I love the various modern interpretations of greek myths, how we now with all our human psychological understandment can propose ideas (well, headcanons) about characters. I'm saying that just to say Odysseus would be PEAK older brother behaviour with poor Ctimene. He's the older brother who grimaced when he first held his younger sister, who'd cut the head of her dolls, who'd sing "CTIMENE AND EURYLOCHUS SITTING IN A TREE!". He hides under her bed waiting for her to come to sleep and then yell to scare the shit out of her. And for that, Ctimene is peak younger sister behaviour as well. When Odysseus got the scar from the boar, she must have been like "Am I the favourite now? ^^". She steals her brother's clothing and watches as helpless Odysseus tries to get someone to help him. She marries one of his BEST FRIENDS and will brag about it any time she can. All in all, I propose to y'all: Peak sibling behaviour from Odysseus & Ctimene. Thank you for your time.

not negating anybody's experience i know black sails is outstanding regardless of how or when or how quickly you watch it. but also, as a gay person who watched it in real time, you really had to be there. they introduce anne bonny and you know your pirate history so you KNOW she's a girlliker. she has a moment with max but youre not sure where it's gonna go. because it's 2014. you wait over a year for 2x01 and she and max fucking obliterate you with the sword drop kiss scene. all anybody is talking about in the tags is vaneeleanor. a few weeks later 2.05 drops and flint is not only textually gay and kissing a man but he is waging war on england, on all of civilization for taking away his male lover. you find this out after investing fourteen hours on this show that have spanned over a year and a half in your real life. not to mention the miranda stuff and silver's arc and mr scott and madi and the death march that seasons 3 and 4 feel like when you have no inkling of how it's gonna end. but you stick with it regardless because it's good and besides it's 2014-2017 and the only genre show with gay people in it is fucking... the 100? lol anyway. more gay people flock to black sails between seasons and the tag becomes more about the gay shit than vaneeleanor, thank fucking god, finally. you all dread the last season. you brace yourselves for the worst. you thank the stars this show airs weekly because watching even just two episodes together is too overwhelming. 4.08 airs. you cry. 4.09 airs. you cry. 4.10 airs. your life will never be the same. you cry so hard you catch a fever and have to stay in bed all week to recuperate. you know this was a once in a lifetime experience never to be repeated again but you can't help but hold every other show to this impossible standard.

and my heart still aches a bit at the possibility that we could have had peisistratus??? telemachus definitely goes to An island due to the implications of the lyrics. he could’ve gone to pylos, athena could’ve gotten tele and peisi to meet! AARGHH

YEAHHH the Telemachy was also potentially referenced again in that bit of Hold Them Down with Antinous pointing out the missing prince on a ‘diplomatic mission’ and the whole murder plot. Jorge’s original drafts/demos definitely followed a bit closer to the original Odyssey before things got changed. No clue if that meant we would’ve 100% had Peisistratus, but it seems Telemachus didn’t and won’t sneak out to run away for this mission in Epicverse with how things are running right now unless it just gets briefed over. Telemachus and Odysseus having their reunion song after the suitors slaughter might also indicate towards Telemachus never leaving. This also means Eumaus probably getting skipped and 💔, but alas. For retelling developmental purposes… Let’s see where it goes :9 Whatever comes, at least we get banger songs (emotional damage) out of it JWKSHSKSNSN
