hey dude, idk how much you remember from the party last night but- yeah, everyone saw your want. yeah no it was pretty late and winding down so it was quiet enough that every single person there saw it throbbing and twitching in your chest and so wet with hunger it was glistening under the kitchen light. they said it looked like it was reaching for something

Cryptids & Creatures of Folklore Drawtober Day 8 — Wuhnan Toads
There is a lake in remote area of China’s Hubei province that is supposedly home to a hoard of gigantic albino amphibians.
The stories say that these monstrous toads are very dangerous and pose a serious threat to the locals in the area. With some of the toads having a mouth nearly six feet wide, they can easily latch on to a human and drag them down into the murky depths of the lake, never to be seen again.
Supposedly several students from a local university came to study these toads in 1987. They set up cameras on a tripods near the lake but the three of the toads soon emerged from the water. One of the creatures unfurled its massive tongue, snatched up one of the cameras and its tripod, and ate them. It then let out a terrible shriek and returned to the water with its companions.
This tale has some issues, namely with the misspellings of locations—"Wuhnan" was most likely meant to be "Wuhan" for one—though those might have simply been issues with translations but either way, it is still a fun story. And who knows, it might be a good idea to rethink renting that boat for the day lest you encounter one of these critters.

Cryptids & Creatures of Folklore Drawtober Day 20 — Con Rit
Con Rit is the name given to a monstrous oceanic centipede-like creature seen in the seas around Vietnam. It is described as being approximately 60 - 130 feet in length and has a segmented body like a centipede but with fins instead of legs. Some accounts say it has whiskers and a turtle-like head. Several Con Rit carcasses supposedly washed up in 1800s and early 1900s.
There have been sightings of similar giant ocean centipedes in other parts of the world as well. In 1889, John Bailhache reported that he and his crew had witnessed a "weird" creature about twenty miles northeast of Cedros Island off the coast of Baja California. Bailhache said the creature was around 100 feet in length with a segmented body, multiple fins, and no visible eyes. He and his fellow crew members watched it feasting on a dead whale while it made a terrible wheezing sound.
