In my version of the story, Randy didn't want to be a leader.

He became leader when he was 15 years old, placed as leader by his father who was a friend of Reynaldo. When Reynaldo died, the clan was desperate to find a leader who could put everything back in order and make the clan better, the best decision at the time was to trust the Radmans, a noble and wealthy family of criminals.

He didn't want to be a leader, but he didn't want to disappoint his family or clan... He was practically forced to be a leader without any experience.

At least he wasn't such a bad leader.
