Fucking around with my As Above deck from Barbara Moore's "The Book of Shadows Tarot" series and I don't think Barbara Moore was paying attention to the implications of her work, but she kind of implied through her renamed Elemental-Maiden-Mother-Crone court cards that Elementals (sylphs, gnomes, salamanders, and undines) grow into wholeass humans.

tarot spells
MANIFESTATION SPELL
Materials:
-the magician
-strength
-the chariot
-wheel of fortune
-temperance
-a blue candle
-a purple candle
Instructions:
1) arrange the cards in this orientation
Tumblr media
2) put the blue candle on the left and purple candle on the right
3) light both candles, starting on the left
4) look at the magician card and imagine yourself as him. think of all the things you have, and what you don't. remember that you have limitless potential
5) look at the chariot card and imagine yourself as the rider. know that you will make any number of choices that may help or hinder you--make peace with this
6) look at strength, and imagine yourself as the person overcoming all their obstacles (the lion)
7) look at the wheel of fortune and know that your luck will ebb and flow, will increase and decrease, know this and accept it
8) look at temperance and let it remind you that your path is open ahead of you, you are being looked after
9) after you have reached the end of the arch, imagine your goal in your head, as clearly as possible. you can say/think an incantation or prayer, but i find it's usually not necessary. here's an example you can use:
"Look after me, aid my meditation
I use the cards to guide my intention
Guide me, know me, show me the way
So I may not waver or stray"
MOTIVATION SPELL
Materials:
-four of swords, reversed
-four of wands
-four of cups
-citrine
Instructions:
Tumblr media
1) put the four of swords, reversed in its place. what burdens are you carrying?
2) put the four of cups in its place. have you become apathetic? overly sensitive?
3) move the four of cups to reversed position, where do you need to do more introspection?
4) put the four of wands in its place. is it time for a break? a vacation?
5) hold the citrine and say an invocation or prayer, if you'd like. if you need an idea, here's an example:
"Give me the strength
give me the force
to take what I need
for life and for spirit"
FINDING HAPPINESS SPELL
Materials:
-ten of cups
-ten of swords, reversed
-judgement
Instructions:
Tumblr media
1) place the ten of swords, reversed in its place, imagine this difficult period being over
2) place judgement in it's place, imagine your energy and joy being revived
3) place ten of cups in its place, imagine yourself with your most loved people, overjoyed
4) you can say an incantation/prayer here or don't, either way is fine, but here's an example if you'd like:
"I know myself to be glad
I know myself to belong
I know myself to be loved
I know that my health
will be revived"

Tarot Tips for Witches, Beginners & Intuitives
Because your deck is more than just pretty paper!
Whether you’re just starting out or deep in the cards, these tarot tips will help sharpen your intuition and deepen your connection:
Everyday Tips
• Cleanse your deck often — crystals, moonlight, sound, or simply your breath and intention.
• Ask open-ended questions like “What do I need to know about…” instead of yes/no.
• Keep it simple. 1–3 card pulls can be just as powerful as a full spread.
• Trust your gut before the guidebook. First impressions matter.
• Write your readings down — patterns, symbols, and synchronicities love to show up later.
For Energy & Intuition
• Pull a daily card for guidance or reflection. Let it speak to your mood, your magic, or your mission.
• Set a soft intention before reading: “Let this reading bring clarity, kindness, and truth.”
• Speak to your deck like an old friend. Tarot mirrors your inner world.
• Shuffle until it feels right. Your body knows more than you think.
Witchy Add-Ons
• Sleep with a card under your pillow to absorb its energy in dreams.
• Keep amethyst or labradorite near for boosted insight.
• Read during moon phases — new moons for beginnings, full moons for revelations.
• Don’t rush. Some cards whisper, some scream. Give them all time.
Which tip do you swear by? Or what’s the best advice you’ve received from your deck?

10 Ideas for When You Want to Practice Divination but 'Don't Have a Good Reason to'
Sometimes you just get an urge to do some tarot, or the urge to mess with runes, but there's nothing you really want or need out of it. So I came up with some ideas that scratch the divination magic itch!
To note: for most of these prompts I will be referring to "cards" since I prefer cartomancy the most, however most of these ideas can be adapted into other forms of divination.
1. Artwork
I love drawing a random tarot card and making a quick and easy collage. Or sometimes I let the cards pick a prompt for me!
2. Make your own oracle cards/make your own form of divination
You can create your own themes, give the cards a specific use, or even just make some cards meant for witchy decoration-- do whatever you please! Likewise, you can also create your own divination system using items, symbolism, or "runic" imagery.
3. "Hang out" with your preferred divination device
I like to sit with my cards and admire the artwork, or sometimes I'll watch a movie while randomly shuffling them. It helps me feel connected to them!
4. Conduct an "interview"
Since my preferred method of divination is my tarot cards, I'll typically ask them to give me a reversed card for 'no' and a right-side-up card for 'yes'. I'll then proceed to ask it whatever questions pop into my mind. Sometimes I'll even ask it questions about myself. You can definitely adapt this idea into other forms of divination and give it a try!
Pick a card and then pick a song you feel fits the vibe of the card the most. Keep doing this until you have a full fledged playlist!
5. Make a divination-led playlist!
6. Learn a new form of divination
To name a few for inspiration: Aeromancy, Bibliomancy, Carromancy, Curiomancy, Cubomancy, Dowsing, Dream Interpretation, Scrying, Palmistry.
Please note that some forms of divination may be closely tied to closed practices and cultures and should be treated with respect.
7. Create "companion" cards for your tarot deck OR "companion runes" for rune casting!
This one coincides with idea #2 but it's a concept I love. The idea is you add new symbolic cards/runes based on preference, personal ideas, etc. It's a great way to make your deck feel even more personal to you! You could even find preexisting runes/cards and add those in if you're unsure about creating your own.
8. Make your own divination spreads
Even if you won't nessicarily use them in the moment, or even if you have a lot of spreads saved-- you can still have fun coming up with your own and writing them down to test out in the future! Think about hobbies, interests, or themes you like to inspire you.
9. Multi divination tool readings
Sometimes its fun to figure out how you can use multiple forms of divination. Write down some ideas in your grimoire on how you can possibly incorporate multiple methods so you can test it out in the future!
10. Try to predict your dreams
This one may not be a big favorite for everyone (especially considering you can argue that you'll subconsciously make your dream turn out a certain way because of your reading), but it was a fun activity i used to do when I was a beginner and needed an excuse to practice my skills! I usually would just ask a baseline question like "what will my dream look like overall?" And then from there I would ask more questions to get an idea of what it would look like.
---
I hope my list of ideas were helpful for anyone in a divination slump! I understand they may not be helpful for everyone so feel free to make your own posts with your own ideas! Likewise feel free to comment any other ideas.

book recommendations pt. 1
i read,,, a lot of books. and with a special interest in this shit that means i have a considerable amount of books that are just witchcraft/paganism related. ofc, not all of these are going to be the Best options out there, i know that it's much better to get your information from a primary/secondary source or academic study, but i'm working with what i have and what i know how to get access to. if you have any recommendations or addendums to these, let me know! i'd love to hear what yall have to say.
Tumblr media
THE WITCHY BOOKS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sigil craft: teaches you the basics of creating your own sigils using existing imagery, alphabets, and your own creativity
encyclopedia of magical herbs: honestly just a great resource to have for any witch. i'd say any herbal magic book is a must have for a witch
don't wanna buy the book? here's a great alternative!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
crystal, gem and metal magic: another must have imo!! i prefer this book to the crystal bible because that book/those books spend a long time on chakras, whereas this book is more concerned with things like astrological associations and cultural contexts
don't wanna buy the book? here's a post i made that has some basics
enchanted tea time: love this book, it was honestly such a good find. tbh though, i wish there was more clear warnings about some of the ingredients, and some of the recipes like the lucid dreaming ones could have a more thought out presentation
don't wanna buy the book? here's a post i made that's similar
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the complete book of incense, oils and brews: another great book by scott cunningham (honestly i had no idea how much of a shill i was for him until now), but it's probably not a must-have, especially if you're not very crafty or already have an herbal grimoire and a good youtube tutorial
guided tarot: it is so important to me to have a book like this, because no matter how many little guidebooks and online guides i looked through, NONE were as detailed and accurate as this. i personally prefer this book the most out of all that i've seen, although it could have more information on reversed cards tbh. i prefer this book to seventy-eight degrees of wisdom cause that book has some weird overlapping ideas of qabbalah, although i do recognize it's very well written and thought provoking
Tumblr media Tumblr media
just some good spellbooks!
