I’m about to write this year’s “State of Design” article, and I’m interested on your feedback of The Brothers’ War. What did you like? What did you not like? Tell me all your thoughts.

Archmage, might I trouble you for a minute?

My research treatise on Mishra, Tamer of Mak Fawa has hit a bit of a snag and Master Malzra has been no great help, as I'm sure you can imagine. Already, I have incorporated the major players of Mishra's side of The War, as well as many of their most famous inventions, schematics, and exploits (per Bin Kroog's The Antiquities War). However, I still find myself lacking that extra umph when it comes time to report on my findings. To what areas of study would you recommend I turn my investigations? Deeper cuts would be much appreciated. Additional themes I have begun incorporating are forced combats, reanimation, and powerstones. Anachronistic elements are discouraged, lest my peers in brackets 1 and 2 disqualify my research.

Ah yes, Master Malzra can get... Distracted, when it comes to this area of study.

My first question pertaining your treatise would be how strictly your research mirror the historic reality. For an example...

While it is indubitable that Mishra sailed to Argoth and established a foothold on the island to further his campaign, there is little documentation on what kind of ship he boarded to do so. It was almost assuredly not on anything resembling a galleon. Yet the design of those resonate in some ways with the Tamer's sensibilities, repurposing the ship on land into a fortress, and thus even if the voyage left it on the verge of collapse.

Similarly, while the work on this Familiar is uncredited, it is possible that it's creation was at the hands of Ashnod, some of her trademark work with necro-artifice comes through in this efficient design.

As far as impactful artifacts from the time, I assume you're already pretty well-equipped with the war machines of Mishra's design (or that he claimed from Phyrexia.) Some of the more powerful artifacts of the time, Monoliths for example, are also infamous for their resonance with others amplifying their power, which I'm led to believe research brackets 1 and 2 do not approve of. And some of the self-sufficient ones likely didn't slip your attention, like the Thran's Dynamo.

Of course, the Gixians' influence cannot be understated, and they worked more closely with Mishra than with his brother, claiming whatever Thran artifacts he unearthed and they wished for for greater power.

Even back then, they preached the same mechanical scriptures as they do now across planes. They're dangerous, but they might be worth including in your research for additional context.

If you want to demonstrate forced combat during the period, these could do the trick. This interpretation of the Showdown is definitely not fitting the time period, but I do not think anyone could argue the final battle between Mishra and his brother did not qualify as a Spectacular Showdown, between Gix's involvement and... Well, you know. It is on occasion an effective way to end wars, though one can only wish for lesser consequences.

Today's Date is May 2nd, 2024 and today's card is Arcee, Sharpshooter//Arcee, Acrobatic Coupe!

[ID; (Arcee, Sharpshooter) This card depicts a pink and white feminine robot [autobot] named Arcee. She has long white legs with pink kneecaps and pink feet with grey ankles. Where her groin would be there's a pink arrow angular piece of metal (codpiece? idk if that's right?) She has a white boxy waist with a piece jutting out that include some grey ridged cylinder in the front, and a boxy pink chest attached with no breasts. She has spherical pink shoulders with white upper arms and pink forearms with white hands attached. On her back is an almost triangular set of wings? possibly? (they don't look very winged but that's the closest comparison that sit vertically aligned to her back. Her head is white with a dorky lookin white helmet/maybe hair?

She is mid leap into the air shooting lasers from her blaster [right hand] at a deep blue and black robot with red eyes and a bigger, chunkier blaster. In her left hand she's holding what appears to be a smoking energy sword. In the background there's a modern brown building with some tinted looking windows and lots of pink laser fire around. Next to the brown building There's a murky green building with tinted blue windows with a white border on each. In some parts of the background you can see smoke likely caused by the laser fire.

She is a White and Red Legendary Artifact Creature that cost 1 uncolored mana, 1 White mana, and 1 Red mana. Her subtype is Robot and she is a mythic rare.

Her rules text reads "More Than Meets The Eye 1 Red 1 White (You may cast this card converted for 1 Red 1 White)

Arcee's Strength is 2 and her Toughness is also 2.

ID; (Arcee, Acrobatic Coupe) This card depicts a pink and white slim car with two doors and no ceiling. In front of the driver's and passenger seats there's a window to offer some protection from the elements. On the very tip of the car there's a small, dark grey vent possibly for decoration. The doors of the car are dark grey and the wheels are black. This car is, once again, leaping high into the air above the road. Below it you can see a yellow pickup truck parked on the side of the road. Opposite to the truck there is a light grey sidewalk, and two buildings. One is the same light brown with tinted windows as before, the other is light grey with blue windows, interestingly different to the building in its place on the previous image.

Shes a Legendary Artifact with the Vehicle subtype.

Her rules text reads "Living metal (As long as it's your turn, this Vehicle is also a creature.)

Whenever you cast a spell that targets one or more creatures or Vehicles you own, put that many +1/+1 counters on Arcee. Convert Arcee.

You grow up with them you raise them or they raised you you both know how unforgiving the world is to both of you? You would die for them but will hate them for doing the same and yet none of you would regret it and both of you know it. They could be the person you loath the most and miss the most cause you still remember how they sneaked a candy into your hands. You can sever the tie but you can never look away at what you've lost, at whom you've lost because fate doesn't allow you to be together, eating dinners in quiet peace, if only there's another life, another time, where i can make you another plate of pancakes i would im sorry im sorry im sorry —
