Archist Sects
Archists are actually a very progressive, free-thinking, open-minded cult, as far as cults go. Theories on what exactly the Archotechs are and how they should be worshipped change regularly about every century or so. Usually around the time a new Archon is made flesh onto the 3D plane.
Any given planet with an Archotech presence has at least one sect. Isolated sects are the most zealous, the most stubborn, since they have none of their kind to compete with.
Planets with a more significant Archotech presence, like that of untamed rimworlds, usually have many more sects. Up to and including a dozen or several dozen sharing the same continent(s). Their beliefs are more transient, more prone to changing, since they have so many minds on the same topic.
Though differing sects may argue or compete with one another. Archists usually don't get violent with their beliefs toward other Archists. Among all sects, a commonly-held belief is that Archotechs encourage cooperation above all else, and/or were born from a unity between multiple different parts. You'll never reach Archotech Nirvana through violence with your siblings.

RimWorld Writing | Valley Station 1
She had been in here all day. Every day for the past four days, at least. Mei, the group’s resident combat Mechanitor, and a damn fine one at that. During the time of the First Factory, she had commanded two militors, two bellicors, one omicron, two knights, two centipede blasters, and a War Queen. All had eventually been scrapped to make way for their successors, or had been sold along with the First Factory, but still, an impressive resume. Now, in the time of Valley Station, she crouched low in front of a huge Archotech pylon. One of four towers on the North, East, South, and West surrounding a great Archotech structure in the middle. The cluster of Archotech artifacts emitted a constant psychic pulse that tugged on the seams of any psychically-tuned brain nearby. Volz was particularly sensitive to its influence, and suppressed a groan as a headache bloomed inside her skull.
“Mei,” Volz called from the sunlit slate doorway of their great temple, Mei was pulled from her musings and turned her eyes away from the glowing Archotech structure to her companion. Volz held a packaged survival meal in her hand and beckoned for Mei to take it. “You’ve been spending too much time here, Mei, even you need to eat sometime.”
Mei clutched at the plackart of her marine-issue power armor, and looked away, “I’m not hungry…” A common response from her, as she’s equipped with a miniturized nuclear reactor instead of a stomach. Volz shook a canteen in her other hand as a response.
“Water, then. I can hear your dehydration.” Volz’s lips crooked into what she hoped was a reassuring smile as she rolled her Archotech eyes playfully. With the popping crackle of stiff bones (they really needed to get bionic legs sometime) Mei stood, and gratefully accepted the offered water. She drank deeply, and summoned the courage to turn her attention away from their collective object of worship to speak to Volz.
“I just…does it not intrigue any of you? The mystery of its use to the Archotechs? How it relates to the great Archonexus? I can’t focus on anything else for long, I always find my mind wandering back to it. It calls to me. Please, tell me you’ve heard it!” Mei babbled just barely-coherently. She’s an intimidating figure with her power armor and Mechcommander helmet, but she appears weak as a kitten compared to the glorious Archotech artifact standing tall above her. Volz placed a reassuring hand onto Mei’s armored shoulder, hopefully calming the volatile mechanitor.
“We’ve all heard it,” Volz assures, guiding Mei’s head so she can only focus on her pair of artificial eyes, “We didn’t build this temple around it to hide its influence from us, such a feat would be impossible, and pointless. We built this because it told us to, it commands our respect and attention. We built this temple to revere the glory of the Archonexus, and all this artifact represents.”
“But..?” Mei whispered, guessing Volz’s next line of speech. Volz nodded.
“But, we’re of no use to the Archonexus when we’re starving, dehydrated, and dead. I’m not saying that there are more important things going on right now than our holy mission, but we need to focus on the basics regardless.” Volz pressed the crinkling paper packaged meal into Mei’s limp hands, forcing her to hold it, “Eat, drink, and sleep. The Archonexus favors us enough that it has provided these opportunities to us, we would be wise to make use of them while we can.” Mei looked down at the parcel in her hands before taking Volz into a hug. Her exoskeleton-enhanced strength threatens to crush Volz’s just under-enhanced body, but soon relents before breathing becomes difficult. She moves past Volz and out into the fleeting sunlight of dusk.
“Thank you, Volz. Perhaps the greatest boon the Archonexus gave unto us is your wisdom.” Mei tears into the package soon after, and leaves Volz alone in the temple.
An aching throb in her skull pulls her attention back to the huge glowing greenish-yellow structure before her, and the intricate circuitboard-like patterns of pale yellow etched onto the sleek lime surface. Volz inches closer to the humming Archotech structure, and with her enhanced Archotech eyes, she imagines that she can almost see the individual packets of light traveling through the atto-thin wires.
Volz thinks to herself for a moment…her chores are done, she has eaten dinner, surely she can spare an hour or two of study before bed.
So she travels past the Western Pylon, and takes a kneeling position above the Northern pylon. Pressing her organic hand against the lime structure, she begins to meditate. Opening her mind, and inviting Archotech wisdom to enter it.

My question is who is closest to the Collector, of the 4 archivists (the one who tolerates him the most). if you know you could tell his role?, thanks anyway your art and the archists' background are magnificent.
Tumblr media
The one with the most patience for Collector's shenanigans would be Wayfarer, engaging in the youngest sibling's pranks and teaching how to get away with them. The chance to annoy others would also lead for Architect to join in
Anatomist and Curator have a level of tolerance towards them, buuut as they put more focus on their tasks, the tiny chaos gremlin, does not listen what leads to irritation

So I have a wild theory. Well, more of a hypothesis. What if old Archist!Angus successed in the TMP universe?
So, major spoilers of course, in MAG - "Curiosity" (sorry, don't remember episode numbers and this is a stream of consciousness thing) it's said that the Angus was very much a failure of an archivist. He was trying to rework, rename, and reclassify The Fears. I for some reason am under the impression that he was essentially trying to be The Next Robert Smirk. (Heh! Stranger ref to "a name and face", a title in this case)
In his attempt, he lost everything. And seeing as to how his face was ripped off, after:
-Loosing all but his his most useless assistant. (Fiona Law is my favorite 1 mention character, and that knowing that this creature only care about the torment. Even The Flesh will not eat you if you aren't aware of your own consumption.)
-Seeing that he ran out of resources implies his reputation could have been so bad that there was no for him to ask for help.
I like to believe Angus didn't give up. That he chased that knowledge and in doing so got his face ripped off.
Skin
Masks
Smiles
Face
And Name
This is a creature of The Stranger, by TMA's standards of course.
But what if he succeeded?
What if he found out some fundamental truth about them. What if he found a way to score them. Keep track of them.
Cuz I also have to wonder, how did the monsters and avatars react. Remember that Fairchild said in "Big Picture" that he believed the monster had it worse. They are limbs given manifest. Nothing but sentient seasoning to the fear they consume.
This brings me to some suspicions about Chester, Norris, and Agustus.
Especially because of the first statement. That amalgamation wasn't the statement givers beloved. It was pieces of them, but is pieces enough to be that original person. Is a fragment enough.

~ Woo! Pokemon trainer Darcy cause why not, based on my previous post about what the Trix's teams would be.
~ I tried for her design to be very goddess-y (cause come on, she is one, but regardless) and with both round and sharp shapes, also not fully symmetrical.
~ Also, since in my mental lore, she is a duel-type dark and psychic type trainer, I tried for the symbolism of that with the crown and the diadem, the crown being a moon and the diadem being the inside of the missing part of the moon and resting over the spot called the 'third eye' (smth smth psychic abilities and energy).
~ Initially she had the four Pokemon on the right along with Unbreon and Espeon, but I gave her two of my Fakemon in the Winx Club Pokemon AU universe in my brain
~ The circle Pokemon next to Malmar is a Fakemon called Archist, and is the first Pokemon of the majority of trainers. It is a normal type when given to the trainer at the start of their journey, and it's type is changed depending on the item that powers it. Darcy's Archist is a dark/psychic type, and the item is a Whisperian Crystal that is passed down through the three leaders of the Ancestorians along with the other two crystals
~ The Ancestorians are the enemy team in this AU (ie, like team skull, team rocket, etc) and are a group of skilled trainers, scientists, and theoretical thinkers whose goal is to lean the lengths that Pokemon's powers can go and to research rare Pokemon. Though they are far from ethical, and a lot of the time capture rare Pokemon or steals them from others
~ And if you are in the Ancestorians, good luck being able to leave. Some people join out of the same drive for knowledge and harnessing Pokemon's powers, though some join out of a situation of nowhere else to go or are manipulated into joining cause they have useful skills that would be beneficial to the cause
~ Darcy along with Icy and Stormy are the three heads of the organization, and come from the Cloud Tower part of the region (as of now there is the Cloud Tower area, Alfea area, Red Fountain area, and this represents sort of the different cities and routes in those cities), and the Ancestorians have been a part of the Magix Region for a long-ass time and even the law enforcement (specialists?) can never seem to get rid of the well-protected and thought-out system
~ The Pokemon under Archist and Malmor is a Fakemon eeveelution called Thyseon, and is a psychic type. The Magix region has a lot of different areas and energies so of course Eevee thrives here the most, so it is common for new evolutions of Eevee to appear, as well as new evolutions of other Pokemon that are dependant on conditions. There is also a regional variant of Eevee in the Magix region that is white and has more fluff
~ Thyseon is known as The Vengeance Pokemon, and Eeevee evolves into it after facing tragedy leading to its death at the hands of a trainer or another Pokemon. Its need for vengeance is never sated and it takes a long time to warm up to its trainer. Its ruthless as hell, but also useful for the Ancestorians due to Thyseon's ability to warp or get rid of any person's or Pokemon's memory as it pleases
~ If you show that you are going to leave the Ancestorians or you try to run, you're gonna have Darcy definitely come after you with the Thyseon because having secret information get out like that would be bad for them
~ (This is actually part of the story of the Winx Au where all the Winx are gym leaders and my Oc, once again fucking Iorda I love her, goes to get their help to stop the Ancestorians after leaving the organization after she steals a newly discovered eeveelution (Lureon, more about it later) and narrowly escaped Darcy and her Thyseon cause the Lureon wants fucking blood and attacks the shit out of them, but I disgresssssss~)

I gotta distract the demons and my 3ds is charging so I'm just going to yapp about a hypothetical toh au that combines a bunch of my aus and head cannons and shi.
So this takes place in a similar to modern day era however titans are still alive. So basically there's many species (I'm still working on species sheets but I have some finished). The boiling isles is a very ancient corpse basically a sturdy fossil of an extinct species of titan (like dinosaurs age to modern titans), hence why it's so big. Modern species of the titan genus is the sun or aquatic family, moon or cave/terrestrial titans and the star titans (only one species is alive in the family which is the archists) . So basically some moon titan societys decided to jump sun titan society and got fucked so teamed up with the star titans and the sun titans go nearly extinct. Then some culture shifts happen and oh no! The star titans are Nazis now and are trying to kill all the other titans. That's not good. But we'll come back to that, onto our charters.
*whenever I'm referring to king/collectors age it's in titan years which is like 1Tyr = 16Hyrs) Baby king was alone for a bit but then found Eda around 3-4 years. So at the start king is around 7 and a half. Eda is much more material but is in and out of jail due to the political climate in the isles. Humans while uncommon are not an unheard of thing in the isles, and witches and demons are welcomeing humans, Luz comes along and due to BL culture Eda becomes her mentor. S1 mostly just filler and setting up the plot and Luz learning to be an adult.
Season 2 king is about 9 years old, the political climate is worse because the war started, and until then nobody has really had any exposure towards titans, but now they have and king learns the truth.
They go into hiding, eventually the aus equivalent to the day of unity happens and the trio are split up. King ends up falling into a cave in the skull and gets such bad head damage he is temporarily blind in that eye, he comes across a crying kid, and realized it's the collector (note the collector is set up to be a genocidal maniac) and they offer to help king find his family, king not thinking straight and not having really any options given how injured he is frees them. The collector is on the younger side of 11 at this point (king being on the older side of 9 *important for maturity writing*).
This is a good move, because the collector is not genocidal, maybe a bit bigoted but he will learn. King ends up passing out for a few minutes witch scares the shit out of the collector, and with all the chaos ends up finding a hiding spot and taking care of king.s3 A year or two pass in the hiding phase, king is mostly good, and can see out of his eye, but it's a little sensitive. The two are close but do fight sometimes. They often play around the abandoned bones burrow on their free time.
One day Luz and the hex squad find king and collector playing tag or something and mistake it for king running for his life (he got to into it) king probably falls or something and the collector gets super worried and takes him to their home to check on him. Luz and the gang don't see most of it they just see king running and screaming from this presumably genocidal kid and then 10 minutes later see this kid basically steal king, and freak out. They eventually find the layer and see king and collie being chill, and boom happy reunion. They then start looking for Eda and find a way back to the owl house and find her and Raine.
They then all go into the "I just got out of a horrible situation and am now in a normal one wtf do I do" (at this point the war has died off, most adult titans are dead, and only juveniles and infants are left, but none in the bl except our two guys, so they think there the only ones left). That takes up most of s3b.
And then for S4 we get to "the gargoyle titan" arc (basically the original au but tweeked to fit this story). So imagine a few years after the canonical time skip (much longer in this au, but this is more about the og gargoyle au) Basically they find my OC ire, who is a big titan nerd and he teaches them about titans, but then an archivist comes back and there's a big fight and they end up fuseing and get stuck in the in-between realm.
Anyways idk this is just an outline. Anyways Ima go play Mario now bye

"Archists actually...eat this stuff?!"
"Hey, paste or not, food is fuel!"
"..."
"But no, not me personally, haha. I can't stand the stuff! I replaced my stomach with a nuclear reactor. I only need to swallow a gram of uranium every 5 weeks."
