i've been playing CK2 AGOT again and i don't remember if i talked about it here before but I adapted my fic canon into a mod so I can play the Dance era with my ocs in it :) mainly it's just maggie and house farring since the others would be more tricky to add

anyway this time i started in 128 AC in one of my what-if scenarios in which aemond left king's landing to live in the reach with maggie. i was controlling him so in order to make it possible I had viserys give him a random castle in the reach-crownlands border

as usual the RNG went crazy and soon enough rhaenyra was declaring war on her own father (?) idk i wasn't paying attention but half of her kids died, aegon died, daemon lost caraxes but in the end she took the throne and the funniest thing happened:

she gave dragonstone to maggie and completely passed over aemond on the succession 😭

i switched to play as maggie at that point. unfortunately someone murdered rhaenyra a couple years later, joffrey took over but no one wanted him as king so rebellion broke out. the rebels managed to depose him and called a great council

the lords of westeros really got over ten thousand years worth of misogyny in a week and elected a pregnant woman because the alternatives were:

Last thing you wrote down in your notes app? I don't use an app for notes often but it was literally just 'my heart a fortress, overrun' which was the title for my most recent fic. Was looking for a better title than what I had previously and that, of course, occurred to me right after I shut my PC off and headed to bed, so I dumped it in the notes app on my phone. As for Scrivener, where my notes usually go, my most recent note/snippet is an unrefined line for a fic that won't be coming for a while b/c I have so much else to write first: “Of all of them, my dear Mydeimos, you will shine as the clearest memory in the new world.”

An unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character. I don't actually know if she's popular or not but I think she is: I'm torn on Citlali because, while I understand they mean to write her and Ororon's relationship as comic relief, it comes off uncomfortably close to actual abuse to me and makes me :/ about her despite liking her design. She definitely doesn't intend it as abuse, but as someone that went through an emotionally abusive childhood myself (also perpetrated mostly by an alcoholic), it's easy for me to interpret Ororon's appeasement behavior, frequent worries that Citlali is coming to check up on him/will ruin his plans, and possibly even the easy willingness to defect to the Fatui as signs that his relationship with Citlali has resulted in some mental trauma. I don't hate her! But it makes it hard to love her. Because it's very possible to traumatize or abuse someone without intending to, especially if you have your own undealt-with issues like her shame, self-imposed mostly-isolation, and alcoholism. I think it would be possible for them to work through their issues especially after the Archon quest, but Genshin is never going to give that to us; they will continue to use the dynamic for comedic effect, and I'll just have to keep making faces at it when they do.

Name three good things about a character you hate. I don't really hate a lot of characters - I don't think there's a single Genshin character I can say I hate, and for HSR I can think of maybe two playables/prominent NPCs thus far that I could say I actively dislike, so I'll pick one of them - Sparkle. Not going into why I dislike her here since that's not the point of this question. First off, she's gorgeous. I love her design, and was initially hoping to get her based on that and her kit before I met her and changed my mind. Second, her kit: I know it's common to talk about how she's fallen off nowadays, but man, I WOULD love to have her for my DHIL, nobody skill points like she skill points. And third: she's basically the goose from untitled goose game. It's extremely hilarious in a fucked up way that she just strutted around in the Dreamscape causing problems on purpose. And I'm legally obligated to support women's rights and women's wrongs, but especially when they're funny.

So 2.1, just like the previous patch SO much happened, and To no one's surprise, It blew everything we saw in 2.0 out of the water! And since i did something similar during 2.1, I'd thought it make sense to do the same for the next part. So without further ado!

Spoilers under the Cut!!!!

Of course the start of 2.1's story has to end right where we left off, in the room where we found Robin's dead body O_O. But i like the direction they go, where after we split off form Aventurine and meet with the Express, we get to see multiple POV's, kinda like how they did with Dan Heng on the Luofu but more complex. And man did it work wonders!

While I know there were people meming and a bit disappointed Duke Inferno never got to appear in game, I did like that Acheron at least remembers his last stand. Man stood by his principles and went out fighting (even if he' prob won't be playable)

I also like how they handled Acheron & Welt together. Like I said before never got to play Honkai Impact 3rd, but I did get to read a lot of the supplementary material like Second Impact, so it was nice to see that side of Welt from there. And that's while Acheron isn't his Mei it's nice they shared a kinship

I got nothing to add to this the sand pit was hilarious as hell! The NPC walking into walls and clipping into floors made me lose it. The devs had way too much fun in that area lmao.

This next parts more on the serious side, so I'll give a little heads up that rest of the post is prob about to touch on really dark topics like Enslavement, genocide, su1c1de, and not so nice things like that so be warned.

So,

Aventurine / Kakavasha's backstory....

there's so much I could say but they really did a excellent job fleshing out his character. From how he was "lucky" from birth but everyone he ever loved wasn't so lucky, how his reckless gambling with his life was there even as a kid, him feeling he's never been truly free only going from one master to another, mans got trauma and it's no wonder he thinks everything comes at a cost.

I haven't seen a lot of post about the part where Kakasvasha says his last goodbyes to his sister, right before the Narration explains that the small rebellion ended in the Avgin clan's extinction (it's vague if the Katacins survived, but considering how the story paints them, not many people are gonna miss them). over 6,000 deaths and over ,000 casualties, all on a planet that was barely survivable. And while his sister sends him off after one final prayer to Gaithra Triclops, it left him alone with no one, and we know how he ended up afterwards.

Not to mention the fact even when Aventurine killed his old master by STRANGLING HIM WITH CHAINS, he would've been arrested by the IPC had Jade not taken an interest in his bet. Man has been through it. No wonder he recklessly bets his life in gambles, it was either that or he dies.

Speaking of reckless gambling, the entire sequence after Sunday does his Harmony suggestion we get that oh so nice interactions with the young Aventurine and his shadow the true self other Aventurine that rags on him the rest of the way. The shadow Aventurine lays it in him that underneath that bravado is a man whose so scared to lose more and yet doesn't care if his own life gets taken in the process since all he has is that. Not even with all the money in the universe. Dr Ratio's "betrayal" was supposedly an act, but he still thinks on some level the doctor hates him and it was real, he has no one to confined in or anything.

But with the younger self it's different. The way his young self still has light in his eyes, how in the hallucination he's at the theme park with his family, who are dead. First he denies that there are any Avgins since they were all dead right? But then he shows a kinder side he would never show to anyone, much less himself. And it accumulates in the scene where he decides to live on a bit longer and says a final prayer to his past, to Kakavasha. I was choking up all through that final part.

I know the patch mostly focused on Aventurine, but even what we learned of Acheron is also sad. She's not really a Galaxy Ranger, because her status as an Emanator of Nihillty, a "Self-Annihilator," is tragic enough, means she'll forget precious memories, senses, untill there's nothing. So it's sticks out to me that Acheron is the one to give Aventurine the nudge to live on, she she also has lost so much but chooses to walk on in life. Plus Dr. Ratio's note to Aventurine was very Ratio, no-nonsense but also wants him to live on despite their differences. The Aventio fans are eating it up but it's still a nice gesture from Ratio.

Speaking of Sunday, I said I wanted him to get his revenge as a treat but I wasn't counting on him almost killing Aventurine with whatever Harmony power he put on him. Sure the man lost his sister to an unknown murderer, and the light cone memory of them of a simpler time is sad. There's still a few unanswered question about him and Robin's relationship, like if Robin's fondest memories of are the pretend concert between her and Sunday, why is ti as adults she only just got back to Penacony, and why the Harmony isn't in sync anymore that caused her voice to lose it's tune. Also Sundays controlling attitude and his raven bird watching in every scene he's in makes me think the once closed siblings may not be as close anymore

Also with the reveal of what "Gallagher's" role in the story is, the drink he made for my Trailblazer fits a bit TOO well. I don't completely believe he's working alone, but his association with the Something Unto Death meme has me excited for his role next patch. Let my chill bartender man be a bit shady as a treat. Truly the "most normal human in the game of werewolf" (Thanks Shaoji)

Also to no one's surprise, Sam & Firefly are one in the same. While I am interested on how the last Stellaron Hunter is gonna be like and what their deal is, it's a shame most people like em were spoiled by the twist since it makes Firefly and Sam SO much more interesting.

But overall 2.1 has been AMAZING in terms of characterization and with 2.2 being set to be the "climax" of Penacony's Story I can't wait to see what they do with the plot threads they have been cooking up.

Been a while since I've posted. I've decided I hate Facebook again and for now I'm letting off steam here.

I said before that I'd deleted my long rant and just stuck to a mini-rant. Well, today I'm posting a long rant. Fair warning: This is a rant.

As far as I can tell, there's no good news about the Borderlands movie. They've changed Commander Knoxx's character to be Atlas's daughter instead of General Knoxx, so I guess she'll be Commander Atlas now. That... doesn't matter. Of all the issues I have with this movie, whose daughter she is is probably the least important. Actually, it's not an issue. Her EXISTENCE is an issue, but not which NPC is her parent. Atlas isn't even an NPC, it's just a gun manufacturer, presumably named after its founder. We never see the founder(s) nor, as far as I can remember, hear any backstory. I'm not sure which problem they were trying to solve by the rename.

First problem: We do have to rescue Lilith, Athena, and one other who I won't mention due to spoilers. I can only think of those three. Lilith tells you to kill her if you can't save her... "Better dead than a damsel." Athena engineers her own rescue; you're just the muscle. So there's kind of a dearth of damsels in this franchise. The movie's premise is that Commander uh... Atlas?... needs to be rescued. So, right. Damsel in distress. Kind of immediately contradicts the lore of Borderlands, who has strong women who generally don't need rescuing.

Second is: why General Knoxx's er, I mean, Atlas's daughter? She's a new character. It's like BORDERLANDS ISN'T CHARACTER-RICH ENOUGH, we have to add more just to get the plot started.

Edit: She still shows credited as Commander Knoxx in my web search, including on IMDB. I saw Atlas in the last article I saw on the movie. It's possible it was simply mistaken. I note parenthetically that Knoxx works for Atlas Corporation, and the DLC he's in is Atlas-heavy. Could just be a mistake. Edit to the edit: The Wikipedia article premise mentions her as Atlas's daughter. But she's named Knoxx. I'm fucking confused; which is she?

Next: They have Kevin Hart playing Roland. Kevin Hart is a comedian. Roland is a serious, somber, straightforward guy who never jokes and never laughs, or even smiles. Any humor that happens in relation to him works because it plays off his sober sincerity.

Roland: Oh good, you're not dead. Lilith: That's his way of saying "Hi". Roland: Sorry. Hi.

Why do they need a stand-up comedian to play Roland? Either Hart is trying to branch out and do some serious acting, or... they're making a comedy.

OK, Cate Blanchett is doing Lilith. I don't know if she's the best choice, but I don't know who else I'd recommend. I guess I'm OK with that.

As for Tannis... I love Jamie Lee Curtis, but she's a scream queen that also does comedies. Tannis isn't FUNNY, she's TRAGIC. Again, there's humor, but it plays off her personality, which is informed by her severe social awkwardness. (She's pretty much coded autistic. I don't know if it's canon.) No doubt the trauma she's suffered has exacerbated any existing personality deficits. Or caused new ones. Can Curtis do a sober Tannis? I mean, play her seriously, not deadpan. I don't know. Again, I don't think she's meant to -- this movie is looking more like a comedy every day. Could be worse, but I'm not sure I'd pick her.

Next, we have Claptrap, who is introduced as "The wise-cracking robot" and played by... Jack Black, a comedic voice actor. Thing is, Claptrap does not crack wise. He's hilarious, but that's because, similarly to Roland and Tannis, the game plays off his naive sincerity. He's funny because he's so serious, but clueless. I haven't memorized every line in the entire franchise enough to instantly recall everything that every claptrap robot has said, but as far as I can remember, Claptrap has told MAYBE three jokes on purpose. One is self-referential, spoken by a claptrap who is supposed to be programming the game: "Borderlands? More like Memelands, am I right?" One is spoken right after a hatch is automatically locked, trapping you in the first map: "I hear that getting eaten by bullymongs isn't such a bad way to go." Was that one a deliberate joke? Don't know, so that's my "maybe." And the third is from a side mission called The Iceman Cometh. It's a moderately silly pun that any 10-year-old would be proud of. When you (as a character) don't react, he then EXPLAINS THE JOKE. When you still don't react, he LECTURES YOU on the nature of humor. TWICE. Naive sincerity, not cracking wise. So again, this suggests the movie being a comedy.

So, we have two of the four vault hunters from the first game, Lilith and Roland. The roles of Mordecai and Brick are interesting, in that THEY AREN'T THERE. Why?

Tiny Tina is. She's a psychotic young teen with a penchant for explosives. She's got a connection to Brick, who -- for some reason -- isn't in the movie. She's not the kind of person who needs a bodyguard -- she's the kind of person against whom YOU need a bodyguard. I only bring this up because... ... Krieg is her bodyguard in the movie. Why? I already mentioned her connection to Brick. Krieg doesn't have a connection to Tina, he has a connection to Maya. I don't know when this movie is supposed to take place in the Borderlands timeline, but if Lilith is retired, it'll be between the first and second. Possibly around the time of the Pre-Sequel. We don't see Krieg until BL2, where he's added as the last playable character after the original four plus Gaige. So the timeline doesn't make sense and Krieg's connection to Tina doesn't make sense and Krieg being Tina's bodyguard doesn't make sense. I don't know anything about the actors, I may look them up and try to watch some of their stuff.

Tina doesn't show in the game until BL2, but there's no reason to think she hasn't been around since Borderlands, we just haven't seen her. (But only after the events of BL:PS, since it's Jack's slag experiments on Tina's parents that kill them and drive her into being a vengeful little psychopath.) But Krieg doesn't show up until he becomes a vault hunter? OTOH until then he was living as a psycho... probably on Pandora. So I suppose the timeline might be OK, technically. I'll give them that one. But I still object to the Tina/Krieg connection.

Gina Gershon as Mad Moxxi: Gina is an attractive woman, doesn't have Moxxi's curves, and she's 61. She's pretty hot-looking but I'm not sure she really fits the character, physically. Can she do Moxxi's va-va-voom? Don't know.

Charles Babalola: I don't know him. I try not to get upset at race lifts; I'm used to Sir Hammerlock being the "great white hunter" stereotype, but I suppose it doesn't hurt anything if he's black. At least he's British. This is a weak protestation at most. EDIT: Several people have pointed out that he's canonically black, which I never noticed. Well, OK then, that one's on me.

Bobby Lee plays Larry. He's another stand-up comedian. There sure are a lot of those for a serious film, eh? Also, who the fuck is Larry?

Ryann Redmond as Ellie: nobody's going to match Ellie's unrealistic proportions, but Ryann seems like a reasonable choice physically; basically, you just need a plus-sized woman who can act. I don't know anything about her acting but I presume she's competent, at least. Ellie is a smartass, so wise-cracking from her is welcome. So how come they cast a stand-up comedian as Roland but a serious actress as Ellie? The cognitive dissonance is making my brain cramp.

And Eli Roth has left the project and declared that he does not want credit for his writing. THAT bodes well.

This is supposed to be canon. Canon my ass. This is a TRAVESTY. EDIT: Somebody said it's not supposed to be canon. I read that it is. I'll try to dig up the reference when I get a minute. EDIT 2: Sorry it took me so long, I was busy procrastinating. Now, in my memory, when the first announced the movie they claimed it would be "true to Borderlands", but of course that's changed. I must have skimmed over the more recent "canon" phrasing, sorry. Apparently it's changed to "canon for the Borderlands Cinematic Universe", which is not the same as canon to the games. To me that's seems a bit disingenuous, considering that as far as I can tell, the Borderlands Cinematic Universe consists of one unfinished movie. (And calling it a "Borderlands Cinematic Universe" also seems a bit conceited since their first -- and so far only -- entry has been in Production Hell for 9 years and hasn't even finished.) So my apologies for getting the "canon" claims wrong, but I'm still unhappy and I think they're making excuses. They've taken an Action Movie script, grabbed some names from the Borderlands franchise, and pretended that the result is a Borderlands movie. They did that with Sly Stallone and the first Judge Dredd movie, remember? (Maybe you don't, but I was a fan of the comics. Fortunately the second movie was much, much better.) This makes me think of Stallone's Judge Dredd. (Also the anime version of the Lensman, but that one's pretty obscure.)

Anyway, I have more, but I think I've said what I need to. I may watch the movie out of morbid curiosity. I'm not going to dislike it out of spite, I'm not that hateful. I'll try to give it a chance. I just don't like the odds.

So what's your take on asshole characters? Between Daisy Falls Apart, Carry On, and some of the characters in Las Lindas and Peter & Company respectively, it just bugs me on how some people write them but forget the part where they're supposed to be funny instead of insufferable. The best reference I can think of for when it works is It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and that's mainly because the characters in that practically always get their comeuppance in each episode.

Yeah, I say over and over again. A good asshole character is someone who always gets punished for their behavior in some form or fashion, or their assholiness is so over-the-top exaggerated, it stops existing in a plausible world entirely.

Your example of IASiP is pretty good. There's also Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm. Seinfeld is an example of the latter, although the cast also faces their comeuppance at the last episode of the series.

Another example I can think of of an entertaining asshole character is Archibald from an obscure adventure game Runaway 2: Dream of the Turtle. He is a gigantic asshole, but he is entertaining because he isn't the protagonist of the game but rather an NPC you meet in one section of the game, his insults are brutal and I like that we virtually know nothing about him. He's just this estranged guy in the middle of Alaska who hates everyone and everything.

Archibald is an example of an asshole character who never grows out of being an asshole or faces comeuppance for being an asshole, the reason he works is because he is a relatively minor character to the game's story, he is pretty much treated as an asshole in the game's narrative as well. And the whole point of adventure games is to talk with random characters and try to muster as much information out of them as possible. With Archibald it almost becomes a challenge because no matter what you say he's going to roast you. He's also surprisingly realistic for an asshole, like I've seen a lot of Archibald-types on Twitter.

If you want to make a sympathetic asshole protagonist, then look no further than Woody from the first Toy Story. Nowadays zoomers think Woody in that movie is TOO MEAN, when in the original draft he was Kathy-levels of unlikable. In the actual movie, he still isn't perfect, but he is shown to have a sympathetic side and he does have an understandable motivation of being afraid of being overshadowed by Buzz. But Woody does learn to be a better person at the end of the movie, but the few times he does act like a prick he is genuinely hilarious thanks to Tom Hanks's performance. And he doesn't throw Buzz out of the window on purpose like in the original draft, people just think he does, which could be considered a comeuppance moment for how he acted earlier in the film. I don't think Woody is TOO MEAN, he is not a bully, just someone who is insecure about the possibility of being overshadowed.

Webcomic protagonists never face comeuppance. And when they do, it's written in the most forced way possible to "appeal to haters", but is trivial in the grand scheme of things. I think a webcomic with a likable asshole protagonist is only possible if everyone else is far worse than they are.

Hmmm I'm still not totally clear as to what a comfort character is vs. like a favorite character, but I must have some idea because I'm inclined to pick Hamid for this one. Idfk he's just a little guy, he's been here the whole time, growing and changing, he's problematic but trying his very best, and he's too cute. He screams comfort.

While I'm at it with the over-answering, Oscar Wilde. I like that even when he's being a pain in the ass on purpose he's quite clearly just a good guy if you read even slightly between the lines. Trusted him with my life ever since the anti-bertie article, and he only got better and better. I want him to have nice things forever and let's face it he got the nicest thing (Zolf) so I'm tearing up right now just thinking about it.

I think answering this question actually kind of helped me figure out what the difference between a favorite and a comfort character is, and why I didn't feel right picking Zolf here. Zolf stresses me out but it's fun.

Going to go with Apophis. I don't absolutely despise him but I'm not a fan and he gets so much lore, screen time, and badass moments, which is fine, I won't say they're not cool but I might be shouting "booo" while it's happening at the same time.

This is a character flaw of mine but I constantly forget about Ed. Even though I adore Ed there were multiple times when people mentioned an Ed or Edward and I was like who the fuck are we talking about for a second before I was like RIGHT THE HIMBO PALADIN AGAIN.

🐰Favorite non-human character

Considering most of them are non-human I'm going to cheat and instead pick my favorite human character which is Sasha. I still miss her since rome, love how she was acrobatics-sexual, love her relationship with gargoyles and general awkwardness. She changed so much over time but was great from start to finish, and I can't stress how happy I am that she got to live a full and at least somewhat peaceful life.

Sumutnyerl's abrupt death so far from home in such miserable circumstances and the way the timing made it impossible for anyone around to have time to mourn mildly devastated me (thank you Skraak). Not to mention the way Tesla took advantage of their relationship and the guilt she must've felt and how that didn't get explored beyond one night she was miserable and resetless and the next day she was dead. Super brutal when life and death for the NPC's is controlled by cold chaotic dice rolls (and whether or not a player character is in love with you 😉).

Review 3.5 in series for Dragon Age Veilguard

Something came to my attention. I need to make it crystal clear that I utterly love the diversity in DAV. It's fantastic. I'm also a heavily left leaning, non-binary, queer as fuck reviewer, editor, and author.

I'm on media blackout while I play this, so I'm only getting second-hand info on how awful it is right now in the DA Fandom. Please be safe and take care of yourselves. Arguing with incels and white supremacists is completely pointless. They sea lion worse than an actual sea lion. Your mental health is important.

Y'know? Every single time the anti-queer brigade comes out for a new DA game, I sit there thinking 'have you Bozos ever played any DA game, like, ever?' My guess is nope.

Okay. Got several more hours into the game last night. I'm finally getting story bits!

It really shouldn't take 16 hours to get that far.

I utterly love Treviso. And to my surprise, most of the NPCs are brown. So they didn't fuck that up.

I've so far met Lace (hate her), Neve (withholding judgment), Bellara (withholding judgment) and Lucanis (hilarious that I actually like him in game). Though what's with the count Dracula look? Dude looks like he needs to find his coffin. That's an... interesting design choice. Gotta admit I loved the coffee meeting. I may end up eating crow. (I said in a group that if I ended up romancing Lucanis in game, I'd happily eat crow, because I utterly loathed his intro story, The Wigmaker, in Tevinter Nights.) I still have to meet the rest of the companions. And yes, it's a double entendre.

Again, the sets, backgrounds, and environments are fantastic and the best part of the game so far. It's an interesting twist to me that they chose a negative coded demon for Lucanis. I was thinking it'd be Valor.

And I feel seen in a caring manner on the trans options. I do wish the CC would've given me the same freedom of design on that front as BG3 did. It doesn't. Larian was far, far more brave and accommodating on that front. But I could make a representative character for me, so that's important and good enough.

Larian also had the courage to allow polyamory too. Sooooo. My opinion of not being able to be polyam like me in DAV is pretty damned low. Only 30% of the dating population is monogamous. Get with the times, Bioware.

Arlathan turned out to be more beautiful than I originally expected. Not a city person so Minrathous doesn't do much for me.

I had some pretty negative feelings about the game reveals, but that post is here if you want. Fair warning, I didn't censor myself much and it's both acidic and negative.

And I don't like the non-open world thing. In fact, I hate it. I much preferred DAI on that aspect. I feel like the Devs are herding my rather contrary ass through the game and I just really don't like it. You often can't go back (say for potions you didn't need before but could use?) It’s really just unpleasant. I don't like being led around by the nose for the story the devs want to tell. I want to be able to explore. When I want to.

And I want both my third companion and my ability to play the other companions back, damnit. I really hate that too.

I've got a busy day, so I'm not sure if my weak ass will be able to play tonight. Though after 18 hours I'm feeling a very, very slight desire to play? Again, it shouldn't take an 18 hour commitment to want to log in to a game.

Oh, and I'm playing a rogue. 16 hours in and I've yet had the opportunity to pick a damned lock or defuse a trap or any of the fun rogue bits I play rogues for. Did they really decide to get rid of an entire section of the stuff that makes rogues fun to play? That basically turns my rogue into a weak ass elf good with a bow and dual weild. They could be any Joe Blow with that. They removed everything that made rogues special? Really? Really really? Fucking hell, man.

I'm recovering from a Pulmonary Embolism (really do not recommend) so my energy levels have very finite limits.

Mizora (shes quiet about it but she cant deny pussy that good), Halsin (He seems safe), Minthara (dangeroue and hot), Aylin (finds her peculiar dramatics hilarious. also really hot), Lucretious (birds of a feather), Haarlep (game recognises game), Alfira (she loooooves artists and bards. especially if theyre cute), Popper (she loves all nasty little guys and she especially loves Popper, she'd want to convince him to join her and leave the circus so bad. but she respects lucretious too much). Orin (doesnt really LIKE her, but definitely curious about the sex. does not pursue that curiosity though.)

Dislike:

Gortash (ugly nerd, fucked with Karlach), Most Baldurian nobles/officials (boring and she dislikes beaurocracy and rich ppl), Raphael (The kind of predatory devil she really dislikes), Zevlor (Unexplainable. Sympathetic but ultimately finds him kinda pathetic), The Emperor (She doesnt like people in her head. Doesnt buy his act), Ravengard (she HATES how he treated wyll)

OH IT WOULD BE CHAOTIC BUT AT THE SAME TIME SO FUN AND HILARIOUS

So the thing is- Cala could go horrible Dungeon Master mode and win the game quickly by making them be level 1 and letting them fight tarrasques. That would be easy right? But no- Cala is very fair in what she wants to do. She could rig it up SO EASILY, but she knows if she does then it would give Quackity all the more reason to do it on his end as well as Sam. So she would make it fair and very balanced.

She would definitely help with making their characters. Like genuinely help them sort it out and make sure they’re not cheating on their end as well. It would lead to her having to redo Sam’s sheet because he would make his character overpowered.

Quackity and Sam i feel would make characters that are very similar to them but not actually them- and Cala would allow that uwu

Sam would definitely be a Paladin and Quackity would be a Rogue. :3

Quackity would attempt to cheat though first session in by bringing a loaded set of dnd dice- very custom made and beautiful with the 1 being a duck and a 20 being :]

However Cala would remedy that problem quickly by saying that they have to use dice that is in the dice bucket she has. And it’s just how it sounds- a bucket full of dice.

Quackity would try to convince her and she would immediately just, “oh if you want these dice to be put Into play then i Can use them then!! :3”

That makes him use the bucket.

First session is a classic dnd quest: helping a town with their giant rat problem. It’s something simple of Cala would make them think outside the box. As well as that Cala would sprinkle some in game lore here and there, but not too much.

Cala gets very serious when she DMs. She isn’t a scary dm but she really gets into the role of telling her story. She usually would be very spacey or fidgety but it all goes away when she’s in the middle of explaining the story.

Quackity would think it’s just a one time session- all they have to do is beat this quest and that’s it— but that’s when Cala would pull in a cliffhanger of a bigger problem right at the end of the session and she just smiles and goes: “Well- that’s the first session! So same time next week?”

Quackity would immediately be surprised and ask what she means and she explains that this isn’t a one time thing- just because they passed one quest doesn’t mean they won the whole game. So until they beat basically the main storyline she made then no one has won yet.

Sam immediately would understand what she meant, and she’s right- the terms were if either of them won the game and them beating the first quest only helped a small bit with their goal. They still have a long way to go!

So they would play dnd weekly- or biweekly since Cala is busy. And Cala also made Quackity agree to the terms that neither Sam or him can torture Dream in between sessions. I feel like that would be in exchange for Cala making the session balanced. This also means Cala would drag it out as long as possible. Because she knows what she’s doing.

Obviously it would get harder the more she plays with them- she would make it more difficult; make puzzles, riddles, any solution that would be different to the actual one. And also some of the quests as well as the npcs are a bit… familiar to Sam and Quackity.

Like an alcoholic satyr who is the leader of a country that’s on the midst of a revolution.

Or a triton who loves to build and is the demigod of the sea and lightning.

Not all of them are like that, but she defintiely sprinkled some familiarity with them. They would either love it or hate it.

And if you think Cala would ignore the backstories the two made for their characters, even if they were poorly made, you have another thing coming because she would adapt those stories and manage to put them into the session seamlessly.

Cala loves to tell stories no matter what, and she does her best even in this situation where her and Dream’s lives are on the line.

I feel like Sam and Quackity would have a guilty pleasure of doing this- like they enjoy it but they’re salty that they are. Quackity would try and rig the game up and Sam would try and intimidate Cala but she usually doesn’t take their shit.

It would genuinely be a 50/50 on if Cala would win or Quackity at the end too- but she would make it fun and make it last as long as possible.

i feel like the merchant is always just like this- not real person that's written in for game mechanics lol. it's hard to realistically imagine it being real even though i know it's "real." it's not the same like nurse joy and officer jenny in pokemon where it like SURE MAKES SENSE but like the merchant following leon and ada around on the island is fucking hilarious to me.

i do think that luis had a bit of an impact on her, but she was also using him- so it would make sense if it was minimal in how she felt in his death. one of the minor changes i see people complaining about ada is her frailty, it is a change that i've seen talked about more and more in re4r and it furthers my theory that her apathy and less "overpowered" nature is a way to humanize her. which i don't particularly like in some aspects.

i've always liked ada to be emotionally resilient and to see her be more emotional regarding leon (which is actually a positive to show that her affection for him is more reciprocal), is a bit jarring and actually makes it seem like they're trying way too hard to get the audience to sympathize with her (which is a good thing, but it seems similar in the way that men write women = women bad, women weak, women sad.) you can show ada having mixed affections for leon without reducing her to a lovesick girl, which she isn't.

i wouldn't say i hate luis lol sjkfbsjk i really enjoyed the changes that they made initially upon first experiencing re4r. but the more time that i spent analysing the writing, the more i felt as though his writing were all plot devices and as a means to move the story along. (this isn't bad at all!) tbh, it makes sense, luis is a secondary character, a NPC and isn't meant to showcase all of his emotions and reasonings and motivations- but that's also a detriment (for me) because i don't find his motivations convincing or aligning well with his writing.

i do stand by my original thoughts that all the additions of luis' character writing was at the detriment to ada's writing. several scenes that had ada suddenly didn't. and the balancing wasn't enough tbh for how ashley and luis were both fleshed out. we got a modicum of additional inner thoughts with her monologue, but they aren't necessary new thoughts. these were assumed thoughts that we always had and weren't groundbreaking or enhanced her backstory (THAT MUCH) in comparison to how much was added for ashley and luis additionally, i think that ada might have been a bit more sympathetic towards ashley than in og re4 , which i guess is nice

i think that every character can have faults and can be poorly written- that doesn't mean that you can't like them!!

i love tons of poorly written characters, or even characters that are barely written. i love annoying characters, stupid characters, it all depends on how they're written!

ok tng update time. this one is four episodes because i let it get away from me. i at some point watched "manhunt," then we caught "the emissary" and "peak condition" together, and finally i sped my way through "shades of gray" earlier today

manhunt: not even majel barrett could save this one. not only did deanna not take a stand against her mother like she did in the last lwaxana troi ep, she went back to acting as though she never had at all. so much for my favorite deanna moment ever. i'm sorry women

riker carrying the suitcase WAS funny. i love how down he is to do literally anything. he is rapidly becoming one of my favorites he's finally coming into his own

husband hunting bc of menopause bad. holodeck WORSE. combine them and i am in agony

the jokes about how ugly those stasis aliens were were also kind of unfunny. the twist about them being assassins and lwaxana knowing all along because she's psychic WOULD have been funny if 1. they hadn't established her telepathy was off and 2. she hadn't been so annoying this episode

i hate when she scolds people for "having naughty thoughts" when it was established last episode that she's making that shit up or at the very least sharply exaggerating it to embarrass them and then it WORKS TO EMBARRASS THEM. shouldn't everyone in the room by now know that she's just inflating her own ego...

anyway it was unwatchably bad.

the emissary: this one was ALMOST good. they got really close. i really liked the half-klingon woman when she was hanging out with deanna...they had genuine chemistry and they should have kissed about it. unfortunately all her scenes with worf were INSUFFERABLE

like, this woman DESPISES klingons. she doesn't say one thing about them that isn't completely derogatory the entire episode. she hates her own klingon half, she hates other klingons, why on EARTH was she 1. put in charge of this mission 2. made to work with WORF even after he asked picard to pick someone else?

like, worf literally spent the entire episode trying to do his job, and she kept bringing up their past drama so she could provoke him into fucking her

and then when he tries to """do the right thing""" by marrying her (WHICH MAKES NO SENSE WHEN COMPARED WITH PREVIOUS LORE...BUT WHATEVER...) she's like haha no silly that's what those silly backward awful KLINGONS do, but EYE am a way more evolved human

and then we don't examine that at all ever.

like, she could have been a fascinating character when foiled with worf - both of them are klingons who operate in a world of humans and feel isolated and othered as a result, but she HATES her klingon half and worf wants to connect more closely with his own klingon heritage. they could have been good for each other but instead she was super annoying and then just left.

i DID like the scene at the end though where worf got dressed in full klingon captain regalia and bluffed his way into captaincy of a klingon warship. GOOD for him. that was fun and sexy of him and for once i didn't mind them using the woman as eye candy.

THAT SAID IF SHE HATES KLINGONS SO MUCH WHY IS SHE THE ONE ABOARD THAT SHIP. IT MAKES NO SENSE. anyway it missed the fucking mark. i loved the poker game though

peak condition: i loved this one. it was so funny and full of shenanigans and hijinks. this is actually the most i have ever liked wesley, who used his dumb annoying kid persona as a cover to CHEAT a metaphorical kobayashi maru. i genuinely unironically thought it was great. eveyrbody was rolling their eyes at him bc he had to go back for his experiment and then meanwhile he's loading antimatter onto the hathaway with a PERFECT fucking poker face behind their backs

i loved the little npc this episode, he was such a ham. he truly was doing the most he was so funny

best plot twist ever is when worf fakes the first enemy ship and then the second enemy ship is the real one. the comedic timing of that was HILARIOUS and riker finding a way to make it work even when that strategy guy said it was impossible bc he had too much charisma was great

my one sour note was pulaski setting data up to do that video game match. she realized her mistake and apologized but i still wanted to kill her. i would have hated it less had data volunteered on his own, because i DID like his little arc about learning sometimes he will make mistakes even if his solution to beating the guy in the end felt like a little bit of a copout. anyway, stellar episode despite that little hiccup, i wish tng was that fun all the time

shades of gray: actually much less horrific than i expected given its clip show nature. some of the clips were ones i liked and the ones i fucking hated i felt no shame in speeding up or even skipping through entirely (i can't believe they wanted us to watch tasha yar die again LMAOOO and that fake girl on the holodeck like come ON).

that said, the part before the clipshow was very VERY charming. riker living it up while everyone else is having kittens about his impending doom, his determination to keep both his dignity and sense of humor while facing death...unironically some of the best riker content hiding in that episode. i feel like i got to watch 12 minutes of cool riker stuff and then a few cool clips.

i guess that was pulaski's last appearance? rip girl, you tried and again women i am so sorry.

anyway, that's it for season 2. we literally fucking made it. tomorrow night we're starting season 3 and doing every episode together until we hit three duds in a row lol.

I'm assuming you've played some ttrpgs based on your posts so what are some of the characters you've played?

It is true, I have played a lot of TTRPGs, however most often I was the forever DM, so a lot of times the characters I was playing were NPCs or villains.

Here's a set of some villains from from one of my first campaigns. They are a species called "Nocturns" and are based on bats. These ones have all had their wings amputated which sure as heck made it easier to draw them. I don't post a lot of these guys because, again, they're part of unpublished works that will get a big art drop if I ever manage to find a publishing solution.

In order from top to bottom:

Commander Symeraks is a flamboyant diva who writes and directs plays when he's not busy leading armies. He's incredibly skilled and incredibly dangerous, but easily distracted. Commander Glyph is cunning, ruthless, pragmatic, and not actually that skilled. He's a mediocre commander, but he attaches himself to Symeraks and keeps him out of trouble as his handler. He hopes that he can ride Symeraks' coat tails into a higer ranking position. Don't ship them, Symeraks is gay for someone else and Glyph would rather die than kiss anyone. Lomedia is a burning spirit of chaos who everyone hates, including herself. She's been demoted a million times but always finds some way to cling on and make everyone's lives a little bit worse. She's constantly betraying, backstabbing, and lying and yet somehow the rest of them always give her another chance.

Those are some memorable villains from one of my campaigns, but here are some more memorable characters I've played, in order of most favorite to least favorite.

Bradly Arbor is a 19 year old who's just out of highschool. He was captain of the football team, but also got all the lead roles in the play by virtue of being one of the few guys who enrolled in the school plays (he was not a good actor). He did that all to get closer to a girl who he was infatuated with... unfortunately she came out as a lesbian and his heart was crushed. Rather than go to college he got a deadend job at a little emporium that reopened in town and accidentally got embroiled in the supernatrual.

It was a monster of the week game, and his class was "Professional", interpreted very sarcastically and very loosely. That sword he carries is The Phoenix King (a perk of the job). It can speak and has deep lore implication that he's just too much of a dumb himbo to really grasp or care about. What's important is that it lights ablaze when he says "Hey, do the thing where you're on fire".

Other notable parts of his character design are his Marry Poppins briefcase (another perk of the job), and his cracked iphone 5 (not a perk of the job). He's dumb as rocks, but his heart is in the right place, specifically in his rib-cage

Morgan is a Dragonborn barbarian that I made for a friend's campaign set in a homebrew setting. I was feeling lazy with character designs that day so I adapted the character of Morgan from my unreleased serial to the 5e setting, thus she has hair instead of a frill.

Same backstory though, an exhiled princess who refuses to work out her feelings and instead cuts people's heads off while moralistically spouting about a religion that basically no one but her believes in. She has some cool homebrew heart-eating mechanics that my DM gave me because no one wanted to play a healer in that game, so this interpretation of Morgan also gets up to some Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom shenanigans.

Of notable importance, I was basically done with the drawing and then asked my DM "Hey, where do you stand on the lizard boob debate?" after a hilarious conversation in which they lost all respect for me, my DM decided that, yes, lizards have boobs in his setting, so I haphazardly added some cloth to her chest to be compliant with his lore.

Lastly is Rythian, an elf Monk that I threw together for an ill-fated game that only lasted like one session. He's an elf monk, named after a yogscast member because I really struggle with originality sometimes. His body was horribly burned in an incident so he wears these cool wraps to cover it up... why he doesn't wear just regular clothes is beyond me. He's special like that I guess.

It's been a while so I don't remember much more of his lore, but I do remember how much I miss adobe illustrator draw... fuck that was a good app. Why the fuck did they have to shut it down? Is there anything else like it?

Some of my coolest characters for ttrpgs were from games that I played with a close group of friends who never want to speak to me ever again... so out of respect for them I'll omit all the cool art I made for those games.

Headcanon - Tessa Bailey Protagonists Play D&D

For the purposes of this headcanon, it's Piper and Hannah Bellinger, Brendan Taggart, Fox Thornton, Taylor Bassey, Myles Sumner, Hallie Welch, and Julian and Natalie Vos. Somehow they're all playing together. I hope some people who like both D&D and Tessa Bailey read this and understand what the hell I'm talking about...

Piper chooses an aasimar after reading about their heavenly beauty, and the sorcerer class so she can have a high charisma. It's basically her, but with magical powers. Her play style is the definition of "highjinks" and Brendan loves her for it.

(While thinking this up, I thought "Rose Gold Dragon" and found it way too funny.)

Brendan would absolutely, 100% be the guy who just plays a human fighter. He chooses all the boring but sensible options - I can see him picking the Battlemadter archetype. I can imagine the adventure stalling because of him being so methodical and cautious when he plays. He physically cannot speak in any voice other than his own, despite everyone urging him to imitate their voices as practice. It's painful to behold.

Before I read too much of Hook, Line and Sinker, I thought it would be too obvious to make Hannah a bard. I stand corrected. Hannah IS a bard. She would have a specially curated playlist for using her class abilities. After deliberating over what race to pick, she goes with Piper's idea of playing an aasimar too so they can be sisters in-game too.

I had trouble thinking of what character Fox would play. I don't think he'd be a straight up fighter/wizard/rogue/cleric. I considered bard, paladin and ranger, but after watching the Critical Role Campaign 2 opening credits I could see him getting enthusiastic about Beau's fighting style, so I'm going with monk. He plays a halfling for the dexterity bonus (and maybe Tolkien homgae?). I think he'd be a good role-player, and be the one who thinks of interesting uses for his abilities - like out of the box problem solving.

Hannah and Fox would definitely be the ones with the well thought out backstories who get properly into the setting, whereas Piper would be the one to keep an eye on and a bit of a DM's nightmare. Brendan would just be interested in achieving the goals of the adventure. He certainly wouldn't be a a Munchkin power gamer (he'd hate people like that) but he would totally be just focused on optimising his character.

Taylor decides to go all out and picks the barbarian class. Ignoring Myles' suggestion that halflings were made for her, she plays a goliath. She goes out of her way to talk to NPCs, and rages with utter glee.

Myles plays a Life domain cleric and is constantly loaded up with healing spells - because even at the gaming table, he can't help but do everything to protect his girlfriend. He plays a hill dwarf for the Wisdom bonus, which after his halfling comment, Taylor finds hilarious. She makes sure to mention how she towers over him at every opportunity. If anyone's seen Lord of the Rings and the "dwarf tossing" moment gets mentioned, every possible joke ensues.

At Julian's urging, Hallie agrees to play, partly because she wants a ringside seat to his utter nerdiness. I originally thought "druid" would be an obvious parallel to her profession, but now I think she would play a rogue. Her gnome charms everyone at the table, before unleashing an absolutely lethal mischievous streak as she settles in to the game.

Julian might make a good Dungeon Master, if the planning didn't stress him out. Otherwise I feel like he'd be the kind of guy who creates a really powerful character build AND thinks of role-playing reasons to justify it. Maybe a wizard? I also feel like he'd be looking over Hallie's shoulder, trying to help her out and tearing his hair out if she made a "non-optimal" choice. Also, one word - "lore".

I haven't read Unfortunately Yours yet, but I feel like Natalie would just embrace a certain side of herself as a tiefling warlock. She and Piper wreak havoc together and have earned a "duo nickname" by the third session.

It’s MY blog – and MY birthday – and I get to talk about the latest Pokemon release over a month after it came out because I want to!!!

Ok so I’m gonna start off with the stuff I didn’t like very much. Gonna try keep it brief because I otherwise really enjoy the game and a lot of my takes are common in the fandom

I have seen CGI from 2002 power rangers specials that look better than this game

Frame rate is crunchier than gravel sometimes

Honestly,it’s embarrassing that a game from 2022 looks and runs this badly

Especially since PLA released earlier that year, and while not perfect, it ran much better

SV definitely needed an extra year or two in the oven

I hate how most houses can’t be entered and that most shops are menus

Wish you could pet your mons again, not just wash them

WHY IS PUTTING BREAD ON A SANDWICH SO DIFFICULT

In the options at the start of the game where you’re asked by someone (might be Nemona, can’t remember) what dream you have, why can’t you answer with ‘be a trophy spouse for a hot champion’?!

Steven should cameo in this game (I will NOT debate this)

Really miss the catching mechanic from PLA, woulda worked amazing here

I love that Pokemon is going in a more genderfluid direction when it comes to character customization (and NPCs too)

But I wish there was a skirt option for the unifotms (and not just for the f! mc, for everyone!)

Also the uniforms are so ugly… please let us change out of em soon gamegreak!

And the stuff with his dad was heartbreaking

I love Nemona too!

Such a fun rival!

She’s a quirky tomboy with a great design

Lowkey love that she’s from a rich family

I love how she’s basically obsessed with you

The animation of her ponytail is so pleasing

Her and Arven debating who was the better friend was lowkey hilarious

Any game with a cooking mechanic is automatically top-tier

I have made some RANK sandwichs and it’s so funny every time

The absurdity of the Clive/Clavelle thing had me dying istg

Paradox Pokemon in general honestly, brilliant idea all around

Loved Area Zero, especially the deeper you got

It was so sparkly!

I loved the designs of most of the towns

Terastalization is fun and dumb and I love the goofy, sparkly hats

The ghost tera-hat being the gen 1 ghost sprite is great!

Loved playing online with friends

It was so fun to travel together!

Especially since you can customize right away and don’t have to wait until you reach the first salon like two hours in!

Larry, Grusha and Ryme are probably my favourites

Iono’s gym test was so funny I loved it

The designs of the human characters this gen were PEAK

I want Dendra’s outfit, Eri’s outfit, Grusha’s outfit, Katy’s outfit, Miriam's outfit, Sada’s AND Turo’s outfits

I am a big baby, so I loved skipping basically all the battles with random trainers lol

Man that ending with the AI Turo reveal and fight was so fucking sick omg

I enjoyed every single path in this game

Great music

The final cutscene of The Way Home was… so good

Riding on Miraidon was so fun!

Clavelle asking what Cheugey meant was unreal

I like the idea of champion being an official rank, and multiple champs existing

Yeah, the graphics aren’t great, but damn some of the areas in the game are still so beautiful

I loved how the sky looked and changed too

Ok so in summary, this game has serious issues that really should not be present in such a recent game HOWEVER the characters and story were amazing, there were some awesome Pokemon, and it was super fun and enjoyable to play.
