genuinely curious how the writers and larger dragon age audience would treat thom rainier if instead of being appropriately* repentant and putting himself in prison he blew up a major orlesian government building to instigate a chevalier rebellion or tried to have someone do some necromantic blood magic ritual involving uncertain danger and possible sacrifices to bring the innocent children he ordered killed back to life
#*appropriately as in showing the expected amount of remorse in the appropriate way in a society founded on guilt and shame#i think blackwall actually tells us a lot about how dragon age's writers conceptualize justice and deservedness of punishment#im glad we get the option to forgive him but why do we get the option when anders is exiled at best?#and later characterized as a villain by dai#when solas is willfully imprisoned at best and trapped in a horrifying psychological torture chamber at worst?#blackwall gets a full redemption happy ending if inky so chooses#and im not saying he shouldnt#i forgive him every time#but its so interesting to me that narratively speaking#he seems to earn his happy ending through submission to punishment via imprisonment#as does solas but blackwall is portrayed far more sympathetically overall#there isnt the same meta-level narrative slander and clear agenda on behalf of the writing to make you feel a certain way about his crimes#as there is with anders and solas#why? whats the difference? what did he do to buy himself that narrative goodwill?#put himself in prison? why do the writers love carceral punishment so much lmfaooo#mine#if you wanna screenshot these tags and add them to the reblog feel free#im realizing i prob just shouldve put all of this in the post but its too late now#i think theres actually a strong argument that thom does not do nearly ENOUGH to right his wrongs#where is his effort to reform the orlesian military? where is his criticism of orlesian imperialism?#how does serving in the inquisition have a direct impact on the people he harmed? it doesnt#when you compare him to someone like roy mustang#yes im comparing him to roy mustang this is my blog and you are never going to escape roy mustang comparisons here#roy's political ambitions following his war crimes are directly related to those war crimes#and his goals directly benefit the same group of people he harmed#their ancestors and family members literally#meanwhile blackwall just kind of does vague “good” deeds and gets a full redemption#he really does not make much effort to repatriate the harm he did as a soldier#he just moves on#which again.... no shade to blackwall. my inky forgives him

Wasn't gonna put in another ask so soon, but I've gotta know; how have Cosmo and Anti-Cosmo swapped courts so many times? What was it like the first (and maybe the last) time(s) it happened?
How? Due to their overwhelming magic of course!! Cosmo was the most powerful baby to be born in Fairyworld at the time. His emotional dysregulations was more than enough to trigger a swap.
Growing up, Anti-Cosmo had to help his counterpart control his outbursts and magic, just to make the swaps stop. He's the reason Cosmo hadn't fully destroyed Fairy World. As a result, these two are closely bonded in ways that no other Fairy or Anti-Fairy tend to be.
It's something their sons have in common.

#15 year old Chang Geng losing his mind fuming alone in his room listening to steampunk wuxia linkin park#while 15 year old Binghe is in the next room over cheerfully updating his teacher crush blog#like yeah teen Binghe is the amount of embarrassed and shy about his feelings that you'd expect from any crush#and he absolutely does have SO many self-hatred issues#especially post demon reveal and abyss-kicking when he's older#but the whole teacher-student/age gap aspect is the one thing about his relationship with sqq that never seems to be a problem for Binghe#meanwhile I just finished spl volume 1#and at this point I'm pretty sure Chang Geng would sooner kill himself and/or whoever he was talking to#before he'd admit that he has a thing for his godfather#which like. yeah man. dude. my life fucking rules. feathered velociraptor shleich figurine for $2 at the op shop. captain of one of my favourite ferries complimented my shirt TWICE (and we are now introduced!). new friend waved me over to sit next to her in a lecture. found a way to make my pony collection even more enjoyable. sky was so beautiful it was a crazy pale blue and there were cirrus clouds catching the sun. the ocean looked like molten green glass. I'm going swimming in the sea and having lunch with a few friends in a weeks time. I've earned 500 dollars this week just from my art which is a milestone I didn't expect to hit without joining a company. I'm not feeling as fatigued as usual. it rained in the morning which was really lovely. I thought I was going to be super late for uni but I made it right on time. I'm kind of in love with the world today
#listen to my gibberish boy#all of these are small things. some of them you have to consciously notice e.g. the sky. the sea. the rain#one of them is just 'not being late'. but my god. everything together amounts for so much#maybe silly but noting down all the good things that happen to me during the day has been absolutely incredible for my mental health#I'm so serious. its a big reason I went from crying every day to crying maybe once a month. you NEED to look for the tiny good.#the tiny good is always there. even if your life is miserable. maybe the water you drank was refreshing. maybe you talked to a friend#maybe you had a nice dream. or watched a funny video.#everything good that happens to you. notice it. think about it when it happens. it's crazy how big of a difference it can make sometimes#so much of misery or happiness is perception. if you tell yourself 'today was a horrible day so much went wrong' then in your mind#it will become a horrible day forever. not to say you can't have bad days#I have bad days fairly often! it's just that I try not to give the shit things too much attention#like ALSO today. my fever kept going. I had a stomach ache. I had to catch up on 3 hours of lectures. I tripped on my way through uni.#but if I dwell on those things they'll become a permanent part of my memory of today. you sometimes have the choice to remember or forget#certain things. try it for a few weeks [: it might make a difference

Jorgen’s usually not the one in charge of assigning godchildren. There’s an entire department that weighs and classifies potentail Godkids to the right Fairy. Although it’s on strike at the moment.
So Jorgen has to do it by hand, until the union negotiations are resolved. Turns out trying to use paperclips is very hard. Itty bitty paperclips. Big muscular biceps. Not a good combo.

#the hotel that WASN'T SUPPOSED TO CHARGE ME UNTIL I GOT THERE charged me and it bounced because I don't have that money in my account!#so like yes I made the purchase but also no because it wasn't supposed to?#I need to make hotel reservations to get the grant money but in order to make the reservations I guess I need the money 😭#tbey won't just give me a set amount I have to go through the school for flights and I have to spend money I don't have on hotel and food#so they'll reimburse me#which is why I chose PAY AT CHECK IN NOT PAY NEARLY 18 HOURS AFTER I MADE THE RESERVATION#so I can show the school exactly how much it will cost#anyway that was great to wake up to. now I have to transfer from my savings and just hope the school holds up their end of the deal and#pays me back!#AND MY RESERVATION WAS CANCELLED. SO IT MIGHT COST MORE NOW
