Heaven, hmm? Well, considering all he'd seen and done, he figured it wasn't outside the realm of possibility to come across a heavenly entity. After all, he'd met a few folk related to Death before, someone stuck in a constant loop, and had his own clone try to kill him. He really shouldn't be surprised by anything at this point.

"I'd certainly agree it's less boring, though probably a lot less peaceful too. Especially when a lot of people are around." Gazing out for a moment, he found himself in aimless thought for a few moments. The way she stared out earlier implied she'd seen more than enough of the Earth to sate any curiosity she might've had before. But that didn't mean that she didn't still appreciate it, right?

Eh, whatever she thought, he supposed it wasn't his topic to forcefully broach. But what about what she was doing here?

"Anyways, what brought you this way? Just boredom, or did you have something to do along this way? Maybe a bit of work, or. . ?"

"Between...the lines..." Solar muttered softly to herself, raising two fingers to brush against her chin. "Yes, the scenery is beautiful," she agreed, gazing off into the distance in a way that suggested dissociation rather than appreciation.

After all, she had seen it all before.

"Fanfics are not The Serious Literature! - Oh, really😏?"

How many times you heard this sentence? Yeah, that's the one of main reason why many ficwriters believe that their works are not good / high-quality / interesting / professional (from a writing point of view).

As the passionate reader of the fictional literature from my early ages, I learned a lot from my beloved books. Many things: specifical science domains (fiction with biology accents), technical details (hi, steampunk and cyberpunk worlds ❤️), hidden political-social-economical strings that rule the world (the kingdoms in Middle Ages isn't so different from modern world in that), peculiarities of foreign culture and traditions.

Honestly, I tired so quickly on my school lessons and when I must to read some educational books about all of it... Fiction literature gave me much more - and the learning process was a lot easier.

Now I read mostly fanfics - and I can confirm that among them are truly gems from the point of detailing the environment. When the authors digged a lot in science articles and different domains. When they consulted with community or friends about cultural hidden peculiarities. And they did a lot of work than not all "professional" writers did, really. And yes - it's still fanfiction!😜

So, I've found already on AO3 two such great works in MDZS fandom and if you are interested - I can invite you to enjoy the long interesting dense-detailed reading together 😊:

Following the return of Wen Ning's spiritual cognition, Wei Wuxian doesn't pull away quickly enough to avoid Lan Wangji discovering his secret. Canon diverges from there. Largely CQL-verse with some frankencanon.

Enormous volume of cultural Chinese details integrated in plot so skillfully, that I learned a lot more from that fics than during my clumsy researches for my own fics. Food, medicine, traditions, clothes... I'm not sure that I understand all that but I try)

2. The Shade of Old Trees by Kryal

“We rest in the shade of trees our ancestors planted.” They called the man in the ice Yiling Laozu, after a folk hero associated with the town in the foothills of the mountains where he was found. No one expected him to be alive!

Here is modern AU, but...I truly enjoy the level of realistic stuff. If the events in fic would happen in reality - it wouldn't be different from described. A lot of details (especially in notes 😁) about Chinese history, social interactions in science snake-pits, ethical and political motives about the object of researches etc.

Maybe later this list would be prolonged (I hope on it). And if you know another fics on the similar level of detailing - I will be grateful for recommendations !

I've seen quite a few friends and mutuals do this overnight so I'm not quite sure who has and hasn't done this already so will leave this as an open tag for anyone who wants to do a wrap up for 2024! Please do tag me if you want <3

Is quite obviously The Perfect Storm! My beloved main longfic, the slowest of burns, with my idiots Elyse and Balgruuf still not together and pining stronger than ever and suffering through drama after drama >:3 I started 2024 by posting chapter 15, and as of the point of posting this, one year later, I am now up to chapter 25, with 26 and beyond in progress... 11 chapters in 1 year!

I also started on my Oblivion main fic, With light comes shadow, featuring my Heroes of Kvatch Drissa and Florian.... I've only got the one chapter posted so far, but I got it posted! And that's something! I want to replay Oblivion to try and work on it some more, I feel that the second chapter is likely partway to completion...?

Number 3 was surprisingly hard, as this was the last of these which I did (I did this in the order 1, 4, 5, 2, 3?? for some reason?), but I settled on "Do you surrender?" simply because it is a smutty oneshot of my idiots Elyse and Balgruuf which took many months for me to write (for context, I wanted to have it finished for my birthday in early March, and it got posted in October! Over 7 months later!), and is technically the first smut I've posted in years and I am incredibly happy with how it turned out!

Has to be this piece of art which I made for a later chapter of The Perfect Storm, in the moments leading up to my idiots having their first kiss on the balcony atop Dragonsreach.... 😍 I can't wait to finally reach that point in my fic.

5. And last but not least, my main cross stitch project from this year! All of the hold symbols from Skyrim! I'm hoping to do some more cross stitching in 2025... I just don't know what yet.

Honorary mention for Tempest, my Vilkas/OC (Thorne) fic which fits in the same verse as The Perfect Storm, which almost ended up in number 3!

I was tagged by the lovely, intimidatingly well-read @brandbilen to list my favourite books from 2024. Ta! 🥰

I read 48 books last year, but I only gave 8 of them 5 stars — three of which are from one crime series, Josefine Tey by Nicola Upson (based on the real person). These books just keep getting better! I love the clever writing style, the characters (Archie Penrose, my beloved), and the way Upson writes women especially. It's so hard to find crime fiction that actually treats women as people. She lets them be angry and vicious and ugly and terrible and selfish and justified and wrong... but always compelling and interesting.

Anything by Bridget Collins is bound to be a fave! The Silence Factory was the most unique book I read last year. I didn't like the M/M main characters — and wasn't meant to — but that did not stop me from devouring this novel; I just had to know what was going on.

Practical Magic is one of those classics I just never got around to reading... but this year I finally did! It's not like the movie at all, I had to see it as its own thing, but I loved it, and the way it read almost like a fairytale: tell don't show, but in a good way!

Finally got around to reading The Clan of the Cave Bear too! Obligatory wtffff. Amazing writing and worldbuilding, though, and it's one of my mum's all time faves, so it was very special to step into her favourite series and finally meet Ayla, the inventor of life, the universe, and everything!

Moving on to the last two books, which didn't fit into my android photo collage: The Scarlet Pimpernel verse was written just for me; this installment is no exception. Sometimes you just want to read a book in which the hero mostly quips and naps his way through the story and still comes out on top.

Divine Rivals moved me. Magical typewriters? Rivals to lovers? A mystical war involving gods? The cover? Sold!

　　[ ON CANON DIVERGENCE AND SEASON 2. ]

i've been cooking up these thoughts for a while as i've meditated on where s2 left us, but conversations with @gettnup and @gambl4r only reinforced a few things for me regarding my portrayal of vi, so it's finally time to share with the world at large.

IN REGARDS TO THE ENFORCER OF IT ALL. at the end of the day, vi's always going to be toxically co-dependent and desperate specifically in relation to her sister; jinx ( ft. a special shoutout to my bully @j1hnxed <3 ) is her number one person, the most important thing to her, and that's never going to change regardless of ship or circumstance. she's all vi thought of and all that kept her going in as miserable and traumatizing a place as stillwater ( to the point where the guards essentially had to beat her to make her stop mentioning her ) and her main motivation throughout the entire show. their relationship is wildly important to vi, often at the cost of everyone else around her, and easily the most fascinating thing about the show for me personally, so that does reflect not only in my threads but also my portrayal.

of course caitlyn was also important to her ( pulled her free from her hell of seven years, saved her life, helped her when she had very few friends or allies to her name ) but vi wasn't just chasing tail by temporarily becoming an enforcer, she was trying to stop jinx and avenge what became of her beloved sister before she could hurt more people or tarnish powder's memory any further. it was all impulsively sought opportunity, something she should have considered more carefully before she trampled over everything she herself stands for; would have considered more carefully were it again not for being fresh out of a prison of almost a decade and experiencing trauma after trauma after trauma, the kind so brutal and expansive that it warrants its own post later on. the tl;dr is i don't believe vi is some blameless hero for anything she's done or the decisions she has made, nor do i think she's anywhere close to evil or malicious. she's a mess of complexities, she's a human being who loves her sister and who just can't seem to stop fucking up, and i eat it up.

but please dear god note that by act 2 and thereafter, vi's already permanently stripped herself of any enforcer identity; i don't fuck with any theories or canons that suggest otherwise. allying herself with her oppressors was a temporary mistake over and done with, and one that she's still working to make up for both for her loved ones and for herself. her own values, her own opinions, remain skeptical and cynical re: topsiders and everything that has to do with their politics. she isn't perfect, morally, and her defensive hard-headed temper has a rough time fully facing everything she's done as black and white wrong when it was all so driven by her sister, but she's also so simultaneously sick with guilt, with self-loathing about a few of her key choices anyway that she knows she needs to do ... something. vi is a character constantly at war with herself.

IN REGARDS TO CAITVI / VI'S FUTURE. can absolutely be ship or partner or verse dependent, but for my main and default verse, vi does not remain with caitlyn, much less in piltover, post-canon. when the dust clears and everything settles, the fact remains that vi absolutely hates it topside and certainly doesn't feel as though she belongs there. with or without jinx ( although act 3 does seem to imply that caitlyn realizes jinx is alive and thus more than likely does loop vi in on this knowledge ) vi won't and can't shake zaun. one identity crisis later and she's inevitably pulled right back home, to make amends, to work on herself, to recollect ... whether that means rebuilding what she's lost with @gettnup and the firelights, or going rogue for a while with borderline vigilante style intentions as she tries to clear the air with her people, or even finally find some common threads with @gambl4r. maybe they'll get drunk-married in the zaunite equivalent of vegas somewhere. who can say.

note that i also very much emphasize all of vi's lingering ptsd, anger issues, alcoholism, and other defining mental health issues ( further identified in the dossier in my pinned post ) for my portrayal; i loved the heaviness and intensity of her mental state in act 2, and don't agree that it could be so quickly cast aside like that peaceful moment at the end of act 3 seemed to want us to believe. vi is severely damaged, and i'll continue to write her that way.

regardless of her path, one thing is certain: she belongs to zaun, and that's always where she'll be.

🌈✨CRINGETOBER 2024✨🌈 DAY 16: SOMETHING YOU'VE BEEN BULLIED FOR

I think that a lot of people took this prompt in a more negative light, like making vent art. But I didn't feel comfortable with that idea. Especially when it came to like, the things I'm dealing with still, those are things lots of people deal with! And making something negative about that felt wrong. So I instead decided to draw my beloved, oldest OC that's still kicking, Mars! More info below the cut.

Mars is OLD OLD, he's one of my first serious original characters. As a result, when I ported him over to my OC-verse MIDNIGHT VIGILANTES, he actually got aged up. Mars McKnight is a music star whose been coasting, nowadays mostly working as a mentor for the younger heroes in their publicity in-between his shows and making new music for his one-man band, also just called MARS. He's pop-rock really, but overall I consider him more pop than rock? It depends on his era. MARS was not his first band, but getting into that history will require more character introductions, so we can leave it there for now!

Back in the day, Mars was my main character in a different story, and he really functioned as a vent OC where I made everything in his life horrible. He was Just Like Me FR, he was transgender, he was short, he was emo sad boy, he dealt with every horrible thing that could happen to a person basically. When I rewrote Mars, I really decided he deserved his best life instead, even when keeping those same things. He still has his traumas, he still has issues he deals with throughout the story. BUT YOU KNOW, he's rich, he's a short king, he's trans and confident about it, he gets to wear the fashion I love, he's considered overall a good guy by everyone despite working for a problematic company and working with problematic people. He's now more inspirational than just, "character I dump my issues onto." He still deserves that callout post lol BUT overall, he's doing great now! I LOVE HIMMM SO MUCH. I hope you like him too!

What Kim Kitsuragi Tells Us About Fandom Ghost

I don't know if this has been said before, but I feel like another reason why Kim Kitsuragi is so wildly popular and beloved is how seamlessly he maps onto the trope of the Fanon Ghost.

Fanon Ghost is a concept that originated on Tumblr, by user wildehack, to describe the phenomenon of fandom elevating certain white male side characters from canon into main characters in fic, using a very specific set of characterization.

(Examples: wildehack focused on Star Wars' Hux's popularity in fic in comparison to characters like Finn/Poe, but others include Q from Craig!Bond verse, Arthur from Inception, Draco Malfoy, etc.)

From wildehack's defining essay:

"... prudish til you get him in bed, whereupon he is The Most Kinky, the charmingly repressed rage, the Love of Research and Order, the way lust/interest/affection is coded into irritation at The Neat and Tidy World being All Roughed Up by the hot mess of the other half of the ship?" "This crowdsourced tight-lipped furious perfectionist with his neat clothes and his scowling defensiveness and his biting sarcasm and his embarrassed desire to have a dude who is both sweaty and emotional take him apart."

Sound familiar?

Well, the terms may be a little different.

Where wildehack uses 'prudish,' 'biting sarcasm,' etc. to describe their fandom's fanon ghost, Disco fans might use 'professional,' 'dry wit,' etc. to describe Kim Kitsuragi.

But, the idea is the same, down to his embarrassing / sweaty / emotional partner. Kim Kitsuragi is Fanon Ghost if fanon ghost weren't a white male side character.

quick detour that'll become relevant later: i feel SO smug about the fact that Kim's characterization is canon to Disco Elysium. You had to make up your own perfect blorbo, but ours came like that! And he's not a white character being used to ignore POC main characters!

wildehack's essay started a conversation on why fandoms gravitate towards "This One Crowdsourced Dude," even when he doesn't exist in canon. And when there are other, often more established, minority main characters to work with.

There are a bunch of responses to this question—the FandomLore article I'm referencing this discussion from has a bunch of the full metas—ranging from exploring why he's often white and what exactly about him appeals to fandom. I think Kim's popularity can be really helpful in sorting my thoughts to these responses.

For instance, there are two general responses as to why the Fandom Ghost is usually a white side character:

Whiteness is considered a a blank slate default, making it easier to write about without fear of misrepresentation/mischaracterization

VS

White men are considered more desirable/more relatable by fandom.

It's probably a mix of the two, but I think a fascinating THIRD take is that these white side characters in canon aren't just blank slates, but also share minor traits that all point to One Trope that causes people to obsess.

certifiedspacetrash postulated that the fandom ghost is actually a reskinning of a much older beloved archetype—the byronic hero: a character notable for being hard to like and hard to know, but usually possessing a rich inner life and a softer side accessible only to a special few. (Sound familiar?)

He theorized that part of the reason we don't see many POC Fandom Ghosts is because mainstream medias don't cast byronic traits onto POC characters.

"I think if Hollywood cast more young, striking actors who happen to be PoC, women etc as villains / byronic heores we would see lots of fanfic of them. But Hollywood is still in some weirdass reaction to being accused of racial stereotyping (which they 100% still do), and almost refuse to cast poc or women as bad guys. If they are, they’re either cast very old; or they’re the mary sue badguys - 100% beautiful, geniuses, incredibly powerful, no flaws whatsoever - and that tends not to inspire a lot of writers."

I find this take fascinating with Disco Elysium in mind because of the way Kim Kitsuragi is the exception that proves the rule.

Kim Kitsuragi is a rare, well-written mixed Asian character with byronic traits. And would you look at that?—Kim Kitsuragi has captured the hearts and minds of basically every Disco Elysium enjoyer ever.

Kim Kitsuragi is notably NOT overshadowed by Jean Vicquemare, who is a white side character with byronic traits that, in an alternate universe, could've been possessed by the Fandom Ghost to overshadow Kim. Jean, in our universe, already has a pretty big fandom in proportion to his screentime.

But, by the grace of moments where Harry can get Kim to "give a smile only you can see," Kim Kitsuragi is the breakout star of Disco Elysium. I find that hopeful, in a time where Asian male characters (outside of Asia, ofc) are often overlooked or boxed in or emasculated.

Sonic Frontiers sold 3 million copies.

For comparison’s sake, Sonic 06 sold 800k, Sonic Unleashed sold under 2.5 million copies, Sonic Colors sold 2.1 million copies, and Sonic Generations sold 1.8 million copies. Sonic Lost World sold 700k and is one of the lowest selling main games in the Franchise and yet the Zeti are prominent in the comic. Sonic Forces sold a pitiful in its first week and we may never know exactly how much Sonic Forces actually sold(and it having 5 million plus on players on PSN+ is not any indication of a sale since it was free.) Yet somehow the comic takes place directly after Forces. Sonic Mania sold just over a million in case those hardcore Sonic classic fans want to open their mouths. While I’m at it, Sonic Adventure sold 1.3 million and SA2 sold 1.7 million. Sonic Rush sold 1.3 million and its sequel,which suffered after 06 tarnished Sonic’s reputation, sold 300k. The first Sonic game sold 15 million copies and before Retro fans start talking shit, note that is the only game in the franchise that sold that amount and it was in the golden age of gaming. You could sell a wet fart in an Nintendo cartridge and it would have made a million easy. Sonic 2? 6 million. Sonic 3? 1.03 million. Sonic and Knuckles? 1.3 million. Sonic CD? 1.5 million. Shadow the Hedgehog? 2 million. And Sonic Heroes and probably the biggest offender as to why Sonic Team stopped giving a shit about quality or effort and more about that Christmas grind? 3.41 million in 2 years.

Sonic Frontiers sold like gang busters in the couple of months it’s been out.

If you think Sage or any Frontiers elements won’t be referenced or be in the comic, you are bugging. Especially given that one of the main writers of the game writes for the comic. If that’s what is keeping you from saying IDW Sonic is on the same canon as the games and not what Iizuka says or what Flynn has stated several times, you are bugging. You are kidding yourselves if you think IDW can’t possibly put in those elements from the game in their comic.

If you don’t consider Tangle or Whisper to be game character in spite of them appearing in two mobile games that have been downloaded and played more than any Sonic game and have been created with the help of Sonic Team’s own character designer, fling yourself into the Nile River and cope and seethe. Tangle and Whisper have merchandise in the Sega Shop.

TailsTube shorts? Written by Flynn. That little Amy Rose Tarot Card set that is coming out soon? Written by Flynn with art created by one of the many IDW comic artists. This comic series has well over 50 issues including 4 different 4 part miniseries. It sold out in Japan! It’s consistently IDW’s top selling comic beating both the Transformers and Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles. It has sold over 10,000 copies an issue in a world where comics aren’t widely recognized unless it’s in the Marvel or DC. What they said in the beginning about it being diverged from canon no longer applies. Shit changed. It’s a new goddamn world. IDW Sonic is the only medium that actually uses your beloved obscure characters like Silver and Blaze. Like Cream. I don’t know what Flynn has done to make you turn up your nose at him but get over it. And the days of Sega pimping out Sonic to whatever Western media content creator and not caring what they churn out are over. The only exception to this is the movie verse(and because Iizuka has explicitly said it’s in a different canon)and honestly I have a tougher time trying to grasp how Sonic Prime is canon than I am with IDW. But regardless, it’s a new day. You are in a renaissance of Sonic and for once Sega gives enough of a shit about lore to want to make it all gel together and avoiding SATAM or Sonic Underground or Sonic the Comic or Archie Sonic the Hedgehog. Get the fuck over it.

💜💙 freefall happens a little differently, in that linda and clint never dated, but they are friends mostly because linda is dating @thefleetsfinest and leonard adopted a stray alcoholic (clint) that is how that is going

💜💙 linda and clint still attend the gala together, or more linda runs into clint at the f.e.a.s.t. charity thing (leonard is probably in attendance too / linda still calls tony small dick energy and then kisses her doctor boyfriend) and both are squinty eyes at him the entire time

💜💙 Clint is actually injured going to Linda's clinic when Spiderman and Captain America confront him, and Linda still goes to defend him; partly because she will not have that happening right outside of her clinic. it definitely one of the leading causes where she wants some space from clint

💜💙 Clint still brings Bryce to Linda's apartment, and Bryce dies, and that's why Clint gets banned from her apartment. Linda calls Leonard to help with clean up, and Leonard helps Clint in the direct aftermath

💜 He goes to Leonard all injured after The Hood, and than he decides to go sober with the help of Leonard

💜💙 clint is still currently banned from linda's apartment, but she has mostly forgiven him for covering his ass and the whole dying kid in her house; it's fine he is leonard's friend, she can forgive him over time

💜 leonard mccoy is clint's aa sponsor, across all open verses, when post freefall happens; clint's living on leonard's couch as he gets sober and starts to put his life back together, there may have been some snuggling involved, because when you are sad and pitiful, sometimes being held is nice and lenny is a good friend.

💙 Clint and Leonard tend to go to aa meetings in Brooklyn, but if ever needed they have popped into the usual place that Tony and Carol end up. The first time that happened was so awkward for Clint.

💜 Now let's get on to talking Peter Parker ( @crisispider ). After apologizing to Peter, the two had always been friends over the years, but they become closer friend again. Clint is surprisingly there as Peter is going through the details of a divorce, or co-parenting, and being a single dad.

💜 Clint is roughly one year sober, and only doing small investigative, vigilante/hero work, not always directly in NYC (legal troubles), and that is when Luke has become Mayor (tbh i do not know the timeline between 2020 to 2022/23 comics well) when he gets the offer about the Thunderbolts, he is not at all sure about it and still has major issues with this

💜 Clint and Peter have been becoming closer friends, since Clint apologized, and it's once Clint has joined the Thunderbolts, that is when Clint and Peter start to flirt a little more, and one thing leads to another, that leads to feelings and a relationship. Clint's been a Thunderbolt for the city for some time now, in a relationship with Peter for some time. About a year probably.

💜 Peter and part-time Mayday move in with Clint at some point down the line, making the Spiderman and little Bug mainstays in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. The neighbors at Bed-Stuy absolutely love Peter B. Parker, and he's a big help at fixing things and making thee apartment labeling make sense

💜 Clint and MJ are buds, pals, friends; he loves her. The Barton-Parker-Watson family is so good and wholesome. Kate Bishop is also a part of that, DUH, Peter gets Kate in Clint's will. Kate and Peter have such a funny friendship.

💜 Eventually, Clint does get back in good graces with the Avengers, and even returns to the Avengers in the time of emergencies. He can be both a TB and an Avenger sometimes as a treat.

💜 Clint's even visited Spider-society once, because Peter vouched really had for a bring-your-boyfriend to work day.

💜 Clint's best friend, outside of his other best friends. His non-superhero friend if he has to be specific is Leonard, he loves harassing his doctor, needs him as his sponsor. has become more of brother to him than barney is, and is his best friend. they just get each other. and he swears if leonard gets hurt.

💜 Leonard makes Clint cry more than he'd care to admit to, like when Leonard and the Mccoy family adopt Clint as their own, and treat him like family. It makes him cry and stop he knows it's okay to cry Peter, he's till crying though and its ugly. He also just loves Leonard a lot.

💙 Linda and Leonard start dating before Freefall takes place exact timeline uncertain. this happens after Leonard wises up. She cares a lot about him, and was just giving him space to adjust to moving to New York and involving himself in superhero lives. They are so close with each other, and really it was a matter of time.

💙 The Night Nurse Network is a thing, with Linda's clinic being a whole location, and she's got her rolodex of associates. She's got help now, she's not the only doctor/physician acting as more than half of NYC's hero population's pcp and emergency doctor. She has @thefleetsfinest and @hopeburns (when she's not in space) who both can be ran into and seen around the clinic, as well most importantly, everyone's favorite waiting room buddy, Leonard's corgi Luna. there's three doctors/nurses are the night nurse clinic now.

💙 As Clint would put it, the crush era between Linda and Leonard was unbearable (and since clint was drinking at the time / he drank to that) as Leonard would deny any time he got jealous that Linda was trying to date and get out there. Linda absolutely hated that time, as most dates were just not interesting or went poorly, and she did not really want to be "getting out there", plus Leonard was right there and really they were both unbearable and oblivious to each other's interest in the other!

💙 Linda always ends up back at the clinic after her dates (the one time with the lizard girl), and most of that she ends up hanging out with Leonard after all her dates, cause he's more interesting (and the ideal guy)

💙 Linda's friends include Jessica Drew (and Carol by extension), Stephen Strange (they get coffee, he's a pest once he knows about leonard too absolutely awful), Laelynn (by extension her girlfriend Luce), and Leonard (by extension clint and peter are around a too), and than there is Danny and Luke as well.

💙 Speaking of Jessica Drew, Linda absolutely adores babysitting Gerry when given the chance. To add to that, she starts watching Mayday Parker as well which she really doesn't mind, because of Leonard doing a favor for @crisispider and Clint.

💜🧡 Clint and Peter watch Greer's kid William sometimes, which naturally Clint is like "Oh my pal leonard can watch him too" which sorry Leonard you didn't like those curtains did you anyways. So Greer has Clint or lets Clint's friend Leonard watch William.

💙💜 So Linda and Leonard babysit, just as Clint and Peter will baby sit all the super kids they know.

💙 Linda was more nervous about Leonard meeting her mother, than about meeting the Mccoys or Leonard meeting the rest of her family. This is mostly because of the fact that her mother was unpredictable in how her opinion could be swayed. It wouldn't change anything, but it'd be preferrable if she was Leonard-favorable.

💛 Wasps and spiders may be natural enemies (which may not be true), but Nadia has said she has arguably warmed up to @crisispider but like Miles is still the cooler Spiderman

❤️ Luce (i know i need to add her) is absolute buds with @crisispider it happens mostly because she quips back to at least half of Spiderman's jokes with quotes in specific voice, and they usually grab a bite after a tough day of heroing. That and they get the whole secret identity.

❤️ Luce is Newark's vigilante, but she'll end up wherever a lead will take her which is more often than not over the water to NYC. She tries to avoid being in Manhattan, minus the Night Nurse clinic which is currently in Manhattan, because every superhero and his mom defends Manhattan. She'll go defend Staten Island if she has to over Manhattan (that's a joke she'll kick names and take ass anywhere, wait a minute)

❤️ LUCE ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT PROVE LEGAL ADVICE ! She knows why are asking @crisispider so go pester a lawyer! She is just a paralegal, and it's in her opinion that like hawkeye should not.

💜 A few relapses for Clint, superhero shit is tough but he always gets back on and it never lasts long. his sobriety lasts longer.

💜 Oh about that Wurm ;) The avengers are clint's team :) oh and Clint plus the team save the day :) so you think :) and things are fine until the Wurm comes back to eat Clint I mean what :)

💙 Linda has to relocate the clinic, which actually ends up being more upsetting than she'll care to admit. It happen, it's happened before, she's always moved when needed. This time it's more because Danny Rand had bought the last building to remove rent as an issue for her. She knows it was a give back thank you gift, these things happen, it is still absolutely a stressful and massive plan when she moves her clinic out of the Lower East Side. She tries to find a place near the same area and still in Manhattan, but rent is a bitch. She manages to find a place in Turtle Bay, between 2nd and 3rd.

💜 Clint and Peter get married ! There is going to be a wedding. The proposal? Has not been worked out. But there is, of course it's gonna end up a big thing, spiderman and hawkey are big heroes!

💜 Clint's best man is . . . complicated. It ends up being co-best man Kate and Leonard. He had to narrow down groomspeople to a limit number of four. Figuring out who is. . . . still tough.

💙 The meeting of the Carters and Mccoys was something, which to date may be the most stressed that Linda has ever been to date. It goes well, mostly.

💙 Linda and Leonard will get married too, and Linda wants it family and friends, and keep it small and quiet. As much as it can be when there are already a few superheroes who have to be on the list ( stephen plus clint and peter)

💜 Clint is Leonard's best man for his wedding with Linda. IT IS VERY EMOTIONAL. and Clint's speech is great (awful)

💙 linda's dress is a little decade inspired, just below the knee in leg, with some umpf to the skirt, off the shoulders or at least neck bare, good for dancing, very simple. the more exciting part of this is really the lace she is wearing underneath.

💜 Peter is gonna have a second kid with Clint. They are gonna be girl dads time two.

and just. so much more. so much. i love this affiliate verse. so much. also like. peter has the whole of spider society stuff. going on. and clint can't even wrap his head around some of it.

The Price May Be Right - Number 19

Welcome to “The Price May Be Right!” I’m counting down My Top 31 Favorite Vincent Price Performances & Appearances! The countdown will cover movies, TV productions, and many more forms of media. Today’s choice might be a bit confusing. I give you two performances for the price of one, with Number 19: Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven.”

The names of Vincent Price and Edgar Allan Poe are practically synonymous, at least in cinematic circles. While Price made many, MANY movies in his long and storied career, arguably the ones for which he became best well-known were the special movies produced by AIP for what is now referred to colloquially as “The Corman-Poe Cycle.” This was a series of eight films, all directed by Roger Corman for the company, which were based – some more loosely than others – on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Vincent was the nominal star for seven of the pictures within the octology. The only one which DIDN’T feature Price was the third film of the bunch, “The Premature Burial.”

Most of the movies in the series were treated as more or less straightforward horror films of the time. However, the one exception was the movie inspired by the great author’s most famous “Poe-m” (I am so sorry), “The Raven.” The original poem is easily one of Poe’s greatest pieces of work, telling in short verse the story of a lonely man, mourning the loss of his beloved wife, Lenore. He receives a visit from a mysterious raven, which turns out to be a supernatural harbinger of doom and despair. It’s a tragic, ambiguous, deeply perturbing poem, and still a classic to this day. Corman’s 1963 movie interpretation, however, eschews much of the pathos, as the film is actually a horror-comedy, with emphasis on the latter half of that equation. In essence, the picture is meant to be a tongue-in-cheek spoof of all the others in the eight-part series, which is sort of a clever idea. In the film, Price plays the main protagonist: Dr. Craven, a physician and ex-sorceror who, like the narrator in the poem, has seemingly lost his precious Lenore. Also like in the poem, he is visited by a talking raven…but this is about where all similarities cease, for the raven turns out to be a fellow dark wizard, by the name of Dr. Bedlo. He reveals to Craven that Lenore is apparently still alive, and in the grasp of their shared nemesis, the evil Dr. Scarabus. The two magicians thus set out on a quest to confront Scarabus, so Bedlo can get revenge on him for past humiliations, while Craven ascertains if his wife is, indeed, still breathing…and if so, what she is doing with the evil wizard. Much like “House of the Long Shadows” would do many years later, the film acts as something of a “Who’s Who?” of classic Gothic horror pictures. Not only does Price play the lead role, but the perpetually-drunk Bedlo is played by Peter Lorre, while the redoubtable Boris Karloff tackles the part of the slimy Scarabus. Future Joker and star of “The Shining,” Jack Nicholson, also appears in an early role, playing the part of the romantic interest for Craven’s daughter, who is played by the much-less-famous (but no less talented) Olive Sturgess. It’s more fun than frightening on the whole. Price’s Craven is an interesting protagonist for the story: despite being very gifted in magical arts, and coming from a long line of distinguished warlocks, he’s a very mild-mannered individual, most of the time. The film gives him a story arc of essentially growing more of a spine, as he learns to fight more fiercely against the injustices around him, and accepts his destined place in the world: an atypical hero’s journey.

All this is well and good, and the movie is definitely worth checking out, if only for the novelty of the adventure and its stellar cast. However, this was not the only time Price would tackle Poe’s Raven onscreen. Many years later, Price would get a chance to theatrically perform a reading of the original poem for a Halloween Special during the 1980s. Unfortunately, I cannot remember what the name of the special was, nor the exact year it came out: I actually tried to look it up, since I DID learn that information…but I can no longer find the source, and I sadly never wrote it down, dummy that I am. Whoops. Whatever else is in the special in question, however, it’s hard to believe much could top Price performing Poe’s greatest poem the way it was always meant to be performed.

In my opinion, Price’s reading of The Raven is the definitive interpretation of the poem. He brings the right amount of melodrama and emotion to the work, giving the Narrator a sense of both decadence and dismalness befitting the story as it happens. From his tragic nostalgia to his wonder at the appearance of the talking bird and even to his moments of desperation and spooky loss, he runs the whole gamut of the poem’s emotional breadth with marvelous aplomb. Others, such as Christopher Lee and James Earl Jones, have done masterful interpretations and readings of the poem in their own rights…but for me, Price is the eternal voice of Edgar Allan Poe’s work, and no single take on the poem has ever matched his reading for me. Bottom line: whether it’s the movie or the poem, when I think of “The Raven,” I think of Vincent Price. End of story. Tomorrow, the countdown continues with Number 18!

bestie bestie beloved i listened to the song 'atlas hands' by benjamin francis leftwich and maybe it's just bc i saw atlas and immediately applied the song to him but idk i just think it really fits him? that sense of wanderlust intermingling with loss and the grief of a devastating adventure, 'i will remember your face cause i am still in love with that place' - conflicting thoughts because the journey 'killed' keika but now atlas is back safe and maybe there's a part of him that still aches for that which he doesn't know, or perhaps there's regret even that his own wanderlust involved keika to begin with. idk i feel like this might not fit but it's a very pretty song either way - @tbos-main

And there's that idea of freedom, hiding that undercurrent of danger that I just think suits him and the story so well yknow??

the chorus?? absolutely about him and Keika, and even subtly about Atlas' own guilt and feeling unworthy of having Keika in his life again

OKAY OKAY OKAY I LOVE THINKING ABOUT THIS VERSE IN REGARDS TO NOBODIES HERO BC THE GOD IN QUESTION IS PRINCE SASHA - so that first line just fits so fucking beautifully into the fact that Atlas and Co. are basically paid to keep quiet about what actually happened on the quest. Prince Sasha literally gives them hush money, and Atlas takes it because he doesn't know what else to do; and then that second line?

Atlas made a promise to himself that he'd get Keika home safe, and he failed in that, so he's just like. forever waiting for it, if that makes sense?? it makes sense to me

and then the last two lines are about the citizens of Prota and their near god-like worship of Prince Sasha bc of generations of propaganda and shit; and in the context of nobodies hero "my god is a good god and he cares" has this like twisted meaning, where it's both how people actually feel and it's the bitter sarcasm of keika mocking them for feeling that way?

and basically this final verse is basically just Atlas' learning from his past mistakes, he knows what he's stepping into now when he decides to go on another adventure, he knows what might be waiting for him at the other end and this time he's not going to let it happen.

cleo verses i need to actually put on her page when it exists:

main. post-mh2 movie. cleo is glad to have her group of friends, to manage clawdeen's prefect status, and to be a part of something. she's still learning how to properly express herself and communicate, but she's made great strides... this will generally be pre deuce leaving on his trip ( i imagine there's a time skip between the prefect announcement and his departure ) and the reaper and all coming for now to allow for expansion when that movie inevitably comes out. her father is frustrated and annoyed with her for letting clawdeen take the status of the school's beloved as cleo's roles in helping save the day relatively unacknowledged. he is driving her more and more to make him proud, something she's teetering with in terms of personal desires. nefera is ruthless and continues to make cleo feel like a failure. the younger princess still comes at things with a relentless confidence but she's also prone to seeming more to the sidelines often, feeling broken and confused but never showing it to anyone who doesn't know her well. she's still battling feelings for deuce but has stepped back, not intending to intrude ( partner dependent if deuce is with claw ).

post mh1. cleo has been knocked back a few pegs. she keeps quiet about her role in defeating komos and has fully embraced clawdeen as a hero and newfound friend. that doesn't mean she handles it well, and can still come off rather haughty.

post saving deuce. this is based off plotting i've done with amber where our take on mh3 right now is that while claw and drac are focused on saving frankie and the school from the reaper, cleo realizes deuce is in danger. she manages to find a way to the underworld at the risk of her own undead life being away from her heart... but she brings him back. the two are conflicted on their feelings and mending old wounds... cleo is still figuring who she wants to be, but she's finally breaking more away from her family's influence to take what she wants.

human. cleo's family comes from old money. mainly the oil industry. she doesn't know a life without servants and admiration. but losing her boyfriend deuce has caused a turmoil in her she doesn't know how to handle, but one her father and sister absolutely rip her up over. her father always sends guards and the like with her, ever since his wife disappeared...

I don’t think I’ll ever post them (unless I severely rewrite them, they’re too personally based as they are currently) but my two main self insert/ x reader stories are:

BHNA: Assistant Teacher for the staff of UA (not like a TA in college, an actual teacher who assists the other teachers. Would be late 20s- early 30s aged. ) Personally I can only imagine myself as quirkless. And my personal self insert is a former “manager” (handler/assistant?) for two hero ocs in America and later became a high school teacher and works with troubled kids with quirks.

I struggle with this one a bit as I’d like to be able to focus on all of the Staff of UA but I have so little grasp on all their characterizations, and the fact we haven’t seen much of the day to day of life at UA. Fairly All Might focused- as he’s my fave but again I would want to include more of the staff. (Aizawa, Midnight, Mic, Vlad and so on.)

Timeline wise it’s placed post All Might’s retirement (and Dorms existing) but kinda pauses in the canon after that?? (Major events, specifically the war stuff going on it the manga?)

I’d likely have to introduce some ocs (that would largely be off screen). Might introduce them anyways- as they’re a huge part of my daydreaming stories outside of fanfic. My superhero-verse ocs have been beloved to me since before BNHA.

Dragon Ball: After some Saiyan shenanigans, you end up dating both Goku + ChiChi AND Vegeta + Bulma. (The couples stay separate, this isn’t a 5some situation.) Vaugely set in “Super”.

The main set up for the plot is: As part time tutor for Goten, you end up staying the night with the Sons (even if Goten is away said night) and you end up sleeping with Goku and ChiChi. During which, Goku ends up biting you- leaving a mark. Which means nothing to you in the end, except a tentative relationship with the couple.

Vegeta eventually finds out about this and is furious that Goku would do something like this- impulsively claim a secondary mate, not going through the proper process of doing so. Turns out this is a old Saiyan custom (from far before Freiza had reign of planet Vegeta), taking a secondary “mate” (I’ve called them ‘concubines’ but I don’t think that’s right?)- particularly a lower classed one.

It also wasn’t uncommon for rival Saiyans to fight over the same secondary mate (as prideful Saiyans would never go after someone’s husband/wife.) Thus, you jokingly offer for Vegeta to go through the “ritual” of becoming a secondary mate- with Bulma and him.

This concept might not really make any sense, I guess. But…. Fanfic lmao.

I don’t know if I’m articulating these ideas well enough. Will I actually ever share these stories? Idk. But I wanted to put them out there. This isn’t everything I could say- but I’ll never post this if I keep going.

These aren’t my only stories but, these are more like the multi chaptered/ scenario stories I imagine. I have a Piccolo fic wip but that’s more of a one shot kinda in my head.

Oh also I usually write fem + chubby reader cause.. I’m that lmao.

Anyways, this is a small portion of the ideas about the dumb little stories I think about (and occasionally tippy tap into my phone.) I can talk more about them if anyone has any questions and stuff.
