happy birthday to the goat.....!!!! getoo suguruuu!!!
birthdays are a special occasion, but when it’s your fiancé suguru’s birthday, it’s a full-blown event. gifts? top-tier. dinner? already reserved at his favorite restaurant. romance? obviously. however, this year, suguru had one specific request that turned the night into a logistical nightmare.
he wanted to bring satoru.
your ridiculously white, obnoxiously spoiled retriever—who had bright blue eyes and a penchant for stealing your fiancé’s attention whenever possible. "he's a part of the family," suguru had reasoned earlier that day, scratching satoru behind the ears as the dog dramatically collapsed into his lap. "and he loves me."
"he loves inconveniencing me," you muttered, watching satoru flop over with a huff. suguru smirked. "sounds familiar."
and that’s how you ended up at dinner date night with suguru and your 75-pound, attention-seeking furry third wheel sitting at your feet, dressed in a stupid little bow tie suguru had personally picked out. the night started fine. candles, good wine, romantic atmosphere. suguru, as always, looked unfairly good in a dark button-up, sleeves rolled up, hair tied back but with a few strands loose. it should’ve been the perfect evening. should’ve. but satoru had other plans.
phase 1: ultimate betrayal
as soon as your food arrived, you felt it—a large, furry weight leaning against suguru’s chair. you glared.
“satoru.”
the dog stared back. unbothered. unrepentant.
"he just wants love," suguru defended, reaching down to scratch satoru’s chin. satoru had the audacity to wag his tail smugly, tongue lolling out in triumph. you raised a brow.
“he just wants to steal my fiancé.” suguru chuckled, not denying it. "maybe he knows something you don't."
"excuse me?"
"maybe i'm his boyfriend first."
before you could argue, satoru let out a pathetic, theatrical sigh and nudged his massive head onto suguru’s lap. your jaw dropped.
"oh, you manipulative little—”
“he’s just a baby,” suguru cooed, betraying you on his own birthday. satoru barked in agreement.
phase 2: sabotage
you tried to reclaim suguru’s attention several times. each time, satoru outmaneuvered you.
• attempt #1: reaching for suguru’s hand? blocked by satoru forcing his giant head in between. • attempt #2: feeding suguru a bite of your dish? intercepted by satoru suddenly sitting up, bumping the table. • attempt #3: leaning in to whisper something romantic? interrupted by a loud huff as satoru flopped onto his side like he had been personally victimized.
"this is ridiculous," you huffed, crossing your arms. suguru, clearly amused, swirled his wine. “jealous?” you scoffed.
"of my own dog?"
"you sound jealous."
you did. and you hated it. satoru, who absolutely understood everything, let out another smug sigh and laid his head directly on suguru’s lap. “okay,” you muttered, glaring at him. “this means war.”
phase 3: the truce (bribery edition)
your opportunity came with dessert. you had ordered carrot cake. satoru, as a man of sophisticated palate, also loved carrot cake. when the plate arrived, you seized the moment. “satoruuu,” you called sweetly, slicing off a tiny, dog-safe piece. his ears perked up immediately.
“oh, now you’re interested in me?” you snarked. satoru wagged his tail enthusiastically, shameless. you smirked, placing the piece on a napkin and holding it hostage.
“listen, if you agree to chill for the rest of the night and let me have my moment with my fiancé, you get this. deal?”
satoru, brilliant strategist, expert negotiator, pawed your knee in acceptance. "good boy." you handed him the cake, watching as he inhaled it in one bite.
suguru chuckled. “you really just bribed our dog.”
“he started it.”
satoru, apparently satisfied with the transaction, curled up beside your chair instead of suguru’s for the first time that evening. suguru leaned over, pressing a lazy, amused kiss to your temple. "you’re unreal."
“i have to be,” you sighed. “otherwise i’d be single.”
he chuckled, lacing his fingers with yours under the table. satoru, content and full of cake, let out a deep sigh and settled in. peace, at last.

Briella’s Winterfest Baking 17: Wedding Cake
Tumblr media
Sul Sul, Gerbits! You probably clicked on this video thinking that it was going to be a beautiful wedding cake but no. I decided I was going to save money and make my own cake. I honestly didn’t want to share this with you guys. But here it is, my wedding cake, also my first ever cake.
Tumblr media
Sul Sul, Gerbits! Before there are any questions, yes I am in my wedding dress. I don’t know why I wanted to make a cake in a dress, let alone my wedding dress. But hey, let me be me.
Tumblr media
So, today we are going to be making Rosanna Pansino’s Carrot Cake from here new Cookbook “Baking all Year Round.” Getting this book was really exciting because she has helped me understand that I can bake.
Tumblr media
For this recipe, you are going to need:
flour
brown sugar
cinnamon
nutmeg
baking powder
baking soda
Some salt
butter or margarine, whichever you can afford at the time. You could also do what I did, and used half margarine and half vegetable shortening. There is no taste difference in the end.
You are also going to need some eggs
vanilla extract
shredded carrots.
These ingredients are all for the cake itself.
Tumblr media
For the cream cheese frosting, you are going to need
a package of cream cheese
butter or margarine
powdered sugar
salt
vanilla extract.
The recipe that I used called for almond extract as well. However, I just added a little bit more vanilla extract. It tasted really good.
Tumblr media
Ugh.. Past Briella forgot to say to: Preheat your oven to 350. Then, grease two 8-inch round cake pans, and line the bottoms with rounds of parchment paper.
Tumblr media
In a large bowl you are going to mix your dry ingredients. Which consist of flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Tumblr media
In a different medium-sized bowl, you are going to whisk together butter, eggs, and vanilla.
Tumblr media
You are then going to make a whole in your dry flour mixture, this is where you are going to put the egg mixture. Then mix these together until there is no streaks of flour, however, do not over-mix.
Tumblr media
You are going to slowly add your carrots. You don’t want one section of the cake to have more carrots than the others, so make sure to fold it in evenly.
Tumblr media
At this point, you want to divide the cake mixture evenly into the cake pans. What I did was I grabbed a big ice cream scoop and measured that way. That way I knew that both of them were equal.
Tumblr media
You then are going to bake these cakes for about 45 to 55 minutes. If you stick a knife or toothpick into it and it comes out clean then the cakes are done.
Tumblr media
Let the cakes cool in the pan for 15 minutes, after this time is up you are going to turn them out onto wire racks so that they can cool completely.
Tumblr media
The recipe says to level off the top with a cake leveler or a knife.
Present Briella: Welp! I didn’t do that. And the cake still tasted really good.
Tumblr media
While the cakes are cooling, you can make your cream cheese frosting. To make that you are going to need another large bowl. And in that bowl, you are going to beat the cream cheese with an electric mixer for about 1 minute.
Tumblr media
After the cream cheese is smooth, you are going to add the butter until it is well combined with the cream cheese, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Present Brie: REALLY! Why is the drone in my face?
Tumblr media
This step is important! You need to add ALL of the powdered sugar, the recipe calls for 5 cups of powdered sugar. Don’t do what I did and just use 3 cups of powdered sugar because you think it would be less sweet. In order for the frosting not to be runny it needs to have the 5 cups of frosting.
Present Briella: I Love how mom is trying to steal the spotlight, in a non-stealing way. God I love her. She is so extra.
After you add the powdered sugar, you are going to add your vanilla and salt. At this point, the cakes should be cooled enough. However, If they are still warm to the touch, leave them on the counter for a little while.
Tumblr media
Now it is time to decorate. There is no way to tell someone how to decorate a cake, so I am just going to tell you how I did it. I made some of the frosting orange and a little bit of it green. The frosting job that I did was not the best. But the taste of this cake was really good.
Tumblr media
I know that what I am holding is not a carrot cake, or it doesn’t look like one but it really is. I wanted a white and black cake that was a carrot cake. So, I did both.

Questions To Ask Your Wedding Cake Baker
Tumblr media
The sweetest part (literally) of the wedding planning process is choosing your wedding cake! But before you sign the contract, be sure to ask your baker or cake designer all the important questions. We have prepared a list of the top 10 questions to ask during your wedding cake consultation.
1. DOES MY WEDDING DATE WORK WITH YOUR SCHEDULE?
This is the most important interview question to ask a baker. Before you make a visit in person or schedule a tasting, ask if the cake baker has availability on the days leading up to your wedding to prepare your towering dessert. Popular cake vendors often book up fast, so don’t put this wedding planning to-do list item off until the last minute.
2. WHAT ARE MY CAKE FLAVOR AND FILLING CHOICES?
Each cake baker should be able to provide a list of options for flavors and filling. If you have your heart set on a certain type of cake, such as red velvet or carrot cake, this is the time to check if it’s something they can make for you. Request some of your top flavor pairings before your sample tastings so the baker can have them all prepared and ready for you to try.
Tumblr media
3. DO YOU OFFER ORGANIC, VEGAN, GLUTEN-FREE, DAIRY-FREE, AND NUT-FREE OPTIONS?
If you or one of your guests has special dietary restrictions, you’ll need to find a cake baker who can accommodate them. Ask about these options if you need something other than a traditional cake. If your cake does end up containing gluten or nuts, be sure to relay this message to your wedding guests on your dessert signs.
4. DO YOU DESIGN CUSTOM CAKES, OR DO I SELECT FROM SET DESIGNS?
This is a key factor in how to choose your wedding cake. If you don’t have any particular details you want for your cake, it helps to be able to choose from the baker’s selection of set designs. But if you have a particular look or style in mind (or you want it to match your wedding stationery), it’s important to find a baker who will work with your custom concept.
Tumblr media
5. WE’D LIKE TO USE FRESH FLOWERS ON OUR CAKE. CAN YOU WORK WITH OUR FLORIST TO DO SO?
One of the most beautiful ways to enhance your cake is to add fresh flowers. Many bakers will offer this option, but if you want the cake to match perfectly to your bouquet or other floral arrangements, be sure to find out whether they’ll collaborate with your florist. In most cases, the florist will bring the flowers directly to your wedding venue and add them to the cake the morning of the reception.
6. WHAT’S YOUR DELIVERY PROCESS?
This question to ask a cake baker for weddings is critical to the logistics of your big day. Most will offer delivery to local venues for an added fee (so be sure to factor that into your total budget). If that’s an option, it’s wise to take advantage of it since they know the safest way to transport the cake and will be able to get it set up for you at the reception. Coordinate with the venue so the baker knows exactly where to go when they arrive.
7. DO YOU RENT CAKE STANDS, CAKE KNIVES, AND/OR CAKE TOPPERS?
Don’t skip over this question to ask at a wedding cake consultation. If the baker doesn’t provide these items, you’ll want to plan ahead and bring your own to the reception. It would be embarrassing if you had nothing to cut the cake with! Make sure any cake stands you purchase are the correct size to accommodate the cake.
8. CAN WE FREEZE THE TOP TIER? WILL YOU PROVIDE A BOX SO WE CAN SAVE IT?
Are you hoping to enjoy a slice of your wedding cake after the honeymoon or on your first wedding anniversary? This classic wedding tradition actually dates back many centuries to when married couples usually had a child within the first year of being married. The preserved wedding cake could be brought out to celebrate the birth of the child. Find out if your baker provides freezing directions and a box so you too can practice this tradition.
9. HOW DO YOU PRICE YOUR WEDDING CAKES?
If budget is a big factor for you in how to pick a wedding cake baker, you’ll want to prioritize this question. Many bakers price their cakes by the slice, with additional fees for things like specialty fillings, custom designs, cake stand rentals, and delivery to the venue. In addition, some bakers charge separately for the top tier. If you are planning a smaller event or micro wedding, you may opt for a smaller, more decedant cake, that will also save on your total cost. According to a recent Brides.com article, the average wedding cake cost is around $350.
Tumblr media
10. WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY IF WE NEED TO CANCEL OUR ORDER?
What if you need to delay your wedding? Couples planning weddings in late 2020 and early 2021 know all about the complexities of solidifying wedding details during a global pandemic. Will your baker simply move the order out to a new date? Will you incur a rescheduling or cancellation fee to your original order? These are important questions to ask your wedding cake baker regarding cancellations. Some may offer a refund if you cancel far enough in advance, while others may require full payment.

More learning!
=================
Panel 1: "This old couple, Benita and Gonzalo were going back to Earth after visiting their son who worked at a space station. They were from Chile, from a city named 'Puerto Montt' that they encouraged me to visit sometime. I told them my story". Benita says "That 'Roi' girl sounds like a very interesting person! I hope I can meet her someday!'. The narration continues. "Gonzalo was a lawyer and he told me he had also been a local politician some years prior to all this. Benita was a housewift (although years ago she had been a music teacher). Both explained to me what I should expect and do once I arrived on Earth, in greater detail than what Roi had told me".
Panel 2: "Honestly, I only came to realize how incredibly lucky I had been years later while thinking about it. What are the odds of befriending a human couple who were not only willing to let you get into Earth with them but also to pay for your brand new ID? I promised them that I'd return them the money and the favor as soon as I could".
Panel 3: Sher is taking a bath. He says "They taught me what a 'shampoo' and a 'conditioner' were, and I finally understood why when Roi returned she had a very pleasant smell on top of her usual scent."
Panel 4: Both Benita and Sher are singing 'Chiu chiu' together. Benita is playing Sher's guitar. The narration says "Benita not only taught me how to tune my guitar, but also taught me chords and some of her music knowledge. She also said she loved my voice. That felt very nice".
Panel 5: Gonzalo and Sher are at the shuttle diner. Sher says "Hello! I want one carrot cake and one water! Not fizzy, please!". The narration says "Gonzalo, on the other hand, taught me how to buy food. And while in this shuttle I didn't have to pay, he taught me how to do it too".

1. If you were to attend a costume party tonight, what or whom would you go as? Uh…“party”? What’s a “party”?
2. What are your choice of toppings on a hamburger? And do you prefer gas or charcoal grilling? Never saw a gas grilling in my whole life. As for toppings, salad, tomatoes, mayonnaise/ketchup, cheese
3. You are chosen to have lunch with the President. The condition is you only get to ask one question. What do you ask? *think of something, think of something* …
4. It's your first day of vacation, what are you doing? If I’m at home, I would do some chores that work or other things prevented me to do; if I’m on holiday away from home, I would probably take a nap and then go around visiting the place.
5. What is your concession stand must-have at the movies? I haven’t been to movies in ages, but when I was a kid I remember I always bought candies. At home, instead, potato chips or popcorn
6. Which do you dislike most: pop-up ads or spam email? Pop-up ads
7. What do you think Captain Hook's name was before he had a hook for a hand? Captain Hand?
8. Rock, paper or scissors? Scissors
9. How long was it from 'the first date' until the proposal of marriage? How long until the wedding? Four and three, more or less
10. Which is worse, being in a place that is too loud, or too quiet? Definitely a too loud place is worse
11. What is one quality that you really appreciate in a person? Honesty
12. At the good old general store, what particular kind of candy would you expect to be in the big jar at the counter? Liquirizie Senateur tasting violette
13. What is the most distinguishing landmark in your city? The place where I live is not a city and doesn’t even have a landmark, so I’ll say The Lanterna (the Ligthouse) from the city where I was born and grew up.
14. Everyone hears discussions that they consider boring. What topic can put you to sleep quicker than any other? Everything can become boring if told by a boring person
15. How many times did it take you to pass your driver's test? One
16. If you had to have the same topping on your vanilla ice cream for the rest of your life, what topping would you choose? Some chocolate maybe?
17. What food item would need to be removed from the market altogether in order for you to live a healthier, longer life? It depends on the moment and my mood. It could be biscuits or cheese, fried anchovy or cakes
18. You are offered an envelope that you know contains $50. You are then told that you may either keep it or exchange it for another envelope that may contain $500 or may be empty. Do you keep the first envelope, or do you take your chances with the second? I’m not really a brave person, I’ll keep the $50 envelope.
19. If you had to choose, which would you give up: TV, or internet? TV
20. Who is your dream girl or boy from movies/TV? At different moments of my life I’ve had Mr Sheffield (from The Nanny), Fox Mulder (from The X-Files) and Gil Grissom (from CSI)
21. Have you ever met a celebrity? I would say no
22. What kind of lunch box did you have as a kid? It was not the lunchbox to be strange, but its content. I didn’t even have a proper lunchbox, actually, my dad just put strange-for-a-kid-but-healthy food into my bag: my friends had snacks, I had like carrot cake, dried fig stuffed with walnut, boiled chesnut

Seoul Write-Up: Restaurants
The main focus of our time in Seoul was eating good food. Here is a deteailed write-up of the restaurant scene.
Based on the below, if you can only do a few fancy meals, I would recommend Mingles, Eatanic and Onjium, and possibly also Kwonsooksoo if you want to really start to understand Korean food, and then Born & Bred if you want the best of the best Korean beef. And if you want Japanese, Tenjimon is flipping fantastic. And I think unlike some countries where the simple meals and street food are where it’s at, in South Korea, fine dining is a real must if you want to experience Korean cuisine at its best.
Tasting Menu Restaurants
Born & Bred speakeasy- this was an incredible meal. The quality of the meat is incredible throughout, and they serve each piece with enough variation that it never gets boring, and each cut is cooked to perfection. As part of the meal we got their burger, which is perhaps the best burger I have ever had, and we ended the meal with a bowl of pho, which definitely was the best pho I have ever had. The galbi pieces dipped into crab head was also insanely delicious. This is a meal not to be missed, and if you can’t book the speakeasy, eat on one of the higher floors and make sure you get the burger.
Byeokje Galbi the Cheongdam- this is the other beef tasting menu we did. Good, but nowhere near the same level as Born & Bred. The beef is beefier tasting though, which some may prefer.
Mingles- This is really a 3 star meal, dishes featuring French and Italian techniques and inspiration, but made with the best of the best Korean ingredients, and crazy levels of creativity. Top top top.
Onjium- the space is gorgeous, as is the dishware. And the local alcohol pairing is wonderful. The chef is heavily influenced by Buddhist temple food and so some of the dishes were good, others were bland. That being said, it’s a lovely overall experience and gives you a good sense for clean Korean culinary flavors. Get a seat at the chefs counter if you can.
Kwonsooksoo- the food here is excellent, though the dining room space isn’t great. The local alcohol pairing is also great. Highlights include the kimchi cart. Really fantastic food. Book the kitchen tour if you can.
Tenjimon- this is Japanese new-age Kaiseki, with Korean ingredients. It is fantastic. The meal we had here is as good as any such meal in Tokyo. Really delicious and much cheaper than what you would pay in Tokyo for that meal.
Eatanic- Wow, this meal was a highlight of the trip. The space is perhaps the most beautiful I have ever seen. Try to get seated at the chef’s counter. Each dish features a single ingredient and treats it with such dignity and honor. The food was just beyond. This place is easily a 2 or 3 star restaurant and I am sure will get more stars very quickly. Stunning beyond words.
Jungsik- the space of the shared dining room is charming. The meal was very good overall, though some dishes were more successful than others. Some standouts included a first banchan bit of a custard with a delicious herbal green mixture, and the crispy octopus. Then the kimbap was outstanding, and worth it to spring for the all in one, though the shrimp one is also very good. The uni bibimbap was not worth adding as a supplement in my view, not a particularly exciting dish. The ok dom, the red snapper dish, was stunning, definitely the highlight of the meal and one of the best white fish dishes I have had in a long time- that dish could live on the menu of any 3 star restaurant. The Hanwoo dish was nice- the beef was well prepared and the different kimchi bites that came with it were excellent. Dessert was another highlight, both the carrot cake and the Dol hareubang Jeju statue dessert were excellent.
Jueun- the food here is very tasty, and the dining room is very zen, and the images on the screens add a lovely dynamic. But I would definitely go to Eatanic, Kwonsooksoo or Onjium over Jueun.
7th Door- what a disappointment this meal was. First off, the whole concept is meant to revolve around fermentation, but there really isn’t much of it that comes through in the dishes. There were a few bites that were good, like the starting little bowl of congee, the hand roll with caviar and with crab, the mandu in cabbage (the mandu itself was ok, but the veggie broth it was served in was delicious), and the “hotdog” made with abalone and shark fin. But the lobster tail was a bit chewy and there were too many elements on the dish that were confused, the Hanwoo steak course where the larger piece of steak was not cooked properly, it was being served rare, which for that kind of meet with super high fat content isn't the right way to serve it (the chef should go spend some time at Born & Bred to learn how to cook his steak), and a noodle dish that was boring. So overall, not a meal I would recommend.
Solbam- if you lived in Seoul and wanted a European style fine dining meal with an interesting  use of Korean ingredients, and fine wines, then you can consider a meal here. The opening of the meal in the living room is lovely. But if you are coming to Seoul to try Korean food, skip Solbam.
Kojima- terrible sushi, so underwhelming that I was in slight shock that this place could possibly have a good reputation…
Other Restaurants
Gebangsikdang- the soy marinated crab set is friggin delicious. A must if you like crab.
Guemdwaeji Sikdang- the pork neck was the best of the three cuts, and the stew was also good. Worth getting the basil to wrap the pork in. Overall, tasty but not the most exciting
Hwangsaengga Kalguksu- Mandu are whatever, dough not great. Noodles lovely and broth very nice and simple but nourishing. Really delicious
Mugyodong Bugeo-guk- breakfast pollock soup. A very specific taste, worth trying once.
Hyodo fried chicken- good but I doubt the best fried chicken in town, even though everyone says it is. That being said, we didnt have any incredible fried chicken on the whole trip.
Myeongnyang Hotdog- yummy and worth it if you want to try a Korean style hotdog.

A Boxing Day feast
Tumblr media
Tuesday 26 December 2023
My brother is home for two weeks, so on Boxing Day I cooked for 18 humans and two canines, which resulted in one fantastically chaotic dining experience, but so much laughter.
The original plan had been for venison, cockerel, and a mushroom and chestnut wellington, together with roast potatoes, roasted cauliflower, roast carrots, red cabbage, and green cabbage. Followed by my Auntie Jacquie's Christmas pudding (best in the world) and a chocolate mousse cake. We started with pea and mint soup. There was also a cheese board with fresh fruit.
Mostly, the plan was successful. However, a critical shortage of gluten free puff pastry, both in Newmarket and Norwich, resulted in the hasty adaptation of the wellington into a crumble. I was terrified it would be a complete failure. Everybody loved it.
Chestnut and mushroom crumble for six people
This is vegan but if you're serving vegetarians and don't need to worry about not serving milk and meat together, go ahead and add some cheese to the crumble topping.
The base freezes. You can make the crumble topping a day in advance. And then bake it for about 40 minutes from frozen or 20 minutes not-frozen at 180º Celsius.
Chestnut and mushroom base
1 onion, sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
250 grams sliced chestnut mushrooms
150 grams mixed exotic mushrooms, torn into pieces
150 grams chestnuts, crumbled
5 - 6 bricks frozen spinach
A few leaves fresh sage
3 tablespoons fresh breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons dried cranberries
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
Butter or butter substitute and olive oil
Salt and pepper
Melt a tablespoon of butter or substitute in a pan together with a splash of oil and fry the onion until it is soft and glassy. Add the balsamic vinegar and cook until it caramelises. Remove it to a bowl.
In a large frying pan, cook the mushroom until they are golden. Then add some olive oil, the garlic, chestnuts, the sage, and some salt. Cook until the garlic has lost its smell. Remove to the bowl with the onions.
Defrost the spinach with some fat and a little salt and pepper and then add it to the other ingredients, mixing well. Then stir through the breadcrumbs and cranberries. Now make the gravy.
Gravy
You will need both gravy to mix into the base and to serve with your roast. I think about 750 millilitres for six people.
1 onion, finely sliced
2 tablespoons fat (butter, oil, or an equivalent)
1 1/2 tablespoons plain flour
50 millilitres sherry, brandy, port, or similar
750 millilitres vegetable stock
2 tablespoons redcurrant jelly
Salt
Fry the onion in the fat until it very soft and brown. This will take quite some time. Be patient. Sprinkle it with a teaspoon of salt.
Sprinkle over the flour and mix very well until it begins to smell nutty.
Add the sherry, or whatever you are using, and mix very hard and thoroughly to help prevent lumps.
Gradually stir in the stock, stirring hard to prevent lumps.
Bring the gravy to a boil and then reduce it to a simmer for about 20 minutes so that it was thicken and the flavour can develop. Whisk in the redcurrant jelly and test for seasoning. Adjust as necessary.
You will need about 250 millilitres of the gravy to mix into the base of the crumble. Reserve the rest for pouring over dinner.
Crumble topping
90 grams plain flour
90 grams vegan butter (I used a mixture of Trex and Flora plant butter)
30 grams ground almonds
30 grams chopped mixed nuts
2 tablespoons dried cranberries
Rub the butter into the plain and almonds until it resembles breadcrumbs. Use a knife to cut in the chopped nuts and dried cranberries.
Assembly
I split the base mixture, loosened with about 200 millilitres gravy, between two foil takeaway containers measuring roughly 20 by 10 centimetres. It made it easier for serving. I pressed the crumble mixture onto the top. Bake for about 20 minutes at 180º Celsius.

well hi there, it's your srs!! I'm so excited to talk about music and things w/ you the premise of this event is just very cool
(that bread looks delicious btw you should totally share)
what song(s) have you had on repeat recently??
-🕺
Hi there!!! 🕺 is such a silly signoff, I like it :D I'm excited to talk with you as well!!
AAAA, thank you very much!! Sending you virtual bread right now 🍞🍞🍞 :D You've actually reminded me that I was actually gonna make carrot cake/bread (the recipe says it's bread and you put in a bread maker, but it's literally cake, I don't trust it) sometime later today, so thank you for that :P
As for songs on repeat, I "discovered" (decided to listen to more than one song I didn't listen to often of) Rammstein like 2-3 days ago and have since been listening to them on repeat for hours on end, LMAO. I have. 96 scrobbles of them right now, mostly just their album Reise, Reise. My favorite songs of theirs are currently Moskau and Amerika :))
Other than that and Ephoro's Of Grinding and Thriving (which is kind of niche, sldkfskl, it's about a minecraft YouTuber :P), I don't think I have any other songs actively on repeat, but some of my favorite bands are Metallica, Exodus, Children of Bodom, the Ramones, the Dead Kennedys, Mayhem, Nirvana, and Judas Priest—kind of just throwing bands that come to the top of my head, haha
What about you? Do you have any "perfect" albums? Who are your favorite bands?

HEYA FOLKS! Earlier I realized there's only 7 more recipes for this season and with aiming for about 1 dish every week-ish I’m gonna need more, so if you have any good de-fictionalized recipes, feel free to send them my way! Now- Kick ya legs up on the back porch cus today were gonna be baking some badger-patented and badger-approved carrot cakes from the Redwall Cookbook!
(If you’d like to follow along, you will find the original recipe under the cut!)-
MY NAMES CROSS NOW LETS COOK LIKE ANIMALS
SO, “what goes in to a Brockhall Badger Carrot Cake?” YOU MIGHT ASK
1 Small potato, mashed
3 Eggs, beaten
1 Medium onion
3 Medium carrots
Fresh breadcrumbs
Fresh parsley
Salt
Pepper
Vegetable oil
You’ll want some sort of kitchen scale also, as the onion ‘n carrot are measured by weight.
For a recipe that uses breacrumbs, I’d strongly recommend leaving a slice of bread out the night before you cook, and then crumbling it by hand. You can use storebought but they have the texture and flavor of woodchips. A tad fucky wucky. In most contexts the breadcrumbs serve as a binder so you want it so have space to absorb the moisture in the food when you’re cooking!
AND, “what do Brockhall Badger Carrot Cakes taste like?” YOU MIGHT ASK Well! Kinda like latkes! Somewhat! (The ‘cake’ in ‘carrot cake’ must've been a shortening of pancake?)
Innards are tender, sorta fluffy
Carrots contribute a really nice crispy quality to the tops and bottoms of each
Like a less-oily more meaty-tasting latke
Speaking of, it somehow. Somehow. Tastes like meat. I don’t know. Its excellent.
I served it with a side of roasted garlic hummus and would 10/10 do it again, it adds a breezy quality to the otherwise stocky meal
Hard to think of a drink that'd pair well. I think it'd have to be some seltzer
I made a platter of these for a lunch-guest, hence the fancy dish, and in her words “Thats a good whatever it is”. Glowing 3/3 stars Michelin-Man your ass is mine
. Used carrot tops for plating . Added a dash of cayenne pepper dust to last cake while it was on the pan (would do this for every cake in the future)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
However; I dunno if I’d make these in the future!
You will need another set of hands to help you prep all the foodstuffs!! Which isn’t bad! But it is a factor. Theres simply not enough areas to multitask as one person during the prep stage. And the serving as is isn’t filling enough for it to stand on its own without some adjustments.
It’d fit in splendid at potlucks or holiday dinners, where theres both either people to help or other dishes (so you can make a smaller portion) to focus on, 6/10, with 1 being food that makes one physically sick and 10 being food that gives one a lust for life again.
Grating is what they make kindergartners do in hell. I spent 20 minutes trying to think of wordplay that used grating (to mean annoyance) and I give up.
🐁 ORIGINAL RESIPPY TEXT BELOW 🐁
Brockhall Badger Carrot Cake:
1 small potato, cooked and mashed (1/4 cup)
3 medium carrots (6 ounces), peeled and grated
1 medium onion (6 ounces), peeled and grated
½ cup fresh breadcrumbs
2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
3 eggs, beaten
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Method:
Preheat the oven to 225° F. Place the potato in a bowl and mix in the carrot, onion, breadcrumbs and parsley.
Beat in the eggs and season well with salt and pepper.
Heat a little of the oil in a nonstick frying pan over medium heat and drop tablespoons of the batter into the pan. Cook until the undersides of the cakes are golden brown, turn them over and cook the other side, 3 to 4 minutes per side.
Transfer the cooked cakes to a paper towel-lined plate and keep warm in the oven. Continue with the remaining batter, adding oil to the pan as needed.

genshin men cooking abilities
rating and describing genshin men cooking abilities because some of them are househusband materials
Househusband! Kaeya, Zhongli, Childe, Diluc (seperate) X GN!reader
pure fluff & crack (and few cursing!)
a/n : CREDITS TO MIKA @mikachuchu FOR HELPING ME WITH THIS WIJDYEHDHS BARK,, i have no bonus for zhongli’s part since i’m very sleepy when i wrote it so i hope you enjoyed this for now!
Tumblr media
— kaeya cooking stats
taste : ★★★★☆
it’s not bad nor that special. The taste of his cooking does feel like the taste of homecook food; your parents usually cook and honestly? It’s actually quiet heartwarming, that he could make a taste of food like the warm of home. it just very tasty and comforting. it’s his special cooking trait!
lunchboxes : ★★★★★
he decorates it as if his life depends on it. No because the lunchboxes he prepared for you every single fucking day either look fancy or straight up adorable. Cause once, you have a bento looking teddy, who wears an seaweed-eyepatch on their face in your luncbox and with a sketch-note of your husband and you in it. “may the eyepatch of the teddy bento i make bless your day. See you soon at night, have a great time in work!” — sincerely, kaeya
mess : ★★★★☆
no cause mf would mess the whole kitchen and clean it for like 5 second or something. But kaeya messing up the kitchen doesn’t feel unfamiliar at all if i’m being honest, so…if he doesn’t make any mess at all, you should questioned him right away. Cause if he doesn’t make any mess then bitch, that’s not your husband, get out from the house immediately.
(bonus) kaeya’s bragging rights : ★★★★★
he has the rights to brag around about his bento to the mothers all over monstadt. No cause if there’s a bento decoration competition, watch kaeya win. He’s very skillful in knives so watch him slain all over the carrots into a heart shaped in 2 minute. he usually post his bento and himself wearing a pink apron at his social media’s and caption the post like “(\’ w ‘/) making another bento’s for my sweetheart <3”. But generally speaking, he really has the rights to brag all along
— diluc cooking stats
taste : ★★★★★
if kaeya’s dish taste like those homecooking food, then diluc’s food taste were like those family-restaurant foods. It’s very tasty indeed..but usually, it took him a while to make all of it so make sure to give him some-time since he probably needs to work on some fresh meat/vegetables just for you.
lunchboxes : ★★★★☆
Diluc’s lunchbox aren’t that special if i’m being honest here. But it was full of love…he always make you the most fresh-made and most warmth one. He’ll fill in some pretty letters on your lunchbox while the aroma of his cookings stunt your nose.
mess, chaos : ★★★★★
so quick recap, he accidentally broke the pan you just bought because he though it was ‘anti-crack’. He kinda doesn’t know how to crack an egg correctly somehow….? So uh expect some of the egg skin on your floor every single fucking day, waiting to be cleaned by your husband. usually though? He cleans when the dishes has been finished, he thinks it’ll be more effective. Truth to be told, that’s an explainable reason yet a stupid choice.
(bonus!) baking skill : ★★★★★
He’s the one who make your marriage anniversary cake, daily serving of cookies, random strawberry cake, and chocolate brownies with sprinkles of your favorite toppings. Yes diluc has always spend his time in the house experimenting with baking so the mess is usually just pure chaos.he’ll only make all of his bakings for you to try though, not for the others. So if there’s any guest (especially kaeya) wanting to try his cakes then…you’ll better be prepared to get some backlash from irritated diluc.
— childe cooking stats
taste : ★★★★★
ever since your relationship start, ajax has always cooked for you. And yes, the taste of his delicacies are amazing, even better than your cooking’s. Usually though, when you just came home from a business trip, ajax always put more energy or love onto his cooking. So once it’s ready, it could give you an upmost sincerity.
lunchboxes : ★★★★★(★)
no comment but his lunchboxes are so pretty and fully decorated. He always put so much effort onto it, you can’t help but think of how sweet it is to spoiled a 5 year marriage partner. He always put many extras! cookies or waffles, short letters, and fruits! Fruits he cutted for you are usually meant to be a relaxation after a long day shift, although he never really expect you to finish all of it. (The first time he knew you finished all of the food he brought, he just clinge onto you for the whole weekend, he feel his effort to make you happy was repay
mess : ★★★☆☆
the one who almost doesn’t mess around while cooking. If diluc broke a pan and kaeya has an usual distinguish mess, then this mf mess are just ordinarily confusing. He usually make some mess while making your food, spilling the oil or forget to wash some of the vegetables (as he panics and ran to the dishwasher while realizing that the food might be burnt by now).
(bonus) anniversary cooking : ★★★★★
When your marriage anniversame come, expect him to work overnight at the kitchen; as you smell the seducing aromas of his cooks. No cause he probably did so much things for you that he forgot what’s the actual day and start to sleep at random place and that’s why you already prepared something unexpected to him. Yes, you brought him a gift and you make him your favorite dessert. He doesn’t really expect that you’ll be working for his sake too, but couple should have a fair share of works, no? And maybe..that’s the simple reason why anniversary has always been special to both of you.
— zhongli cooking stats
taste : ★★★★★
zhongli is an amazing cook! And as a househusband he is, he always cook as both a hobby and a job. And because he mainly cook liyue’s special delicacy..you’ve always found yourself to be struck with a sharp aroma of jueyun chili’s or herbals. Yes you found the aroma to be very…interesting, so everytime zhongli cooks everytime you found yourself to be more fond of his specialty.
lunchboxes : ★★★★☆
always pack you with a very traditional lunch that you got confused over time. The smell is sometimes very authentic and it usually makes your office smells like the food you bought for about 4 hours. He’ll also give you letters and many more traditional snacks! He’ll always make sure you’re tummy was filled with delicious and nutritious foods
mess : ★★★★☆
zhongli couldn’t fucking cook at the slightest before you both got married. But because of the help he got; from a generous adventurer he found at town, so he decided to learn more about cooking till this day! So yeah..just expect him to messed around for a bit

Thank you my love <3
Ships:
Steddie Obviously
Stobin FRIENDSHIP
Fruity Four Friendship/ Steve Harrington and The Party
Jopper
Lumax
Honorable mention: The friendship between Murray and Joyce *chefs kiss*
Songs:
Chiquitita - ABBA
Sunny - Boney M
Take On Me (Symphonic Version) - Aha
Say You Love Me - Fleetwood Mac
Hammer To Fall - Queen
Accessories:
Claddagh Ring from my late grandmother
Nose Ring that looks like this
Necklace, again from my late grandmother, that looks like this
This pride anklet
Clip on earrings, mostly from Claire's, these or these in particular
Dream Vacations: (doing this one in black so it's more visible)
Ireland or England. I am actually planning a trip to Ireland, England. and Scotland so I'm definitely made this the top of my list.
The Island of Tonga. This one is tricky because it's not a very feasible dream tbh. Tonga is very far from me but also this is a very environmentally selfish trip. The reason I want to go is because that is where Humpback Whales tend to migrate. I love whales and I would love to see them in the place where they are happiest and free.
Disney. I went when I was little and now I have 3 young nieces and I want to go with them because the magic of it would still exist for them and thus make it more magical for me.
The West Coast. For those that don't know, I am from Pennsylvania and the furthest west I have been is Wisconsin. I wanna see the other half the country on a big road trip.
Maine. I have spent about a week in Maine and it was my favorite place, to the point that I eventually want to move there. I wanna spend as much time as possible there.
Fics:
If you hold me without hurting me (you'll be the first who ever did) by charlies_ginger This one ripped me apart and is my NUMBER ONE favorite thing I've been reading lately.
2. Where the 20 Chain Links Lead by agentM40
Clearly I like to see Steve feeling insecure about his intelligence. This is my favorite trope right now and so far this one has ticked all the right box.
3. exeunt ; enter stage by stardustcoral
Vecna'd Steve is always a goldmine of angst and this one really focuses on the idea of Steve believing that he's hated by everyone before he can figure out that it's Vecna. A must read.
4. with no cross to bear (these words just come out) by hitlikehammers
Protective Steve is so incredible because that is his wheelhouse and he loves to show his love by protecting others HOWEVER protective Eddie is my jam. Eddie who will put everyone in their place and clear a path for his love is just simply too sweet and I adore it.
5. At Below Zero by StrangerSteddie
I am a whump girl through and through so give me all the Steve whump if you wanna see me happy. Truly if anyone ever wants to send me whump recommendations I'll read every single one. This is a prime example of well written whump.
Food I Don't Have Often:
Salmon, ironic because I am having it for dinner tonight
Oxtail. My mom made it once and it was soft and rich and so fucking delicious.
I call them Beef Rollatinis, it's been the birthday meal for the past few years. It's skirt steak rolled up with bell peppers, onions, and carrots with a balsamic glaze. It's the best.
Kentucky Butter Cake. It's so yummy and a pain in the ass to make.
Low Country Boil. It's a big pot of seafood all boiled together. We usually do clams, muscles, and shrimp, and then add in sausage, potatoes, and corn on the cob. It's expensive and kind of work heavy but it's so gooood.
Comfort Films:
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (Mamma Mia 2) WHEN CHER CAME OUT I SOBBED AND SCREAMED
Night At The Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian. I fucking love every NATM movie but this one in particular is the best fucking one. I am a history nerd and this one just settles so nicely in my soul.
The Wizard of Oz. Surprise! Me making Steve love Wizard of Oz is a reflection of it being one of my favorite movies from when I was little.
The Muppets Christmas Carol. IN THIS FAMILY WE LOVE THIS MOVIE. Michael Caine ate. By far the best Christmas movie ever written and nothing compares. I've watched it every year since I was 8.
Life is Beautiful. This movie comforts me but it also hurts me more than any other movie. It's tragic and painful yet goofy and loving and it makes me swoon every time but I have to insist that you watch it in the original Italian as Roberto Benigni intended.
Thank you so much love, this was a lot of fun!!!!

Omg you make tteokbokki from scratch so home?? 🥺 how?!? Is it an affordable meal to make? Do you have to go to a specialty grocer for the rice cakes? If so i would love to know what else you generally buy there and how you budget if you are comfortable sharing!! Thank you and have a nice night!
I do!! I buy it at hmart when in Seattle, and at the local Asian grocery when I'm at home. They aren't too expensive, so I don't bother budgeting for it.. a big bag will provide 2-3 meals for me and my boyfriend and it is around $4-$5. Usually I add green onion and whatever other veggies I have, usually cabbage, carrot, potato or broccoli. We tend to mix it with a Korean ramyun noodle for the authentic Korean taste of the flavor packet, usually Samyang or bibimen noodles. The cool thing about rabokki is that you can add pretty much anything to it and it's delicious, we have made them "cheeseburger" style based on a YouTube recipe I saw, and used impossible meat, onion, and topped with shredded lettuce. It's so good omg... But usually I try to have it like a Korean style one with gochugaru and a balance of sweet/spicy/sour flavors. I like to have rice cakes with noodles and vegetables and rice Soo many carbs together is so comfy and warm. Oh I also add kimchi as well!! So good... Hope this helps!!
