So it's Father's Day in Sweden, and it gave me feels

Because as a single father household, Bard of course got a lot of love and appreciation from his kids, even as they all grew into adults

But it's a human thing, so neither Legolas nor Thranduil had ever heard of it once they joined the family.

But I can just imagine when Bard and Thran were still just courting, tiny Tilda handing Thranduil a little card with squiggly and messy Sindarin letters and a little drawing of the whole family together. "I made it myself! Princess has been teaching me to write in Simdarin, and he asked if he should write it down but I wanted to, so if the spelling and stuff is not very good then I'm sorry. But I got both Bain and Sigrid to sign it, though I did have to trick Sigrid into doing so, and I even drew a family pict- Ada why are you crying?"

My recent Hobbit hyperfixation has culminated in me writing a Hobbit/LOTR college au of questionable quality. Whether I continue it remains to be seen, but for now enjoy whatever this is.

Actually no, the way that even The Hobbit is going to be different in Gold Cages. I have to think about my headcanons as to how (I know @nocompromise-noregrets and I batted stuff about Bard and Thranduil and Legolas back and forth) because ‘the necromancer’ is….

The thing to understand is that Sauron never stops trying to get them all back. (The prize for getting these five back to him alive and unharmed/untouched (key) is the greatest amount). But also these five are Fucking Dangerous so regular orcs etc do not try it (nazgul would/do but also Glorfindel exists in Middle Earth at this point).

Actually now I think the time Merry and Pippin find out what is going on is when they are taken captive.

These are some designs, sketches and tests I did before I begun my piece There's An Unusual Guest In Our House for TRSB. I'll be honest, I had SO much fun with (almost) every aspect of the creation of this piece. But mainly just figuring out Thranduil gown and how it's going to be. For as much as I like how he's dressed in the movies I DO get tired of drawing the same outfits over and over again. And I honestly think his move design is missing some green, but that's a whole 'nother topic.

One thing that I'm just noticing is that the gold neckline in some of these is much lower than in the final piece, and i do like it lower... Hmm, maybe next time.

Anywho explaining why I actually do like the backrooms when it’s not oogie boogie, spoopy monster followin ya haha get jumpscared and chased idiot, under the cut :3

I have a imagination that hates me in every way possible, meaning that every corner, every empty hallway, every quiet room, has something horrible watching just barely in the edges of my vision, disappearing when I look, reappearing in the same spot when I go back to normal, the revolting face of it lingering for hours every time I close my eyes, but its simply not there, there is nothing, there never was anything, if there was footage it’d show nothing but me, and the Backrooms encapsulates that for me. It’s a quiet place with nothing but you and your imagination, maybe there are signs of life, but they’re long gone, the only monster there is the one you made up. Its that feeling when you’re home alone and hear a creek from a room you were just in, you know nothings there but you just cant help but wonder, and you start to distract yourself instead, though you still grab a knife. Just to be safe.

On top of that its also inescapable and random, all it takes to get trapped forever is to hit a wall wrong, no-clipping out of reality in the wrong place and time, taking you to an infinite and unescapable prison of yellow wallpaper, moist carpet, and buzzing lights, the terrain may change once in a while, but you’re still there, you’re still trapped, and you’re still alone.

I have a theory(spoilers for book 5)

I think another reason why Jack and bardle were hanging out so much isn’t just because Jack was bardles apprentice but is because bardle knew working on Grazts tail would weaken him and could probably kill him, so he wanted Jack to have good memories of him, and have another reason to fight for good just in case he died, but he did die later on so… 🥲

But hey that’s just a theory, a book theory >:3

headcanon, where tilda gets lost in the commotion and bard is panicking, trying to find her after the battle of the five armies ends. and all the while not letting go of sigrid and bain, their cold hands in the firm hold of his dirty ones, because he just can't lose them too. he's asking around, searches all the building that can be possible places for a hideout but she's nowhere to be found. his heart is like a lump in his throat, blocks the air from getting into his heaving lungs before dropping in terrifying defeat. he can't find her.

familiar voice comes from behind him and he spins around, pulling sigrid and bain behind him on reflex before realizing — here stood the elvenking, his figure tall and mighty even without his armor, and tilda, his youngest daughter, rested in his arms.

i think you've lost a princess, thranduil says and tilda follows it with da! exclaimed excitedly. bard feels tears prickling in his eyes the moment her voice reaches his ears.

he runs to them forgetting all the formalities that come with interacting with the elvenking, and grabs tilda off his arms.

thank you, whispers bard, crying into his daughter's hair. thank you, he repeats to thranduil as he looks up.

he imagined himself being a mess, beaten up and tired and emotionally shaken, but. the humane pain that pierced those ice blue eyes the moment bard caught the look of them, struck him. it felt familiar. no king would allow himself to break down like this, not when he has the remnants of his people to gather and care for and heal.

but a father would.

thranduil nods and steps away to leave.

take care, bard the dragonslayer. don't lose 'em again.

All the options are based from my prior 2 polls asking who people wanted Faramir’s Dad and Mom to be.

I came upon some confusion with myself at first do to my removal of all the one’s that didnt get any votes at all from the list- and so ended up with 7 mom candidates and 10 dads.

It was late enough that when i made the decision that i should take the three lowest voted dad’s and put them with the highest voted dads to even out the equation i forgot to put into consideration that that meant i’d taken six Dads out of the way. And thus decided i should line up the bottom four of each list to fix it. I realized ‘math dosent work for tired brains’ and smushed the remaining 3 together and called it a night. As a Bonus: Merry, Pippin, Fili and Kili get spots on the list. To understand what each of these pairs mean- here are some of the pros of co-parenting.

Elrond and Dain: many children (mayhem and otherwise)

Gandalf and Bolg: totally terribly absurd and polar opposite methods of raising children.

Aragorn and Smaug: compromise is not easy

Bard and Shelob: she has kids, he has kids, they’re equally horrified

Bilbo and Arwen: casual aunt and uncle vibes all the way

Beorn and Dori: mothering is a term not used lightly between them

Sméagol and the Bardlings: they’re all children your honor

Dis and Thranduil and Lobelia: Strong willed, sassy, intense group of differing backgrounds and cultures all set on raising a baby human.

Bonus:

Kili and Fili & Merry and Pippin: they handle things like an Ent on fire.

As a note this is for General co-parenting without romance between a bunch of ill adjusted peoples over a very human child with an overprotective brother.

The winning group will be written and posted of here, anything from snippets, dialogue, world traits to poetic prose. If it comes to be it will be viewable here- so choose wisely for Faramir’s new family depends on it.
