasonable too LMAO. Earned money with blood and sweat (literally💥) ANYWAY. Tablet's size is perfect for my needs, not way too small, not way too big, the screen workspace is the same with my old laptop (give or take few mm) This cintiq isnt from manufactor, its used before tablet from someone else in 'from the assembly line' condition. As soon as tab arrived i immediately ordered a ptotective film to prevent the appearance of The Hole. You what im talking about.

I was afraid that it would be extremely inconvenient for me to work with it and that the purchase would generally be unsuccessful, because before ONCE IN MY LIFE 7 yrs ago i had an experience w cintiq 24' and it wasnt really comfortable then. AND i had always used a regular plain tablet. BUT NOOOPE everything is PERFECT and i love it.

PROS!! - brain loves to see what u are actually drawing. Its easier to control every single move and stroke therefore it drastically buffs your skill. The progress of it development i mean. U have to get used to it. the tablet itself wont give u a 'make my skill insane button' u have to WORK ON IT obviously. (says the one who've been stuck in cps for a month straight OUGH) - it works as another monitor. so u can do whatever u wish using two of them. or u can just buy random tablet screen and use it as a SINGLE monitor lmaooo. -doesnt overheat (my main display overheats noticeably thank god i dont need to place my arm over it). -uses one single thicc cable which divides into three at the end (usb hdmi and power cables) - thin, from 1cm to 1,5cm +-, wheights somewhere 1,5kgs, has small stand legs which gives it ahh +- 30 degrees tilt angle. U can travel with the tablet but it needs pc or laptop to be connected with. -i havent seen its guts but i bet the circuits are...fine... i hope so.. at least if it wont overheat then the circuits wont burn down.. makes sense.. yeah.... -I also didnt notice any problems with drivers or connection for this month. u just turn ur pc on and ready to go.

CONS. - ur neck is bout to die if u gonna work like me cuz its tilt is only 30 degs (u can buy a normal stand tho. or a monitor bracket and stop torturing urself). SHRIMP POSTURE CHEEEECK. - it doesn't have buttons like my tablet had. Its a taste preference honestly. for someone its a pros for me its a cons. EASILY COUNTERS BY it might seem crazy what im bout to say A KEYBOARD. you just need to get used to it. again. - should i even mention the price? ofc its a con. since mine is a former usage one it was a lil cheaper than usually. but I knew what I was buying ((WACOM)) so i aint complaining now. - small really small con: sometimes cps wont react to pen button clicks but ig its even a program problem than tablets (easily counters by pressing space button one time). its really just a biiit annoying and nothing special. It works great all of the time. - THE PEN TIP WEARS OFF WITH FIRST COSMIC VELOCITY. ig its affected by protective film (its matte). counters by TITAN PEN TIP (plus now its a weapon if u are brave enough) -due to its protective matte film there is a small insignificant diffs between two screens but its not really this big. At least between mine displays. Diff btw my old laptop screen colors and tablet is fucking HUGE (lap is a 12 yrs old veteran have some respect🙄) - OK OK OK LAST LITTLE NIGGLE. Since I play shooters like valorant and...cs.. and move my hand powerfully across the table, I HAD to look for *that very specific place* for the tablet so that everything would be perRRRFECT by millimeters (ocd moment)

after many years of searching through Whatsapp to no evail through diffrent groups and chats, I decided to do the deed, and transcribe the events of the dream as much as i remember them.

The Legendary Gay Dream!

I was in one of the TV shows my mom watches (in context only, not a real one) and I was riding a water-ski. The setting was in Greece, but it looked more like a generic European city with a lot of lush green trees and a red brick sidewalk that covered the entire street. I was approaching a large bridge, and jumped off my jet-ski and on the bridge (mid-skiing mind you it was pretty cool). I admired a nice Stop sign I saw for some reason (it was beautiful I guess?), and continued on the path of this wide bridge. As I continued walking I arrived at a dead end, with a shopping center (or a couple of stores, really). I went to the right store first. It had this colorful logo of an Italian restaurant-esque lines, that depicted a cock (picture bellow for the best approximation i found), on a black background. I went to the window, and drooled over the delicious, tempting, straight up godly meats and sausages they were selling. Unfortunately, I was not allowed in (not that they rejected me or something, I just KNEW I was not allowed to go in). after going away sadly, I went to the middle shop, which was some kind of supermarket/grocery store. I saw one of my female friends (which is a REAL one this time and not random context knowledge), step outside of the yellow metal bars in the entrance (you know, those things that tell you where to enter and where to go out? Is it a thing?) and go to me with her groceries. After we talk a little bit [I forgot what it was about :(((((] she goes and enters the meat shop, and im left outside to sulk in my pain.

One of those old victorian style houses thats been painted a fun color, like purple. The only real specifics I would have for the inside would be a japanese style unit bath, one of the nice ones where i can run a bath by pressing a button in the kitchen, a double decker oven in the kitchen, and a walk in closet. but other than that idk I just want a place thats cozy and with plenty of space to invite friends and family over.

i'm going to type from the hip here, so if i misspeak or say something that sounds weird or obviously wrong, it could be a phrasing error so please dont yell at me. but here we go anyway.

so vhs is not y2k. y2k, as an AESTHETIC, is fully CDs and digital files. and not laserdisc either, but bluray vs hddvd. "what about a clear plastic VHS in a funky color" yeah fine they did make lots of Spongebob VHSes but there were a million articles at the time about how the industry was dying. VHS dying is a feature of the era. blockbuster slowly collapsing etc. yeah we all physically owned vhs in our houses through the year 2000 AD, but they were left over from the last decade. the motivation and the core statement of the y2k aesthetic is in fact to move AWAY from vhs into digital. and not to start moving away, but rather to finish moving away, because y2k represents the summation of the "movement to digital" as an aesthetic trend and image of the technological horizon that was swallowing up the world at the time. vhs is not even really "analog" but thats a different convo. y2k is mp3 players. vhs is fully seated in the first half of the 90s, starting to hit its stride about ~1982. the actual introduction or invention of the technology is irrelevant, we're talking about household saturation, the assumption that someone would have something. by about 1997, the feel and the character of american culture was already strongly shifted away from VHS. if i was more motivated i would pull up some sales trends graphs to illustrate my point.

i think what everyone who has been to formal institutional discussion settings vs everyone who hasn't keeps butting heads about is half of us are working off of assumed definitions about the field of aesthetics as a formal study, and half of us are Posting. and that wastes a lot of time with stuff like acknowledging that "we all"¹ had Jurassic Park on a shitty old beat up VHS in the TV hutch in 2003 so TECHNICALLY y2k is still VHS. no it isnt, thats not what we're talking about, thats not the discussion we're having. we're talking about broad themes, cultural movements. it would be fine to have a person in a story set in 2003 be owning or using VHS, but you would have to justify it with the same exceptions from an assumed "norm" that we are all aware of and taking for granted here, like being poor, living in a small town, living in non-USA locations, etc. all of us check some of these boxes, i had ancient technology way into the 21st century (as mentioned) and i just used it alongside the new stuff and still do. i ordered a new battery for my thinkpad t440p YESTERDAY. but it's not relevant except in the specifics of something like, would this character still own The Little Mermaid on VHS in 1999? or is it an anachronism if the story is set in that time? what are we spending from the Credibility Budget to make this creative decision. thats a random example, i havent seen that situation specifically in analog horror.

so if you or i personally did not experience these cultural beats as they happened, that's not a refutation of the boundaries of the aesthetic, it just means we're outliers. the majority of civilians in every era of fashion did not represent what the prevailing or desirable aesthetics of that era were. the flapper, the gibson girl, the mod, the beatnik, the hippie, etc. these are all archetypes that were in their times in the extreme minority, they just came to represent their times and places through the lens of history. at the times they were active, normal well-adjusted people were dressing and actiing much more conservatively and much less futuristically than the fashionable hellions. in 2001 people were NOT dressing like TLC in No Scrubs at high school. we all thought it was cool, and a tiny minority of us dressed like that at the goth club, but y2k as an aesthetic barely existed irl anywhere. it was extremely ephemeral.

my point in the first post is this person was using fully 1970s sci fi aesthetics to tell a story about 1999. and it didnt make any sense, which distracts the viewer from the story you're trying to tell, which means you can't tell your story, which makes your piece of art bad and careless.

to all the people repeating my line about "raised in isolation from your parents": youre not supposed to be isolated from your parents. thats not the ideal state of a child. if you dont have a relationship with your parents where you know at least generally what things were like when they were kids, it means you've never had those discussions with them, which we are supposed to. im not saying thats normal or obligatory, im saying the correct and ideal parent-child relationship involves familiarity, knowledge sharing, and most importantly an inquisitive exchange where you ask them questions and they teach you things. thats the entire point of having children. if they dont teach you things thats fucked up. it constitutes dysfunctional childrearing actually. if your parents suck or they were bad at childrearing or its better for your health if you dont speak to them or interact with them, thats not your fault and you dont need to defend yourself, im just saying it sucks that you dont have that resource in your life because we all fucking need it, badly. if gen z is, as a group, not close enough to their parents to have this kind of exchange, thats bad. in terms of their mental health and attachment. im not making a judgment im just writing here the stuff ive read about child development in books.

i dont have kids, i dont know how hard it is these days to exchange ideas and teach skills to your kids, but i question why anyone would have children for any other reason except bad reasons (obligation, couldnt get an abortion, cultural pressure, etc). and obviously i know LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of people whose parents never taught them shit and dont talk to them about anything that matters, its not unusual. GOOD parenting is whats unusual. it just seems like there is a lot MORE benign neglect at the moment than the amount of neglect, nbenign or otherwise, that i am used to seeing in the general population of parent-child relationships.
