I absolutely hate it when any show is canceled before getting the chance to tell its full story, it's a deeply unfair thing to happen in any case
but I will admit. there is sometimes a TINY element of relief I feel when I hear what the plans were for the followup that never got to be and the plans were. bad.

it is beyond infuriating how anne rice seems to insist on marius being a positive force in anyone's life ever. like she can't fully commit to exploring the fact he groomed armand and has repeatedly taken away his consent for what marius thinks is best (take the end of TVA as an example) and just kind of flatly puts it in the narrative. there's not really much interest in how these horrific events make marius come across as the worst because EVERYONE loves him. for gods sake, lestat learns from armand exactly what marius did to him in TVL and then proceeds to go find marius and be super friendly to him in the same fucking book. even armand and pandora, two of the people who have MORE than enough right to hate him, do not. it doesnt feel like shes trying to explore the toxicity of the abusive dynamic he traps them in, it just is there. and like yeah ofc the toxic vampire romance series but i think that this should be handled with more care. and it is not ever really framed in a way that she is interested in exploring how marius should easily be one of the most horrific characters in this series because it kind of feels like sa/rape/grooming/other things of that sort are just put there to further plot and not to really get the respect that they deserve in a medium.

The fact that Junpei proposed to Akane in ztd just baffles me every time I think about it like. He doesn’t know anything about her. They were friends for, what? A year? When they were kids. And Junpei never even knew she was an orphan or that she had a brother. Given just how important Aoi is to Akane and the massive role he played in her life, it’s very telling that Junpei doesn’t know about him. He also doesn’t seem too interested in Akane as a person. He only likes the idea of her, of sharing a bed or taking a shower together, but when she actually starts talking about her interests such as the titanic, he thinks she’s talking nonsense and only plays along when he doesn’t know what else to say. He also has this image of her as a damsel in distress (partially because Akane puts up an innocent persona to avoid suspicion) and he wants to play an action hero who protects her from seeing the scary dead body, completely oblivious to the fact that she put them there, that she wants that bastard dead. And how much does he come to terms with the truth after the nonary game? He feels betrayal, resentment, but he still proposes to her. He still spends his life chasing after her. He still puts himself and quark in a potentially dangerous situation in order to see her again. Junpei doesn’t have his shit together at all, he refuses to accept that the girl he liked as a kid isn’t perfect and has changed, has changed without him

> You are encased in the cement that is those you love who love you.
> It protects you. Makes you beautiful. It will immortalize you.
> Your legs are restless.
> You're going to have to move, sooner or later.
> The sun will blind you, at first. The wind will feel like razors against your skin for a time.
> Do you think it'll be worth it?
> Who would choose to become human, over art?
> There will be times where your once graceful shoulders will hunch in pain. Your formerly serene face crumpled in ugly anger.
> You will be so scared to turn around and see the wreckage. Chunks of cement and dust are all that will be left of the statue you used to be.
> Aren't you scared?

For reference on Warcraft's use of racist tropes.
Like the game's story has the trolls, the jamaican accented monsters with dreadlocks that wear tiki masks and grass skirts, and practicing worship demonized voodoo as the original owners of the land much of the game is set in, but white humans and elves arrived on their land from a different continent, stole the troll's holy land and pushed them to the brink of the extinction.
And guess what, the trolls are depicted as evil and deserving to be wiped out for this!
Also their evil voodoo gods literally share the names of real world benevolent voodoo deities worshipped today in many parts of africa like Dambala.
oh my god>??

I'm 20k words into that modern au fic. which means this fic is 1k short of matching the length of that Other fic I've been picking at for uhhhhhhhhhh almost a full year? and I've only been working on it for like a week tops.
and I can not stress this enough, I'm still in the prewritting phase. this fic is going to be fuck off massive by my standards of fic writing. like. this is the level of Condensed the prewritting is it's Just the raw plot points and absolutely no fluff
and idk. I'm sat in a literal closet at a family function rn and just. Need the distraction of being proud of myself for being excited to actually write this and see what the word count is when all is said and done bc like, I may be 20k into prewritting but I've yet to hit Varre with a car so I'd say I'm still only half way through planning out act 2.
and I'm having a lot of fun with it bc they're just like. snotty rich kids largely dealing with teenager woes instead of empyreans in a dog fight for who gets to be God. and it's Insanely funny to me and probably no one else.
I barely ever do Proper AUs when I write fanfic. it's just easier for me to stick to filling out canon stuff, or just doing canon but in a different hat. so being excited about this kind of idea is very new to me xbdbdbdb
