Lila

She spent her first 14 years of life with her mom, aunt, and cousin in the domes, training to be a frontline soldier (she wanted to be an ambassador, but she needed some experience as a soldier before they could promote her to that). When she wasn’t focusing on military schooling, she read about Salmonid culture (and what little she could find about inklings), and later learn some basic words of the Salmonid and inkling languages from her cousin (who got freshly placed into the communications unit). She got exposed to the Calamari Inkantation at the age of 12 while her class was at a field trip to watch DJ Octavio fight, but she didn’t leave the domes until after she graduated from the academy at age 14. She didn’t get to see the surface for long before she, Cap’n Cuttlefish, and Agent 3 got stuck in the Deepsea Metro for a month, with no other choice but for Lila to perform trials and fight her way out. After escaping the metro, she got officially inducted as Agent 8 of the NSS, became roommates with Agent 4, completed high school, and eventually began working on weapon repairs in Ammo Knights (and also got retraumatized by whatever matrix type plot is happening in Side Order, but that could very well be an AU or a simulation from how Nintendo described the game synopsis).

Sicily Dyzerie

There's a lot but basically she's born and grew up in an orphanage and joined the military as Agent 3 because the only thing she knew about her family was that it was military related. Her life goes on and after Octo Expansion she learns that all this time she's been Marie's half-sister and (unbeknownst to her) was given up at birth. After a few years she's happily together with her wifey Kaity and is dealing with the separation with them both being in totally different campaigns :)

AUUGHHH i just remembered something i asked elsewhere and you'd probably wanna hear it too does your cap 3 do the 'dj sango' stuff? are their beats straight fucking ass? are they good? is it special to them or more so just a hobby?

YEAGHH they do !!!! DJ SANGO is their full-blown mysterious dj alter ego, that they began a little after splat1. they do a Lot to keep a mysterious persona and keep their identity hidden, & they're not super well known, but they do have a bit of a following!

they mostly just post music online, but very occasionally play Very underground shows. the only exception being when they played at the low water party, which is how a large portion of their fans know them. (theres probably a lot of "i knew them BEFORE they were cool" going on in the DJ SANGO fandom...)

their beats are.. pretty good, i'd say! very fast and electronic, kind of experimental, especially the stuff they were making just post OE. often very dj octavio/turquoise october/dedf1sh inspired, i imagine a lot of listeners are surprised to learn that DJ SANGO is an inkling since their music sounds very octarian. they do a lot of remixes of popular turf war music in the same vibe as splattack (octo)

its something they're a little embarrassed about, theyd be mortified if someone on the street recognized them, but they have fun with it.. and it was definitely a big artistic outlet when they were processing the whole fought a powerful military leader at 14 thing and also the whole got possessed and almost died for reals thing. theyre troubled sometimes and they make harsh music about it.

Hiro (Captain 3) is quiet most of the time as he has a hard time articulating his thoughts into words. For a while he used to act all cocky to hide his quietness and anxiousness, however he's stopped doing that post Hero-Mode (which takes place June-July of 2015).

Celeste (Agent 4) is quite reckless when it comes to things and is a talkative person. Though, she tends to talk her mouth off a bit too much, which leads to trouble. Little random fact but Celeste happens to be Eging Jr.'s sister, hence knowing the rest of Team Emperor. Celeste and Prince are super close friends, and Prince happened to be the first person she came out to as trans!

Octavia (Agent 8) tends to be quite sassy and intimidating, though she's a really great friend once you get to know them. Like her father DJ Octavio, they use a bunch of music terminology when speaking. She can get serious when she needs to, such as when they were leading their squad pre-Octo Expansion.

Marnie (Neo 3) doesn't talk often. But when they do, it's either a blunt remark or an entire infodump about various Octarian engineering. When talking, they use a bunch of military terms that Cap'n Cuttlefish can't even understand. Marnie struggles with speaking the Inkling language, though they got a hold of the writing fairly well.

Slight notes about their appearances:

Hiro has the sanitization scar (like most Agent 3s do) and the eye with the scar is a lighter green iris with a white pupil (he's like completely blind in that eye yet he still uses chargers)

Celeste has w-shaped pupils and a bunch of freckles.

Octavia has the rival octoling hair (which you probably know what I mean)

Marnie has Octo Pearl/Sunny's hair except slightly shorter

Did Warabi and Ikkan ever get formally Married if so how did that go or just simply them being happy at their wedding or anniversary or something

Hello hello! I actually sat down so many times to think deeply into their relationship since basically Nintendo comes with nothing really interesting to me ending using the same plot of "octo in octarian military",,, so this is gonna be long

I'll drop dead all I've gathered in my head for so far:

late 2014 they ever first met outside the country and Warabi left him his contact

On 2016 Ikkan left officially SquidSquad

Around the summer of 2017 he got back into contact with Warabi

They stablished and Ikkan tried to speedran the whole legal banding process

On the same year they started the music production under Warabi's management and Ikkan's creative process

On October of 2018 they will debut their first album

Here is when I start going nuts,,, So you see, I love them together and having this complicated relationship of having a lot of wrong ideas of the other but then slowly breaking the ice, start having empathy and a lot of same shared experiences,, With time and patience building this kind of solid friendship. And at the same time, Warabi developing this hard crush on him but Ikkan is very clueless cus whenever he tries to approach Warabi just backs off ( I won't specify much if i ever turn this into something solid)

But on the other way, I don't trust Nintendo at all and at this point, I'm my own Nintendo and making my own thing completely out of canon I'm putting my hand on fire they'll make a huuuge age gasp between them

In some ideal world where nothing bad happens, After around 2020 they started officially dating and have been for around of 2023 years of relationship, although completely hidden from the public on Warabi's recommendation, I think they'll get married around their mid 30s and will have their kid during that time.

After a long hiatus, they would put to an end on Diss-pair project because they both fully wanted their daughter to have present fathers. Warabi stopped doing trips and Dj and just focused on music producing, sometimes even at home just to be closer to her. For Ikkan he would fully drop on music and focusing on his real passion writing, writing anything: from kid books, lyrics for a show, even from silly poems his kid would make. Helped also Ichiya on his scripts for his personal comics (Ichiya is also into art and crafts apart from music)

Her other Octarian crew members returned to earth but Maria place was taken up by return cargo. There have been occasional supply flights to keep her going since that time. She is in good humor, but wants to come home.

In the 10 year since she has been on the station, she has accumulated flight pay and interest amounting to almost 15,000,000,000 Geso. This is held in a trust at the Octo Mountain Trust Association. If can obtain access we to this money, we can place a down payment with the Octarian Space Authorities for a return flight to bring him back to Earth. I am told this will cost 3,000,000,000 Geso. I decided to finally get around to drawing a reference for my version of Agent 8, Lila.

- She is best friends with Coral and has been her roommate since she arrived in Inkopolis Square.

- Has a fear of failure due to the tests she endured in the metro (and also a mild fear of blenders, but as long as nobody turns a blender on without warning she’s fine).

- She knows how to use most weapon types due to her time in the military academy, but prefers using E-Liters in turf wars so she can take down opponents from a good safe distance.

Life in the Domes

- Before escaping to the surface, Lila lived in the domes in Beaker’s Depot of Octo Canyon.

- Her mom, her aunt, and her cousin were the more prominent relatives in her life, as her father was busy working with the Energy Commission to solve the energy crisis.

- She was enrolled in the military academy from age 6 until mere days after she turned 14.

- Lila aspired to be an ambassador during the early days of her schooling, but due to her needing experience as a soldier and for that (and her surprisingly decent knowledge of weaponry at the time) the teachers shoved her into the soldier classes (that didn’t stop her from reading up on the cultures of neighboring territories in her free time, though).

- She came within earshot of the Calamari Inkantation at age 12 whilst on a field trip to watch DJ Octavio take down the New Squidbeak Splatoon (her cousin was also within range).

- She remained in the domes for about 2 more years until she admitted to her mom and cousin how she truly felt about living in the domes, and got smuggled out the night after she graduated from the military academy.

Miscellaneous Details

- Has picked up on parts of both the Inkling and Salmonid languages from her cousin, who worked in communications.

- Thus, her being mute around Cap’n Cuttlefish when she woke up in the metro was less of “I don’t understand you” and more of “I feel scared of you but I can’t pinpoint why.”

- Became the Communications and Assistant Weapons Expert of the New Squidbeak Splatoon a few years after she escaped the metro.

- Tried to join a few Salmon Run shifts with Coral back in Inkopolis, only to regret it immediately due to understanding what the Salmonids were saying (will now only work a shift at Grizzco if a Bug Run is occurring).

So about the octo backup dancers, what exactly do they do immediately following the defeat of DJ Octavio?

after dj octavio is defeated in splatoon 2 and they watch callie get de-hypnoshaded and such, the back up dancers kinda realize they gotta live for themselves now. and they leave for the surface world! they all stick close together and get a small apartment in inkopolis to live together in and soon, fall fully in love with each other in.

i cant imagine theyd ever float in the groups that would lead them back to their old commander

as for shiver, well, I think theyd just be so baffled and embarassed and just, run away, i think, before shiver could see them, since they werent the nicest to shiver in the military (the backup dancers thought shiver was a lil shit) but thats just in the au where shiver was an octarian military dude

Here are my agents with some information about them. I figured I should make their design when in casual wear also this info is going up to about a week from the current chapter (I just made them in splatoon since I can't draw) and I may update this occasionally

First is Hachi (agent 8)

To be fair her design is mostly how she was portrayed in the Octo expansion trailer but I think the shoes are different also a note her eyes are meant to be a deeper color of green but splat 3 doesn't give that option

Age: 17

Weapon: e-liter

Backstory: grew up orphaned in the octerian domes, which made her a bitter and problematic person who would be dropped by most people and left without friends until a girl named Lucy gets assigned with her on a school project. Instead of just ignoring her like everyone else she went out of her way to learn about and try and befriend her which took awhile but eventually worked making the two best friends and practically unseparable. Even more so after Lucy's parents adopted Hachi. This friendship also made Hachi become her true ,much more hyper loud and joyful, self. Eventually as happens with all octolings she was drafted into the military along with Lucy as Scouts. the two gained a reputation for being extremely effective but also slacking off a lot which put them at odds with their commanders quite a bit. After a few few years of service they are called to stop agent 3 from getting to the last kettle before preparations were done. Hachi tells Lucy to run and fights the agent solo, the two fight for a while before Hachi is able to knock 3 over and attempt to finish them but falls over herself and lands on the agent causeing a very awkward moment for them both and also causing a mutual crush. After this happens 3 eventually gets up and goes to fight the DJ and Hachi goes back to Lucy. Her and Lucy find themselves witness to agent 3 fight against DJ Octavio during which the calamari inkantation was played causeing Hachi's brainwashing by the DJ to be removed and give her a will to leave solider life but she soon learns that Lucy covered her ears and didn't hear the melody and since Lucy didn't want to run she couldn't bring herself too. After a few years Lucy learns that Hachi was not loyal to the military and reluctantly reported her causeing her to make a run for the surface. She barely makes it out of there and finds herself on a mountain and conveniently not too far from where agent 3 and Cap'n cuttlefish are on a mission they see each other but are soon knocked out by an unseen figure. Hachi then wakes up in the deep sea Metro without any of her memories. You know the story from there. They stop the telephone from destroying the city Hachi clears out the stations to get her Memories Back then fights her own inner demons then makes her way to the surface with the captain and agent 3 where she meets up with Callie, Marie, agent 4 and agent 5.

Personality: rather hyper and fun loving, always talking and doing things but she also carries guilt knowing she did things that the directly harmed the city while she was a soldier and not knowing where Lucy is or being able to bring her with her when she had the chance.

Learned Inkling from a book she stole from an octarian spy during her time in the military

Sophia (Agent 4)

a lot of my motivation for her story comes from EikaPrimes agent 4 series on Ao3 but I'm trying to make more of a distinction

Age:15

Weapon: dapple dualies

Backstory: grew up in a small town in calamari country her family consists of her mother her father her older sister and her younger brother. Her parents were self-absorbed and more concerned about their images then about her and what she wants. Throughout her life they belittled and mocked her for her interests and constantly make her clean the messes they make and since her parents were like this her older sister stepped in to make her feel more like herself leading to a close relationship between the two. she tries to like her brother but given the fact that he is their parents' favorite has led to a silent resentment from her. She wanted to go to inkopolis when she was 14 to become a turfer but made the mistake of telling her parents that and they forbid her from going since they did not believe that was a good career. Shortly after her sister moved abroad to go to college and she only had phone calls from her every once in awhile causing her much stress eventually not too far from her 15th birthday she manages to convince her parents she's going to be studying in inkopolis so they will let her go but during the week leading up to this she tells her sister this and learns that due to the cities distance she will no longer be able to contact her sister this leads Sophia to snap at her, from the stress she's under, then hang up leaving her feeling extremely guilty for the way they left off and desperate to make up for it but unable to. She then makes it to inkopils. While there she decides to follow a strange woman into a water drain, this woman ends up being Marie who makes her Agent 4. 4 has a rough time with the canyon at first, partly stemming from her worries that she'll mess everything up, but gets the hang of it. Then one day. A strange Inkling named Alex follows her into the canyon. At first his large stature many scars and tough demeanor freak her out (the fact is first instinct was to pull out his gun did not help either) as well as the fact she was nowhere near a respawn point and neither was Marie who was standing only a few feet behind her but despite they're rough meeting they eventually become good friends and she starts to look at him like a brother in a sense, not that she would say that out loud. After a while the captain agent 3 and Hachi all show up and she becomes quick friends with them as well ,even having Hachi live with her.

Personality: like Hachi she is loud, hyper and joyful but she also has a mischievousness that Hachi doesn't. But she also thinks lowly of herself seeing her self as inferior to her friends. This is also added with a desire to impress and do good by others even at her own cost. Fun facts

She is very smart and graduated high school early but can still be navie at times

Dispute her short time in inkopolis she has gotten quite far and manged to own a high end apartment and reached high rank and level

Is hopeing that she can one day convince Alex to take his mask off

Sleeps far less than she should

She is bi

No longer goes by Sophia because just hearing it brings back bad memories instead uses 4

Is currently looking for a ranked team

Mains dualies but is very good with all weapons due to her agent work

Backstory: grew up relatively happy with her mother and father in a decent part of inkopolis. Until her 9th birthday in which her mother died in front of her, pushing her out the way of a speeding car during the party. This caused her to feel extremely guilty for the death which was not helped by her dad also blaming her out of anger for the loss of his wife. he soon turned to alcohol to deal with the loss but this made him physically abusive towards 3 (her name was the same as her mother's and she stopped going by it since it reminded her of the death) this coupled with the guilt turned her from a loud, calm, happy, extroverted person to a shy, angry, introvert. Eventually when she turns 14 she fights back against her dad, kicks his ass and then runs away to the plaza where she is recruited by Captain cuttlefish and helps him save the zapfish and stays with him to patrol and keep the city safe and because she doesn't have any thing else. Eventually she is found living in the valley by callie and marie but to her surprise is taken in to their home and is basically made their little sister. You know the story from there goes to metro and gets sanitized but is saved by hachi and realizes she is an octoling she fought awhile ago and had had a small crush on her which has only gotten bigger. Now she is in the city with two more agents one of which has a silent bias against her (he is working on it) but she still enjoys her time there.

Personality: is mostly silent and acts more grumpy than she is but will sometimes turn back to her extroverted self when she is doing something she enjoys

Fun facts

Works as a profreshonial turf trainer who is widely revered for her aggressive but effective training style

Is by far the strongest and most skilled of the agents due to her many more years of experience

Is a very good cook

Her eye still sort if itches from time to time and is not as effective as it used to be but mostly is unaffected

Can get cocky and overconfident a lot when playing turf

More octarian princess headcanons

1. Despite her transformation into a octoling, she retains her height and is considered short for octoling standards. Her short stature make her very well protected. At first, she didn't get octarian military training because of her height but she want to prove her skills in battle and She completes the training course with flying colours. Callie always wondered why she is shorter than the octolings. DJ Octavio tells her she was born with a growth problem that lead to other issues, leading to her needing to take her medicine regularly to prevent them coming back(that a lie he made up, there is no growth problem and the medicine is to prevent her turning into her true form)

2. Callie disliked and distrust inklings at first but grew out of it after two years of living with the inklings

3. She has a lot more techno influence in her music than her main counterpart. Think J-Pop mixed with techno and dubstep.

4. Because of her adoptive father’s influence, she quickly becomes invested in music and becomes a famous idol to the Octarians(she would wear the splatoon 2 outfit as a idol). She's present in a lot of propaganda aimed at children and she's very popular. Octavio serve as her manager and producer.

5. Octavio is also a overprotective parent to Callie.

6. Seeing how everyone in Octo Valley is suffering an energy crisis, Callie had a kindhearted desire to help getting the zapfishes for her people. DJ Octavio is initially skittish about letting her go out to do so, worried for her safety and that she might be recognised. after a lot of begging and pleading, Dj Octavio finally gives in and let his adoptive daughter join on his mission to steal the great zapfish.

7. I can see her being the harley quinn to Octavio's joker minus the romantic and abusive parts.

8. She gain a love for wasabi thanks to Octavio.

Ok so like the urge has overcome me to talk about Shelly. Shelly is from Octo Valley, She was born and raised there and was part of the Octarian Military, Not only this, but Her Lover was too Despite these two being old characters her lover doesn't have a name so i'll call them Reel for now.

Anyway, Reel was part of the crew who were helping DJ Octavio when he was having his first battle with Agent 3 for the Zapfish. When they Started hearing The Calamari Inkantation something changed, Now I personally believe the Calamari Inkantation makes Inklings and Octolings have the same urge that The Alternans had that got washed into their dna. Which is to see the sky. Because The Calamari Inkantation and Humanity's Last Wishes are the only thing we Know are in Inkling and Octoling DNA. (I'll get into that later)

Anyway, while they heard that song they chose to secretly record it, and then once the Zapfish was taken back by the squidbeak splatoon, and Shelly was concerned for what would come next, Reel couldn't get that song out of their head, and ended up showing Shelly.

It wasn't Immeadiate, but over the next few months Shelly and Reel realised a lot of flaws in their society, and really wanted to get out, they were likely inspired by a lot of things like other rebels and stuff, but after a while they decided they just needed to leave, to see the sky.

Shelly was a strong person, phsycially stronger then Reel but Reel did outrank her, So as they were making their escaped it was Reel who got recognised and not her, Reel told Shelly to keep running and that they'd meet with her in the 'deep sea', (as it'd be easier to find each other there then the lands with clear skies as they are much more vast) Shelly then spent years in the Deep Sea Metro, waiting almost every day to see if Reel would show up, while she did wish to see the sky she wished to be with Reel more... She never personally participated in any Kamaco tests, She just lived a life down there. Learned the language better, made a few friends but was overall alone.

Then one day, the deep sea opened up a lot more to the surface, like it became MUCH Easier to go to the surface from the deep sea metro, so she did. She felt the relief of finally being able to see what her and Reel wanted to see so bad. After experiencing the light, she couldn't handle going back to the dark.. so she moved to the closest city nearby, Inkopolis. It wasn't long before she found a place to rent, a small building with only 6 or so Apartments. She rents from a Splatsville Octoling named Goopy, Goopy is Pretty laid back and smokes and plays turf. They do street art and get their money from some mysterious source.

every month or so Shelly returns to the deep sea for a few days to see if Reel has returned, she has posters up in there of Reel and to call her if someone sees them, But it's been years since she ran off, and she doesn't know if she'll see Reel again.

Anyway that's Shelly!!! i want to talk about her more but augh her current life isnt too focused on reel since -while they both acted like soulmates- she hasn't seen them in years.

TPWCH Fun Facts Day 37

Let’s talk about DJ Octavio!

I love him so much you have no idea

Basically, he’s just an all-around fucking genius, the embodiment of dark academia, with the unfortunate quirk of being a raging morosexual.

His downfall, though, is that he has a bit of Victor Frankenstein Syndrome. I like to think he did the best he could suddenly being put in charge of an entire species at a pretty young age. But it kinda went like, “Fuck yeah, I just single-handedly created an entire civilization! But damn, it kind of sucks.” Many of the problems with Octarian society result from Octavio overcompensating for what he saw as the follies of Inkling society. (He’s the kind of person who would use the word “folly.”)

Also, I don’t want to focus too extensively on misandry because feels kind of icky to talk about with everything going on in the world right now, but basically gender roles in Octarian society are completely flipped and have been throughout history. So DJ Octavio is kinda like our equivalent of Queen Victoria, the first male ruler in a long line of female rulers, slaying and making things happen, even while getting a decent amount of hate just for their gender.

Another of his weaknesses is being too trusting in humanity (octo… octity? octolingity?), which is why he’s unaware of just how badly the officers he’s appointing are treating Octolings in the military. He’s not really aware of how much corruption is going on because he just kind of trust everyone to do their job. He knows that Kamabo Co. exists but has no idea about the extent of what they’re doing.

More on the Octarian military tomorrow! I’ll be clearing some things up about what it is, and more importantly, what it is not!

And to add to this not only is it not a pothole whatsoever but it makes perfect sense in universe!

You see, The Great Turf War was a civil war not a world war! It took place in Inkadia and the only octarians affected were the ones who hailed from that area! To prove this we have…

1. The Circumstances in Which Octavio is in Alterna

In game it’s implied and in the art book it’s stated that members of his army went missing and that’s why he’s in Alterna, making him and his people’s presence there something that isn’t ordinary. And while you could argue that it’s the hair that’s what’s out of the ordinary, the art book says “The Octarians who suddenly disappeared while under DJ Octavio's strict management who were somehow discovered to be in Alterna.” directly implying that they went missing first and were found to be foozified later.

2. Warabi

1/2th of the band Diss-Pair. Not only are his parents are famous actors, but it’s stated that “He grew up with classical music education for gifted children” (something that doesn’t fit in to what we know about the Octavian army) and that he’s traveled to 20 different countries in a year, which would’ve been difficult if he were underground. While you could say that he did that AFTER leaving, his bio also includes the fact that “He met Ikkan [the other member of the duo] on a tour overseas” meaning that even though the band debuted AFTER Octo expansion they’d have to have met BEFORE it.

3. Out of Universe Terminology

There has been an interesting trend in some translations, and that is 8 being referred to as an “Octarian octoling” not just an “octarian” but specifically “octoling”. This implies the existence of NON Octarian octolings, which we see in game.

As we know, the inklings and octolings spread themselves out around the globe. The idea that all of them rallied together under one leader to wage a war in one specific place is something that could not have happened, and it has been proven that it did not.

And unless there are any questions or objections, I rest my case.

I love the detail that both Octoling idols consistently emphasize how important friendship is to them.

It makes me wonder if that could even be considered a part of Octoling culture. Considering that it’s likely that all biological family most Octolings have had to be left behind when they defected from the Octarian military…

Sorry im postiing a lot but yeah despite many more complex feelings Warabi is very much excited to be here and around other Octolings and just, mollusks in general. They’re having a good time being around species they have more in common with and talking to people who come from backgrounds other than “rich and/or famous for most of their lives”. They feel like they’re finally getting to really sort through who they are and they’re probably the happiest they’ve ever been

General Splatoon headcanons part 1

I like to draw octolings with the green sclera, the intensity of the green varies depending on their emotions.

One of my biggest headcanons for this is that Pearl knows when Marina is remembering bad memories thanks to that. Since she was part of the military her body is used to have the sclera green(Does that makes sense? I just wanted to have a reason as to why the "lower" octarians have it green but the octolings don't, I like it green thank you).

Some octarians know how to speak salmonid, mostly the ones that are charged with the work of trading with them( My take on Octoling New Agent 3 and my HC for Marina for example)

Callie knows octarian, and she speaks very well. The first time Marie heard her she was afraid that Callie used the brainwashing shades again, she was just talking with some lower octarians to not enter their base.

Gramps Cuttlefish taught the cousins how to read octarian just in case, but since they never use it they became rusty at it. Marie has now retaken her studies on that, and Callie is her new teacher.

Callie tried to cover the Squid Sister's song to octarian during her time in Octo Valley, she wanted to give live concerts to them to make them happy, but it didn't work very well since she didn't know how to rhyme in the language. (Also because she didn't feel right singing them without Marie)

The only song she covered completely was Bomb Rush Blush, DJ Octavio helped her with that, Callie learned with that that Octavio can't sing, she now teases him with that.

The relationship of DJ Octavio and Cap'n Craig Cuttlefish (Part 1)

This is something not as many people know the details of. Most people who played Splatoon 1 know the Octavio and Craig have some sort of history, but not as many people know the details of it. Today is the day I put everything we have from the games and put them out on the table for people to see.

Firstly we have Sunken Scroll 16. Those of you who read my posts about the Great Turf War are familiar with this one, but I'll type it out again for those who are new.

"Before the Great Turf War, there were amicable relations between the Inklings and the Octarians. They couldn't have dreamed that rising sea levels would force them to battle fiercely over the remaining territory." Accompanied by this photo.

The photo shows an Inkling, seemingly some sort of high ranking military officer of sorts based on the uniform and medals, and an Octoling, likely of some higher status based on the ornate headdress, having a pleasant conversation. Based on Sunken Scroll 15, which I'll get into in just a bit, we know the Inkling on the right is Craig Cuttlefish, leaving us with the question of who the Octoling on the left is. As most of you likely already assumed, it appears to be the human form of DJ Octavio.

You can tell based on the headdress, similar tentacle shape, and Wasabi stalks (which you can see in the lap of the human form Octoling if you look closely on the scroll).

So Sunken Scroll 16 shows Craig and Octavio being friendly towards each other before the war.

Next we have Sunken Scroll 15

"This is the only existing photograph of the legendary Squidbeak Splatoon. The young man folding his arms appears to be the leader. When this picture was taken, the Great Turf War had been raging on for over a year."

This, along with a piece a dialog from Cuttlefish in Octo Valley, stating "Back in the day, I was the best battler Inkopolis had ever seen!", and a later chat log from Marina show that the inkling in Suken Scroll 16 is in fact Cuttlefish himself. This also tells us that Cap'n Cuttlefish was one of many on the front lines during the Great Turf Wars.

As you can clearly see here, Pearl flat out states that the "young man" in the photo is none other than Cap'n Craig Cuttlefish himself, fighting the same Octarian as before, who we established to be DJ Octavio, during the Great Turf War.
