hey guys who wants more unsolicited opinions abt things no one cares abt? ok great So:

theres this movie adaptation of a book called uglies & ive seen some arguments abt how it was done, especially considering the book was a criticism of the whole hollywood scene & beauty standards

for those blissfully unaware, its a teen dystopia where beauty standards have become so extreme that humanity is separated into "pretties" & "uglies." to become a pretty, you get a plastic surgery when you turn 16 & then you can rejoin society with the other pretties, but by default youre an ugly

some ppl say the conventionally attractive actors playing the "uglies" is the point, bc thats how absurd the beauty standards are! but i think that argument loses some of its basis when the pretties are hardly different, they essentially just have makeup & a beauty filter. if that really was the point (& not just hollywood being afraid of average ppl), the pretties shouldve looked more extreme, uncanny, really pushed to the limits!

apparently the protag finds an old picture of a model from our time, & remarks abt them being ugly. which. shouldnt be evidence for the conventionally attractive actors argument, if anything it rlly only supports how unrealistic their worlds standards are. in the book, characters are described in human ways; they have flaws, theyre just regular people. having the movie version use only conventional actors takes away from that & actually just reinforces the very criticism the book was abt!!

when you see these "uglies" on screen you shouldnt be thinking "oh theyre not ugly, bc theyre already attractive!" you should be thinking "oh theyre not ugly, theyre literally normal ppl."

i think theres more to be done with the idea if it was only handled better. what abt waking up post-op & not even recognizing yourself in the mirror? what abt the loss of individuality, struggling to pick out even your closest loved ones in a crowd? the story doesnt actually do much to make becoming Pretty undesirable to the characters until they learn theyre all being lobotomized & brainwashed in the process, but even then, they still get to live kind of awesome lives? they dont have any responsibilities & they just party 24/7 while the government funds them

we, as the audience get to recognized how messed up it is, but theres nothing to influence the characters to doubt the world they live in until they get deep into behind the scenes stuff. ik part of dystopian stories is that societies are having info kept from them for the sake of control but there doesnt seem to be any downsides to being a pretty, From the perspective of the characters, before learning The Truth, so theres nothing to make them rebel or even seek out more info to begin with!!!

Ok second half of this; this is just like. non-students who i Actually have thought about HJBAFV not at all a comprehensive list. ok lets start this off with Aizawa. I think....... hes another one who's rlly unlabelled, doesnt super care to think it through and define it, but calls himself gay bc his interest in women is very, very rare and it's just way easier to say than explain all that. Definitely do buy into the idea that he had a crush on Oboro in hs but i do NOT buy into the easermic agenda sorry. Definitely not someone who goes looking for dates, but doesn't say no if someone asks him and hes interested (also im not gonna give her a whole section but i saw a hc a while back that the Ms. Joke stuff is literally that shes a lesbian and hes gay and shes fucking with him and i love that so much i just wanted to put it out there)

on the topic of the erasermic agenda: Hizashi's pan and knew it before HS, had a sudden & intense crush on Aizawa for the first month they knew each other and then immediately got over it in favor of a similar sudden, intense, and then immediately fading crush on Midnight. Hizashi and Aizawa r just rlly good friends imo; maybe they messed around for a bit in their twenties but it never went anywhere serious. He dates around a lot, not even necessarily to settle down just to have some fun

Midnight is aro/ace but does get in qprs & gravitates towards women wrt that. Most people dont read vigilantes but theres a woman in that, Kazuho, who i imagine she's been in a long-term qpr with; her relationship with aizawa and hizashi leans a little more towards a qpr than a normal friendship, too, but it's not rlly defined that way

All Might is married to justice queer but v much not interested in relationships. He and that one guy from the first movie are ABSOLUTELY exes and i won't hear otherwise; it's the only relationship he's ever had, and they broke up bc he had to go back to japan. He was heartbroken but did eventually get over him; his lack of romance afterwards is from genuine disinterest and not being hung up on his past. I can see him finding someone else in his later years, after he's retired. Definitely feels like he's not worthy of it tho

Hawks is bi but unfortunately didn't get to figure that out until like Now in the timeline...... if youll let my dabihawks history shine through i think dabi was the reason JHBASFGJHB he was basically brainwashed by the commission to become a hero so he didnt have time to Figure That Shit Out; he knew he was into women bc that was easy & what the commission expected from him but then he started this undercover assignment and met dabi and realized Oh...... Fuck. Hawks is hard tbh, bc i think between the control that the commission has over him and his own convictions as a hero he doesn't pursue any romance (tho he does get crushes or find people attractive) and most of his flings are done to keep up his prettyboy act, not out of genuine interest in being a fuckboy. Can't imagine him having a relationship until well after canon but I do see him being interested eventually

Onto the villains, Shigaraki is unlabelled but probably would call himself queer if asked. Definitely admires women more but isn't very interested in romance; AFO actively encourages him to pursue the things interested in so imo if he were he'd talk abt it more lmfao. I kinda see him as demi as well, not the type to fall immediately but requiring a friendship beforehand; tho unlike Bakugo as i said in my last post I dont think it happens suddenly but rather slowly. Y'all know im a big fan of shigaraki being absolutely whipped for his s/o so i do thing hes a big piner, tho he's also pretty bold and unashamed of his affections. I'm a big fan of him falling for a member of the league or a civilian; definitely can't see him falling for a hero unless the hero was already halfway to turning sides already. I think he's also attracted to intelligence and someone who pushes him to think more abt his ideology...... maybe im just projecting at this point JSHDFBVAJKSHD but my point is that the gender of his partner is definitely the least of what he considers/notices

Dabi is bi and, here's my bold take, demisexual; not interested in sex unless its with someone he loves. Absolutely doesn't even think abt romance for most of the years where he's on his own. He's got revenge to plan. By the time he joins the league that hasn't changed much, and he's demi so he's not interested in sleeping around, plus he rlly denies any attachment to people at all. As I said in that other ask tho I do rlly like the idea of him with Magne, so I think they have a fling for a bit before her death :( it's one of the things that leads him to isolate himself further, unfortunately, even from Jin and the other League members with whom his relationships aren't romantic. I can see him dating someone post-canon bc i think hes gonna be redeemed lol. It could be someone he knew before but they probably didnt date again bc he was v guarded; i think magne was rlly the only person he dated

Magne is pan and heres the kicker: I think shes t4t, which led to a little moment just before she and dabi got together where he was like "she wouldnt be into me :/" but she was into him anyway so all was good. She got around in her circles, mostly casual stuff tho she yearned for something more serious.

Spinner's bi & trends towards women but does occasionally get things for men and they're almost always intense. He thought he was straight for a while even once he joined the league and then suddenly got a crush on Shigaraki (around the time of MVA) and realized otherwise LMFAO he's definitely a hopeless romantic type, the whole mutant prejudice thing makes it rlly hard for him and i can see him being rlly happy with another mutant-type; i feel like as he matures he starts to gravitate towards them

Toga is canonically pan to my understanding, iirc her interest in Uraraka and Deku is the same (and romantic) in canon tho i might be wrong. Poor girl just needs therapy. I like the idea of the two of them becoming her friends over her being involved with them but i totally can get behind her having a thing with Uraraka (and maybe Tsu) at some point post-canon (presuming she gets redeemed), tho I think a qpr between the two/three of them would be longer lasting. And again presuming she gets therapy i can see her settling down with someone, gender irrelevant

Jin is unlabelled bc he hasn't much thought abt it, definitely had a thing for dabi and for hawks which does make me sad on both counts. I think he likes women slightly more abstractly/aesthetically and gets crushes more on men,. The dabi thing fades as they get closer and start to view each other as brothers. In his later years he doesn't rlly care about romance, I think he enjoys the experience of crushing but doesnt like dating people; his found family in the League is far more important to him. But i can see him falling head-over-heels for someone quite suddenly and having a bit of a whirlwind romance. Also someone for whom gender isn't much of a factor

Mr Compress is also queer and also hasn't rlly thought abt it. Definitely leans more towards women; he's like 30 but i like to think he also goes for older partners, 10 or 15 years his senior KJBADSJFHB idk he just has that Vibe with the way he calls himself an old man etc. A lot of the league i cant see sleeping or dating around much, i feel like they prioritize each other, but I do think mr compress gets around more than the others. i can see him having a bit of a fuckbuddy who he catches feelings for

Kurogiri is fun; as Oboro I do think Aizawa's crush was reciprocated, tho he wasn't around long enough for them to act on it :( he's bi, tho kurogiri isn't supposed to have personal interests. I like to imagine the brainwashing isnt as good as AFO wants it to be tho so I like the idea of him falling for someone anyway. I also like the idea of the heroes managing to undo the nomufication and I 100% can see him, aizawa, and someone else (someone he was involved with as Kurogiri) ending up in a triad as a result of aizawa and the third partner helping him through the aftermath of all that shit

Lady Nagant is a manga-only minor character but im in love with her so imma talk abt it. Shes bi and leans VERY heavily towards women, probably spent years questioning whether she was rlly bi or a lesbian before finally having a fling with a guy that she genuinely enjoyed. Has only ever been in long-term relationships with women and I v much think she has a gf at home who stayed even when she was arrested 🥺

Finally imma talk abt Natsuo bc i love that boy. He's one of the few unmarried chars with a love interest and he canonically has a gf. I do see him as IDing straight in canon ngl, but the kind of straight where he might actually be bi but his preference leans so heavily towards women and he grew up in a bad home so he just doesnt rlly think abt it bc hes v happy with women anyway. In shiganatsu thoughts shigaraki is the first man he has a thing for; i rlly can see the two of them in a triad with a woman specifically, who helps the two of them find each other and is the one who initiates bc its definitely a weird situation for natsuo

hi diff anon in relation to the cairn thing and sorry to be redundant: im not entirely pleased with the presentation of that arc for the reasons u have said, however I think cairn’s decision to be with aechmea makes sense despite how bad and creepy it is due to cairn never being fully in control of his own actions, given ghost had been present beforehand and losing ghost gave a mix of freedom/guilt but the shock of this new knowledge that ghost had been influencing cairn despite the separation -

makes cairn question literally everything abt himself and what rlly constitutes himself as “cairn”, since apparently no such thing ever existed since ghost had always been present. and his way of coping with that was to completely reject anything with his past self/basically anything gem related and to now become like his apparent “savior” even to the point of cairn saying he wants to be a lunarian/being extremely desperate to be with aechmea. I dont think it was brainwashing but more aechmea -

seeing that cairn is vulnerable, isolated from the other gems since birth like phos but in a different way, and susceptible to being taken advantage of. Its especially insidious given how aechmea always presents their relationship as being open to cairn’s choices and like they are “equals” but then he does all this shady stuff in the back that makes it clear he’s always ensuring he’s the one in control. And cairn being starved for feeling in control takes the lie thats being presented since he -

doesnt know what else to do and everything abt aechmea is “correct” to cairn not necessarily bc they agree with aechmea but because cairn may think his only other option is to go back to the gems and he can’t stand the thought of that. I think its a fairly accurate portrayal of how grooming can work and given cairn’s position in the story and his history, it makes sense why he fell into this relationship (not that that is a good thing it’s just an unfortunate aspect to his circumstances) but -

I agree with u that with how ichikawa’s writing often makes it hard to tell if she’s criticizing these power imbalances, Im always holding my breath with every new chapter to know if she will give this particular relationship an ending that doesnt endorse the relationship since the framing of many parts of it isn’t.. great lmao

Yeah I definitely think you’re right, it’s not hard to see how Cairngorm would feel genuinely towards Aechmea while there is still an aspect of manipulation to their relationship. The power imbalance involved is really unsettling, and it’s easy to see how Cairngorm is being exploited in it.

I... hope Ichikawa makes the choice to actually frame their relationship as bad. As it stands, though, I have no idea if she’ll actually do that or not.

1970s. a gay furry dad named henry emily decides to make a furry restaurant cause he’s passionate abt animatronics and making kids happy. he opens the restaurant with a man named william afton as his business partner. henry makes animatronics and william handles idk being fucking creepy and handling money is my best guess. the restaurant is called Fredbear’s Family Diner, featuring Fredbear and Spring Bonnie (after a year or two it becomes popular enough for henry to have money to build bonnie, freddy, chica, and foxy too!) 

ok so shits fine and normal until william billiam is like ‘hmm im gonna be a child predator now’

on a rainy night one of henry’s children, Charlie Emily, is locked outside the pizzeria somehow, where william finds and kills them. the security marionette that henry built to protect his kids drags itself outside to their body, and thus is possessed by their spirit

obviously henry is fucked up but no one knew who the killer was, so henry was able to reopen another location, this time under the new name of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, with the now familiar friends Bonnie, Freddy, Foxy, and Chica to join the original two! multiple locations are eventually opened, and things are going just fucking fine until WILLY billy does his bullshit again!!

this time he lures them into the back by wearing a Spring Bonnie suit, and kills four children and stuffs their bodies into Bonnie, FReddy, Foxy, and Chica, where Marionette (charlie) finds them and binds their souls to the animatronics

but even though willish addon was employed at the very location he killed kids at, AND he was even convicted as the killer, since police couldnt find the bodies (and are useless) he didnt go to jail which is honestly so accurate its the scariest part of the franchise

so like henry at this point i imagine is like “fuck this” and sells the restaurant line to—you know what? honestly? i would love to know who runs Fazbear Entertainment. with the way help wanted was going i rlly hope we get an expansion on that with them as the villians (destroy capitalism) ANYWAY–

“Fazbear Entertainment” becomes the parent company of this mess now and theyre like :)……oh lets hire that william guy again hes fine

uh ok so Aphton is like hey michael go clean up my child abuse for me anyway brb so his son Mwanders into his father’s Pizzeria to find his sister elizabeth . long story short…………he finds her and she does the “we’re brothers but closer” spongebob meme but also with her friends

ANd they leave! hooray! from then on the story is about Michael, whos zombified now after being used as a husk to hide an amalgamation of 5 animatronics fucking trying to find his shitty fuckass dad, and to help the anguished and vengeful spirits inside

but the first location to reopen after having been shut down, Wilson AAAAA is employed AND KILLS SOME MORE KIDS who would have guessed omg amazing..stunning.. and michael is employed there JUST a week too late like it happens RIGHT before he’s employed so Wumbo Man gets away again and Fazbear Entertainment gets shut down AGAIN, in 1987

not too many years later Fazbear Entertainment tries to open restaurants yES AGAIN and theyre still using the original animatronics that are still rotting and bloody on the inside . somehow this place stays open for a bit, and michael is employed there still looking for Worst Father Ever, and the children attack him due to rage and confusion, and when they kill another employee, the restaurant is shut down for like the trillionth time

but then for some reason Whenwillhedie Afton is like im gonna go try to dismantle the other haunted animatronics at the shut down pizzerias cause i dont actually even know i have shit for brains and also probably wanted to melt them down for life juice BUT

theyrelike FUCK OFF and the spirits of the children materialize in front of Wellington Well Done and force him into the old crusty spring bonnie suit that he’d murdured in before nd spring is like FUCKy ou and crushesAlton with their animatronic parts aand smush him. trapped now #springbonnieisgoodguy

the spirits go to rest in animatronica, the events of fnafworld happen when: 30 fucing years later in like the 2010s some jackasses thought it would be a good idea to mak e a haunted hoiuse attraction based on fazbear’s pizza and use actual shit from the restaurants and of COURSE this fuck shit up hardcore and disturbs the spirits from the rest that they were in ( until it turned intp the events of FNAF World ) and then they were ripped back into reality when Fazbear’s Fright was built

also! they found WWWacky smacky Acky all rotting away inside Spring Bonnie (now called Springtrap) and were like yeah this is good. definitely not a robot struggling to hold back the influence of a murderer predator and definitely wouldnt haev a problem with being set free

basically michael hears about this thing when it opens and is the first employee there and proceeeds to burn the whole place down as soon as he sees Willmont stuck inside ofs Springtrap

buuuut it doesnt work and Springtrap and other various spirits and haunted robots are still wandering the fuck around and Henry at this point is like Okay I Need To Do Something About This Cause This Is Entirely Out Of Fucking Hand and he reopens a Freddy Fazbear’s location himself, but advertises for a manager who wants to build their own pizzeria

with the help of Henry’s use  of luring mechanics and michael’s endurance and survival skill they gather Scrap Baby (elizabeth), Lefty (charlie), Scraptrap (springtrap, unfortunately  who has a rotton raisin inside him ), and Molten Freddy (the remaining animatronics that  had jumped into michael’s skin lumped together)

soon as theyre all there ? boom . henry lights the place on fire just like mike had and THEY BOTH JUST SIT THERE AND DIE IN IT TOO LIKE ITS SO METAL and it burns everyone else as well

SO they employ an AU version of scott cawthon to make, essentially, the games that we’ve all been playing, but like, in-universe, – so the company in universe has fnaf video games made in order to make light of and cover up the actual murders that happened in the canon. is this too meta yet?

okay i lied this is also the scariest part of the franchise bc of how accurate it is to corrupt business hGJFSKDLHDSS

therefore, they create Help Wanted, the recently released VR game (also a game in-universe) and they use salvaged circuitboards and shit from all the old animatronics to program the game, but of course that just ends up transferring everyone’s soul into the game – the kids, the animatronic AIs, and BASTARD MAN

spring bonnie, now called Glitchtrap, is in a deteriorated mental state and is weak to Afton’s influence, and the fuck is able to manipulate an unknown amount of people into helping him out of the VR game and into the in-universe real world. one of these people was jeremy fitzgerald, michael afton’s childhood friend and a former employee at Fazbear’s Pizza during 1987.

he was involved in a lawsuit against the company making the game, and we don’t know what has happened to him yet. but he’s very important. evidence points to him being one of the kids that helped michael put CC’s head into Fredbear’s mouth, and that in 1987 when working at freddys he was bitten and is somehow functioning without a frontal lobe (but like, michael at this point is functioning with insides made of pudding and rotting skin so . basically theyre both too gay to die )

but we DO know that theres at least one person communicating directly with Glitchtrap, who he seems to have convinced to help set him free, someone whos made their own rabbit mask but doesnt seem to be willingly doing this, and might be brainwashed

also, currently, (this is really weird because we are currently living in the same time as the fnaf timeline is at right now) Fazbear Entertainment is planning on a “service program” that is basically sending personal animatronics to peoples houses and GUESS how fucking well THAT works out bc theyre STILL ALL HAUNTED YOuf g

and it seems like theyre planning on opening a new location in 2020, and that might be when we can learn more about the reluctant follower of springtrap and who has the camera while everyone moshes on william aftons corpse

so ive talked abt it before briefly i think or it was twitter i dont remember but in the summer my ed acts up rlly bad and bc i dont have ppl watching me im able to pm do whatever i want which leads to Bad things physically and mentally.

 like i said in my,, yyyyooran post... saeran probably eats sweets unconciously a lot of the time while he’s doing things like watching shows or reading or w/e. sometimes he eats so much that he feels sick. dummy.

personality-wise... very withdrawn and quiet for a quite a while when he first starts recovering! at least around most of the rfa. saeyoung sees his snarky side pretty quick but it’s a surprise to the other rfa members when he starts getting more comfortable because eventually he doesnt stop himself from being snarky and sarcastic. he even starts poking fun at people other than saeyoung (probably zen because he’s so dramatic. or jumin because.....how can u not poke fun at jumin han)

everyone is surprised the first couple times it happens because  they thought he was this Sweet Soft boy but no. he’s sassy as Fuck (within reason of course)

appearance-wise... even tho i Love edgy saeran w all my heart and Want it to be canon so bad........ going by the secret endings i... cant help but imagine he doesnt wear a lot of chokers or paint his nails much, if at all, after his hair goes back to red???

 i imagine it was a struggle to convince him to dye hair back to normal at first bc he was very Abrasive and defensive and for a long time he didn’t want to let go of the persona he built for himself???

which makes sense because, like, if you built up a whole personality for yourself out of spite and anger (while also under the influence of a FUCKTON of drugs and brainwashing) and suddenly that spite and anger is subsiding,,,, that would be pretty fucking confusing

but once he’s dedicated to recovering and getting better he p much drops all the Edgy stuff in relation to his appearance. 

(he STILL... wears a lil bit of eye makeup tho? but its very simple and “”””natural”””” looking u kno like... usin brown eyeshadow as eyeliner.. maybe some mascara... v simple n natural n cute.. ........ bc its calming for him to apply it. and it helps his eyes/the green contacts stand out more so its easier to tell him apart from saeyoung)

and... idk i imagine he still kinda genuinely likes that edgy fashion style a bit??? but. i feel like the white hair and leather and spikes was more for shock value and trying to be as different from saeyoung as possible, more than anything... if that makes sense? yeah.

so. what DOES he wear? imo he is a Cozy Boy ok. tbh i dont rlly like his sweater postcanon but i imagine he wears stuff like that pretty often buT.... to be more self indulgent i like to imagine more lik e…. cozy, somewhat baggy knit sweaters n jeans. comfort is key w his wardrobe. pull-overs... sometimes he’ll wear t-shirts w/ cardigans. sometimes hoodies. overall v soft cozy boy, always snug as a bug….. but yes.

and?? idk maybe i’m projecting but i feel like big baggy, comfy clothes would be kind of an emotional safety blanket for him, if that makes sense? they’re cozy and big and he can hide in them. so?? yeah. hes comfortable in sweaters. for a long time he’s very opposed to Not wearing smth comfortable and somewhat baggy that covers as much of his body as possible.

like, it’ll be a billion fuckin degrees outside bc its summer, and this poor boy refuses to take his sweater off. everyone tries SO hard to get him to wear smth less hot, but nope. he doesn’t care if hes melting. “That’s what ice cream is for.”

BUT i feel like he gets more comfortable rolling up his sleeves or even wearing t-shirts eventually ?? like once he hits a certain point, he stops giving a fuck and isn’t insecure about scars and stuff at all.

like. one of them sees scars / marks from past injuries and ask him about it and he just. looks at what they’re referring to for a second and then just replies deadpan

just?? very. casual about it. and it’s not like he’s totally over those things, but he’s comfortable enough now that they’re not a big deal? idk he doesn’t rlly consider that it might make other people uncomfortable, because he’s not uncomfortable

and ofc he has his bad moments when he’s very withdrawn and insecure and cagey but i feel like, on his good days, he’s a rlly chill guy, if not a bit quiet.

this boy also has a potty mouth. and he doesn’t curse to be tough or edgy or anything, but he’s just used to speaking like that i guess so.. he definitely embarrasses jaehee or mc at an rfa event... or in front of kids. bc he doesn’t have a filter when it comes to Bad Words. they just shush him like “Saeran!!!!! Language!!!!!” and he doesnt realize what he’s doing wrong
