Hello chibishortdeath! I hope you don’t mind me sending an anime recommendation. This anime sorta reminds me of Simon’s Quest and so I thought you might enjoy it (and it makes me fantasize of what an animated Simon’s Quest might be like). It’s Dororo (2019) and the whole series is available on YouTube. It’s basically got a protagonist suffering from a curse that has to travel to defeat monsters and “gather” body parts. But unlike Simon’s Quest, the protagonist is followed by a kid, so that might not be to your liking. But I just can’t recommend it enough! It does get really violent and gory though, so here’s a warning.

Oooo, I looked it up and it sounds really cool!!! :O I’ll have to check it out, I think some of my family members might like seeing it too tbh. As much of a legend in manga as Osamu Tezuka is, I’m surprisingly not very familiar with most of his work. I saw a couple episodes of Astro Boy and one of the movie adaptations when I was younger, but that’s about it. So it’ll be cool to actually get into something of his!!! Thinking about how Leo says he uses his jokes to cope and y’know, thinking harder on it I think it may very well be because of what else uses one-liners and puns and that type of humor.

Specifically, 80’s action movies and campy sci-fi. Even more specifically, the protagonists of these.

So I can imagine why, exactly, Leo leans toward this brand of humor. It’s directly linked to things he loves! But even more than that is why I think it’s used as a coping mechanism.

In these genres, these quips tend to be said by the winner - or, if not a winner, then someone who will stay alive. So there’s a confidence behind them, an assurance, almost, that even if things go wrong, things aren’t ever too serious. There’s no bad endings here! It’s all good fun, even if the stakes seem high.

Leo canonically has been known to steer his brothers away from the more brutal villains and toward more fun, lighthearted activities and not-so-dangerous criminals. So for Leo, these jokes definitely make things less heavy, make the situations they find themselves in less intense.

It’s kinda not just coping, but also can be seen as a form of escapism. A safety blanket. A way for Leo to defuse the tension of knowing just how dangerous their lives are and replace that with a levity which implies that things will be okay.

Unfortunately, levity alone does not alter reality.

Would mechi ever join the deserters?

I feel like Mechi would be very very stubbornly attached (in his own sort of way) to the first faction that earned his favour.

In this case, The Empire granted him a title before The Deserters offered him anything worth his while. Now, he’s going to be unshakeably loyal to The Empire while still being a total asshole to every one of their trade caravans or tribute collectors who pass by.

like i had specifically imagined how i thought mapicc and ro would act about zam right after he betrayed. no one told me they turned straight around and went 'we hurt zam by duping 😔'. there was an image in my head! and it! was not! that!!

sorry anon... DISAGREE!!! I know part of this is for the sake of brevity, but simplifying their reactions to that is just nawtttttt accurate.

take ro, his confusion at it being a betrayal, wanting to believe in zam, but not able to give it up. he didn't mean to hurt zam but once it happened he didn't care. I might be wrong as I haven't seen that vod in. ages. but if ro kept duped items after hsh, that's very showing.

and then mapicc didn't care about hurting zam with dupes. he got rid of them because he found it boring. he did not for a second feel bad about it and that's really obvious in castle arc.

ro felt bad about failing his team, failing the server in ways, but he didn't see it as dupings fault. mapicc refused to feel bad as the sting of zams betrayal overwrote any other feelings.

I feel like this is further proven eith leviathan and the pearl/gapple dupe glitches. sure, there was some time where ro cared, but with his connection to zam being severed he didn't see a point anymore.

Because of my schedule to do webcomic series to post it monthly or 2, I think I believe its time for me to discontinue to do some fanarts/fancomics/fananimations for now. That doesn't mean that I had to stop it COMPLETELY! I STILL DO FANARTS but not as active as before.

Why, you ask? urm.....I did mention webcomic guys..... I had to confess to you all that the reason that I started to focus more on that instead is because I was planning for this long time ago. When I got the idea concept for my new webcomic series (PunkISH STAR is not the first btw), like 2 or 3 years ago, I was preparing to conceptually character sketches on my new OCs and writing it for that long!!! After I posted first episode, I got few positive comments of it and it got me more motivate to do more! (except rn i got burnout so I believe this chapter might be post VERY late than ever..lol....)

Trying my best to say this to avoid yall booing me, I still appreciate the way you guys liking and reblogging my fanarts alot, to be honest. But the way how my art from medias I'm fan of got more attention than my original art pieces, that kinda overwhelmed me alot LMAO

Just want to point it out I am an artist, but not in fan artist way. I draw fanarts for fun. But I need yall to know that I need to focusing on my story to keep write on.

Ooh, that's an excellent question!

I think Mechi would be very tempted by psycaster powers and the potential to have heavily armed allies with fancy armour and weapons at his beck and call, but he would likely find the idea of having to give royal speeches and talk to people politely without being rude (because he might get executed if he is) less-than-palatable.

Plus, I don't think The Empire's ideology (it's called the Collective Collective, which is hilarious) approves of androids, so they probably wouldn't be friends/begrudging allies for long if Mechi had his way.
