Question
Natasha x reader x Wanda
The three of you had been together for years. It was not just the similarity of your lives that you shared, it was your personalities and the traits you shared that bought you together and bonded the three of you.
You hadn’t had many people that loved you as they did, you had Clint and for years you believed he was to be the only person to love you. And then he met Laura and you gained a sister, then he saved Natasha and finally you had someone to love you.
It was a few years after that the two of you found Wanda and you couldn’t believe your luck when she reciprocated the feelings you and Natasha had for her.
You’d never believed you would be so lucky but a dark part of you told you to wait for the worst. Good things didn’t happen to you, the worst was what you expected.
You’d been planning tonight for months. You wanted everything to be perfect, no, you needed everything to be perfect for tonight. It was your three-year anniversary but that wasn’t why you needed perfect tonight.
You wanted to ask Natasha and Wanda to marry you.
You were terrified to ask honestly. It had been months of finding the perfect rings, the venue and planning on how to ask the two. You’d been talking to your brother and Laura about how you should do it and the two had been a large part in the whole plan.
Natasha had been in a training session with Steve since this afternoon and Wanda was out with her brother for the day. The fact the two had been busy all day and you hadn’t seen either of them since that morning, made the anxious part of you worry.
For most part you were keeping your cool over the whole thing, but you did have a long talk with Clint already. He’d given you a lot of good advice on how to propose and he’d made sure your anxiety wasn’t getting the best of you.
It was now five and both women had said they were going to be home any minute.
“What’s all this for?” Natasha asked as she and Wanda entered to see you standing in the living room, dressed up nicely and holding two bouquets. “It’s different to how we normally get greeted.”
“It’s a lovely variation though.” Wanda said, taking a bouquet out of your hands and kissing your cheek. “Y/N do you know where I put my grey boots? You know, the ones without a heel?” She asked after placing the flowers into some water.
“You left them in the bedroom closet last I saw.” You told her as Natasha took her flowers and also kissed your cheek.
“Thanks. Pietro will kill me if I’m late.” She said, moving into the bedroom.
“Late? I thought you had spent the day with him?” You questioned, watching as Natasha placed her flowers in a vase and then moved to the closet where the three of you placed your mission gear.
“We did but he wants to go out for dinner. I couldn’t say no to him.” She said, emerging from the bedroom.
“I thought we had plans for tonight?” You said, taking a seat on the couch as Natasha pulled on a thick jacket.
“Sorry kolibri.” Wanda started, leaning down and kissing your forehead. “I forgot. We’ll make plans for another night.” She promised, kissing Natasha and the leaving.
“I take it you’ve got plans for the night too?” You asked the red-head.
“Last minute mission. Sorry dorogy.” She said, kissing your forehead briefly. “We’ll do it another time.” She added, leaving the room without sparing you another glance.
You leaned your head back on the couch and placed your head in your hands.
Well, that was a bust.
“It’s not a bust.” Clint said. “You can still propose, you’ll just have to do it another night.” He chirped.
After Natasha and Wanda both walked out for the evening, you’d called your brother to inform him of the fail that was this evening. Instead of allowing you to wallow in misery Clint had decided that the two of you were going to go out for dinner.
“It was like they forgot our anniversary was even a thing.” You groaned.
“It doesn’t have to be tonight. You could propose in the middle of a battle and they’d say yes.” He said, throwing an arm around your shoulders.
“Well, now I’ve got a backup plan.” You laughed. “Thanks for this Clint. I really needed this.” You have said, smiling up at him.
“Of course. What kind of brother would I be if I didn’t help my little sister with her love life?” He questioned, smiling back at you. “Now do we get coffee first or pizza?”
“Coffee. What kind of question even is that?” You asked as you both turned down the street to the coffee shop you both frequented.
The two of you had just ordered and taken a step back when you noticed a couple sitting at a tale behind you.
“Y/N, what are you looking at?” Clint asked finally looking at what you were.
It was Natasha and Wanda. Clearly not having dinner with Pietro or having a last-minute mission. It was Wanda and Natasha having a meal together, laughing, looking happier than they had in weeks.
Neither had noticed you as they continued their meal so you shushed Clint.
“The secrecy is killing me. I say we go home and do it. Finally get it over with.” Natasha said with a smile.
“We can’t do it tonight. Y/N’ll be heartbroken.” Wanda told her. “We did skip out on whatever she planned tonight.”
“She’ll get over it. You’d be surprised how fast people can get over things. Just like she’ll get over us- “Natasha continued but you couldn’t hear over the person calling out name for coffee orders, but you didn’t need to hear any more especially after you’d hard the words ‘breaking up with her,’ over the din.
Without waiting for the coffee or Clint, you walked out of the shop without another glance at the two. You’d made it to the park across the street when you heard pounding footsteps behind you.
“Y/N, Y/N wait!” Clint called, running after you. “Maybe we didn’t hear correctly. Maybe they were talking about someone else.”
“They said my name, Clint.” You snapped, spinning on your heel. “They said breaking up with. They weren’t talking about anyone else. I should’ve seen this coming.” You sighed, tuning away from him.
“Seen what?” Clint asked as you sat on a nearby bench.
“I should’ve seen that they’d leave me.” You said as he sat next to you. “There were signs for months. They’ve been distracted, every time I enter a room they stop talking and every time we make plans the cancel them with some lame excuse.
They’re not the same anymore. Everything we used to do is a past memory. They don’t kiss me, they don’t touch me, when we go to bed it feels like they’re a million miles away and it’s the same when we’re awake.
I heard the two of them arguing the other day about who would be the one to do it and when I entered the room, they made up some excuse about milk.
I should’ve known I wasn’t good enough. God I should’ve known better. After all, who’d want a freak like me?” You questioned, putting your head in your hands.
“A freak like me, that’s me that’s who.” Clint said, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and pulling you into his side.
“I don’t think I can go back there right now.” You murmured, resting your head on his shoulder. “I don’t see the point if I know what’s going to happen.” You added.
“Then don’t.” Clint said, making you look up. “The world’s not in any danger at the moment. Let’s get you a bag, take a jet and go to the farm. You can stay for as long as you like.”
“Are you sure about this Clint?” You asked your brother. “Would Laura be okay with this?”
“Laura has been pestering me to get you to come for a visit for months.” Clint said with a smile. “We’re family. You could stay with us for years and we’d be happy. I love you; Laura loves you and the kids really love you. So, what do you say kid?”
“Let’s go see Laura and the kids.” You said after a minute with a small smile.
“Auntie Y/N, will you teach me how to throw knives?” Cooper asked over breakfast. You’d been staying at Clint and Laura’s for a week and you felt happy. Natasha and Wanda had called and texted you continuously he day after you left but you had blocked the two of them.
You’d left a brief letter saying you didn’t want to make them suffer any longer and that you really did love them. It was all you could bare to say to the women and you didn’t want to say anymore.
“I don’t know kid? What’s your mom say about this?” You questioned him but looked at Laura who was cutting some of Nate’s food.
“She said as long as you said yes, we could play with them. So can we? Please, auntie Y/N?” He begged as Laura smiled at the two of you and nodded.
“Alright.” You said, causing the boy to cheer enthusiastically. “But only after you finish your breakfast.” You added. Your nephew began to shovel his breakfast into his mouth quickly making you and his mother laugh slightly.
“Slow down, honey. You’ll choke.” Laura warned. “Clint called, he said he’ll be back around lunch time but I've got to run into town. Would you be okay if I left you with Lila and Cooper?” She asked you.
“Of course. Are you taking Nate with you?” You confirmed as Lila came downstairs and issued yours and Laura’s cheeks in greeting.
“Yeah, he’s got an appointment in town and I’d rather leave the other two here with you just in case it goes long.” Laura explained, picking Nate up once he’d finished his meal.
“It’s okay, Laura. You two take as long as you need, we'll have fun here. Won’t we, you two?” You said, looking at both children. Cooper nodded around a mouthful of toast and Lila gave you a sleepy nod.
“Okay.” Laura said, kissing the children’s heads. “I’ll get this little man dressed and we’ll be on our way.” She continued, moving upstairs.
“You want to join us and throw some knives, Lila?” You asked the girl as you moved to pour yourself some more coffee.
Your niece nodded, this time albeit more enthusiastically, and seemed to perk at the mention of training.
“Eat up then.” You said, nodding at the two. “We’ll finish breakfast and get dressed and I’ll show you why I’m better than your dad.” You told them; the two children shared a small laugh at the comment.
“Very good you two.” You said as they both managed to hit the board.
“We didn’t hit the centre though.” Lila said with a slight scowl as she looked at her knife. Gesturing for the kids to put the knives down and come over to you, you knelt down to their level.
“It’s not about hitting the middle.” You explained. “The middle is a target, just like the rest of the board. As beginners hitting anywhere on the board means you have the skill to see a target and hit it.
When your father and I joined the circus and began to throw knives or shoot a bow and arrow, neither of us were any good to start with. Sure, we took to it quickly but that didn’t mean we had the stance, the knowledge or anything that was truly needed apart from the fact we could hit the middle.
Just because the middle is the best doesn’t mean hitting anywhere else is an undesired goal. It might take you days, weeks, months or even years before you can hit the middle but as long as you’re hitting the board, I’ll be happy because you’re trying.” You told them. “Now you have a choice to make. Do you want to keep going or have some lunch?”
“Can we keep going for a while?” Lila asked after sharing a look with her brother.
“Of course, you can.” You smiled and stepped back as the two moved back to their positions. The two had only been practising for a few minutes when you saw Clint’s jet land on the other side of the house. “Okay that’s enough.” You said, making the kids stop. “Go inside and wash up, your dad will be in in a minute.”
The kids nodded, put their knives down and ran towards the house. You smiled at their retreating forms as you jogged over to Clint’s jet.
“Just so you know, the kids both agreed I've got the better aim.” You smirked as you caught sight of Clint. You began to say something else when you saw who was standing behind him. “What did you do, Clinton?” You asked, dawning an emotionless face.
“Just hear them out. Please for me. Just talk it out and I’ll be inside if you need me.” Clint told you, placing his hands on your shoulders. Before you could respond to him, Clint ran off towards the house.
“I don’t know what he told you, but you wasted a trip coming here.” You said, turning back and crossing your arms.
“Y/N, please.” Wanda begged. “Please just let us talk.”
“I’ve heard what you’re going to say and I don’t want to hear it again.” You said, attempting not to break your facade.
“Stop being so stubborn, Y/N.” Natasha growled. “You don’t know what we’re going to say because what you heard was wrong. So, get your cute little ass in that jet and sit down so we can talk.” She said, raising an eyebrow at you.
The two of you stared at each other for a moment. Out of the three of you, it had always been you and Natasha who shared the same stubbornness. Neither of you liked backing down and you both always believed yourself to be correct.
“Don’t make me drag you into that jet, Y/N.” She said, clearly not joking. Without saying anything you let out a huff and stormed passed the two and onto the jet. You heard the two walk in behind you but you didn’t turn around.
“I did you both a favour when I left.” You said finally breaking the silence. “I made you both stop fighting over who would get to break the news to me. I didn’t think you’d want to do it person this badly.” You added, turning to face the two.
“Y/N you have this all wrong.” Wanda said, moving forward and snatching your hand into hers. “Please sit. Clint wouldn’t have brought us here if we wanted to hurt you.” She told you, staring at you with pleading eyes.
Her eyes always were your weakness.
“You have five minutes before I decide to go.” You told her and sat on one of the benches.
“Clint told us why you left and first of all, we’re so sorry about everything. Being distant, fighting, ignoring you, forgetting our anniversary, we’re so sorry.” Wanda said, looking as if she were about to cry.
“We screwed up.” Natasha cut in. “We took you for granted, we ignored you and we fucked up, royally.”
“You got that right.” You said dryly, watching the two wearily.
“You deserve to be angry at us. But we need to explain what you heard.” Wanda said. “That night, at the Cafe, we were talking about you but we weren’t talking about ending this.”
“Then what were you talking about?” You exclaimed, jumping from your seat. Any shred of control you had was beginning to fade. “Because I remember the words, ‘She’ll be heartbroken,’ and “She’ll get over it,’ and ‘She’ll get over us.’ If you’re done with me, if you were cheating or whatever it was just tell me.” You cried.
Wanda moved forward and pulled you into her arms. The action almost made you laugh; she always was the most compassionate.
“We weren’t talking about anything like that.” Natasha said, standing next to Wanda. “We’ve been fighting for weeks because we wanted to ask you something. Neither of us could agree on any detail and we just kept fighting over it all.”
“We wanted to ask you to marry us.” Wanda continued. “We went out that night because we wanted to finally finalise some details without you finding out and spoiling the whole thing. But then we came home and you were gone.”
“If it’s not too late we’d still like you to answer the question.” Natasha said, now looking as nervous as Wanda was.
You didn't answer the women as tears began to fall down your face and you began to laugh, hysterically.
"Y/N are you okay?" Wanda asked, pulling back slightly. "Oh god, Nat, did we break her?"  She questioned frantically.
"I'm okay, I'm okay." You said, wiping away the tears from your face. "I've been such an idiot and I'm so sorry. You know how I feel about letting people in and when I thought it was over, well, I felt like an idiot for you both in.
I ran because I didn't want to have to look at you as you left. I wanted to ask you you both to marry me on our anniversary." You admitted.
"And we abandoned you on our anniversary." Wanda concluded, pulling you into her arms and squeezing you tightly. "I'm so sorry." Natasha wrapped her arms around the two of you and held you both tightly.
"Now that we've established we all have a lot of issues, I'm going to ask. What do you say the three of us get married?" She asked after several minutes of just holding each other.
"I say yes." Wanda said.
"Of course." You said, smiling at her. A fresh bout of tears rushed to your eyes as you realized something. "I could've ruined everything."You muttered, hiding your face in Wanda's neck.
"You were nowhere near close to ruining anything." Natasha said said, lifting your head and kissing you properly for the first time in weeks.
"We're very persistent about our love for you, we weren't losing you without a fight." Wanda added as you and Natasha pulled apart. She pulled your face to hers and repeated Natasha's actions.
God, how you missed them

Dreams and Nightmares
Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is my second fiction, enjoy it and send your honest opinions!
---------------------------
The quinjet driven by Clint entered into a beautiful valley. Not knowing where are they heading to, Steve asked Clint and all he given was "You'll see." The jet descended to an area surrounded by trees and engines stopped while doors are opened by a loud hiss. One by one of the group came out from it and Natasha came later, still injured, hanging onto Clint.
Soon after, they are walking into a house, Clint knocked on the door and called "Honey?". Steve looked at Thor's questioned face and asked, "Clint, where are we, exactly?"
"Welcome to my safe house." answered Clint, opening the door and going in. "Fury set this one up, years ago. Kept this off SHIELD's files." And called, "Honey, where are you? I am home!". A pregnant woman came in front of them, smiling shyly and Clint introduced her to Steve, Tony, Thor, Bruce as "Gentlemen, this is Laura." Tony waved at her and she responded as "Hello guys, nice to finally meet you, I know all your names." Clint laughed and hugged her. She is a nice woman, Steve thought while Tony and Thor instantly remembered Pepper and Jane.
"Daddy!" The group was startled for a minute to turn their faces to see a young boy and a girl running towards Clint's opened arms. Clint hugged them and the little girl asked, "Did you bring auntie Nat?". Natasha stood from where she was sitting and the girl ran towards her shouting a happy shriek.
After doing a number of household chores and getting a dinner done by Laura and Natasha, all of the group was feeling sleepy. Thor left early telling that he needs to elaborate the vision that Maximoff girl showed him. Steve tried to talk him out of it, but it was no use. On top of that Nick Fury came in to advice them. Laura and children were fast asleep and the remaining five of them were very exhausted.
"So, sleeping arrangements," Clint started, "Up there, two bedrooms, four of you guys can divide into two as you want," the group stared into each others faces and Bruce said, "Me and Nat, Tony and Steve. Sounds okay, right?"
Everyone went to their rooms and tried to sleep despite the defeated feeling of their failed mission. Tony was tired so as soon as he touched the pillow he was out like a light. Steve was also tired but he needed to clean up before he get into the bed.
When he came back from the bathroom, Tony was already sleeping. Steve stared at his peaceful face, reminding himself that he is still a human behind all his iron armor. He got into the bed, spreading the sheet from down to up, and sleep hit him as soon as his head touched the pillow.
Steve was awaken by a muffled scream and a vigorous shake of bed. He woke up and switched on the bedside lamp to see what is happening. Sheets covering Tony were gone, and his fingers were clinging into the pillow, and his face was converted into a terrified state. He was constantly muttering, "Please don't leave me, please Cap, I need you. Please stay with me." Steve was terrified. He tried to wake up Tony, but it was no use. He was crying now, tears streaking down on his cheeks as he begged for the Captain to stay with him, not to leave him alone. One final agonizing scream saying "No!" and Tony woke up crying, sweating, heavily breathing into Steve's arms which are strongly wrapped around him.
Tony cried loudly while hugging Steve while he ran his fingers through Tony's black-brown hair, trying him to calm down. When Steve tried to move out his hands, a little voice of Tony's said, "Please, don't let go. Hold me." So Steve stayed as he was before, letting Tony to shift into an easy position.
Still holding Tony onto him tightly, Steve wiped his tears with back of the hand, asking, "Nightmares, Tony?"
"Yeah, this one was rough."
"You were begging me to stay with you. What did you see?"
"Nothing. Nothing important."
"Tony, is there something that you are not telling me? Firstly Thor, now you? Please tell me, what the hell is going on with you? What made you so frightened, to beg me to stay with you?"
"That mind tricking bitch showed me something, Steve. You were all fallen, except me. Aliens are invading the planet, and I ran to check up on you, to see even whether you are alive, and you hold my hand and asked, "You could have saved us, why didn't you do more?" and died. Thats when I might've said you to stay with me."
"Where did this happened, may I ask?"
"In Sokovia, when we were infiltrating HYDRA."
"Oh god, Tony, why didn't you tell me?"
"I was afraid that this will let me down, you know 'I am Iron Man' something."
"Tony you will never be a let down. I mean you are always saving us, remember you flew a nuke to a Chitauri mothership? I can't do stuff like that even though I am a super soldier, but you can. Because you have this bravery inside you."
"I am not a hero like you."
"You are a hero in your own way, Tony. You are always doing more for us. See, the whole team is with you. We are going to fight this together, okay?"
"Okay." Tony said with a little voice, "I actually wanted you with me. Thats why I checked up only on you in that vision."
"Why especially me?"
"Uh, how can I put this? When you stand by my side, there is this feeling, like I can avenge the whole world, you know."
Steve kissed Tony's forehead in answer to that and Tony snuggled a little bit closer to him. They stayed the same for a time felt like eternity, and Steve raised his voice saying, "You should get cleaned up, you are a mess."
When he was all cleaned and dressed in Steve's big white shirt (because all his clothes were drenched in sweat), Tony got into the bed, looking fresh. He allowed Steve to cover him with the bedsheet and take him closer to snuggle.
"Cap?"
"Yes, Tony?"
"Don't leave me, stay with me forever. Not just staying for a mission, for the entire lifetime."
Steve took Tony's hand and planted a kiss onto it, saying, "I will, always."
The entire night went out without any nightmares.
The following day, Bruce, Clint and Natasha peeked into the room to see Steve Rogers and Tony Stark snuggled up, with the most peaceful smiles written all over their faces.
Clint wanted to wake them up for breakfast, but Natasha shushed him and closed the door, mouthing "Let them be."

Note
for the character ask thing: i'm going to be really inventive this time and say... robbie lewis! (because he's bae, too)
ooh that is inventive. despite the fact i’ve seen every ep i spent most of them obsessing about james so, might have to think! he is also a very good dude though
do I like them: of course! he’s a steady lead, and despite his slightly working class dolt facade, he’s actually a clever and devoted detective
5 good qualities: 1) he’s kind. he’s the gentle one and he honestly just wants to do his best by people. 2) he’s fatherly to the young coppers because he knows how they feel and i think we see too many of the older cops in shows just trying to teach them a lesson but he actually wants them to do well? 3) he’s unpretencious but he isn’t stupid 4) it would have been so easy for him to have a chip on his shoulder but he’s proud of his background and where he’s from, even working with morse and hathaway 5) he admits when he’s wrong, another thing i never see with men! when he’s been rude to laura and he insists he had no right even when she forgives him. he knows where the line is.
3 bad qualities: 1) sometimes he’s too set in his ways. i was meaning how against change he is but mostly that time he didn’t go to the dentist for 20 years 2) he’s in love with laura but he has no idea how to deal with it so he just doesnt deal with it at all 3) he grows out of this but he doesn’t need to throw james’ faith back in his face just because he doesn’t believe in it or because he’s personally been hurt (but going back to the earlier question he also apologizes for this)
favourite episode/etc: oh my god, you know i had my answer for james picked out but but one threw me. um, ok is it 4x04 where laura is kidnapped by those twins? because i remember thinking he was good in that ep. he tried to save them and get them help even after everything they had done
otp: laura. she’s the perfect foil for him and she’s a badass and they work seperately and as a unit
brotp: james. we never see lewis’ kids and i know people ship them but for me it’s always been a fatherly relationship. i think he felt the responsibility from having morse as a mentor to maybe live up to that legacey but then james doesn’t need someone like him. he needed someone like lewis to keep his feet on the ground and to help him remember whats important and to focus (”he might be an awkward sod but he’s my awkward sod” honestly they both know they couldnt work with anyone else)
ot3: robbie/laura/james. like have you ever met three peolple who love each other more? even when they are all seperate? like even laura and james adore the other so it’s a ready made family really. and james shipped them both and wanted em to be happy! and they respect laura so much! and they love that she could basically kick their arses!
notp: unhappiness? i dont know really. there isn’t any ships in this show except the main ones. uh, i guess i didn’t care for him and his ex that one time
best quote: i don’t know, but i like ‘i’m happy. my face is misleading.’ because same. i also always liked ‘we all have an auntie that lived in biker’ because that’s such a liverpool thing that even i recognise
head canon: he sometimes quotes random lines from poems just to see if hathaway notices. also he loves his grandkids a lot obviously BUT like, one day if james ever had a kid with someone he would constantly be asking about the baby and just always be giving him unwanted advice

#244 "Sorry isn't going to help when I kick your ass!"
What to expect: Implied 'Steter', Decent!Peter, Time-Travel, Kid-Fic, Unintentional Fix-It
Read below or read on FF.NET | AO3
Tumblr media
Talia is standing in front of her home, covered in soot and staring at the remains of her smoldering home. It's salvageable, she thinks, but the more important matter at hand is how they ended up here. Why did Kate Argent target her family? And just who was the little girl that broke the mountain ash barrier around their home and mock howled until she woke everyone up?
The human pack members have been escorted to the hospital and then to the hotel by her brother Peter and her husband David. She had tried to send her son Derek with them, but he reeked of such guilt and shame that she didn't want to let him out of her sight. Especially after he confessed that he was the reason Kate knew the ins and outs of their home. It was then Talia's turn to feel guilt and shame for not noticing how her baby boy was being manipulated, so she kept him by her side. And since Laura was alpha in training she had to stay as well and Cora didn't want to go anywhere without her older sister, so she stayed too.
Her two daughters kept the mysterious young girl entertained, growling playfully and letting the tiny slip of girl pounce on them. They know the little girl knows of werewolves since she whimpered and scented them when the firefighters were putting out the fire, and Talia had kept her hidden so the Police wouldn't take away the only non-Hale child.
She hasn't spoken a word, and the only sounds they can get out of her are laughter, and mock howling and growling.
"Have I mentioned I'm sorry?"
The male voice coming from the woods so close to their home has all the present Hale's freezing and Derek hurrying to his mother's right side. Red eyes blaze in anger and blue eyes flare in response.
"Sorry isn't going to help when I kick your ass!" And that- that's a woman's voice.
Laura hands Cora the little girl, who then props the little girl on her hip, and Laura flanks her mother's left side with yellow eyes flaring in response to the threat. As Laura growls, Talia starts shedding clothes to accommodate her shift. A large black wolf then stands tall and proud between her two children, shielding her youngest and the one who saved their lives.
"You're human. You can't do much damage," the male mocks her.
"Keep testing me, Peter, and I'll repeatedly stab you over and over." Laura snorts and Talia growls disapprovingly. "Your healing factor only gives me more incentive to do it since you won't die on me."
"I love you too, darling."
The woman stumbles into the clearing first, spitting curse word after curse word at the man named Peter who walks out into the clearing with ease. Talia growls and the woman freezes, and Peter's eyes flare blue in response.
"You couldn't have told me we were close?" The woman grits out, not moving a single muscle. "When we get home, I'm so kicking your ass for losing our daughter and throwing me to the wolves."
"Mama! Papa!" The little girl shouts, wiggling out of Cora's hold and as soon as her feet hit the ground she's sprinting as fast as her five year old legs can carry her.
"Diana Hale," the woman scolds as soon as she scoops the little girl up into her arms, "what did you do?"
"Hale?" When the woman glances back her way, Talia is standing naked and proud. "Did you just call her Diana Hale?"
"Whoopsie," the woman sing-songs before turning to her male companion. "Alright, Papa Hale, you're up."
"Wait, wait, wait," Laura huffs. "Hale? Peter Hale? Uncle Peter?!"
"I'm so confused," Cora frowns.
"You and me both," Derek growls.
"How?" Talia demands.
"I'll tell you what you want as long as you put your clothes on first," Peter drawls, gaze on the sky. "I didn't like seeing you in the buff back then and I still don't like it now."
Laura chuckles. "Prude."
Peter growls in response, but cuts it off quick enough when his companion nudges him. Little girl Diana reaches for him and as she redressing, Talia watches on in awe as her apparent brother loses his scowl and his eyes light up when he has the little girl in his arms. They both scent each other and Talia can't help but scent the air once more, noticing how this Peter Hale actually does smell like family. Like pack.
"I'm dressed. Now talk."
Peter opens his mouth to answer, but his companion shushes him and does it herself. "I'll just tell you. Peter's terrible at telling this and besides, it's really my story to tell anyway."
Talia quirks an eyebrow at her. "And you are?"
"Stiles. I'm Peter's soon to be wife."
"Aren't you a little young?"
"If I’m old enough to drink, I’m old enough to make my own choices." Stiles grins. "But that's another story for another time. Peter's not Diana's biological father, but he has been there since the beginning. Giving her the Hale last name was kind of last minute."
"And one I'm grateful for everyday. Aren't I, little cub?"
"Yes, Papa," Diana giggles when Peter attempts to blow a raspberry on her neck.
Stiles is smiling fondly at the two of them before she gives Talia her attention once more. "Anyway, if you haven't guessed it yet.. yes, we are from the future." Derek and Laura are the only ones who snort, but since Talia remains quiet Stiles takes that as her cue to continue on. "When I was younger, I unintentionally saved the life of a Fae. Said Fae blessed me and my future children with a gift we could not ask to be taken back less we start a war."
"What gift?" Talia wonders.
Stiles smirks. "Time-traveling. We can jump into the past or future, but I have a rule about changing the past. We don't know what consequences will crop up, but apparently Diana didn't get that memo."
The little girl giggles. "But Mama! It's auntie Talia and cousin Laura! You guys talk about them so much that I wanted to meet them for myself."
Stiles sighs and turn towards her little family. "I know, bug, but you've completely changed things now."
"Changed things? Are you saying that the fire-"
"Completely decimates the Hale pack," Peter drawls. "In the original timeline, only Derek, Cora and I survived it."
Talia and Laura snarl while Derek and Cora whimper. "But as you can see, Diana changed things. The Hale pack lives on, so now we," Stiles says while gesturing between herself, Peter and Diana, "have to return home and see what's changed. Damage control is going to be so much fun," she then deadpans.
Talia nods. "I wasn't aware that time-travel could even exist, but be that as it may.. I am grateful for what your daughter has done. What my niece has done for us all."
"No problemo, auntie Talia."
Stiles and Peter both huff a laugh. "You're too smart for your own good, bug. Now hurry and go say goodbye to your cousins and aunt. We need to get home before anything else can be changed."
Diana is placed on her own two feet once more, she running full speed for Laura. She hugs each Hale, scenting them and laughing loudly when Talia growls playfully into her hair.
"Word of advice, Derek," Stiles suddenly pipes up. "Don't beat yourself up. No matter what, Kate would have figured out a way to get to your family. She preyed upon your innocence and it wasn't your fault. Okay?"
Derek mumbles something, but Laura scuffs him upside the head and smiles sadly. Stiles realizes that the family will help him get over this on their own time and that Derek will have the help he needs this time around.
"You okay there, sweetheart?"
Stiles glances up at Peter and nods. "Yeah. You? When we get home, it's highly likely that there's going to be a lot more Hales in Beacon Hills."
Peter snorts as he slings his arm around Stiles' shoulders and glances back up at his family. "I think I can get used to that. Do you think Scott will be a werewolf without me going crazy and biting him?"
"Only one way to find out. But I do gotta say, it's going to be very interesting to see a Beacon Hills that's run by alpha Hale instead of alpha McCall."
"Interesting indeed." With Diana finally content of rubbing herself all over her cousins and aunt, she rushes back to her mother and father. "Okay, little cub," Peter says while lifting up his daughter, "lets go home."

Negative Emotions and How I’m Coping with them.
My best friend has moved back up North (sounds like Game of Thrones, doesn’t it?!).  Laura moved to Surrey six and a half years ago and last May moved to Hampshire.  Kristian and I managed to get down to see her three to four times on a good year, or once on a bad year.  Either way, I missed her but she’d made a life down there and Kristian and I had planned on moving down there in a few years time.  However, since her daughter was born in November, Laura and her husband made the decision to move back up North!  I can’t tell you how happy that’s made me.  I’m gutted she’s to leave her life behind, but she’s ready to be around her family and friends and wants her daughter to grow up around family too.   It’s good to have her back here and she seems and has said she is much happier up here.  We’ve seen so much more of each other (of course!) and planning to do things is so much easier; we can even have random days out!  We’ve been out a meal, just us (another friend was supposed to come with us but unfortunately she’s still recovering from an operation) which was scrumptious and heartwarmingly enjoyable.  She’s just popped around for a coffee, I’ve invited her around for a coffee in a time of need (not my story to tell, so I’ll leave that there) and we’ve had a random morning out to a vegan festival. Laura messaged me the Friday night, which was strange as I was researching how to make clean treats” and a lot of the ones I was looking at were vegan - great minds!  She was wanting to go as she’s intrigued my the lifestyle and wants her daughter to grow up to be as healthy as possible, so we were both going for inspiration, of which there was lots.  I’m not vegan and don’t think I ever could be, I’m a foodie I love all food and providing I can afford to buy organic I will.  I do, however, buy vegan friendly, non-animal tested make up where possible (Kat von D and Tarte being my favourites at the moment).  That may not be enough for some, but it’s enough for me. I love Laura.  We just connect, she’s a fantastic friend, wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, auntie, sister and a fantastic human being.  We’ve been friends since we were seven years old, had our ups and downs (we’re both quite strong minded) but we’ve always been drawn back to each other and it’s made us closer than ever.
This week has been full of them for me.  I’ll start with anger.  I don’t cope very well with anger, I either cry or it turns to rage.  It’s something I’m working on though - last Sunday I posted about my disappointment in Kristian’s guise of a compromise and how that angered me, I knew what the underlying emotions were (see previous post) but still struggle with the emotion.   Anxiety:  my skin has bothered me this week and today feels like it’s getting worse.  I put a repeat prescription in at the GP’s for some Zeroderm, two days after picking up my last one.  When I went to collect it two days later, I was told by the receptionist that it will have been ignored as I shouldn’t be going through it that quickly and if I am I need to see a doctor about it.  I don’t cope well with bureaucracy, I never have.  It took all my strength not a yell at her (I know it’s not her fault, but less of the attitude at the time would have helped), so I left and a behaviour surfaced one which never helps me - I refused to go back.  If something annoys me, I have a streak of stubbornness which bites the hand that feeds me.  So I refused to call up for an appointment, after all, it states on my medical notes I need that cream so why can’t I have access to it?  I’ve calmed down now, obviously, so I’ll make an appointment on Monday and hope my stubbornness hasn’t caused my skin too much of a setback.  I will also speak to the GP about the attitude of their staff and to someone else, it may have had a much worse reaction.
I’ve also found I’ve been comparing myself to others a lot this last week or so.  I’m so worried I’ll be the unfittest and fastest person at the Les Mills training course at the end of the month.  However, I was watching Ashy Bines on Snapchat (Ashybines1 - if anyone would like to follow her) who covered this topic and it was a revelation.  Amazing, how I was suffering with some self-doubt and the topic was covered totally randomly.  She said when she starts suffering with self doubt she thinks of some positive things about myself.  So, here we go: 1.  One of my friends comes to me for fitness advice, over other people she’s close to because she thinks I’m less judgemental, more open and honest. 2.  I am fit, healthy and in a loving, stable relationship. 3.  I love my eyes.  I have a form hetrochromia, so I have all three colours in my eyes and they change colour depending on the amount of light.  They’re brown in the dark, yellow in low light and green in bright light. Self confidence is something I struggle with, slowly but surely I’m building on it. I’m learning that being able to talk to others about my dreams, goals and what I’m good at isn’t being conceited, if done properly.
I’ve managed to get to the gym three times this week; if I go with Kristian tomorrow morning it’ll be four.  It feels good to be back there, I still struggle with motivation but it’s anxiety based and once I’m there all is good.  I’ve done BodyCombat twice and it’ll be the release I’ll be learning to teach which I’m excited about, it’s an amazing release.  I’ve also done an upper body session which included: 1.  2km sprints to warm up 2.  Skipping - 30s skips with 30s rest for 3 sets 3.  Leaning camels x10 (no weight) for 3 sets 4.  Kettlebell side bends x10 each side for 3 sets 5.  Reverse crunches x10 for 3 sets 6.  Dumbbell hammer curl x15 reps / 3 sets 7.  Dumbbell lateral raises x15 reps / 3 sets 8.  Tricep dips x15 reps / 3 sets 9.  Cable upright rows x15 reps / 3 sets 10.  Cable tricep extensions - 21s / 3 sets
My sister in law, Katie, has just called after her third shift being a student nurse. Hearing her speak about how much more interactions with patients and family, dealing with very poorly people and gaining confidence in taking vital signs and getting such positive feedback from her mentor and other auxilleries.  It’s heartwarming, really made me smile.  I’m so proud of her - chasing her dreams and they’re finally coming true.

Adventures in Dissertation Land
Tumblr media
In May I presented the Second Annual Susan J. Martin Scholarship back home in Michigan.
So many events have taken place since my last blog update I hardly know where to begin.  After trips to Michigan and Australia in May I returned to Albuquerque to begin the process of packing, culling out, and moving to Arizona.  Once again I realized how much I really dislike packing.  I enjoyed the process of cleaning out, donating under utilized goods, and organizing things but loathe loading the moving truck.  Even worse is unloading and unpacking once you arrive at your final destination.  When I left Kansas and Oklahoma I was able to get my new homes set up quickly because I lived by myself and could spend all my time unpacking and setting up my space.  When you move and are integrating into your future husband’s home, however, the process is a little more complicated.  After three weeks....I finally was able to say that I was somewhat settled.  Even now after a couple months I am still adjusting to living in a house that is, quite frankly, a mansion.  To a girl who grew up in a three bedroom ranch any house that has a master bedroom suite almost as large as your first family home is a mansion.  Perhaps the most difficult transition has been how to balance my duties as a wife, step mother, and doctoral student.  Yes... you read that right...a wife and step mother.

On August 28th I married my best friend in Sedona, Arizona!
The most anticipated event of the summer took place on August 28th when I married Don in a small, private ceremony in Sedona, Arizona.  With my family, Don’s son and his girlfriend in attendance we said our I Do’s in a lovely setting.  For me the most difficult aspect of planning a wedding was of course the fact my Mama was not here to participate in the process.  She would have loved everything from the venue, to the dress and my custom made fascinator (thank you Barb Wafer!), and our simple ceremony, everything about the wedding would have thrilled Mama.

The Grand Canyon from South Rim in b/w
This summer really has been a whirlwind.  After I arrived and got settled my dear friend Kari arrived and spent a week with us in the valley of the sun.  Kari and I always wanted to find time to hit the road with our camera gear and go on photo adventures.  Arizona provided us with some fantastic opportunities while she was here and I am so happy that we had a week to enjoy the open road and the amazing diversity of the Arizona landscape.  In August my family came to Arizona to have a fun vacation and attend the wedding.  Having my nephews Nick and Alex here was so much fun and they decided that Auntie M and Uncle Don have a pretty amazing house and swimming pool.  We took my family to the Grand Canyon and we also found time to Stand on the Corner in Winslow.  I managed somehow to squeeze in a full edit/rewrite of my dissertation prospectus in late August and early September and now I am on dissertation time.
Tumblr media
In Seminole, Oklahoma/Seminole Nation with Kay and Laura!
My summer also included two extensive research trips for my dissertation.  The first was in late July to the town of Xenia, Ohio.  My storm chasing/weather weenie friends will remember Xenia as it was on the receiving end of a massive F-5 tornado in the 1974 Super Outbreak.  Today the scars of the past are still evident in Xenia but the town has moved forward and is a charming hamlet outside of Dayton.  I spent several days researching and taking photos for my dissertation.  In August another research trip took me to Oklahoma.  For me being back in my adopted home state was relaxing and a welcome respite even though I was doing research.  I had the chance to see my dear friend Kay and my LIW (Laura Ingalls Wilder) friend Laura.  Of course the highlight of the trip was retracing research steps with the one and only Lawana in Muskogee.
Tumblr media
Only Lawana could have so much fun in a cemetery! Woo hoo!
Now I am challenged on a daily basis to write.  Sometimes that is easier said than done.  My stepson, who suffers from mental illness, at times consumes a great deal of our time.  Despite the fact he lives in his own apartment, he requires a great deal of care and attention. While this is not new to me (my former spouse suffered from mental illness as well) his mental health has an uncanny way of derailing everyone else’s lives, mine included.  As a step mother I feel a responsibility to be there and help and as a wife to support my husband.  As a scholar, however, this presents a huge hurdle that I am having great difficulty clearing.  So, scheduling some trips where I can leave Arizona and get away to write, think, and work away from my responsibilities are being planned to help break the writing log jam.  My self imposed deadline of graduating in May 2019 is still attainable if the men in my life can learn to lean on me a little less or protect my writing time/space more so I can work with fewer interruptions.  For my friends who are nearing their comprehensive exams and the freedom of dissertation hours I want to give you a piece of unsolicited but necessary advice.  Be greedy with and about your time.  I wish I knew how to say NO more often.  I wish I could say NO and not feel guilty about letting my husband and stepson down.  I need to learn how to say NO and stand my ground to ensure that I am able to meet my deadlines...in the end only measurable progress on my work will alleviate the stress in my life and provide some much needed peace.
Tumblr media
My dissertation primary source...a diary!
I hope that everyone is having a splendid fall.  I am looking forward to presenting at the Western History Association conference in San Antonio in October, a week in Oklahoma in November for research, a long weekend in Fort Scott for Candle Light Tour in December, and time with my family in December as well.  In between these trips I see treadmill and writing time in my future to stay on track for a May graduation.  Wish me luck!

BrightSide and I celebrated our twenty-second anniversary last weekend.  Twenty-two years of wedded bliss.
Two decades?  Of bliss?  Bwahahahaha!
If you’re buying the idea that anyone experiences two decades of blissful existence, regardless of their mate’s utter delightfulness, well then I’ve got an oceanside condo in Kentucky to sell you.
To mark this momentous occasion, though, I figured I’d toss some little nuggets of wisdom out there.  Just to see if any of them stick.
Auntie Laura’s “22 Years of Wedded Bliss” Commentary
**  Compromise is the bedrock of every relationship.  You’re merging two personalities into one space which means, by necessity, you will find items you actively despise in your home.  Choose your battles carefully – that space sucking comic book collection may be annoying, but it might pale in comparison to the rustic array of wood carvings that pop up in its place.
**  Listen.  Speak.  Then shut up and listen some more.  This is on forever repeat.
**  I feel for the tropical birds who marry penguins, I really do, but you’ll want to tread gently with your thermostat.  Accept that layering is a year round necessity or you’ll end up with a spouse walking around in underwear all the time.
**  Furious about something?  Go ahead and fight about it.  Clear the air.  Just remember that after a certain time (I hit it around 11:00pm) you start to be doubly pissed at the original offense and the fact that you’re losing sleep arguing.  Sometimes your best bet is to get a good night’s rest and tackle it in the morning.
**  Passive aggressives make difficult spouses.  Resist the urge to write that snarky note about how the glass won’t walk itself into the dishwasher – either get over it or deal with the problem head on.  Leave underhanded machinations to the teenage girls.
**  I got married at 24.  Now that I’m 46 I look back on that doe eyed, fresh faced young thing and just smile.  No one is the same person after twenty years of walking this earth.  Accept that and adjust accordingly.
**  That means you have to be open to your spouse’s changes as well.
**  At the risk of offending other procreators, I’m a big believer in having your ducks in a row before kids come into the picture.  It’s never the “perfect” time to have kids, and I doubt there’s anyone who truly feels prepared when they hit this particular milestone.  But I know we were nowhere near ready to handle the challenges of parenting from a united front given the utterly stupid arguments BrightSide and I had when we were first married.  Just my two cents.
**  If you’re a woman married to a man you’ll have approximately 52 more skin/hair/face products and will need to jockey for space accordingly.  If you’re a man married to a man, I have no idea what your bathroom looks like.  Hopefully minimalist.  If you’re a woman married to a woman, godspeed to you both.  You might want to consider tripling the size of your bathroom.
Here’s to twenty-two more years of wedded bliss, BrightSide.  We’re five days in…only 8,025 more to go.
A little nuggety wisdom from the old married lady. #humor #marriage #advice #RFTM BrightSide and I celebrated our twenty-second anniversary last weekend.  Twenty-two years of wedded bliss. Two decades?  Of bliss?

These Are the 17 Pieces of Advice Real Moms Are Tired of Hearing
Image Source: Shutterstock It certainly does take a village to raise a child, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you want the entire village weighing in on every single thing you do as a parent. Between people you know (and don't know) who have children, your own family, and - the best - friends who don't even have or want kids, the unsolictied advice can get a little old and overwhelming. There comes a time when you just need to raise up your hands and proclaim, "Mama knows best." We asked real moms, "Which piece of advice are you most tired of hearing when it comes to raising your kids?" and have a feeling that you've probably heard some of these 17 gems as well. * "'Let them eat what they want when they want.' . . . And no, they're not eating what they want when they want. I'm not a short order cook and and snacks aren't meals!" - Nicole * "No tv before age 2. So that means everyone else has to watch in private. Come on!" - Meggan * "You need to have more kids so she isn't an only child. She'll never learn how to share with others." - Becky * "Stop cleaning my house and spend more time with my daughter." - Doreen * "'You should let him eat more sweets.'" - Laura-Sian * "'Boys will be boys, just let them go.'" - Skye * "'If you always pick him up when he cries at night, he'll never sleep through the night...'" - Maria * "Anything starting with 'if it was my kid..' from someone with no kids." - Arika * "'The book says…'" - Kacie * "That I need to stop breastfeeding when he gets teeth or at 1." - Paige * " That I hold my daughter to much!!!!!" - Krystal * "'You need to spank him or he won't grow up to be an adjusted adult in society.'" - Carrie * "My auntie ( who doesn't have kids) said I had to breastfeed my youngest cuz bottle fed babies r always Ill and she will be fat." - Anne Marie * "The 'scare threats' that start out like 'just wait 'til she...'" - Christie * "'You need to make sure everything is certified organic and absolutely no sugar.' Psssh. I'm a single mom of two. Organic is expensive and they eat 3 bites no matter what it is anyway." - Amber * "Anytime anyone without kids self righteously proclaims anything they will or won't do as a parent I roll my eyes. Keep dreaming darlin." - Jesika And perhaps, the be-all and end-all of annoying comments is simply: * "Pretty much anything that is unsolicited. Anything." - Amy Image Source: New Line Cinema http://bit.ly/2lyr74A
