what i always heard about chinese is that there are tones that change the meaning of the word if you say it in a high voice or a middle voice or a low voice which i and everyone saying so thought sounded really weird and difficult and later learning that its actually the tone of your voice in the context of the sounds around it and not that its like, objective musical tones and an A means something different than a C was like. wow is literally everything the american public knows about china just random orientalist junk
