kotaro has never been the best with fashion, but with the help of you and his teammates, he has gotten better at dressing his son up

his son is gonna be a total daredevil, sometimes even kotaro surprisingly gets worried.

seeing all this talk about sofia and I want to throw my two cents out there: I think the sofia they were going for in the show would have been better suited with jj than with rafe. does this sound a bit too far fetched? maybe! but this is obx and it’s not that deep and this thought has been swirling in my mind for weeks so I’m gonna write it out

my reasoning here is that while I know her character purpose was to be rafe’s love interest and the one who “changes” him, it’s obvious that that doesn’t really work on screen, AT ALL. rafe is way too caustic for sofia and def would not bend to her will so easily the way they want us to believe. like the show had to randomly sand down his sharp edges rather than have him work to make the change and it was not done in a way that was believable or earned :/

on the other hand, this isn’t really the issue with jj. yeah, jj is slightly volatile and impulsive but he def wouldnt disrespect sofia the way rafe does. jj has his problems but i genuinely believe sofia’s more “softer” personality might work in this context?? idk, her character is too flat in general but if we we improve her writing a bit, like giving her some agency and focusing more on WHO she is, they could be interesting. generally speaking, the writers dropped the ball on her because they could have given us a pogue character outside of the main group in similar but opposite fashion to topper, ruthie and kelce who allowed us more insight to the pogue side of life, but alas….

alsooooo rafe and jj are lot more similar than some fans want to admit 🤷‍♀️ it’s obvious that the pogues are a big reason why jj hasnt dug himself a deeper hole. he has blanket loyalty to them but i think sofia-adjacent character could introduce some internal conflict for him (idk how but we could find a way), and yes, I know the jjpope of it all (and jiara too but we don’t care about that) but listen…if sofia is a character that had to be paired up with someone and if we are doing the whole “she can change him” thing, then jj would be a top contender is all I’m saying

(this being so long is hilarious to me considering i neither care for sofia nor jj like that lol)

oh ok… now we’re talkin…

JJ’s primary issue is not “i’m a violent man, i have no emotional stability, and at any given moment a perceived slight will send me into a rage”. it’s “i have no impulse control, and it negatively affects the people i love when they’re caught up in my schemes”

john b, pope, kiara, and now cleo that she’s one of the core members? oh, they’re used to this. it may be inconvenient to constantly fix JJ’s mess, but they signed up for it when they decided to be his friend and love him all the same. they know their boy, and they have nothing to lose, so they’ll always stick by his side even if he puts them through a lot

but how is he ever gonna grow up? how is he gonna learn that his poor choices can ruin his friends’ lives, even if they’ve preemptively forgiven him? what’s gonna happen when he meets someone who does have something to lose?

like say… sofia? yeah, she’s a pogue, but she works on figure 8 and has her family to think about. her reputation is important, and messing around with JJ puts that at serious risk (both because… i’m sure the maybanks lack sparkling reviews from around the island… but also because he’s a menace and i bet he racks up MIPs, speeding tickets, public disturbance charges, etc like CRAZY). if she wants to keep hanging around the cute pogue boy, he needs to get his act together!

so he cleans up. he still parties and fucks around, but baby steps. switches from vodka to beer at parties so he doesn’t get too fucked and cause a scene. when bosses/kooks piss him off at work, he steps out for a smoke instead of throwing a drink in their face. he quits racing school busses. it gets to a point where his friends don’t recognize him—

but you’re right, the writers did drop the ball on her and any other potential pogue character who existed outside the main friend group. it’s hard to imagine how they’d react to her because we never see them interact with anyone who isn’t part of a clue trail or a kook nemesis. i can’t even pitch a dynamic with them partially because her characterization is just “nice, does the right thing usually” but also every hypothetical encounter just turns into sarah cameron 2 electric boogaloo (we can’t trust this girl, she has a bad history with one or more of us, etc etc)

also in case i never get the chance to bring this up again: sofia’s dad sucks too. he’s no physical abuser like ward or luke, but he genuinely pitched his young daughter to screw her boyfriend out of nearly half a million dollars for some extra cash. he seemed guilty about asking but i don’t think it was guilt about the crime itself, merely for bringing his kid into it. dude what a scumbag 😭 also i just realized— since she told her father no but took the deal anyways… how was she gonna explain that money? would she just keep it? i think hollis got killed before the cash was handed over anyways so whatever but still???

Daniel: now he's in the fashion department and earning some money, he guesses he should take more of an interest in current trends. He's still wearing Jay's castoffs and he's happy with them but he takes a huge interest in women's fashion for his momma. She's worked hard and she deserves nice things and Daniel wants to spoil her 🥰

Jay: his hobby? Daniel. His thoughts? Daniel. His dreams? Daniel. But guns and motorbike? This boy has a thing for Hollywood action films and he has pretty good taste too. Classics-ish such as Matrix, Terminator, John Wick

Zoe: she loves watching animal rehab videos on social media, and even the videos of newtubers helping out homeless or down on their luck people. Most of it may be scripted but the act of kindness (even for selfish purposes) makes her melt

Vasco: you think this man doesn't have a Pinterest account? He doesn't spend his spare time putting boards together? His boards aren't public? He's not ashamed. He's got at least 1 for parties, 1 for golden retrievers and 1 for Hero Man pics

Jace: kdramas, the more romantic with as many tropes the better. He likes a good story filled with miscommunication, lots of crying, scenes in the rain and open eyed kisses 😳

Zack: sneaky little hobby of reading up on supernatural shit. After running into the ghost of J High, he's been absorbed with ghosts and demons - in particular how to avoid getting cursed...

Mira: meditation. Putting up with Zack all the time and the violent boys, she needs her moment of peace before she gets overwhelmed. She's also had some pretty traumatic experiences, so this helps her to centre and recollect her thoughts

Johan: unironically a sneakerhead. Started off researching expensive shoes so he can recognise them but now he's fully into the hobby. Way too tight to buy any for himself when he could be saving for his momma's operation but it's nice to window shop 🥺

Vin Jin: we all know he would be twerking to Dukes music. But apart from obviously his music (cos music is his life yknow), he would be leaving hate messages and death threats on Dukes social media and fanpages. He hate watches Dukes live streams but cant stop the twerk creeping up on him

Mary Kim: she's in the Vocal and Dance department but this girl can shred like no tomorrow. She has a band she's the lead vocalist and guitarist of that she keeps off Vins radar so he can keep the shitty rap to himself

Crystal: hiking and the outdoors. It's a way to keep her second body fit and get away from her desk and all the business bullshit. During the days that Gun acts as her bodyguard, she tells him to stay at least 50ft away so he doesn't ruin the mood

Jake: memelord. Cos at least humour is free. He collects pics and memes, and has so many shitty dad jokes up his sleeve to send to the Big Deal members and groupchats that he often gets kicked out or blocked. Hearing their exasperation at another one of his messages always brightens up his day

Samuel: lol drinking as a hobby. this man should be spending all his spare time in therapy but can't win them all 🤷‍♀️ Doesn't do much on his own time that doesn't advance his goals but enjoys sipping on some smooth expensive shit. Not the best for his health, but he needs something to block out the demons

Lua: not the queen of info for nothing. Spends a lot of her time on social media, forums and the dark web reading up on info (and gossip). Shes also kicked up a gear with her Muay Thai training so the assholes in Big Deal would stop underestimating her

Sinu: all that time being locked up with that little bit of chalk? You know what he did? HE'S A FIC WRITER. Headcannons of Big Deal, Sinu X Yeonhui. What the guys would be doing now, what sort of girlfriend Yeonhui would be (I wrote this as a joke but it's pretty depressing)

Gun: you thought that was a casual notepad and pen he had on hand for brekdaks autograph? No bitch its his actual autograph book. He lives and breathes fighting and fangirls a little internally meeting his fighting idols

Goo: anime and boardgames. Yes yes he's a nerd ok. He watched 1 too many anime shows and in his head he's the protagonist fighting his way to the top, with his sidekick Gun. But who do you think left all the boardgames in that shitty house? Gun is boring and Goo needs entertaining. It's one way to let them get competitive without beating the shit out of each other... - As an adult and someone who was basically raised by an older sibling w/a big age gap (my sis is 7 years older) I kinda don’t blame Takeomi for being a bad older brother??? Realistically he’s a 17 yr old in charge of raising 2 toddlers like NO SHIT he did a bad job. At least Shin had his grandfather to help out but Takeomi actually had no one. Doesn’t explain y he’s a brokey LOL buttttt again I don’t FULLY blame him for being a bad sibling still hurt my boi Sanzu 😤😤

Takemitchy didn’t get character development until BD arc and that’s just a bit too long for me….

This was important to him. He was proud of all that he'd been able to accomplish in just a few weeks. Establishing a whole new office was no small feat, yet Lojal had managed it with ease. Before, he'd been carrying out his diplomatic work from Vulcan, but after communicating with the head of Starfleet's Diplomatic Corps, he'd convinced those concerned that it would be more logical for him to remain on Deep Space Nine.

Given all the new species we'd encounter via the wormhole, his presence here was entirely logical. Commander Sisko was obviously accomplished in matters of diplomacy, but he was only one man. It made sense to have an Ambassador present to take some of the weight off the Commander's shoulders. After all, he had a whole station to run, not to mention he was a single father. No parent wanted to miss out on time with their kids. He couldn't deny that with a resident diplomat, he'd have more time to spend with his son.

The Commander had taken the assignment of a Federation Ambassador in stride, quite content to allow Lojal to handle some of the more delicate matters that crossed his desk.

After our mind meld the day he arrived on Deep Space Nine, there had hardly been a day when Lojal and I hadn't spoken in some fashion. Even if all we could manage was a short greeting in the corridors on the way to our posts in the morning, we made the time for each other. We'd missed out on enough of that as it was.

When he called me to his new office during a lull in my own duties, I was more than happy to make the trek across the station. The space he'd made for himself was now just as familiar to me as his old office had been back when our roles in each other's lives were very different.

Some of the same furnishings had been transported from Vulcan, most notably, a small incense holder shaped like the Vulcan IDIC symbol. I'd bought it for him years ago when I'd discovered his birthday - which was a complete accident, of course. I hadn't meant to come across it, but one morning my terminal seemingly had a mind of its own and opened all of the Embassy's personnel files. As I was manually closing them all, I might have glanced at the information in Lojal's file. Accidentally, of course.

The look of surprise on his face was more than worth closing hundreds of files by hand. He'd set it in a place of prominence on his desk, and in no more than the time it took for him to retrieve a stick of his favorite incense, the holder was in use. I couldn't recall a time when it sat empty, and today was obviously no exception. The scent lingered in the air of the antechamber, having escaped confinement from Lojal's office.

His new assistant, a Betazoid man by the name of Lenor, already had a smile on his face when I walked through the door.

"Go on through. He's waiting for you - quite anxiously, too, for a Vulcan," he mentioned, and I tossed him a smile of my own.

"As anxiously as you're awaiting a chance to speak with that cute Ensign you met in the Replimat? What was his name again...?" I teased, and a bashful laugh escaped him.

"Fine, fine, I know when I've been beaten at my own game," Lenor muttered, and I let him get back to his paperwork.

Lojal was already on his feet, pacing the length of his office when the door slid open. Oh. Lenor was right. But what did the Ambassador have to be anxious about?

He caught sight of me and froze, drawing himself up a little straighter.

"You wanted to see me, Mr. Ambassador?" I put a little playfulness in my tone, hoping that it would ease whatever tension he was experiencing.

"Indeed. Lieutenant Commander...ashayam, I sincerely hope that I am not reading the situation incorrectly, but our interactions over the past twenty three days and seventeen hours would seem to indicate a return to our previous level of familiarity." Familiar with his long-winded attempts to broach sensitive topics, I merely gave him an encouraging smile and allowed him to continue. After all, listening to his pretty voice was no hardship for me. He could be rambling about the Ferengi Alliance's economy and I'd still listen quite contentedly. "I realize that after my actions two years ago, I do not deserve a second chance, nevertheless, I would regret not asking for the rest of my life. Would you allow me the honor of sharing dinner with you?"

Taking a slow step toward him, I lifted an eyebrow.

"Lojal, we've eaten together several times since you came here," I pointed out, and he lifted his chin slightly.

"True, however, those instances have been in public places - Quark's bar, the Replimat, gatherings with other officers," he explained. Unclasping his hands from behind his back, he took a step closer to me and lightly brushed a few strands of hair behind my ear. "Tonight, assuming that you find it agreeable, I intend to dine with you privately in my quarters...as a first instance of courtship."

My breath caught in my chest.

"You're asking me on a first date?" My voice was barely a whisper when I finally found it.

"I believe that is the correct Human colloquialism for this situation, yes," he murmured as his eyes skimmed over my face, pausing for a long moment on my lips before flicking back up to meet my own gaze. "You are under no obligation to accept. If you are uncomfortable with the prospect, I will not trouble you with such inquiries again."

After so many years of pining and separation, heartbreak and wondering, this felt surreal, but I wasn't about to say no.

"What time did you have in mind, ashal-veh?" I asked, and his eyes widened.

"You...know the meaning of...?" Nodding my head silently, I watched a beautiful emerald blush color his cheeks as he realized that I'd known about the terms of endearment he'd been using when addressing me. This time, it was his turn for his voice to crack as he spoke. "How long?"

"Since the day after our meld. I have a friend who knows a few words of Vuhlkansu." Lojal looked stunned and proud in equal measure. Standing on the tips of my toes, I placed a soft kiss just beside the corner of his mouth. His tender, somewhat dazed expression drew a smile to my lips. Smoothing the front of his already immaculately-pressed robes, I continued. "So...what time are we having dinner?"

I've been thinking of a what-if scenario lately that involves Helen choosing Patroclus to wed instead of Menelaus and it made me wonder... In your opinion, would Achilles have binned his chance at glory to have Patroclus to himself in that kind of setting? 😂 Assuming Helen still gets carted off to Troy...

Honestly I'm not sure how this scenario would have worked because if Helen did choose Patroclus then... they would presumably get married so maybe the whole "killing Amphidamas' son over a game of dice" might not have happened so he wouldn't have met Achilles at all (at least not until Troy? Which wouldn't have changed much because they wouldn't know each other and Achilles would have no reason to bin his chance at glory for him). And if let's say Patroclus was too young to marry and they were waiting for him to get older, and he DID end up killing the boy, then he would have been carted off to Phthia anyway and Helen would have married someone else. So Patroclus would have met Achilles in much the same fashion as he did originally, so not much would have changed either way 🤷‍♀️

Did you know that Space Goofs would've had its own Movie Adaptation titled after its own Video Game Adaptation made by the Same Company behind their Adaptation of "The Magic Roundabout" that Xilam would've partner up with but unfortunately thanks to The Weinstein Company that butchered their Very First Film (which bombed), the Company went bankrupt which caused the Death of Xilam's Very First Film Adaptation based on one of their Cartoons?

No? Well, I've wanted to Adapt The Cancelled Movie into my AU of Space Goofs (presumably of what would've been by its own plot which was the Huge Inspiration to My Character, Star) but I've also added in the Girl Character from the Trailer of what could've add been the Main Human Friend whose not an Enemy to the Aliens that would help protect them from the Human World in order for them to get Back Home (Animated Equivalent to "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" I suppose?🤷‍♀️

dunno, but maybe I think it would've been a lot more equal to "Lilo and Stitch" due its Comedy but I could at least imagine Xilam trying out their own "Emotional" scenes if their Would-Be-Partner Company didn't go bankrupt, which happens a lot in every other movie that you usually see in terms of Story Complex).

Anyway, back on the Track.

I've wanted to bring the Cancelled Movie back from the Dead seeing on how that everyone else is used into bringing Scrapped Concepts back to Life with some Fanon Ideas and oh boy, do I sure love to bring Fanon Ideas into My AUs!

So here we have is The Girl (who is named "Ambre Lou" in my AU, that's the Name that Me and @djinarocks up calling) and her own Group of Friends who serve as the Earth Kid Counterparts to The Main Protagonists Themselves. Yes, I'm pulling out the Whole "Counterpart of Opposites" trope (which I know can be cliche but it's really fun, especially when it comes to Children vs. Adults).

Ambre Lou's personality (despite that I changed her design just a little from the Movie) is pretty much the same as the Cancelled Movie's Concept, a Girl who loves Sci-Fi, Very Snarky but Friendly Attitude. As for the Kids, they have their own personalities in terms of their own contrast towards their own Alien Counterparts.

Lukas "Kai" Caddell is Very Laid-Back, Cool, and Lazy but can be Sarcastic and Mischievous when he wants to be but still acts like a Nice Kid. Very highly into a Lot of Boy Stuff (especially Superheroes).

Tyson B. Adakai is Very Tidy who works hard but acts as if he's the Very Compassionate and Fun-Loving one out of the Group, but despite his Antics, he can sometimes be the one who perhaps learns on how to Balance Anyone out of the Group as he's Well Empathic. When he is not called "Tyson", he can either be called by his own Two Nicknames; "Tyler" or "Ty".

Jayda "Jade" Nicholson is a Smooth Talking and Calm Girl whose into Fashion Stuff. Very Sophisticated and Moral with some Smart Suggestions through a Confident Personality, Jade is always there willing to be by their Friend's side as she is always Helpful of Others (through both Strength and Words), but be careful of her Anger, especially when her Little Brother is around annoying her all the time.

Matthew "Mathias" Gardner is the Most Highly Intelligent Kid and the Brains of the Group. Very Smart but can be a Little Bit Shy towards Others, he's the Very Nerdy Kid of the Group but can act scared (especially if it's Germs) whenever something horrifying gets on his Nerves but can act Very Peaceful as the Voice of Reason in the Group whenever he needs to be.

Some small cuts and bruises. He wasn't seriously hurt which was a good thing.

You held his hand as they redid the stitches on his back.

"See with pain meds this isn't that bad," he laughed, squeezing your hand.

You smiled up at him, taking a small towel and wetting it, gently scrubbing off the dirt and dried blood off of his face.

He smiled up at you.

They had him change out of his clothes and into some other more comfortable clothing. You took his clothes and he frowned.

"I don't want them to-"

"I'll take them home tonight and wash them. I'll give them to you tomorrow morning... before leavin'," you said with a smile.

"Ms. L/N... Dean Highbottom would like to speak to you. Privately."

"Do you know what these are?" He asked, pointing at the two items on the table.

"A makeup compact and a handkerchief? I'm confused... have I don't something wrong?" You asked, looking at him.

He sighed, it sounded relieved.

"No, sweet child, you have not... Coriolanus however..."

"Coryo? What did he do? What do those have to do with him?" You questioned.

Now that he mentioned it, you had not seen Coriolanus nor Lucy Gray. You would have thought he would be celebrating his victory much like you did.

"This... is Coriolanus's mother's compact.... And this is his father's handkerchief. He used them to cheat."

He told. Coriolanus Snow had told on you. He was a liar. A liar. A cheater. A liar. You hated liars more than anything.

"Dean Highbottom... I truly appreciate that but... I'm not happy here. I don't want to continue my education here in the Capitol where they are telling us that killing kids is a good thing because of a war. I know you made the games yet, I... I do not like them. There was a silence in the room.

In a drunken stupor when Dr.Gaul had given the class an assignment to create something to punish the districts. When I woke up I... I asked Cassius for the papers so I could rip them up. Destroy them. They were horrible... he had put both of our names on it and turned it in. Ever since then, she's kept me doing them... I understand how you feel. So I'm willing to help you."

You looked up in shock at everything he said. He didn't like the games either? He was friends with Snow's dad?

"Tomorrow morning they are sending your boy back. Tomorrow morning, you'll leave too I'm assuming?" He questioned.

You nodded, playing with the necklace.

"Alright... if that is truly what you want."

One question was still on your mind.

"Where's Coryo? Lucy Gray? What is going to happen to them?" You nervously asked. You were upset with them but that didn't mean they deserved to be hurt.

"Lucy Gray was sent back home. She's safe. Coriolanus is expected to join the peacekeepers tomorrow morning. Sejanus... wanted to go with...followed suit, that boy... he better be careful. I set up for him to be sent to six... but something tells me he will go to twelve to look for his songbird... that girl is lucky she survived him. He thinks he can trap her. Keep her in a cage and make her sing for him when he pleases... just like his father," Highbottom sat in the chair across from you. "He will come back. And he will come back with a hatred for those who know about what happened. For your sake... and for Treech's... act like you do not know about his cheating."

You went back to the room he was in and whispered everything to him.

His eyes narrowed.

"I saw her with that compact.... I should have called it out..." he whispered, looking down.

"I'm sorry... I should have never asked you to spare Lucy Gray.... She tried to hurt you..." you mumble, grabbing his hands. While you were gone he must have been allowed to take a shower because all the dirt and grime was off, and his hair looked more in it's natural soft curly state.

"Don't worry... you thought you were savin' me by having that alliance..." he said, grabbing your hand and pressing a kiss to it.

"I get to go home with you... I'm packing tonight. And I'm takin' just enough of my things and money to get by without seeming suspicious. Dean Highbottom was able to somehow... find an old cabin in the woods. We can live there... we... um I-" you stammered, meaning to say I, but obviously you wanted nothing more than for you two to be a 'we'.

He blushed and looked into your eyes.

"We huh? I'd like that," he said, quickly adding, "Only if you want that to I mean-"

You pressed a quick peck to his lips.

He smiled and looked at you, lovestruck.

"Well sunshine... that's one way to shut me up."

Later, you were both allowed to leave the hospital. You were told that he needed to stay with you, not leaving your sight, which was no problem.

There was a party for the victors, but you didn't want to go. You wanted to spend a quiet night in. So, instead of taking Treech to go to a party that neither of you wanted to go, you took him to your house.

Your father was still out... and your mother was probably still staring out the window.

You took him through the stupidly ornate house, stopping quickly by the laundry room, and finally into your room.

He was mesmerized by the room.

Although you refused to have any extravagant decorations, you guessed the room might have some things you wouldn't find back in seven.

"You never change do you?" He whispered.

"What do you mean?" You asked, following him as he stepped to the window.

His fingers traced the window sill, and his smile widened.

He watched as you used a new stain you'd taken from the factory.

"How did you get that? Seems like something we'd use to stain anything sent to the Capitol," he asked.

It was a green color, and you were using a small paint brush to paint little vines and leaves around the edge of his window.

"Uh... snuck in."

"Oh? Didn't know you had it you," he laughed.

"Hey, I-... I can break the rules every once in a while," you huffed, embarrassed.

"Ok, ok... trouble maker," he teased.

He turned to face you with a bright smile. You sighed happily, and took his hands in yours.

"I am going to take a bath... everything hurts from sleeping on the floor," you mumbled kissing his hand.

"Oh, it hurts does it princess?" He teased, spinning you around. "Oh how will you ever survive seven after all this luxury."

You both started laughing and you wrapped your arms around his neck.

"The biggest luxury I have is to be by your side. I have not had it in years and that was a hard one to live without," you whispered, brushing his hair out of his face.

He leaned his face on your palm and smiled, "Such a poetic way of speaking, Sunshine."

Your eyes lit up as he mentioned the word poetic. You let him go and opened up a neatly organized drawer of letters and loose parchment. Then you opened another filled with journals.

"Well how about while I take a bath... you read those," you smiled, looking through your neatly organized basket of vinyls, selecting one to play. "Once it's done could you flip it? And then after that side is done you can pick one to play if I am not out yet."

He stared at the record player in admiration. He hadn't seen one for years. Most people had radios. Radios were somehow cheaper than a record player. But he had always admired the sound of one.

"Well, if you need anything just walk in," you smiled, going through the door into your bathroom.

He delicately placed the record on the turntable, placing the needle softly, and turning it on.

He heard you humming the music in the bathroom. The water was running so he assumed you were drawing up a bath.

He then went to go read one of the letters before you came out of the bathroom in a robe.

"Do you... want to join?"

His face exploded in a fiery red blush at your words.

"I don't mean it like that!" You whisper yelled. "Pervert."

You giggled softly at this and his reaction.

"I'm sorry you-I- im-..." he stammered unable to get his words out.

"You can just say no silly. I was just askin' cause you mentioned your body hurtin' too," you explained, quietly going back to the bathroom.

This time you left the door open a crack in case he needed something. He let out a sigh and rubbed his head.

"That was embarrassing for me... let's see what we have here..." he mumbled, looking through the notebooks, deciding it was easier to read through them first.

He could not have been more wrong.

You, much like him, wrote poetry. Some sweet, lovesick things.

And then there were things that were very scandalous.

He blushed as he read through the poems meant for him.

He heard you come out of the bathroom and he smirked in your direction.

Hello! I was wondering if you had an insights as to what the idea was behind the Starsending Robes? I've been looking at them quite closely and couldn't understand what kind of style they were going for or what the inspiration behind them was! This isn't to say that I don't like them as I do a lot but would simply like to know more about them!

The history of the Star Sending harkens back to the story of Pinocchio, as is detailed in the introduction to the event. The customs associated with the holiday itself borrows ideas from Tanabata, a Japanese summer festival in which people write their wishes on slips of paper and tie them to tree branches.

As for the fashion (ie the Star Sending Garments/Robes), I don’t think it’s inspired by one particular trend or style??? It feels more like a combination of many different things.

Yana stated in a March 2023 interview that in terms of costume design, she wants the clothes to be modern yet also wants to remain cognizant of the fact that TWST (or NRC, I guess) is a place where many cultures, countries, and time periods exist at the same time. They have a unique world of their own, and stylish fashion to go with it—so the clothing in TWST isn’t really a reinterpretation of a preexisting costume, but rather something wholly special to Twisted Wonderland. As an example, the richly historical Pomefiore robes were inspired by the traditional Japanese kimono. For events in which characters travel to new places, climate and local culture is also considered for styling. Cold places like Harveston would have thick yer breathable clothing to protect from the weather! A similar approach may have been taken in terms of the Star Sending robes.

I believe the general overall look may have come from the Blue Fairy (from the story of Pinocchio, which the lore of the holiday originates); it’s a sleeveless dress, and if you look at her neckline, it’s a V-line. In the Star Sending robes, the white cloth forms a V-line as well (though it isn’t as obvious because it’s layered with a sleeveless black high collar tunic). When dancing, the Star Sending boys also use sticks topped with stars, which look very similar to the Blue Fairy’s wand. If we really want to go out on a limb, maybe you could say the fabric looks lightweight and is easy to move in to resemble the yukata that are typically worn to Tanabata festivals.

The actual robes and all the extra embellishments are probably there just to add extra modern or high fashion pizzazz? Or maybe the dark blue with the shiny accents are referencing Wizard Mickey’s hat 🤷‍♀️ (Again, basing this guess on the design philosophy shared in the interview.) I can’t think of any immediate comparisons to Pinocchio or Tanabata fashion.

It’s ugly riding, it seems like a normal boring ride, I’m totally off balance 50% of the time, but I’m just happy I’m on (and stayed on!!) 😮‍💨💪

Haven’t ridden Eddie for 2 months and haven’t ridden him in an arena for a year (and the last time I did I fell off in spectacular fashion 😅) so this was a big mental hurdle for me to get over, even though it looks like nothing special in the video! Everyone and their mother knows I struggle riding Mister Ed and his big floaty trot (mainly cos I don’t shut up about it lol) so to go from crying and hyperventilating over a pony club trot pole last year, to getting straight on and trotting around in an arena I haven’t been in -with a big spooky mirror on one side!- is I think, for me, pretty fuckin awesome 😮‍💨

This was also a fabulous opportunity to try on his new and improved (treeless!!) saddle, which was SO much more supportive with a higher cantle than the flat-seated Bates I’d been riding in - even if it did force me to have my legs much longer than I felt comfortable with being a gp 😅 His trot seemed much more manageable in it without being too horrendous (but I did swear a little the first time I trotted 🫣) and it doesn’t look nearly as bad on camera as it felt, I just need to keep working on myself so I can be ready to have him back at the end of the year and do him some justice as a rider!

Admittedly I did cry a lil bit BUT it was only once and at the end of the ride, sooooo not to brag but who can beat that record 🤷‍♀️😂

He’s big and he’s green and unbalanced, but he’s still my Eddie boy and he still feels like home 🥰💕
