They poured over the Potters's books for hours. Every now and again, Flitsy would bring them tea and food. She would pester them until she was happy they had had enough and leave them to it. The pile of books they’d searched through grew steadily bigger. Soon there were only a handful left which they hadn't looked at yet. Regulus had a promising tomb. It had a passage stating that there was a way to ensure one’s life, even in death, that he found interesting when James suddenly yelled out. 

“I’ve got something!” He cleared his throat and began to read aloud. “To gain eternal life you must create these three nigh-on impossible circumstances,” He flipped the page. Regulus watched him with bated breath as he waited for him to continue. “Adequate space, plentiful water and time. Wait, what book is this?” James furrowed his brow. “How the fuck did this get into the pile?!” He pushed the offending text towards Regulus. 'Foresty; A wand maker’s guide to the perfect trees for generations to come.' Regulus picked it up and tossed it into the read pile, returning to his own search. 

He flicked through a few more pages and there it was. The Horcrux. He silently read through the passage and then read it again. He checked the title of the book, 'Secrets of the Darkest Art by Owle Bullock'. He’d never heard of this book before. He was certain his own family’s library didn’t contain it. It was old, probably medieval by the state of the binding. It didn't look like it should belong in the Potter Library. Regulus opened it again and a scrap of parchment slipped from between the first pages. 

‘For my future descendants. Keep this safe, do not let it fall into the wrong hands. A seer told me many years ago that this book would be instrumental in defeating great evil. To the boy who didn’t die, who will eventually find this book, keep the sun close, you will need him.’ Regulus felt a cold shiver run through his body as he finished reading the note. He found James with his eyes. Sirius had said hundreds of times that James was like the sun, forever warm and brought light into your life. Did that mean he was the boy who didn’t die? He looked back at the book in his hands. Voldemort had definitely created a Horcrux, there was no denying it now and this unassuming, ancient book held the key to destroying it. They were one step closer to ridding the wizarding world of the monster who was destroying it.

considering the historical influences in the fashion of Dishonored (and the extent of nsfw fanfiction this fandom has) I’ve been thinking about the layers that would be, realistically, part of the daily dress

which means: dishonored seems to honour the importance of a vest in a properly dressed gentleman’s or lady’s wardrobe

vests were, and I cannot stress this enough, a mandatory part of an outfit, to the point of men wearing only vests if they could not afford a fully tailored suit (trousers + vest + jacket) and a new shirt and opting to only wear a fake collar under the vest for the illusion of a full outfit

shirts were underwear, so to speak. there were no occasions in ‘polite society‘ where one could only wear a shirt without a vest on top.

this is something we see mirrored in both dishonored games, though the style of the vests and clothing have somewhat changed, they still follow the same rules of vests worn with every outfit, as far as we can tell. (we could argue that Jessamine is not wearing one, or that some higher class women aren’t wearing vests under their buttoned up jackets, but since we don’t really see underneath we can’t judge.)

we see the vests be worn even by the Whalers in the first game (which in itself brings up many questions. are whalers, the actual whalers that capture and kill whales, held in high enough regard by the society that they made a vest part of their uniform? or is it merely something that is worn by all? something that every citizen of sound mind would don, were they to leave their house?)

there are a few exceptions to this, of course, but this whole thing came to be by asking a simple question

does the Outsider wear a vest under his leather jacket?

now, in the first game, his jacket is unbuttoned just enough for us to get a good enough peek at what lies beneath. which is to say: there is no hint of a vest underneath. judging by the vests in the first game, the fashion was that the vest would go up high, often covering collarbones or even having a standing collar. what we see on the Outsider is just... an unbuttoned shirt

it’s much the same in the second game, even if we examine his final concept art, his outfit consists of a shirt (more or less underwear) with most of the top buttons unbuttoned, and a jacket on top. no hint of a vest underneath

what I’m trying to say is that the Outsider is a slut

as for saejima, i do miss him being solo... like he's funny with majima at times, but as wack as Y4 was i still really liked his coliseum scene, and his prison adventures in Y5 were a real treat too..

hi, love. I haven't seen that many people doing the Patreon thing when it comes to fanfic, but it's pretty common for people who draw for example to set up a Patreon. I believe that everyone who does, just like myself, needs the money. I wouldn't be doing it if i didn't need to. I figured the Patreon setup was the best idea since it's not really that common for people to tip writers, we've been struggling with getting reblogs and comments, so you can imagine.

Right now, I'm applying and doing tests to get an internship, which still won't be enough because I'm also trying to apply for a master's. So, yeah, I'm really thankful for everyone who tipped me on ko-fi and subscribed to my Patreon, last month my savings were over, and the Patreon money was what helped me pay for some medical stuff I needed (Idk if you saw the whole mick schumacher's sick club, but yeah — huge thank you for everyone who subscribed/donated btw).

We often see fic writers as little robots who don't eat, drink, or sleep. We request stuff, and expect an instant reply, and when we get the content we don't even go back to the page to tell the writer our thoughts. We don't reblog, nor leave comments, but still, we expect them to keep writing and keep sharing everything as if it didn't take hours, sometimes days to come up with a 1k piece polished to what we think readers will like best. I hope I don't sound rude, I'm just trying to make a point because I'm tired of seeing writers deactivating, tired of seeing my friends getting writer's block and then people still demanding things.

On top of that, I'm still posting a lot here, from smau to blubs and long fic requests (and I won't even talk about how some pieces aren't even getting a hundred notes, which always makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong, if my writing is bad, or if there's anything that I could do to make the reader's experience more enjoyable), and it takes a lot of time, it's even harder to balance the two profiles now, but still, I keep sharing some of my work for free. so please, please, don't make me feel bad about needing money. thanks ❤️.

the worst part of doing this analysis is i have all the scripts in front of me. but as a guy who doesnt normally look for scripts, i was kind of struggling to find things outside of the unaired pilot so poked around some threads and. inexplicably theyre all on genius.com. its a nightmare world for ME
