You know, I've seen the complaint that Hazbin Hotel is predictable. I do agree with some of those complaints. I think I fell into that same rabbit hole. My rewrites of the Vees are boring. Vox and Velvette already hate Valentino but they have to stick it out. I did the same thing I complained with Hazbin, I made Valentino not a threat. He's not intimidating if everyone already hates him. So I'm doing a uhaul on the Vees relationship to each other.

Vox and Velvette relationship is weird. They are kinda like siblings that are 20 or so years apart. They almost have nothing in common because of their technological differences. They do try to make it do though. Vox tries to understand Velvette's fashion brand and influence in social media. Considering he's from the 50's he doesn't understand that T.V isn't as big as it used to be. Velvette teaches time about what happened when she was alive. Vox is big into the future and always wants to learn more. At the beginning at the story, I feel like they would be awkward. Not hostile, but weird.

Vox's and Valentino's relationship is basically the same as before. Valentino is a abusive partner. He doesn't respect Vox in the slightest. Jax and Ragatha love each other so much that they cause a glitch that makes the rag doll pregnant

At first, no one suspects anything, until Ragatha starts to feel more and more tired during their usual adventures and throws up every single thing she eats. Caine quickly checks on her and finds something inside her that he calls a parasite caused by the glitch. He wants to fix Ragatha by getting rid of whatever this parasite is, but she immediately thinks it might be a baby since she always wanted to have one. It sounds ridiculous until the ringmaster actually confirms it. Everyone is shocked, especially Jax, who doesn't know what to do. Meanwhile, Ragatha is overjoyed and can't wait to meet their little bundle of joy

And here's the big arrival of the twins

Although the pregnancy goes smoothly, Jax quickly notices that Ragatha eats and vomits more than a regular pregnant woman. She doesn't seem to mind, thinking it's just because they're in a digital world where everything is different from the real one. Soon the rabbit and the rest of the circus members notice that Ragatha is also gaining more weight than she should, but she doesn't even seem to notice. Jax is very worried that something is wrong and often wants to argue with Caine. Apart from that, everyone is very supportive and helps Jax take care of Ragatha until she gives birth…

Jax teaches him how to play pranks on Pomni and Zooble and that's why they are Ethan's main victims. The twins are still inseparable though and enjoy doing many things together, even though they have very different hobbies

With Caine changing reproduction from a glitch to a real thing possible in the circus, Jax and Ragatha decide to have another baby

No one can really say who had the idea first. Ragatha says it was her because she always wanted to have at least three children. Meanwhile, Jax smugly says it's him because he just thinks his rag dolly gets extremely cute when she's pregnant (she smacks him on the head afterwards lol)

Because Owyn and Ethan are small kiddos, they don't understand the concept of pregnancy. One day, Ragatha takes them for a walk around the tent and explains that there's a baby growing inside mommy's belly, and soon they'll have a younger sibling. The twins are excited and eager to meet their new brother or sister. It's fascinating how attached they are to the baby, even before it's born, and Jax often finds them sleeping in the most adorable way: resting their heads on Ragatha's belly and feeling their sibling's movements. On the other hand, Jax gets jealous of his own sons when they spend too much time with their mom. Some time later, Pomni bangs on the door of their room, her whole jester self covered in paint and mud because Jax has ordered the twins to go play with their auntie Pomni instead of bothering Ragatha, who needs a lot of rest these days. And by rest, he meant kissing, cuddling, and having her all to himself 24/7

Unfortunately, a defect in the code causes complications

It's not even the end of the pregnancy when Ragatha suddenly starts to feel worse. She throws up again, has trouble getting out of bed, refuses to eat, and suddenly becomes depressed. Jax tries everything to make her feel better, but nothing works. Meanwhile, the twins are only allowed to see their mother when she seems to be at her best, which is rarely. Jax becomes more and more frightened, his anger intensifies and he yells at everyone for nothing. His friends try to calm him down by telling him that Ragatha and the baby will be fine, but it only makes things worse. Caine also doesn't know what to do anymore, he sits in his office all the time trying to find some defect in the code

All of this leads to little Arabella being born prematurely. She's a rag bunny just like her older brothers, but she's much smaller and missing an eye, which means she'll need more attention. That doesn't change the fact that Ragatha loves her baby Ellie so much and makes her a button eye that resembles her own. Unfortunately, Jax isn't the most optimistic about this and distances himself from his daughter, spending more time with Owyn and Ethan and leaving the baby more in Ragatha's care. He tells himself it's because Ellie is different from her brothers and will be a burden from now on. The truth is that Jax is just afraid of failing to raise and protect her as he is still not the best father material. It takes him some time to even hold Ellie for the first time, and when he does, they form a special bond. Jax is surprised when the little girl turns out to be no trouble and recognizes him as her daddy and wants to play with him

How does the relationship between the kids actually look like?

It's messy. As Ellie grows up, Ethan finally has a new victim for his pranks and at one point even bullies his younger sister. This doesn't last long, though, as Ragatha scolds Ethan for it and he quickly promises to be mama's good boy. Ellie spends more time with Owyn, reading books and playing together. Though they can fight a lot, they don't want to be separated for long, and during adventures, Owyn and Ethan keep an eye on Ellie, who tends to get lost a lot (once, as a toddler, she almost gave Jax and Ragatha a heart attack when they heard her scream, but it turned out she was also giggling because she was also being chased by some dog)

What the other circus members think of Bunnydoll family?

Pomni has been named the children's auntie and becomes their official babysitter whenever Jax and Ragatha are not around. At first she thinks the twins are cute, until they grow up a bit and start causing trouble. There are moments when she thinks they're even worse than Jax, but that doesn't change the fact that she loves them and sometimes (when she doesn't want to throw Ethan into the Digital Lake) treats them as her own children

Gangle is Ellie's favorite, and they often have tea parties and fashion shows. Ellie is also the one who designs a new set of comedy masks for the ribbon girl, which makes her tear up a lot. Gangle also plays the role of the kids' second auntie and babysitter, plus she's the one who teaches Owyn how to read, making it his favorite hobby

Zooble doesn't want to deal with Jax's kids, at one point they even manage to tie Ethan to a tree when he isn't looking as punishment after he did the same thing to them some time ago. Ragatha has to calm Jax down when he finds out about this and tries to convince him to talk to Zooble instead of throwing his hands at them. As for Owyn and Ellie, they has nothing against them as long as they don't act like Ethan. Actually, Zooble likes to participate in Ellie's fashion shows, but they won't admit it

Kinger is their proud grandpa. He teaches Owyn about insects, gives Ethan candy (which is why the boy never plays tricks on him), and builds forts with Ellie. At first, Jax thought Kinger would be irresponsible with them, but to his surprise, the chess piece is very careful and his grandchildren's safety is now his priority. He often says he doesn't have a favorite and loves them all equally, but it's clear he's leaning more toward Owyn

Last but not least, the circus ringmaster Caine proclaimed himself the children's godfather and often arranges special adventures for them. He doesn't mind their sometimes chaotic behavior, but he strictly forbids them from going to certain places. The only one who is allowed to see him working is Ellie, as she seems to be fascinated by how the digital world works, and since she was affected by the defect in the code, Caine does some tests on her from time to time to make sure she's completely healthy now

Oh and there's Bubble, but he has a restraining order against all three of them…

Family time!

The kids sleep with their parents until they are old enough to have their own rooms. As twins, Owyn and Ethan are forced to share a bedroom, and both are jealous that Ellie has her own all to herself.

Ragatha is the best mom in the digital world. She does everything she can to make sure all of her kids have fun. She sings them lullabies, fixes their toys, makes them new clothes, and sometimes even lets them sleep with her and Jax when they have a nightmare. If anything happens to any of them, Ragatha will go into her protective mama bear mode and is even capable of beating up any NPC that tries to hurt them

Jax is the cool dad who lets his sons do whatever they want as long as they don't get into serious trouble. With Ellie, he is extra protective, and sometimes he doesn't like the pranks Ethan pulls on her. Still, he enjoys taking them on more dangerous adventures, even though Ragatha forbids him, and it usually ends with a few bruises and smiles on the kids' faces

The couple doesn't have much time to themselves now, so whenever they get the chance, they sneak out to go on a date, watch some movies, and just rest together, knowing their children are in good hands

At one point Ragatha jokes that maybe they should try for one or two more babies, but even though Jax finds the idea quite appealing, he's still worried about Ragatha's well-being, remembering what her last pregnancy was like. However, Owyn, Ethan and Ellie probably won't wait long for their parents to announce they're having a baby...

Topper is very afraid of Ruby, he worries too much about his brothers' safety when there is a killer close to them, and he almost always ends up blaming Violet for making one of his brothers become a target for a killer...

Spewart (Passion) = Ruby is in love with Spewart, he finds him a very charming and cute rabbit, everything about Spewart enchants him, his strength, his personality, his voice, his hair, his muscles...everything about Spewart enchants him and makes him he has an obsessive passion for him and is very jealous when he sees him close to other women. Spewart has a gigantic fear and hatred for Ruby, because Ruby is too dangerous for him and for his family and close friends and he doesn't feel anything good about Ruby;

Hariet (enemy) = Hariet is afraid of Ruby too, but she is one of the few rabbits who has the courage to face him, mainly because she can threaten him with homemade bombs and can use high defense. Ruby also doesn't like Hariet at all and sees her as a big problem in his path;

Rango (enemy) = Ruby sees Rango as a very pathetic and crying rabbit, who is too weak and can't even defend a miserable stone. Rango is afraid of Ruby, but he is also afraid of losing those he loves to Ruby and feeling very guilty for not being able to help in any way...

Violet (target) = You can imagine that Ruby is extremely envious of Violet and wants to do everything to end up being able to live the same life of comfort and affection that she has... As for Violet, she has a huge fear and if She feels very guilty for having brought more problems to others with Ruby's presence stalking her...

Uuuhgsgshs dumping random info/headcannons abt FNAF characters while I work on their designs pt 1: William Afton

Basic info:

Name- William Vincent Afton (I do this fun thing where the characters fan-made names are their middle name)

Birth: February 21, 1948

Height: 5’11

I’m not going to go in depth in his life, maybe another day, but basically

He lived in Manchester, England as an only child. His father, Thomas, was neglectful and emotionally abusive while his mother, Maria, was much kinder. His mother ends up dying when his 14 from pneumonia, causing him and his father to basically not interact unless necessary. In 1966 he left England to live in Utah and got easily got into Dixie Technical College (I think it might’ve been changed to Utah Tech in like… 2022 but I’m not sure) due to his intelligence. He meets Henry in college, they make Fredbear’s Family Diner in 1972. William marries Clare in 1968 due to getting her pregnant at a college party (they both despise each other). Micheal’s born in 1969, Evan’s born in 1976, and Elizabeth’s born in 1979. They end up getting divorced in 1978. Clare runs off to some state to try and actually enjoy her life, leaving William as a single father to three kids.

He learned to be charming at a young age to gain attention and respect from teachers and adults. He can be extremely impulsive. He ends up becoming a bit childish in his adult life due to not really ever being able to be a kid, but mostly tries to just play it into his fun and over the top entertainer role. Despite usually being outgoing and talkative, he isn’t the biggest fan of having to interact with people, entertaining them is fun but actually talking to them is just draining. He can be extremely high energy at times, when he’s not sleep deprived, of course. Obsessive, paranoid, jealous easily, normal William Afton stuff

he’s autistic (just like me fr fr). I like to think he’s weirdly flexible and fast, mostly because I want him to be Henry’s opposite; while Henry is big, strong, gruff, and scary in the “wow he could beat me up easily” way, William is lean, quick, nimble, and scary in a “wow he could easily sneak up on me and stab me” way. He has a chewing habit, he’ll chew on just about anything he’s holding, which is the biggest reason he and Henry have separate tools. This also leads to his lip biting habit; his lips aren’t dry, just scabbed. Henry was the first person to like… actually give him love, that wasn’t just “aw cute charming child”. William was (and is) extremely gay for Henry, and it took him a couple minutes for him to come to terms with that once he actually realized it. Definitely not cis, probably on the genderqueer spectrum, but he has no idea until like… Vanny tells him about trans people and he’s like “holy shit”. Obsessed with rabbits, probably could name every breed, and information of each one.

Here are some of my thoughts on Ruin gameplay wise:

Ruin isn't that great from a gameplay perspective.

I do like that Steel Wool took a lot of criticism to heart and they improved Ruin in the Story department way more comparitively to the base game ten fold.

Like imagine having a Rabbit antagonist show up more than twice and is a constant presence throughout the game???? Imagine a protagonist with actual motivation and backstory to why they are there with relatable emotions?

I'm sure Vanny is sure jealous of MXES right about now. (Gregory to Cassie too probably and that's how the game ended how it did but that's another post)

But here's the thing that really soured me on Ruin. Especially on repeat playthroughs, and it was something I was easily discovering as I played through the first time.

There's really no creditable danger in the majority of Ruin.

The atmosphere is darker, and it is spookier.... But it is all literally in your head. The danger and horror is all an illusion.

Mr.Glitchy Malhare man can't harm you directly. He can only summon animatronics after you, or send an animatronic to kill you automatically if you stay too long in AR. Which you tend to recognize the sound ques and can easily get out of situations if you're trapped in AR.

The thing about MXES summoning animatronics to you....

All the animatronics AI from the Base game has been severely nerfed.

Monty can no longer jump and you can out walk him fairly easily. YEAH. WALK. I had never had to run from Monty. He'll despawn if he loses sight of you.

Roxy and Chica behave in a similar functional way.

Chica is faster, and gets distracted less easily if you have her chasing you. And her tight corridors prevent her from despawning but she can easily be out walked.

Sun and Moon won't even chase you and have to go out of the way to see the jumpscare.

You can become invisible to the endos.

And you don't need to run into Roxy as an enemy if you don't want and just use the very obvious intended camera speaker mechanic.

All the animatronics move slower than your base walking speed so I never found them that credible a threat and tended to get bored by them.

The tedium of the puzzles didn't help ease that boredom that much.

The only times of this game that felt genuinely horrifying to play were the Bonnie bowl section and the Freddy chase.

Freddy moves faster than your base running speed and he WILL get you a few times if you don't know what you're doing. It was one of the most horrifying experiences in the game for me.

I know horror is subjective. But once I learned quick that MXES couldn't hurt me, and all the animatronics AI was dumbed down to extremely basic.... I found everything an annoyance rather then a threat.

Not only that, Cassie mechanically is not fun to play. (CHARACTER WISE I LOVE HER but for another post)

She runs slower then Gregory and jumping around and running just isn't as fun. I suppose it makes sense. Gregory is dodgy cus he lives on the streets. Cassie just came home from eating carrot cake.

I have replayed the base Security Breach over five times because it's so fun to play. And yes. I typically play the game straight without many crazy glitches.

Ruin, I have only played twice and I got sick of it. The animatronics aren't fun to run from if they all function the same.

I did like it when MXES was approaching as I was solving puzzles. It lead to some genuinely tense moments.

Steel Wool is so close to making the perfect FNAF game.

I REALLY think that the animatronics needed some more AI tweaking or just copy how their shattered AI worked in base game.

I'm kinda glad that the game wasn't TOO hard. But it lead to a lot of situations where I was just casually walking away from the animatronics and it wore off it's novelty in repeat playthroughs.

Meanwhile I can play Security Breach for weeks and never get bored.

Reminder, this is just my opinion, and I'm just talking about the game mechanically.

Story wise, it's definitely an improvement and I did enjoy it alot and I will talk more in depth on that later

They become jealous of people who have personalities unlike theirs easily—confident, exuberant, extroverted people specifically. So much so they get intrusive thoughts of hurting said people, though they never act on them. They have a bad habit of assuming things about strangers due to their black-and-white thinking. They get nervous easily when talking to others. Usually, they try not to say anything that would count as personal information, just in case whoever he’s talking to turns out to not be real.

Backstory: Didn’t have the best home life. Because of his quiet and distant nature, many kids stayed away from them. His constant solitude made them learn the hard way to stick with themself. They developed MADD because of these events. School wasn’t anything too terrible, barely got picked on because nobody even wanted to get to know him. In high school they had their first psychotic break, and had a hard time getting meds. Maybe about a year or so experiencing hallucinations and delusions they finally got medication, and it’s helped moderately. Now that they’re living on their own, they want to regain control of their life, by trying their hardest to get back into reality and get back the years they were lonely and confused. Friends help, and so does literature. Met Wendalyn in the local library, where she works. He liked her for her kindness, and how she didn’t judge him based on his looks or behavior. She was patient, and he would talk to her every time he visited. Met Syd + others through her.

ninjago analysis? theory? fuck it im talking about a 10+ years old childrens lego franchise

so obviously one of ninjago's main themes aside from found family and reformation/growth is protection, right? the main job of the bounty's crew is to protect ninjago, be it from petty criminals to timeline-altering threats, and the ninjas will always be there to protect their home and the people who live in it

and each ninja has their own motivations to continue protecting ninjago, right? zane has his main directive, nya and kai are defending their home and found family, cole is living up to his mother's legacy, etc. and each of their motivations (as well as their backstories) inform the style of protection/defense they chose to embody, which led me to make:

this. the Active to Passive, Protective to Defensive alignment chart. very basically, active = without prompt, passive = with prompting, defensive = coming from a place of self-centeredness and protective = coming from a place of selflessness. i know it looks bare bones and some choices seem questionable, so please allow me to explain each of my choices;

COLE

cole's style of protection is what led me thru this rabbit hole, when i heard his motivational mantra in his dedicated half-season 13;

"I will always stand up to those who are cruel and unjust."

this is what puts him in the active quadrant, along with his previously shown tendencies towards responsibility, stubbornness and refusal to give up on his ideals, no matter the situation. he is undeniably active in his protection, from being turned into a ghost making sure the mission doesn't go awry in season 5, to when he's traumatized, dropped from several hundred stories in the air into an oni-infested ninjago, but makes it to his vehicle anyway and comes back hardly (physically) injured in season 10, all the way to late season 13 when he stands firmly in his and his mother's ideals, honoring her legacy and not only defeating the skull sorcerer, but uniting the geckles and munces, freeing the upply AND liberating princess vania to run shintaro as a free and just society, almost singlehandedly thanks to him and the promise he made to his mother. now onto his second alignment; his actions and brand heroism is extremely selfless; cole doesn't need to find a reason to care or feel motivated to fulfill his ninja duties, his motivation is that there needs to be someone to do it so it might as well be him. when he's initially captured and sent to work with the geckles and munces in season 13, he immediately treats both sides as equals, tries to unite them and show them both of their groups are worthy of respect and liberation; he doesn't get jealous, like kai, or let his cowardice or anxiety overpower him, like jay, he selflessly focuses on freeing those who have been unjustly hurt by a cruel dictator. even before season 13, he's kind and nurturing to baby wu, uses the group's break up at the end of season 3/beginning of season 4 to help and be useful with his super strength; even when he knows revealing his identity could affect how he's seen in his workplace, he immediately gives his lumber job up to save a coworker from a nasty accident. he is a selfless, active protector of ninjago and i adore him for that.

ZANE

after hearing cole's quote/motivation, i got further down the rabbit hole when i remembered zane's:

"I protect those who cannot protect themselves."

his puts him squarely in the passive quadrant, as well as his in-character tendencies to avoid conflict (whether out of social ineptitude or strategic purposes) (coughcough season 8 getting cole kidnapped and saying nothing COUGH) and his need to be prodded in some way to act. zane, as a character, needs it proven to him that someone needs to be protected for him to protect them. not in a negative way, rather a logical one; why would he protect someone if they are fully capable of doing it themself? the only exceptions to that rule appear to be protecting people he loves (even though they are capable of protecting and defending themselves) but that self-sacrifice and burning need to protect comes from his selfless desire to see those around him succeed from his productivity or lack thereof. zane is undeniably selfless, and a pretty good god damn protector. his character might change if someone gave him the same effort he puts into protecting those he loves, but no one has quite allowed him that. in fact, i haven't seen crystalized yet because i can't find where it's been released, but the fact that zane turned off his emotions in order to keep being a productive, supporting member of the team in the wake of nya's death is a terrifying prospect and i hope he's given some therapy (or a dedicated protector of his own) very soon.

WU

"A ninja never quits."

while this may just seem like i'm searching for motivational quotes to assign to each character, this quote really solidifies wu's alignment as a solely protective character for me; a ninja never quits, but to do so one must use all skills at their disposal, whether the actions in and of themselves are passive (prompting and teaching his students so that they may use those skills for themselves) or active (every time he fights his kids, every time he fights a big bad, every time he fights his brother, etc) his overall goal is to protect who and what he loves for the sake of their continued well being. he sacrifices himself MULTIPLE TIMES in canon for the sake of his students and family succeeding in the mission and growing as people; his selflessness is undeniable. the guilt wu feels whenever his past comes back not to haunt him, but his students, his family, permeates in his voice lines and character animation. while i know and understand wu is not a wholly good character, his morals are steadfast, and his grand-paternal streak is a mile wide.

PIXAL

OH BOY I'M EXCITED FOR THIS ONE

"Was I more... useful? Inside the computer? ... I want to be a useful member of the team... I like having a body, but if you require my assistance in your headset--"

pixal's character is inherently selfless. it may as well be in her code, but according to the narrative of ninjago, from her introduction as a personal assistant in season 3 to her gaining nya's approval to continue being samurai x around season 8/9, every one of pixal's actions are actively protective, arguably moreso towards the citizens of ninjago (although that could be more attributed to pixal trying to honor nyas samurai x legacy, which actively focused on aiding the people of ninjago rather than actively fighting anyone, at least during her initial debut). she cares so much about being useful, of being productive in her protection, that she weighs the pros and cons of losing her body AGAIN (something she admits she does not want, her one selfish desire). she is actively thinking about how to aid the ninja's, how to make their future missions easier, and therefore how to protect the entirety of ninjago safer and more protected thanks to the ninjas. much like cole, her protective streak requires no prompting; no matter what kind of trouble is being made, she will be in the samurai x suit, in the sky, in the ninja's headsets, etc, she's nearly everywhere at once, willing to get her hands dirty to protect what she values the most. it's almost funny, the closest pixal has come to being a ninja is being zane's head mate for the better part of 3 seasons, and yet she has the most dedication and drive out of the entire main cast, seconded only by nya.

KAI

"all my training to become the best ninja wasn't in preparation to become the green ninja. it was... to protect him!"

while i would have used the cookie quote for both smith siblings, i feel this quote from season 1 really speaks to the heart of kai's character for me. he's a solid active/defensive character for me, mostly because he is consistently characterized as a stubborn, hot-headed and self-centered individual who is prone to defensive outbursts or periods of time (mostly during missions) where he will deliberately ignore whoever is in charge of or organizing the mission. these outbursts and disproportional moments of confidence are unprompted, and often lead to dysfunction in the team and it's dynamics. which leads to the second half of his alignment, his defensiveness, evidenced by his habit of centering himself in conversations and plans; while most of his seasons 1-2 characterization has passed, that age-old self-centeredness has remained. i'm not saying that's a bad thing, it's actually quite in-character and makes sense for his backstory! as he was a child saddled with raising a baby sister solely on his own, with no parental guides and few if any good role models, it's no wonder he would act (out) like this once given a semblance of stability and family. but that doesn't excuse the actions he has taken as a result of his childhood; he centers himself, likely because in his life before the monastery, he had to prioritize actions he takes and decisions he makes to keep him and nya afloat, but that relationship with responsibility is far from healthy and doesn't translate well into a healthy, loving family dynamic. i chose the quote i did because this is a paradoxical statement; kai's confidence says he's the best ninja, but reality says he is not the green ninja, the legendary ninja. before this point in the series, kai had been convinced HE would be the green ninja, so much so that the scene where wu sees if nya is almost breaks him and ruins their sibling bond. an aftershock of this happens when lloyd is reveled to be the green ninja, but either his lack of an intimate emotional bond with lloyd or his experience with this brand of disappoint make kai's reaction much less jealousy-prone and a lot more self aggrandizing. his self-centering, like his unprompted action, is instinctual, and a core part of his character and being.

i know this quote is much more recent than the others, and much more different, but nya has always been a different, more dynamic character than the rest. she is, like kai, both active and defensive, but much more muted than him. she centers herself because no one in her life, before or after the monastery and the bounty, have allowed her that. samurai x becomes her solely unblemished and untainted outlet to express her identity, but even that is stripped from her by master wu in season 5 when he rushes her into becoming the water elemental, and samurai x is stolen from her not long after. she voices her discomfort with both of these events, in season 5 and after, but she is given no sympathy, no understanding; once again, her selfishness has been stripped without her consent. she is forced to protect, to be selfless, despite what she wants. and the other half of her alignment, her activeness, is completely unprompted by anything. she is ingenuitive, building surprise mechs and road vechicles, keeping the bounty afloat, keeping comms and screens running, with no need to be asked to. there is a kind of selflessness in that, but if nya didn't do it, who would? and who would do it as well as she does? nya's relationships and role on the team and in the family force her to be selfish as a coping mechanism; everyone is a little selfish, everyone has a concept of their Self and feeds it, grows it from time to time, except nya, whose Self has been trampled on by nearly everyone in her life (her mother, borther, sensei, "boyfriend"). she is selfish, but i think she deserves to be.

JAY

okay, this is probably going to make some jay stans mad, but there are some undeniably dark truths about jay i will never get over.

"you told me we were never gonna happen. i thought maybe these three wishes were the very thing that would bring us together. i had to try... in my defense, i did just find out my parents are not my birth parents... nothing? really?"

jay is selfish. i don't mean that in a mean way, but jay has proven himself time and time again that he is a defensive, self-centered character, and that trait is most obvious in his treatment of and relationship with nya, as well as the ENTIRETY of season 6. despite nya's insistence on not having a romantic relationship with jay, jay deliberately goes against her wishes, choosing to use magic to make her fall in love with him, and for what? because some ice in the previous season said they'd get together? jay would respect some magic ice over his teammate and friend's sister? and in season 10, during the final oni battle at the monastery, he decides THEN is the PERFECT TIME TO PROPOSE, depsite having plenty of time beforehand! where nya could have time to ACTUALLY THINK about her answer instead of saying yes in case one of them died! so! jay exhibits selfishness pretty regularly, like kai, which lands him in the "defensive" alignment, but like zane, he is also slotted in the passive section. he often needs to be prompted, whether through words, threats, actions, mishaps with his team, etc, to do the right thing. his cowardice is ingrained in his being and hinders him from becoming active in his defense; cole is the one who lets the remaining ninja on the tiger poison island know how jay fucked up, and during the whole conversation jay is begrudging, almost refusing to admit anything and even has the gall to act betrayed when cole outs that he used two of his wishes, and that's why he was so paranoid about the jin. he tries to soften the blow of the conversation, tries to gain any amount of sympathy, by mentioning that he found out he's adopted, CONVIENTLY LEAVING OUT that how he knew was because he WISHED HIS BIO DAD DEAD TO INHERET HIS ESTATE AND MONEY. YEAH. jay's selfishness continues through the series, even into season 12 where he is given a FUCKING CULT for being so good at video games (and even in there, he needs to be prompted to do the right thing, AND ALSO KILLS NYA. A SECOND TIME. THIS IS A BAD TREND FOR YOUR PARTNER TO HAVE) still, jay is dedicated to defending ninjago and his family, even if he requires prompting to do so correctly.

GARMADON

"People don't change. They only reveal who they truly are!"

garmadon analysis makes me so giddy, so this might get off the rails really quick, be warned. like in canon, he and wu are similar but opposites; if wu's actions are solely protective, garmadon's (even when the evil is removed from him or hasn't taken control yet) are solely defensive, no matter how they are expressed. he, selfishly but correctly, wanted to keep spinjitsu away from aspheera, he is the one who decided to climb the monastery walls for his ball because he wanted to continue playing with wu, he tried multiple times (and succeeded! what a dilf!) to claim the golden weapons and rule as he saw fit (an inherently selfish endeavor). when the evil inside him was removed, he saw to become a sensei, and teach nonviolence in his own monastery, one he controlled so strictly not even weapons were allowed on the premises for fear he would pick one up against and wield it like he used to. no matter what stage of the story ninjago is at, garmadon is a selfish individual; but like how defensiveness can be used for good, so can selfishness! because of that, garmadon makes sure his son doesn't perish in the early seasons, he warns lloyd about the arrival of the oni in the later ones, and still keeps him alive through whatever means necessary. while wu weaponizes his selflessness to protect his family, garmadon utilizes his selfishness to defend it.

LLOYD

"unless my light is bright enough!"

i'm going to be honest, i considered not including a quote to reinforce my decision with lloyd. he's square in the middle; neither passive nor active, nor defensive or protective. he does protect and defend ninjago, and his family, but the meanings of those words in the context do not apply. prompting or the lack thereof, selfishness or selflessness, i feel like niether truly encompass lloyd. and i thought that was really weird; he's the main character, right? there have to be some hard lines in there somewhere that define him, right? but then i realized something. he's just a kid. ninjago is his bildungsroman, his coming of age. even after fifteen whole seasons, he is growing as a person, as a character, learning lessons, rights and wrongs. growing into healthier coping mechanisms and shedding older, unhealthier ones; learning to love living in a family. so of course he doesn't have a protective or defensive style set in stone; his body may be of age, but he still has the mindset of a traumatized, neglected, and abandoned young boy. and like a young child, he is inconsistent, selflessly giving his life up in seasons 4 through 9, but finally claiming a selfish (and well-deserved) break from training in season 11. copying his teammate's styles of protection (aiding the impoverished with harumi, pre-reveal) and defense (warning cole against princess vania, hoping no one will repeat his mistake with harumi, deciding all princesses are like her). he is both prompted (attacking and defeating his father, deciding to make the prophecy come true because of the actions of his family) and unprompted (weaponizing the lessons he's been taught by his family, his father and his sensei) in his action. i can't in good faith say he is solely one way or another, when his emotions and actions are out of sync across the series, one trait remains consistent in his character out of all others; the 'unless' principle; the idea that, hypothetically, the best outcome could come out of the worst circumstance, he only needs to make it so.

Vacation for a Dream Lord Dream of the Endless/GN!Reader Domestic Headcanons!! + small one-shot

(MY FIRST POST LETS GOOO)

After turning down Morpheuses proposal, due to it all being too fast for you, you are trying to show him what he would miss out.

✭ When first arriving at your place, Dream is just...he is in stupor! Still a bit cautios about all this “Breaking the rules about loving mortals by Endless”.I mean, his last lover rejected him because of the death of her tribe. “ Love, how many times should i repeat This? We are not breaking the rules, we are taking detours because the wording of text is realy vague, ok? “ Not ok, he is stil nervous as heck.

✭Extremely shy and nervous at the start (which he really tries to hide. Ehh, doesn`t really work :/ ) As the solution to this problem he started to turn into a cat for some time. Usually when you are working from home or while you are trying to watch a movie with him.  Stroking your fingers through his fur, you lazily say , “If you wanted to cuddle you coud`have asked, love. “ * TURNS INTO A HUMAN IMMEDEATLY *

Even though sleeping on the couch was not your best decision, the nasty feeling in your limbs quickly faded as you felt breathing on your neck. Morpheus did not give up on the first day. “Good.” you thought, falling asleep once again, feeling light embrace of Morpheuses hands.

✭ If you have a pet, which is like dog/cat/rabbit ect. , firstly he will fell a bit jealous. Yeah, Dream of the Endless, Sultan of the Dreams is jealous of some pet. You find it really adorable when he slowly gives in into the charm of this animal. Especialy when you find Morpheus in the living room, who tries to explain something to your pet. 

His eyes met your confused look.

«I speak animal language» he spoke. Nope, not going to ask. Just no.

If you have a reptilia, he`ll be really interested. Mostly he intrested in how to keep such creatures at home and asks if it`s dangerous and nearly scares the shit out of a poor baby((( Regardless of you having any pet, he is already thinking about bringing something(someone) special from his realm. Maybe even a dragon!!

“You know what? I`m not even suprised” you speak while switching between the sight of a Morpheus, and a big egg in a basket. WAIT, did he also put a choclate bars in there???? Well, maybe you are a little surprised.

✭Kicking out Matthew has become a new paragraph in your routine. But after realising that his master is perfectly fine, he leaves back to the Dreaming. He made no promises to keep his mouth shout tho.

✭ Pet names? Well, that is depends on the mood . You are calling him lover?? Dude is just stoped whatever he was doing and just stared at you. He definetly was not expecting this. His brows were frowned, and you tried to apologize.

“I can stop if you don`t like” Your heartbeat was raising, as you looked into his eyes. shivers ran down your spine as you heard response “No, Keep going...Lover”. At this point your brain just stoped working, making smile appear on Dreams face. Your first language is not english? EVEN COOLER! You get to call him names he does’nt understand. Sweet names, obviosly. Like Mriya(Dream), Sueño(Dream,Sleep)  and kokhanyy (beloved, lover). Or sometimes telling him that if he will countinue this self-destructive behaviour of his, you`ll feed him a cat food. You also like to see the questioning stare on Morpheuses face as he tilts his head. After returning to The Dreming and meeting Lucienne, Morpheus asks her what does all this words mean.

“Luciene, while i spent time at the waking world i heard a word Kokhanyy. By any chance do you know the meaning?“ At that statement Luciennes brows raised up. Why would he ask questions like that? Lors of The Dearms sure can spend some time to find a vocabulary. It probably is important, she thought. Lucienne turned her gaze from Lord Morpheus to Matthew, and back. Spreading her shoulders and inhaling air, she sad with a slight smile on her face, “I believe that it means beloved, or lover, my Lord.“  Matthew swore to all of gods that existed in this universe, that he saw Dream of The Endless turning into big scarlet tomato. It`s a shame no one will believe him((

✭If you want to take him out in some restraunt or at least in park, he'll immedieatly dismiss. Damn, you never expected him to have a social anxiety. After some time, though, you succeeded in taking him out to try your favorite food. "It was not that bad, was it?" you asked him, with playfull smirk on your lips. "--I suppose it was not" Morpheus answered. Then he lifted up your hand and gave you a slight kiss on the back of your palm. Aww, such a gentelman. "I hope you truly liked it, 'cause i have a lot more in store to show you." Holding his chin between your fingers you gave him a not-so-soft peck on the lips. Smile rose on his fase. "And i can't wait for all of it to come"

✭ Even though you tried to find a new hobbies for Morpheus, it was quite... Hard, you can say. The dude had litteraly every book back there in his realm. But he is not there, right?? Yeah, on the contrary, he refused to play twister. After buying him a proper phone ( YEAH A NORMAL PHONE, NOT LIKE TOM`S STURRIGES ) he was captivated in the world of cats memes. Genuinely does not understand “deez nuts joke”(my precious little bean). After showing him a few songs of The Smiths, even thought at first he does not share your enthuthiasms, he grows to like them!! Especially “What difference does it make”. Also he enjoyed listening to Tv-Girl. Mostly because  “Lovers Rock” reminds Morpheus about yours relationship. You can swore that he was a bit smiling while listening. And he will not deny it <3

✭ Cooking with him ... is quite a challenge. Despite the fact that in the morning he was all confused, things start to get better when you try cook with Morpheus, while also desparetly keeping him away from a stove as far as possible. Sometimes he feells a bit out because of this. Thinking that he can`t do normal things that little mortals do. But Dreamis quickly realizes that he is wrong, dissolving in his lovers kisses and words of admiration. While making an evening meal together, you get to know eachother better. When Dream tells about his past , his ex-wife and dead son you tell him not to. But he trusts you enough to let you see him at such vulnerable state. 

“Hey... It`s not fine right now, but it will be. I promise.” you slowly spoke, kissing his fallen tear. 

Yeah, sweet-old-depressive-kitchen-talk. Love it.

✭If you are on medication and forgetting to take pills on time, Dream will make sure that you won`t forget to do it. Not in the annoying way, it`s actually kinda sweet that he started his own research on how brains of humans works. Sometimes you can find him seating on the couch, reading some book on human`s biology. You can join him by carefully pulling him down, moving under his hands and placing head on his chest. If you are lucky, you can leave your hands on his hips ))

*You getting a cold* "Humans are such a fragile creatures" - *Morpheus gives you a blanket, tea and all the love he has* *You acciddentaly cutting yout hand* "Such clumsy, soft, easy-going creatures" - *Takes his time to heal your palm ".

✭If you really like playing games on your pc, Morpheus likes to be near you and taking care of you when you can`t do it yourself. Giving you snacks, reminding you of importance of sleep and basicly being close to you(MALEWIFE MORPHEUS GOES BRRR). Also tried to teach him to play some basic games, kind of like genshin or minecraft. After finding out that he can read books in his phone he became less intrested in gaming. But because of Morpheuses passionate nature with his lovers, Dream Lord always wanted to be close to you.  When Dream was not in cat form , an idea came into your mind. 

“Dream” “Yes, my lover?” Even after a few month him calling you like that, the warm feeling in your chest is not going to get away. It probably never will and you enjoy this thought. “You know, i just got an idea you might like. What about...Cuddles in a chair? I still have a lot of things to do, but if you want to, we can, you know..?” Dream is quiet for a moment, he appreciate that you share a desire of this kind of intimacy. After a few seconds he responses with , “I think its a great idea, my love”

Damn, he is so... Comfortable! Looks like his cat form not so different from his human form . It was an iddyl. Your legs was wrapped around his torso, your hot breathing has faced his pale neck. While his arms was wrapped around your waist, sometimes they traveled into area of your legs. Being busy over computer means that you can`t hold him forever, but when you get break and start to hold him, Morpheus just melts into your touch. Giving him soft pecks on his nose, forehead and neck became a routine you both enjoy. The only though of his in  moments like that was never letting you go.  "Alright, hon`. I`m done with my work for today. Time to go to sleep." You spoke lazily, turning off your pc. Suddenly you hear his soft mumble. "What was that, love? " Hands slightly stroking his hair. "I do`nt want to." He replied under his breath. "Hm--Dream does not want to dream?" ASked you while pressing slight kisses onto his neck "To let you go." "Alright then, needy teddy bear, looks like i need to carry on the bed"

✭He likes to take care of you, that`s not even a question. When you start to take care of Morpheus, he is feeling ... strange. Brows twitching, heart rate speading up and goosebumps keep spreading all over across his spine as you gently comb his black hair. Absolutely stunned when you asked if you could weave flowers into his hair. When you were finished it was your time to be stunned. Never this planet had seen as pretty creature as Dream. Morpheus was amused by your feelings towsrds him, pink blush started to form on his cheeks.

"Take a picture." He spoke,"It'll last longer"

Probably you had thought it out loud. Without any shame you answered, "And i definetly will"

✭Obviosly news about Dream taking a vacation was flying from one realm to other. Mostly because one nasty raven couldn`t keep his tounge behind his beak. When you were wisited by Death, that was a good thing, really. Turns out she poped up to check on her sweet brother. It’s a shame she didn`t stayed for a dinner. But definetly good for Morpheus, or she would`have told you all his embarassing moments that she knew of. The real surprise was the Desire, standing in front of your door. Morpheus had told you about one of his youngest siblings . Sibling that wanted attention and power. But no, you do not pity them. This time this trickster has taken the form of someone you desired the most - Dream, your passionate lover who now was reading in the living room. Tension started to fly in the air.

"Oh, Dear, you know that you will not stay with fim forever, right?" Huh, nice words to start conversation with.

"I`m not going to repeat it for you, Desire. Get out." You irritably replied.

"Ouch, that was really rude of you! We are basicly family now, are we not? " Desire laughed lightly at your words.

"Hmm, you basicly have had hand in my lovers capture for an over a century, tried to get him killed and gave him more trauma than he can handle?? No, after that, no. I don't wan't to have anything in common with you."

"Your words hurt me more than any venom could! This time Dream has found himself a bold one. And is not like you have any chance in standing against me anyway, sweetie. Now please, get lost. I have a deal for the Dream." Desire purred, slipping throught the door, inviting themself in. Huge wave of shock went through the intruder, knocking the ground out from under their feet. Stars danced in eyes of Desire while their body and mind twisted in pain. You kneeled down, to get a better look at Desire and to assert dominance. " As you can see, and feel, sweetie , being in love with Dream of The Endless means being in constant danger. And who would i be, if i had not protected my house from nasty little things like you?" You spoke, slighlty poking their face just out of boredom.

"It was quite easy to find right spell and ingridients, while having a biggest library in universe and blood of Endless." Seeing that you can't get more information on the deal they came with, you raised to your full height as you've said your last words to the intruder.

"Whatever deal you have to Dream can wait, so please, get lost." Before closing the door, you gave Desire the last blow. "It is pchysicaly hurts to see you like that, really.--Huh, maybe i even do pity you."

The door closed and so yours conversation with Desire. "Who was that?" Asked you Dream, continuing to read his book.

"Just some pizza-guy has the wrong adress. Ugh, now i am even regretting not just paying for pizza and taking it in"

Morpheuses eyes rose from a book. Then he cautiosly asked you

" What's a pizza?"

✭ Hugs from the back! This man absolutely in love with physical affection. Especially after he got over his imprisoment trauma. If you are significantly shorter than him, Dream loves to place his chin on top of your head snd lay his hands around you. Likes to get stuff from high cupboards for you by picking you up and lifting you on the level of cupboards. If you are the same height as him then he also hugs you and loves whispering words of admiration into your ear.

"Well, it was nice while it lasted, right?" You huffed with a smile on your face, facing the love of your life. So, so beautiful. Cold morning breeze waving his hair while sunlight fell on his pale skin.

" You still can visit me in the Dreaming " Said Dream, slightly tilting his head. Were you going to leave him? No, everything was so nice. It can't be.

" Nah, just, after this vacation i feel like i won't be able to get enough of you, ya' know?."

"You know i can not leave Dreaming without a ruler..."

"Yeah, and would never ask you to do so. At least i'll have a plenty of time after my death at the Dreaming, right? Lets just hope it won't be soon, i still have plans to do here". Morpheus could not believe his ears. You wanted to live with him after death? Then why would you turn his proposal down? His shocked face had told you everything he did't. " Hey, if i don't want to marry you does'n mean that i don't love you, alright? It's just... I've never seen a sense in marriage . If you love somebody, why you should prove it with some papers and rings? And yeah maybe i do have some trust issues cuz of my parrents unsuccesfulll marriage and i were suprised someone like you would marry someone like me... I am rambling again, aren't I?" As your face had growed a sad look, it was taken in cold hands of the Dream of The Endless.

"Throughout the time i spent with you i've learnt so much about mortals, about the misserable life of theirs..."

"Wow, thanks, you know how to flatter a human..." You rolled your eyes as he continued to speak.

"And it took me long enough to realise the beauty of all of you. You are facinating, soft creatures with a of heart of gold. And every of you is so, so different. You fail to see the light in the darkness-- just the way i did. And when you are in dead end, what do you do? You sleep, traveling into my realm. Regaining your life power. Creating and inspiring. You've showed me this side of humanity, you've faced the darkness with a smile on your face, creating a light on your own. You were the one who accompanied me on this jouney, lightning my way... It would be an honor to be a companion on the journey of yours. I'll fight all the demons on your way. Even if it's the demon of insecurities and trust issues." Oh god, did he just made a joke?" I'll face every obstacle on our way, if it means being with you."

"Actually, i can name at least one obstacle that is for now is not your level. " Pray tell me, my beloved."

"Therapy" The next moment you bursted into laughing. The nicest sound in the universe, thought so Dream. Unknowingly to both of you, your legs started to walk into park.A usual route that you walked with Morpoheus every morning. A new conversation was born.

"Actually, fun fact about all this stuff like «Regaining power in dreaming. No matter what happend today, in the morning it'll be better". It has scientifical explanation! It's all about glymphatic system that basicly, cleanses the brain of toxins during deep sleep. Facinating, isn't it?"

"Indeed, it is." Answered Dream, admiring you. A sound of raven's wings slit the wind.

And so, the new journey has began.
