"In Izar Palace gold jewelry is the sign of special status and royalty. Even though His Royal Highness, Prince Vlad, could not wear gold jewelry until his sister became Queen, he freely gives. Each member of his circle is gifted gold jewelry by Prince Vlad himself. Even though none of them are nobles. Even though, His Highness, Prince Vlad, hardly adorns himself."
Fun lore here we go! For those that do not know, Vlad is one of my antagonists in The Ashen Magus. He's a bit of a personal fave. He grew up in Izar Palace as the second in line to the throne. He and his older sister Hypatia were the only of the many royal children that actually carried royal blood. However, they were neglected by his father as his mother, the rightful queen, started to lose her mind. He was neglected, abused and bullied. He never got to wear any gold jewelry until his older sister, Hypatia, murdered their father and then took the throne.
Who are each of the characters here? So they're part of Vlad's personal circle. A mismatched group of people who ended up serving him willingly or unwillingly. It should be fairly obvious who Vlad is, so lets go in order from the top.
With a large bangle on his wrist is Kalei. He's young, though not the youngest member of the group. He is first because he is the latest addition to the circle. Kalei was born in the Gray Class, a group of humans with no magic and unable to even perceive magic. This makes their lifespans incredibly short in a world that basically runs on magic. He was a slave who was then trained to be an assassin and kill Mehr, another one of Vlad's circle. Mehr ended up catching him and deciding he actually liked him and so asked if Vlad could keep him. Vlad ended up agreeing. The members of the Gray Class are not looked upon well and so Vlad gave him a gold bangle that stood out a lot so that no one in the palace would ever dare to look down on him. Kalei is a bit shy and soft spoken. He likes makeup and mostly blends in the the background.
Second in line is angry boy with the eyebrow piercings, Daire. He's the youngest of the group. He's 14 years old. Daire comes from a fairly normal background. But the only problem was that despite having so much magic inside of him, he was unable to use any of it. Vlad found him picking a fight with people on the streets and took him in because he decided to test and see if he could get Daire to use his magic differently. Daire is loud, very opinionated. He can and will cuss you out. He is somewhat best friends with Kalei and will yell at people for Kalei because Kalei will not. He gets into trouble for being rude a lot.
Third is Brinley. half human, half dura (@maddyisenough's oc). She ended up joining Vlad's circle against her will. She gets arrested for attacking a corrupt noble and Vlad notices her unique magic and decides to convince her to join him. When she refuses, he ends up learning that her lover snuck into Izar Palace to try and save her. So he ends up holding her lover's life hostage and ends up managing to get both of them to work for him (although her lover ends up a death mage in the general army instead). Brinley is hot headed and full of naive justice. She's not a fan of Vlad or his circle, but eventually ends up seeing way too much of who they really are to actually hate them. She struggles a lot as a result. Especially with Aruna. WHO IS NEXT.
Aruna started out as a noble and she was actually against the Vlad Order. She planned on running away with her best friend in order to join the rebel army and fight the Vlad Order. Her family ended up being moved to a city on the outskirts of Ignosi and although they were kind and benevolent, people who said they were part of the rebel army raided their residence and killed, tortured and paraded them like war prisoners. Aruna ended up being the last of her family alive and then as she was on her last legs, Vlad and his circle arrived to quell the rebellion. He looked at her and then asked her "are you going to die? just like that?" and then she realized that he was asking her if she was going to fight back. The entire time she had been trying to beg for mercy and prove her innocence. And Vlad told her to fight back and save herself instead. So she ended up using her magic to murder everyone in the area and then joined the Vlad Order instead. Being a parallel and opposite of Brinley, Aruna and Brinley struggle to get along. In another universe they would be best friends though.
Then is Zal. Zal's super fun. He's carried a one sided love for Vlad for a very very very long time (in another universe vlad finds out and decides to reciprocate but not in this one). He's very quiet and straight laced. He's kind of Vlad's personal bodyguard. (Prince and bodyguard romance anyone?). Zal is a mix of various different races. Kind of a rare one of a kind. His mother tried to kill him a bunch of times as a child and when Vlad was much younger he came across Zal who was escaping a murder attempt and then took him in because he could tell that he would be quite the useful addition to his trusted personal circle (which at the time only consisted of Lamya and Mehr).
Mehr is a personal fave. He's one of the fire folk but he has night folk blood in him too. Well tbh, mostly night folk. He's like a fourth fire folk. The Night Folk are a closed community (the result of almost being completely eradicated in wars). So when Mehr was born with both fire folk magic and night folk magic (which involves their voices), his family decided he could only have one. and since he looks like one of the fire folk they decided he couldn't be allowed to have his night folk magic. So when he was 12 his family held him down and cut out his vocal chords. That's why Vlad gave Mehr a choker like necklace, to cover the scars. Mehr is a feral and absolutely terrifying fighter. If you cut off his arms, he'll use his legs to kill you. If you cut off his legs, he'll bite you to death. He's the strongest in hand to hand combat and no magic combat of the group. But he's also the mom of the group. He makes sure everyone has had their food, he stops fights, he protecc, he makes sure if anyone's hurt they go get treated. This is also why Vlad has Mehr take care of his son, Prince Einar.
And lastly is Lamya, Vlad's right hand and most trusted. She's been with him the longest. Her mother was bribed by a noble to poison Hypatia. She was caught and Hypatia murdered her brutally. Lamya who was a budding spellcaster at the time was horrified. Vlad tricked her into thinking that Death Magic would save her mother which turned her into a Death Mage. This resulted in Vlad having control over her. She's a human and so should have died over a century ago, but because of Vlad's control she has remained alive and still looks youthful. Lamya is loyal and steadfast. There was once a time where she resented Vlad. But since she was his first loyal servant she ended up seeing that this child who was younger than her was treated like dirt even by his own servants, she realized that he had used whatever he could to make sure he didn't die. Even if it meant using her. Lamya eventually comes to understand and value Vlad deeply. Although it certainly didn't start out very well.
And finally, one small character who isn't in the art but deserves an honorable mention. Vlad has a son named Einar who isn't even a teenager yet in canon. Einar rarely receives Vlad's direct attention and always only does as he's told to do. The general consensus is that Vlad is a horrible parent to Einar. I'm not going to lie, he isn't a good parent. But Vlad has had a very interesting life and so the way he views family is interesting. He made sure everything Einar ever needed would be provided for. He assigned Mehr, one of his strongest men and yet most caring to take care of Einar. He gave Einar a sappy-as-hell middle name. He made sure Einar was always fitted with gold jewelry, no matter how quickly he outgrew them. I could write a whole essay about Vlad and Einar's relationship but not here. Yeet.

So, I tried to translate Mahoutsukai no Yome chapter 97. The main reason was because I'm curious about Ashen Eye and Stella relationship.
It was originally from portuguese, and i used google translate, there's sentence that different from the original translation, so idk if it correct or not. Even so, enjoy!

God Stella is actually brave af for being willing to go back to Chise and Elias’ house after everything that happened in season 1. The last time she showed up and ran into Elias he knocked her out and tried to kill her
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, it’s possible that she doesn’t remember that since she was being controlled by Joseph at that time, so she also may not remember being transported to his lair either. Either way it’s amazing that Chise even trusts Elias to be around her, she must’ve given him one hell of a talk about her
And then when she goes for a walk with Chise and then this happens??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She’s gotta still have PTSD from the Ashen Eye incident. As soon as she sees this fog she must be thinking how over it is and how a malevolent spirit is after and is gonna abduct her just like what happened with her brother

Stella deciding to make a pact with one of the main villains primarily because he liked her the way she was is such a mood
I'm anticipating the chaos that ensues when Chise and Elias find out though. Elias in particular always seems willing to take any excuse to make this preteen into his mortal enemy

This most recent chapter of Magus Bride only cements to me that this hard enforced 24-episode-to-a-season structure is actually really constrictive to anime (and especially adaptations of manga/light novels) because I'm now remembering that season 2 completely glossed over the fact that Ashen Eye made a pact with Stella when Chise got yoinked by Rahab (among other things like the drastic shortening of the Christmas scenes in episode 24, literally making speech bubbles out of what were dedicated conversation scenes in the manga). It's another straw on the camel's back after the awkward pacing issues that G-Witch had along with the omission of two short arcs from Sacrificial Princess that's really starting to grind my gears

So random fun fact, Zander has had multiple characters fall in love with him. And he certainly doesn't do it intentionally. The other main characters are also v attractive, but if I had to say who has had the most people confess to them, it's Zander.

Word Find Tag (rain, water, wet and shower)
Many moons ago (this should be my catchphrase by now) I was tagged by @winterandwords to search my WIP for rain, water, wet and shower, unfortunately I didn’t find the last one shower but hopefully you enjoy the rest. Thanks for the tag as always!
Just a gentle reminder, these are rough translations from The Eternal Throne.
Rain from Chapter 13: The Master.
(You can see the previous part of this scene here) (And both parts put together here)
But after a quick moment he notices something terrible happened, making him stop suddenly on his feet. The sound of thunder was no longer there. The boy couldn’t help himself and looked back and standing there in silence looked how the column of smoke rose towards the black storm clouds, emerging with them. He, waited there, taking that grimoire between his thin arms embracing it tight with the little strength he had left in him. Finally the fatigue took over his body, while rain and tears poured down his face; he couldn’t believe it, he needed to hear it just one more time. But the sound of thunder never came.
Water from Chapter 2: The Farmer.
—I would assume you have seen a lake before, there’s one close by after all— he smirked, the young man nodded annoyed in response, the magus looked up with a distant gaze while he recalled. —Good, now imagine that lake, imagine how the shore extends to both sides, if you follow it with stare you could see how it loops around the periphery and how your view reaches the opposite side and back to where you’re standing; also imagine the way the waves crash slowly in the shore and how the sky is reflected in the surface of the water. The young man took a really similar gaze just like his companion, reflecting a kind of trance while his memory was drawing images from those descriptions.
Wet from Chapter 5: The Smuggler.
The steps ended. This staircase emerged into a hallway that extended towards each side. Both of them arrived in a sewer system along its characterized and stinging odor, was also its wetness and decay that could only exist in a place buried and forgotten below the streets for years.
Well that's it for me. I hope you liked it, now it's time to pass the tag along to @verba-writing, @writingmaidenwarrior, @ashen-crest, @writeblr-of-my-own and @asher-orion-writes to search in their WIPs for the words: fire, warm, harm and rest.

The Peasant Mage Rebellion Pt1.
Tumblr media
"In the annals of Luvalon's history, the Peasant Mage Rebellion stands as a testament to the enduring struggle for equality and freedom in a land divided by privilege and power. It was a time of upheaval and unrest, when the downtrodden and disenfranchised rose up against the oppressive hierarchy of the empire. The seeds of rebellion were sown deep in the fertile soil of discontent. For centuries, the ruling elite of Luvalon, composed of noble houses and the Stygian College, had wielded unchecked power, while the common folk toiled under their yoke. The College, in particular, enforced strict control over magical knowledge, reserving it for the privileged few among the nobility while forbidding its use by the lower classes as they were thought to be unable to understand the complexity of magic, and the possibility of an uprising. Amidst this backdrop of oppression, a new class emerged: the Pages. Born of common folk with latent magical abilities, they were denied access to formal education and forbidden from practicing magic under penalty of law. Yet, as whispers of their innate talents spread, so too did their discontent with their oppressed status. The spark that ignited the rebellion came in the form of Elior the Bright, a humble Page with extraordinary magical gifts. Despite facing persecution and discrimination, Elior refused to suppress his abilities, instead choosing to harness them for the greater good. His acts of defiance inspired others like him to rise up against the unjust laws that shackled their potential. The rebellion began as a series of small-scale uprisings across the empire, led by charismatic peasant mages who rallied their brethren to the cause. Armed with their newfound magical prowess and fueled by righteous anger, they struck at the heart of their enemies, the College of Stygian Sorcerers. The peasant army waited until the Night of Saint Sanguine, the patron of Mages, knowing that the college would be all but empty with all but the lowest members at the Chapelle des Étoiles for the feast day. The college was raided and all contents that could be found inside before the building burned to the ground were taken by the rebels as they fled into the night, leaving behind an ashen testament to their new rebellion." "Chapter 1, The Coming of the Guilds: A history of the Luvalonian Guilds" Grand Magus Adeline of Tillen, 1530 PI

The first thing Gudako noticed was her head really fucking hurt.
The second was that she definitely wasn’t at Chaldea. To be honest, she wasn’t anywhere she knew. Wherever it was, she noticed one thing.
It. Stank.
Slowly, she pulled herself up. What on earth had happened? She’d been at Chaldea, in some briefing, and-
The explosion. Right. Something had gone wrong, and there’d been an explosion when Team A had been about to rayshift.
And now, she was here. Wherever here was.
Had… she rayshifted, then?
Well, she certainly wasn’t in Fuyuki, at least from what she’d seen in the briefing. Pulling herself up, she looked around. There were no lights on, and rubbish lined the street she was on. The place seemed abandoned. That, or whoever inhabited it didn’t care for cleanliness. Sighing, she began to trudge on. Sure, she was just at the organisation for work experience. But she was still a magus. She could manage, find some way to get back to Chaldea and find out just what had happened. Heck, she bet they were coming after her right now-
*Click*
There was barely a second for Gudako to cast a shield before bullets began to fly. Desperately running, she ducked behind a wall, gasping.
As she caught her breath, she could feel a sting in her leg. She looked down. Red.
That wasn’t good. In any way. Either she’d cut herself running or-
A sharp pain. Yep. It was the second option. Still, it didn’t stop her from hearing whoever her adversary was slowly creeping along, boots hitting the wet concrete. She slowed her breath. If she could just bear the pain…
…closer…
…closer…
…NOW!
She darted out, shock spell ready-
And was immediately blasted back as flames erupted in front of her. She threw her arms back, shielding her eyes from the sudden light as the sound of screams and the smell of burnt flesh were flung into the air. Tripping and falling, she cursed as another shot of pain wracked her leg, making her see stars. Gasping, she clutched it, wincing. Then, she heard steps.
She looked up, terrified. But, she wasn't met with a soldier as she expected. Instead, a woman around her age stared back, with ashen hair and covered head to toe in black - black plate armour with a lighter black decorative skirt, and a strange headpiece, along with a fur-trimmed cape. She’d just been just placing a slim sword back into its scabbard when she noticed Gudako and regarded her with a sinister grin, yellow eyes gleaming in the dying firelight.
“Well… what do we have here?”
