the shadow and her living doll 🌹🌼 print for montreal otakuthon! come see me at next week from aug 11-13 ✌
you can grab it as a print here if you so wish ! WIPs & other thoughts under the cut
shadows house is such a fantastic series & i wholeheartedly recommend it... the story delves into super dark horror elements but doesn't present itself as a story with no hope. hope must be found and then tenaciously gripped with all one's heart, much like pandora's box. it tickles the victorian gothic part of my brain forever imprinted on me since i was 14 haha...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in the first draft i had marionette strings hanging above the characters (kinda reminds me of Erased.. since I just finished rewatching that ahaha...) & shadow puppet hands on the sides, almost as if gripping each character. i decided against it in the end, to let the characters shine in the spotlight (literally).
i also wanted a more active or lively pose, but kept in line with the stiff victorian portrait style, caused by long camera exposure times. i'm not sure if that worked out better bc i'm unsure if this drawing is interesting to people wahahaha.
initially i also wanted more of a dollhouse theme, but each draft got more and more muddy, so i decided to save it for another day (i'm around ch 90 in the manga, so probably a good call to save a more complex idea until i'm all caught up)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ quick 5 min style test i posted recently! in that post i stated that i wanted to streamline and simplify my art style more, especially after the recent bunch of illustrations i did in the past winter that took way too long to complete, at the sake of my health.
im continually looking for areas to simplify more in my art, but one of the areas i will NOT skimp on is depicting fabric!!!!!
what also helped was working on my sense of structure in my spare time, so that i could be better at depicting form without relying so much on shading to show 3d forms. i love colouring, but i need to be working smarter, not harder from now on. using 100000 shades and highlights is just not feasible anymore wahaha.
in this drawing i loosened up with the bg and kept it rough, inspired by the wonderful xeroxed bgs of 101 dalmatians, and only implied details, rather than actually rendering all of them.
the tldr is that i draw too slowly i just would like to be able to make more drawings more often!!

Random updates on the manga...
After doing some research, I've decided I'll publish the first chapter on Webtoon when it's done. Tho it's not the best for manga-style, it seems to be the most popular, so I thought it would be easiest for people to read.
As a result, I've slighted tweaked the format to be juuuust a bit taller and with larger text so it reads well on mobile/in the app (I did a lot of tweaking and testing for my first pages dhfjdjdj)
Also as a result, I'm gonna have to tone down Genzou's mouth 🤣 Because with high profanity level it said it would automatically label it as mature and I don't want that since it would be only the language doing so (and apparently on Webtoon mature-rated comics get almost no visibility)
I have 17 pages done so far! And haven't even made it to the 4 pages I've already done so it's technically 21 lol (tho I'll need to tweak those a bit to match my new format)
I'll probably divide the first chapter into 3 episodes and publish them all at once since it seems to be recommended that you launch a comic with 3 episodes (which is probably ok anyway as it will likely be a bit long otherwise as one single episode)
I've been listening to nonstop rock Western music playlists on YouTube LOL
I'm going to get so good at drawing horses and horse-related paraphernalia after this (and dogs apparently)
I'm pleasantly surprised by how my BGs have been turning out; they feel soft yet immersive in a way that fits the vibe, and they also don't take me forever and a day to do
Iggy looks so cute in some panels I want to cry
Genzou looks so cute in some panels I almost ascend to another plane
No matter what becomes of this, this has been great for my art. I'm drawing so many new poses and angles and compositions and it's been both challenging and fun. It's a lot of stuff I think will help my future VN work, as well
I mentioned in an ask reply the other day already but I have roles in mind for both Orlam and Gidget already in future chapters if I do continue it, and there will also be a variety of smaller cameos for some other chars, too
Overall, I'm still having fun and can't stop drawing LOL I'm excited every day to work on it and finish more pages 💕

To love or not to love, that is the questio-
Ok whoops wrong reference. Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I made a MV of the song "Darling Dance" by Kairiki Bear featuring my favourite little tricksters for the occasion!
I'd rather you go straight to Youtube to watch it because Tumblr always finds a way to cut the quality, lol.
Eng subtitles are available too!
youtube
Here it is! Hope you enjoy my pride and joy. Basically like a hopeful child but in video format. Reblogs are specially appreciated because Youtube sucks at promoting new channels!
This also acts as a behind-the-scenes post, so let's get straight into that, shall we?
MV Project 1 "Darling Dance"
Illustration time: 37 hours
Editing time: Approx. 30-35 hours
Total: 70 hours
*Cough* Holy freakin' moly does making an MV take so long. Before you roll off your bed, I'll say that part of the reason making the art took so long was because I have trouble drawing Marx consistently.
Tumblr media
Here's some unused assets! Look at them, they're all salty over not making the cut.
In all seriousness though, a lot of times I don't really see a lot of editors/ MV makers getting appreciation for their efforts. And now that I've personally experienced making an MV for the first time, it's also increased my admiration to the people who dedicate their time to this! All the kudos to them.
Now, I'll go scene by scene then comment along the way! Spoilers ahead!
Verse 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pretty good for what it is. In the first image, you see that heart behind Magolor? I discovered the motion of it on complete accident lol. Capcut is hard to figure out..
Tumblr media
I also really like the color palette of 2nd image. That art of Marx was the last one I did during production (aka I drew it this morning), and just look at him. He's such a bastard he's the best.
Pre Chorus 1
Tumblr media
Mmmm yeah it sure is the pre chorus! I put a bar behind the text in the middle because I didn't want people to stare into their soulless eyes for too long. That probably worked!
1st Chorus
Tumblr media
When I first added in the expression change, I fangirled over it a little on the first rewatch. Like, come on! They suddenly look mischievous, and the color change on the background! I know I drew it but still!
For the rest, I experimented a little with all the "Nah"s! I think it ended up well. Most of the lyric editing in this MV is completely original, so I had a couple of things to try out!
Verse 2
Tumblr media
This song is horrifically outdated because it says Twitter instead of X!! (/sarcasm)
This scene is my second favourite. I'm really proud of the details on the tabs and the editing at the beginning! Wish I could put more images but the app only allows ten. Bummer.
Pre Chorus 2
I think it's cute, and I used it as my pfp on YouTube! That's about it though.. image limit is killing me I can't put anything here :(
Chorus 2
...Not gonna spoil it! I like how I drew them, but there ain't anything notable. Unless you look at the last image I put right before the bridge. :)
Bridge
Tumblr media
This is where my editing comes in freakin' clutch. Ooooooh it's so satisfying to look at. Chef's kiss. Also those Marxs (Marxes?) are really cute.
The second part of the bridge is nice as well! I tried to make the lyrics snap to the rhythm. Glad I added that tv effect in the bg too!
Chorus 3
This scene is my favourite! Wanna know why?
Tumblr media
This sequence right here. I think I will etch it into my brain forever... I love me some snappy editing. Like a lot. Like a lot a lot!
The second part of the chorus is like the original song's MV! I loved the hearts popping in and out whoever thought of that is a genius. Putting it into the MV was a good decision!
Tumblr media
And that's a wrap! Hope you enjoy the MV as much as I enjoyed making it. And, stay tuned for next time! I have a feeling a certain jester is getting his own solo MV...
Feel free to leave your thoughts either in the Youtube comments section or here. See you around!

the people seem to be enjoying my pmv and someone said they d like to hear me ramble about it, and i want to ramble about it. so here we go
the struggles of making neglected space
part 1: this thing has been haunting me for at least a year now
so as i said in the description of the video- yes i know this song from the warrior cats map. for those who don t know there s a warrior cats map (multi-animator project) to this song, and it s absolutely beautiful, and you should watch it. it s actually one of my favorite warrior cats maps and that s saying a lot, there s a lot of really good ones-
anyways so i was watching the warrior cats map one day and. i don t remember exactly which part of the song it was, but i believe it was the line that goes "save me the ache of slow decay", that i heard and i was like, haha that kinda sounds like rain world. and then i listened to the rest of the song. and i was like holy shit this DOES sound like rain world- i mean. i think i realised this after i d had the idea for the pmv, but the song is literally about an abandoned building slowly deteriorating, there are very few stories where your characters are literally abadoned buildings lol, it just works too well
the final version of the pmv is in fact not my first attempt at making it- i always imagined the finished thing with beautiful colored backgrounds and some fully animated segments and cool lighting (probably because of the warrior cats map, which, again, is really beautiful) but i didn t think i d be able to pull that off. the final thing is 4 and a half minutes long, which doesn t sound like a lot, but my previous longest ever animatic was 3 minutes long and nowhere near as detailed and i spent the entirety of last summer on that one. this was a big project
the first attempt at making neglected space was in october 2023. i decided that i wasn t gonna do the pretty bgs and fancy lighting, but i was going to animate it! well, not exactly animated, more like manual frame by frame twinning (kind of like what i did for the terrible things saint animatic, but a bit smoother) it was going to have different color palettes for all the different flashbacks and stuff, but i only ever got the first 4 shots done
youtube
(unlisted yt video because tumblr won t let me put more than 1 video in a post)
i think the reason i gave up on it the first time is because i was trying to make it in an animation program, and my poor laptop could not handle it- it was really laggy and annoying to draw in, so i just gave up eventually. i really don t like the art for it anymore
oh yeah, it should be mentioned, i have a kind of dumb way of making my animatics. apparently some people make them in animation programs. i just draw everything in a drawing program, save all the pieces as pngs and edit them together at the end. idk if that s weird but that s how i ve always done it lol
attempt no 2 was in april 2024. this attempt got a bit further, i got to the shot of survivor and monk reaching for eachother in the void (so i d made about a minute of it). i didn t get to editing everything i had drawn of it, but here s the first few shots of it
youtube
oh yeah, this is the one where i got the idea to write the lyrics in the color of which character in meant to be saying them :D i think it looks a lot cooler as subtitles tho. that yellow was barely visible on some of the bg colors
i think i gave up on this one cuz i just got burnt out. i still thought the idea was cool. but in my head i was still imagining it very beautifully rendered and i didn t like a lot of the art i d made for this attempt, so i gave up
attempt no 3 is from may 2024, and this one was colored! this time i had actually planned out some of the color palettes
Tumblr media
and this one was once again going to be kind of animated! still making it in my drawing program (even tho i think this was after i got my new laptop that i have now, but i wasn t gonna try with the animation program again), but it was essentially gonna look like the final one, except with slightly nicer color palettes and slightly less detailed bgs. this one didn t get very far
youtube
it is the only one that didn t get to the shot with the title. i assumed that i got burned out so quickly because i was trying to make it so detailed, so i decided that even tho i really want to make it as pretty as it is in my head, that s probably not going to happen
i briefly fantasized about making neglected space a storyboarded map, but then i remembered that i ve never hosted a map before and no one knows who i am so that would take forever to be finished and probably wouldn t end up looking exactly how i wanted it. still, a fun thought
attempt no 4 was called "neglected space storyboard edition", in honor of the idea of making it a storyboarded map. i knew that wasn t happening, but i was like ok, i just want to see some version of this idea realised. let s just make it some messy sketches, as if it was the storyboard of a map. just to see it put to paper. i never edited any of it together, but here s some bits of it!
Tumblr media
ah yes, this was during the very brief time when i was drawing iterators with 3 fingers on their hands to match the scugs. i would still do that but drawing these guys is the only reason i somewhat know how to draw hands and i don t want to lose my practice so. i don t do that anymore. but it s fun.
i actually still really like the art for this one!! the colors are nice and at this point my style was pretty close to how it is now. in fact for the shot of survivor and monk in the void in the final version, i was struggling with drawing it and i ended up just using the sketches from this version lol
this one s fine. but again in my head this thing had always been beautifully rendered and i just wasn t happy with it as a low effort animatic
and then summer vacation came
and i had spent the entirety of last summer vacation making the fall, my previous biggest project, that i was really proud of. and now i had the time and i felt the need to work on another big animatic
and i was like. fuck it. we re making neglected space
and we re making it beautiful, with beautiful shading, and beautiful fully rendered backgrounds, and if i feel the need to animate bits of it then i am. i m making this thing the way it is in my head if it s the last thing i do.
and i did. i m kind of surprised i finished it, but then again i kind of think i did it out of spite. usually i get bored of big projects and take months long breaks but for this one i never did. i really wanted to make this thing man
see you in part 2 for more rambling about how i made the one i actually finished!

whats with the whitewash
Usually I don’t take crit or commentary from anonymous posters seriously. But what I do take seriously is my responsibility as an artist to avoid whitewashing, and would never want someone to feel like I was disrespecting any person by lightening their skin tone.
Because of your vague comment I’m not entirely sure what this in regards to, but I’m assuming it’s my Vinesh/Cam doodle as it’s the only art with people in it that is getting notes rn.
So I’m going to go over my process in choosing colors when drawing a real person, and let you decide whether or not to continue consuming my work.
First, I search out multiple different reference pictures of the person, specifically looking for a couple things— different clothes/days (ideally different seasons if I can) different backgrounds at least mid/light/dark, and a pic in comparison to other folks. With athletes like Vinesh, she’s often under white stage or gym lights from above which is nice as an artist because it keeps that variable a little more consistent.
Skin tone is something that changes A LOT based on environment and time of year even with white folks, so you can’t just pick from one image—especially if you’re doing a different color bg in your final image. Below were mine. I knew I didn’t want to fuss with a bg since this was supposed to be a quick warmup, so I specifically looked for the bottom right one with a close-to-white bg (though it does have a bit of a red cast from something off screen)
Tumblr media
Then, I decide how many colors I want for whatever I’m drawing— longer paintings I’ll color pick about 5 to start, but for short things like this I’ll go for 3. I also find comparing to other people helps me personally isolate the undertones of my subject. Thankfully Vinesh has plenty of wrestling pics I can use like this one against Japan’s Yui Susaki.
I usually like color picking from the neck or upper arm as these have less color variation than the face, joints, or hands. I find blurring areas of the image helps me get a more accurate/average color pick of each area.
Tumblr media
Now for this doodle I did omit the darkest darks and lightest lights, but you can see below with the saturation removed the colors I selected are very close in value. especially in my white-ish BG pic. I’ve hilighted the areas of darkest darks where I chose to just use the mid-dark at the edges of these shadows. Adding those darkest shadows would definitely give more form to the image, but for a quick sketch I didn’t feel they were necessary.
Tumblr media
Below is the pic with the darkest darks added in— figured if I was spending this much time showing my work I might as well add them.
Tumblr media
Ultimately, it’s not my place as a white artist to absolve myself, or decide whether or not I’ve done harm with this drawing. Whitewashing and colorism are rampant in the art world, and I understand being on high alert for it. However, I hope you can see my thought process when choosing values, and that I did not choose lighter colors for the drawing than the reference pictures of the athlete herself.

[In Primis Richtofen's voice] It is done.
After 3 days of work, and sore fingers, I finally completed my gift for my Internet besties!!!
If you three remember when I asked for Shin and Julia's self insert references, I never said what I was cooking up. But now, you three will get to see what I've made for y'all! And I hope you like them because drawing new characters in my style can be HARD
Without further ado, here's my gift to my besties!!
Tumblr media
@shinmiyovvi/Shin! I admit I had a lot of fun making your self insert in my style! It was definitely hard in some spots (Looking at you, outfit /lh) but overall, I'm definitely proud of how I did! The tired bean has yet to suffer by my hands, so rest assured, she is alright ^^
Tumblr media
@aliceindaisychains999/Maddie! Of course I couldn't leave my dear older sister out of this, so I drew her too! 💖 Ive drawn her before, so she was easier to maneuver in my style, but I think I made her look adorable! I loved using one of the flower brushes for the bg!
Tumblr media
Last but certainly not least, @jamieaiken919/Julia! I ended up using the more modern rendition of your self insert, and honestly, I'm proud of how I did! I even gave her a fox plushie (which was definitely harder to draw than I thought 😅) as well!
I hope you three enjoy my little present to you all! It took. A lot of time to adapt Shin and Julia to my style but I had a lot of fun making everyone! Know you guys are all amazing and I'm glad to know y'all as my friends 💖💖💖

I decided to change up the formula for this post because I am just so fuckin proud of how this turned out so a rant about my progress and work on this peice under the cut!
HAZAH! BEHOLD!
FOR I BRING ANOTHER DRAWING TODAY!
This one is called The new Starmaker!
It is based off of an AU/HC I had for a while based on the fact that the more Crowley (as an angel) began to question things during his conversation with Azi his wings turned darker and darker.
Sooo...
What if, days, hours maybe even moments before his fall...
His wings became a galaxy, an omen of hope for him that maybe he was doing the right thing questioning things before God struck him down.
But yeah! All in all, I am really proud of this one♥️, it took me half a day to finish in total because Pixel studios kept crashing on me. Fuck you Pixel Studios (I love you) and I actually did two vers of the BG on this one!
So let's look at it together!
So this is Ver. 1
Tumblr media
-Basically just a void behind him, I thought it added a nice contrast and people I showed it to seemed to like it but when I came back to look at it I dunno
-It just kinda felt bland, ya know?
-Like yes the colors do contrast nicely and the lil stars around him pop more but eeeeeh
-I dunno, I just didn't vibe with it with that bg
So I went to Ver. 2!
Tumblr media
-I liked this one a lot more than the original one because why yes, I am a sucker for color
-Oh and it gave me the chance to test out the brushes Pixel has to offer
-I really like the cross looking ones!
-Okay but back onto the art
-I just genuinely liked the vibe of this one more than the last
-(Also got to give my boi a halo so WAHOO)
-And I got to play around with a lot of details for the bg and stuff
So with that out of the way, as a closing touch I wanna just show off some of the bits I had the most fun with while doing this!
(Again, click for better quality)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So first off! I had so much fun with the bg gradients it isn't even funny. Like the lil pixels scratch my brain just right when I drew them.
Oh and the wings. They were REALLY fucking fun to draw.
Love em, need em, gonna do more of them soon ^^
But my most favourite part of this was ♥️Crowley's hair!♥️
Like I just zoned out for a good forty minutes, made the hair look like a galaxy on accident, had the program crash on me and erase all the progress and do it all over again.
But like.
In my not so humble opinion (because I have the ego the size of a blue whale, deal with it) I think it turned out TERRIFIC!
Like I just MWAH!
I love how I drew it!
===×=×==×
But yeah, that's pretty much it! Thank chu for reading my art rant and see you on the next post, baiii!

inktober 2024 review
Completed Inktober 2024! Last time I did this was in 2018, with some dinky little doodles in a notebook. Now I'm learning digital 💪
Prompts were from the QZGS rarepair week for 2024 and 2023. Next year perhaps I'll continue going down the list. I tried to have a specific area/skill I wanted to work on with each day.
Sharing my favorites here! The rest are all at @synco-arts. Please click for full size / colors!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5) "fragile": [RS] This is my favorite shot of the Rainbow Sea OP, which is already such a banger full of symbolism and narrative. The way this moment is directed to make you think you're watching Maidang himself, until the moment he punches and the mirror shatters and you realize—oh, his Rainbow Stone was on the wrong wrist, it was a reflection all along. Timed to the music, it's so excellently done...
9) "wait": [GFS] X waits, alone and helpless, for news of his father's surgery. He can only watch from afar, and the framing of the background is meant to evoke his car window. He didn't want news of his current situation to cause stress that would worsen his father's heart condition, but his absence is already causing stress enough—yet this was the only course he felt he could take to save his family...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
13) "caution": [RS] I love Tang Wude and I love this moment, what can I say? Strolls in looking wack and casual, and then immediately establishes dominance over a crew of criminals. Umbrella users my beloved. This one might be my favorite overall due to all the colors and lighting, and the background was so much fun to draw!
17) "precious": [YB2] Eighth Room is so precious to me. Just look at them! I think this was the one I spent the most time on? This is a redraw of a shot from one of the reality shows the actors filmed together. Spent some time debating what hairstyles to give them; I need to give it some more thought still.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
18) "abandon": [TKA] I want to get better at putting together nice sketch pages! Also at hands lol. I was surprised? impressed? that I managed to make Tyranny ZJL look older and more tired compared to HB ZJL—I'm not sure if it was even so distinct in the original.
19) "past": [YB1] I liked the composition of these images, and drawing this moment upon the brushstrokes of the background. I think about this flashback and cri everytime
Tumblr media Tumblr media
23) "foreign": [YB2] I wanted to practice side profiles, didn't like how his turned out, but then really DID like the second sketch I did, which was way more fun than I anticipated. He looks cool! Maybe too cool. The extremely intricate outfits are fun to depict in sketch form, and I like his hairstyle here even though everyone was roasting it lol. The lines of the background are just roughly meant to evoke what was actually in the bg of the reference shot, but I quite liked the effect.
25) "freedom": [YB2] I just really like how Chu Niao turned out here, with the details of her costume and her expression. Look at them talking about their future 🥺
Tumblr media Tumblr media
26) "peak": [YB2] I think this was the only painterly one I did, but I liked how the vibes turned out—the half-obscured fire, the costume of a god, the crouched figures, the distant mountains and clouds. A unique shot that should be very distinct to those who've watched.
29) "color": [YB2] As you can see I was feeling very emo about YB2 in the latter half of the month haha. This was such an emotionally charged scene and there are 3000 words packed into Wen Wuqi's glance back as Hua Cishu carefully avoids meeting the gaze of someone he's not supposed to know...

A little update before I proceed to babble: The vibes are no longer vibing. A couple days ago I had just completely packed everything away (besides the essentials) when I got the news that my new place won't be ready till (maybe) April. There's no problem with staying a while longer at my current place but it's a majorly infuriating inconvenience as you can imagine. Why say it was "move-in ready" when it's not? Anyway, I haven't slacked on practising drawing our fangy boy. The sketches are coming out better than I thought they ever would (though I'm sure if I tried to draw a different face it would look like shit XD).
Babble: Seeing your Lucifer reblogs makes my heart ache, in a good(?) way. Does it sound stupid to say, though, that no matter how much I love Lucifer, I don't think I can watch it again? I can watch clips and stuff but I can't exactly explain the feeling I get when I think of rewatching it, especially concerning season 6. I guess I want to memorialize those feelings I got watching S6 when it came out, to not... overwrite them by watching it again I suppose. I dunno, it's a bit hard to articulate any better than that. It sounds dumb, even to me but at the same time, it makes sense? I really don't know lol. I don't feel this way with any other show I've watched, and I think it has something to do with how beautifully it ended (I cannot hear MCR without thinking about the end). They wrapped it up with such care and with so much thought behind everything, it's almost like they set out to completely ruin me for any other show. Lucifer set the bar too high, and someone superglued it in place.
Aw man, just when you've got your ducks in a row the pond's dried up. Well, at least April isn't that far away. Is there any place you can voice your complaints to? Sometimes it helps to give the wheels a push. I haven't been drawing much, but I did set aside some monies to commission one of my fav artists for some bg art which i am pleased by immensely. I'm gonna get it printed and place it on my shelf.
I've really been enjoying the resurgence of Lucifer love, so I figured I would do my part and reblog some sets. Plus i have like 7k likes and need to get those in a queue dear god. I was bracing myself when you mentioned s6! It seems all I see these days is negatively to it was a breath of fresh air to read your feelings about it. I'm fairly neutral when it comes to the final season. There were things that worked for me and things that didn't, but in the end, Chloe and Lucifer are together forever and that's what I wanted. The absolutely ridiculous nonsense on twitter gives me an apoplexy.
Anyways, I'm glad you sent an ask in, I have been thinking of you lately! Hopefully things will work out with the new place soon (fingers crossed) and always feel free to pop in and chat about life, bg, or lucifer! I'm all pointy ears, my love.

✮⋆˙ Fringe is Fun! - An interview with Slugtrain ✮⋆˙
In a sit-down interview with the talented Gabby Golec, known online as Slugtrain, we delve into the depths of Sanctuary, their first solo exhibition. The show is a captivating fusion of elements offering insightful explorations into themes of identity, belonging and the unique bonds formed within fringe subcultures.
Gabby is a multidisciplinary illustrator and comic artist based in Toronto. They are currently in their final year of Illustration at OCAD University. Their work often explores the contradictory forms of soft yet jagged bodies, capturing them with spontaneity and vulnerability. Gabby also enjoys drawing bugs and people in love.
Let’s begin.
Glowball (GB): I'm with Gabby Golec, also known as Slugtrain. Please tell me more about the username Slugtrain. Where does that come from?
Slugtrain (ST): The name 'Slug Train' for my username has a funny story. I didn't always go by this name online; it struck me when I considered changing my old username. My family is from Poland, and I visit occasionally. It's interesting because, unlike here, Poland has loads of slugs and snails. As a kid, I was fascinated with slugs. I used to collect them and watch them move around together. They were the only insects that never really bothered me, and I've grown to like insects more over time. I took this photo of slugs moving in a line when I was fifteen, almost like a train. That image stuck with me, and when I was brainstorming for a new username, I thought, 'Why not Slug Train?' I knew I wanted something with slugs because I've always had this particular fondness for them.
BG: That’s a fun story, all moving together like a train.
ST: Yeah, It was bizarre, but there are so many of them there, especially when it rains; you must be careful where you step. My family is more so in the countryside of southern Poland, so there is more green space for them to roam than in the cities. It’s so fun to see all the different types of slugs when I’m there; one of my favourites is the leopard slug. They’re just so interesting, fun and slimy.
GB: Would you ever have a slug pet?
ST: I have had pet snails; during COVID, I had three of them in an enclosure that I would maintain, feed, and take care of every day, but they started to mate, and that only happens when they get comfortable with their partner. Once that began, it didn’t stop, and I had to get rid of them; it was just becoming a problem. And around that time, I had to move back to Toronto, so I had to let them go. They were getting too frisky. But yeah, I did have some pet snails. I wanted a slug, but finding them around here is hard.
GB: Could you tell me more about you and what sparks your interest in art?
ST: I've been into art since I was little, primarily because of my older sister. She was super good at it when we were kids, and I wanted to be like her. Back then, I wasn't the artsy one in the family; that was all her. But seeing her do her thing pushed me to try harder, you know? It's funny, though, that she eventually stopped doing art, and I ended up being the art person in our family.
GB: Switch out.
ST: Yeah.
GB: Okay, interesting. So you have an older sister who was an artist?
ST: Yeah, She's four years older than me. My sister was really into realism and loved making art; she also introduced me to anime, which I love now. But she chose not to pursue it professionally because it wasn't what our parents expected—this pressure on older siblings to set an example, especially with immigrant parents. As the younger one, I got more freedom to explore my interests. She's been a massive inspiration in my life. When you have an older sister, you want to be as cool as they are, hang out with their friends, and get into what they're into.
ST: Now a little bit about me, I never know what to say.
GB: It's a difficult one.
ST: I've always had a deep love for art, which naturally blended with my interest in online spaces and various hobbies. Growing up, I was very active online, and my passion for art complemented my love for shows, cartoons, and anime. These interests made it a natural choice for me to continue with art. Now, that passion has evolved into attending art school and pursuing it full-time.
GB: You mentioned that you were online a lot. Does this influence your art in some way?
ST: I grew up playing online MMORPGs like Gaia Online and Fiesta, along with games like Club Penguin and Neopets. That era was a new web game for kids, and I loved interacting with others online. This influences my art. I've never been a fan of creating realistic art, though I admire those who can. I've always found it challenging to replicate things accurately. So, I turned this into a strength in my work, enjoying playing with forms and bodies, even if the anatomy isn't correct. That's what makes art enjoyable.
GB: That's amazing. Let's discuss your work some more; Sanctuary is your first solo show?
ST: It is my first solo show; I've been planning for just under a year.
GB: Nice. Many pieces are on display, so I'm sure it took a while.
ST: Most of the works are from this year, with a few older ones. Initially, I had no specific theme in mind. I often find setting and sticking to a particular theme challenging, so I just continued drawing in my free time. Over time, I realized a recurring element in my work: an interest in anthropomorphized characters. This theme emerged organically, becoming more apparent when I put all my pieces together. It's fascinating how art can reveal themes you don't consciously plan. Our creative instincts guide these choices, often unnoticed, until we view our work critically from an outside perspective. The theme only clicked for me a few months before the show, and I thought, 'Ah, this is it!’.
GB: That intuitive way of creating works is incredible. We are so used to following rules or guidelines, especially in school, so you don't pressure yourself to stick with a specific plan and just let your art happen organically.
ST: Totally.
GB: Can you tell me more about the key inspirations that prompted you to create and present Sanctuary and its content?
ST: For this exhibition I was inspired to bring a particular type of work into an academic fine arts setting. In art school, like OCAD, there are strict rules and guidelines, especially in my illustration program. This is quite different from how I work as an illustrator, and I've felt discouraged by professionals and professors from creating this kind of art. So, the main idea of the show was to create a welcoming space for those who feel marginalized in society for enjoying things considered 'cringe' or 'silly.' I wanted to offer a space where people can connect in person, not just online, with art that isn't traditionally seen as professional. The goal was to demonstrate that this art deserves a place in professional settings. I know friends who make a living creating anime art, furry art, and even fursuits, showing incredible talent and finding success. A thriving community of artists travels the world, selling their work at anime and furry conventions to a supportive audience. This show is about recognizing the value of this art, giving it a space to be seen and appreciated.
GB: I attended the opening night of your show, and after passing through another gallery, I immediately felt a sense of relief upon entering yours. The atmosphere was welcoming and calm, starkly contrasting with the often intimidating vibe of fine art settings, making the idea of a safe space very tangible.
ST: It's lovely to hear that you enjoyed the opening night; it was an incredible experience for me, too, especially as my first show. My main aim was to create a welcoming space for people to connect over shared interests in real life. The atmosphere naturally evolved into a safe distance because my work has a specific demographic which are people who usually fall into the categories of queer, trans, neurodivergent, and people who are autistic. These individuals don't feel comfortable sharing their special interests with others because they've been pushed down for sharing these things their entire lives. So, the audience found their way to the show through word of mouth or posters around the school, creating a vibe distinct from a typical gallery opening. Interestingly, having another opening simultaneously which highlighted how different art can influence the atmosphere of a space. I'd love to host a super professional opening one day with features like live music. However, the essence of my work and its audience naturally shapes the event's nature so I’m not sure if I could ever emulate that type of environment exactly. We all come from various online communities, and this common thread brings us together.
GB: What role does the concept of a safe space play in your exhibition, particularly in furry culture?
ST: I've noted how fringe subcultures like the furry fandom, often viewed as taboo in society, provide deep and meaningful avenues for self-expression, especially in online spaces. These communities are vital for individuals with social anxiety, as they offer a safe space to embody characters that resonate with their traits, often suppressed due to societal norms. Predominantly made up of queer, trans, autistic, neurodivergent, non-binary, disabled individuals, and those with mental health issues like BPD, depression, and anxiety, these online fandoms become sanctuaries. Hence, the exhibition's title, 'Sanctuary,' aims to translate this online community into a physical space, allowing people to share and celebrate their special interests freely. This is especially vital for neurodivergent individuals, like those with autism, who often feel their intense passions are misunderstood or dismissed. The goal is to foster an environment where everyone is eager to share and listen without judgment. The online aspect of these fandoms is critical; as someone who is Autistic, I know it's easy to get back and forth going online when, in human conversations, I go on a tangent, so being online is a very crucial aspect of the fandom itself and the people who are in it.
GB: So the show focused on displaying fringe subcultures such as furries; I'm curious how the anthropomorphized entities in your work represent different facets or complexities of love and connection. What do they reveal about these emotions that human figures might not?
ST: In my work, anthropomorphized characters represent domestication quite literally. The characters resemble household pets, like dogs, cats, hamsters, chinchillas, and rats, emphasizing animals that humans care for as pets. This theme explores love versus ownership in human-animal relationships and the inherent co-dependency. By using anthropomorphized forms, I question the nature of relationships involving ownership, whether co-dependency, a kink, or something else. The juxtaposition in my art highlights the parallels and contrasts between human-human, human-animal, and animal-animal relationships.
GB: Can you speak more about anthropomorphized identities and personas used online?
ST: In creating personal personas, especially within the furry and adjacent cultures, individuals can craft idealized versions of themselves. This process allows for anonymity, as no one needs to know your appearance. It's particularly empowering for those with insecurities or those grappling with their gender identity. By developing a character, they can explore and express aspects of themselves that may not feel safe or comfortable in their real-life environments. Online, there's less negative pushback, mainly because many people in these spaces are also trans or queer, creating a more accepting and understanding community.
GB: What aspects of furry culture were most important to showcase in this exhibition?
ST: There are stigmas and misconceptions about furry culture, often stemming from a few individuals who don't represent the whole community. This happens in any fandom. There are just a few bad apples. I aimed to highlight the safe space and community aspect central to the furry culture and extend to other fringe online subcultures like anime, comics, and cartoons. The idea is to create a communal space for furries and anyone who finds resonance in this art. My opening attracted a diverse crowd, not all of them are furries, but they are people connected with the themes of nostalgia and escapism in my work. It's about revisiting childhood joys to escape adult life's complexities, a key element in my art.
GB: Are there any challenges you face as an artist who incorporates fringe subcultures?
ST: There are challenges stemming from individuals who are not open-minded about these subcultures and have preconceived expectations about what these groups are about. Despite the furry fandom and similar subcultures promoting positive self-expression, they're frequently mischaracterized as hyper-sexual or inappropriate. This perception is primarily due to media portrayals and the actions of a few individuals at conventions rather than any comprehensive research. While there is a sexual aspect within furry culture, this is not unique to it; many fandoms and online cultures have similar elements. And yes, there is a sexual nature within furry culture; I'm not trying to dismiss that at all, but this aspect shouldn't overshadow the broader, more inclusive nature of the culture.
GB: Of course, it is a little kinky, but that's not what it's all about.
ST: Yes, some furries integrate their interest into their sex life, while others don't, and that's entirely up to individual preference. However, this aspect shouldn't lead to discrimination or stigmatization, as such misconceptions can harm the community by perpetuating negative stereotypes and hindering societal acceptance. Not everyone will appreciate my work, and that's okay. My art naturally attracts a specific demographic that shares or is curious about my interests and experiences. Creating this type of art does have its challenges. Some might label it as 'cringe,' but generally, the response has been positive. Many people find it intriguing, like a longtime friend who recently said my show helped her truly understand me and the furry culture. While not everyone will connect with my work, and that's normal, the appreciation from those who do matters most to me.
GB: Do the negative comments you receive impact you?
ST: Honestly, those negative comments do get to me. It's strange how I can receive a hundred compliments, but that one negative remark sticks with me. It can be pretty disheartening at times. However, I constantly remind myself of the positive impact of my work. Most people genuinely connected with my art on the opening night and felt passionate about it. Remembering their enthusiasm and appreciation helps me to keep moving forward. So, I focus on the positive feedback. Screw the haters.
GB: It's understandable how negative feedback can be impactful, significantly, when it overshadows a multitude of positive reactions.
ST: Yeah, exactly, and it's pretty ironic because my show is titled 'Sanctuary,' yet there are still people who don't understand it and continue to hate it. Not everyone will like your work, and that's normal. Even my parents, for instance, need help understanding what my work is about. They're immigrants and have a different perspective on art, especially contemporary art, so I understand their viewpoint. It's normal for some people not to appreciate my work, which I've accepted. What's important to me is the handful of people who connect with and like my work. Their appreciation is what truly matters.
GB: In your work, you balance elements of innocence and softness with darker, more complex undertones. Is this nuanced contrast a commentary on how society perceives specific themes or issues superficially without acknowledging the underlying complexities?
ST: Yes, I often incorporate soft, cute imagery in my work, reflecting life as I observe it. This choice is influenced by the idea that there's always a secondary, more profound aspect to how we perceive things. It's challenging to explain, but I've always been attracted to cute styles, probably stemming from my childhood interests in anime, My Little Pony, and Sanrio, introduced to me by my sister. This attraction is partly my way of coping with real-life issues—a form of nostalgia, using appealing visuals to mask darker themes. It's especially relevant in depicting co-dependent relationships, which often appear sugar-coated, disguised as something innocent and cute rather than overtly problematic.
GB: I've noticed that shackles and chains are recurring motifs on the entities in your artworks. Can you explain their significance?
ST: These elements primarily symbolize co-dependency and ownership. Fashion inspires my work, notably spiked accessories, chokers, chains, leashes, etc. I enjoy blending these bold fashion elements with innocent themes and creatures in my art. This juxtaposition is even on the show poster, where these contrasting styles come together.
GB: With so many unique pieces in the exhibition, do you have a favourite or one that stands out? Could you share its significance?
ST: Choosing a favourite is always challenging, but one piece that stands out is the one I adapted for the show's poster. Seeing it evolve from a marker illustration to a risograph and then a digital print was fascinating. Another notable piece is the Fursona painting in the main display; the last one I completed for the show. It's significant because it's larger than my usual work, and I created it under unique circumstances. I was ill while working on it, so it took longer than expected, as I could only work on it in small bursts. The piece became very personal, unintentionally evolving into my fursona with details like the green hair and attachments like the tail, a personal item I often wear. The chain from a pet store has been used as an accessory of mine for years, and even the anime figure in the painting is mine. This work embodies my love for silliness and randomness, filled with personal stickers and objects, which is why it means so much to me.
GB: As we conclude, what's next for you? You're in your final year of illustration at OCAD. Do you have anything lined up as you finish?
ST: Currently, I'm working on my thesis, which is quite challenging, especially while organizing this show. The thesis is very detailed and structured so I'm starting to lose interest in it. That's one reason I'm glad about this show; it's something I'm proud of in my final year. My plan to focus more on comics, continue tabling at events, and sell my work. I've started participating in conventions and comic events this year, and it's been a great experience. I'm excited to keep sharing my work in these spaces.
GB: Do you have a final note for the future?
ST: Stay true to yourself. When you feel discouraged, keep pushing forward. Whether drawing your favourite character or creating fan art, do what you love. My work inspires people to embrace and express their true selves.

I HAVE FINALLY FINISHED MY RENDERS/LAYOUTS/WHATEVER FOR MY ENSTARS OC….. and now i will dump a bunch of information about her 🤲🏽
Tumblr media
here’s some outfits for her!! tbh the winter one was made on the spot soooo idk if it’ll actually stay
here’s the faux scout cards <3 they took way too long to make and yes i stole the bg of the second one from mika’s card (the first is also from the game). i’m not drawing a background
Tumblr media Tumblr media
heres some more info about her. no organization im just gonna spout some rapid fire facts. keep in mind she is a little bit (a lot bit) of a self indulgent oc <3
-she is what i am dubbing a fill-in idol. essentially, she’s an idol who fills in for other units when they’re missing a member for a performance . this is why she works with valkyrie most often (she can take the roll of shu or nazuna for ex songs)
-her first name comes from a song (hikari by royal scandal). no real reason i just like the song lol
-she left switch on very good terms (she’s still besties with all 3 of them). she just left because she thought the unit functioned better as a trio (“you three shine brighter on stage without me~”) she still performs with them from time to time though (usually for smaller audiences, or she just joins them for practice)
-she’s been friends with mika since before they entered yumenosaki (they applied together), and became close to arashi in her first year too. she had planned on trying out for valk alongside him, but got caught up with switch
-speaking of switch! she runs into tsumugi on the day that he first visits the library (with the key rei gives him to get into the secret area) and recognizes him as one of the fine members . she goes with him to the library and meets natsume there (same scene as canon just. she’s there .) she gets along really well with him (and with mugi), which is why she ends up as a member of switch during her second year.
-she used to have a crush on nazuna (product of watching the performances and going to mika’s practices) . not really relevant i just wanted to throw it out there. does she have a crush on someone now? i don’t know
-her last name (yuuta) is intentionally the same as my twst oc, aurelia . they are sisters (aurelia is the older one by a year and a few months -(her bday is 2/2)). my thought is that when aurelia is sent to the world of twst, somehow the people who know her in her or world forget about her, so hikari doesn’t remember her as of now .
-she works part time at the same diner/restaurant/whatever as niki. he has to teach her a Lot about cooking though (she’s getting better)
-she absolutely Hates hates hatesssss rinne and crazy:b when they first start to cause trouble. she’s very protective over her friends and the other idols at es. even though she dislikes eichi for everything he did, she recognizes and appreciates the work he’s put into making es. she doesn’t like how crazy:b throws themselves into others live shows (live shows are so important and personal to units!!), and she gets very snappy and upset with them for it. however, she does her best to keep the peace when she’s around them because they’re under the same agency. after the main story stuff in !! finished though she begins to understand the position rinne +the bees were in, and she starts to forgive them and grow somewhat close to them. i would put them in the frenemies area
-i think her shuffle unit would be flambé!…? i tried to make it branco since they only have 4 members, but since she works with sora so often i think that disqualifies her. i really would like her to be in blend+ but again. same problem
-i think she’s close with anzu too. girlies gotta stick together! her, anzu and naru can go out for girls nights together
-the only unit she doesn’t really fill in for is 2wink because . the whole twin dynamic. kinda hard to replace one . and mam/doubleface obv
ok i’m running out of thoughts it’s 12am but that’s my oc!!!! if u read all of this thank you i love u <3

Norvale Devlog #1
Hello! we’re Alchemilla studios and we’re here to present to you our very first devlog for Norvale!
Alchemilla Studios
First things first, we want to introduce to you Alchemilla studios and how we came to be.
We’re currently just a two-person team, consisting of Mari and nana, and a few years back we thought of making a visual novel and actually had an idea for a really big concept. However, we thought that it would be too much time and effort for beginners like ourselves, so we put that vn idea at the side and thought of making a simple one first and that led to Norvale.
While coming up with the name for our group, we thought using a flower's name based on its meaning would help encompass the type of content we want to make. The floriography for Alchemilla means "a comforting love", which felt like a good fit for us since we mainly want to create simple, easygoing content for people to enjoy while they relax and unwind after a stressful day. We might throw in a little angst here and there (lol), but for the most part, we want to try and create things that give people a sense of comfort in the midst of their busy lives.
Tumblr media
As for the medium of our projects, we're currently focusing on visual novels and are interested in creating webnovels as well. We're still figuring things out but we hope to branch out into more mediums in the future!
Norvale
Tumblr media
1. Concept
We came up with the plot for Norvale on a whim really lol
I (nana) thought to make a cute little story about someone that visited their childhood home again and relived the memories they had with a friend and a promise they made. The story went through a lot of changes and ideas to the point Mari had no idea what the story was even about anymore, before we decided on the current plot of Norvale.
The core idea was always to have a simple story since this is the first time making a visual novel for both of us. We’re the only two people working on it so we didn’t want to add too many elements and get overwhelmed.
As for how we came up with the name Norvale…it was a name we picked from a list of generated town names lol
2. Development
Story and Characters
Like we mentioned before, we wanted to keep the story simple and straightforward. As such, we broke the main story into 3 places that the player can visit. Where they go will be based on which item is chosen: the Marble, the Candy Wrapper or the Button.
Each place visited has a different character(s) the player gets to interact with. All the characters that you’ll run into are people the player character, Morgan has spent time with as a child.
※ Only the Candy Wrapper route is available in the demo.
Tumblr media
Character Design
In line with keeping things simple for Norvale, the characters are also fairly simple in design! I was initially going to add shading and highlights to the sprite art but I quite like how the flat base colors look so I left it like that. It also personally makes it faster to deal with any adjustments or changes required when I don't have to worry about shading and highlighting an area over again lol
Tumblr media
Background Art
Backgrounds were probably the biggest difficulty art wise since I've never really drawn them before. And the few that I did draw in the past...weren't very good lol
So I'm probably the most surprised by how decent they turned out 😂
Tumblr media
There's still lots of room for improvement but I've learned a lot from drawing the bgs in the demo so please look forward to (hopefully) better looking backgrounds from now on (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
UI design
We sort of had a general concept to use a scrapbook/journal design for the UI. Since the premise of the story was for Morgan (player character) to reminisce about their time in their childhood town. So a scrapbook and journal type of design was what we envisioned.
It's still quite a simple design as we're still getting used to designing UI (tools and techniques) for visual novels 😅
I mostly used photoshop and figma. I used figma to design some of the components while I used photoshop to lay them out and other design/color customization.
I'm still figuring out the best tools for me, so hopefully I'll get better.
Tumblr media
Ren'py Dev
Developing on Ren’py was relatively easy to pick up, however other customizations, I (mari) needed to figure out and research online, especially for some features that nana wanted to implement, but had to push back to the full version as I didn’t know how to do them in time for the demo release.
But I definitely learned alot in developing vns on Ren’py, and hopefully I get to do more UI and feature dev to fully customize our future projects.
3. Demo
We released our demo in time for SuNoFes 2022, as we thought it would be a good place to get feedback as well as place a deadline on ourselves, since we both just went on our own pace when developing the assets.
We definitely went through alot of trial and error with the art, sprites and development on ren’py, but we were figuring it out our vision for the game as we went along.
We’re still figuring out a proper workflow for the both of us, as well as the practices other visual novel groups do for their projects. If you have any suggestions, we’re open to them! hehe
Moving Forward
Current Progress In Norvale Post-Demo:
We recently finished finalizing the story for the Craft Store and are currently working on character designs for the characters that will be present in it.
Further Improvements After the Demo Release:
We've received feedback on the demo from players via our satisfaction survey and will be improving the game based on that. We also plan to rework certain assets we felt could be polished a bit more, namely the backgrounds and UI design.
The start screen will definitely be changed! As we plan to use an art CG for it, do look forward to it!
We also had issues with implementing sound into the demo, so we're looking into that as well and hopefully be able to add sfx and music into the game.
And that's it for our first devlog! We hope you could follow us along this journey as Alchemilla Studios and for Norvale!
Please do check out the demo of Norvale on itch.io as well!

Old Art Archive Part 5.
Original captions under the cut.
1 - 3. Title: Petals, Sparkles and Unicorns [+ bonus of the other two pieces I have of her, that also happen to be old, left being newest of said two]. More csp testing stuff. Went a bit ham with its built in decoration brushes, Petal Brush, Grass Brush, Sparkle Brush [There's even a glitter brush, which I'm sure I will use at least a few times] ……. Happy enough with how this came out. Def need to draw her more.
4. Title: The Heart of My Eye. Uni stuff has been getting more hectic so haven't been able to draw as much [and what I have been drawing has been stuff that won't see the light of day until late this year probably]. Had the idea of a loveletter head character so just made this in csp, don't really like how this came out but oh well. Also probably going to redesign them a bit whenever I draw them again.
5. Title: The Imp Stick. Redesigned Nameless because I wanted to make him more self indulgent [I like horns, imp tails and faceshadows alot]. Used my usual method of exporting each frame as a image and then throwing them into ezgif, I think I should learn how to use clips built in animation abilities.
6. Title: Don't cry over spilt glitter. Uni work busy and hard, and been making a bunch of stuff I don't to post yet so dipped into my favourite thing, aka redesigning "old" characters [like it as much as designing new ones].
7. Title: Kitty Kitty Cat. Just a little cat, shes actually a pretty old character of mine, just redesigned her recently. I really need to draw and post more often.... Sort of like how the shading came out by I'm still kinda shit at it Might draw some more cause I have alot of old animal characters to redesign.
8. Title: Old Gay Cat named Juliet. Another cat laby, this time Sarah's mom, Juliet! Shes also been redesigned but not as much as Sarah. Going to do Sarah's other mom next [which until recently didn't have a design at all but still working on it a bit] Really like how the pose of this came out [still iffy on the shading though..]
9. Title: 2022 Pride Icon. New Icon/Pride Icon [might use this after pride month and just swap out the bg, or might a new one later].  and yes I used a very similar pose to my last upload, I just liked how it looked so used it again. Happy Pride Everyone!
10. Title: Filters and Fingerguns. I have been trying to draw more stuff lately :], liking the stuff I have been making, especially like how the hair and eyes of this came out of this came out :3. The character here is Eve, Juliet's wife and Sarah's second mom.
11. Title: Smiles and Glitter. I know I should be drawing the characters I have already more hut I really like designing new characters..... k? and felt like  I needed another sparklecat....[I need more sparkle anything really] Also tried to emulate the look of those old blingee? gifs and it looks okay enough. Going to try to figure out how to do it better.
12. Title: Metamorphosis. Yeah another bright sparkly cat.....a character I have actually been thinking about designing for month's,  A trans flag coloured lynx with a lil golden bell that shines like a rainbow in the light. A mascot-y character that's meant to idk be anti-thesis to how big corps pretend to like us during pride months by just changing their logos to rainbow and selling overpriced pride merch, then just change their logos back and don't do anything more about it for the rest of the year, I guess? Like a mascot thats undeniably queer in colours and otherwise I guess. My brain feels a bit slow and foggy right now right now so I might not be articulating well.
13. Title:  Splat. Haven't posted here for a month and lost steam for artfight not long into it [will post attacks I did once month is over], but I did make my first game, a rpgmaker game that is about 10 to 15 minute rpgmaker game for a mini jam. Thought maybe I should post about here at least once, https://namelessmewmew.itch.io They technically can be named whatever by the player but I wanted to give me a 'true' name as well, so here is Splat./colour-less
14. Title: 'Fuck you! Catboys your Demon'. I can't just not put my sona/main character though multiple redesigns/design updates, I wouldn't be NamelessMewMew, if I didn't! Going the opposite route in terms of adding things to his design lol compared to my old sona [casanova, a cat like creature that I added demon features to, I need to redesign them again at some point.] I need to learn how to draw stubble properly... and also maybe change the eyes a bit, you looks kinda uh high rather than just tired.
15. Title: Aging. Just feels weird, so a little doodle thing.
16 - 17. Title:   Prancing in the night. Wanted to start another art practice dump to practice shading, decided to do my personal characters to motivate me more but then got really into it and added more  and more shading/lighting, then thought this would look very stupid without a bg, then added lighting to that bg and then wanted the stars to sparkle.... [which I hope loads as its not loading in the preview I'm seeing now] yeah I guess I can make this its own deviation. The bg is a bit mid quality but I'm glad I did because I don't do proper bgs much, but I do really love how the Plushie came out in this, especially the pose [and shading]. Though the gif site I use makes transparency kinda uh line-y? Basically the lighting and shading looks smoother than this originally, though I don't mind how it looks
Anime Girl Art Dump:
Title:  Art Practice: 1. Ramble-y stuff: Been in a hating my art phrase because there's lots of parts of art I'm not great with, shading, anatomy, perspective, backgrounds..... so forth But can't get myself practice without also posting it but also it has to be good enough to post [when I feel my art is bad then I feel like I can't waste the time spent on it by not posting it but I also feel like I'm somehow a bad person for being bad at art]..... so going try to do dumps like this where I try to focus on certain things. Hopefully I can improve at least a bit this year. About the art: This is mostly Hair Shading + Faces + Eyes Practice, but also tried to draw various different hairstyles. Want to do more experimenting with how I draw eyes and hair...
Hands and Eyes Art Dump:
Title:  Art Practice: 2. More art practice, this time hands [done mostly by memory and a bit by using my hands as ref] + eyes [more just the irises and pupils rather than eyes as a whole]. Like where I am getting with eyes but really need to work on hands alot more.... Can't think of anything else to say really cause tired... other than its 4 days till I'm 20 which is wild.

i asked who the space player insert is based on a short while ago and so i still have my space player :)
anyway i should really find a new theme for this blog, huh? especially if i want to make a full comeback. if i do. something other than the old redux theme (despite how much i like how simple it is). i may have already found a new theme to use tho.
i've already edited some things on the blog. i edited some pages.
i am still very tuned in on writing/drawing for specifically game of dice tho (i love the characters and story there more than anything)
[~☆~]
if you're wondering how the story is now (in the time since i posted that art of the 4), i have a whole rough timeline complete. including chapter names. (still unknown if i wanna post the story publicly) by rough i mean it's just short summaries of what happens in each chapter.
i wanted a timeline set (i did that for the old version of the story, it was actually mostly complete) before any actual writing. and i think the timeline is pretty much set. and i wrote part of chapter 1. wrote as in i blacked out after reading some of my old writing and woke up to about 200 words. that then expanded to 900 and counting. what being fueled by wanting to annoy a fave character does to me. and spite. also one of the main reasons for setting a timeline is the theme for act and chapter names i have. and every act and chapter has been properly named :) i think saying some of the chapter names would give things away, but i'll give away the name of Act I: Brand New Days
yes i am calling them acts like homestuck cause i like the stage play terms and how important music and the performing arts are to me and this AU. (plus music is so ingrained into homestuck itself, the fraymotifs [special moves] are musical terms for example). plus the old version had acts too
they're basically like this. the act is broken into parts with chapters. (of course there's more than 2 chapters for act 1)

if i were to write it in full again and post it, i'd post it to ao3. the old ews story is still there cause i don't want to delete the only archive of the story (aside from it being in my files) but don't read it. don't worry about it. oh god it's so old, don't look at it. i don't even have my fantrolls in it anymore. altho i have put it locked behind view to registered users only to make it somewhat private without getting rid of it. as well as disabled comments. my game of dice fics i've put there are far better, and it's not cause it's my game of dice bias (even tho those are old-ish too and predates the main story. and predates present nea [my game of dice fc])
altho i have did a little editing on a code to help make pesterlogs and memos look so much better than what they originally looked like in the old ews. i just decided to make this ahead of time in case it DOES come back to be posted publicly.
the new code (i just added extra bits in a copy/personal work skin that adds the 6): [AO3]
old (the dark bg is only due to me using a dark skin for ao3 overall)

new (not official logs/just made for testing, also these are the new unique handles for the 4 so it's no longer based on the irls. i hope the inspo for the handles is very obvious. sorry Matt did not speak in the memo, i just didn't know what to make him say. but there was already a lot to type. and by a lot to type i am talking about the code itself, even with copy+paste)

also i have some ideas for a new icon and header. the ideas i have are heavily persona 3 reload inspired. persona 3, especially reload, is one of the reasons i've thought about this AU again after all. what listening to full moon full life on repeat does to me. maybe the icon tho will be a redraw of the old one. which was from the old cover of when i was planning a comic version of the story. ...maybe i will redraw that cover, hm... who knows lol
